Pairing: Billy Hargrove x GN!Reader

Summary: Billy’s not sure he’s ever felt the way he does around you. 1.3k words.

If Billy's shallow breathing is any indication of his dignity, he's sure you're the last person who wants to see him considering the tissue blooming from his nostril and the dried crest of blood above his brow and the gash along his tense jaw. He should not have come to you. He wouldn't have. But in the single moment of clarity he's had all night, he found you're probably the only person who'd let him in.

And you did it so gracefully, all the sweetness warm at your honeyed fingertips, instinctual in the path to your bathroom. He had laughed at the shag toilet cover before flattening it for the next twenty minutes.

"Careful 'bout tilting your head back," you coo, hips squared against the porcelain counter, wringing a damp rag in your winding palms. And he groans, dropping chin to chest. Trying not to look at you because he knows what it'll start. A war, truly, in the pit of his belly, stoking up the front line flames until he coughs up bullet casings and scrap metal and splinters.

"Sorry," he grumbles out.

"Oh, no, it's not a problem, just don't want you hacking up anything too unsavory," you say with eyes sparkling and set on the red smeared across his upper lip. He looks like hell, and you're pretty sure that milky button up is ruined.

You didn't know what to say when he slumped against your doorframe, raggedy in his beat up Levi's, red in the face and panting like prey. But he blinked the sheen from his eyes, and you helped him set up camp in your empty halls for the night. He still thinks his Camaro looks best sitting pretty on your curb.

"Alright," you whisper, two fingers flat under his chin, steadfast when he swallows hard. Just to keep him from hanging his head like a dead man. Knees to knees, he's hunched over, peering through his lashes at your focused frown. "Might sting."

He closes his watery eyes with the towel dragging over his mouth; you thumbing his rough skin through the thick fabric like he's not doused in it. Blood, that is, snd it's always been there. Under his fingernails or swelling his eye or rushing in his ears.

He hisses, but it doesn't hurt all that much. You still pull away, hands off at the scare even though he shakes his head like the pain doesn't matter to him. Or you.

"Need a break? Some... water or... we've got sweet tea downstairs—?"

"'M good," he hums, pushing a wisp of a golden curl behind his ear. "Don't worry about me."

You click your tongue and tilt your head to the side. And he welcomes you between his legs this time, palms gripping the lid of the toilet, trying his best to keep his head level.

"Easier said than done," you tease only to keep him occupied while you sponge at the litter of bruises and knicks by his chin. Flaking the dried blood away, giving way to smooth patches of clean skin. After a while, he gets a little desensitized to the raw and scraping feeling, and suddenly it's all you. Just his big blue eyes and your fingertips feeling the plump of his warm cheek.

"You're too sweet to me, sugar."

You scoff.

"Well, somebody's gotta look after that mug'a yours."

He stands when you shuffle back to the sink, plopping the wet towel over the drain, and running the faucet while you grab a box of bandaids from the cabinet.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

You smile down at the thin paper packaging as you fuss with the loose adhesive and nod him over. He nearly lunges for you, tripping and catching himself with his hip shoved against the edge of the counter. He'd blame it on the head rush. The adrenaline or blood loss or something like that.

"Wouldn't want to ruin such a pretty face."

He's too busy to take you in like he usually would. With a subtle down and up. He’s breathing so deep in his tight chest it aches, air twisting down his throat because he doesn't get it. Why you're like that. Why you're nice, and no less, to him. Of all people. It catches him so off-guard he forgets his own damn charm.

"Alright, come here."

He grins with the side of his face that doesn't burn. "Bossy."

"Kinda hard to patch you up if you keep dodging me," you tease, splitting the wax paper seal of the bandaid and aiming it for his jaw, "come here."

He goes quiet. All nerves, choked up, and leaning for you. Turning his head away from the mirror to give you a good angle. You lay two more on him, and it makes him feel nice when you pat down the edges to be sure they won't peel up. Even though that much is inevitable. He thinks you're underestimating how much he smiles around you.

"Good as new." You look at him like he's worth more than his bargain market price tag. Like he's saddled with antiquity. Like done healing and finally safe. "Did you wanna stay over? House is free for the weekend, you're welcome to stay as long as you want."

And maybe that's all he's ever wanted to hear from you. That he's welcome. All threadbare and sporting violet eye bags, just to be allowed to stay is enough.

The rest is easy. Easier than it ever has been for him. To accept the hand you give him, the seat waiting on the edge of your bed, and the cool glass of water you slip between his thumb and fingers. Easy to let it flow through his tightly wound body like lifeblood.

He doesn’t try to sneak a sly peek at you when you change into a pair of drawstring pants. And the pale light spattered across the soft green walls flicks out, leaving only the lamp on your bedside table. The only light in the house. It’s warm over your pillows, barely tucking beneath your thick comforter and drifting off into darkness.

He likes how much you know without having to ask. How all you do is look at him to see.

And you don’t ask him to lay down or tell him your trust him enough to meet him halfway. But you don’t face him, and you both know it’s for the better. He can feel something small and shocking radiating from the static along your wrists and thighs and the way you don’t flinch with his heavy arm draped over your ribcage. And his nose buried against the nape of your shoulder and neck.

“Like it when you do that,” he whispers, tucking his knees up behind yours, his boots staining your mattress, but you’ll change the sheets tomorrow anyway.

You sigh out a laugh.

“Do what?”

“Dunno,” he says. And his mouth is so close, each syllable purses against your skin and tastes its sweaty cologne. “Just… whatever it is—it’s you, and it’s nice.”

You’ve learned not to laugh when he rushes his words. When things are particularly difficult to stomach, he spits them all over with a glottal headiness you’ve grown used to. You nod.

“And I get it—I get stubborn about you and about this”—he shudders in his chest before continuing—“but I… it’s nice to have you… around.”

His eyes are shut when he shifts closer, but yours are wide open. Feeling the fault bust apart and rattle your once fortified walls.

You lick your dried lips and say, “not so bad yourself,” while drawing your fingertips over his softening knuckles.

He snickers.

And you yank the chain of the stained glass lamp with two fingers before settling back into his embrace. And he smiles.

I would love to write this scene, thank you for suggesting it!

For this purpose the MC bestowed the name 'Ash' on The Hunger, inspired by the remnants of fire, and a call to it's shadowed form. (Not derogatory.)

It sits on the floor of the bedroom, like it has been for the past couple hours.

You walk further into the room, arms laden with an impressive array of snacks. "Hey, Ash. I brought some stuff for you." You plop yourself down next to it and extend the tray out.

It opens its mouth and its voice fills the room, there are no movements of whatever passes as 'lips', its as if the words existed elsewhere and it simply calls them forth so it can communicate. You're still not completely used to it.

"No." It clenches itself further into its knees, it's hands gripping its calves tightly. "I can't..."

You set the food down next to you both and put your hand on its shoulder.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

Ash turns its head toward you, its unnerving white eyes piercing into yours.

"Do I exist?" It asks in a frigid whisper.

You pause.

"Yes." You state emphatically, "Of course you exist, what do you mean?"

"I used to not exist, but I knew I didn't exist, I understood what things were, what I was." Its claws dig into its legs tighter. "But now I know too much, and nothing. It hurts, it's empty. I'm lost without you." Its primordial voice echoes unnaturally through the room.

It removes its hands from its legs and moves closer to you, clutching your hands with its own.

"I can't imagine what life is like for you, sometimes I don't feel real either, like life is just a blur all around me and I'm numb. It's not quite what you've described but when I feel like this, stimulation can help." You squeeze its hands tighter. "No matter what, you can always come to me if you need anything. I'll go get us some fragrant tea."

You get up and leave the room to go retrieve what you need.

It sighs. It can't stand you leaving its side now that it has you finally.

It looks down at it's hands, they look wrong, everything feels slow, like it's underwater.

It wants so badly to be able to keep you safe, if it wasn't so weak, pathetic... It could have done more for you.

You help it so much, it wants to do more for you, to bury your enemies, whisk you away and keep you safe, to get you the happy. You deserve this thing, it would kill all in its way to get you this prized substance the Firde speak of.

It will get it for you.

Probably TMI but I felt encouraged to share my personal problem and fantasy here once again (thank you anon, thank you Giulia and thank you everyone else 😘🥰 I love it here and I’m sending a big hug to everyone who might need it ❤️‍🩹)

I’m on my period and as a guy it’s even worse, because I’m in my extra sad feels cause of hormones already and now my dysphoria is kicking in even worse 🙄

And since my cramps are so bad and no medication works I spent the whole day in bed and let my thoughts wander.

And somehow I ended up fantasising about Johnny for the whole day. Just him staying with me in bed, cuddling me and trying to soothe my cramps with placing his warm strong hands on my abdomen, while showering me with kisses and helping to shut out those dumb thoughts of being not good and not manly enough. Him serving me tea and some healthy snacks as well as some cake to satisfy my craving. Maybe he would even help me get rid of some of the pain (and horniness) with my favourite vibrator (cause it’s like the only thing that doesn’t hurt using during my period). He just sets it on a low frequency while I relax in his arms and let the sensation take over. Eventually I would fall asleep cuddled into his chest and I wake up to him holding me close and watching me sleep with a smile.

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

Not necessarily — but I feel like when I write fics, I’m usually trying to cure my own heartache (especially if writing for DGM, because woosh, canon hurts enough XD). There are definitely scenes that have broken my heart (Alma waking up at the end of The Chime of a Crystalline Flower and questioning if Kanda was real definitely broke me). I haven’t finished writing it, but I do think the ending of Songbirds in Winter is going to be a knife to the heart. There’s definitely going to be a tragic element to how things play out between many of the characters, so that might be the fic to do it. >.<

😅 What’s a story or scene you’ve created that you’re a smidge embarrassed exists?

Somehow I felt it in my bones this would be asked if anyone sent me anything. XD So, I do have some things I’m really embarrassed about but I actually haven’t posted them all to my AO3. >.> Some of my really kinky things I just haven’t mustered the courage to post, but maybe one day. :3 (Tbh, I have some ideas for fics with the sex pollen trope, but aaaa. I need to be braver. LOL.) HOWEVER, as I work on some scenes for Songbirds in Winter, some spicy bits have definitely made me blush. X3 In terms of what I have shared, the one thing that probably embarrassed me the most is making Alma a webcam model in my Lavi x Alma fic, A Chance Encounter. Otherwise, maybe some of my older fics because ayeeee, my grammar and sentence structure when I started writing was not it. XD

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

Sometimes! Depending on what I’m writing, I might listen to something on a loop or opt for silence, but generally if I listen to anything while writing, it’ll be instrumental/without lyrics. Since I’m working on Songbirds in Winter and it’s a Romeo and Juliet AU, I’ve been listening to Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet score. (Specifically, I’ve been listening to the Balcony Scene/Love Dance and Juliet’s Funeral/Death — the last 3 minutes of the latter piece probably encompass the mood of the story the most and where it’s heading, so it’s been something I’ve been returning to a lot lately.

🍷 Do you drink and write?

I did a few times in the past, but not so much anymore! Mostly because I haven’t been drinking wine much anymore lately. Every once in a while I might, but I tend to drink a lot of tea to help me focus. :3

Absolutely! The following is from (surprise) Songbirds in Winter for a chapter I’m currently working on. >.> A little spice to tickle your fancy. <3 ~~~ Breaths rapid. Body trembling. He was below him, eyes clouded and lips parted with flushed skin. “T—Tyki,” he pleaded, voice quivering with need. “Tyki, please, please—" The memory did not even play out in full, a shudder threatening to ripple through Tyki’s body. Still lying on his back, he ran his hands over his face. Did he need a smoke? He had snuck one before dinner, but felt a little on edge, need and want creeping into his veins like a poison slowly spreading. He just couldn’t stop thinking. He couldn’t stop thinking about Alma. He opened his eyes, Tyki sitting up. He felt unusually riled, his energy restless, the alpha standing as he walked over to a coat hanger in the corner of his room, his worn, older cloak that he normally used still hanging up. Without a second thought, Tyki snatched it, taking it back to the bed as he sat on the edge. Bringing the fabric to his face, he inhaled. The scent was mostly his own musk mixed with the remnants of nicotine, but faintly there was another scent — a little light, more floral. Alma’s scent. It was nowhere near enough, the residual scent minimal. A twinge of frustration brimmed within Tyki, a small part of himself wishing that Alma’s scent had lingered longer. He had noticed Alma’s scent before when their paths had crossed, but last night… Heat seeped low into his gut, Tyki’s pulse quickening. The restless energy inside him continued to fester, the alpha shifting his body on the bed. Still holding his cloak close, he inhaled once more, trying to savor what remained of Alma — flowers and sugared pomegranates, spring amongst winter.

Recently I went to a coffee shop and ate pancakes 🥞

Maple butter pancakes, when it comes to pancakes simple is best….!

I like the sound of maple. I don’t really go out that much but when I do I’m often by myself. If I find a really good shop I want to find someone to go with next time, but I need the courage to ask someone （#><#）There are a lot of people I want to invite.

I bought glasses recently. I thought since I lost a pair I would have to buy a new pair but right after I bought a new pair I found my old pair AHHHHHH….

Right now at home one of the glasses brothers is there. This is my daily report.

Since Serra-chan’s graduation ceremony finished, I still feel like the Serra-chan before the ceremony is still here in the dressing room.

I really like this outfit and when I think about the memories I have with Serra-chan I come to like it even more. The lace is really heavy but it’s a happy weight.

On the day of the live during rehearsals I felt really sad when I had to remove the headset that she helped adjust for me, letting go of her hand that she let me hold before the actual live was scary but the ceremony was absolutely amazing.

I’m so glad that I was able to be there.

Prologue

Greeting! Salam! Hello everyone around there!

Here's welcome to my tumblr blog!! Actually this is my second, third, fourth, fi—God! I forgot how much did I make blogs😫🤲🏻

Anyway! I will make lots of story of my life in this website, because I haven't truly believe to people for share my story with—Lol to say that I was the one who share my story to strangers all over the world here😂 but idk yet it's interesting to create stories without mentioning a real person in advance! Anddddd it was nice to share my story with Indonesia language unless I shoulda fix my grammar for increasing my capabilities for exchange or study abroad (soon to be, probably if I can, lol) so, perhaps mostly you will find how much I write my blog with English tho' sorry for any grammar mistakes as soon as possible, just notice me if I'm wrong. Any of complaining will welcome so don't worry if you've imagined that I was a person who doesn't want to be criticized, that wasn't look like this anyway HAHAHA!

Well, I forgot to tell you 'bout my personal information! Btw, you can call me “Bee(s)” with/out letter -s, because I used to call myself Bee instead of Bees, yet it sounds weird like nah(?) But everyone will make it simple as comfortable as they want, everything depends on you! In 2022, I'm still a sophomore at some Uni in Indonesia, just fyi! I'm still single rn, without lots of money and a boyfriend HAHA. I was born on February 17th, I think you shouldn't have know about the year lmao. My fav foods are seafood and vegetables, idk perhaps it's kinda weird because most people hate vegetables right? In Indonesia itself we have many variation of salad such as, gado-gado and karedok (I won't call it with English, because it was it is), and my fav part is karedok, SUPER!!!! The taste was freshyyyyy and I love it! For fruits, every fruits that have purple colour got me felt like, huaaa I love them sm! As long as I've imagined mangosteen and grapes were perfectly match to this tongue! I'm not a picky food except it isn't halal and forbidden in my religion but all of foods were nicely taste delicious at the end of the day so better you try every single food in this world! For beverages, I love tea soooo much! But now, I currently addicted to coffee because I was too stressed to fixed my tasks and coffee is the best boyfriend ever! What else? Hmm..

Ou!! I got 165cm height and 64kg it feels like I'm too fat or nah? Whatever haha! Because those amounts don't matter for a girl like me. I love swimming, reading, writing like this, singing, speaking, and staring at phone for couple times (not good anyway) and well that's it. If any of you want to asks me, just asks then! WIP Wednesday ✨💕

After 84 years I actually have the brain cells to post a mere WIP :’))

Tagged by @the-iron-orchid (thank you for always tagging me despite me being radio silent ssksoso) I started this in a haze a while ago and then started doing like 50 other things LMAO but I enjoyed the dynamic of Nadia and Donna I had going here so 🤲🏻 a nameless WIP about Nadia (rightfully) being sused out by a certain duke from back home 🤭

Nadia’s cheeks ignited; she tried to fix her face into a neutral expression, but it was clear that even she was embarrassed by the truth of it. Donna sighed, stroking along the tops of Nadia’s hands to soothe her. They led her back to their seats, keeping their fingers entwined.

“Has he said anything to you? Done anything? I can handle him, if need be,” Donna continued, their words already coming out much quicker than they had intended. Nadia shook her head, a small smile finally tugging at her lips. How dutiful they always were; it was charming and endearing all the same.

“No… No, not really. Nothing one could mark as outwardly aggressive.”

“That’s… actually surprising.” Donna took a sip from their tea again, mulling over what Nadia had said. When it was clear that she wanted further explanation from them, they continued. “Sam isn’t very… good at not being aggressive when he wants to. I’ve seen him throw a grown man out of our carriage once! And I don’t think he could tell you why if you asked him now. I doubt he even remembers.”

Nadia blinked, momentarily astonished. What were you doing with a man like that? She wanted to ask, though the irony of it all kept her lips shut. Donna laughed awkwardly, shrugging their shoulders; the question did not need to be uttered.

“I mean… He didn’t do that kind of stuff often. What I mean to say is, if Sam had an issue with you, he would have made it clear from the very start. He’s too old to play games like that anymore.”

Donna had deepened their tone, their voice an almost growl. Nadia couldn’t help but laugh at that; it was always a treat when they would mimic others. She paused to take a long sip of her own tea, her brow furrowing once again as she thought over this new information.

“But…?” Donna pressed; it was their turn now to press for elaboration.

“He hasn’t been outwardly cruel to me. Nor has he threatened me. But he is… strange, Donna, you must admit this. I catch him glaring at me, and I am seized by a notion that I have wronged him in some way, that he’s here with a purpose.”

What is his fav colour? - (Dark) green!

would he raise a baby deer if he ever finds one that is lost or their mother is killed? - Absolutely. He loves animals and I think he’d grow pretty attached to it (bonus point and extra angst what if he shot the mother because he didn’t see that she had a fawn so he raises the baby to kinda make up for it)

what would he name the deer? - probably Bonny (that means something along the lines of „pretty one“) or Fia

what would he wear on a festival/ball? - He’d definitely wear a fancy suit. Almost had a mental breakdown over trying to decide what kind of cut that suit would have and didn’t come up with anything but I do have a certain color/pattern in mind. He’d wear a black suit (maybe with either black or dark green vest?) and the suit jacket would have little dark green embroidery on the sleeves and the collar area that look like little branches (I had a ref pic but of course i lost it). Aiden is never really wearing much jewelry, but he’d insist on keeping on his crow pendant. In general Aiden looks really good in dark green and/or black suits I imagine (or black with dark red. Or black-gold, y’know, Talon’s house colors 👀👀).

He’d prefer simple designs that wouldn’t make him stick out too much, as if he wouldn’t look so good in any kind of suit that people just have to watch him 👀

are there nicknames he called his brother? - he calls him old man sometimes to mock him xD (in modern AU he calls him bro but idk if he does in canon cause not sure if it fits the time period ahaha)

did his brother have any nicknames for him? - haha yeah he called him little rabbit because he ran around like one when he was little and little brother of course (or you know, Brüderchen in German). Sometimes troublemaker xD

what is his most precious memory with his brother? - Oh he has many but what he treasures most is crawling into his brother’s bed after a nightmare and Henry reading him stories until they both fell back asleep. Also Henry carrying him back home on his back whenever Aiden was exhausted from playing in the woods.

what does he do nowadays when there is a storm? - trying to blend out the thunder by working in the house, humming his mother’s lullaby to calm his nerves

does he know how to ride a horse? - he does! His neighbors had a horse so him and Henry learned to ride there (yeah well Aiden does walk a lot but for very far ways he does indeed ride a horse sometimes 🙈)

his fav star constellation if he has one? - not to be predictable ahaha but it’s Sagittarius (y’know since he’s an archer haha) I’m still not over the fact that this is also Talon’s star sign

can he coordinate where to go by the stars? - yes he can! his father taught him how to do it

cat or dog person? - he likes both but I’d say he’s more of a cat person, since his family had a cat when he was little that he was pretty attached to
