While long hair on men continued to be the fashion during the 1400s, the style started to draw criticism from churchmen and other moralistic authorities who worried that long hair for men meant trouble. This resulted in long hair mostly falling out of fashion by the 1500s. However, beard-wearing was still seen as a sign of masculinity and almost a rite of passage, symbolising the transition from boy to man. CC links under the cut.

31 Pride Month Art Prompts 2022

I'm dealing with some serious art block recently thus, ba bada ba! Pride prompts! I figured I would post it since you guys are wild artists and I really wanna see what you can do!

So it has 31 prompts and 31 color palettes based off of pride flags (yes I know there's 30 days in June just bear with me 31 is just a freebie so 👀)

Anyway, I'm going to be using this with a number generator so I get a random prompt number with a random color palette, but you don't have to do it that same at all! Please feel free to use this in any way you can come up with, just thought I would disclose that. PS: I'll be using this as inspo for both sims and traditional art so use it for either!

1. Frog: We're all bog frogs here! Show us your version!

2. Psychedelic: Don't do drugs, kids! Just show us something groovy!

3. AIDS remembrance: The AIDs epidemic has claimed the lives of 36.3 million people, both queer and straight! This pride month help us celebrate and remember all of those beautiful lives!

4. Your fav queer celeb: From amazing allies like Bea Arthur to groundbreakers like Lavern Cox, tell us who inspires you!

5. Your fav queer character: Have a ship? A character that helped you find yourself? Now's your chance!

6. Your fav decade: Is it ancient Greece with their progressive army, or maybe the queer renaissance of the 1980s? Show off your history knowledge!

7. Your fav queer show: TV shows are a big piece in helping with representation! Also, I'm looking for recommendations.

8. Tea/coffee/snack break: Art is hard work! So take a break and get yourself a treat! Now make some art out of it baby!

18. Pet: A pet portrait, an ode to Roy and Silo, or even a rainbow snake! Show us some cuteness and make it creative!

27. Love: Love is love is love! Whether it's platonic, romantic or familial all love is beautiful, but what does it look like? Some people hugging? A beautiful wedding, a melody of colors, or maybe just some hearts. Come on! Show us some love!

29. Renaissance painting: Beautiful portraits, wacky gatherings, and anything in between. Get in the mind of some of the best! Eat some cheese, drink some wine, CREATE!!!

Earwen is cheerful, loves outdoors, collector and music lover. Her aspiration is "Angling Ace", to become the bestest fisher out there!!

Findarato is a social butterfly which will be hell of an aspiration to complete, ngl.

Other Arafinweans will come later! Angrod and Aegnor will be born when Finrod becomes a Teenager. Galadriel comes after both of them hit childhood, i think

I took inspiration from Ancient Greece houses, even though it's very freeform

First roof has a workshop, a small library, Finarfin's and Earwen's bedroom; bathroom and a pool; kitchen and living room. Third room has 4 children bedrooms. In a garden, there's a pond with a pair of swans, a fountain, and a cherry tree (and monkey bars for children!!)

i plan on making nolofinweans and feanorians next :3

Under the cut bc this got long!

1. Your first OC ever?

Oh, this is Hard, I barely remember my little self-insert OCs from way back when. I will hesitantly say my first OC ever was... a Pokemon trainer OC. Her name was Ari, she had a Celebi who she could talk to because I said so, and her love interest was the Aura guy who hangs out on Iron Island. Good times!

6. Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related?

.....This feels like a callout. Hm. So, y'see, I have this thing where I'm uncreative and have a Type when it comes to character design, so... a lot of my OCs do tend to look alike superficially.

Technically Atlas (a dnd OC) and Aurelion (a dating sim OC) should be the poster children for this question, only because they were a case of not so much 'looking alike' as 'hey I'm stealing my own character design for a different setting because I like it and couldn't think of anything else.' Consequently, Atlas and Aurelion look more-or-less like twins despite not even belonging to the same universe(s). However, I do like to joke that they're somehow distantly related--given that one exists in a sort of medieval-fantasy-Ancient-Greece blend and the other in a futuristic space empire-- if only because the thought of Atlas having a far-off descendant who looks exactly like them makes me laugh.

Otherwise, I do have a lot of blonde OCs (fondly and only sort-of-jokingly nicknamed my Army of Blondes) who kind of vaguely look like they could be related but definitely aren't. The two OCs who /are/ related basically look nothing alike at all.

10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design?

Hmmmmm, "complicated" is a very subjective term... To me, none of my OCs designs are particularly complicated - they all have more complex bits, usually wardrobe related, and only because I can't resist a fun wardrobe, but by and large they're not all that complicated. I will, however, nominate Atlas for this one, because they wear armour almost All The Time, and it's kind of ornate and I hate drawing it, so.

16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)?

Hmmmmm. Probably Castor (dnd Wizard). He's a nerd. <3 Oh, but also Dani! She's an OC for a different TTRPG (Masks, if anyone is curious!) and is kind of an over-achiever-needs-straight-A's kid, bless her heart.

20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)?

Lyra and Nicky! Lyra is my beautiful, beautiful human bard, my first ever DND PC, and is a country singer. :,) I don't really have a headcanon for her voice, but her character playlist is mostly Dolly Parton with a little bit of Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves thrown in, so feel free to imagine something that suits. I imagine her belting Jolene a lot. <3

Nicky is my brandest newest baby boy, who I know very little about music-wise. He's in a band with some dudes about his age, ostensibly of the rock persuasion, but since I know very little about rock music, I mostly imagine him sounding like Charlie Gillespie, since Julie and the Phantoms is the only thing I really know that even vaguely fits the concept. 😂

26. Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will?

Thankfully, no! I've been very fortunate that all my dear friends who play Barbies with me are very accommodating of my little characters, so I've generally never really had to mess with them any more than I particularly wanted to.

30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection?

Dani, one hundred percent, bless her. She already has one stuffed animal she doesn't keep secret - she's probably got a stash under her bed.

36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)?

In fairness, almost all of my OCs are part of a larger group made with (a) friend(s), so they tend to all have a friend or sibling or s/o who belongs to someone else, but I feel like most relevant would be my beloved Rose, whose boyfriend/soulmate/husband/etc. belongs to @ash-soka <3

Shout-out to my beloved friend C, too, who bequeathed me partial ownership of the book she may or may not someday write so my little character and hers could be dating-divorced-will-they-won't-they-maybe-in-another-life-or-maybe-in-this-one for my enjoyment. <3 Wyvern+Sera 4eva <3 <3 <3 And also Anna and Clara! Bestie supernatural room-mates!!

40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!

The act of creating all my OCs are always fond memories in themselves - good times where I was having fun with friends! There are too many good moments to remember and pick, honestly.

46. Has anyone ever told you that you treat your OCs badly?

Luckily no lmao, I don't tend to brutalize them much (at least not out loud), so I generally never have cause to be accused of such.

A Rainbow of Colors

We are no into the liturgical season of "Ordinary" Time, which will continue until "Advent", the color is "green" signifying growth and maturation. It is a time of "ordinary, every day life." This month has been "Pride Month" and Saturday and Sunday of this week is San Francisco Pride. A time of celebration of the rainbow colors of life that shines during "Ordinary Time," truly making it a season of the Rainbow.

In the past week at Palm Springs, early in the morning, with prayer book, and Bible in hand, I have gone out for a long walk, where I have raged, grieved, and cried at the pain surrounding me everywhere I go--from Phoenix, Los Angles, to San Francisco--homelessness, poverty, and homosexuality-- and I look back to a couple of weeks ago waiting in the airport for my plane.

There was a young man, around 19, sitting on the other side crying. I walked over and sat down, he wiped his tears, and I smiled, and he shared his story. He was on his way to L.A., where his parents were sending him, after catching him in bed with another young man. They had kicked him out sending him to "where the other fags live."As we departed we hugged, he took my card, gave him some references, and I said, "God loves you!"

What his parents told him is death dealing, and I have experienced that same line of death dealing crap through the years by my first denomination, and the majority of so called "faith friends" forward.

In ancient Greece, its philosophers coined the word "Homo-sapiens, "sapiens" meaning wisdom, to demonstrate how humans can become wise over time. We as human beings have the capacity for growth.

And it is through that growth we can see Pride as a celebration of God's Rainbow of Colors of all of loving all of us as equals calling us to love on another:

"There is no longer Jew or Greek;there is no longer slave nor free; there is no longer male and female, for all are one in Christ Jesus.. ."Galatians 3:26.

p and dahpne’s longtime friend, philo (fi-low), came to visit for a while from paris. they immediately did as they usually do, spending late nights at the clubs and running around the city with all of it’s fluorescent wonder. their time consisted of saving girls from uninvited men’s flirtation, laughing about a millennium’s time of memories together, and complaining about their feet hurting.

Known Problems: The light blue dress has it’s neck poking out of the dress when they move in a certain way, such as when they stretch; Also, since it’s a very big sleeve dress, it doesn’t have the best bone assignment in the world, but I tried my best! The dress with the bow at the waist has some clipping in animations where the sims move a lot too, such extinguish, but I also tried everything I could! Other than these three little problems, you’re good to go!

* Note that teens and elders have unsolvable neck gaps. This is sadly the price for having them available!

1. can i just get ANY recs for a hxp story where hades and demeter are actually nice to each other and persephone's relationship to her isnt demonized? i dont care if its a one shot fanfic, ill take anything at this point.

2. idk why but the floating crowns is such a silly idea. if it was an aureole effect thatd be one thing and make mythology sense, but its a physical item that just floats there? like is it like the sims plumbob, why is it floating.

3. is it just me or does everyone in LO seems awfully stiff now? I'm not going to pretend the art was perfect earlier on but at least it seemed like they all moved pretty normally, but now they all seem so awkwardly positioned and rigid, like cheap paper dolls over actually living in the world they're in. its kinda odd looking.

4. So when Hades yelled at Zeus and pulled his tie all I could think was, "Wasn't Hadess violent behavior on Persephone's behalf supposed to be a flaw?" Wasn't the whole arc with the photographer whose eye he ripped out meant to be a step in Hades not being violent when he perceived Persephone as in danger. Zeus didn't even raise his voice he just asked a question. Him intimidating Thanatos only made it worse. Couldn't he have pulled out a chair himself or asked a bailiff.

5. lo persephone is basically pink diamond from steven universe. she's a spoiled, pink brat who acts like a child and feels entitled to so much because of their high status, has everyone instantly fall for them, anyone against them is evil unless they bend to her wants, is the most overpowered and rare being, is considered the most beautiful/amazing, and is never held accountable because they "had good intentions" and "didn't mean it". theyre both even excused for how much death theyve caused!

6. what i dont get is the stans say "its just a silly story dont look so into it 🙄" and its like?? bc rachel is trying to make it a deep story with overarching plots with stakes with world building and characters arcs with the fans claiming as such??? yet shes not doing any of that well?? so the fans want us to take it seriously as this deep, thought-provoking piece demanding respect, but at the same time says we cant discuss it and its not that serious so dont critique it? which one is it then?

7. I don't know why Zeus is being treated as the bad guy for suspecting that Persephone might have ulterior motives. He's already worried that she might be a fertility goddess, and after the act of wrath he also doesn't know what else she could be hiding. And besides, he has good reason to be paranoid: both his father and grandfather were overthrown so that fear is obviously going to always be on his mind.

8. even rachel herself say "you have to hold all your criticism until LO is over" and first off that wont be for another 5 years at the glacial pace she drags everything out, but it doesnt matter if LO has the greatest ending ever (which it wont) that wont correct every awful writing and art choice made before then. plus we know even once its done theyll still say criticism isnt valid with more excuses. They just dont want criticism, period. It's so pretentious to think critique is premature.

I hate how filler is just…happening??? Like now we have to “wait 2 days” till the next trail arc mess and it just goes to drama/fluff and I’m like??? Are you kidding me?!

Like Demeter is still chained and Persephone is going with hades gods know where and like it makes me angry because it should be the opposite. Persephone should be with cuffs and seen as more of a threat than Demeter because she legit did the crimes! Jesus! Like let’s go onto day 2 and get to the chase! We do not need filler in here!

10. Nitpicky fast pass spoiler for 182: Loukoumi/Turkish Delight wasn’t a common treat in Ancient Greece, it was popularized in the 19th century. Why the hell is Persephone talking about it in 182?? There are more appropriate desserts/sweets for her to receive like; any kind of fruit that isn’t pomegranate, melomakarona (honey cookies), amygdalota (almond cakes/cookies) even baklava. But alas, I’m giving RS too much credit and being too optimistic to think she’d actually do research
