Allow me to explain why these 5 in particular are in a zoom call together:

skekOk is in charge of rounding up the outsider Skeksis to fight the Gelfling Resistance. He was not prepared to be so easily roasted like the expired Thanksgiving turkey he is.

skekEkt was there because he knew this would result in drama but he didn’t expect the argument to take such a dark turn.

skekLi doesn’t want anything to do with these assholes but answered the call anyway because he also knew there would be a fight and he needed some form of entertainment after sulking alone in the Wilderness for so long.

Despite being blocked skekGra managed to hack into the call to spy on Skeksis conversations for the Gelfling. Everyone but the Mariner was too stupid to realize the random icon wasn’t a glitch until he blew his cover by laughing hysterically because of course he did.

skekSa also answered just to see what would happen and since this is before she turned on the Gelfling herself she doesn’t give a flying fuck about the Emperor’s orders and knows exactly how to get these castle-dwelling bastards to leave her alone.

SkekEkt: Yes! I think they all should be bigger.

Holy moly I had cramps after that one! This one is inspired of the one and only SkekLa from deviantart! I seriously can't even be close to copy her drawing style! (Please commission her. She is so fucking talented!)

This prompt is: The uneasy ally. SkekSyn is a goody two-shoes since he is not a split Urkskeks, like his brethren. So dude has a good parts on him. It was mostly concerning for the Skeksis that he showed compassion towards lower forms. SkekLach came up with the idea to teach him to be morally incorrect. Of course she couldn't push him to kill someone. But takes some slow steps towards it. Like stealing cookies from an old man (SkekOk) She finds it the most amusing to cause trouble with the small skeksis. Of course SkekSyn wasn't happy with her ideas, but cookies are cookies.

Skektember 9 : the one they hate

In the Natives AU, SkekShod and SkekLi spent at some point a drunken night of passion together. No love or anything, just 2 drunk guys fucking. SkekLi left arter his semo punishment, SkekShod stayed... but, afraid that SkekSo who had him in his bad graces and had bashed him on his head would do worse to ruin his life, the next time SkekLi visited he shoved in his arms an egg/a baby (depensing out own takes, @dracocheesecake sees the Skeks are oviparian while I don't lol sub AUs) to bring with him to protect them as much as it pained him. His ! SkekLi was absolutely not ready or responsible enough for that, ESPECIALLY since he had already gotten SkekLach pregnant before after just a one night stand during mating season, WHY did it keep happening to him !? Not seeing how he could rise a Skekling while being a semi-banished wandering artist, he gave them to an old friend and former crush/booty call : UrLii. UrLii was NOT ready either but couldn't just abandon a baby so had no choice but accept. He named them SkekMi (belong to Draco). He raised her like an UrRu, teaching her their ways and protecting her from racist remarks from other UrRu who did not lile to see a Skekling playing with their Urrlings. SkekLi would sometimes visit, but more like an irresponsible uncle than as a father staying just for the fun part of parenting and leaving when it becomes hard, to both UrLii's annoyance and SkekMi's disappointment. But she got used to it

Though one day as a teenager she asked him who her mother was. Li didn't lie, it was the Treasurer, SkekShod. SkekMi asked him one to bring her with him to meet him, which he accepted (only because he was going there already). SkekShod was absolutely emotional. She has grown so much, she was healthy, she was beautiful !... ok she was intoxicated with Mystic way of life but she was alive and well and that was all that matteted. SkekMi can't visit all the time, looking too UrRu for her sake in such an Urruphobic town, but she does try to visit her newfound family to catch up Only issue is... SkekShod, some time after having given her to SkekLi, had fallen in love with SkekOk and they mated off and had 2 children together (with whom she is neutral with. Awkward together). SkekOk not only was appalled he never told him such a secret feeling like he didn't trust him after all these years, he also found out he had a child with SOMEONE ELSE EVEN IF IT WERE BEFORE HIM, RIVALLING HIS OWN LEGETIMATE BABIES ?! SkekOk got a hate at first sight with the teen which soon became mutual. The cliché evil stepfather who mocks her looks, calls her ugly, compares her to HIS perfect children, reminds her whenever he can that Shod abandonned her while he didn't abandon the others which proves she means nothing to him so she could perfectly just never visit again... she knows those are all lies but it hurts, and it makes her wish to retort back. But she can't. He is a courtier and he could rat on a Skeksis raised by the enemy anytime. He doesn't just for his mate... for now

Holding a Princess hostage

(We see the Castle of the Crystal for a moment, we then cut to the back of skekOk) skekOk: So, Princess Brea...I have you in my clutches, to have my way with you...the way I want to! (The camera pans to show a helpless Brea before him) Brea: No, no please, leave me alone! skekOk: No, you are mine! (Out of the blue, Kylan, accompanied by Naia and Amri, enters the scene, holding a sword) Kylan: Not so fast, Scroll-Keeper! skekOk: The son of Mera! Kylan: That’s right, I’m here to save my girlfriend! (Turns to the captured Brea) Hi, honey! skekOk: Now, you are going to die. (skekOk claws Kylan, causing him to faint) Naia: Hey, what’d you do to my friend? skekOk: The same thing I’m about to do to you, Drenchen! (He knocks her out before turning to Amri) And you too! (As the Skeksis managed to defeat the invading Gelfling, he turns back to Brea) skekOk: So, Princess Brea...at last we are alone. Brea: (Pants desperately) I hate you, I hate you, leave me alone! Yet...I find you strangely attractive. skekOk: Of course you do! Vapran Princesses are often attracted to knowledge and power, and I have both and you know it!  Brea: Oh leave me alone. skekOk: No, kiss me! Brea: No, no! skekOk: Yes! Brea: No! (He rushes to Brea and the two struggle for a brief moment before the Princess calms down) Brea: Your glasses are so big... (The two embrace and kiss....the scene then fades to the Castle library where we see skekOk playing with a figure of himself and Brea) skekEkt: (Suddenly bursting through the door) Scroll-Keeper! skekOk: (Quickly grabbing all his toys and hiding them in his claws) WHAT?! skekEkt: We gotta attend to the Crystal Chamber! skekOk: Knock on my door, knock next time! skekEkt: Alright, Scroll-Keeper! skekOk:...Did you see anything? skekEkt: No, Scroll-Keeper, I didn’t see you playing with your dolls again! skekOk: Good!

Something I really like about the Collector is that no matter the reality, They’re always friends with the Scroll-Keeper on some level. The manga? Pretty decent friends. (SkekOk even calls Chamberlain cringe after he complains about him.) YA Novels? They freaking get drunk on Spriton wine together during a census and they’re just goofballs who love laughing together. AoR? …You already know my feelings about them being an old married couple, But from a PURELY CANON standpoint, having it essentially confirmed by the writers and puppeteers at the con telling me that they were best friends before Lach died, it just makes me happy. It’s very rare for the skeksis to be friends with other skeksis in a purely non-selfish way where there’s nothing to gain.

I just think she’s neat and it’s cool to have at least 1 trait shared throughout all her versions.

After the Dark Crystal Bestiary and Songs of the Seven Gelfling Clans, the next book that should be made is a guide to the Lords of the Castle. Information about the Skeksis for the discerning fan.

Skektember 2 : the sworn enemy

In the Natives AU, SkekShod studied hard to one day become not just a treasurer but THE treasurer, the one who work for the imperial court itself. But he had a rival, another candidate just as talented as him, SkekCorp. A harsh rivalry bloomed between the 2 young Skeksis. SkekShod might be sassy, with SkekCorp the roles reversed with the latter always find a smug way to enrage the former and make him lose his cool. In fact, SkekCorp was even starting to become better than him. And if it were not for a broken heart that sent him into an existencial crisis and depression and caused him to run away from the capital not to face their unrequited love again in pure shame after being rejected by her, he would have become the treasurer. He still became one for King SkekYi in her court in the 2nd biggest Skeksis town of the empire, known as SkekCorp the Treasurer, and his talents are greatly appreciated. But whenever a diplomatic meetibg requires one or the other to travel to one or another's town, they can never stay cordial too long. Oh does Corp love annoying that Shod and remind him of his failures such as failing to stay on the Emperor's good side which resulted into brain damage and a hard time to open it like before, how saaad~

Also added confused lil SkekOk and SkekLach in to fill in the space and out of curiosity about wtf these 2 dumbasses have going on. Also because I ship SkekOk woth SkekShod, SkekLach being his bestie is never far and she is the old flame SkekCorp NEVER moved on from

Underrated Ship Entry: SkekOk X SkekLach

For my underrated ship entry for the Dark Crystal Week Challenge I chose SkekOk and SkekLach. I’ve decided to write a short songfic for them to the song Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars with a couple changes to the words to fit them. I was inspired to do this short song fic based on SkekLach’s insecurities about his appearance.

Oh, his eyes, his eyes

Make the stars look like they’re not shinin’

His hair, his hair

Falls perfectly without him tryin’

He’s so beautiful and I tell him every day

SkekOk and SkekLach were in the steam spa together when SkekLach started to reminisce about the days when all the Skeksis were younger and more beautiful then they were now as he exclaimed “Oh SkekOk I miss the days when I was young and beautiful.” Causing the Scroll Keeper to look the Collector’s way and say since they were alone “You are still beautiful SkekLach. You’re just overthinking it.” However, the Collector said with a saddened tone “No I’m not! I’m hideous! Just take a look at me SkekOk!”

Yeah I know, I know

When I compliment him he won’t believe me

And it’s so, it’s so

Sad to think that he don’t see what I see

But every time he asks me, “Do I look okay?”

I say

“Do I really look ok to you?” SkekLach cried as SkekOk stated feeling sympathy for his crush “Yes SkekLach! You are perfect just the way you are. Unfortunately since we live for so long we were bound to age at some point.” “Trust me SkekLach I too miss the days when we all had better appearances. But that doesn’t mean that you’re not still an amazing Skeksis because you are nonetheless.”

This cheers up the Collector slightly as he says feeling a bit better “Do you really think so SkekOk?” Making the Scroll Keeper smile knowing that the Collector was starting to cheer up about his insecurities as he replied as they both got out of the baths and began to dry off “Yes SkekLach I do, you’re a wonderful Skeksis no matter how you look.” After they put their robes back on SkekLach actually hugged the Scroll Keeper as he said “Thank you SkekOk, I owe you one.” To which he answered “You’re welcome SkekLach. I hate to see you so upset like this.” This made SkekLach smile as they started to walk away from the steam spa.

The whole world stops and stares for a while

Just the way you are

Yeah

This made SkekOk smile as well since he was glad to have helped his crush feel at least a little better about himself.
