It feels like ever since Sora disappeared, I’ve wanted something like this. Coco’s Land of the Dead is my ideal world for KH4 - the theming and environment would fit beautifully.

There are so many interesting concepts to be explored with Sora and his friends on opposite sides of reality. I’ll try not to dream too big, but I’m excited for what’s next.

Whump Prompt #1037

So your character has matured over the last few years. As they’ve grown up they’ve come to realise that maybe rushing their past recoveries was actually a terrible idea, as they suffer consequences to this day (aches and pains, flare-ups, repressed trauma etc).

So now they listen to doctors when they’ve been injured/sick - they dutifully take their medicines, force themselves to go to physical therapy on time (they even try to be nice to the PT on occasion!), they take the full amount of leave/bed rest (though they do sneak some paperwork in), and they don't try to push themselves.

Such maturity is commended by the team/family/friends as it goes to show how far your character has come, as well as easing their worry of them.

However. (And there always is a however in these situations)

What if a rival or a group of reckless newcomers see this as your character just being lazy or trying to get out of work? Maybe they take this to the higherups (but the higher-ups just laugh because your character is ‘actually doing as they’re told’). Maybe after this they go directly to your character and attack them in some way (verbally or physically) - or maybe they’re sick of seeing them be more cautious on missions and decide to throw them in danger.

Of course this takes a huge toll on your characters confidence... so what if they decide to go back to their old ways?

Vash pulls out a large bag of presents. "Let's get started!"

Of course, I have to mention my lovely band of Woowoos. ( @adventures-written, @curseisms, @nothinglikegod, @crosspunisher ) thank you boys for putting up with my Vash.

"Of course, you get a new pack of cigarettes!" Vash tosses them each their own as well as a knit sweater with a pattern of pine trees. "To keep you fellas warm." He picked them out himself. Vash reaches into the bag again & pulls out... a pair of red lace underwear?? "Ahhh-forget you saw that!!" He stuffs it back into the bag. "That's a present for later, eheheheh!"

"Oh! You'll like this!" The Wolfwoods are also given a bottle of bourbon. "Drink up, my guys! You mean the world to me!" ❤️ Because nothing says I love you like,

Next is my dear Meryl ( @adventures-written ). Vash hands her an oversized sweater; dark blue with polar bears. "This will keep you nice a warm. Thank you for always busting me out of trouble." A delicate kiss is planted on Meryl's cheek by Vash, followed by tickles down her sides. ❤️

Looks like there's a little something for my friendly Livio: ( @bone-pile-rp ) "This is a gift from both Wolfwood & I," Vash proudly states, placing a new leather hat onto Livio's head. "You look great! Hope you enjoy it, Buddy." ❤️

Now, we can't forget my fellow Vash brethren. DONUTS FOR ALL OF YOU!! ( @melpcmene, @surevive, @needlenxggin )

"You boys..." SNIFF! "...Have been through so much. We deserve it, yeah?"

@needlenxggin - Gets a matching red scarf & hat from big brother Spikey. "Don't get into too much trouble this year, little bro."

@surevive - Gets a golden pocket watch from Blondie. Engraved on the cover is an outline of a geranium. "I will chase you through time & space. Always." ~ reads the card. Blondie might seek out Hemlock later for a little alone time.

@melpcmene - This is from Wolfwood. The card reads, "Try to stay out of trouble, Needle Noggin. You can always count on me to find you & kick your ass." Aww! & there's a metal glasses case & lens wipe. Very fancy looking. He must have saved up quite a lot of money for you.

We can't forget my precious Hakkais! ( @shouga-nai, @melpcmene ) Vash digs around in his bag for their presents. "It's from Sanzo! It's a..." he stares. "A back scratcher."

"..."

"WHAT A THOUGHTFUL GIFT! It must mean something important, right?" Unknown to Vash, Sanzo worked very hard to find the perfect back scratcher. He tested many.

& let's not forget my lovely Gokus. ( @ofdraiocht, @worldly-diversity ) "Looks like Sanzo has left you a box of steamed dumplings. You boys must have been good this year." Vash chuckles. "Oh, & there seems to be a card attached. It reads, "'To Goku, these should last you for a few hours so don't even think about bugging me. With love, Sanzo.'" Vash may have added in the "with love" part.

"What beautiful fatherly-love." sniff!

Last but not least, lets give a shout-out to some awesome OCs!

@healingbrews - Is gifted a basket of goodies from none other than Vash. He'd never forget his Onee-san. Wolfwood gifts her a warm sweater dress. It's a nice burgundy color to match Hinoka's hair. Sanzo gives her another beaded protection bracelet. Not that she needs it, but you can never be too careful. Lastly is a present from Konzen. It's a vase of flowers from the Garden of Heaven. & there seems to be a nice little love poem written in his handwriting. Goku must have slipped that in there.

@strywoven - Verona is gifted a golden comb by her devoted Plant twins. A pattern of flowers & a deer is engraved on the handle. Kaen is gifted a hunter-green sweater with patterns of trees embroidered across its center. Vash may have dragged Nai along for them both to pick out the softest material to sew together. Only the best for their darling friend!

& that concludes our little gift-giving New Year post! I hope you all have a safe & happy new year!

ah thank you for asking! 💜 I'm eager to write all of this down at some point see you in 30 years 👋 but here's what I got planned out so far! (getting back at you by writing an essay about this as well, I am so sorry)

so, funny thing, the auction at the Rossi Estate is quite the event for everyone involved (and not because of the shootout). For context, Sam and Palo reunited right after he got out of prison and they both worked with Rafe. Sam kind of tells her like a mixed version of the truth and his Alcázar lie. (She knows Rafe got him out of prison.)

When Sam seeks out Nate, he doesn't tell her about it "to keep her safe". However, because Paloma's sister is an art dealer she's actually invited to the auction and both of them are going to be there. Her sister is the one to spot him ("Hey, that guy looks exactly like Sam.") Long story short, Palo gets her hands on a shotgun. They all survive and she decides to join the trio on their hunt, out of spite.

Now, Sam has the choice between telling his brother the truth or lying to his wife. Guess what he chooses...

And Palo is naive enough to not speak with Nate about how this whole situation came to be, only that he needs to give Alcázar a part of the treasure. That's how the lies never clash.

When they're in Scotland, she stays with Viktor. Then, they all have so much fun in Madagascar. I'm not sure yet if she goes to the tower with Nate and Viktor or with Sam because of that whole chase scene afterwards. But I'm leaning towards the latter for more drama.

As much as I'd love for her to look for Libertalia with the brothers, I think Sam will tell her to not come with them. In the meantime, Rafe found out about Paloma's presence and sends some of Nadine's men after her. She gets caught. Which brings us to yet another semi-reunion when Rafe uses her as bait for Sam, threatening to shoot her if he doesn't comply. So, they're both with Rafe but manage to escape together. The rest follows the game's canon. She stays with Elena and Viktor.

If Chase Yuong and the First Ninja start a fight, who will win in your opinion? Either way, it's going to be epic.

anon ANON thank you. I've been dying to think more about those two in the same context, ever since i realized the similarities of these two idiots i like (greenish hair? martial artist? magical? kinda lived long???) But i've shoved those crossover-ish ideas away since i am busy with other stuff lol. but this gives me an excuse >;)

Ok, if we do NOT take canons in consideration (because lets be truthful, cartoons rarely can give a full scope of a character to our satisfactions lol) so I have 2-3 vague scenarios in which they clash (IMO either of them can win??? (because i like them both, even if i am more of First fan, so I cant decide who of them winning would be more entertaining lol)):

If First Ninja in his prime (sometime after imprisoning Sorcerer but before the Ultimate Lesson) clashed with 700 yo Chase Young (since this fucker is canonically 1500 yo) who would probably try to defeat First in order to make him part of his Jungle Cats harem:

Chase is ridiculously, stupidly overpowered but one could argue that at 700 he hasn't yet reached the height of all his powers, so First would certainly have a fighting chance. First is supposedly uniquely trained since (probably) his birth by his Ninja Clan and continuous battles with the Sorcerer (and most likely other creatures, like Sorceress and Tengu and etc.) throughout his teenage-young adult life to take on enemies like Chase - overpowered magical beings/soulless monsters - with the help of Ninja Mask and all its powers.

Admittingly, in this case the win will most likely go to Chase, if only because of his experience and overwhelming array of powers at his disposal. Though considering we do not know the full scope of Ninja Mask's powers, First has like maybe 15-25% chance to win (and at least 30-45% in my mind if i consider my own hc about the mask lol), but not 0%.

If First Ninja's 800 yo. spirit somehow was released from/embodied by Ninjanomicon to clash with 1500 yo Chase Young in the Modern Present:

Here a lot of my hc come in play. I fully believe that if First - with all the developed abilities, experiences, memories, power (and possibly spirits) acquired during his stay/merge within the Ninjanomicon and from over like 200 people who ever used the mask over 800 years - fought 1500 yo Chase - who spent at least a century or 2 or 3?? hidden away in his Fortress, growing just a bit complacent, since he clearly became too strong and thus bored of the world when it couldn't offer him decent opponents anymore, at least not until current Monks - the fight could go either way.

Chase is still stupidly OP, but its clear that he was deprived of good opponents for a loooooong time, since he resorted to fight against/taunt teenagers and Omi, who is basically a kid still. And they frequently managed to outmanoeuvre him in their confrontations, if not in an actual hand-to-hand fight then at least in common sense lol.

Meanwhile First trained and learned with his each of his successors years in and out, and while we dont know exactly what sort of things happened, we can say for sure that the fighting was continuous. Ninja barely had any rest, for the Sorcerer probably attracted chaos inclined allies and minions and thus a never ending stream of enemies for Ninja to battle.

If basic bitches clash aka OG Good Chase and First Ninja before he was First Ninja:

This is just for fun and because I fully believe that pre-Ninja Mask First will trounce Good Chase. xD

We do not know Chase's past, and there are various headcanons on how he came to be a Xiaolin Monk, but let's just say that judging by his apperance and XS voice, he is probably a very young adult-ish before he drunk his Soup, so he most likely was a Monk since at least his pre-teen/teen years. He appears to be insecure in his Monk-ness and in his abilities to become the greatest warrior despite his competence, since he was swayed/manipulated/convinced? to sell his soul to a demon for more power and freedom from Monk values.

If we judge First's appearance and voice, he would be perhaps a slight bit older than Chase when he became The Ninja, and not to mention since he was born into the Ninja Clan, he was likely trained since he was very young. His personality appears to be very studious and there is certainly a great deal of strength in his character since he not only managed to continue on with his duty even after loosing his brothers but also not succumbing to the overwhelming Power of the Mask that can corrupt those of weak belief and hold the title of the Ninja longer than anyone else.

(Not to mention I am of very biased opinion that Ninjas are cooler than Monks. lol. Also we can assume they all have magic of some sort. Like think Naruto like Ninjas and Xiaolin Elemental Dragons/Monks.)

ALSO in case 1, obviously if they fought with the agreement that if Chase wins he would ABSOLUTELY add First into his Jungle Cat harem. First will most likely add/request a stipulation that Ninja Mask was not taken with First and I can see Chase honoring that agreement, so the Ninja legacy will continue on and Chase still gets an incredible warrior to his ranks, and perhaps more warriors if the future ex-Ninjas would decide to try and fight him later on. ;)

(first's animal form would be either a leopard or iriomote cat (both native to Japan) or a crow because tengu connection/associations ;D )

And if First wins, he certainly would figure out how to contain Chase, (perhaps even in the Ninjanomicon itself hohoho) since he somehow managed to contain a sorcerer that controls chaos with some binding, magic from a mythical beast and in a deep hole that perhaps connected to some dark realm, like??

so recently, scar has gotten good at minecraft. like, really good. if you watch his old stuff, it doesn't take much to see that scar's strengths generally used to lie outside of the actual, run-around-without-dying-especially-on-a-pvp-server level of play. and that's fine, it wasn't his jig, and the people he's playing with really are very good and very experienced at this sort of play. so it never needed to be something that scar was good at because his fanbase mostly watched him for other reasons, so that just wasn't something he needed to be able to do.

but for a while now, especially noticeable over the life series, he's been rapidly improving at the sorts of particular skills that the life smp server values (and also certain skillsets involved in MCC, too). The water bucket clutches spring to mind, as well as the hot-guy stuff that make him such a lethal force with a bow. (It's honestly a shame that life smp doesn't have elytra -- he regularly one-shots people from the air on hermitcraft, and it's a fantastic bit.)

And it's just so good to see because like... he didn't have to go and do that! he went and practiced those skills, and got good at them, and then came and showed them off. and it was awesome, but also he made it so creative and entertaining, and he really didn't have to do any of it at all if he hadn't wanted to. people don't play on life smp because they're good at the technical elements of the game. more than anyone else, scar's particular shenanigans and the energy he brings to the server are what make him a great fit for the series. there are plenty of players on life smp who aren't great PVPers but who get by on politicking, or scheming, or storytelling, or just generally being a good time to be around, and each of them makes the smp tick and are valuable in their own way.

not to mention that life smp is made up of such a wonderful group of human beings that they'll do whatever it takes for you to fit in. to make your thing, and your particular energy and abilities, a part of of the series. to make it that you aren't hampered by your abilities and handicaps, whatever they may be. when skizz dies early on to some early misfortune in limited life, people are pretty clearly aware that he's one of the weaker players and it might impede his ability to have a full series. but don't worry, because half the server are tripping over themselves to give him their time and lives and totems and to swear undying oaths of fealty to protect him at all costs. grian, martyn, tango, literally every one of the ties - not to mention everyone who stood around and watched as skizz killed tango - all are working together and giving up things, valuable things, to make sure this one player gets to keep time on the server, and therefore time on the series, just because that's who they are. that's what the server is. friends, playing together.

i'm sure that's also why grain stuck with scar in the first series: to make it fair. they want everyone to have a good time. To be able to do their own thing, whatever that thing is you bring to the server, be it your insane PVP skills or trying to scam players by selling them magic crystals.

which is a long way of saying: scar was under no obligation whatsoever to get good at these player-skill-based elements of minecraft. but it's wonderful that he did! he really said, "look, i know you all think i'm a walking disaster, but i need you to know, it's not because i'm bad at the game. it's because i'm me." and then he went and got crazy good at archery (well, okay, crazy good at one very specific archery move, but also pretty damn good at shooting things overall! and at flying!) and he started parkouring around a bunch and now he's mastered waterbucket clutches (and what a fucking display he got to show off in double life, too) and just all around Got Good at the things that he wasn't previously that good at.

and the best thing was that he's still such an irreverent force of chaos that it hasn't even mattered. he's still just as lethal to himself through his own terrible decisions and random lack of awareness or foresight. or even just his own desire to fun, no matter what. the man really went into a hardcore server and said alright, i'm gonna build my base up high enough to definitely kill me, and also make it out of trap doors, and oh grians here, oops i'm sure that won't go wrong. and then he went and died to his elytra failing. that's just the most scar thing I've ever seen. you can't even fault him because grain also died on that server. only joel properly made 100 hours and there's no surprises there, joel is insanely good. so its no mark against scar that he died. but how he plays it, it's just so him.

and you wouldn't have it any other way because this is why we watch him. he's entertaining because he's totally unpredictable and also predictable and good and bad and competent and incompetent all at the same time. he will waterbucket-clutch INTO an impossible situation to save a bunch of useless pandas that were almost definitely going to die and he'll get away with it. and then also he will die by setting off a trap he's trying to very obviously lure others into. yes also he fell into a pit of zombies, what of it? it's just scar and his wacky hijinks. will he die? lets find out!

scar really said the only thing holding me back is me, and then proved it.

Ohhh brudder jojolion is probably my personal favirote jojo part

I love it so much, its unfortunately got some rough spots especially at the start with the character daiya. But as for the story at whole its really great

Its about a man who wakes up with no memories of you he is, where he came from, or why he was buried in the dirt. It's about the journey of this man as he discorves who he was to those around him before he lost his memories. It's about a man deciding who he wants to be in an ocean of perspectives of his character from others.

It's about family and the unbreakable bond with your mother no matter where you go and what happens. Even if that means doing things that no one else will understand or even hate you for doing.

im gonna be 100% honest with you man i'm not gonna post this in full because you are just going to open yourself up to getting clowned on again but i do need you to know this is my absolute favourite opening to any ask i've gotten ever.

#mine #for what it counts i think your base point was fair. the idea of discussing childhood in south africa in the 80s and not-#-mentioning apartheid at all does stick out to me as odd. however i think it is easily explained by-#-it being on a podcast w three white (afaik) men who despite encountering some serious topics generally keep it light.#but i do get what you mean.. i just dunno if id write up two whole essay lengths asks about it. on the no nuance site.
