I’ve watched “MoominValley” season 1 episode 3. I cried at the very beginning and then again at the end because I love Snufkin so much! (I’m trying to get used to English names since I’m used to how they were in Soviet translation, which means almost with no translation at all, so he’s forever Snusmumrik for me). The plot of this episode is from one of the later Moomins books – “Tales from Moominvalley” – it’s about the little dragon. However, even though, I don’t remember it very well, I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t that light and didn’t end that sweet. Later books are generally much more adult and depressing than the early ones. Here everything is as bright as it can be: Moomintroll waits for Snufkin to arrive and accidentally catches a little dragon. (Spoilers!) He wants to train it and be its master. He also wants it to be his and Snufkin’s only secret. When Snufkin finally arrives, he brags with the dragon and they go for a walk, but Moomintroll surely can’t manage the little beast, so, they decide to free it, but it suddenly decides that Snufkin is his master and Moomintroll feels bad and envious about it. So, Snufkin, to care about his dear friend (and because he doesn’t want a dragon) gives it away to a Hemul floating by on a boat and tells the Moomin that the creature just left. Their friendship is so sweet! (And yes, I know that many people ship them and I have nothing against it, for now, I’m not into it and no, it’s not because I had a crush on Snufkin when I was a child and now I’m jealous.)

i was just so used to his name as snufkin (at le internet, snufkin is definitely used more than snusmumrik) that seeing the book refer to him as snusmumrik had me rereading every page that had the name. (if anyone's curious the books are russian)
