Tumblr media
June 1923, London, England
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seemed as if Wilhelmina and Jack’s party had awoken some sort of hedonist spirit within him. Any previous attempts he’d tried to make with his duties as a peer were forgotten—not that it mattered anyway, most people in the House of Lords disliked him regardless. The Ritz became his home base, splitting his time between the hotel and the house of various friends, both old and new.
Within three months, he was sure that he’d nearly tripled the number of people he’d had sex with, which Giselle and Francesca had mercilessly teased him about, but it had many advantages, and it seemed like with every new person he shared a bed, he received two invitations to social events, whether it be parties, dinners, soirees, etc. Being around people with similar tastes and interests also allowed him to find suggestions and people read the work he’d done in person, not just via letters, and by the middle of June, he felt that his translation and commentary of The Epic of Gilgamesh was good enough to be sent to the publishers and editors.
Tumblr media
Giselle, on the other hand, after months of slaving day and night in her sewing room as Francesca handled sales and customers, it seemed that their little boutique was taking off, and most women living in Central London were seen wearing some of her designs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shortly after opening one morning, a woman dressed finely walked into the shop, inquiring for a party dress. Francesca, who still setting up their latest model, looked surprised. No one came this early in the morning.
“Good morning, ma’am, how can I help you?”
“Um, is Miss Walsh in?”
“Oh, yes, she’ll be down in a moment or so.” She chuckled. “She likes to sleep in.”
The other woman smirked as she looked around. “A friend of a friend recommended this place, and I can see why now. These are lovely.”
Francesca beamed with pride.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giselle stepped out from her sewing studio, looking surprised that they already a had customer. “Oh, good morning, I hope you weren’t waiting long.”
“No, of course not. Miss Walsh?”
“That would be me.”
She sighed in relief. “Oh, thank you. I’m attending a party, and I was hoping to get a dress. I was told you do custom designs for customers.”
“Yes, um we can head back for measurements now if you wish, Ms…”
“Lady Lyton.”
Francesca’s eyes widened. The Countess of Lyton was their dress shop! Giselle looked less impressed, only giving Francesca a side glance. “Oh, I’m sorry, your ladyship, I wasn’t aware.” She turned to her partner. “There’s a countess in our dress shop.”
“We’ve had a duke.”
“Your brother doesn’t count.”
The Countess raised a brow. “Walsh… Your brother is the Duke of Feldsbury?”
Tumblr media
“Yes. Have you met him?”
“I first met him at a party two months ago—we are mutual friends with Mrs. Jack Porter. He’s a bit of a Casanova, but he's handsome, very intelligent, and makes delightful conversation.” She smirked. “My husband, on the other hand, finds him impertinent.”
Francesca snickered.
“That sounds like my brother. …He was forced to accept the title and its responsibilities when not even being aware of it until after the war, so he cares very little of what society thinks of him and will likely do everything in his power to dredge the name of the late duke.”
The Countess nodded. “Well, I never liked the late duke.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Well, back to your request, your ladyship. When is the party?” Giselle asked, grabbing her notepad and pencil.
“Four days from now.”
Giselle frowned. “And you want a custom dress?”
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry, but a custom design and pattern would at least take me two weeks, my lady.”
Lady Lyton sighed. “Oh. I see.”
“Well,” Francesca interrupted, gesturing to the dress she’d just set up, “I saw you admiring this, and Miss Walsh only finished it yesterday. There is no other dress like it, and tailoring at most only takes a few days if we do measurements now.”
Giselle nodded eagerly. “Yes, and if you wish, I could add some extra embellishments if desired, and it could be ready to be picked up the morning of your party.”
The Countess looked impressed. “You ladies know how to work a deal.” She glanced at the dress. “I will be telling everyone I know about the Duke of Feldbury’s sister and her delightfully modern dress shop.”
Giselle and Francesca couldn’t help but beam.

Following on from the simple modesty of the 1300s, female hair in the 1400s became a lot more elaborate thanks to the addition of hair pieces, ribbon and other decorations. Braided styles evolved into very detailed and decorative concoctions. Styles also became more flowy and romantic, often with curls framing the face. CC links under the cut.

Antiquated Brindleton
An 1890s Decades Challenge Save File
This save has been almost a year in the making, but it's finally here! It includes a completely rebuilt Brindleton Bay inspired by historic New England towns and set in the 1890s. This save uses a light amount of historical cc and most of the packs.
Download and details under the cut:
Tumblr media
SAVE DETAILS:
Includes:
Eight new residential lots
Seven new community lots
Six new households
Builds and households are all located in Brindleton Bay. The world is intended to be historically accurate to about 1890, though some liberties for functionality have been taken.
Builds in other worlds have been deleted. The necessary buildings, like dorms, active career lots, and the high school, have all been left in place.
Townies have been evicted, but not deleted, as I prefer EA townies to fully randomized townies.
If you’d like more period appropriate townies to add, the lovely @jewishsimming has some great historical ones to download and @cowplant-snacks has an amazing tutorial on how to manage your townies with MCCC.
REQUIREMENTS: I have all the packs except Batuu and some of the kits. I didn’t limit myself when building. I don’t have everything listed out here, but I will be uploading all the lots and households to my gallery, so if you’d like to know specific pack usage you’ll be able to check there. If you load in and things are replaced or missing and you think it looks obvious feel free to message me, I’m always happy to try to help you find something else that fits! This save includes historical CC, some is included in my download in folders and some you will need to download from the creators directly. The Great British Sim Challenge: The Dark Ages
Tumblr media
This history challenge will take you through some of the highs and lows of British history, beginning in the Iron Age and ending in the Medieval Era.
There are goals to complete for each era, but also rules which make the goals more challenging to complete.
There are ‘special events’ that could help or harm your progress to the goals e.g. the Black Death or having your prayers answered in the Medieval era . Think of them like the ‘Chance card’ in Monopoly.
In every era you'll have choices to make, with optional pathways within the goals. For example, will you choose to move deeper into the Roman Empire and become a gladiator, or will you stay in Britain and join the Celtic rebellion against the Romans?
While the challenge tries to stay fairly accurate to key events, lifestyle and culture of the different periods, there is one huge historical inaccuracy: it is a history without bigotry. Sims of all identities can be part of the challenge and live their lives with full acceptance and equality.
Now updated to include all recent packs: Horse Ranch, High School Years, For Rent, Growing Together
Download for free at Patreon

The King's gold tableware and The grand Couvert Ceremony
THE GOLD TABLEWARE
At this time of the year many of you will get to enjoy a nice family dinner, with what I hope will be fancy dishes and nice tableware. That is why I want to focus today on how the King of France or the royal family enjoyed their own Dinner during the 18th century.
When return to Versailles with his court in 1723 Louis XV had to follow the table ritual established his his predecessor the sun King. But as times he tried distinguishing himself from his illustrious ancestor of his : he changed the occurrence of the public meals to only include the supper of the no hunt days.
In 1727 he also decided to replaced the silverware of Louis XIV with his own tableware,at only 17 years old he dreamed of something more grand, more fancy. He therefore decided to order an entire table set made out of PURE GOLD! He had to provide the gold ingots himself, and all the goldsmith of the crown were assigned a role in this endeavour.
The first year he received over 112 pieces which included forks, knives, plates and several containers made of pure gold. During almost 2 decades he kept adding new pieces to his gold tableware set. During the 1740s he ended up running out of gold ingots, and in order to add the last pieces to the collection he had to melt gold tokens that the city of Paris offered him at several occasion such as his coronation, his wedding or even for the new year. He even had to melt a massive commemorative medal made out of gold and featuring the bust of the sun king. He finally received his long awaited gold girandoles in 1747(two decades after receiving the first tableware items). The design of the piece was made by Thomas Germain and was seen as one of the treasures of the rococo art in France.
Tumblr media
THE GRAND COUVERT
The grand couvert ceremony occurred in the Queen's Antechamber : the King sat next to the queen on a tall backrest armchair, and with the grand master of ceremony standing in between them, in front of them the courtiers standing or sitting on bench while watching them consume their supper. The first course was usually a set of soups accompanied by toasts and bread :
Tumblr media
The send course had a plate with beef usually another one with mouton and another one with a mix of mouton and calf which he never touched.
Tumblr media
He the continued with a course centred around roasted fowl, chicken, pigeons or duck, turkey or sometimes rabbit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then the desert with fruits arranged into pyramid, both fresh fruits ,candied ones and dried ones , accompanied by small cakes and compotes, and a piece of citron(cédrat).
Tumblr media
The set with all the tableware will be available on my Patreon.

Thermopolium Set [Ancient Roman Theme]
This is a set containing 26 pieces. So you can build you own Thermopolium Corner.
The food counter is functional and your Sim can grab 10 different ancient roman dishes or 4 different drinks.
You can tend the counter, directly grab food or hire a vendor.
The set also includes functional grill, sink, table, chair, shelves and a lot of decorative objects in the ancient roman style, so you can customize your perfect Thermopolium/Tavern.
There are two items converted from The Sims Medieval and retextured by me (rice sack, now flour sack, and barrel with sausages).
MORE PHOTOS AND DOWNLOAD INFO UNDER THE CUT
This is part 1 of 3 dedicated to Ancient Roman Theme.
(Part 2 coming in April will include Kitchen Set plus Roman Scrolls with custom roman recipes and Part 3 coming in May will cover Wine Making and building vineyard and Winery).
If you like history, you can check out the origin of fast food in Ancient Pompeii (the video that inspired me to make this set and the whole thematic CC project) right here.
P.S. If you want to make sure NPC Sims would actually order food from the thermopolium, I would recommend installing Insimnia's Let's Eat trait lot.

December 25th, 1921, Henford-on-Bagley, England
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were many things Rebecca thought she would never do. One of them was having sex with a man other than Peter. Another was having sex with the man whose title her son would inherit. Yet there she was, lying in the bed of Thomas Walsh, Duke of Feldsbury, on Christmas morning after a night of passion. She was 55. He was 76, old enough to be her father. He was only a year younger than Rose. In the aftermath, she felt nothing more than like a common harlot. Still, she couldn’t deny the pleasure she’d derived from it.
“Happy Christmas,” a voice said behind her, and she turned to see Thomas with his eyes open.
“Happy Christmas, Thomas,” she muttered.
Tumblr media
“Are you alright?”
Rebecca frowned. “You’re the first man I’ve laid with other than Peter. We were each other’s firsts. I thought we would be our last too.”
Thomas sat up. “Do you regret it?”
“No,” she muttered. “I only feel guilty that I enjoyed it.”
“Don’t. There is nothing wrong with enjoying yourself. You’re a good, kind woman who’s had an unusual life situation thrown at her. You’ve handled your son’s marriage better than I think most mothers would.”
“Byron likes to make statements. I am sure he’s done things I would have a heart attack if I knew of them. He’s stubborn. He would ruin the title merely out of spite, ignore the duties you’ve tried so hard to teach. Sometimes I feel ashamed of him because he has no shame. He doesn’t care. I first thought it was because of his time in America, but… I know he’s always been like that, since he went off to boarding school.”
“Much of his generation is like that. Disillusioned with the world, finding no point in keeping the intricate societal rituals we keep to heart. The war changed things. A part of it is a reaction. I have only seen a small part of the war, but it was enough. Your son has seen things too horrible to put into words. He can’t talk about it, so he finds ways to make himself forget. Truthfully, I pity him. He has been through much these last eight years.”
“You pity Byron? I know you don’t like him.”
“I don’t have to like him to pity him. He and I are in a situation where no one wins, and I can understand his anger. He reminds me of myself in my youth. Now I am just a cynical old man.”
Rebecca chuckled. “Age makes cynics of us all.
Thomas coughed. “If I asked you to marry me, would you say yes? We can keep it a secret, have a scandal of our own. Not even your children would know.”
The offer tempted Rebecca. She would never have to worry about money again. Thomas was kind to her, and he made her laugh. But he wasn’t Peter. “No,” she said after a minute. “I don’t think I can marry again.”
He nodded. “I understand.”

The 1500s was a century of innovation when it came to hairstyles, with the introduction of both metal hair pins (1545) and wigs (1572). These pins were used to hold wires and pads in place that essentially acted as scaffolding for the shaped hairstyles popular during this period. The religious modesty of previous centuries was cast aside for the first time, with young married women now uncovering their tresses. The ideal hair was curly and fair or red, a fad influenced by British monarch Queen Elizabeth I. CC links under the cut.

These 1970s Vintage Clothes include a Semi-Formal Dress for the Ladies and an Outfit for the Men. They work for the Decades Challenge or the History Challenge.
My favorite one for the The Sims 4 is the Decades Challenge. You play from the 1890s to the 2010s, dressing the part and following the rules. It’s fun to find custom content for the challenge.
