Sirius Black, who would jokingly suggest that Remus date some girl, then have no idea why he's so mad when Remus follows his advice.
Remus Lupin, who would date whatever girl Sirius's suggested, but be looking at Sirius the whole time.
James Potter. who would bang his head against the wall watching this occur.

What if I said that Sirius got Reggie one of those lockable diaries when they were 12 and 10 respectively - and Reg would wear one of the two keys around his neck.
And what if I said that he even after he filled the diary and had no need for the key, it stayed around his neck. As a reminder of the safety Sirius had given him.
What if I said that when Si ran away, he found a small key in the bottom of his bag with a note: "you're the only one I'd trust with my secrets".
And what if I said that no one but the Black Brothers ever figured out why the pair had matching key necklaces even when they were separated.
What then.

Walburga: You disgrace! You are a shame to the House of Black!
Sirius: I've been called worse.
Walburga, curious: Like what?
Sirius, solemnly: Your son
Walburga:....
Walburga: Get out

Sirius Black headcanon
One day when Sirius was at the potters, he broke something by mistake and he fell to the floor crying and begging not to be punished. James was confused but Mrs and mr potter understand straight away. Mrs potter got on the floor next to Sirius, held him and said "accidents happen and we will never punishment you just because you broke something" Sirius looked at her and started crying even more.
That's when he realised he was home.

The marauders + Regulus (mostly Regulus and Remus) as kent lyrics:
(I will mostly be directly translating them from Swedish, so the syntax might not make a lot of sense)
A pessimist in its life form. I despise blood, because it smells like sorrow. - Reggie and Remus
An aliens love thirst, a wonder of who let who down first? - literally everyone (probably not the alien part tho)
And I’ll gladly become a martyr, we probably need a new one anyway - Regulus, but also everyone (other then Peter but it could still work from his own twisted perspective)
A middle finger at death - everyone
And we aren’t going any further, we’re back to zero, but no one’s gonna mourn. We’ve played out all our roles, let’s forget about the whole shit, it doesn’t mean anything because we would’ve gotten further but it wasn’t enough. - everyone, once they realized that the whole first war was pointless and that Dumblewhore was a manipulative cunt who used them.
(This was all just from one song, it’s called Dom Andra [or The Others])
I was alone for a long time, an only child, the monster underneath a home built bunkbed - Remus (I want to hug him)
Give me a winter drug, give me all you’ve got. Come now I’m chronically low, the only thing that can be heard is the darkness - Remus after Halloween 1981 begging for Sirius to be innocent
In your eyes there was a storm I saw, like summer snow, from the dead angle/blind spot I see everything you do - Regulus’ ghost watching Sirius fuck up his entire life, eternally destined to facepalm so hard and so much that he would break his skull if he could.
And there they’re coming, I can see them between the trees. Please can you help me escape? - Regulus to Sirius and Sirius to James
(These lyrics are from Den Döda Vinklen [The Dead Angle], this could be a reference to the whole album it’s from being through the perspective of death or it could also be a reference to the blind spot in a car)
And everyone who’s ever loved you has hated me out of fear - wolfstar (this was somehow the only lyric from Palace & Main that worked and I don’t know how)
An icey wind over the water bears an echo from the world of the dead, a greeting from a jealously scornful ocean - Reggie, obviously (for like the fiftieth time because the whole Du & Jag Döden [You & Me Death] album is just incredibly Regulus coded)
And in the bars the wreaks cling tight we mourn a lost burden and the snow helps the debris fall down. Black branches obscure the white of the house, I haven’t been here since all of this was yours. - Remus talking to an imaginary version of Sirius after the first war ended.
Like a Romeo in jeans on your balcony (I want you, you’re mine, you’re only mine) I’m the shadow by your screen door once again (I want to have you, I’m yours, I’m only yours) - Sirius to Remus, either immediately after he escaped from prison or a bit after the prank (I like the first option much more because I don’t like the idea of the prank ever happening)
And your dress is like rags in my hands- Sirius when he found Lily
(All of the most recent lyrics are from Romeo Återvänder Ensam [Romeo Returns Alone])
And you and I hold our breath and hold hands in the leap, it’s not that long till we reach home, and even so there’s still a thousand tears left - Sirius and Regulus while running away together (I might be a bit delulu)
So don’t ever apologize again. And we’re finally passing their borders. Do you remember our blood oath, our law? Our idiotic crusade against an equally stupid town? I remember everything like nails to glass, but you just laugh at me and reduce everything to a joke, but I see in your pathetic demeanor and your hunting look that it feels like there’s still far to go to get home, and soon there won’t be any more tears left - also Sirius and Regulus running away together
And that boy I never knew, that roamed streets I never saw, thought thoughts I never thought, under a thin and frizzy haircut, as all the feelings struck and exploded during a time when nothing happened in a city that never slept, but we were all young once my love. Yes, we were all young once. Yes, we were all young once - Remus, Sirius and Regulus
And I’m scared out of my own life of living and I’m scared to death of dying, but we will all die one day my love. Yes, we will all die one day - Regulus and James
(These past lyrics are from Mannen I Den Vita Hatten (16 År Senare) [The Man In The White Hat (16 Years Later)].)
And your old friend waits with the scythe in a swing and how you played when you were kids - Sirius when Bellatrix killed him because no matter what she did or how much he tried to deny it, she was still his cousin Trixie who he played with when they were kids and he still had somewhat loving memories of that, of her.
The sleep came and you were so right in time, the sleep came like tears against your screen, the sleep came like a right twisted opinion, but compared to dollars and yen death can easily become a joke - literally everyone
You’ve lost your war, you’re the last one left, and no one is coming to your defense (coming to your defense) so you stand in a salute with your back straight and you take 400 hits - Regulus realizing that no matter what he does he will never be good enough for his parents and that he should have just left with Sirius when he asked.

Which is tastier?
Sirius didn't kill anyone and was falsely imprisoned for 12 years and died on the run.
Sirius killed at least the 13 Muggles (and maybe more people!) and has to live with the consequences of his actions.
Yeah honestly it's always going to be the first one.
The canon storyline Sirius actually got is way more tragic than anything fanon can come up with lmao.
Sometimes when I am sad, I think about Sirius sitting in Azkaban in those early days, convinced that Remus and Dumbledore are doing all they can to get him out. He just has to hang on for a few days....a few weeks....
I wonder how long it takes him to realize that no one is actually coming for him, that even the people who claimed to care about him the most believe that he actually betrayed James, and that he's never getting out of this horrible torture prison.
Anyway, I think about it and it makes me sadder, lol.

coffee shop au - @wolfstarmicrofic - word count: 429
“Fuck,” Sirius murmured, grabbing a rag to wipe at the coffee slowly seeping down the counter towards the very angry-looking customer.
“Is it possible to be slightly competent at making a drink?” the old man seethed. “Have you seen a coffee before? Ever used a coffee machine?”
Normally Sirius would have come up with a decent comeback. Found a way to make the old man falter while still maintaining a perfect customer-service smile. But today had been hard and he was still new to this. He’d had to take the job to make ends meet after running away, after all, and his ego was still slightly bruised that he’d gone from paying twenty euro for a coffee to making half of that per hour to pour them.
“Apologies,” he mumbled, not meeting the old man’s eyes. “Give me a moment to-”
But before he could finish, the customer behind the angry man in line cleared his throat. “If I were you,” he said, addressing the old man, “I would mind my business about being competent. Unless it’s the new style to wear your shirt inside-out.”
The old man, turning a bright red, looked down to see that, indeed, the hem of his shirt was facing outward. “It’s none of your fucking b-” he started in toward the other customer, looking livid.
“It is when you’re acting like an arse. Go fix your shirt, you look ridiculous,” the customer replied, rolling his eyes.
Furious, the old man stormed off, not even bothering to wait for his coffee.
Sirius, who had watched the whole exchange with rapt fascination, now had a clear view of the next customer. And he almost dropped the empty cup he was holding.
This customer was not old, nor was he angry-looking. He was Sirius’s age, and had brown eyes and wavy hair and tan skin that drew Sirius’s gaze in so many directions he had trouble deciding where to look. He reminded himself that staring with an open mouth was rude, but he was sorely tempted, because his savior was jarringly handsome, and suddenly his shitty day was looking a whole lot better.
“I- thank you,” Sirius muttered, trying to focus. “Erm…rough day.”
But the customer just smiled. “No problem. Nobody should be treated like that, yeah?”
Sirius could only nod. “What…what can I get for you?”
The customer smiled. “Medium iced coffee, cream and sugar.”
Trying to get back into the swing of things, Sirius turned, beginning to fill the cup.
“With your number on that cup, please.”
Crash.
Fuck. He dropped the cup again.

Sirius Black and The Cursed Habit
There was one thing that Sirius hated about himself more than anything. He could change his appearance, hide his aristocratic features, fight for the right cause, but there was one thing he couldn't change no matter how hard he tried. His handwriting. The way every letter was elegantly, perfectly curved. Every sentence put into a straight line. This was the only thing, beaten into him for several years, that followed him everywhere. Every time when he tried to bend, scrible and smudge words on a parchment, there was this voice screaming in this head. "You can't even write well? Pathetic. Looks like you're asking for another punishment." followed by a sickening smell of blood when he stabbed the quill inot his hand. This was the one thing from his "noble" heritage he couldn’t bring himself to abandon. And it hunted him every time he needed to pick up a pen.

Sirius clutches the handles of his motorbike harder. His heart races and his mind keeps wandering back to the empty house he had just left. The house Peter was supposed to be hiding in.
He feels ill as he speeds through the night sky, the only thing on his mind getting to Godric's Hollow as fast as possible. He needed to calm his nerves. It couldn't– It couldn't have happened, but he needed to be sure, to check. He was just going to drop by quickly, maybe give James a hug and Harry a kiss on the forehead because Merlin knows what would take for his hands to stop shaking. He grips the handles harder.
He looks at the night sky to get his mind off the destination, the constellations above him and the clouds surrounding him. Being able to recognise the stars and planets embroidered in the dark sky was not a skill he ever particularly liked, no matter how much wonder and amazement it instilled in his friends and peers. Constellations and planets just reminded him of the family he had run away from, but it was familiar, and it was mechanical. So Sirius starts naming all the stars he can recognise to calm the trembling in his hands and the shaking of his breath.
If he felt ill during the flight, the sight that meets him when he lands makes him want to bend over and vomit his late dinner all over the Potters' gate.
The Fidelius has fallen. The house is in ruins. James–
His legs seem to move all by themselves, he makes his way across the front garden in seconds and runs inside. Sirius' voice is stuck in his throat, he wants to scream and call out for his best friend but words aren't coming out. Is he too scared not to hear James call back?
He comes to a full stop in front of the stairs. A distinctive sting from the corner of his eyes and the back of his throat is the only thing that grounds him, because the sight of his best friend laying on the ground, eyes open and lifeless feels like something out of his worst nightmares. It can't be real, it can't.
But it is.
Sirius shakes as he frantically searches for James' pulse, but feels nothing. James' body is still warm.
The crying of a baby pierces through the silence of the night and Sirius thinks he has never been happier to hear that sound. Harry– Harry is alive?
With a shudder, he gets up and rushes to the source of the crying. He feels like vomiting all over again when he sees Lily's body on the floor, her bright green eyes now dull forever. She must still be warm, too.
What he didn't expect to see, though, was Rubeus Hagrid, Hogwarts' Keeper of the Keys, holding a crying Harry with both his big hands. He feels his stomach do a backflip, he needs to take Harry.
'Sirius–' Hagrid speaks, his voice full of emotion. 'I– So sorry–'
Other words attempting comfort must be coming out of his mouth but Sirius can't hear any of them. His eyes are fixed on Harry and how small he looks in Hagrid's hand.
'Hagrid,' he interrupts the half-Giant, 'Give Harry to me, Hagrid, I'm his Godfather, I'll look after him.' His hands twitch, he is desperate.
'Afraid I can' do that,' replies Hagrid and Sirius thinks his heart might have actually shrunken twice in size. 'Dumbledore said Harry was ter go ter his aunt an' uncle's.'
'Dumbledore is not–!' Sirius takes a shaking breath, trying to calm himself down lest he wants to end up yelling and escalating the situation. 'Dumbledore is not his guardian, I am, give him to me, Hagrid.'
'Dumbledore's word's law, yer know that,' Hagrid said simply and Sirius couldn't decide if he wanted to take Harry and make a run for it or take Harry and then blast Hagrid as far as he could. He decided neither would be wise.
'Where do you have to take him?' He changes his approach.
'Somewhere in Surrey, Little Whinging, I reckon.'
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
'Take– Take my motorcycle. Take it and bring Harry there safe.'
'Really?' asks Hagrid, amazed. 'Wouldn't yer need it?'
Sirius shakes his head. Dumbledore still thinks he was James and Lily's Secret Keeper. He is done for.
'I won't need it anymore. Just be sure Harry is safe, please.'
Hagrid gives him a sympathetic smile before patting his back with one of his large hands and leaving.
Sirius is still shaking when he hears the engine roar and the distinctive sound of his motorbike taking off. He makes his way down the stairs and crouches down in front of James' body.
'I'm so sorry, Prongs,' his voice trembles, 'I failed you again.'
He takes James' glasses off and closes his eyelids, the hazel pupils looking at him so devoid of life were making him feel sick. James was never going to look at him again.
Closing the front door, he sits down and takes his head into his hands, mind racing. James was gone, Lily was gone, and Harry was gone. Harry was gone. Dumbledore would do him in and lock him up in Azkaban. Would Azkaban really be that much worse than the stinging in his chest and the violent twists in his stomach at that moment?
He can't stop seeing Harry's tiny face, now adorned by a scar and still so fresh in his mind. They wouldn't let him near Harry. They had taken that from him, too.
The end, that is the end. There is nothing left to lose.
Sirius stands up and decides that he doesn't have it in himself to go with grace. He is going to track Peter down and make him pay, even if it kills him.
He's got nothing left to lose.

Nomad
Azkaban. Grimmauld Place. Those were places he'd lived but were never home.
The last time he'd felt at home was when he and Remus moved into their London flat after leaving Hogwarts. But when they'd revisited the home where they'd been so happy together, it was haunted by the Remus who'd lived there alone for so many years.
Walking through this empty house, with its airy rooms and view of the sea, Sirius felt like he was a nomad no more.
This was home.
The home he and Remus would share with each other, and with Harry. It was a new start, free from war, free from being a wanted man.
Remus came up behind him and slid his arms around his waist. Sirius leaned back against him.
Home.
