No, no, NO! You don’t understand! If they were going to make a movie called “Goncharov” it would have to be a modern REBOOT of the 1973 film. Then everyone would have the right to consume the media while simultaneously complaining about how “it isn’t as good as the original” or “I can’t BELIEVE that they left out the iconic part XYZ”. We get to watch the film and preserve the original. Everyone wins.

a goncharov II movie. no first one, for obvious reasons. but they make a sequel and everyone who KNOWS will know and everyone who doesn’t will… well, you know. perfect way to continue the joke without completely ruining it and see a movie.

Ok we all love Sofia's interactions with Katya but her and Ice Pick Joe?? Like they only interact directly once onscreen and yet it's so good. The whole conversation is perfect

Like Joe asking what happened to Sofia's leg and her deadpanning "your cats ate it" and he actually LAUGHS? Like come on, how can you not love that

I saw the resurgence of the movie Goncharov (1973) and thought I remembered the name from somewhere, turns out my grandpa was a huge fan! I was digging around and found some old posters from the original theatrical release. (Looking back they were really obvious with the Katya/Sophia)

I've seen a lot of people commenting on this particular scene from the recently rediscovered 1973 classic 'Goncharov' and although I agree that it is phenomenal, I couldn't resist posting my fave scene from the movie, which is unsurprisingly one between Katya & Sofia. It's just ... the unexpressed weight of fate, the quiet exchange of feelings and confessions ... I think this movie does an amazing role in exposing the different ways in which women and men, when faced with violence, seek to find confort in each other. Also the iconic time quote ??? Anyways I'm so glad this film is having its well deserved reinasance on Tumblr. I had the pleasure of reading the script as part of a workshop on script writing and I've been mind blown by it since then. Lots of love to all the new Goncharov enjoyers out there <3
