(requested by anonymous) Specter/Doc
“Hey.” The Doctor stirred as a familiar voice spoke in his ear. “Come on, just cuz you know I won’t punch ya doesn’t mean ya get off easy.”
“Specter? Oh heeeeey.” He wiped at his face, pulling away wetness and glassy rocks before opening his eyes to...what he could only guess was the aftermath of a bar fight.
The Abyss Hunter wiped some more blood and broken glass off, licking her hand afterwards. “Mm mm mm. Those assholes really did a number on ya, looks like.”
“‘Assholes?’ What’d we get into?” He rubbed the back of his exposed head. “I can’t remember shit.”
“That’s two of us, then. Must’ve been good, lookin’ at the sorry state they left ya in.” She, of course, was also covered in blood, but it was guaranteed it wasn’t hers.
The other lone survivor stood up to take in his surroundings better, and sure enough, they’d made a mess of the place. Broken glass, stools, and tables turning an open layout into a minefield; floor slick with spilled alcohol, smashed food, and of course plenty of blood; bodies in various states of dismemberment, most pooled in their own scarlet vein-soup. “Damn. How many ya think there were? Couple dozen?”
“Prob’ly. Ya feel like ya can walk? I’ll hold your hand all the way back to RI if I’ve gotta.” Specter smiled toothily. “Or if ya just want me to.”
“That even a question?” The Doctor leaned against her arm-first, slipping his hand onto her wrist so as not to interfere with her saw-holding (in case it came up).
Even with that little consideration, the shark-nun still kept it strapped behind her in order to hold his delicate, delicate hand. “Got your phone on ya?”
“Uh, yeah.” He pulled it out, checked the GPS and…“Where the hell are we?”
“Not near home?”
The Doctor chuckled. “You could say that ag- ekh!” He turned away from her to hack up a lung.
“Still got all your organs?” The Abyss Hunter checked the ground to be sure. “Looks like it. Let’s get out of here.”
“Yeah. Shit, where to, though? Don’t even have a compass reading.” He squinted at the diagram just to be sure, but nope, no pointers there.
Specter shrugged. “Straight. We’ll hit something one way or another.”
“That works.” He yawned. “Drag me wherever you want, Sharky.”
“Just stay awake, a’ight?” She could feel his heartbeat, which was fortunately still going, but not as fast as it usually did.
The ‘go straight’ plan was actually very easy to accomplish; occasionally, they had to pick a side, but to make it easier on the Doctor, the Abyss Hunter always went left so he could keep leaning heavily on her. Their path led them upwards, and the halls around them grew brighter and brighter until…“Oh! It’s Lungmen, Doc. We just went real deep in ‘er.”
“Great...I’ll call-”
“Nah, I got it.” ‘Sharky’ gently took the phone from him, found Skadi on the contact list, and waited for her to pick up. “Got drunk, smashed a bar, need a pickup. Thanks! Byeee. *click* That’ll do it.”
He squeezed her hand. “Thanks...I’m still bleeding somewhere, aren’t I?”
“Couple places. Not healin’ like ya thought ya would?...Wait, you don’t- Shit!” The Abyss Hunter wasn’t a healer, but-
“♪Hmmmm...♪Hmmmm...♪Hmmmm-mmmm...” The siren song of the orca was unmistakable as she slammed into the pavement in front of them a fair distance. “You let him get pretty beat up.”
The shark-nun growled. “Ya gonna give me shit for it or fix ‘im?”
“Fix him, obviously. ♪Hmmmm-mmm-mmmm hmmmm...” The wordless etude did reinvigorate him, letting him stand on his own after a minute or so.
“Thanks, Skadi.” The Doctor wrapped himself around Specter. “And thank youuuu for carrying me out.”
She kissed his forehead. “Still gotta get ya home, Doc.”
“Home’s wherever you are, anyway~”
“Regardless, Kal’tsit’s been looking for both of you, so we should get him back to Rhodes Island.” Skadi walked over to the Doctor’s other side. “Let’s go.”
He gave her a pointed look. “I can walk-”
“Not fast enough. Up for more walking, Shark?” The orca looked over her charge’s head.
“Ye, I’m good.” Specter took a step forward. “Let’s go.”
Outnumbered and far outmatched, the Doctor let himself be carried back to base; upon arriving, though, Skadi let go of him. “Have a good night.”
“You, too!...Is it just me, or was she jealous I hugged you?” He looked at Sharky curiously.
“Eh, who fucking cares?” She picked him up in a bridal carry now that he was healed enough to bend a bit. “You need a nap.”
What? “No I don’t.”
“Yeah ya do. Forgot you’re not made of sponge like me, so you’re gonna take your fixin’ meds, and I’m gonna make sure ya stay in bed. Get it?”
“Ohhh.” He smirked. “Got it.”
The Abyss Hunter squeezed him closer to her. “Ya better, because I’m not waitin’ on a fuckin’ Medic to okay ya to spend the night with me. ‘Specially not one of those other flirts I’ve seen make eyes at ya.”
