Hi!! I know I already commented on your post but ah I’m so excited to see more from you!!! I have a request if you don’t mind, it’s more angst tho…sorry not sorry it’s us being trapped inside of casita as she’s (I think it’s a she?) crumbling and Camilo shouting our name after either picking himself off the ground or fighting his way back inside? I don’t know it’s up to you but the main part is he sees us trapped against one of the pillars, a dresser or some heavy furniture pinning us against it that we were struggling and failing to push away because the floorboards were all moving in those waves to get everyone outside and the house was so concerned between that and saving mirabel it didnt have enough strength to assist us too. I just want to see him get worried and frantic before helping us out, you know all intense and stuff. THIS IS SO LONG I APOLOGIZE BUT IVE HAD THIS STUCK IN MY HEAD AND AFTER READING YOUR FIC I NEW YOU WERE THE PERSON I NEEDED TO BRING IT TO LIFE
thank you so much for your request! you have no idea how happy your comments on my other story made me!! that was the first time i wrote something so your support means so so much :’) hope you like it <3
i’ve got you
camilo madrigal x gen!reader
word count: 2k
request? yes!
warning(s): angst again!! happy ending tho, reader gets trapped so maybe claustrophobia, mild swearing, makeout? (not rly), angry mirabel and abuela >:(, not beta-d we die like casita
summary: you and camilo happened to return to casita at the worst possible moment and while trying to save mirabel, you get trapped under casita’s ruins.
Tumblr media
You and Camilo had just finished drying yourselves off with your towels after a quick swim out in the river. You had spent the whole day with your beloved boyfriend and were ready to call it a day, especially when the sun had now slowly set below the tall Encanto mountains.
But before you could end your day, you had to end it properly and that meant stealing some of Julieta’s food along with your boyfriend. And that’s exactly what you did.
You two were cracking jokes and laughing all the way to Casita when you heard yells coming from the matriarch of the family. You immediately knew that this meant bad news as you had never seen Abuela yell like that to someone in your entire lifespan. Camilo knew it too by the way he softly, yet firmly held your wrist, slightly pulling you behind him as the two of you cautiously walked into the main clearing of Casita.
Your heart broke at the sight of your good friend Mirabel Madrigal getting relentlessly blamed and yelled at for all the misfortunes that were happening to the familia Madrigal in the last few days. You turned to see who was around, and made eye contact with a colourful, bright - yet guilty looking Isabela standing off to the side.
What you heard next completely shocked both you, Camilo and the entire Madrigal family on the sidelines.
“You’re the one that doesn’t care!” Mirabel shouted at her abuela with tears brimming her eyes. You gasped and felt Camilo’s grasp on your wrist tighten. Abuela looked even more furious than from the beginning of the whole argument as she took a closer step towards Mirabel.
“You’re the one breaking our home!”
“Don’t you ever..-!”
“The miracle is dying, because of you!”
And that’s when you all heard it. The terrifying rumble of Casita’s cracks all across the walls and foundation pillars. The rumble was so loud and so forceful that the windowsill that was displaying the miracle candle collapsed and the candle fell backwards, rolling on the broken wood.
Everyone felt the pure panic coursing their veins as the candle was merely rolling, about to fall. The panic induced silence was broken when Félix shouted, “The candle!” with a small gasp.
As soon as Félix had said that, everyone’s legs started to automatically move towards the source of miracle, trying desperately to save what has been already hurt. Your legs, however, were planted on the ground next to your - now long gone - boyfriend Camilo.
“Casita! Get me up there!” you heard Mirabel yell as she ran towards the makeshift ladders that Casita gave her. You had only just rendered the severity of the situation and how it could play out for Mirabel if anything had happened to her and that’s what finally triggered your legs to move.
“Mirabel!” you yelled at the top of your lungs, running towards the girl who was trying to save the essence of the Madrigal family.
“Mirabel! Please! Get down!” You were almost at the makeshift ladder when Casita’s ceiling pieces had started falling on the ground right where you were. You quickly pushed yourself against a wall with a large plate and cup storing furniture piece, your back tightly against it as you panted heavily from all the running you had done.
You saw Isabela’s vine giving out and her falling on the ground a few feet away from you. You also saw Camilo falling right next to Isabela a few seconds later as his gift too, gave out.
You were too distracted by the two Madrigals to notice how Casita’s rolling of the floors brought a giant piece of wall directly on you with a loud smack. You fell down against the large furniture piece as the wall was now laying on top of you, giving you practically no room to move.
After a while you stopped hearing yelling and you stopped hearing the house breaking. You didn’t have the strength to try to lift the wall off of you nor did you have the strength to open your mouth and ask for help. You just lay there, hoping for someone to realise that you were gone and help you out.
Camilo looks around and sees the state in which Casita was or what remained of Casita anyways. He saw his family all huddled close together whispering words of encouragement to each other and lightly smiled. Even during these difficult times his family still found a way to reassure each other and always be there for each other.
He reached to his left side to grab your hand and lead you to where everyone else was but he realised you weren’t by his side. He also slowly realised that Mirabel wasn’t there either, by the way his tía, tío and everyone else were frantically searching for her.
He felt his heart beating in his chest erratically, his palms grew sweaty and shaky and his legs felt impossibly light, ready to give up on him at any moment. Camilo was terrified. Because he not only lost his beloved prima, but he also lost the love of his life, his vida.
He ran towards his immediate family, grabbed his mother by her shoulders and started yelling at her, tears pricking his eyes from fear.
“Mamá where is Y/N? Where are they?!” Pepa’s eyes grew wide and with a quick scan of the area as she too, as well as the rest of his family, realised that you were also gone.
“Y/N!” Camilo had started screaming your name as he ran around the whole perimeter of the area. He screamed and screamed until he felt his throat go dry from the combination of dust and yelling. The others too were calling your name and Mirabel’s as they were trying to locate you.
Dolores came to sit next to the now hunched and sobbing figure of her little brother, rubbing circles on his back to soothe him. Camilo shrugged her off with force, standing up to walk away from her. She quickly grabbed his forearm and pulled him to face her.
“Dolores stop!” Camilo snapped as he pulled his forearm away from her. He looked up at her, his face covered in dust and tears. “This isn’t doing anything to help! I don’t know where Y/N or Mirabel are and I don’t know what to do! What if something happened to them? What if something happened to Y/N? I was too concerned with the candle to protect Y/N and now look! They are nowhere to be found! My one job as their boyfriend was to protect them and I couldn’t fucking do it! I am a horrible fucking boyfriend! If they’re hurt or dead it’s all my fault..” Camilo broke down once again, violent sobs leaving his body as he kneeled down on the ground, hoisting himself up with elbows as he buried his hands in his - now dusty and grey - hair.
Dolores could only look at him in pity as she kneeled in front of him once more, pulling him into her embrace. Camilo didn’t move away from her this time, he only buried himself deeper into his hermana’s warm and welcoming arms.
“Manito we will find them. Both of them. I promise you we will find them. We already sent a rescue team to find Mira, we will find Y/N too.” Dolores let out softly.
“Can’t you try to hear them?” Camilo mumbled in her arms.
Dolores sighed and tried to extend her ear as she always does, trying to locate any sound - anything really - that she could identify as you. But nothing.
“No.” she had said for the first time, “I can’t hear them. I’m sorry manito.”
That was until they heard some rustling going on behind them. Luisa turned to look at Dolores who had the same curious look as she did. Dolores left her brother to calm down as she and her prima cautiously walked up to the furniture with their expensive silverware they used for Mariano’s dinner.
They heard the rustling again. Then they heard faint “help”s. Then they grew louder. Dolores immediately recognized your voice and rushed with Luisa to the wall. They hurriedly lifted the wall just enough for you to crawl out of the cramped space and let it go, once again hitting the dresser with a loud bam.
You started coughing the dust that had accumulated in your throat, too busy to realise Luisa’s “there you are!” and “are you ok?”s.
You looked around and saw Camilo and Dolores just a few feet across from you.
It was as if Camilo could feel your stare because he swiftly turned around and made eye contact with you (after Dolores had told him that they found you of course). He ran up to you and engulfed you in a hug, his arms wrapping tightly and protectively around your dusty and exhausted frame.
“Mi vida! I’m so glad you’re okay! Dios mio you have no idea how scared I was.. what would I have done if I lost you?”
“Cami,” you pulled away to look at him, noticing how red his eyes were from crying and his teared stained dusty cheeks, “I’m fine. You don’t have to worry about me anymore I’m here with you ok? I’m here..” you cupped his face and smiled.
“Y/N I should have been here to protect you! I’m a horrible boyfriend I promised to help you and I didn’t, I’m sorry. I don’t deserve you..” Camilo shifted his eyes to the ground.
“You did what you had to do to save the candle. You’re one of the bravest people I know, Camilo Madrigal. You’ve helped me and protected me all throughout our relationship and I couldn’t be more grateful. You are an amazing boyfriend Cami and you’re an amazing person.”
You contemplated about dropping the big phrase. Should you do it? Isn’t it too early? What if you scare him away or what if he doesn’t feel the same way? You had to, though. After what you went through today you knew that you had to tell him.
“Camilo I love you.”
He lifted his eyes to meet yours in complete shock. His mouth grew wide open as he stared at your eyes, trying to process if what you told him was real or just his imagination. When he realised this was reality, he closed his mouth, stretched his hands to now cup your face and pulled you into a kiss.
You guys had kissed before sure, but never like this. This kiss was pure emotion. Pure desperation, pure love and pure passion. This kiss held all of the emotions that the two of you held from today’s events and from the days leading up to this. You were both irrevocably and unconditionally in love with each other and that translated through this kiss.
He lightly nibbled down on your lower lip, making you open your mouth more. He wasted no time in entering his tongue, exploring your mouth and your own tongue as you fought for dominance. His hands moved from your face to gripping your hips tightly as he pulled you on to his lap and chest to chest with him. Your hands moved from cupping his face to tangling your fingers in his dusty curls and tugging on them every few seconds, earning low groans from him.
His mouth left yours as he started planting open mouth sloppy kisses starting from your temple all the way down to your neck and the base of your collarbones. You giggled at his touch, leaning your head to the side for more exposure.
With a smile, he pulled back and connected his forehead with your own.
“I love you so much, mi amor. So so so much.” With that he pulled you in for another heated kiss.
Amongst the ruins of the Casita, you two had found some closure and despite the circumstances, the two of you couldn’t be happier.

This was not a request but it was something just running through my head.
I've got you sequel: Camilo x GN!Reader
This is a sequel to a fic written by @solcamilo. Part one is right here. I have asked them for permission to write this and they said yes so here I am.
DNI IF YOU ARE 18+. CAMILO IS A MINOR!
Warnings: Angsty, mentions of injury, nightmares, sad Camilo, frustrated reader, sad mom, sad Pepa
Genre: angst with a touch of fluff and a bit more angst
Summary: After getting trapped under part of Casitas wall, you and Camilo learn about some lasting consequences that can't be healed with just an arepa anymore....
Abbreviations: Y/N: your name, f/c: favorite color, M/N: mothers name, L/N: last name
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You broke away from your boyfriend and dread filled your eyes as you realized something.
"Cami" You said slowly
"What is it, mi vida?" Camilo asked, worried. "What's wrong?"
"I can't feel my legs."
"What?! What do you mean?"
"My legs, they're numb. I can't feel them anymore. "
"Ok stay right there. I'll be right back with one of my Tias arepas. Don't go anywhere!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Camilo came running back to you, arepa in hand.
"Mi vida, I have one!"
"Thanks for getting one, mi amor"
"You're lucky. This was one of the last ones."
"Thanks Cami"
Camilo handed you the arepa.
"Ok. Here goes nothing." Hope filled your voice as you thought about leaping into Camilo's arms as soon as you were healed.
You sunk your teeth into the arepa, but nothing happened. You tried taking another bite, but still nothing. Tears start to fill your eyes as you eat the rest of it, trying to rub some feeling back into your legs, and yet nothing worked. Your brain tried to send signals to your legs to move, but they wouldn't respond.
"Cami, why won't it work?" You said looking up at him, tears streaming down your face.
A horrible realization struck Camilo in that moment.
"The candle went out. The magic is gone." He said sadly. He tried to shapeshift to disprove his point, but it didn't work.
You looked down at your legs sadly. You would never be able to walk, dance, run or do anything else with Camilo again.
"So that's it, then? I never walk again? I never do anything again?" You say getting mad at yourself. If you hadn't tried to help Mirabel and Camilo, none of this would have happened to you. If you had actually done something to help them, maybe it would have been worth it a little bit, but instead you just got hurt and made it worse.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Camilo decide that it would be best to get you back to your home so that you can rest and Camilo can tell your family about what happened. But you were not ready to accept this quite yet, and you were trying to get up. Much to your frustration, it didn't work.
"Come on, mi vida. It'll be fun." Camilo said trying get you to let him carry you.
"Fine. No piggyback rides though. I feel like my legs would just slip through your arms."
"Of course, mi amor" Camilo said, opting to carry you bridal style.
You immediately started to fall asleep in his arms, not realizing what a toll this had taken on your body. He felt your head snuggle into his shoulder and he smiled down sadly at you, heading over to his Mami to explain what happened.
"Dios mio, Camilo! What happened?" Pepa exclaimed.
"Hush Mami, they're sleeping." Camilo said softly. "They got trapped under a piece of wall that fell down while they were trying to help me and Mirabel. I think they're legs might be paralyzed now."
"Oh no! My poor child." Pepa said sadly. "Get them home quick so that they can get some rest. Heaven knows they need it after today." Pepa gently pushed Camilo towards the direction of your house, not wanting to wake you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I'm so sorry, mi vida. This isn't the way I wanted today to go. I'm such a horrible boyfriend. I should've stayed with you instead of running after Mirabel. That way none of this would have happened. " Camilo said quietly, trying hard not to wake you. You looked peaceful in his arms and Camilo started to sob. "I had so many plans for us. So many wonderful plans. What are we going to do..." Camilo was crying harder now, his hot tears hitting your face as you woke up.
"Hey, mi camaleón." You said softly, caressing his cheek as he leaned his face into your touch. "You don't need to worry about me. I'm a strong person. We'll get through this and we'll do it together."
"How can I not worry about you? You're mi vida and I don't know what would happen to me if I lost you."
"You still would be Camilo Madrigal, the most amazing of the Madrigal's, with or without your gift." You said trying to comfort him. "You would still be mi camaleón whether I was here or not, ok? I'm not planning on leaving you anytime soon though, so we don't need to worry about it, alright?"
"Ok, mi vida. Alright." Camilo sighed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time you had gotten to your house, you had fallen asleep again, your head nestled into his ruana. He slowly walked into your house, trying not to step on anything. He then quietly calmed down your mother when she saw your unconscious body, and took you upstairs to your room. He laid you down onto your bed and let you sleep while he explained what happened to your mom.
"We were going back to la Casita to get some arepas after our date." Camilo starts "When we came in, mi Abuela and Mirabel were arguing and la Casita was starting to fall apart. The candle got knocked over, so Mirabel ran to go save it. I ran after her, not wanting her to get hurt, but in doing so, I accidentally left Y/N behind me." Camilo sounds regretful as he keeps talking. "Y/N saw me run over there and went to go help, but ended up against the wall. The Casita was starting to really break and the floors were rolling, trying to get everyone out, but before it could get Y/N out, the wall collapsed on them." Your mom gasped, shocked at what this boy in front of her was saying. "After all the dust settled, we found them and got the wall off of them, but not before lasting damage had been done." Camilo readied himself for what he was about to say. "Sra. L/N, there is no easy way to say this, but your child is paralyzed from the legs down." Camilo said rubbing his fingers over his eyes as he starts to cry. He starts to leave when your mom stops him.
"Thank you for them back home, Camilo. I know you love them a lot and this is hard for you, but we will work through this together, ok? All of us." Your mother said reassuringly.
"You sound just like them when you say that. They are always so optimistic. I see where they get it from." Camilo says, leaving to go back to the ruins of casita.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Almost as soon as Camilo placed you down on the bed is when the nightmares started. You were pinned under the wall again, but this time no one found you. Luisa never lifted up the wall that had trapped you there, and no one ever heard your whispers for help, not even Camilo. You silently sobbed as you slept, wanting Camilo to come back and save you from the never ending nightmare.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, the all of the townspeople left in search of Mirabel, except for your mom who had stayed to take care of you. Last night after Camilo left, she had gone to the carpenter to see if there was wheelchair for you to use so that you weren't just cooped up in your room. Camilo had wanted to stay and help your mom comfort, but he knew that she would be fine without him. You however would not be fine without him. He didn't anticipate the nightmares. You woke up with a start from your nightmare, trying to see if Camilo was still there. You called out for him, but there was no answer. Your mom came rushing into your room when she heard your cries, trying to comfort you.
"Mom, my legs-" You started before your mother stopped you
"Hush, child. I know. Camilo told me about everything. We will get through this together."
"But how will I do anything? I can't even do one of the most basic things. How could I do more elaborate things?" All of your optimism from yesterday was gone.
"I'm going to go pick up a wheelchair from the carpenter. That way you could still get around and still be with Camilo." Your mother explained. "He's a nice boy, Y/N. Make sure you hold on and never let go."
Your mother left to get you some food. You sat on your bed thinking, wanting to pull your legs up to rest on your head on your knees, but you couldn't. Your mother came back with a small plate of arepas and some hot chocolate.
"Eat some food, mi amor. It'll help you feel better. It may not heal like Julieta's food used to, but you still need it."
"Thanks, Mami."
You ate your breakfast while your mother left to pick up a wheelchair.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After Mirabel had come back and people started to work on repairing the Casita, Camilo went to go and visit you. He had gotten there right as your mother was finishing up the chair.
"Oh, Camilo! Great timing. I just finished up the wheelchair." Your mother said, clothes covered in (f/c) paint. I picked one up from the local carpenter.I didn't want it to just be plain wood though, so I painted it."
"I'm sure they'll love it." Camilo responds happily
"Would you go up and carry them down here, please. The paint is all dry and I want them to see it and try it out."
"Of course, M/N!"
Camilo walked up to your room and knocked on your door.
"Mami? Is that you? Did you finish already?" You called out when you heard the knocks.
Camilo slowly opened your door and your face immediately brightened when you saw him.
"Cami!"
"Hey, mi vida."
"Did you guys find Mirabel? Is she alright?"
"Yes, she's fine. Right now I'm more worried about you though. How are you doing?"
Your smile faltered a bit as you answered.
"I've been better. I'll be much better once my mom finishes up the wheelchair so that I can get around."
"About that. Thats why I am here. Your mom finished. She wanted me to carry you down to try it."
"Really!? That fast?" You were surprised as this had all happened last night.
"Yeah. Your mom didn't want to waste any time painting it so that you weren't just cooped up in your room." Camilo said, picking you up to take you down the stairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your mother saw you in Camilo's arms, and smiled softly to herself.
"There you are, Y/N. How are you feeling?" There was a hint of sadness in her voice as she talked. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, great actually. I mean besides my legs I feel fantastic." You sound genuine as Camilo placed you in the chair.
You turned the wheels with your hands, moving forward across the room. Your mom and Camilo giggled as they saw you turn around and come back towards them.
"It's perfect, Mami!"
"I'm so glad you like it, mi amor." Your mother was so excited to see you happy even after all this had happened.
"Come on, mi vida! Let's go back to la Casita and show Mirabel that you're alright!" Camilo was excited to show his prima that everyone was alright.
Everything was going to be alright for you two.
happy birthday mi vida!
camilo x gen!reader
word count: 1.2k
request? nope
warning(s): tooth rotting fluff, some angst, not beta-d we die like abuelo
summary: it's your birthday and the madrigals have something planned up their sleeve.
a/n: decided to write this really quickly cause it's my birthday today and i wanted to give you guys something cute too as a treat! to those of you have requested a fic please be patient i'm writing them all!
Tumblr media
"You seriously don't remember what today is?" you asked Dolores as the two of you were helping carry some crates around the town.
"It's a normal Thursday from what I remember" she let out quietly, looking around rather suspiciously as you made your way to the town square. If you hadn't been too absorbed in your own thoughts you would've heard the little squeak she let out and the slight bulging of her eyes.
With a sigh, you dropped the crate down next to a fruit stand and wiped your hands on your clothes. You looked over to Dolores once again as she tried avoiding eye contact with you, looking everywhere else but your direction.
With another heavy sigh you walked towards the bridge where you were needed next, a deep frown and furrowed eyebrows adorning your face.
Today was your birthday and literally no one had remembered. Not even your own parents which really unusual as they would have been the first people to celebrate it with you. You had asked everyone in your family about it and got the same answer of, "What are you talking about?". Luisa was the first Madrigal you had encountered today and she, too, said nothing to you about your birthday. Maybe out of your frustration, however, you had missed how her right eye twitched nervously right after. Mirabel was the second Madrigal you had encountered and the one that shocked you the most. Mira was known to be caring and compassionate so it really surprised you that she too forgot it was your birthday.
Now Dolores had forgotten too and you had gotten sadder and sadder as the day went by. You only had one hope left, and that was your boyfriend Camilo. There was no way he would have forgotten his s/o's birthday. Right?
"Mi vida what are you talking about? Today is nothing special, just a boring old Thursday. Unless we have a celebration or a festival I don't know about!" he said to you in the form of a townswoman, cradling the real townswoman's baby.
"Are you serious Camilo? You really don't remember?!"
"Remember what?" Camilo shifted back into himself accidently from how nervous he felt. He couldn't ruin it now, not when the whole family had tried so hard throughout the day to keep it a secret.
"You know what whatever I'm not in the mood to see your face now" you stomped off back towards your house with tears pricking your eyes. Camilo had forgot your birthday. You couldn't believe it. Were you that insignificant to everyone?
As you were walking away, you had missed how Camilo's faced grew into a sad frown, shifting from himself to Abuela, Mirabel, Dolores and back into the townswoman.
The day was slowly ending as the sun was now slowly lowering itself, creating an orange and pink hue on the sky. You were curled up in your bed, face down on your pillow as you wanted this horrible day to end already.
You heard a knock on your front door, but you didn't have the motivation to go down and open the door. Your parents weren't home yet and you were all alone in the house. After a few seconds, you heard the knocking intensify.
With a loud groan you knocked the bedding off of you and grumpily made your way downstairs towards the door. The scowl on your face quickly turned into a small smile at the sight in front of you.
Little Antonio was standing there with a parrot on his right shoulder and small present box in his hands. He looked up at you with bright eyes and a wide smile as he said, "Happy birthday Y/N! Here's your present from me!" He extended his arms up towards you as far as he could reach and gestured for you to take the present.
You teared up as you kneeled down in front of the boy and hugged him tightly. "Thank you my little Tonito! Thank you!" He laughed and hugged you back as tight as you had, the parrot eventually joining in too.
You took the present and placed it inside on the sofa as you gestured Antonio to come in to the house, but he shook his head.
"Follow me!" he grabbed your hand and started to drag you through the town towards Casita.
When the two of you had reached the - suspiciously - dark Casita, he whistled and two parrots blindfolded you making you let out a yelp of surprise.
"Come come come!" he shouted enthusiastically and motioned for you to follow after him in the Casita, which obviously you couldn't see. The enthusiasm alone was enough for you to follow him.
With small hesitant shuffles you made it passed the entrance and into the clearing. The room was dead silent as the only you could hear was your own - now nervous - breathing. You reached out your arms around you, trying to scan the area for anything that could give you a clue as to what was happening, but found nothing.
"Antonio what's going on?" you said a little impatiently as there was zero movement happening around you. With a quick motion of your hand, you ripped the blindfold off and looked around the dark room. The only thing that you could make out was the outline of the room, some freshly adorned vines and flowers placed on the pillars and a large paper that hung at the very end of the room.
"Tonito?-" you had started but was cut off by the lights suddenly opening. You squinted at the harsh light and made to cover your face when you felt something hug your legs.
You opened your eyes and saw the whole Madrigal family as well as your own parents wearing party hats and blowing confetti at you.
"Surprise!" they all yelled in synchronization and you were left gobsmacked. Quite literally. You hadn't expected this at all. There was that big paper that you saw before, but now it had the phrase "Happy Birthday Y/N!" written on it.
Abuela moved to hug you first as she wished you a very happy and joyful birthday. Everyone proceeded to do the same and now you were only left with Camilo.
"I'm sorry I didn't wish you earlier amor, I just wanted to keep the surprise a secret" he smiled sheepishly, lightly scratching the back of his neck as he avoided eye contact.
"In the beginning you did really upset me Milo. But I guess you're forgiven now." You said playfully as you went to hug him. He hugged you back tightly and lightly kissed your cheek.
"Whose idea was this?" you asked as you made your way to the rest of the family members.
"It was actually Camilo's idea! He came up with the whole 'we will ignore Y/N and make them believe that we don't remember about their birthday so they'll feel sad and then plan a surprise party for them so they can be happy'." Mirabel said, gesturing with her hands as she explained what had happened.
You laughed and went to hug Camilo again, pulling away shortly after and kissing him ever so gently.
"Happy birthday again mi amor." he whispered as he leaned in to plant another gentle kiss on your lips.
When you thought that today would have been the worst birthday of your life, it turned out to be one of the best you've ever had! All because of la familia Madrigal and your wonderful boyfriend Camilo.
camilo madrigal x fem!reader
word count: 1.9k
warning(s): ANGST!!, fluff ending, disorientation, crying, dolores has a family, HEAVY spoilers for infinity war and endgame, sad/happy ending don't rly know, not beta-d we die like half of the madrigal family
summary: after 5 years the lost members of the madrigal family return and find themselves in an unprecedented situation.
Tumblr media
The small town of Encanto had moved on from the traumatic events of five years ago. When the half of its population vanished in thin air, leaving nothing but sorrow and despair behind them. Although the residents lead a somewhat normal life after the tragic disappearances, the blip was still very much fresh in their minds.
To honor the victims, Alma Madrigal announced that the day of the blip would be a day of commemoration for all of them. She instructed the builders of the town - what remained of them - to build a monument with the names of everyone who had theoretically "lost their lives" on that fateful day.
On one particularly clear night, where no clouds would dare hide the beauty of the moon accompanied by her dear stars, is when Encanto would face their third miracle.
The sky had become obstructed all too suddenly by dust particles floating in the air, seemingly coming out of virtually no where. As the dust clouds moved and danced in the air, the majority of them took their landing in the town square, right in front of where the memorial now stood in place.
The dust started morphing and twisting into faint silhouettes of people crouching, standing, running. As more dust came flying in the silhouettes became clearer and clearer, taking in the final form of what they once used to be. The missing residents of Encanto.
In the blink of an eye it was as if Encanto had time traveled five years before. All of the residents that had been directly affected by the blip were finding themselves in the last place they were when it had all went down.
Camilo found himself in the exact same position he was the moment that he got blipped, smiling sadly to his family. Although now he was smiling to nobody in particular, only the empty view of the town square in front of him.
His smile dropped when he saw his mother look at him with the same look on her face before she had also disappeared. The both of them shook their heads left and right trying to process just what was happening to them.
Then, he felt sudden pressure on the crook of his neck. He looked down and the sight in front of him left him completely in shock.
You were resting your head on him with a small smile, just like you had done before you had quite literally disintegrated into nothingness. Camilo's eyes welled with tears, his lower lip quivering with emotion, his chin filling with small wrinkles as the muscles of his mouth morphed into a deep frown.
"Y/N?" he let out in a small whisper, eyes never leaving you. He was scared, scared that if he dared speak any louder that you would crumble in his arms once again.
Your head throbbed. You felt out of place. Very out of place. All of your memories came rushing back to you in a matter of seconds, ultimately worsening your headache. The sensation of crumbling vanished and was replaced by the odd sensation of your body rebuilding itself. You felt the presence of your fingers, slowly looking down at them to make sure that your brain wasn't playing any tricks on you. You slowly lifted your hand up to examine it, moving your fingers, touching them, making sure they were there.
You and Camilo made eye contact, your noses barely touching as the both of you let exasperated breaths and tears run down both of your faces. Adrenaline pumped through both of your bodies and almost as if time had completely slowed down you both made leaned in - chest to chest - just feeling each other. Feeling the mere physical essence that you couldn't feel, not in the blip, not in five years.
"Camilo.." you let out as just a breath, your voice chords giving out as soon as you had opened your mouth. You clutched him into your arms as you felt yourself rake from sobbing. In reality, both of your bodies had been violently shaking from the amount of tears and sheer emotion oozing out of your bodies.
And the two of you lay there all night, tightly holding each other, confused, tired and absolutely terrified.
The sun peaked out of the mountains, but you and Camilo had already been walking through the town. It hadn't changed from since the two of you had.. Camilo couldn't even bring himself to think about it.
The only small changes that you had noticed were some scarce newly builded houses, new small shops set up in the town square but most importantly, the memorial for all of those who had been like him and you. He couldn't bring himself to even look at it, scared at his reaction if he read the names of those he cared for the most.
At around noon, the both of you decided that it was time to make yourselves to the Casita. It was about time to re-introduce yourselves to the now older Madrigal family. The two of you met up with Mirabel, Agustín, Pepa and Bruno on your way and now all of you were collectively standing in front of the huge front doors that you all once had helped build.
With a knock from Mirabel, all of you made yourselves inside the Casita and the sight was truly heart wrenching for all of you.
Due to Mirabel's absence Casita as a whole had lost its shine, the magic glowing faintly as if it had never even been repaired in the first place. Due to Agustín's absence the house wasn't donned with beautiful colorful flowers as it once had been. Due to Bruno's and Pepa's absences the remaining Madrigal triplet's designated area was left in absolute disregard, dirty plates and pots stacked up in the sink, food scattered about in mania. Due to Camilo's absence Antonio's and Dolores' laughters were a rare event in the Casita Madrigal. Due to all of your absences, the sight of a mere few magical doors were shining with instability. The rest of the doors completely devoid of any color or that familiar golden shine of the gift.
"Mamá?" you heard a small little voice call out, running back to find a certain someone.
Dolores came out to retrieve her daughter, only to be met with the sight of the six of you staring back at her with the same confusion and shock as she had. Of course, she had heard you all the moment you had re-appeared in Encanto, but she thought it was one of her delusions again. She would have never thought the voices she had heard in the middle of the night were the truth and not made up from her still grieving brain.
A small little girl - no older than 3 - was clinging on to Dolores' leg, her tan little hands gripping her mother's red skirt and her curly ginger bangs falling in front of her hazel eyes.
After making you all sit down along with the rest of the family at the dining table (followed by reunions of lovers, parents and children and siblings), Abuela had found it the perfect time to inform you about what you had all missed.
"Dolores and Mariano got married shortly after you had disappeared. We were scared that something similar would happen again and we couldn't risk something like this destroying our family once more.." she let out in a heaving sigh, eyes trailing the wood patterns of the dining table. She couldn't dare bring her eyes to meet those who hadn't been here to look at her for the past five years, afraid that she might collapse at the overwhelming feeling of sadness.
"And I have my daughter, my little Pepa." Dolores motioned to the 3 year old sitting next to her. "Pepi, say hi to your family!" Dolores' mother started sobbing at the sentiment, the all too well thundercloud accumulating on top of her head. A thundercloud the remaining Madrigal family had dearly missed, especially her husband Félix who immediately rushed to clear it with tears in his eyes. He reminisced at the amount of times he had to calm her down and was truly overjoyed that he was able to do it once more.
"Mamá how are they family? I don't know them!" 3 year old Pepa let out shyly as she hid behind her - now slightly annoyed - mother.
"Pepina amor this is your grandmother, Abuela Pepa" Félix motioned to his weeping wife next to him. Pepa let out a teary grin to her granddaughter, opening her arms to welcome her for a hug.
The little girl was hesitant, taking small slow steps towards the woman. She let her guard down slightly when a snowflake landed on her nose, causing her to giggle. She had never seen snow in her lifetime and the woman that was allegedly her grandmother had just caused it. Pepa Jr being excited about it was an understatement.
She hesitantly wrapped her small arms around the snow causing woman and lay there in her arms, letting Pepa caress her with the occasional squeezing of her tiny shoulders.
Camilo couldn't handle the scene and walked yourself out, trying to catch some air. His throat had run dry and coarse from the bottled up emotions he was feeling, finally freeing them as he sat down outside of the house.
He felt as if all of this had been a dream. A nightmare. A horrible horrible nightmare. A nightmare that he wanted to desperately get away from. A nightmare turned dream as he realised that returning back to you, to your arms, was maybe just enough to turn this whole messed up ordeal into something sweet. Something maybe worth it.
Not long after he felt a presence sit down next to him. He didn't even have to look over to know its you. You leaned your head onto his shoulder as he let out five years worth of feelings. After feeling a small break of calm, he allowed himself to look at you.
"I owe you five years of my love querida." he croaked out in a sore voice.
"You don't owe me anything mi vida. Anything at all." you smiled, just like you had when he thought he had lost you forever. You lifted a hand up to caress his cheek, looking into the muddy green eyes that you had learned to love.
He leaned down while cupping your chin, gently lifting your face up. Your lips molded in a gentle kiss. A gentle, yet full of passion kiss. A kiss full of emotions that you had left unwillingly unsaid for five whole years.
Camilo felt safe in your arms, in your warm and loving embrace. You had helped him through a lot and you were going to help him through even more hardships. He realised that although tragic, the blip was needed. It was needed to bring the two of you even closer and he became grateful for that aspect of it.
He gripped your hand with a small smile, turning his head to look back towards the town of Encanto. You smiled in return and leaned your head against his shoulder once more.
You didn't need to say anything to comfort him, your presence alone was enough to reassure Camilo that he was going to be okay. You were going to be okay. His family was going to be okay. Encanto was going to be okay.
Everything was going to be okay.
to infinity
part 2
camilo madrigal x fem!reader
word count: 1.2k
warning(s): ANGST!!! open ending, HEAVY spoilers for infinity war, just a lot of angst so be prepared for that, not beta-d we die like casita
summary: it was another normal day in encanto, until camilo’s loved ones started disappearing right before his eyes.
Tumblr media
It was a bright sunny morning in the small little town of Encanto, and Camilo couldn’t have it any other way. He woke up early, got dressed, rushed down to the kitchen to steal some of his tía’s favorite arepas before breakfast even had begun and prepared the dining table along with his cousins.
Soon after his breakfast (and a few bites more), he rushed out of his beloved Casita and immediately found himself in the town square, shapeshifting into whoever needed his help that day.
The day went by fast and before Camilo even realised it, it was already close to the evening. Him and his girlfriend, Y/N, went by the river after a smooth day of chores. Almost too smooth for Camilo’s liking. Although, he wouldn’t complain about that out loud, he was thankful to do his chores without becoming fatigued afterwards.
And apparently, he wasn’t the only one to catch on the weird vibe of the day.
“Mi sol? Was today too easy going or is it just me?” you had asked him, quietly next to the bank of the river, matching your voice with the soft rustling of the water in front of the both of you.
“No, it’s not just you” He turned to look at you with a confused look on his face and continued, “I didn’t think you’d catch on to it if I’m gonna be honest querida.”
You let out a small smile at the pet name your boyfriend had called you and turned to look at him. With a small sigh you spoke, “I don’t know if I should be feeling this way but, I don’t know it just seems very weird. I’m not trying to complain or anything! Today was the smoothest day I’ve lived so far in Encanto but I feel like it shouldn’t be this easy.”
“I totally get you. I feel the same way. But I’m glad today was more relaxed than others because I get to spend more time with you mi vida” he leaned into you more and more as you felt yourself getting pushed to the ground by his body weight. You both started laughing and huddled up closer to each other.
But even though the two of you were laughing, deep down you were panicking. For reasons unknown your bodies were going into flight or fight mode and Camilo was truly panicked. He tried hard to feel at peace, but could not no matter how hard he had tried.
The both of you couldn’t help the bad feeling growing larger and larger within your guts, almost yelling at you two danger.
The sun was nearly setting by the time you had reached Casita and made yourselves to the dining room. Everyone was eerily quiet and it unnerved the both of you like hell. But alas, tía Julieta was there to disperse the heavy atmosphere by serving the ready made - and might you say - delicious food she made.
Everyone made their way to the table, Camilo finding a seat between you and his Tío Bruno and dived right into his plate.
Everyone was done with their food as the full moon shined above their heads and were making comfortable small conversation with each other, and he was huddled up once again beside you on the large couch. The atmosphere had lightened and he finally felt like he could truly relax.
That was short lived, however, when he heard screams erupting from the town below his Casita. The Madrigals and you quickly rushed out to the town square and the sight that you all witnessed was absolutely horrific.
Half of the townspeople were literally turning into dust. Camilo saw how a mother desperately tried to catch her daughter’s dusty remains as they were carried away by the chilly night breeze.
He turned to look at his own family when his stomach had completely dropped.
He saw his own mother looking at him horrified with wide eyes as her own fingers started disintegrating into dust. He watched as his father was screaming his mother’s name in horror, latching on to her bright yellow dress. He watched as his mother flew past the tall - now split - Encanto mountains as just a cloud of dust along with the other townspeople. He watched as his father collapsed on his knees, letting out the most heart wrenching scream he had ever heard come out of a human being.
He saw his favorite prima Mirabel latching on to her mother crying hysterically, practically begging her mother to hold on to her, as half of Mira's body, too, turned into dust.
He watched his tío Agustín’s tears fall from his cheeks as he let out a sad smile to his two older daughters before flying away as a cloud of dust into the horizon.
He watched as you, his vida, his luna, the love of his life, were slowly dissolving into nothingness. He rushed by your side, yelling your name, trying to hold on, to keep you by his side even know he knew all too well there was nothing he could do to stop this from happening. He wasn’t even sure what he was yelling at you at this point, anything to keep you by his side was fine by him. You slowly - agonizingly slowly - were disintegrating into dust right in his arms as he caressed your face, your shoulders, your arms (or what remained of them) and looked into your eyes, begging you to stay.
With a small smile, you leaned your head into the crook of his neck and whispered, “I’m sorry mi amor”.
He watched as your smile traveled to the horizon along with his mother, his prima and his tío.
He hadn’t even realised his own screams and sobs, he hadn’t noticed how his body violently shook from grief, he hadn’t noticed his siblings envelop him in a tight hug to keep him calm.
He hadn’t noticed his little brother, Antonio, yelling at him to not “fly away”. He didn’t notice his sister’s tears rolling of her chin as she shook him to “stay with us!”. He hadn’t noticed in the far corner of his view his Abuela crying at the loss of two of her children. He hadn't noticed his tío Bruno, too, leaving the family right in his mother's arms. He hadn’t noticed his father trying to grasp on to him with tears running down his face as if he was going to be lost forever.
The last thing he had noticed was your smile. Your beautiful smile right before you had been snapped. Lost from him forever.
He looked down at his hands, seeing that his fingers weren’t there. His palms were disintegrating at a rate that felt like centuries. He finally looked up at his family screaming incoherent things at him.
He gave them a smile. Not a sad one. He gave them a true, happy smile full of warmth as he finally fully turned into a cloud of dust, flowing into the same direction as you and his family had a while ago.
For now he was reassured that he was going to be with you, his mamá and his beloved tíos. And for the first time that day, he had felt truly at peace.
well damn that was sad wasn’t it?
