Deep dive to Spam bots on Tumblr (Spoiler: FSB mentioned)

(TL;DR: Russian business man is heavily investing into companies behind the bots, mentions of FSB, Shell companies in tax-evasion and weak business law countries, Huge industry and money laundering)

I got annoyed about the bots on tumblr, so I decided to do some investigation into who is behind them and funding the operation, here is my findings:

The graph shows how a network of “affiliate marketing” companies for “dating” services is connected and some of the key players behind said companies

The first “company” I ran into is called “Digital international Inc” and it is shown as the “legal entity” behind of many of the websites the bots tend to link to, it also has its address listed in the Marshall Islands.

By looking at trademarks owned/filed by that company, we find 2 more companies/trademarks that are/were owned by the same legal entity.

First of these is called “Mirelia Services Co.”, currently known as “Mirelia Networks”, which lists its main business as “advertising and marketing” and is registered at the same address as “Digital International”.

Where things get interesting is when we look at one of the trademarks that was passed between “Mirelia” and “Digital international”, a trademark for an LGBTQ+ dating app called “Hitwe”,

The trademark application for “Hitwe” is listed as “Rescinded/canceled” but from the original registration documents and later ownership transfer filings, we come across an interesting company

“Matar Trade & Invest Ltd.” This company has other similar “dating” and “marketing” companies linked to it, and is owned by “Vladimir Mnogoletniy”, a Citizen of Russia, who has lived in Ukraine for over 10 years and his runs his businesses there, but interestingly does not seem to have officially moved there, and maintains his Russian Citizenship as his only one.

He is also the CEO or a major of many other companies, the main one being “Genesis”, the company behind a controversial fitness app “BetterMe”, which has been shown to aggressively sell user data to less-than-reputable ad companies and affiliates, as well as being used to redirect money from scam dating sites and lessen the impact of credit card chargebacks from those sites [See footnote 1]

What makes him a particularly interesting individual is that his father, who is a Captain of the Second Rank in the Russian Navy, is doing security work for “Sevmash” - A Russian shipbuilding company, the only one that is making nuclear submarines in Russia. He also co-authored a research paper that talks about “Military Counterintelligence activities”, The other author of said paper is an FSB officer.[See footnote 2]

Tangent: one of the other companies that I came across that seems to be working with Mirelia is “Traffichunt”, which seems to be one of the companies selling bot spam advertisements as well.

Another interesting thing is that the lawyer who filed for most of the trademarks, has quite a repertoire of similar trademarks under his belt:

Most of these seem to have been rejected because the address he listed in the applications does not exist

Here is the "Artist who scammed me out of 160$USD to buy volleyball shoes...... ALMOST 320$USD because she refused to refund me "I am not refunding you the 160" basically! I have a screenshot of that too. Dm for evidence!" I have over 60-75 screenshots of our conversation. She made a new account that "shes" been spamming/scamming others with too.

Please report as spam for both accounts then block.

I'm giving everyone a warning about this person they like to constantly spam likes, asks, and comments

And I'm not the only one

They love to spam these kinds of things

And I'm pretty sure that they are aware of Thomas being a child in my au because they spammed like every single post that has my Thomas in there and they know it but they kept on spamming me this question in particular. I'm not the only one either this person too ↓

This happened to this person too

They have constantly spammed people especially in the ttte fandom

But this is just a warning to everyone to just block them I have warned them a lot of times and I asked them nicely to leave everyone alone and to not spam but apparently they didn't listen

So if they start spamming you with stuff just block them

I don't want to cause problems I just want everyone to know that this person will spam you until you respond and it's bothering a lot of people.

If you are aware of this and have proof of them spamming you it would be nice to reblog this post with your proof or just reblog this to just warn people about them

WTF is Up Wid Dis?

Over the last 2 weeks, Tumblr has been sending me "followers" who have nothing on their pages, all using scantily clad females wanting to be my "friend". I block them all, but their numbers are ridiculous. Obviously attempts to spam/scam, so a word to those idiots doing this - I block shit like this. Go spam/scam a billionaire - that would help us all.

Also, while I’m talking about AO3, I got these 3 comments in a fairly short span of time there today:

Wow, just wow! I'm in awe of your ability to capture the essence of these characters so perfectly. It felt like I was reading an official continuation of the original work. You've truly brought them to life!

I just finished reading your fanfic, and I'm blown away by your talent. You have a gift for creating believable character arcs, and the chemistry between the protagonists was off the charts!

I'm in awe of your ability to build tension and suspense. The plot twists kept me guessing, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire fic. It's clear you're a master storyteller.

because I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d get even one hit ANYWHERE. The fandom is 6 years old, I’m kinda out here all alone in my fangirling at this point, so even a single kudos or like would be really super nice. And it didn’t even have one of those. So to suddenly get 3 amazing comments? Wow, I literally was that GIF.

And then, of course, it dawned on me. See if you notice the teeny little problem.

Those comments are on my Mass Effect: Andromeda vid.

I guess this is a version of spam? I was so googly-eyed over the comments themselves that I didn’t at first realize they’re from guests with names but no accounts attached to them. There aren’t any links in the comments so I’m not sure what they’re supposed to accomplish. You know, other than getting my hopes up that somebody not only watched my vid but liked it enough to comment on it.

Actual footage of me hurrying to read my comments... 😂😉

Ah well, just one of those things, I guess. 🤷‍♀️ I’ll go ahead and remove them so they can’t come back and edit links or something into them later.

Is anyone else getting really annoyed with all of these spam sexually explicit posts all over tumblr lately 🙄?

I don't know about you, but tumblr is my safe space, and I don't appreciate every single post for ten straight posts being a visual link of someone's genitalia asking me to click to watch 😑

There are sites if you want to see that stuff, leave it off social media where there are young kids and teens as well as simply people like me who try to control their feed for their mental health.

I have no problem with sex workers. Please, make your money! Leave your links, but please make the photo one that's not of your genitals 🙃

All these links popping up lately have all been spam. I don't think they're even from genuine sex workers. I think they're just trolls spamming every possible hashtag and honestly I'm fed up with it. I've turned into the tumblr police 🚔

Half of these posts I report for sexually explicit material the other half I block because it means less I will hopefully wind up seeing on my page. I'm just so annoyed.

For everyone who wants to keep tumblr from becoming a place where people misuse it and turn it into a spam-a-thon, please report every single one of these spam sexual content posts you come across.

Let's come together and show these trolls that this is not the place for their BS!

OMG the email spammers are catching on. Sort of. I just went to my inbox and saw this, quotation marks included:

Health News! An email here to tell me how to sleep like Dracula!! I never click on obvious spam, but I had to open this one.

I was very disappointed to find the usual dreck about under-eye bags and secret solutions made of “organic molecules” that no one else has ever discovered. Not one mention of vampires. Boo.

This could have been GREAT spam email, but instead it’s only clickbait.
