38. A song from your favorite genre?
My favorite genre..... Is storytelling?
I like songs that tell a story with OCs and worldbuilding and all that. This category doesn't really stay contained in one genre, but it's really rare for pop. Some places you can find it are oldies country, symphonic power metal, and indie folk, like Radical Face:
My other favorite genre is indie boys from London who are completely unintelligible without written lyrics

"The Last Goodbye" Pippin animatic!
The fact that Billy Boyd sings The Last Goodbye always makes it feel like a 'missing Pippin song' to me. The line "I saw the light fade from the sky" always reminds me of the moment in Gondor where Pippin sees the stars vanish behind the clouds of Mordor. This animatic is also directly based on/is a study of shots in ROTK-- so if you're really Deep Into It you might be able to pick out exactly what specific scenes I'm referencing. I may continue drawing out the full song, but I've had this opening bit in my head very vividly for a while.

🎧
The song is Harmless by Amanda Shires and like most of her songs every word is perfect but if I have to choose I'll take the first verse in its entirety:
A phased golden light
Rained down from the street light
It fell across your shoulder
Paused just above your collar
Like it had something to show me
As if I wasn't already noticing
Your eyes a shade of wonder
Like if thunder had a colour
This song to me is so ronance @eskawrites cfdau coded, also it is one of my favorite songs which I guess is appropriate given thats one (or two) of my favorite fics. There's even a cheeky Tenar reference in there later on! God its a perfect song. I love it so much.

I hate it here
you know, i started this almost positive i knew which fic would dominate this, but i was very wrong. so so very wrong.
this is another willow song. she's my one OC who received the grace of being the whole "i'm a reader and a hopeless romantic and i will make it my entire personality" trope. this is a song 100% for the readers, so it's going to my bookworm baby. i think it also plays into how she was in love with the idea of steve more so then who he was as a person - she likes the stories she can conduct in her mind more than reality (partially due to trauma) up until she meets eddie and he gives her no other choice but to fall in love with the present.
and even more so, he offers to join her there, in her secret gardens. he reads her favorite book and he engages in conversations about it with her, for fucks sake. he turns all the stories she worships across pages into her reality. he dances with her in the kitchen, he creates his own poetry about her with his words. he loves her the way she loves all her favorite books. in the way she thought she'd only ever read about, watch movies about.
anyways. she's just like me fr. where's my eddie?

2. A song for when you’re sad
4. The best song to dance to
:)
Ok so when I'm sad I don't necessarily want songs to cheer me up. I want something that will gut me, drive itself into my stomach like a rusty fish hook and drag out the squirming infection. I want catharsis.
This song is heavy as hell. If you're really in the trenches it will drag you though the blood-soft mud and it will hurt like putting weight on a broken bone. Somerimes that's what you need to get to safety.
Tw for CSA/rape mention, but in the end it's not a downer. Fun fact did you know Amanda Palmer is married to Neil Gaiman?
If that's not for you, try this one. It's soft and it's all positive and affirming but it just Knows something. It doesn't try to tell you that you're amazing and everything everyone needs. When you're struggling that's not what you wonder. That's not what you're too afraid to ask because to you the answer has always been no.
Dance music? Sure let's tone whiplash to groovy tunes :)
Keep em coming! Ask me some music prompts or make up your own

An illustration for The Road Goes Ever On (version from The Hobbit) I made some time ago. It’s maybe the art I am the most proud of.
The text in a more legible calligraphy:
Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known
And here is my favourite adaptation of the song

stranger things spoilers
imagine eddie, dying, being held in dustin’s arms. he’s joking around like he does. maybe he knows he’s dying and he’s trying to make dustin smile one more time. maybe he doesn’t know.
but somewhere in that goofy final monologue, the tone changes. he gets a bit more somber and drops his smile as he looks up at the red sky, just past dustin’s gaze. and he simply says, “i see fire”. (i know it’s cheesy but come on. lord of the rings.)
mostly because, as he said, he left the burning shire and went straight to the fires of mordor, but steve robin and nancy were also burning vecna.
that’s all. i hope it makes sense.
