May 13th Reading

Definitely long awaited and way bigger than I intended it to be so buckle up.

Funky disclaimer: this is for entertainment purposes only and not to be taken as fact! This is my interpretation of the cards!

Oh boy. The continuation of yoongis soulmate saga.

(Note frome future me: it's not proofread but I'm hungry. Sorry for mistakes!)

So so so so

Let's start.

I started with all the normal jazz. Connecting with his energy and shit. Same as usual same old same old. Platform= same same. I was like, "hey, let's talk about your soulmate and the whole may 13th shit" and we connected via energy stringy thing to the forehead and such. I was intresting bc my end of the string was kinda my energy color! Neato. Looks like some rest has really done me good!

Okay, here's where I start actually asking shit. I made notes at this point before the reading as I usually do. I'm just gonna insert the screen shot here.

The 14 thing really fucked me up. You'll see later. Also, when I got the whole Pisces Jupiter thing I had to do me some googling bc we established that Jupiter went into Pisces ON May 13th so I was like?? Am I missing something?

I was. I forgot that it goes retrograde and then co.es back to Pisces on December 28th. And I do indeed think it to be significant.

The shit about temperance makes a lot of sense. In yoongis first soulmate read I flipped my shit bc he was like, "You're gonna get temperance reverse" in regards to a card for his soulmate and I was like "pft whatever. Don't play me like that"

And then I got temperance reverse. It's been a significant card from the jump.

I asked him if he had any advice for his soulmate and that's what "Don't wait for big things, you'll miss the small ones that lead you to bigger things" and "Look for facts before assuming" and "Don't try pushing it, forcing it won't make sense" and "A spade is a spade/ ace is an ace" and "Don't make ill informed guesses" all were

Now this part:

"Union has happened , yet to on the physical"

Gave me some hints thankfully because he straight up said no more hints.

This ties back into the whole Jupiter thing too. The seeds are/ have been planted and now they have to grow before they can be harvested.

Well Mr. Yoongi, I'm impatient and I don't want to wait. I want to see you in love pronto.

Anyways

He showed me a little dream box/ trinket box looking thing and a super vague Keychain with no further explanation... so... there's that I guess.

I can't quite decide if "Don't make ill informed guesses" was a tongue-in-cheek pike at me or if it was genuine advice to his soulmate? He just loves to not explain things.

Now let's begin the monster read.

So. The first row of cards

I asked the question, "what the fuck was May 13th and what was it's purpose in regards to your connection"

Important is what it was lol. I interpret this as them finding their footing and this being the starting point of the genuine foundation being layer. Like they've been manifesting eachother for a while but May 13th marked the start of them making the real life changes in their actual lives that will be the set up for them meeting.

The seven of coins is about thoughtful planning and creating security/ stable plan. The tower is essentially ripping away anything and everything that was built on unstable foundation and challenging/ testing your character (an extremely rude awakeing if you will). Judgement is releasing the past so you can rise above it and confronting yourself as you are (Also legit awakening) the queen of coins is financial security and self confidence in your abilities. Ten of coins is prosperity and abundance and most of all, stability. Eight of wands is explosion of potential and rapid movement. Temperance is awareness and balance between physical and spiritual. It's also that quiet peace where you find balance.

So. Seeing all those cards it really does seem like maybe his soulmate took on something new that could lead straight to union? Same for yoongi. I'd like to analyze and recent or new-ish habits or hobbies he's picked up?

Moving right along though. I asked what the 13th did for each of them in their personal life and personal journey. Kinda like what came as a result of that energy? Let's start with yoongles

This was really intresting to me. I think he definitely gained some form of clarity about the situation with that sun card. The 5 of cups tells me that either he was kinda forced to confront some of his flaws in a way that he was trying to avoid or he had to consciously let go of something dear to him? Could be something he had to leave behind because it crumbled with the tower moment but he didn't see it coming or didn't know that it was time to part with it? With that queen of wands though fits beautifully with the sun! Its like he's found warmth after a long winter. Definitely found a spark of compassion and generosity from a place of happiness and love rather than anger, fear, obligation or pitty.

I asked for clarity cards/ anything else that may 13th signified bringing in and we got the 2 of cups and 10 of swords. I have two thoughts. Either he let go of a relationship that he was already in because he didn't feel as though they were particularly compatible anymore (Also ties into the above section) OR the 13th had made him very much consciously aware of his soulmates incoming status and he is now preparing and working on himself for when this person comes. The 10 of swords would be him releasing the past and the pain and any ill fitting behavior that don't vibe with him any longer. Yellow really seems to be working for him by the way.

Soulmate time

Lol. All signs point to his soulmate genuinely starting a new venture. New creative pursuit that will bring them good money. 10 of pentacles is abundance, prosperity and stability. The ace of wands is a new creative spark and passion and it's the first big steps into something new. The 2 of wands is "the world is in the palm of your hands" vibes. Choices need to be made swiftly and with the ace of wands I think they will be. With the heirophant too, it will be a well informed decision because they've been manifesting this and has been searching for all the possible information.

As for clarity, we have the moon. Damn. Soulmates been doing that shadow work. Dredging up all their bullshit and getting rid of it while still taking the time to sit with it and release it so nothing is unresolved. Also probably extra creative due to all the emotional baggage being thrown out. (Definitely helping with the ace of wands vibes tbh)

Now for the bad boys in the middle

The question I asked is what those individual changes (detailed in the last two sections) will bring for the bond and I just can with them. These fuckers. I am so invested in their love story bc it's so... them? And just so fucking ROMANTIC. UGH I CAN'T.

Back to the point. High priestess, 4 of wands and the lovers. The high priestess is deep knowing and insane intuition, the 4 of wands is the purest joy and marriage and the lovers is well, the lovers.a magical union.

FUCK DUDE I NEED THIS TO BE A ROMCOM.

For the row of bottom cards

I asked if they had anything at all to add so I'm gonna explain each card individually bc I think they could be individual tid bits of shit.

Knight of coins is good news about finances/ money looking promising and organized work (also dependability!!). Death is all about transformation, the beginning of a new chapter and accepting in order to move foward. Ace of coins is spiritual and material abundance and also a reminder to keep grounded. Page of swords is confidence, important news coming and really good insight! Roots out secrets or hidden things like a truffle pig. The star is promising potential, healing and guidance from an enexpected place. The two of cups is a soul connection, love, intuition especially in regards to another person and a good bind. The emperor is self awareness, foresight, fearlessness to achieve a goal and confidence. Eight of coins rev is poor discipline and skating by on low effort.

Now to the sides!

Yoongi is the left, soulmate is the right.

So, let's begin with yoongi. The first two cards are anything he wants to say to his soulmate. Wheel of fortune and three of swords reverse. I take this as "its all in divine time/ it's destiny" (wheel of fortune) and "trust your intuition. It's okay to get hurt, you just need to remember you can always pick yourself up" (3of swords rev.)

We have now cards that I asked what he was learning through this process/ in this time. Be positive and first step.

The last two cards are affirmations he wants to give his soulmate.

"When I introduce joy to a situation, I change the vibrational frequency of what's happening around me" and "directing my focus onto what's thriving creates more of what I want"

Now for soulmates cards (same structure)

Strength and eight of swords. "You're stronger than you think. Take every part of yourself and acknowledge it. You're a force to be reckoned with" (strength) and (soulmate snapped at him on this) "the only thing holding you captive is you."

Now we have peer pressure (I think soulmate is learning to say "fuck you" and "fuck off" to people who have a set idea of how everyone should be living their lives), emotional healing and open your arms to receiving.

Then we have "its good to feel good" (lol I feel like yoongi definitely needs this one) and "when I connect to the spiritual realm, I open the door to recieve divine guidance, clear direction, and great wisdom"

The last stretch my friends.

So. Completion, leave behind the things that no longer serve you. Exist in the present and don't keep mulling over the past or any future happenings. Magic, pay attention to the magic around you. Listen for the signs of the universe and take them as they come (essentially listen to divine guidance) . Be open minded but logical as well. Luminous warrior, try focusing on the good in yourself instead of berating yourself for every small flaw. Spiritual path, self explanatory. The blade, your power can be a weapon when used willy nilly (most often wounding the wielder) or it can heal. Don't fear it but also consider how you choose to utilize it. The give away, be greaful for the sake of being greatful for it, not because you want something in return. The rain maker, manifestation station. Create with the tools you have because you have everything you need in order to manifest. "Don't take life personally"

Now we have heaven sent.

So I asked what numbers I should try refreshing and then it hit me. The number 14 came up before the reading and it seemed a bit misplaced? So I did 14 shuffles and look what popped up

You gotta be fucking with me.

Anyway,

I came back to the platform to be like, "thanks homie" and it was weird bc he was practically pure energy? Like usually I visualize his energy as what his physical body looks like because it's easier to comprehend? But nope, he was just a big shimmery glob of energy.

As I was going to disconnect, a few things happened. I felt tingly and the platform was vibrating almost? So I was like, "hold on, what the fuck is this?"

And then

It hit me

"MIN YOONGI IS YOUR SOULMATE HERE??"

I could tell this fuckin asshole was smug even in his blue glob form.

The color was... blue like yoongi but also a light lavender/ pink kinda vibe. Pretty damn distinct.

I was so stoked and I thought we'd all get to chat and I could yell at his soulmate for being an elusive asshat

But Mr smug butt had different plans.

My dude dropped a little marble thing in my hand and I was like ??? And he was like, "you'll know when you need it" and I was like ?????

My guide took pity on me and said, "it's just a representation on information that you've been given but it isn't the proper time to unpack it yet"

Cool cool so like and energetic zip file that will release itself whenever it damn well pleases? Cool cool cool.

Anyway, I genuinely think that my excitement of this whole situation must somehow also influence how yoongis energy handles my prodding? Like what the fuck is this marble bullshit?

To top it all off, he gives me a friendly shove off of his platform.

Now we are here. And as always, I'm left with more questions.

My main take away is that amay 13th through July 28th will be all the foundation and ground work and December 28th 2021 through May 10th (11th? 9th?) 2022 will be a more likely time for physical union and actual relationship stuffs.

Anyone who knows more about astrology please feel free to chime in on this whole Jupiter in Pisces bit! My understanding is super surface level!!

Notes: It isn’t exactly like that scene in chapter 14 because I tried to be creative. So don’t expect too much.

You worked with Din temporarily, till you could get back on your feet as a bounty hunter again. You used to be one of the best, but when Boba Fett died you went downhill very fast. Din helped you get a roof over your head after a few years of being homeless and broken hearted.

Din didn’t need to know that you used to be in a relationship with the galaxy's most famous bounty hunter.

When the ship came in through orbit you gasped loudly, Din looking at you. “Do you know that ship?” He spoke while looking back at the kid nervously. “I-I.” You felt years and years of memories rushing back to you. Slave I was Boba’s ship. If she was here…..does that mean??

No it couldn’t be. You had his armor…...which was probably the only thing that survived the Sarlacc. But Boba Fett was hard to kill…….so maybe? You felt tears in your eyes, kriff you missed him.

Din yelled your name and you jumped, “We need to move!” You shook your head, “Watch the kid! I’ll go check it out!” You ran down the hill, pulling out your blaster. Din watched, looking nervously between you and the kid on the rock.

You froze when you saw the ship, Slave I looked the same as always. Her paint was peeling and she was older than Boba’s late father, but damn she was beautiful. Your eyes weren’t open for long when the butt of a rifle hit you in the temple.

The last thing you saw was a Storm Trooper, then everything went black.

When you woke up you were in the middle of a fucking blaster fight. Din was practically standing on you, shooting down storm troopers. You screamed and sat up, screaming even louder when you saw someone very familiar. Thankfully you were behind Din, so you didn’t get shot.

Boba Fett was fucking fighting the Storm Troopers along side Din Djarin. You scrambled to your feet, hardly registering anything but the fact that Boba was alive. He had put on the armor, and was beating the shit out of some Storm Troopers with a Tusken Raider staff.

When the last few fled Boba walked after them, watching the ships take off. Boba Fett didn’t like to leave survivors. He shot one ship, which blew up and crashed into the other. “Nice shot.” You heard Din speak, Boba’s reply nearly making you sob. “I was aiming for the other one.”

The child was gone, which broke your heart. You couldn’t really feel that pain though, the past coming back and hurting much worse. You put a hand over your mouth, tears threatening to spill.

After the Razor Crest blew up you couldn’t even feel anything else but shock.The explosion was the last thing on your mind, Boba being alive was far more important than a piece of shit ship. Din had walked to the rubble, which gave you the perfect time to talk to Fett.

You walked over, “B-Boba?” Your voice was shaky, but your past lover heard you anyway. His head whipped around and he froze for a moment, “You-.......You’re alive!” You ran to him, Boba catching you and hugging you tightly.

You cried into his cloth covered neck, “You survived.” You whispered. Boba stroked your back and sighed through his helmet. You sobbed, but you didn’t exactly know for what reason.

Din and Fennec watched, both having no idea that you and Boba were close.

You stepped back and cupped the cheeks of his helmet. Before you could pull it off he put his hands over yours, “Wait. I was in the Sarlacc for two days…..I don’t look the same.” You shrugged and rubbed some of the chipped paint off with your thumb, “Boba I don’t care. I just want to see you.”

He let you remove his helmet, and he was just as handsome as he was the day you lost him. “You’re still a handsome man Fett.” You smiled, kissing him deeply. His lips were the same as they used to be, rough and chapped but perfect.

Din walked over, his voice sounding shaky from the loss of the child. “Care to explain?” Boba gave him the usual bemused Fett look, clearly not giving enough fucks to tell him. “Boba and I used to be an item. We worked together and all that.” You smiled like an idiot.

“When I was swallowed by a Sarlacc everyone thought I died. My recovery took me so long that I hadn’t found them yet.” Boba speaks, his fingers entangling with yours. You felt tears well up in your eyes at the thought of him alone.

~The next day~

Slave I was on autopilot, making its way to the next destination that Din had told Boba. You sat in the cockpit with Boba, watching him repaint his armor. You held the small tins of old paint as he worked silently, his strokes steady.

“You’re staring.” He muttered, not looking up from the Fett family farm mark on the chest plate. “Oh I’m not allowed to stare?” Boba narrowed his eyes, his lips twitching a little. “I missed you Boba, I think I’m allowed to stare.”

Boba glanced at you and smiled, “I suppose.” He said sarcastically. You rolled your eyes and took the finished chest plate from his hands, setting it by the others to dry. He was working on his knee plates now, the last pieces to do.

You were nearly asleep in the seat when Boba put the last piece down with the others, “All done.” He muttered, pressing a kiss to your forehead.

He sat back down in the pilots seat, pulling you into his lap. “I missed you.” You kissed him deeply, Boba happily kissing you back. You ran your hands down his arms and grinned, “You somehow got even sexier you know.” You muttered against his lips as you straddled him.

Boba rolled his eyes and kissed you again, he was never one for accepting compliments. “Too bad we’ll never be alone on this ship again.” You sighed. “When we stop he’s getting off to find a friend, we’ll be able to do some things then.”

Boba kissed your neck, the feeling sending lightning bolts down your spine. “Then I’ll show you just how much I missed you.”

My initials are LC or LJMC! One thing about me is that I like the colors blue or anything poppy really! Sorry it's vague.

Exchange: I feel people like you for your eyes and smell, it's a minor thing smell wise but it's a bitter yet intimidating smell, like a love spell filled with pepper and spice. like when a lot of us were young and mixed stuff in a bottle calling it a potion or smth. Your eyes are deep even if you may not like them or find flaws with them possibly. I feel you also like this feature at the same time. They draw people in and people like seeing your eyes matching your expression. Many of your patrons shine on you with gifts. They may not be large but little by little they lead up. Magic tricks came to mind for some reason (could be the video in watching). I see something you may think is large or frequent either Ron your body, in your mind, or around you in your life. Maybe someone new, a pet, smells, small bits of luck, memories. These are signs of something big I feel coming, a chance you may regret missing (random).

People like your spunk, at least the people who see it often, others would like to know about this side more. Some people may edge you on on bad days trying to get it out of you lol. Your views on the world make others content, I feel you may not share with often but they always enjoy the tiniest bit of your sharing such things since your beliefs may be hidden from the public. I heard croissant, calzone. Weird lol. May enjoy sharing topics or interest randomly, people didn't that nice. You may have a facial markings or freckles somewhere that others adore. Hello! I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but how do you become proficient at handling conversations in Japanese/handling grammar very well? I read your post on the JLPT, and it addressed issues I have been tip toe-ing around--indeed, passive actions such as listening or reading are easier than the active ones. How did you go about that? Did you write a bunch of sentences daily? Did you have a conversation partner? What would you rec. to someone who lives outside Japan? Thank you!

This is an excellent question, and one that I get asked a lot irl by Japanese people in particular. Let’s talk about gaining fluency and the ways we can go about it!

How to Gain Fluency in Japanese (and Other Languages)

Speaking Fluency versus Accuracy

Language proficiency is divided into two separate categories:

Fluency: Although there are no widely agreed-upon definitions or measures of language fluency, someone is typically said to be fluent if their use of the language appears fluid, or natural, coherent, and easy as opposed to slow, halting use. In other words, fluency is often described as the ability to produce language on demand and be understood.

Accuracy: Correctness of language use, especially grammatical correctness and word choice.

By the above definitions, a “fluent” speaker may make grammatical mistakes, but they can speak without having to stop and think too much about conjugations, word choice, etc.

An “accurate” speaker can speak with nearly zero grammatical/word choice mistakes. However, the speed of their utterances isn’t generally taken into account, so it could take an “accurate” person twice as long to articulate the same idea as a “fluent” person.

Ideally, you need to strike a good balance between these two qualities when speaking. I have a boss, God bless him, who is 100% fluency and 0% accuracy and…man is it hard to understand what he’s saying sometimes, but he can generally get his point across just barely. I have another coworker who is 100% accuracy and takes about 3 minutes to form a sentence because he wants it to be perfect.

How to Increase Speaking/Writing Accuracy

First, let’s talk about the easiest thing to improve, which is accuracy. It’s also (in my opinion) the least fun thing to improve, because it means grammar books and vocabulary memorization.

You can only use a language accurately if you know what is correct and what is incorrect, and you can only learn that by studying grammar and vocabulary (or if you’re a native speaker and picked it up innately, you lucky bastard).

So here’s some things you can do to increase your accuracy:

For example, if you’re having a hard time using the passive, you need to review that part of your textbook and find some exercises to drill it into your head.

Say the correct thing aloud. Lots. Sometimes I just walk around my apartment and narrate everything I see/do like a crazy person, but that’s good practice.

Write example sentences using the grammar you’re struggling with and say them aloud too.

There’s a bunch of cool apps that connect you with native speakers that can help correct you too! I used to use HelloTalk, I think.

If you’re a creative soul, when I was studying for the JLPT, I took 1 grammar point and 5 vocabulary words from my JLPT study books and used them to write a 2-page short story about the adventures of ネギ, a stray black cat that smelled like green onions because she napped in an onion field. Then I had a Japanese friend check it over for me and mark mistakes. I hand-wrote them to improve my abysmal handwriting at the same time. It was really fun! I sometimes think about doing it again just for funsies.

When someone corrects you, don’t feel like your entire life is over and you’re a failure and you’ll never get it right haha. I’ve seen people fall into that hopeless mindset, and that’s just nonsense. It’s a good opportunity for learning and nothing more! Say the correct thing you’ve just been taught out loud, then write it down if you can. And, if possible, find a chance to use it in conversation asap.

How to Increase Speaking/Writing Fluency

Now this is the hard one. Especially for those learners who do not have native speakers nearby.

I’m going to be dead honest with you. I started formally studying Japanese at uni, and I had a Japanese roommate/best friend since year one. I had a 4.0 GPA in my Japanese classes (and only my Japanese classes lol) because I was and still am a MEGA NERD about it.

...But it wasn’t until I studied abroad in Japan my 4th year of uni that I gained fluency.

There are a lot of things that can hold us back from fluency. An interesting thing I’ve noted is that Foreign Language is perhaps the only subject in which a student’s personality can directly affect their progress. To gain fluency, you have to go forth and speak, but if you are naturally a shy person, that is going to hinder you. If you are the kind of person who takes mistakes/failures poorly, you will be less likely to take risks and try to say harder sentences. In contrast, you can get full marks in math regardless of the above personality traits.

I’m not saying that you have to be an outgoing explosion of a human being in order to gain fluency. But what I am saying is that you have to be willing to seek out conversations, and you have to be willing to take chances. Get out of your comfort zone. Use that new word you picked up the other day. Try to explain something that is difficult for you.

My problem was that, while I lived with a native speaker who would have happily taught me anything I asked, her English proficiency was much higher than my Japanese proficiency. And when I struggled to say something in Japanese, I’d fall back onto English. And when she told me something I didn’t understand in Japanese, she’d repeat it in English instead of Japanese, because that was easier for us both. The same thing happened when I was in Japanese class as well. I always had the assurance that I could fall back on English.

But when I elected to study abroad in Japan for 3 months, I knew that this was my big chance. So on the host family form in the “other requests” area, I wrote that I specifically wanted a host family that could not speak English. I was setting fire to my crutches, and I was scared but excited to see them burn.

By the end of my three months in Japan, I had gone from “Chotto matte kudasai” and needing a minute to form my reply, to “Okay, yeah I see that movie too and I liked the action scenes, but I didn’t care for the story little.” (I’ve underlined mistakes that I would have made in Japanese, to show you that I sacrificed some accuracy to obtain higher fluency.)

So, in short, the easiest and quickest way to increase your spoken fluency is to throw away all the crutches you can and use the language as much as possible. Every single day. Even if you’re just having an imaginary conversation with yourself! And like I said, there are a bunch of cool apps that connect you with Japanese people who want to learn English and you can do language exchanges with them. I had a lot of fun with those in the past.

As for increasing writing fluency...well. That’s a tough question with Japanese, because I can type Japanese at like 100 wpm, but my Japanese handwriting fluency is at a 10/100. I can read and type at the level of a native Japanese high school student, but I can only write the kanji that 7 year old can write. That’s no exaggeration.

The big reason for that dichotomy is that my work is paper-free. 100% of my work is done on screen, so about the only time I have to write out something is when I’m filling out a form, which includes my name (katakana), address, and maybe occupation.

If you want to increase your Japanese handwriting speed, just keep on writing. Write those little short stories about ネギ like I did, or find some writing prompts (I just started a side-blog with writing prompts yesterday btw) or keep a little diary. Make opportunities to write.

How to Have Nice Handwriting in Japanese

Okay, full disclaimer: I am the absolute LAST person qualified to talk about this, because I have awful handwriting in Japanese.

Unless you have prior experience with a different language that uses kanji, or you lack the keen eye of an artist, you will likely struggle to develop neat handwriting.

Personally, I really like using this app called Japanese Kanji Sensei. It’s on Android (not sure about iOS), and if you pay just a few bucks you can make your own kanji sets and stuff. Anyways, it will show you how to write the characters prettily. It gives you a good frame of reference for what nice, pencil/pen-written characters (versus calligraphy characters). It has hiragana and katakana on it too!

I get a stylus and write out the characters on this app for the muscle memory, so my hands remember the sensation of writing a certain character. (The muscle memory is different if you only use your fingertip.) This muscle memory and repetition is how Japanese people learn how to internalize kanji as well. I really enjoy and recommend this app. I’m sure that there are others out there like it too.

TL;DR: Review your textbooks, take risks, use every resource available or make your own, and just have fun with it! 💗

Guess who's making a "how to manage dealing with a massive list of edits" post instead of working on said edits! Me!

Ok so this has taken me FOREVER to really figure out and implement in my life so I thought I'd make a post about it. This is how I deal with getting edits back after sending in a paper (specifically my thesis proposals) to my mentor.

Step 1. Open the document.

This is the absolute hardest step. No seriously. It is. You get the email back, you see the attachment with their initials at the end of the doc name, you know there's edits in there, the email says "here you go! Good work!" That day, ASAP, download that attachment and open it briefly, to scan just how terrifying this task will be.

Step 2. Close it and cry. (Tears are optional but the soul crushing feeling of being on your 5th round of edits is not).

It's okay, deal with it tomorrow. Seriously, go work on something else while you emotionally recover.

Step 3. Mentally prepare yourself to do the edits.

Put it on your to do list for tomorrow. Then when you don't do it, put it on the next day. And the next day. Even when you know it's impossible to get to, put it on there because the stress will build and you'll eventually get to it and Not forget it exists (vvvvv important).

Step 4a. Actually start your edits by opening the doc.

Don't set out like you're going to do everything in one sitting. Open the document with the intention of Starting, not doing. This is a mental battle. Yes battle. Having a good strategy will trump any "smarts" or writing ability you have.

Step 4b. Get out a notebook to write down what you have to do.

If you have do a split screen and can write in a separate document, go ahead, but I found that the absolute only way I can make progress is if I fullscreen my doc and have a notebook and pencil to write stuff down. Now you have 1) doc open, 2) notebook in front of you. Yes these are considered a whole ass step bc they are.

Step 5. Go through and accept all the edits and write down things to do as they come up.

Skip that "read your edits first!" bullshit, you won't, you'll just get stressed, then you gotta reread it all over when you actually start editing. Dive right into dipping your toe in. DO NOT start fully editing. Look at each revision and decide if it's a Quick Fix (i.e. click "accept change" in Word) or a Task. If it's a Quick Fix, go ahead and do it. If it's a Task, even if it's just revising a singular sentence, write it in your notebook. Don't worry about an order/priority/anything, just write everything down. If you're doc is longer than a few pages (mine is 26 so...yeah) write down the page number along with the Task.

Step 6. Organize your Tasks.

Now you have gone through your whole doc and there's no little spelling errors, grammar mistakes, or simple edits to make. And most importantly, you have a list of bigger edits to do, start to group the Tasks. This is when it starts to get super individualized (to you, your paper, and your mood). I start with going through and marking with a line anything I am in the mood for, can do, or should do today (or first, and by first I mean "now" vs "ehhhh later").

Step 7a. Go through your marked Tasks and make more marks.

Only focusing on the initially marked Tasks, start to group them into stuff you can do together. For me, this is any simple info that needs to be inputted or sentences that need editing. My dash next to these Tasks gets turned into plus mark. Note this is the simplest edits I will need to make. You can also designate the initial dash to be its own grouping, but it should naturally end up like that at the end.

Step 7b. Go through marked Tasks again and do the same thing with a different grouping.

Relooking at my dashed Tasks, excluding my + Tasks, I make more groupings. Now it's more time consuming stuff like finding more resources, or rereading sources to be able to accurately edit the sentence. This new group now get more lines to be an asterisk!

Step 7c. Make even more marks!

Can your Tasks be further grouped??? Probably! If you have a short paper, maybe you only have like two groupings, but maybe you have like 5. Who knows! Get creative with your marks! The Tasks I'm designating as last/a lot of work and comprehension are an asterisk with a circle around them. If it's been a few weeks since you asked for edits, you probably will need to work A LOT harder on paragraph and key sentence revisions if you out those first than if you put them after you've been immersed in your topic for a couple hours.

Step 7d-z. Keep making groupings depending how many Tasks you have. I'd suggest keeping it to 2-5 Tasks per group so it's manageable but not excessive. For this particular round of edits, I have 5 groups and that's perfect.

Step 8. Find the easiest/quickest group and do all those Tasks.

My first grouping I made of sentence edits will be the easiest I think, so I'll do that first! If you're motivated and inspired to do a harder group, go for it! But again, do something that will allow you to start really working without being overwhelmed.

Step 9. Cross off all the First Group Tasks you've done!

Yes this is its own step! Cross them all off! You did a good job! Erase them! Get a Sharpie and black that line out of existence! Yay!

Step 10-?. Keep doing the Tasks in each group until you're out of groups and Tasks!

Step 11-?. Cross off the groups and Tasks! Seeing your progress visually makes a big difference! You got this!

Step 12. Read over any non-task comments your teacher/mentor has made and/or your entire paper. Make sure everything makes sense!

Step 13. Save the doc with the date you finished your edits (or fudge it and say sorry forgot to send it to you lol) and send it back to your teacher/mentor (if applicable; if you only get one round and it's not a proposal or something then you'd just submit it). In your email, briefly go over what you did. This is when grouping tasks really comes in handy because I can reference "oh yeah all these edits were x type of edits" and I can say "I accepted all your in-text edits and made the sentence changes you suggested. Additionally, I added abc sources and rearranged the order of the paragraphs specified." This also avoids your mentor re-reading everything and giving you MORE edits on everything (bc they will; this round my mentor is editing his own words from past sentence edits at various places lol) and just focusing on the key changes you made and need feedback on.

Step 14. Take a nap! Seriously! Reward yourself for doing such a Big Thing and take a break! Don't immediately go onto the next assignment, make sure your brain separates *chunk of edits* from *other simpler assignments* so it isn't mentally a whole block of *work*.

I hope this helps somewhat??? Or someone can reference this when coming up with a way to tackle feedback that works for them. I'm starting grad school next year (hopefully) which will actually be a reduction in long-term research projects lmao but I will be having more Giant papers that will receive feedback. Having a system, or knowing options is so incredibly helpful for me because when I read what other people do I can be like "nope not doing that" and it can help narrow down what would work for me. Most importantly, just break up your work into a lot of different sections! It helps with (poor) executive functioning, motivation, and brings it out visually so you can mentally tackle what you're doing instead of "ahhh ~lots of edits~"

Oh B, I’m so so sorry. I understand the pressure, and I know it’s not easy dealing with your parents expectations, and I also know that the whole education thing in India is a huuuuge stressor. It’s normal to feel anxious and scared, even if you don’t have an anxiety disorder. Those are very important exams, and it doesn’t help that everyone expects you to be perfect, and I also know the words of a random guy online aren’t gonna change how you feel. But you can’t let other people’s expectations dictate your life. It’s incredibly hard, and I’m not really the one to talk cause I care so much about what people think of me. But this is your education, this is your future, and you get to create it. You have to do your best, work hard, yes, but don’t punish yourself for not being perfect, cause nobody is ok? You’re gonna be scared and anxious, but you gotta trust yourself, study hard, but stay safe mentally. You’re always gonna worry about more than what’s on your hands, you need to remember that. You can worry about studying, that you can control, you can do your very best, but you can’t worry about what other think of you, what other believe, because that’s not on your hands, that’s on theirs.

You’re gonna do great in those exams, you’re gonna pass, it doesn’t matter if it’s with full marks in all subjects or not (tbh it’s very unrealistic to get full marks in all exams...). Also, a very important thing you gotta remember is, no matter how you do in them, or what people think or say, you are smart! One test in one specific moment of your life does not represent how smart you are or how successful you’re gonna be.

Education is important, going to a good university is important, but whatever you want to do in life, you will be able to do it, because you can. It doesn’t matter if you have the worst teacher in the world, if you’re interested in the subject, you’re gonna learn either way. No matter if you go to the best university, and get the best marks in all exams or not, what you want to do, you will do it, because you’re the one in control. Please remember that <3

That’s awful! I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I’m sure your sister didn’t mean to make things difficult, she probably just made a mistake. That doesn’t eliminate the consequences tho, but you should talk to her, and tell her to be more carefull next time, at least so you both can still have that safe and private space to talk about whatever, and so nobody takes your phones away.

And listen, parents and older people don’t understand these things... You’re not doing anything wrong, and as much as you use media and lcdp specifically as an escape, it’s not interfering with your life, it’s something you use to unwind, it’s a hobby, and a source of inspiration and motivation. It’s not only not wrong, but it’s in fact good! We need those things, it’s helping your creativity, analysis skills, you use it to socialize, to have fun, to express your feelings, to bond with friends and with your sister. You mom can say all she wants, and call it “jobless things”, but those things are what make life a little more bearable. I’m sure she has her hobbies, her interests, this is the same. I know you know all this, but sometimes, hearing it from someone else, helps to settle it in your brain a bit better ;)

I’m not suggesting you confront your parents if that’s not a possibility, I don’t know the situation in your home (and I also understand if you’re just not comfortable cause same with my mom). But at least, don’t let her opinions affect you, easier said than done, I know.

I hope you feel better soon, and get your private space back as soon as possible, that’s important. But I’m sure your mom is gonna forget about this soon enough. Oof I want to hug you so bad right now, please know that I’m always here for you, this is a 100% safe space for whatever you need, I’m always gonna do my best to help, at least listen to you and reassure you that you’re fine and great! <3 I know I keep saying this, and I hope you don’t take it as me pressuring you, these asks really don’t bother me, but if you ever wanna come off anon, and use tumblr direct messages (that have no limit *cough cough i hate tumblr cough cough*) the way you used hangouts with your sis, I’m fully down for it ;)

I see you're a huge fan of new hh I honestly don't really see the appeal there, I much prefer the original cast and none of the songs seem as good (if you have any songs from the new seasons you think can rival 1-5 songs, please send them my way) but I'm just wanting to say that I'm sorry for all the people being horrible on your posts about it. Even if I think the songs are rip offs of better, earlier songs (Warlords from Hell seems to just be Roman Emperors: We're Bad) I respect you. :D

hi! thanks first of all for the message, im definitely getting a bit tired of people reblogging stuff from me/replying directly just to tell me my horrible histories posts make them throw up in their mouth etc etc. anything else is refreshing. slightly longish reply ahead!

tbh the biggest reason i like the new stuff so much is that it’s still horrible histories? it does the same stuff, its purpose is the same, all of that. its still a fun sketch show that, as a history student, i get a lot of enjoyment out of even if it’s obviously meant for children. horrible histories is so incredibly nostalgic for so many people (the cast especially) which is why i totally get why people are reluctant to watch the new stuff, and are even hostile to it. but i believe writing off all of the new stuff immediately without giving it a proper go is unfair and does a disservice to the new cast and the writers who are like, still winning awards lmao. another reason why im such a proponent of the new seasons is that i think someone should be, that someone should gif the funny parts of it, that the cast should still be supported and encouraged and celebrated. im sure you can see i dont have a lot of ‘allies’ in this regard but a fair few of my gifsets/photosets purely of the newer seasons have done pretty well, which encourages me that the content is still funny once you remove yourself from the assumption that it’s going to be absolutely terrible by virtue of the fact it doesnt have the six idiots in it

and on that note, i didnt like it at first either! i was a fan of seasons 1-5 first, watched every episode and owned all the dvds, even had the brief obligatory crush on mat baynton lol. im still a fan of it now... believe it or not you can like both iterations at the same time. i persisted with the new seasons despite some initial reluctance because i love the concept of the show so much, and im rly attached to the new cast now as well (although the cast has rotated since series 6 - the main consistent cast members are jessica ransom, tom stourton, and jalaal hartley)

i agree with you that the songs arent as good, a lot of the time. i put it down to less involvement from the cast (particularly larry, who wrote a ton of sketches and seemed to have a lot of general creative involvement), and the fact that we live in a different time now and the songs are engineered to appeal to a different generation of kids. it’s not as palatable, and they often do unfortunately miss the mark, but they’ve been steadily finding their feet. there’s a wonderful site that someone’s set up with playlists containing all the songs from series 1-8 (including the 2016 specials, which i consider to be highlights). im wary of including links here just in case the post doesn’t show up, but google ‘horrible histories tv wixsite’ and it should be a couple of results down!

since you asked, here are some of my favourite songs, not just from the new seasons but overall (and therefore are songs i believe can rival the originals):

season 6: magna carta, alfred the great (’i’m out of town’), a little more reformation, mary queen of scots song, napoleon bonaparte, antony and cleopatra (’i can’t go on’)

season 6 specials: literally ALL of them. the shakespeare song is a huge favourite and i also adore the great fire one (’starting over again’)

season 7: casanova, downtown threat, good vaccinations, all about this base, qin leader, heroes, iron curtain falls

season 8: bronte sisterhood, romantic poets, flying to the moon, for the common people, moving picture show (and there’s more still to come, including a song about ira aldridge that im really excited for)

if you can’t find the site/playlists i’m talking about just send me another message and i’ll sort you out!! im not sure where youre from but if you have access or a vpn, abc iview (australia) and bbc iplayer both have episodes from series 6-8 so you can check those out if you want!

last thing i’ll say is that i get where you’re coming from with warlords from hell; theyve reused the boyband idea a lot of times too, but theyre hardly carbon copies of the old songs, and i think the new cast and crew deserve credit for how far theyve gone in making the show their own. i mean, they overhauled the format entirely, focusing on people and concepts as opposed to randomised time periods, and it’s worked really well for them. tbh i think that the show is more historically focused now than it used to be - they’re able to go into different topics and historical figures with a lot more depth since they’re not constantly jumping between time periods ten times an episode.

Same person who asked that question thank you for answering though I feel a bit bad you paused in eating just to answer. Anyway I'd like a matchup if fine? I have a preference for guys and an immense love for animals, kickboxing, soccer, plushies, and videogames. I'm very introverted and have a hard time speaking up or being in crowded areas. I've been told I don't tend to show emotions outwardly well but I do try to make up for that by showing how I feel through actions or -1-

-2- by making stuff/gifts for the people I care about. I put others above myself and I would do anything for those I really care about. I enjoy psychical affection a lot and I can be a little clingy at times. Though I have some health issues that can cause varying amounts of pain in a majority of my body it also causes a bad sensitive to heat and for me to stutter or have to repeat words occasionally. Sorry I tried to keep it short but I tend to ramble.

-I can hear the distant sound of a whip cracking while Dabi stares lovingly at you when he thinks you don’t notice him. He is absolutely whipped for you but there is no way in Hell that he will ever admit that. He just keeps his same old cocky expression of smugness. He’s like “No, can’t you see? Y/N is whipped for me, not the other way around.” Okay Dabi, whatever you say

-He takes note of your love for animals and offers to get a pet with you after you guys make it to the 2 year mark with each other. He only accepts Dogs, Cats, and Lizards. No turtles, fish, ferrets, birds etc. (Unless its a bird he can teach curse words to) Even after getting the pet he says it’s your responsibility and he doesn’t care for it. However, here he is getting multiple supplies because the pet is his best friend now. He’s literally those memes about dads and dogs lol

-He’ll never understand the thing you’ve got going for soccer, but he thinks kickboxing is pretty badass. “Hey, you should learn some of that so you can protect yourself.” He says as he watches a boxing match with you from the comfort of your couch.

-He doesn’t have all the money in the world, but he’s a villain. He does the 5 finger discount and steals you games along with small plushies. He doesn't tell you he steals them because he doesn’t want yo to already think worse of him. He doesn’t give a shit what other people think of him because your opinion matter more.

-He knows you’re an introvert. This works out pretty well for him since he’s a wanted villain. Avoiding large crowds is a must for both of you, and it makes for some pretty creative indoor dates.

-He knows you have a hard time saying what you feel and he does too. This is why it’s essential you both display your affections through your actions. Dabi isn’t blind and he can tell just how much you love him by how you act towards him. He also knows this applies to other emotions as well. He can tell when you’re sad by the way your head hangs low, or the way yo purse your lips. He knows when you’re angry by the difference in your playful glares or threatening ones. he can tell you wanna...go at it by the way you smirk at him. He can tell you’re sleepy by the way your blinks slow down. He’s so attuned to you at this point

-Keeps all the little gifts you give him. Carries the smallest one around in his jacket pocket when you two are apart

-He’s always annoying you abut your health and trying t make sure you are okay on a daily basis. (Also, don’t fret about your stutter because he finds it a little cute)
