Love English music all you want, but NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING, hits harder than desi music. Like every single singer has their own trademark genre which they can execute PERFECTLY??
Can we talk about Arijit’s Mai gehra tamas tu sunehra sawera main tera in Kalank?
or his Tum sath ho ya na ho kya fark hai, bedard thi zindagi bedard hai in Agar tum sath ho?
or Tujh sang sukhi roti bhaye in Mast Magan? Ok leave that.
Lets talk about Atif’s Khayalon me lakho baaten yun toh keh gaya, bola kuch na tere saamne in Tu jaane na?
or Rafta rafta tera hua, tere bin mai hu benishan in Tera hua?
or Tenu lakhan ton chhupa ke rakhaan akkhaan te sajaa ke tu ae meri wafaa, rakh apna bana ke main tere layi aan yaara in Dil Diyan Gallan? Ok leave that
Let's talk about KK's Chaand Teri roshni ka halka sa ek saaya hai in Ajab Si?
Or dil kyun yeh mera shor kare, idhar nahi udhar nahi teri orr chale in Dil Kyu Yeh Mera?
Or lut Gaye hum teri mohabbat me in Tadap Tadap? Ok leave that.
Let's talk about Jubin Nautiyal's tum se jo mil gaye, Mausam khil gaye, khudse ladne Lage hum sawarne lage in sawarne lage?
Or Mausam mohabbaton ke, lamhe ye chahaton ke apne liya bane hai maan le in Gazab ka hai din?
Or tere bina main na rahu mere bina tu in raatan lambiyan? Fine, leave that as well.
Lets talk about Shreya Ghoshal's kaise huzurji ye lab dikhlaaye, chuppi lagake bhi gazab hai yeh dhaye in saibo.
Or Ye ishq haaye baithe bithaaye jannat dikhaye hain in ye ishq?
Or Dil bharta nahi, aankhen rajjti nahi, chaahe kitna bhi dekhti jaaun, waqt jaaye main rok na paaun in Thodi Der?
And DO NOT get me started on Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Ji, Asha ji and Sonu Nigam. Desi songs are peak lyrics, romance, emotion and vocals. You're straight up wrong if you think ANYTHING can beat that. I love Taylor, 1D and all, but Hindi songs? Absolutely unmatched!
Heya! Thankyou @shyam-kariya for tagging me in this. Mera Aisa koi particular genre nhi hai music ka... Thoda thoda sab sun rkha h. Lemme know if u guys like my music.❣️
Accha I think for Tumblr, Hindi music would be appropriate..so here goes.
1. Aarambh ~ Piyush Mishra Hassss to be my top one..cos it gives me positive energy and motivation when I'm low.
2. Humko kiske gham ne mara~ Ghulam Ali. If u are into ghazals and sufi , I bet u will like this too... It's all the genz needs and I love it for its harmonium piece.
3. Saason ki mala pe ~ Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan A weird thing of mine, but this long masterpiece of kawali is a beautyyyyyy it's all about dedication to higher soul and I let it just play while studying.
4. Rafta rafta ~ Mehdi Hassan. Ik it's been heard on insta too much now...but hey I looooveee this beauty. It's love described in words, I think if u want to know how it feels like to fall in love, just hear this.
5. Chingari koi bhadke~kishore Kumar. Looking for a good cry after a breakup but in the retro way??? Hear it and let the flow begin... It's just pain...plain old simple sadness.
6. Jis gali mei Tera Ghar ~ Mukesh. This is just dark in it's own way although it talks about a lover, and I love it for it's darkness. Do give it a try 😁
I'm giving the links to the songs... For your easy access.
Also , I'd like my frnds to join in on this...❣️❣️ @kyunbhai @hsnaayar @anarkali-disco-chali @seedhe-pahad-se @itsshivam05 @aahanna @hum-aapke-hain-kaun @emartirabdi (apologies if I forgot someone)
there's just something about "aap" pronoun when talking to your loved one. like "aapki aankhon mein kuch mehke hue se raaz hain" or "aapke anurodh par main yeh geet sunata hu". the kindness, the love, the 'nazakat' in that mannerism is unmatched.
let's say, hypothetically, ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si. And for the sake of drama, let's add, soti raaton mein jaagi si. Now, if we were to conclude, mili ek ajnabee se koi aage na peeche.
I’ve been binging a lot of Kishore Kumar songs/movies during the past days and . Wow.
I did not know that it was possible to give expressions from mere voice until now. Apart from being what is probably the most melodious male singer I’ve ever heard, I can hear the Joy when he says Jhoom jhoom kauwa bhi dholak bajae, Fun in Ek Chatur Nar, Sadness in Koi humdum na rha, Love in Pal bhar ke liye koi hume pyaar kar de. Heck even the infatuation in his voice when he sings Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si, as if this man does not completely need pace and composition and all to make his songs sound a certain way, and his own vocal abilities can enhance to the feel. He literally sang a song about 5 rupya 12 aana and somehow made it feel exactly like what something with that name should feel like, like how💀
I’ve heard many brilliant singers from Mukesh to Md. Rafi to even present day wonders like Sonu Nigam (who is also another man who seems to posses this ability) but I’ve never heard anyone else who made me feel like he was living the art as much as this man. This guy was so talented he could write scripts, act, and sing in his own movies and do all of that with perfection.
I have no idea why I wrote this here but I felt like I needed to let the world know that it is a big old crime to sleep on this man’s talents.
whenever we hear divinities like koi Iowa de mere beetey hue di, yeh dil na hota bechara, koi humdum na raha, mere sapno ke rani, yeh sham mastani, jindagi ka safar, tere mere milan ki rain, main shayar badnam etc. there are 2 stages
vibing with the song and its feeling.
wondering at how possibly could one single voice give you such multitude of emotions.
listen to any fm radio station and you are sure to hear one of the many memorable melodies of the kishore kumar-rd burman era.
and whenever we hear today's RJs and masses, it surprises us how just about everyone ends upon the legendary kishore da, as if he were a contemporary.
which he is and always will be.
relevance isn't a word in kishor da's dictionary, because he never loses it.
