“the coverage of the don’t worry darling press tour and set rumors is only because a woman directed the movie; when a man has a fraught set it’s business as usual” actually the woman-directed film is the most recent one to happen so people are talking about it hope this helps

Jealous Jason Todd Headcanon
~loooong requested hope you enjoy some brotherly competition~
- jason had no idea he wanted you until dick called "dibs" the first night he met jason's mysterious "friend" and newest bat-recruit
- at first, jason didn't care. like at all. but that never stopped him from being an asshole
- "my brother y/n really? what's there to like? i didn't see you as a musical theatre and dad-joke enjoyer" he'd scoff anytime dick tried to make a move
- that didn't stop richard fucking grayson.
- "hey! y/n! fancy seeing you here!" .. "it's the batcave dick i work here" .. "oh, well are you working all night? maybe we can grab some big belly burger after?" .. "we have patrol together you dork"
- honestly, it was endearing being adored, worshipped even. from handwritten poems, to a little mini batarang necklace, and all the weapons your heart could desire
- and for all his dork-tendencies, dick knew a thing or too about hand placement...
- "put me down richard" .. "you literally fell into my arms" .. "i would've landed on my feet" .. "sure princess, but aren't my arms a little better?" he'd tease, sweeping you bridal style out the back door of the gala you two had just rescued
- it was somewhere in between the gift giving, rooftop dates, and stolen glances that jason realized he might want -slightly, just a tiny bit- more.
- okay; he wanted you all to himself.
- but he's always been shit at explaining it
- where dick was obvious and flirtatious, jason started subtle: always inching closer to you, keeping a longing gaze set on your every move-even if it meant tripping himself up in battles- you noticed he would sooner get shot than let you catch a scrape
- and just like dick's coddling, it got annoying
- "jace i've been on the team for months, i think i can watch out for myself" .. "i know, i protect the people i care about" his response was almost a whisper, and before you could pry further, he disappeared, replaced with a familiar cheesy grin "hi y/n! wanna catch a movie tonight?" .. "uh, one sec dick! i need to check on jace"
- but jason was never anywhere to be found. every time he let you in, he disappeared just as quick.
- when you started toying with new weaponry jason was there, you still got butterflies remembering the way he pressed himself against you while fixing your form, his calloused fingertips lighting fires as he subtly adjusted your grip on your gun
- "jay is this right?" .. "mhm your grip is perfect, but the recoil will get you, slide your leg backwards to brace for the impact of firing" .. the minute his hand touched your thigh a shiver ran across your body, against your shaking will .. "oh, sorry i didn't mean to-" .. you cut him off "no it's good, you're good" but before you could turn around to unpack the cloud of tension in the room, jason cleared his throat and gruffly said "fire" ruining any chance of an emotional conversation. three perfect shots to the targets, and with a satisfying nod he was gone once again
- so when dick asked you out on a real date, to a restaurant whose menu alone gave you anxiety at the thought of ordering, you realized you had to give jason the ultimatum
- but for once in his (second) life, jason was way ahead of you.
- "you said yes to dick?" jason was sitting at your desk when you entered your own room, overly dramatic but it was jason todd after all.
- "do i have a reason to say no?"
- "you hate fancy restaurants. you need like a week to plan what you'll order otherwise you'll just be stressed the whole time"
- you rolled your eyes, but jason wasn't finished: "and you hate movies, sitting in one place watching a film you probably haven't heard of, pretending to enjoy the nuance"
- he wasn't wrong. "whatever jace, that doesn't-" .. "i can tell you what's gonna happen. he'll order a wine too sweet for your taste, and talk to the waiter enough to make you want to crawl under the table. then after a perfectly lovely dinner he'll take you to a rooftop to 'show you the sights' and you'll have your first kiss. but you hate the city skyline, it reminds you you're far from home. you like the sound of the ocean and the rusting of the forest. you like something real."
- your heart was in your throat. but you needed something more: "say it jason. don't tell me the future with dick. fucking say it."
- jason stood up, closing the distance between you, eyes now desperate and wild: "say what? that i've loved you since the minute i lost you? that i feel like ive known you forever? that i don't need to learn to love you like he does, i was built for it? that i feel like i was made for you? how do i put it in a few useless words"
- "you just did jay." you whispered, letting him lock his lips in yours with a smile.
- "please go break richard's fucking heart and come home to me." he grumbled, to which you agreed, letting dick down softly and promising to set him up with one of your friends in return for his kindness- a deal which he wouldn't let you forget
- years later, it was more of a household joke, dick claiming he was the catalyst to your and jason's lovestory. to which jason wholly despised, but you never minded giving dick a little credit

geto/gojo acting au but they're in the Scream film
🔞 mdni, shoo shoo !!
note: i had a vision idk 🐸✌️ just suddenly thought of geto suguru as ghostface and it fkn destroyed me. also lol i started writing abt geto and then gojo just wiggled his way into the post too
warnings — it's a trash draft, no proofreading, a smidge of rivalry n jealousy n sexual tension n innappropriate jokes teehee
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok imagine u and geto are starring in some cheesy horror movie like scream or smth and he's ghostface 🤤 maybe there's like a chase scene where he pins you down but the director keeps saying CUT because you and geto just start breaking down laughing.
and he does a lil improv 🤭 it goes something like;
"ooh, that's it; keep screaming for me, baby. it's turning me on." he murmurs when he's practically straddling you with those muscular thighs and you can't tell if he's genuinely saying that to you or if he's still in character — because truthfully he's just that good at fulfilling his psycho killer role.
and yes you know it's fake blood all over his face but he looks so hot in it that when the scene is played back for you two, you have to make a comment on it;
"suguru looks good in all that blood." you say.
"haha shut up." he chuckles.
he's so bashful and cute irl :( not a psycho killer at all! he always treats you nicely, every time he sees you on set or in the dressing rooms he's quick to strike up a conversation with you. he gets a bit possessive about talking to you, it's so annoying to him that people dare interrupt your "moment" so you just know he loves it when the shoot commences and it's just the two of you and a camera. and the fans go nuts for his natural sultry murmuring voice that he uses esp when he's talking to you. ppl really notice everything, even the heart eyes he has for his costar y/n 🤭
and yk gojo is playing as that other guy who's ghostface's friend or whatever. idk but on set, gojo's such a goofy cute character and then off set he takes himself so seriously 😭 but ofc you and geto bring out the playful side of him. he totally fishes for compliments about how good he is at acting. u know and he's like the fancy mf who walks on set with his fancy clothes and stupid sunglasses with that air of i'm the most important actor in this room.
but he probs always accidentally says your name instead of your characters name during big scenes. and it makes him laugh that laugh that has caught so many hearts around the world.
n maybe you and gojo ... MAYBE you two starred together in a cheesy romance film before this dumb horror film, and so everyone online pairs you two together and makes edits of the "steamy" scenes where ur flirting. guaranteed if u type in "gojo x y/n" u will find sooooooo manyyyy clips of interviews that fans claim had "tension"
and that makes geto a lil jealous bc the tension is supposed to be focused on you and him 🤬
esp that stupid clip from the movie where it's gojo cornering u and he's so sultry like;
"you're a lil' feisty, huh?" gojo giggles with a voice crack and it reminds you so much of when he was starring for that one scene in jjk 🙈 you know that show, remember that show? the one you and him starred in years ago? mhm MHM that scene where you're the villain and he's not? and he's like "put out your hand, let me show you something" and he's just showing off his infinity MHM THAT'S YOU IN THAT SCENE (jogo who idk him babe)

Interview with Interview Magazine (2024)
Tumblr media
Before he was known as the dashing Lord Anthony Bridgerton or Tim Laughlin, the character in Fellow Travelers for which he won a Critics Choice Award earlier this month, Jonathan Bailey caught the attention of Phoebe Waller-Bridge with his confident, self-possessed audition for her show Crashing nearly a decade ago. “You came in like a fireball,” said the Fleabag star on Zoom with Bailey, recounting how, while reading for the role of the sex-obsessed Sam, Bailey asked permission to lay his script out on the floor in front of him like a rainbow. “You had no embarrassment. You didn’t actually refer to it again, but you took those few seconds to just completely set up what you exactly needed for that audition, and then you were so free.” In the years since, with roles in Bridgerton, the Showtime drama Fellow Travelers, and the upcoming Wicked movie adaptation, Bailey has become one of the most sought-after actors in the business, capable of generating sparks with whoever’s on screen with him. Waller-Bridge attributes this to the 35-year-old’s distinct understanding of tension. “You’re like a chemistry machine,” she gushed. “There’s this incredible erotic energy that people are so excited about.” Last week, from a hotel room at Claridge’s in London, Bailey talked to Waller-Bridge about longing, orgasms, frosted tips, nostalgia, Shakespeare, and his very first role: playing a raindrop in a stage production of Noah’s Ark.
PHOEBE WALLER-BRIDGE: Hi.
JONATHAN BAILEY: Hi.
WALLER-BRIDGE: I’m taking my glasses off. Now I can be real.
BAILEY: I’ve just had a gin and tonic, actually. I had a meeting and he really wanted a glass of Whispering Angel, so I was like, “Well, I’ve got to dive in.”
WALLER-BRIDGE: What’s the time there?
BAILEY: Oh, I’m literally around the corner from you. Literally, I’ve come into Claridge’s Hotel and checked in for an hour just to have a Zoom.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Oh, god. That’s so chic. Jonny, I want all of your secrets.
BAILEY: I feel like you’ve got quite a few of them already.
WALLER-BRIDGE: I do, actually. And we’re not going to talk about any of those. But I did also get to do a little bit of research on you.
BAILEY: Oh, god. What have you got?
WALLER-BRIDGE: Jonathan Stewart Bailey, I’d like to jump straight in with the fact that the first professional job you had was playing a teardrop, or a raindrop?
BAILEY: There were teardrops, but yeah, I was playing a raindrop.
WALLER-BRIDGE: You were a crying raindrop.
BAILEY: A crying raindrop in Noah’s Ark.
WALLER-BRIDGE: And how old were you then?
BAILEY: I think I was about 5 going on 29. I was really upset because it didn’t rain. The bitch that played Noah, she forgot the cue for the rain to come. So my dance didn’t make it, but at the end of the show they allowed me to do it once everyone had applauded.
WALLER-BRIDGE: I asked you that specifically because you’ve also said that your grandmother took you to see a production of Oliver in London and that’s what changed everything.
BAILEY: Yes.
WALLER-BRIDGE: So was the raindrop before or after that? I am getting to something, I promise.
BAILEY: I think it was probably afterwards. I was really young when I went to see Oliver.
WALLER-BRIDGE: I’m interested because I read that seeing it made you decide you wanted to perform. Can you tell me the specific thing that made it click?
BAILEY: I’ll tell you, the most bizarre thing is that I had three seasons at the RSC under my belt by the age of nine. There was a moment where I played Prince Arthur, the kid in Shakespeare who gets his eyes gouged out and has to escape a turret. I remember doing that production and thinking I was aware of the power of words, if that makes sense. You’re so porous at that age, I think. It is such a gift, isn’t it, to be shown what iambic pentameter is.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Do you still feel passionate about Shakespeare now?
BAILEY: I do, actually. It’s my dirty, filthy habit.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Your dirty little habit. I know what you mean, though, how if you come to it quite raw, and it’s not something that you’ve had shoved down your throat at school, there is nothing more epic and spectacular.
BAILEY: And being around people who are just so committed to their vocation, whether they’re writing or creating. The smell backstage at the RSC at the Barbican was like cigarettes, stage makeup, Joe Fiennes, and hope.
WALLER-BRIDGE: That’s a lot of beautiful smells you’ve got going on there.
BAILEY: I know. Talk about top notes and bottom notes. I was like, “These men, these titans of theater!”
WALLER-BRIDGE: That’s extraordinary that you were exposed to that kind of level of professionalism. Because you are consummately professional, and I remember that. You have this incredible ability to be completely live and spontaneous and wild at the same time as being so incredibly professional, and that’s why working with you felt totally safe. I know that I’ve got a professional actor coming today, but I have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen because you still managed to keep that spontaneity and danger.
BAILEY: I suppose it’s sometimes dangerous. Today I had to do an interview. Crashing came up and I described working with you as being on the constant edge of an orgasm and also hysteria.
WALLER-BRIDGE: It did have a kind of wild, beautiful energy.
BAILEY: There’s a chemical alchemy when you get the right group of people led by the right people.
WALLER-BRIDGE: I haven’t had that in quite the same way since, where everyone has equal importance in the story. That’s the thing that feels quite rare, actually, there’s like six of you and they’re all as fucked up as each other. I remember your audition. You came in like a fireball and you already felt like you had a Sam energy. You sat in your chair, took out your script from your bag, and then you were like, “Give me a second,” and you laid out your script around you on the floor. You had no embarrassment about what you needed or in front of you. You didn’t actually refer to it again, but you took those few seconds to just completely set up what you exactly needed for that audition, and then you were so free. And I just wonder if you’ve felt that particular type of confidence your whole life?
BAILEY: That’s a really good question. I’ve got three older sisters and I wonder if they are a structure. I’ve definitely been in environments where I don’t feel free, and then you give the worst performance of your life. What I’ve found in the last few years is that, of course, you have to adapt so quickly to work out what you need in order to be able to be free. I think if I don’t have the equivalent of that on the floor, I panic or get really scared.
WALLER-BRIDGE: There’s something about that, which is being able to play dangerously in a safe environment. I feel like that’s got so much to do with an understanding of tension, which I think you have. You’re like a chemistry machine. Obviously, with Bridgerton and then in Fellow Travelers, there’s this incredible erotic energy that people are so excited about.
BAILEY: I really think it comes from Crashing.
WALLER-BRIDGE: It doesn’t come from Crashing, it comes from you. I think you’re the king of tension. I think you understand what that is.
BAILEY: I think you can give yourself butterflies, can’t you?
WALLER-BRIDGE: Is that what you’re looking for, the butterfly all the time?
BAILEY: Yeah, I’m always looking for my butterfly farm. The misty, slightly smelly greenhouse full of butterflies.
WALLER-BRIDGE: That’s your tummy?
BAILEY: Yeah, that’s my tummy.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Did you always dream of playing leading man roles growing up?
BAILEY: Not at all, no. I never thought I would be able to.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Why?
BAILEY: I’ve realized that I’m completely in awe of other people and performances and creative endeavors. I go to the theater and I love a performance and I’m like, “How do they do that? I can’t see the seams.” So therefore, I feel like I must be driven by that. And when something comes my way, there’s a fear that it won’t work.
WALLER-BRIDGE: What’s really exciting to me is when I see palpable dynamics between characters, which you have done multiple times, like the relationship between Tim and Hawk. There’s so much opportunity for intimacy and that kind of danger. And when you get to play those sorts of roles, when you know that you can stand in front of each other and you don’t really need to do anything because it’s giving you something, it must’ve just been a joy walking into this world because it’s like a banquet of stuff to play with, right?
BAILEY: Totally, and it feels sort of vital and sexy. I do remember this one memory, which I guess I’ll share with you now. I did play and there was a tiled wall,at eye level with a mirrored border around. And there was a guy, we were into each other, and I remember just looking up in the middle of a conversation and he was looking at me in a reflection. And I was like, “This is what life is about.” Anyway, I think that it must have something to do with feeling the most alive in that.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Do you know Esther Perel?
BAILEY: Yeah, I love Esther Perel.
WALLER-BRIDGE: So she’s written about how she believes that your next orgasm begins at the very end of your last one, which is basically our whole life just building up to our next orgasm.
BAILEY: That’s just fantastic. It’s just so positive and hopeful—
WALLER-BRIDGE: And so beautiful, isn’t it?
BAILEY: It is.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Everything that you encounter in your life, every conversation that you have, is in some way building up to the next euphoric physical experience. Every single character has to have that inside them one way or another, because every human does. And I think with Fellow Travelers, because you long for them so much as an audience and you want them to have everything that they want from each other, but they’re also brutal to themselves and to each other, there is something so extraordinary seeing characters in that time portrayed in the way that you guys have portrayed them.
BAILEY: One thing that we’re all born with is the sense of longing. Longing comes before anything else, doesn’t it? Whoever you put on the wall, laminate the poster or whatever, it’s there. And actually, if you long for someone, more often than not you don’t think you are worthy of it. And that, to me, is a way into characters.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Do you remember your laminated poster longing person?
BAILEY: I think I had the Simpsons, which was obviously me trying to disguise myself as much as possible. Lucy Liu was a big one for me, too.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Well, I can see that.
BAILEY: I suppose there’s the laminated wall in my literal bedroom and then there’s the laminated wall in my gay—
WALLER-BRIDGE: Mind.
BAILEY: Who was yours?
WALLER-BRIDGE: You know what? It’s really interesting, because I was the eagle in the Rescuers Down Under. That wasn’t necessarily a sexual longing, but it was a romantic idea, that overwhelming sense of watching the Rescuers Down Under and being able to run out of the back of my house on my own, age 10, and jump onto the back of a giant eagle and he’ll fly me around. But in terms of just a hottie that I really fancied, I think it was probably Leo [DiCaprio].
BAILEY: Oh, yeah.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Are you a nostalgic person?
BAILEY: Yes, I think so. I think a lot about my younger self. I’m always like, “Guys, remember this?” It’s slightly annoying, but I’m always drawing a line between the past and now for sure.
WALLER-BRIDGE: That’s how you measure your life, by remembering the time that’s gone by or what 11-year-old you would think of what you were doing?
BAILEY: I think I’m probably more romantic than nostalgic, if that makes sense.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Go on.
BAILEY: Well, I just think I’ve fully committed to the idea of everything being brilliant and then I work backwards from there.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Well, having starred in two hit period dramas and also being a huge part of the fact that they are a hit, that’s why I wondered about what your relationship is with the past and history, and how much you actually knew about McCarthy America?
BAILEY: Oh, no. Have you got a quiz?
WALLER-BRIDGE: I actually don’t. Do you want one?
BAILEY: No, that would be the worst.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Do you enjoy historical novels? Do you live in the past in any way in your mind? Or you are kind of like, “We’re here and we’re moving forward?”
BAILEY: I do think I’m here and moving forward. I really struggled with history at school, I could not take in information about the past. When it came to exams, I would remember the page where things were written but I couldn’t stitch together epochs and eras and kings.
WALLER-BRIDGE: It crashes my brain, too. I have a friend, and you can say to her, “June 24th, 1999,” and she can tell you pretty much what she was up to.
BAILEY: That’s amazing.
WALLER-BRIDGE: You can see her go into the diary in her mind. She has a very different wiring of her brain. But speaking of longing, are there any fictional or real life couples, gay or straight, that captured your heart over the years?
BAILEY: Oh my god, what a question. What about Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling in Blue Valentine?
WALLER-BRIDGE: I think Morticia and Gomez Addams were the most romantic couple.
BAILEY: Yeah, I see that.
WALLER-BRIDGE: They understood it. They got it all.
BAILEY: Also maybe Ryan and Marissa in The OC.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Any gay male couples that you ever looked up to or were romanced by?
BAILEY: Well unfortunately, there just weren’t that many were there growing up.
WALLER-BRIDGE: So wild.
BAILEY: But I met Matthew Rhys recently, who I just love. And I was thinking about that relationship in Brothers and Sisters. And then there was Queer as Folk. Russell, T. Davies changed the game. So many people owe so much to him just purely for visibility. There is no Tim and Hawk to a 2023 audience without Queer as Folk.
WALLER-BRIDGE: But did you feel frustrated?
BAILEY: Well, speaking of history, I was doing media studies with an amazing teacher and I decided that I was going to do my dissertation about the representations of Hutus and Tutsis and the Rwanda genocide, looking at Hotel Rwanda and Shooting Dogs. And then Brokeback Mountain came out and I was like, “Hang on, how can I possibly create a world where I can go and have a free pass to go to the cinema to watch it 10 times?” I’m really proud of my 17-year-old self, I wasn’t necessarily out, but I changed the topic to representation of homosexuality in Brokeback Mountain and I watched that film 10 times. And this amazing teacher, Dr. Brunton, who probably had an idea of what was going on, was just like, “This is brilliant, keep going, keep going.” And I think it was the best mark I ever got.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Do you still have it?
BAILEY: It must be on a hard drive upstairs in the attic. And obviously, that completely changed me, something chemical happened there. But it’s funny, I’m not clear on memories. And I do think it’s a common thing for a lot of people, growing up and having to survive and be basically in fight or flight, there’s a murkiness to how I recall.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Of course, because you couldn’t be truly present because you weren’t being completely yourself.
BAILEY: Totally, yeah.
WALLER-BRIDGE: When you look back and start unpacking it, do you feel overwhelmed with sympathy for how hard you were having to work as a 16-year-old, coming up with excuses to see the movie that you wanted to see?
BAILEY: Yeah. But I spent more time trying to be sympathetic towards the people that were around me who didn’t support or couldn’t help. I look back and I go, “Hell.”
WALLER-BRIDGE: Yes. But you are representing that and living that for so many people now. Your speech at the Critics Choice Awards the other day was so sublime and beautiful and straight from the heart. You are so electric as a human being and that is the most important thing. There aren’t many people in the world that can do that, that can stand there in front of people and speak from their heart about what it means to them to be given this opportunity. And I know that your career is just going to be the most extraordinary journey. When I first met you, I remember sitting with Josh [Cole], who was the producer on Crashing, and we were like, “If we get this guy, it’s going to be the game changer for the show.” And I know that every single person now wanting you on their project is feeling the same thing.
BAILEY: I definitely feel overwhelmed by that, but it’s lovely to hear.
WALLER-BRIDGE: Can I just ask you one question which I couldn’t remember about Crashing?
BAILEY: Yeah.
WALLER-BRIDGE: The frosted tips were your idea, wasn’t it?
BAILEY: I had this conversation today. I think it’s in the script. But my reference picture was Justin Timberlake in double denim.
WALLER-BRIDGE: No, I don’t think it was [in the script], because Sam’s a character that I hold closest to my heart because, in so many ways, he represents how I feel about maybe my inner life. I just love him so much, and your ability to play every single little corner of him that I dreamed of.
BAILEY: Maybe that’s the answer I was looking for when you asked if I was drawn to any romantic couples? No, it was just about wanting bleach blonde hair.

what misconception? 👀
I assume this is about the Civil War post I made and oh boy, so many. So, so many. Let me preface this by saying I actually like Civil War enough as a movie. Not as a Captain America movie, but it's engaging and I enjoyed it for the most part. I mostly dislike the dogshit opinions about it. To prevent this from turning into a dissertation, I'll just list the ones that come to mind first/irritate me the most:
"Steve was completely against regulation and oversight" WRONG. He was against the vagueness of it all. He explicitly says that he wants to know whose going to be holding his leash if he has to have one. In fact, he was about to sign the Accords before Tony told him about them preemptively enforcing it and detaining Wanda. Steve was willing to consider the Accords, Steve was trying to discuss the Accords, Steve was on the path to being open to the Accords before the moral failings of it were already shining through. Steve, rightfully so, is distrustful at this point of anonymous authority. Following the news that Hydra had their nasty paws in SHIELD and other high positions in government, Steve decides that he wants to know more about the people who have authority over him. Seems reasonable enough.
"Steve was only against the Accords for Bucky" WRONG. 1) Before he was certain that Bucky was being framed, he says that he has the best chance of bringing him in to minimize damage. Then, when he was certain Bucky was innocent, it became a matter of not letting his bestie be falsely imprisoned and/or killed on the spot. 2) Lemme just add that yes, Bucky is extremely important to Steve, but Steve would have still been against the Accords if Bucky wasn't a factor. I need people to understand this. It wasn't just a "oh no I need to save my best friend". 3) If you read what was in the Accords, you'd understand why Steve would generally be against them. They're abhorrent.
"Steve didn't read the Accords/Steve didn't even attempt to communicate or compromise." I haaaaattttteeee this one with a burning passion. Did we watch the same movie? He's quite literally the only one on screen we see even look at that long ass document. Probably also the only one would could even manage to read the thing since it was sprung up on them 3 days before the meeting (which is a whole 'nother issue for later. For now, I'll just say I support the Ross conspiracy theory). He also tried to tell Tony & Co. before the airport fight that Zemo was the one behind all this conflict, that Bucky is innocent and about the 5 other ultra-dangerous super-soldiers who, as far as he knew, were about to be unleashed onto the world which would be disastrous. Unfortunately, Team IM was wracked with tension and didn't listen and attacked.
"Steve and Bucky jumped Tony (+ variants of this statement)." This is one that confused me so much. Such a bullshit take. I am begging people to rewatch CW and watch the fight. Tony, whose emotions is dialed to a thousand (and not only because of the Bucky thing mind you, but I can talk about that a lot more later because I like talking about Tony's emotional/mental state during Civil War) attacked first, then tries to kill Bucky, Steve tries to get Tony to stop killing Bucky, Tony is trying not to kill Steve, Bucky is trying to get Tony not to kill Steve or him. It's a mess. Mind you, Steve isn't even trying to excessively harm Tony in this scene. It's confirmed that during the entire fight, he was trying to disable the suit. Not trying to beat Tony to a pulp - DISABLE. THE. SUIT. Which he manage to do in the midst of that shitshow.
"*insert any anti-CW Wanda take*" Please, someone please tell me why people think Wanda has any blame for what happened Lagos? Wanda quite literally didn't CAUSE that. I need to understand this point of view before I get an aneurysm. She didn't make the bomb, bring the bomb, set the bomb off. It was Rumlow who had that bomb that would have ended up killing way more people on the ground than where Wanda managed to put it. She absolutely was as much of a hero as she could be in that instance, trying to redirect the bomb away from civilians. Unfortunately, it still ended it casualties, but a lot less than it would have been if Wanda hadn't intervened.
I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. Fanon CACW quite literally has some of the worst fan comprehension I've seen in the MCU. I imagine that a lot of it is not understanding characters, the movie not elaborating on important plot points in an effort to make it 50/50 (which they failed at lol), and the fandom being a lot more conservative than I thought. I can expand further on anything if you want!

Hero Vision Vol.14 (2004/Spring) ft. Kamen Rider Blade Cast Interviews Takayuki Tsubaki & Hironari Amano Segment (translation below)
Publication: May 20, 2004 (between episodes 17-18) Takayuki Tsubaki (Kazuma Kenzaki) & Hironari Amano (Sakuya Tachibana)
"In the show, you play the roles of senior and junior, but in real life, from Tsubaki-kun's point of view, Amano-san is his senior when it comes to the entertainment industry. Do you ever confide your problems in him?"
Tsubaki: Yes, I do.
Amano: (suppressing his laughter) That's a liiie~.
Tsubaki: Ah! But, what about the time we went out to dinner together, or……ah, actually, I can't remember (said lacking confidence).
"When on set, who's the one that's most supportive and follows up with others?"
Amano: No matter who it is, if someone was yelled at or feeling discouraged, everyone follows up with them by saying, "Don't worry about it!" Everyone's so upbeat, and we're always laughing on set.
"When it comes to acting, do you ever talk about things like, "Going forward, let's do this"?"
Amano: Hmmm……For me, I'm not sure where my role is heading. I try not to establish the role from the beginning, but rather, add new elements as the opportunities arise. At first, I thought Tachibana was a calm, cool person who didn't show any emotions, but to my surprise, there are scenes of him losing his temper and yelling early on in the show.
"Do you and Tachibana have anything in common?"
Amano:……The tendency to worry. But, even though in the past I wouldn't tell people about my worries, recently, I've started to actually do so. I've come to realize just how easy it is.
"Tachibana also has a soft side for Sayoko."
Amano: I want to make Tachibana look more human. It's normal for a human to have many sides. There's the face you have during work, and the face you have in your private life. Now, Tachibana is trying to be strong by not relying on others, and it makes me think, "This isn't how a Rider's supposed to be!" (laughs). It may not be the usual justice of the past, but I think it would be great if Tachibana could overcome his obstacles and gain some confidence.
"Tsubaki-kun, do you think there are any similarities between yourself and Kenzaki?"
Tsubaki:……(vaguely) The stupid part of him? (laughs).
"Is it true that you became an actor because you wanted to learn how to express your feelings due to not having any?"
Tsubaki: I don't have any emotions at all, it's like I'm not a normal human, so it's really fun to "become" a human being when I get into the role. When I was younger, I was so loud, that people would often tell me, "You're noisy!"……Various things have happened since then, and I think I've calmed down abit. I also thought that while I'm a Rider, it would be easier for me to be Kenzaki if I didn't have "myself" in mind, so I've decided to think only about Kenzaki for the rest of the year. That's also why when I'm on set and Morimoto-kun is standing right next to me, my blood starts to rush. I think, "Why can't we fight even though I'm here?!"
Amano: Before we start filming, I try to reduce any tension (in order to become Tachibana), but this guy, he does the role the entire time. That's why he speaks in such a weird way. Even when we all eat together, he'll suddenly say, "You Bastard!," and "Get lost!" He would then start beating on Morimoto-kun, whose face looked as though it were saying, "Ehhhh~?!" (laughs). Morimoto-kun would then also act back.
Tsubaki: Morimoto-kun and I have to fight everyday anyway…..
"You'll soon start filming for the movie, where you'll have to think even more about Riders.
Tsubaki:……I don't know what will happen to me if Tachibana-san betrays me any further (said seriously).
Amano: I like how over such trivial things, you'll suddenly start speaking normally! When he talks to me over the phone, he's like, "Tachibana-san! it's Kenzaki! Where are you right now? Please call me back!" It's like he's prank calling me (laughs).
Tsubaki: For Morimoto-kun, "Hajime?!," is what I'll say when I call him. "I'll kill you," is what he'll say in response……
Amano: Ah, but when you talk to me and Morimoto-kun, you do talk normally.
"Morimoto-kun seems like he's trying to match Tsubaki-kun's pace (laughs). Maybe Tsubaki-kun is the type of person who needs to be taken care of by everyone?"
Tsubaki: That's right. But, it can't be helped, since Tachibana-san is currently acting so violent.
Amano: You're talking about in the show, right?
Tsubaki: Ah, right.
"Do you have a favorite line from the show?"
Amano: For me it's, "My body is falling apart!" People will constantly say it as a joke when on set. Hearing it actually makes me very happy.
"It's known that Tsubaki-kun's lines and way of speaking have become a popular topic of conversation among the fans (laughs). I think it's because they love the ridiculous feel of it."
Tsubaki:……I have mixed feelings about it. I'm glad it's being talked about, but still……(saddened).
Amano: During the dubbing process, the tension is so high, that it gives me alot of energy. In the recording room, everyone goes, "Hah! Hah!" (panting) for even the smallest action scenes. Recently, Tachibana's body has been falling apart to the point of hyperventilating due to the excessive panting (laughs).
"Have there ever been times during filming where you thought, "I really messed up big time!"?"
Amano & Tsubaki (at the same time): The snowy mountain scene in episode 3!
Amano: It was so cold that I couldn't move my mouth.
Tsubaki: My face was frozen. But, you can't tell just how hot or cold it is on when watching on the screen, so either way it's still bad.
"We'd like to thank you for all the hard work you go through when filming everyday."
Amano: Before that, I fell asleep for the first time on the Yamanote Line and circled it completely. I got on the train at Ikebukuro, then suddenly realized, I was back in Ikebukuro again. I looked at my watch and said, "Huh, I'm still here, so why is it so late?! Shit! I circled the line!" (laughs).
Tsubaki: I'd be totally fine with it if that happened to me.
"Would you consider yourself athletic and physically fit?"
Tsubaki: No, I'm just young.
Amano:……Would it be alright if I got upset? (laughs). He's not athletic at all! When we were at the snowy mountains, we all snowboarded together, but after like 2 or 3 times, he said, "I'm leaving. I'm tired. I'm sleepy." I was like, "Hey, hey, hold on, Blade!" (laughs).
"You really go at your own pace, don't you? Since you were young, have you always thought you were alittle different from other people?"
Tsubaki: By the time I realized it, people were already calling me weird. But, since we all start out by crawling, in a way, aren't we all weird?
Amano: Oh, that's pretty deep.
"Amano-san, what was your childhood like?"
Amano: I wanted to become independent as soon as possible, so I started looking for part time work by the time I was in my fourth and fifth year of elementary school. One of my friend's mother recommended becoming a child model as a way to earn money with ease, so I ended up joining an agency on my own. I've been in the entertainment world ever since then.
Tsubaki: I become easily emotional when I watch dramas, so….
"So you also wanted to inspire people?"
Tsubaki: (firmly) No, I just wanted to do it myself.
"How honest of you (laughs). Do you feel you're more likely to grow when receiving praise?" Tsubaki: I want to be criticized for my performance. I'm obviously still not good at it, so I need to be told these things in order to become better.
Amano: Well said, I can see just how serious you are (is impressed). I tend to get carried away when I receive praise. But, I also become discouraged when I'm criticized. It's like my weakness…..
"Finally, would you please give a message to the fans?"
Amano: Eh? Ah…(timid) please pay attention to how I grow in the future……
Tsubaki: Tachibana-san! You're the senior here!
Amano: Ah, you're right. We're all working very hard on this, so please continue to watch us!
Tsubaki: Please watch usss!!

future days
-ˋˏ✄┈ summary: after the talk that ellie and joel have, where ellie decides to try to forgive joel, she can't stop thinking about wanting to solve their problems, so she's going to watch a movie with him
-ˋˏ✄┈ word count: 1.4k
-ˋˏ✄┈ warnings: none, it's a cute story that happens before that moment of joel in the last of us part ii. cute moments of father/daughter relationship
The streets of Jackson stretch out before me, too silent and icy for my liking. With each step, I feel the weight of my thoughts, a mixture of nervousness and hope propelling me forward. I had argued with Joel again earlier, and it was something I hated, but I couldn't stop the anger from blinding me.
I walked the familiar streets, but this time my mind was somewhere else. I remembered every word, every look, every difficult moment since I found out the truth about what he had done. I felt like he had taken away an essential part of me. Shouldn't it have been my decision? What had I fought so hard for if in the end I couldn't save anyone?
The sun began to set on the horizon, I can see the shadows of the trees lengthening and the tingle of anticipation rising in my chest in record time. Deep down, deep down, and behind all my negative feelings, I longed for everything to work out. I'm willing to try for him. As stubborn as I'm, I know that Joel is worth a try. I know he didn't mean any harm, he just cared about me.
I walked aimlessly, lost in thought, but at the same time longing for the moment when I would be reunited with Joel. Yes, despite everything, I promised him that I would make an effort to forgive him. I would try to bury my impulses deep in my thoughts. That night, we were going to watch a movie together, a small attempt to reconnect, to remind each other that, despite everything, we still had each other… Fuck, I can't say otherwise, he's the only person I've ever been able to trust.
I have nightmares of his watery eyes on a daily basis. Other days it's dead people, begging for help. But again it's his eyes. Guilt kept me awake on other nights. I'm a mess.
I'm early, too early, but I can't help but feel nervous and excited at the same time. I know tonight is important, a time to try to rebuild what we once had.
I finally make it to his porch, without even thinking about it. Through the window I can see that Joel is looking at some DVDs. I'm sure he's nervous too. Even though I'm already at the door, I prefer to take a deep breath before I hit the door. With every beat of my heart, I feel the weight of the decision I'm about to make. But the weight melts on the spark of hope, a small light in the darkness that reminded me that, even in the hardest of times, he had been with me.
With a little uncertainty, I raise my hand and knock gently on the door. I wait, holding my breath, wondering what Joel will think of seeing me here sooner than expected. My thoughts swirl through my mind, wondering if I should have waited a little longer, if I'm being too impulsive once again.
The door slowly opens and I meet Joel's surprised gaze. His eyes widen a little wider than usual, marking the wrinkles in his eyes. For a moment, neither of us says anything, we just stare at each other, as if trying to find the right words to break the silence. I'm scratching my head without realising it, like a reflex action.
I shrug, trying to look nonchalant when I'm actually shaking inside. "I just wanted to make sure I was here on time," I reply, trying to ignore the knot in my stomach.
Then a slow smile spreads across his face, breaking the tension in the air. "Ellie," he says in a soft voice, as if he can't believe I'm here. "What are you doing here so early?
The surprise on Joel's face slowly fades, replaced by a warm smile. "Well, that's unusual coming from you," he jokes, but there's something else in his tone, something that makes me feel like he appreciates my effort to be here.
I feel a little more relaxed at his reaction. Maybe I'm not as out of place as I thought. With a nervous smile, I step through the door and into his house, ready to face whatever might happen.
My eyes fill with tears and I have to make an effort to hold them back. The tenderness and love I see in the photograph overwhelms me, and for a moment, I just want to run to Joel and hug him tightly, to cling to him as if my life depended on it, as if I were a child. But I restrain myself, keeping my emotions in check as I listen to him speak.
As I enter Joel's house, my eyes sweep around the room, and what I see takes my breath away. It is spotlessly clean, tidy in a way I haven't seen in a long time. The clothes that used to cover the furniture are gone, it even smells good. My eyes stop on an old television set in a corner, next to which is a DVD ready to play. But what really makes me stop is the framed photograph that adorns his desk. It's a picture of the two of us, taken a long time ago, when things were simpler, before the world became so dark and complicated, more than usual. The photo seems to radiate warmth and happiness, and I feel a lump in my throat as I think of all we've been through since then.
"I hope you feel comfortable," Joel says, his voice soft and emotionally charged. "I picked a movie I thought you might like. Well…I don't know, but it's a classic."
I nod, unable to find the words to express what I'm feeling right now. But that gesture, the way he's set this up for us, says more to me than words ever could. Silently, I settle into the sofa, feeling the warmth of his presence beside me.
"The Searchers, starring John Wayne. One of the best cowboy movies ever made. You know, shootings, revenge…fun stuff."
"Is it a cowboy movie?" I smirk, it was always cowboy movies.
That laugh that comes out of his mouth proves me right without me needing to say anything else.
I can't help but laugh when I hear that. "I don't know who this John Wayne guy is, but he sure knew how to have fun."
The film starts playing on the screen, but I barely pay attention to what's going on. Instead, I find myself lost in my thoughts, in my memories. And as Joel sits beside me, sharing this moment with me, I know that we are taking a step in the right direction, in a way.
The vast, barren landscapes slowly captured my attention. I had to make the joke about how it wasn't that easy to ride a horse, otherwise I was going to explode.
The film is over and part of me wants to keep the fact that I loved it, but I end up blurting out "Brutal" as the end credits roll and Joel laughs.
Joel and I shared comments on the most interesting scenes and got excited about every plot twist, we also laughed quite a bit at certain points. As the film progresses, I feel the tension slowly fade, replaced by a sense of wonder and fascination. The vivid imagery and captivating narrative keep us glued to the screen, totally immersed in the story. John Wayne sure did it well.
The room is now bathed in the dim light of night, and my stomach emits a loud growl, reminding me that I'm hungry. Joel gestures and says knowingly, "What if we go out for dinner?"
Tumblr media
I nod enthusiastically, grateful that he's the one to say so. For a moment, as we're leaving his house and discussing the film, I feel like I'm fourteen again. That I feel again that maybe I'm not as alone as I think I am and that maybe I can still consider him my family, despite everything. Maybe in a while everything can go back to the way it was before.

Unmasking Pedro Pascal, the Complicated New Face of Sci-Fi
The Last of Us star talks video games, violence, and playing tough guys (Hi, Mando!) when you’re actually a people pleaser.
PEDRO PASCAL IS a little too nice, actually. Too many hugs. So many polite refusals of snacks. On the set of a photo shoot for this interview, there’s an evident tension inside him. He retreats into the aloofness of celebrity, but he is also eager to connect. He seems to enjoy having his picture taken, but he gets shy when the photographer moves in for a close-up.
It’s in his nature to be open, but he holds a lot of himself back. He’s not too far off, in fact, from the anonymous bounty hunter he plays in The Mandalorian. He wants to take off the mask and let people see his face, but he doesn’t want to deal with the fallout.
Too bad. Not only is Pascal returning for season three of The Mandalorian, he’s also starring in HBO’s The Last of Us, probably the biggest video-game-to-TV adaptation of all time. In that now oh-so-recognizable face of his, one senses, well, shock. It’s unthinkable - magazine covers, TV stardom, all of it - for a kid who wrapped himself up in ’80s movies and late-night HBO after his family fled Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship in Chile, seeking political asylum in Denmark before eventually ending up in the United States.
Pascal always dreamed of being a performer, yes. And he spent years kicking around with small television roles and New York theater gigs before getting his eyes gouged out in Game of Thrones. But he never imagined becoming Hollywood’s go-to reluctant father figure. You know, famous.
Maybe that’s why Pascal now seems chiefly concerned with making those around him feel comfortable. When the shoot runs long, cutting into one-on-one time, he assures me he’ll stick around to talk. And he does, for much longer than his schedule is supposed to allow. I get the feeling he’s just excited to finally be sitting at the cool kids’ table - Ethan Hawke! Nick freaking Cage! - and doesn’t want to do anything to mess it up.
Like most celebrities, there’s a part of him that is a little insecure and hungry for validation; even an offhand compliment about one of his performances seems to set him at ease. He’s most engaged when we talk about his family and politics. It comes through in his voice, his body language, a cleverly deployed arched eyebrow. He cares so much. He’s also uncomfortable caring so much.
This is, I suspect, the source of his powers - that empathy at his core, visibly competing with the tough-guy exterior. Unlike most hero types these days, whose bodies glisten with smoothed-over perfection, Pascal has aged into his face. Whatever he lacks in shine, he makes up for in grit: His broad features and salt-and-pepper facial hair lend him a grizzled, protective air. In The Last of Us, he plays Joel Miller, a father in a postapocalyptic zombified wasteland dealing with loss both personal and global. The performance flicks between menace and heartbreak, infused with deep feeling - a natural ability to find the humanity at the heart of a conflicted hero. That’s Pascal. Our conflicted hero. Empathy hugs and all.
You seem to be picking parts - The Mandalorian, Joel in The Last of Us - that play very intentionally into a tough, conflicted outsider status. But maybe that’s too neat and tidy?
I find it funny when anyone applies choice to my experience. Of course you can say no to things, but you can’t say no to Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, or HBO. It never felt like stopping and considering what the characters were. It was simply the circumstance of a door opening and stepping through it.
So there was nothing specifically tempting about The Last of Us?
To be totally honest, it was wanting to work with Craig Mazin, who did Chernobyl. Also, HBO is content that I literally grew up on. I experienced their original programming. Their original programming was very, very mature.
You mean, like, the after-11 pm original programming.
Absolutely. And I saw all of it, which is pretty nuts.
Your parents didn't care?
Obviously there’s a variety of immigrant experiences in the US, but it tends to be really strict in one way and really open in another way. If my parents liked what they were watching, they rarely sent me out of the room. But I had to get good grades or I wasn’t allowed to watch shit.
Same here - get good grades, do whatever you want.
They didn’t take TV seriously as something that would influence our choices. But basically, I developed a real big dream about being a part of something that would be important to a network like HBO.
So how’d you prep for The Last of Us? Did you play the video game?
I hadn’t heard of the game. Their instruction was: Don’t play the game. I ignored them. I tried to play the game, and I was very, very bad at it. (But my nephew was fantastic.) It was important to me to play notes that were directly related to what was originally in the game - physically, visually, vocally.
Did you bring anything personal to the role?
That’s the fun part—how much you get to externalize internal darkness in a safe way and bring in things that are from your nightmares.
Such as?
Joel’s capacity for violence, and being good at it. I didn’t get into any physical fights growing up, and definitely not as an adult. Violence scares me tremendously. Is it the fear of violence in general? Is it the fear of your own violence?
Or maybe the fear that you’ll like it?
Totally. I love thrill-seeking stuff. But I don’t make a practice of testing my limits. I’m actually a little bit opposed to it. I don’t like pain.
Meaning physical pain?
Pain of every kind. I don’t like psychological, emotional, or physical pain. Some people will be like, Oh, I know that it’s very likely I'll break something, I’ve got to try that. Fuck. That. I don’t think of myself as- I’m not a tough guy.
Really?
I don’t live that way. I’m a lubricant. I want people to feel comfortable. I don’t know how to function at the expense of anyone’s comfort level. I’m a people pleaser.
I see some of that on social media, where you seem to do everything you can to make, say, the sci-fi fandom more welcoming and inclusive. You’re very supportive of your sister, for example, who came out as trans in 2021. How are you navigating your role in political spaces?
Total improvisation and ultimately just erring on the side of, like … [very long pause, two deep sighs] My entire heart is set on, you know, the marginalized underdog. It’s not a choice. Like, how dare anyone not support the people that are deserving of support, and are deserving of protection and need more of it than you do. Do you know what I mean?
Yeah, but some actors would say, My star is rising, I don’t want to get involved with this.
Maybe if you pause to think about it, it could keep you from doing the right thing. And this feels like the barest minimum. Like, the barest minimum.
You mean an Instagram post isn’t enough?
No, it’s not. My personal hope is to seize the opportunity to be of service in ways that are true. I’m keeping my eyes open. The truth is that I don’t think I do nearly enough. I’m, like, a LIB-ER-AL, but there are contradictions there as well, because we live capitalistically. I guess we carry, you know, the weight of that shame?
The weight of capitalist shame? The fact that you make money is a bad thing?
Kind of?
You’ve had late-career success. You were consistently working—
I was consistently working, and it was a total struggle in such a typical way, but there was always somebody that would be able to bail me out—to help me pay my rent or help me get groceries.
But now you must be rolling around in all your money like Demi Moore.
[Laughs] Demi Moore in Indecent Proposal?
Yes.
I don’t have the bod for that. She’s basically the only one who could pull it off. Yeah, I get my cash. I spread it all over my bed and I roll around in it.
I knew it. But seriously, how do you think about your recent stardom?
I didn’t get Game of Thrones till I was in my late thirties. And therefore, the amount of times I was helped, and the amount of people that I could rely on through some really tough times—I’m never going to let some of them ever buy dinner again. I want to take care of people as much as they took care of me.
Who helped you?
There’s the family that my older sister sort of acquired. And then also by becoming part of a theater community that really looks after itself.
You have some famous friends too.
Does that mean we have to talk about Oscar [Isaac]?
The internet loves this friendship.
I met him through a play we did together in 2005. An off-Broadway show where we were getting $500 a week, before taxes.
Do you have a favorite memory of the two of you?
There’s so many. He’s so naughty. His level of naughtiness onstage during that play, for example. He played a ghost, which meant that the living characters in the story could not see him. I had to do my scenes, and he would physically be there, but because my character couldn’t see him, he could fuck with me, all in front of live audiences, as much as he wanted, trying to get me to crack up or forget my lines. The memory is simultaneously dark and wonderful.
Would you say you tend to be a hopeful, forward-looking guy?
We have to hope. But I’m too privileged. You know what I mean? Like, I’m too lucky. It’s an interesting thing. The reason my older sister and I grew up in the States is because my parents fled a military dictatorship. So, you know, only 10 years after my parents were in hiding, I was crying because The Breakfast Club was checked out at the video store.
But I’m guessing there were also challenges?
Looking back, so much of it only seems to present itself as an opportunity. When my parents ended up on a list of pardoned exiles and were able to go back to Chile, it came with enormous families on both sides, which was missing from the experience of growing up in the States. I guess it’s only in middle age where it feels like it can be emotionally challenging to accept that there isn’t anywhere to plant my flag as an individual.
Everywhere is home and nowhere is home. But that also still feels like a good thing to me. It’s often framed as a disadvantage in our culture, but it’s an advantage in character, and in perspective, and in outlook.
Do you think that if you had popped into national consciousness when you were younger, you would not have wanted, say, a traditional Marvel role—the cape and the CGI and all that?
But I do want that. I want to be in movies.
But the world’s in a fairly tense political moment right now. Does that change what it means to be a hero?
There’s so many ways to misunderstand people and to forget that, at the end of the day, your neighbor is very likely to give you the shirt off their own back. The interchanges that you have with strangers are, more often than not, human. But then you can go and look shit up and be terrified by how divided we all apparently are. To comfort myself, I just remember that everybody I come in contact with is sort of, in their own way, heroically kind.
In some ways, you’re the face of that new kind of hero.
Oh my gosh. It’s funny when the phrasing “the face of” comes up, because Mando is faceless. I haven’t thought about it in that way. I’m always struggling to imagine myself as being a part of something that I have been witness to growing up and watching. There’s a disconnect for me - I don’t know how to place myself in that world. Like, I just go a little blank.
Then talk about your character in The Last of Us. Joel can be a little scary.
I think what’s scary about Joel is that none of us really know what we’d be capable of if faced with the idea of losing love. Whether it’s conscious or unconscious, being alive or even being a human being is directly connected to the love you feel. Existing is connected to the love you feel toward a particular relationship - your child, your partner - and to lose that? Some people are not capable of applying rational thought to that kind of loss, or the threat of that loss, or the threat of that loss again, right?
That’s what makes you human.
That’s what makes you human and inhuman. It’s such a beautiful question that the video game poses. I avoid all of it by not having kids. And staying out of relationships.
Do you want kids?
I don’t know.
You’re close with your nephews.
Well, yes. Only because they were so good at playing The Last of Us. No, I’m just kidding.
It’s funny then, or at least a bit ironic, that you keep getting cast as these reluctant father figures.
I love being… I like being able to imagine it.

(Do You) Share My Affection
Pairing: Jake 'Hangman' Seresin x Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw (aka hangster)
Summary: Bradley and Jake end up on a date with each other through an anonymous dating app (because they are just a little bit idiots about each other). The date is the wakeup call they needed.
Words: 2.7k
Warnings: suggestive/mature language, making out, oblivious idiots to lovers, very vague IceMav in the background.
Notes: So, I saw a screenshot from somewhere of two people having a pretty random convo, but one of them said "Wow, there's way more sexual tension now that I hate you" and I went oh that's Bradley flirting with Jake. Thanks to those unknown people for inspiring the text exchange in this! This was supposed to be a quick silly/horny thing and it got a little more serious than originally intended but it is what it is. And yes, they use the app from Ted Lasso, because I thought it worked perfectly for what I wanted. Once again many thanks to @a-reader-and-a-writer for betaing (most of this), listening to my rambles, and for coming up with Jake's username <3 Same goes for @writeforfandoms with the rambles. Everything I write is for you two basically <3

Tumblr media
CloudWrangler: Well, you know, I like long walks on the beach, getting flowers.. and blowjobs😉
CloudWrangler: That's the first date already planned right there. You’re welcome😘
Bradley hadn’t looked up from his phone all day, spending nearly every moment chatting with this nameless (unless you counted his username, which Bradley did not) guy. He was never like this. Normally Phoenix gave him shit for taking forever to answer her texts. Called him a grandpa for often calling her rather than texting.
Originally when Payback had suggested Bradley try out this new dating app, Bantr, he had been more than a little skeptical. He had never used a dating app before, having been content with finding his hookups the old-fashioned way – bars. Hadn't had any trouble with it either, so what did he need an app for? But this new app wasn't picture-based like many others, instead just having faceless people chat and try to connect that way. Bradley supposed that seemed less superficial than even his usual method, which is why when Maverick of all people had badgered him to get out there and make a profile, he'd complied. Mav and Ice had even helped set it up (came up with the username too), which Bradley would never admit to anyone, thank you.
Despite his initial wariness, the app seemed to have a point after all. CloudWrangler had messaged him the day before, and they hadn't stopped talking since. Bradley thought the total anonymity was actually kind of freeing, and found it really easy to talk to the other person, even without knowing what he looked like. Bradley didn't even know how old the man was, but based on some things they'd talked about, he assumed they were roughly the same age. They had talked about mostly superficial, casual stuff like movies, but sometimes the conversation derailed to downright weird nonsense with them arguing over something inconsequential, making Bradley laugh out loud even. He was honestly having fun flirting and, well, bantering with this random man.
Which was why Bradley had asked if they should actually go out and see if they'd have fun in real life too. Sure they could have continued getting to know each other better by texting, but Bradley was still holding on to his ways of preferring a face-to-face conversation. Since Bantr was more of an honest to god dating app and not just for hooking up, Bradley hoped his wanting to meet so soon didn't scare the other man away. Even if their messages had gotten progressively more suggestive too.
Chuckling to himself, Bradley wrote a reply.
Gosling84: 🙄
Gosling84: Yeah well I don’t know, I like nice tits. That’s about all I need
Gosling84: Let me know if you’re up for it
CloudWrangler: I’ll have you know I’ve been told I have very nice tits indeed. But you’re gonna have to give me a bit more if you wanna get to know them, so you let me know if you’re up for it
So yeah, CloudWrangler seriously had no filter, but neither did Bradley. They both shared equal blame in escalating the flirting, which also had turned into a one-upping contest. Bradley was particularly proud of asking the other man if he was a fitted sheet since he was complicated and infuriating but Bradley needed him on his bed.
Gosling84: Fair. But I’m honestly having a hard time coming up with more requests for our date right now
CloudWrangler: And they call me easy…
Gosling84: Wait
Gosling84: How do you feel about baseball?
CloudWrangler: Eh. I can watch a game every now and then. More enjoyable if I go to the game instead of watching at home. Much more of a football kind of guy🤘🏻😎
Gosling84: Ugh
Gosling84: There’s somehow more sexual tension now that I hate you
CloudWrangler: Hate sex is fun sex babe, let’s go
CloudWrangler: I do have one last question though
CloudWrangler: Pineapple on pizza, yes or no?
Gosling84: Hell yes.
CloudWrangler: jfc. Hate sex it is
CloudWrangler: You free tonight?
Bradley snorted to himself slightly. It was nearing eight on a Saturday evening and he'd been talking to the guy all day. Yeah, he was free.
They ended up agreeing on a dive bar far enough from base that Bradley felt comfortable he wouldn’t be running into people he knew all night. He was glad the other man – whose name he still didn’t know – had suggested it. Not that Bradley had a problem with people knowing if he went on a date, it was just easier to avoid a) someone giving him shit for going out with a man, or b) one of his squad mates just giving him shit for going out in general. Like Hangman, who seemed to live for being a pain in his ass, and had essentially cockblocked Bradley the couple of times a girl had approached him at The Hard Deck. Not that Bradley had truthfully minded very much, since he had still been in no condition to do anything anyway. But now it had been months since he'd last gotten laid, what with deployment, the mission, and the healing after the mission, so he was ready to be getting back in the game. Maybe going on this date wasn't such a bad idea.
He decided on his usual attire of nice jeans, a white tank top, and one of his father’s old Hawaiian shirts. It was casual but still nice, and most importantly it made Bradley feel confident. He knew he looked good, but it was still kind of nerve-wracking to go on what was essentially a blind date, since the other guy didn’t know what Bradley looked like any more than Bradley knew what CloudWrangler looked like. Besides that he apparently had nice tits.
Shaking his head, wondering if he was insane for doing this, Bradley grabbed the keys to his Bronco and set off.
-
Jake was nervous. And when he was nervous he was early. Only Bob was as bad as he was about being early everywhere, and somehow Jake managed it even when spending a good amount of time on his hair. He'd been sitting at the booth for 15 minutes now, watching the door like a hawk for every person who walked in, wondering if they were his mystery man.
Would they have the same chemistry in person too? Would there be a physical attraction? Usually he could count on there being that (often only that). This was his first ever Bantr date. He was much more used to Grindr hookups, but this was different. He never talked to guys on Grindr for this long before meeting up, and usually it was just straight to fucking anyway. Not much talking was required there. This was the first time he didn't have just his good looks to rely on. It was new for him in many ways.
He decided to leave one more message to the guy.
CloudWrangler: I'm at the second booth from the back, left side of the counter. Wearing an orange shirt. Come find me😉
Now he just had to wait for the guy to arrive. At least there was no one important to witness it if he got stood up or something. Trying to get his nerves under control, he stuck a new toothpick in his mouth, just as the door opened once again.
And then the toothpick fell out.
"Are you fucking kidding me?!" he croaked to himself as none other than Bradley fucking Bradshaw walked in, strutting like the rooster he was.
What were the chances that Rooster would arrive at the same bar as he was?? What the fuck?
Rooster had frozen a few steps from the door, looking down at his phone and then looking up straight at Jake. And then repeating it three times, shock and recognition warring on his face.
No. No way. No fucking way. This was not real.
Jake buried his face in his hands, groaning at the mess that was his personal life, as the mustached menace sat himself down at the booth opposite him.
"Bradshaw. Whatare you doing here?" It was more of a rhetorical question, since the answer was becoming quite apparent.
Bradshaw answered anyway, "Well, as I understood it, I think I was supposed to give you a blowjob in exchange for getting to see your tits, or something like that."
Jake's mouth dropped open as his hands finally fell back into his lap.
"First of all, I should have asked why did this happen to me, and second of all, who said you were blowing me? I just said I like blowjobs."
Jake didn't know what possessed him to say that, but he thought it may have served its purpose when Rooster's mouth dropped open as well. At least they were now even.
He felt like he was slowly gaining back his footing in this bizarre situation, so he continued teasing, "Besides, you didn't even bring me flowers."
Rooster's eyes shot open (when had he closed them?) and inexplicably, his face flushed red.
"Now, don't laugh," the brunet started, "but I actually did."
"What?"
"You said you liked getting flowers, so I stopped to get some. That's what took me so long," Rooster mumbled.
There was a faint buzzing in Jake's head. Was this real life? Had he hit his head? Had Rooster?
"Wh- Well, where are they?" Jake asked, bewildered.
Rooster blushed even harder, positively scarlet now.
"They're still in the Bronco. I chickened out on actually bringing them inside."
Jake was going to die, here at this booth. Yes he was.
"Same old Rooster," he chortled. "That's… goddamn adorable. What did you get me?" he couldn't help asking.
"Uhh.. It was just a bouquet that I thought looked nice. I don't really know much about flowers, and I didn't know what he – you, that is – liked. There were some daisies I think. Reminded me of mom a little bit," Rooster admitted, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh."
Jake was sure he would have loved the flowers. Who doesn't love getting flowers? They make you feel special.
An awkward silence settled at their table. Jake had no idea how to continue from here. Would they still have the date? Would it be weird? If he was honest with himself, now that the initial shock had worn off, he was kind of relieved. He already knew Rooster, was already attracted to him (obviously), he already..... liked Rooster.
Shit. This was his opportunity to have it all, only Rooster probably wouldn't want to…
"Do you–"
"Do you–"
They both started at the same time and then cut off, motioning for the other to go on, chuckling awkwardly. Jake groaned internally. Why were they like this?
For all Jake's jokes about Rooster's perch, he was the one to actually take the leap this time.
"Do you want to maybe go for a walk? I feel like we should talk, and it's getting louder in here," the brunet asked.
It wasn't really that loud at the bar, but Jake admitted that it might be easier to have whatever conversation they were about to have in a more private setting, so he agreed.
"It's not really a walk on the beach but," Rooster shrugged, "we can walk as long as you'd like at least."
Jake arched an eyebrow at him. "You're really angling for that blowjob, huh, Roo?"
"No, it's not that! I mean, I just–" he broke off with an exasperated sigh. "If I'd known it was you, I would've planned a proper date."
"What? Why?"
"Well, you know. You deserve a proper date."
He did not know. In fact, Jake was very much not in the know right now.
"Besides," Rooster continued, unaware or uncaring of Jake's confusion, "I'm probably not what you were looking for tonight."
Alright. Here went nothing.
"Are you kidding me? I mean yeah, I didn't expect you, but I was on that dumb app trying to forget about you in the first place," Jake said, trying to sound a lot cooler about it than he felt. "Javy said I was being stupid, that I should at least try shooting my shot with you first before assumi–"
Jake suddenly noticed that Rooster had stopped a few paces ago.
"Well, why didn't you?" Rooster demanded, as if he was personally offended by this revelation.
"Well, I thought you were straight for one thing!"
"Oh." Rooster blinked. "Well, I'm not."
"I kind of got that now, yeah," Jake rolled his eyes.
"What's stopping you now then?"
Jake froze. Rooster was calling his bluff, but Jake could do that right back. Trying to look unaffected still, even with his heart hammering wildly, he threw back as cockily as he could muster, "The fact that you're standing over there and I'm over here?"
What he hadn't anticipated – even though he probably should have – was Rooster taking those few steps to come stand right in front of Jake, so close that he had to slightly tilt his head up to meet Rooster's dark eyes. And damn if that didn't thrill him.
"What about now, Jake?" the other man asked in a low voice.
At the sound of his first name coming out of those lips, Jake let out a sound that was purely plosives.
Bradley – because yeah, this was getting way too intimate for callsigns – reached out and cradled Jake's jaw in one big hand.
"In case there's still something stopping you, let me tell you what was stopping me. I was just the dumbest man alive. I didn't even realize it before the moment I saw you tonight, that the reason I was having so much fun talking to the guy on the app was that it reminded me of you. I was having fun because I was talking to you, and not some stranger."
Jake blinked. Oh. Okay then.
"I guess we're both a bit dumb," he said, huffing out a laugh. "I should've known it was you. Who else loves pineapple on pizza?"
Bradley rolled his eyes, smiled as if that was the best joke he'd ever heard, and leaned in to kiss him.
-
Bradley really didn't know how he'd been so dumb. Kissing Jake felt so right he wondered how he had ever kissed anyone else. And Bradley liked kissing. This was just.. different somehow. Better.
He moved his hand to cup the back of Jake's neck just as the blond let out the tiniest, breathy little moan. Bradley wanted more of that. All of it. He felt Jake step even closer so that they were pressed together from head to toe, Jake's arms coming around Bradley's waist, running across his back.
His tongue had wandered off to explore Jake's mouth a good while ago, and Bradley vaguely thought that he might never pull it back to his own. He'd just have to live like this, his face plastered to Jake's. Didn't sound like a bad idea.
Jake evidently disagreed. He pulled away just a little bit to catch his breath, but Bradley didn't mind. He could continue his project of inhaling every piece of the other man he possibly could, instead bending down a little to kiss and nip at his jaw, down toward his neck.
"Br– Bradley?" Jake panted. "D'you wanna.. maybe go somewhere? You know, somewhere more private?"
Bradley blinked a few times to clear his head. "Yeah, yeah that sounds good."
Then he remembered they were more than a half an hour's drive away from their homes. Shit. That was a long time in a situation like this. In separate cars.
"Is the back of my Bronco private enough?" Bradley asked, hoping Jake knew this was just to take the edge off and that he would treat the blonde like he deserved when they got home. And talk. They'd talk more, later.
"Shit, yeah, that's good enough for now," Jake grunted and grabbed Bradley's hand to drag him back toward the bar's parking lot.
"As long as we don't destroy my flowers. I still want them."
"Of course, sweetheart," Bradley murmured, pressing a kiss to Jake's knuckles, and enjoyed the way his cheeks went a little pinker.
[end]

Bonus: telling you how it went when IceMav helped BradBrad set up the profile, courtesy of Vee. Cause Mav and Bradley were in the kitchen while Ice was in the living room, occasionally intervening because he had to. As his voice wouldn't carry that far, he texted Mav his opinions instead.
*ding* "Geez, Ice! I said we won't say it!" *ding* "I said fine!" *ding* "Then you come do it!" *ding* "Oh. That is better."
thank god for Ice

Changérion Bible - Hagino Takashi interview
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Translation by Windii, scans by me
(Mild spoilers for a few episodes of the show)
Carefree, but manly! Suzumura Akira, a descendant of a family of weird (?) detectives whose ancestors have been venerable for generations, has somehow become a hero of justice. Where in the world would there be an ally of justice who would use "being a hero" as a way to pay his debts…? Ah, here he is. So we talked to Hagino Takashi, who played Akira, and who has created a stir in the way heroes are supposed to be.
"Actually, last year when I was in a drama called Love is Justice, I went to the scene very depressed. I had a chance to think a lot about what kind of job it is to be an actor and what kind of actor I am…"
-The trigger was an encounter with two actors.
"Takahashi Katsumi and Tayama Ryousei, both of whom have stage backgrounds and have a great deal of skill and experience. And since it was a drama about lawyers, there were many courtroom scenes, and I was in the audience as a detective. Every time I was in the courtroom behind the fence, I would watch the various performances and think, 'Oh, they are so good, I wish I could be a part of that.' I was very envious of the high tension and flexibility of the actors. The two of them have taught me that the world is a big place. I am sure they went through a lot of hardships, but when they talk about it, it all becomes a charming boastful speech. I admired their personalities. When I look back on my own acting, I think, what have I done? I have done many things in my life, but what is my own acting? I enjoy being on set. When the courtroom scene starts, I become a spectator. I am the first person in the audience to see the two perform. But on the other hand, it's like, what about me? So it was a lot of fun, but also a lot of pain."
-Is it the actor's desire to perform on an equal footing?
"Yeah. At the time, I thought about many things. I wondered what was wrong about my acting, why was I so troubled, what on earth was bothering me, and so on and so on, rinse and repeat."
-Escape from that conflict came suddenly one day.
"It wasn't triggered by anything. I met a lot of people, read a lot of books, watched a lot of movies, and gradually I thought, 'Ah, I have no choice but to do this.' I was troubled and suffered a lot, but I arrived at that answer. As I worked consistently, even in one or two scenes of a two-hour drama, I talked with the director every time, and as I acted, I came to be able to separate the role from the real me."
-It was the beginning of a new awareness of the need to "manipulate roles at will."
"In interviews and such, I was told that I was just as I was, even though there were usually some differences from the role I played in Changéríon. I thought the same thing. But finally, I came to think that no matter what role I play, a role is a role and I am me. But since I am the one playing the role, I am more determined than before to always give it my all, but I have also come to have a sense of calmness about it. That's why I was able to play the role of Ouja in "Kamen Rider Ryuki" with a very detached attitude. I don't know if "detached" is the right word, but I hope to be able to play the role even if I don't have the role in my mind. If I have to play a role that is completely different from me again, I may feel conflicted, but be that as it may, I would like to see myself in that role as soon as possible. And I hope to complete it before I die. I think I have come to be able to look at things from a longer span of time, rather than immediately judging whether or not something is "not in me" or "not possible." For example, if there is a costume that I would have thought "what the heck" before, now I can say "yes, I will wear it" if that is what I want. I am not so much asserting myself anymore. In that sense, if I played Akira now, it would be different. That was a role I was able to play because I was doing it then as it was, and I don't think I can play it anymore. And now I am playing completely different roles, and when I receive fan letters, some of them say they were betrayed in a good way, but I'm not really conscious of that. I'm just thinking, that was then, this is now, and I'm me."
-Are you now experiencing fulfilling days?
"But of course! But sometimes, when people around me say that they're so scared of Ouja, I think, 'Shut up, I get it' (laughs)."
-It is said that you are impersonated by all of your co-stars at the scene.
"It's like, oh my God, they're all so cocky in a way. Everyone was quiet at first, but then they started to rebel (laughs). But it's fun. I used to work with a lot of senior actors, but this time there are a lot of younger actors, and it's a lot of fun. I think of myself as everyone's big brother. ♡"
-He describes his position in the midst of that as follows.
"I do what I'm given, and I think everyone else does the same. I think it's important that we do our best to create one thing properly."
-It is not about not losing to anyone, but about not losing to yourself. Not to be aware of others is actually very difficult, but it is a very big deal.
"Really? That makes me happy. Apparently, everything seems to take a long time for me, and there were times when I had a hard time being aware of other actors my age, but recently I finally got there."
-Now that you are in such a state, did you have any resistance to "transforming" again?
"I have to admit that I was a bit embarrassed by the transformations. But at the same time I wondered if it was appropriate for a 29-year-old. Still, it was a big deal to get a transformation at the end of my twenties. But, well, the people who knew me invited me, so I felt the most motivated to do my best."
Changéríon Memories
"We were just filming episodes 30 and 31 when we heard that the show was coming to an end. Episode 30 was the one where the dark creature in the form of a Zen priest appeared, and his end-blown bamboo flute was so loud that everyone had insomnia. The cries of 'I can't sleep!' were filled with a sense of 'Why did this get cancelled?!' (laughs). So I was very excited about episodes 33 and 34. But in the preview for episode 36, there was a voiceover saying, 'I don't care about this show anymore,' (laughs) and I'm sure the staff was determined to give it their all."
-In episode 35, Akira was abducted by Zafia, a dark creature who is in love with and obsessed with him, and somehow in the middle of the desert, he was tied up naked and whipped in a crazy fantasy scene.
"That was crazy, wasn't it? We shot it in front of a blue background and composited it, and the director praised my panting (laughs). It was kind of absurd."
-That desperation (?) is said to have been a bit unusual to be before the final episode.
"There was a break before we shot the final episode, and I had a lot to think about, so I got sentimental. But now I think it was all for the best."
There After All! Auditions
"The first time I met Hayami (Aizawa Kazunari) was when we rode together in the elevator at Toei's headquarters when I was going to an audition. I asked him what floor he was on and he said "…the 8th floor." I remember thinking, "You should use polite language when you meet someone for the first time," but he insisted that it was polite language. I had the worst (laughs) impression of him. So after I passed the test, we had a costume fitting, and I told him that the guy who played Hayami would be there, and he came. And when we were shooting the first episode, he asked me what he should call Akira, and I said, "Just Akira" while thinking that he seemed like such an upright guy."
-Legend has it that you were in your best personal attire at the audition.
"Well, um… I went to the audition on the way home from some party. I was wearing a really nice suit at the time, and I remember the manager telling me why I was wearing that…"
-It was a flashy double three-button men's Bigi suit.
"At the time, I loved Shouken's Wounded Angel, and I had made everything up, from the accessories to everything else, and of course I had my shirt bare, and my pants were a little thicker, so my whole body had a tight vertical line. The theme song was playing in my head, and I felt like Shouken, so I opened the door and said, 'Ah, hello ♡.' I had read the script for the first episode beforehand, and I didn't go in thinking, 'Oh, I really want to do this,' so I didn't really prepare for the role. Looking back on it now, I am horrified. That's the work of ignorance, isn't it? (laughs)"
-As a result, you passed the test with flying colors, perhaps thanks to (?) your appearance. However, the new attempt at casting, aimed at creating an unprecedented hero show, (seemingly) caused a ripple in every quarter.
"I was told for a long time that it wasn't decided (laughs). I was told, "It's not decided, but we're going to take the camera test, we'll introduce you to (suit actor) Jirou, and we're going to greet the big guy." Toward the end, I was like, 'Do whatever you want. ♡' But the producer, Mr. Shirakura, and the director, Mr. Nagaishi, both smiled and said, 'Well, I guess it's okay.'"
-The real challenge, however, was the final audition.
"I was told that there would be no dialogue test, so I was very relieved. Then one day, they handed me the script and said, 'Well, let's try to get this together,' and I read the lines with my heart pounding… By the way, that was for the first episode, when I disguised myself at school."
-The next day, to his surprise, the manager was summoned to Toei's headquarters. According to him, "He asked a certain producer with whom he had been in contact for some time, "What do you think of that?!' (laughs)" (according to the manager) From those words, you can guess how good the acting was…
"But, you know, from my point of view, it was so perfect that it couldn't have been any better. But Mr. Shirakura said, 'Next time I decide to go with this guy, I'll never let him read another script.' and I was like, 'Huh?' and he said out of the four who were left, I was the worst."
-In the end, rumor has it that Mr. Shirakura and the entire staff pushed through the company until the very end, using only photographs and visual materials.
"Well, I mean, I guess my performance was amazing, making everyone say that much! (laughs)"
-That's true… In other words, you had "something" that made people say the role of Akira belonged to Hagino Takashi, even though you had gone that far (laughs).
"But actually, I found that out around episode 20, when I was having a drink with Mr. Shirakura, and now that he finally told me about it, now I'm depressed about it! So, if it were to be released on DVD, then I would have to rerecord the dubbing… No, I'm sure it would be painful to watch… but, it's a good memory in that sense, so let's leave it as is! Yeah, let's!"
-Mr. Hagino was convincing himself on his own. In fact, this program is the first Toei tokusatsu work to be released on video while on the air, and it's incredible (laughs). It is said that it also set a sale record. It may be because the times were too early.
"Most heroes start out as bad boys but become good guys toward the end, but Akira was like that until the very end. In the script for episode 28, there was something about "Akira turning into a cat" (laughs). We don't have shows like that, do we?"
-He borrowed money from the bank, went on binges, and was lectured by monsters about the true image of a hero. It is not difficult to imagine how much friction there was at that time to dare this program. However, the voices of the third party did not enter the scene at all.
"For me, I thought I was just doing something fun rather than doing something great, and I didn't think about whether the numbers were bad or how it was. It was just fun anyway."
-That atmosphere was definitely palpable.
"That's why I'm glad that even after six years, there are still people who say they like it. I'd be happy if you could keep it as a secret treasure."
Akira (Hagino Takashi) & Rui (Matsui Yuka)
Rui: I hear you're doing Kamen Rider now? Akira: Oh man, I transformed again! It was called "Sanzen" at the scene, but I told them it was "changing." Rui: That's great, you guys are so close. Akira: The staff is all together, after all. The other day, my brother showed up, and his name is Akira, and we have the same name spelling. And of course, it was written by Mr. Inoue (laughs). Rui: Ah, I'm sure the fans will be happy to know that there is a connection like that.
Akira: It's been a long time. But you haven't changed at all. Rui: You too, Hagino. I had to drop out of the role due to a car accident, so it's been about five years since we've seen each other. Akira: That's right. That was a surprise. I'll never forget the tree-lined street in Aoyama! You didn't show up at all, but we were all talking about how it wasn't like you to be late, and then we got a call that you had been in an accident, and all hell broke loose. There was a lot of dialogue by Rui in that episode, but we tried to do something about it, and in the end, we had Hayami say one line (laughs). Rui: I see… I'm sorry. Akira: Was your head okay? Rui: Hmm… maybe I hit it a little and lost some of the contents? Akira: Maybe there was nothing to begin with… (laughs) Rui: That's mean… but that may be true (laughs).
Akira: My first impression was that you looked much younger than your age. I thought you were in junior high school… Rui: I was nervous because I was in the middle of the show… and you looked really scary (laughs), so I wondered what kind of person you were, but when I greeted you, you smiled at me, and I was happy. Akira: Really? (happy) It was a pity that there was an accident just when we were all getting to know each other. Rui: I hope we can play together again someday. Akira: Yeah. If we work hard in the same world, there will be opportunities. I'm looking forward to it.

Look, I get that as a Star Trek fan, I should be happy. Oooh, look at all the new Trek that's coming!
But there are lines in this story that make me obscenely, indescribably, unrationally outraged.
“We take it very seriously,” says David Stapf, president of CBS Studios. “‘Star Trek’ is one of the most valued, treasured and to-be-nurtured franchises in all of media.”
WELL YOU HAVE A FUNNY WAY OF SHOWING IT!
Paramount's stewardship of Trek post-Roddenberry has always annoyed me but this quote shows how tone-deaf these people are. Through their actions they show that when they mean valued, they mean profitable and what they can get out of it. When they mean treasured, they mean it's to be mined for gold and leveraged for our own ends, not the good of the franchises. And nurtured? How? With money? Yes, I'd say they're pouring more into Star Trek then ever before, but also why does everyone working on Trek feel they need to make clear the franchise is good value for money? Case in point from the story: "That tension isn’t exclusive to the film studio. I lost count of the number of times someone made a point to note, with real pride, how one or the other of the “Star Trek” TV productions is saving money, whether it be “Section 31” repurposing sets from “Discovery” or “Strange New Worlds” redressing the same set to be everything from crew quarters to a sparring gym. No one will get specific about budgets, but Kurtzman says that “Section 31” costs “so much less than you’d ever make a ‘Star Trek’ movie for.”"
Are they nurturing the fan base? How exactly? The article goes into great detail about how well Trek is doing on Paramount+ but fails to mention that Paramount+ itself is not doing well. Why are you hiding Trek away on a platform few people use? Because like Voyager on UPN in the 90s, Trek is THE DRAW. But you can't draw new fans on a platform no one is watching. How many people discovered the old Trek shows because they were/are on platforms people can access easily? You own a legacy TV network? Why isn't at least ONE of the Trek shows predominantly on CBS? Then you can use it as a taste at least to get people to sign up and see the others? Then there's the haphazard way they handle merchandising and licensing for the new products. You have amazing new series. How are you getting them into the hands of young people? Even Prodigy didn't air on Nickelodeon right away. As a result, you have this greying of the franchise issue.
"I ask “The Next Generation” star Jonathan Frakes, who’s acted in or directed more versions of “Star Trek” than any other person alive, how often he meets fans for whom the new “Star Trek” shows are their first. “Of the fans who come to talk to me, I would say very, very few,” he says. “‘Star Trek’ fans, as we know, are very, very, very loyal — and not very young.”" Paramount needs to change tact. Take a page from Disney/Lucasfilm. Sure, they are certainly trying to turn Star Wars into the proverbial dead horse to be beaten, but the Star Wars generational legacy is secure.
They need to stop speaking in platitudes. You say Trek is valued? Then SHOW IT.
Let Trek fly in the mainstream.
Give it a wider net to catch new fans.
Actually show faith in it, rather than using it as an IP for making money. Be more accessible.
Oh and fix your damn licensing on Deep Space Nine and GET ME MORE MERCH TO BUY!

I feel like this could be multiple parts if people like it, since I’m almost done with my semester I’ll have more time to get things out more consistently during the summer, so if you’d want more please let me know!
Masterlist PART 2
Tumblr media
You’ve been Javi’s personal assistant ever since he moved to Santa Barbara to get away from all the “business” in Mallorca. He didn’t really talk about it, but you knew it changed him and despite how much he tried to hide it, you could see the trauma it caused.
Despite the success of his movie with Nic, he tried to stay out of the spotlight to keep any lingering enemies from finding him. He didn’t get out much, and so you ended up being pretty much the only person in Javi’s life.
You spent all your time with him, living in his guest house, though most nights you fell asleep on his living room couch after working halfway into the night.
On those nights, you could often hear that he was having nightmares, but whenever you were just about to check on him he’d calm down.
You didn’t mention anything to him so he wouldn’t think you were intruding.
You also couldn’t lie to yourself, staying in the main house until Javi fell asleep hasn’t really been an accident in months. You wanted to be there, close enough that if he didn’t calm down on his own, you could help him.
The moment you met Javi you knew you were going to fall for him. He was charming, funny, a little bit chaotic, and really fucking sexy.
Working for him didn’t feel like work.
Yes, he paid you, but he didn’t treat you like an employee, more like a good friend that happens to run his business.
You wished it could be more than that, but you’d never risk your job trying to make a move. You’d rather spend the rest of your life pining for him in secret than have to leave because you told him how you feel.
Tumblr media
On this particular night, Javi seemed more tense than usual. He had decided to go to the grocery store on his own earlier in the day; he’d said he wanted to cook something special and there were a lot of specific ingredients he needed to pick out himself. When he got back, he looked like he’d seen a ghost, but when you asked he just brushed you off and secluded himself in his office.
After a few hours, he emerged again, sunny as usual as if nothing was wrong. He made dinner and you two enjoyed the meal together. Despite his outward attitude being happy, you could still feel lingering tension.
As you finished dessert, you decided to push a little.
“Javi, is everything okay? You seem a little stressed.”
“Everything is fine” he smiled, picking up your plate along with his and escaping to the kitchen.
After he put the dishes in the dishwasher, he walked back out, making his way quickly to his bedroom.
“I am tired, I am going to get some sleep. Feel free to stay as long as you like.”
The last sentence felt pointed, like he wanted you to stay. You still didn’t understand what was wrong, but you just got the feeling you needed to stay tonight, not that you had planned to leave.
You had some emails to respond to, so you set up your laptop and settled in on the couch.
Tumblr media
A few hours later, you were finally finishing up your work, when you heard some sounds coming from Javi’s room. It sounded like the sheets rustling, maybe he was just turning or something.
But his movements started sounding more frantic, and eventually he seemed to be muttering something. You waited a few minutes, but around the time when he’d usually calm back down, things were just getting worse.
You quietly stood up from the couch, getting a little closer to the bedroom. Javi kept the door open so you could see him in the dark, head turning rapidly, a layer of sweat on his forehead and chest.
His hands were fisting the sheets, and he was getting louder, starting to form words.
“No… please… no!”
He sounded completely panicked. Steeling your nerves, you pushed the door open the rest of the way and rushed to his side.
You grabbed his hand, gently rubbing his arm to try waking him.
“Javi, hey Javi wake up, please wake up it’s okay” you whispered, trying not to startle him too much.
His eyes finally opened, and he searched the room for a moment trying to get his bearings, and when he finally saw you his breathing slowed a little.
“Querida, what…?”
Querida. He’s never called you that before.
“It’s okay, Javi. You were having a bad dream. Just breathe. Do you want some water?”
You started to move to get him a glass, but he grabbed your hand.
“No, please just— please stay.”
You nodded and he shifted a little to make room for you to sit on the edge of the bed.
Javi sat up, but didn’t let go of your hand.
He ran his free hand through his hair, continuing to work on slowing his breathing down.
“You wanna talk about it?”
He didn’t really, but he also knew it might help.
“Today when I went to the grocery store, I thought I saw someone from my past. When I got home I did research to make sure he was not here. It was not him, but I will not pretend it did not scare me. I guess it brought up all of my bad memories and caused a nightmare.”
You were trying to maintain eye contact to keep him grounded, but he kept looking away. You knew you were reaching a line you hadn’t ever crossed, digging into things he might not be ready to share. But you also couldn’t let him feel this way alone.
“What happened in the dream? Was he coming after you?”
He hesitated. He was debating whether to tell you. Just as you opened your mouth to tell him he didn’t have to tell you any more, he spoke first.
“No, he was not coming after me directly. He was— he tried—“ Javi took a steadying breath.
“He was going to hurt you.”
You almost didn’t hear the last part he was so quiet.
“Well, I’m right here and I’m just fine. It was just a dream. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Promise?” He was looking into your eyes now.
“Cross my heart.”
That’s when things shifted. You both felt it. You’d crossed that invisible line and now you were teetering at the edge of a cliff, and all you had to do was jump.
Tumblr media
He must have had the same thought, because you both leaned in at the same moment, lips finally meeting. That first kiss was gentle and quick, but Javi moved his hands to cup your face and pulled you in again for one that was much hungrier.
One hand then moved down your back, encouraging you to get even closer. The angle got a bit difficult so you soon ended up on his lap. You placed your hands on his bare chest and pushed just enough to get him to look at you.
His pupils were blown wide, lips puffy and a blush creeping up his neck (which you were very much hoping to get your mouth on soon).
“Javi, will you let me take care of you? Take your mind off those memories?”
“Yes. Please.”
You brought your hand up to his face, stroking his cheek, mapping every beautiful landmark. You ran your fingers through his curls, causing him to close his eyes and lean into your touch.
“You’re so beautiful, Javi.”
You kissed his lips again, then moved to his jaw, and down to his neck. You spent time there. Licking and nipping gently like you’d been desperate to do since you met him. As you moved down to his freckled  shoulder, his hips bucked up against yours, reminding you of where he really needed you.
Loathe to cease your ministrations on his upper body, you slipped one hand down to his flannel pants, undoing the tie, and gently wrapping your fingers around his length.
While you left little marks on his collarbone and chest, where no one else could see them, you slowly stroked him, earning little whimpers and gasps from Javi.
You descended down to his tummy, worshipping it just as equally, and eventually your lips met up with your hand.
“Querida, you don’t have to—”
You cut him off by wrapping your lips around him, taking him most of the way into your mouth in one swift motion.
He grabbed your hair, careful not to pull, but desperate to touch you. He cursed and praised you continuously as you worked.
“So g-good to me, always so good. My star. I have— fuck— dreamed of this for so long.”
Your hand returned to Javi’s cock as you moved your mouth to gently suck his balls, causing his breath to hitch and whimpers to get a little louder.
“Please, little star. I am getting so close, but I don’t want it to end like this. I need— let me be inside you.” He gently grabbed your arms, pulling you up to his lips again, hips once again top of his.
“Anything, Javi. Take anything you need.”
He quickly rid you of your shirt, staring in awe at your breasts as his hands came up to touch them. He took one nipple into his mouth, causing your back to arch into his touch. Suddenly he flipped you, laying you down on the bed and hovering over you.
He moved down to strip your bottoms and panties off your legs, gently opening your thighs to see all of you.
“Such a beautiful pussy, my little star. I cannot wait to be inside you, but first you need to be ready.”
He gently circled two fingers around your clit, pleasure shooting up your spine.
“Javi— oh— I’m supposed to be taking care of you”
“I cannot imagine better care than being permitted to touch your body.”
He slowly pushed his fingers inside you, continuing to circle your clit with his thumb. You were getting close and he could tell, feeling you pulsing around him.
“Cum for me little star, let me see you.”
He kissed you as you fell apart, swallowing your moans. He removed his fingers once you stopped shaking from your release, using them to spread your slick on his cock.
He pushed into you, slowly spreading you open for him. You could tell he was holding back, letting you adjust to his size.
“Javi, I’m good. Please move, take what you need from me.”
With that permission he rocked into you, keeping a slow pace but hitting deep within you.
“You are so tight around me, star, so— so warm and— fuck— I can’t—“
Javi was babbling, losing any ability to form actual thoughts. Exactly what you hoped for.
He buried his face in your neck, surrounding himself in you. You wrapped your arms around him, one hand clinging to his shoulder, the other carding through his curls and lightly scratching his scalp, soothing him even more.
You weren’t sure if he had been fucking you for hours or minutes, but you knew you didn’t ever want it to end. Javi was getting close though, his thrusts becoming more erratic.
He untangled himself from you enough to move a hand down the front of your body, circling your clit quickly to bring you to the edge with him.
“Give me another little star, I need you to cum for me so I can fill you up.”
A few more thrusts had you tightening around him, orgasm wracking through you and pulling him over the cliff with you.
You felt his cum painting your walls as you recovered from your high, both of you trembling with aftershocks.
Tumblr media
Neither of you spoke for a while, just enjoying the calm.
Eventually Javi gently pulled out of you and went to the bathroom to grab a warm washcloth to clean you both up, then joined you again in bed.
You laid on your side, Javi laying down to face you, pulling you close to him and wrapping his arms around you.
“Feeling better?” You asked, hand finding its way to his face again.
He placed his hand on yours, turning his face to kiss your palm.
“Very much. I’m so happy you were here.”
“I’m always here, Javi.”
“What happens now? I don’t think I can keep paying you if we are sleeping together.”
You breathed out a laugh, knowing he was right.
“I’m not sure. I can look for another job, but I’ll still be here when you need me.”
He gave you those puppy dog eyes, dismayed at the idea of you being away from him even for a second.
“I have plenty to support you, my star. You don’t need to work. Just let me care for you.”
You pretended to consider it for a moment.
“Okay. If you let me continue helping you with some business stuff so I don’t go crazy, I’m all yours.”
“Promise?”
“Cross my heart.”

Making the Case for Elucien’s Book Already Having Been in the Works
The link to SJM’s Live Talks LA with Eva Chen is linked below and takes place after the release of ACOSF but here are some of the important take aways:
Do you have a book planned for the other sister? (referring to Elain)
24:50 - “Yes, to everything.  As soon as Nesta and Elain came back on the page in ACOMAF, I knew they would have journey's beyond what the reader was seeing.”
27:55 - “each book is a standalone that features it's own couple”
28:50 - Writing ACOWAR but finishing up ACOMAF - she told her editor  "what plans I had for Elain"
29:50 - "because this is where I wanted it go it allowed me to plant things for her journey and even Elain's journey early on"
30:48 - "I always try to keep one eye on the horizon when I'm writing just to make sure in the book I'm working on, I can set up for things later on. So there's lot of little secrets in SF that set up for later.” (this entire line of responses was based around having set up Nesta and ELAIN’s journey so it’s safe to say that some of the secrets she’s referring to in SF are in reference to Elain.  E/riels always use Elain and Az’s Bonus Chapter as proof of endgame and that Elain is Az’s secret but SJM is talking about secrets she’s left for the reader to find.  Nesta claiming “Az’s secret to tell” is not a secret to the reader at all.  Secrets are.....why Nesta placed the carving of the rose made for Elain next to a goddess figure.  Secrets are....hinting that Spring was MADE for someone like Elain.  Secrets are....placing both Lucien and Elain in Spring in future books as well as hinting that they’ll both end up traveling to the continent where Koschei is.  Secrets are the hints that someone other than Rhys may be High King and Lucien is showing the first markers of becoming a High Lord.  Secrets are what the real reason for Elain’s stealth like behaviors might be.
33:13 - "basically I want to go everywhere except the Spring Court because Tamlin sucks.  But I love the Spring.  That's my problem.  Some of the seasons I adore but the people who run the courts are like giant douchebags.
50:00 - (talking about Silver Flames) We sent it off to the printer this past fall.
57:00 - Are there any iconic couples in pop culture of history or movies that you "stan", that might have been inspiring for any of the couples in any of your.....
57:36 - I don't think I was inspired by any of the couples but during the pandemic I’d done a bunch of rereading of Pride and Prejudice and listened to it and watched that BBC adaptation but Elizabeth and Darcy are......I can't get enough of their sexual tension.
58:40 - They have just as much sexual chemistry and tension as any graphically described relationship
58:50 - I have spent a lot of time imagining what the Darcy / Elizabeth wedding night would be like.
59:20 - I've spent a lot of time thinking about Pride and Prejudice lately. Elizabeth and Darcy and their relationship and what he does for her by the end of that book and how she evolves and changes by the end of the book.  I mean they both change and evolve and that's what I love most about their story, they're still very much themselves by the end of that book but they develop an understanding of each other and they've also grown because of each other and grown because of confronting each other.
After the last comment at 59:20, SJM then brings it back to Nesta and Cassian saying “and Nesta and Cassian I’m not going to be arrogant enough saying they’re just like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy because they’re different stories but that’s the kind of relationship I like to write about.
.......But, Silver Flames had already been released and at 59:20, she said that she’s been spending a lot of time thinking about Pride and Prejudice lately.  So to me, she’s not thinking about P&P because of Nessian since their story had already been told and theirs was definitely a graphically described romance.  She then says Nesta and Cassian are maybe a reverse P&P where she’s more like Mr. Darcy and he’s more like Elizabeth but to me they don’t give off P & P vibes.  Sure, Nesta had stubbornness but it was more about her own self hatred.  Elizabeth and Darcy’s issues arose because of the first impressions they had about the other person which is very similar to the way Elain and Lucien found out they were Mates, it set the tone for their entire relationship so far (not to mention Lucien initially felt humans were inferior to the Fae in ACOTAR as Darcy struggled with Elizabeth’s “lesser” class).  There also wasn’t a lot of sexual tension in Nessian’s book considering the sex played a large role very early on and they lack the propriety that Elizabeth and Darcy did.
There is no other SJM couple that embodies Pride and Prejudice more thoroughly than Elain and Lucien, two characters who need to learn to “confront one another” and I can't imagine why she would have repeatedly been reading / watching / listening to it unless she was channeling Elucien.
Azriel may be broody but his thoughts are extremely graphic in nature and he's violent (not at all Darcy like).  There’s also no way for him to still be "very much himself" by the end of his book and end up a match for Elain. SJM likes her characters to grow but not be unrecognizable.
In the same interview she spoke of hints for Elain’s journey, she calls Tamlin a douchebag so I highly doubt she’s building towards a Tamlain ship.

I am a huge fan of romance movies and I know that I already had a big post about all the reasons Beth and Daryl were written as a romantic pair, but I would like to talk about 4 big scenes with tropes commonly seen in romance movies that involve Beth and Daryl. My goal here is to show it is not really the audience viewing it as romantic, but the writers and directors making it that way. Keep in mind, acting, directing, writing, and costumes are all intentional.
1. The very first hug in 30 Days Without An Accident. This scene would not have been romantic if all it was was the hug. There is added sexual tension because of what happens when Beth pulls away from the hug and they're standing inches from each other - her sleeve has fallen off her shoulder. She gives him elevator eyes, and Daryl actually leans his head closer to hers. She then pulls the sleeve back on her shoulder and the scene ends. The first movie that comes to mind with this trope isn't a romance at all, but it comes to mind because the shoulder was heavily emphasized and that is The Secret Window with Johnny Depp. There is a scene that implies the ex wife is still attracted to him while they're at some lawyer's office, and the camera focuses on the ex wife's shoulder as her sleeve falls off and then Johnny's character stares at it. This whole trope adds tension where there otherwise wouldn't be. It emphasizes an erogenous zone. At this point in TWD, Daryl and Beth never really interacted prior. If they weren't going anywhere with those two, they wouldn't have had the "It's a damn romance novel" line foreshadowing their arc, nor would they have had Daryl break the news about Zach's death to Beth - Glenn would have told her instead.
2. The next romantic cliche is in Alone, when Beth and Daryl find the walker bodies that have been embalmed to look human again. Daryl cracks a joke and says "Looks like someone ran out of dolls to dress up" and Beth says "It's beautiful." Initially Daryl makes a face and looks at the walkers and kind of looks grossed out and confused. But as Beth continues talking, his face softens and he leans back on the door frame and gazes at her She says "they remembered these things were people before all this. They didn't let it change them in the end. Don't you think that's beautiful?" Then he and Beth just watch each other for 5 seconds and he begins to patch up her foot. Daryl is staring at the floor until Beth asks if it's beautiful, when he starts looking at her, silently. Soft music is playing in the background. It is a common cliche in romance movies where the female character asks if something is beautiful to the male lead, or says something is beautiful and he agrees while staring at her. The stare always implies that what the male lead is finding beautiful is the female lead. The silence and eye acting speaks louder than anything. With these two, I find the most romance is in the things left unsaid.
3. We all know the bridal carry trope, but I want to talk about this a bit further. Yes, Daryl bridal carries Beth following her death, and bridal carries Judith following her injury. Both those bridal carries were callbacks to Beth. Beth's death bridal carry alludes to the happier first one, and Judith's injury carry alludes to Daryl carrying Beth out of Grady. But the first bridal carry is different, because Daryl truly had no other reason to do it beyond pure excitement. Yes, Beth was injured in the beginning of Alone when she stepped into the bear trap, but he doesn't carry her into the dining room because she is injured, he carries her because he is just so excited to show her the redneck lunch he set up for her. We know this because the scene starts from inside the empty dining room, and Daryl and Beth are heard from outside the door. Beth is heard saying "I'm going as fast as I can," implying Daryl is rushing her, and Daryl replies "Forget that" and he picks her up and bursts into the door.
4. The last trope is the self realizing love confession. Beth asked Daryl what changed his mind as to good people still existing, and he is too nervous to say she did. The eyes say it all, and Beth's "oh" as she realizes for herself the meaning behind Daryl's reluctance to speak and her smile fades while staring at him, and him her. We know it is not as simple as Daryl thinking Beth is a good person - I really don't see why that being it would surprise her so much, considering she told him that he is a good person for wanting to leave most of the food stash for whoever lives there. Everything in the scene, that is deliberate, from the acting to the soft music to the romantic lighting all implies deeper meaning to Daryl's feelings at a minimum. The confession also follows the interrupted love confession trope, considering we don't get Beth's response as she is kidnapped before anything can happen.
Bonus:
1) Flirty teasing. This is not specific to one scene, nor is it romantic in itself. Daryl and Beth have some teasing around them from the "It's a damn romance novel" line, to Daryl digging into the pig's feet to gross Beth out, to the "Well there ain't no jukebox" line, to the Beth mocking Daryl's mumbles at the love confession scene. I think this teasing is romantic when you sum the parts.
2) Daryl's guard is down. When the dog first comes to the funeral home, the camera emphasizes Daryl checking outside before opening the door. Following the dinner and the silent confession, Daryl's guard is so down that he opens the door without checking first.
I have never seen past Carl's death, so I do not know how Daryl interacts with Connie, or if there is anything similar between the two of them behind teasing that could be interpreted as flirtatious. I do know that Daryl and Carol are canonically best friends, considering Daryl blatantly tells her she is his best friend and they joke about friendship bracelets. I used to ship Daryl and Carol until the beginning of season 4 when they first interacted and I could just tell that friendship was not going the romantic route. Those are things I've wanted to talk about. With Beth and Daryl, all I want is closure for what those feelings were, considering he never talks about it after her death, nor before.

RobStar Week 2023, Day 5 - Movie Night
(Short and sweet and cute.)
---
Robin pinched his eyes down at the cover of the DVD and then let them flick up at his girlfriend.
"Are you sure?" he asked. "Last time we tried watching this series it was a bit, uh..."
Starfire tucked Wicked Scary 4 against her chest. "Harrowing, I know," she finished for him. "Because of Raven's powers going haywire. But Raven is not here right now and I have read the reviews and people are much agreed that this is the best one yet. Besides," she added, turning the case around and pointing to one of the back cover insert images, "this one has my favorite Earth actress and I am curious to see how she does outside of her usual body of lighthearted romantic comedy work."
Robin bit his lip, but couldn't really deny her logic. Still, he pulled out his T-communicator and double-checked the position of Raven's tracker.
"I have already forewarned her that we would be watching it," Starfire told him. "She has promised to stay downtown until given the all-clear."
Sheepishly, Robin stowed his comm again. "You should have led with that," he joked.
"Perhaps I should have," she agreed with a chuckle. "Should Raven be offended by your apparent skittishness?" she teased.
Robin shuddered. "Just not keen on having slimy cold mentally projected tentacles dragging me into a wall again," he said. In the immediate aftermath of the incident he had played calm, collected leader, but he couldn't deny the events had still kind of creeped him out. A little.
Grinning, Starfire held out the case to him.
"I shall begin making the popcorn if you will set the movie up," she offered.
He took it in his hands and passed on her left, as she headed for the kitchenette area and began opening cupboards.
***
Forty-five minutes in found them shoulder-to-shoulder, laying on their stomachs on the floor, popcorn bowl forgotten to the side as they stared, enraptured, by the flickering blue screen of the TV.
After a long moment of tension the speakers popped with a loud noise, in tandem with an intense jump scare that happened in the film.
Both teens shrieked and grabbed the edge of the blanket draping their backs, flinging it over their heads to hide.
After a moment, hearts pounding, their eyes met.
Tension broken, they laughed, adrenaline rush inside them turning happy rather than frightened.
"That was rather silly of us," Starfire commented.
"It was a good scare," Robin countered, peeking out through the gap to check and confirm that, yes, they were in another harrowing chase scene now. "My heart's still racing."
She nudged him in the shoulder. "Are you sure that is not due to the pleasant company you are keeping?" she asked with a cheeky wink.
He laughed shortly, blushing and ducking his eyes. "Company is nice," he mumbled. He reached over and set a hand on her waist, tugging her closer.
She happily snuggled into him, leaning her head against his ear.
They sat there in contentment for a moment, before Robin lifted the edge of the blanket, sneaking his hand for the popcorn bowl. "So what's the assessment so far? Does Darsha Williams deliver?" He was vaguely familiar with the actress from some of Starfire's other favorite movies; she usually played much whackier than the role she'd been cast in now.
Starfire hummed thoughtfully. "Her expressions are a little bit exaggerated," she decided, "but she does appear to have the range. I was not sure I would believe her performance but she is making for a very credible Final Girl."
Robin popped a few kernels into his mouth, both of them lingering under the cover of the blanket, choosing to talk for a moment instead of watch. "They've definitely cleaned up the camerawork," he said. "Shakeycam in the original was a bit hard to parse sometimes."
"And I believe the monster may have a new leitmotif."
He sidled a look at her. "Since when do you know about musical leitmotifs?" he teased.
It was her turn to look away bashfully. "I have been doing the binging of videos on YouTube." Her own hand darted out from under the blanket to capture a handful of popcorn. "Tamaranian musical composition has some things surprisingly in common with specific genres and styles of Earth music."
"Remind me to let you take me down that rabbit hole sometime." He drew up the blanket corner on his side, checking the movie. "Okay, I think the chase is over now, we good?"
She nodded. "We are good."
He stretched the blanket back over their heads to uncover them, sliding his hand comfortably into hers, entwining fingers. He pressed a kiss into her hair and then settled in again, their sides flush against each other's as they returned to their viewing.
