🌈DUSK AND DAWN🌈
~❤️🧡💛~
~🖤💜🤍~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dusk and Dawn are to be seen as the Arts N’ Crafts Attendants, in which Dawn is out more often then Dusk is.
Dawn has complete control whenever Dusk comes out, regardless if the lights are out or not. Which means, during nighttime, Dusk cannot come out unless given permission from Dawn. It sucks, I know.
The reason Dawn does this is to prevent any children from getting hurt. Dusk is very aggressive and rude, meanwhile Dawn is sweet and a happy little guy! Another reason why Dawn never lets him out is because he just..doesn’t like him. At all. And Dusk, well, doesn’t like him at all either.
🌈DAWN AND DUSK FACTS🌈
• Dawn & Dusk can glow in the dark
• When flustered or really happy, Dawn’s sunrise head begins to shine, as well as the tips of his sunrays.
• They use their tails as nightlights for the children during Daycare Naptime!
• They have very sharp teeth
• Dawn is the Sunrise, Dusk is the Nightfall.
• Yes, Dawn & Dusk are shipped with Sun & Moon..
(Dawn x Sun, Dusk x Moon. However, Dusk & Moon are really rude to eachother, so, basically its like a “tsundere like ship” relationship. They don’t know they like eachother, either. Dawn & Sun is such a sweet and wholesome relationship, and yes, Dawn flirts with Sunny. :3)
• Dawn usually is the one to be caring for the Arts N’ Crafts area of the daycare.
Dusk doesn’t do as much.
• The children put stickers on both Sun AND Dawn, and it’s usually a pain to get them off. Moon comes out to help Dawn get his off since he has long nails.
• Dawns voice disclaimer is Shes Homeless by Creep-P.
• Dusks voice disclaimer is Dogwalk by Creep-P.
- Note: they sound similar because they are the same people…sorta…but not really. They’re the same but also completely different robots, ifykwimykwim.
• Dusk has mini sunrays under his hat, thats why he has dangling stars coming out from under his hat.
• They have speakers on their belly’s to play music for the children.
(Dusk usually plays really loud and annoying rock music to piss off Dawn.)
• Dusks hat is actually very long, but hes doesnt like it so he wraps it around his neck like a scarf.
Dawn uses his hat given to him as a scarf because he doesn’t wanna wear a hat.
(His sunrays are too long, so whats the point???)
• Dawn is indeed flirty, towards both Sun & Moon.
• Dusk will hide in the ballpit and scare the shit out of Sun (if hes allowed out) by jumping out and making a “RAWR!!” sound.
• Kids + Sun actually hot glued / stitched in the many things on their pants to make them colorful.
(They did this while they were off)
• Dawn is often mistaken for a girl because of his eyelashes…
• Dusk annoys the shit out of Dawn in his head.
Theres not much more facts I can think about them, so there you go.
🌈PLEASE DO NOT STEAL DAWN & DUSK, THEY ARE MY BABIES ONLY AND NOT YOURS. grrr🌈

Now that should have been the end of it.
Tumblr media
We have Alya getting the scoop, I swear it's like shes been staying here ever since Monarch renamed himself. Then
Tumblr media
Tikki's face. Oh god Tikki's face. This is the reason why I didn't throw the previous picture at the end of the last post. Just look at her. She's just like "I saw everything and it will never be unseen."
Tumblr media
And I'm uncomfortable again. She actually growled. Rawred? Whatever you call making that sound at the end it's what she did. I don't like using the term thirsty to define a 14 year old but she's not helping me come up with any alternatives.
Tumblr media
Tikki and Alya's face this time.
Tumblr media
Marinette feeling so very happy and free for once and then....
Tumblr media
Yeah... Who wants to tell her thats not how this works?
Tumblr media
Well Tikki doesn't want to if this nervous giggling is anything to go by. I think she's just realised the hell she's wandered into.

Love you all, hope you guys are safe <3
Tumblr media
Crumpled up newspapers littered the floor as another ball was apathetically tossed aside. A sigh of defeat escaped your lips as you looked up at the ceiling in desperation.
“Still at it with the job hunt, huh?” your roommate, Hyuna, said when she saw your mess, “I told you to search online. Or try to get a job at a cafe or a boba shop or something.”
“Easy jobs online seem sketchy, and I told you I don’t want to work in the food industry ever again,” you groaned.
“But you’d rather...be a babysitter?” she questioned as she held up an ad, “Wait you could get paid up to $15 an hour? That’s pretty good.”
“I didn’t see that one. Is it an agency or something?”
“Not sure, take a look,” she handed you the paper.
“Oh, it seems like it’s a daycare run out of someone’s house. They’re looking for multiple applicants. You wanna do it with me?! I think it could be fun!” you ask excitedly.
“And spend most of my summer vacation with a bunch of snot nosed brats? I don’t think so. You have fun though!” she blew you a kiss as she walked away.
You whipped your phone out and immediately called the number in the ad. This job was the only one that seemed bearable, and you thought kids were cute for the most part. You’ve had a few babysitting gigs in the past so this shouldn’t be too bad.
“Hello?” a deep voice answered the call.
“Hi, I saw your ad in the paper! I was wondering if there was still a babysitting position open?” you inquired.
“Oh yes! Yeah there’s still a spot open. Um, can you give me a sec?” the man said quickly as you heard wailing kids in the background. After two minutes or so he returned to the phone.
“I’m terribly sorry about that. You don’t have a criminal background or anything right? Gosh, I’m sure this sounds unprofessional but--”
“Nope, I don’t have any charges or anything like that. Should I call back later?” you offered since it seemed like the man was a little preoccupied.
“It’s like this all the time. Why don’t we do a practice run tomorrow? Oh! I mean, whenever you’re available to start. Or technically have an interview? I guess? Hey, don’t put that in your mouth!” the man chastised at someone in the distance.
“I can come in tomorrow!” you said.
“Great! Just use the address in the same ad you got this number from! Oh, and please get here by 9am! See you soon!” the man hung up abruptly.
“That was chaotic…” you said to yourself.
A moment later your phone began to ring. It was from the babysitting guy.
“Hello?” you answered.
“I realized I never got your name! I promise I’m not always this frazzled,” he laughed as rambunctious laughter erupted behind him.
“Oh, I’m ______,” you gave him your first and last name.
“Cool. See you tomorrow Miss ____!” he said before hanging up again.
You were actually excited to babysit. It had been a while since you had done it, and playing with kids was usually fun. Then again, you’ve never had a bad experience with babysitting before. You prayed that this gig would continue the positive trend.
Donning shorts and a simple Mickey Mouse t-shirt, (you figured some kid was bound to like the mousey character) it was time to head off to your potential workplace. The babysitting place was actually fairly close to you, only about a 10 minute drive. It was 8:55am by the time you arrived. A couple of parents walked past your car to drop off their kids. All of the kids seemed to be pretty excited to enter the house, which was definitely a good sign.
You gently knocked on the door at exactly 9am. There was no response as you awkwardly waited for about a minute or so. All you could hear was shrill laughter and thumps that you presumed was the kids running about. You realized there was a doorbell, and sighed at your foolishness.
The door opened seconds after you rang the doorbell. A tall man with dark hair greeted you with a warm smile. You were taken aback by the handsome guy, suddenly questioning whether you were at the right place or not until a child popped up from behind his shoulder and yelled out a loud “Boo!” that caused you to jump.
“Ah, sorry about that! This one is always trying to play pranks,” the man laughed as he playfully jostled the child that was latched onto his back, “You must be ______?”
“That’s me!” you say with a little too much enthusiasm.
“Cool. C’mon in, I’ll introduce you to the kids,” the man led you inside.
The living room was littered with toys, from cars to building blocks to barbies. This place was definitely a kid’s happy place. Four little kids were playing with various things when you walked in. All of the kids there seemed to be between the ages of 4 to 6. At a glance, it seemed like they were all playing house. It took you a few seconds to realize that one of the kids was actually playing by herself; she was just physically close to the other kids.
“Everyone! This is our newest helper! Her name is Miss ____. Let’s all play nicely with her okay?” the man announced.
The kids playing house immediately stopped what they were doing and rushed to you. Two boys began asking you questions in a rapid fire succession, while the little girl merely clung to your leg.
“Those two are Kota and Bel,” the man pointed to the two boys, “The little girl stuck to you like glue is Ava, and the one playing over there is Lucy,” he continued to name each child.
“AND I’M SAM!!” the last boy exclaimed over the man’s shoulder.
“Yes, this troublemaker here is Sam. That’s basically the whole gang! We could get a few more additions as the summer goes on, but these guys are the OG crew. They’re all really sweet kids, once you get to know them. Any questions so far?” your employer asked.
“I don’t think I ever caught your name, sir,” you say politely.
“Oh! No need to call me sir. I think we’re probably around the same age? Not that I’m assuming your age or anything but--”
“He’s my horsey!” Sam interrupted.
“No, he’s the chef!” Kota yelled.
“No, he’s our dad who’s not our dad,” Lucy chimed in.
“My mom told me he was a babysitter?” Bel added, now visibly confused.
“I am all of those things,” the man reassured the children, “But my name is Taehyung. The kids call me Tae or Mr. insert whatever title I have in the game we are playing on that day. Pleasure to meet ya,” Tae extends a hand out to you, “Let’s see how your first day goes.”
The first few hours consisted of a rather intricate game of pretend set up in a fantasy world. You played a princess who was captured by an evil dragon, who was played by Taehyung (you couldn’t help but think about how you wouldn’t mind being his hostage).
The boys were valiant knights on their quest to rescue you. The girls played different creatures that aided the knights as fairies or unicorns or any other things they wanted to be. Most of the game consisted of you and Taehyung sitting together in a corner of the living room. Even though you didn’t have to do anything, it was fun watching the kids play. Their imagination amused you.
“Enjoying yourself, princess?” Taehyung asked as he also watched the children run around.
His deep voice sent chills down your spine. Something about the way the word “princess” rolled off his tongue was so enchanting. You cleared your throat before answering.
“This job has been pretty fun so far, Mr. Evil Dragon,” you smile.
“Hey! I’m not evil, just misunderstood,” he protested.
“Oh no! The dragon is about to eat the princess!” one of the boys cried out.
“What? No, I’m not going to eat her,” Taehyung said defensively.
“You need to pretend to eat the princess so that the knights save her,” Lucy, the quiet one, scuttled over to whisper to the both of you before hurrying back to her spot.
Taehyung turned towards you to appease the kids as they held their breath in anticipation.
“Rawr! I’m going to eat you!” he said in a deep voice.
“Oh no! Somebody save me!” you cried out, playing along.
A few moments passed but none of the kids moved. You both turned your heads towards them in confusion. They stared back at you blankly.
“You need to bite her!” Sam demanded.
“What?” you and Tae said in unison.
“Bite her! Bite her! Bite her!” the boys started to chant.
“But not too hard!” Ava expressed her worry for you, making you smile.
“I…uh…” Taehyung was at a loss for words.
“They’re not gonna stop, are they?” you whispered to him.
He nodded with a sigh as their chanting got louder. You offered him your arm. Kids can be crazy stubborn over silly things. Besides, you’ve done worse for less (college is crazy).
Taehyung shot you an “are you sure about this?” look, to which you just nodded. Once he got the okay, Taehyung grabbed your arm and pulled you harshly, causing your face to be a mere inches away from his.
“Fools! You think you can save the princess? I will devour her before your very eyes!” Taehyung declared with an even deeper voice. He opened his mouth menacingly, as if to show off his fangs. Then, he proceeded to bite your bicep. To be honest, he was being so forceful that you thought he was going to bite you for real, causing you to involuntarily close your eyes.
Instead, he gingerly placed his teeth on your skin so lightly that you could barely feel anything. You opened your eyes to see Taehyung grinning at you with your arm in his mouth.
“Aaaaggghhh GET HIM!!” Sam yelled, leading the other boys straight into Taehyung.
Taehyung quickly let go of you before he rolled out onto the floor. The boys began to pummel Taehyung with their foam swords and pretend bows and arrows. The girls came to your aid to help you escape during the battle.
The little boys triumphantly stood over their defeated babysitter who pretended to be passed out on the floor. You applauded their victory as the girls sat by your side.
“Okay! Good game, it’s almost lunchtime,” Taehyung announced as he quickly popped back up.
“Chef Tae makes the best mac and cheese!” Ava informed you excitedly.
“I wanted dino nuggies!” Sam puffed out his cheeks in disappointment.
“Sam, you know it’s Ava’s day to pick out lunch. It’ll be your turn tomorrow okay? I promise! You guys can stay here and play with Miss ____ till food is ready,” Tae called out as he walked to the kitchen. Lucy silently followed Tae.
“Lucy likes to help out in the kitchen a lot. She sets the table,” Ava explained when she saw you watching Lucy.
“You’re good at being a princess!” Kota butted in as he ran to hug your leg.
“I like your shirt! I like Mickey Mouse too. I saw him in DisneyWorld last year,” Bel said as he clung to your other leg.
The kids took turns holding onto your legs as you tried to walk around. Apparently the thought of making you tumble over was an exciting one, and that kept the kids busy until Taehyung called for everyone.
Five little bowls of mac and cheese were set up on the dining table. The kids took their seats as Taehyung handed out juice boxes. He positioned himself by your side as the little ones began to chow down.
“I normally just eat the rest out of the pot, but since you’re here I can get you a bowl. Sorry about biting you earlier, the kids really like it when I get serious about my roles,” Taehyung chuckled as he scooped out your portion.
“It’s no problem, you’re a great actor. Thank you,” you say politely as he handed you a bowl.
Lunch was spent making small talk with Taehyung. He was a newly graduated college student trying to make extra money before starting a real job hunt.Taehyung had been running this makeshift daycare since he was a senior in highschool.
“Summers are always fun with them,” Taehyung said while smiling fondly at the kids, “How has it been so far?” he asked.
“I’ve been having a good time. The kids are all really sweet! They have so much energy,” you answer.
“They do indeed, which is why playtime is so important in the morning! It makes what comes next easier,” he winked at you before collecting the empty bowls, “Okay kiddos! Who’s ready for nap time?”
Lucy quietly raised her hand while the boys groaned. You figured it would be hard to get those active boys to settle down, let alone to take a nap. You helped Taehyung set up blankets and pillows in the game room. The kids made a beeline to their designated blankets without a fuss.
“Do you sing, Miss _____?” Taehyung asked out of the blue.
“Um, not really?” you say hesitantly.
“Ah, I see. No worries. Everybody ready?” he said.
“Yes!” all the kids replied.
“Alrighty. Do you have any song requests, Miss ____?”
You thought about which songs would make for a decent lullaby, “Do you know Adore You by Harry Styles?”
“I’ll have to look up the lyrics but yeah I like that song! I like his whole album actually,” Taehyung nodded as he pulled out his phone and took a deep breath, “Walk in your rainbow paradise~”
You were shocked by his vocal talent. His voice control was superb and the quality of his voice was downright euphoric. Even though Taehyung’s voice is deeper than Harry Styles’, his range was incredible. He was still able to go as high as Harry without any trouble. All the kids had fallen sound asleep by the time he finished the song.
“This is when I typically have about an hour of free time,” he said after quietly leading you back into the kitchen.
“You have such a beautiful voice! Do you sing to them every day?” you praised him.
“Thanks! Yeah, I sing to them every day. They used to get duets actually,” Taehyung sighed.
“Did you have another coworker before?” you asked.
“Yep. My best friend actually. He’s my roommate too, but he landed an internship this summer so he couldn’t be here. I’m very proud of him! But usually this is a job for two people so I decided to put that ad out. I’m happy you came out! The kids seem to like you,” Taehyung gave you a thumbs up.
“I hope so! Lucy might be scared of me though,” you recalled the way she mostly avoided you all morning.
“Nah, she’s just really shy. She told me that she thought you were really pretty though, so that’s a good sign!” he tried to reassure you.
“I guess it must be true then. Kids are brutally honest,” you smiled.
“She definitely wasn’t lying,” Taehyung smiled back at you.
You had to look away awkwardly to hide your blushed cheeks. There’s no way you could handle a direct smile from this guy. How was it possible for someone to be that handsome without even trying?!
“So what happens after naptime?” you quickly asked to change the subject.
“Basically more playing until their parents come. It honestly just depends on what the kids wanna do. We can play inside, in the backyard, and sometimes we go to the park,” Taehyung answered with an amused smile, “Let’s use this free time to conduct a more formal interview, shall we?”
Taehyung then asked you a series of questions about your summer schedule, if you’re willing to work every day of the week, how you feel about the kids, along with other things. You answered truthfully and kept up a professional demeanor. Taehyung seemed to be satisfied with your answers and leaned back in his chair.
“That all works for me! The people who really need to approve of you are the parents. I’ll introduce you to them later this afternoon. I’m sure they’ll all be fine once I vouch for you,” he nodded.
Soft giggles caught your attention. Taehyung signaled that break time was now over and led the way back to the living room. Kota and Bel were wrestling each other while the others threw pillows at them.
“Did everyone have a good nap?” Taehyung sing songed.
“Yes!” they replied.
“Can we play house now?” Ava asked.
“Yeah! Miss ____ can be the mommy now!” Sam bounced up in excitement, “Our last mommy used to be a boy.”
“Jimin was a great mommy and I’m sure he misses you all dearly. Jimin is my roommate/best friend/ex-cobabysitter,” Taehyung explained.
The game of house was more hands on from your end. The kids demanded you to carry them and read them stories like a real mommy would. It was mainly the girls who wanted to play with you, while the boys took turns wrestling with Tae or riding on his back. You were braiding Lucy’s hair when the doorbell rang.
“Kota! Your mom is here!” Taehyung called from the front.
All the kids trickled out one by one as their parents arrived. Taehyung introduced you to each parent; their reactions were all positive, especially when their kids raved about you being the new Jimin.
“If she’s anything like Jimin, then I have nothing to worry about. I trust your judgement, Taehyung,” one of the sterner looking parents said (Sam’s father to be exact).
“Congrats! You got the job,” Taehyung congratulated you once all of the children were picked up, “We get paid on Fridays. I’ll basically just split what we earn 50/50, cool?”
“That’s fine by me! I’m looking forward to working with you,” you bow graciously.
“Ah! No need to be so formal. We’re partners now! I’m not your boss or anything,” Taehyung gave you a friendly pat on the shoulder, “See you tomorrow!”
Summer was about to get rather eventful. All of the children warmed up to you surprisngly quickly, even timid Lucy (who had arguably grown the most fond of you). As the days went on, you couldn’t help but admire Taehyung’s kindness and patience when it came to the kids. From firm to understanding, he was everything a caregiver should be. He handled spats between kids with ease, often by making them forgive each other then laugh at some silly joke of his.
One afternoon, the kids voted to watch a Disney movie. All seven of you curled up on the couch together with you and Taehyung in the middle. Lucy sat in your lap while Bel sat in Taehyung’s. Halfway through the movie, Taehyung fell asleep. The kids didn’t notice since they were so engrossed in the movie. You however, DID notice. Mostly because he rolled his sleepy head onto your shoulder.
Your heartbeat quickened as you slowly turned to take a peek at the handsome man sleeping beside you. He looked angelic, and you realized that he smelled pleasant too. He had a sweet scent that was uncharacteristic for a young man. You took a deep breath and pretended not to notice him. He didn’t wake up until the doorbell rang near the end of the movie.
He seemed to be confused and perhaps even slightly flustered when he lifted his head from your shoulder, but quickly shrugged it off to go answer the door. The incident (and the drool on your shoulder) was never mentioned.
It had been a month since you started babysitting with Taehyung, and it honestly had been a lot more fun than you expected. The kids are wonderful silly little beings and Taehyung is...well...Taehyung.
You were cleaning up the living room on a late Friday afternoon after all the kids had been picked up. Taehyung was somewhere splitting up the week’s paycheck. Once all the toys were back in their respective bins, it was time to gather your stuff and go.
“Great work this week,” Taehyung commended as he handed you your cut.
“Thanks! Same to you as always. I’ll see you on Monday,” you wave as you open the front door.
“Actually um--” Taehyung cleared his throat.
“Yes?” you whipped around with almost too much eagerness.
“My friend is part of an art gallery showing tomorrow night and I was wondering if you’d like to go with me? I heard there will be drinks and finger foods…” Taehyung trailed off, presumably due to imagining what kind of snacks will be served.
“I’d love to! I’m not an expert on art or anything, but it sounds cool,” you smile.
“No worries, I’m no expert either. I’m just a guy who appreciates neat expressions of creativity,” he nodded humbly, “I can pick you up at your place, if you’d like.”
“Sure, I’ll text you my address. Oh uh, what’s the dress code like? I don’t really attend these things,” you ask shyly.
“I’d say a step down from formal? Like no t-shirts or jeans. Pretend like you’re going on a date to some restaurant that isn’t a michelin star but is still classier than Olive Garden,” Taehyung tried to explain.
“I’ll do my best,” you smile at his peculiar way of describing the appropriate attire.
A smile never left your face as you drove home. A chance to hangout with Taehyung one on one without any kids around? All of his attention will be on you? Yes please. You love the kids and all, but you finally have a real chance to get closer to Taehyung. To be honest, you might have the teensiest little crush on him, but who could blame you?
Tumblr media
The next day was spent preparing for your night out with Taehyung. It probably wasn’t a date (90% sure it’s not), but you wanted to look irresistible anyway. You put on a purple dress with flowy sleeves that made you feel like a princess. It was on the dressier side, but being slightly overdressed never hurt anyone.
You usually only had time to slap on mascara and a lip tint in the mornings before babysitting, but now you had abundant time to play around with your makeup. You settled for a soft yet glamorous look with shimmery eyeshadow and eyeliner. Sparkly lip gloss tied the whole look together and made your lips look tempting (or so you hoped). You decided to leave your hair alone since you were having a miraculously good hair day.
“Wow are you sure this isn’t a date?” Hyuna whistled when she walked into your room.
“It’s not! This is just the first time Taehyung will see me actually trying to look good,” you say defensively.
“You’re cute even in ratty t-shirts, but I get what you mean. Have fun tonight!” your roommate gave you a tight hug.
A strong knock on your front door indicated Taehyung’s arrival. Hyuna tagged along as you went to answer the door; she wanted to see the guy you’ve been gushing over for the past month for herself.
Your mouth hung open in shock for a split second when you opened the door. Taehyung also dressed up. He was wearing a bright sunflower shirt paired with a black blazer that perfectly combined fun with sophistication. He wore a red silky bandana looking belt for an added pop of color with his black pants.
“Hey Taehyung!” you greet him happily.
“Good evening, Miss ____. You look spectacular!” he complimented you immediately.
“So do you! It’s funny seeing you not in a t-shirt, though I’m sure you’re thinking the same thing,” you say.
“You’re charming even in your graphic tees, but this is a nice change of pace too,” Taehyung agreed.
“Hi! I’m Hyuna, ____’s roommate,” Hyuna butted in to shake his hand.
“Hi, I’m Taehyung, ____’s babysitting partner,” he introduced himself.
“We should get going,” you say politely before Hyuna could start to get chatty.
Hyuna mouthed an exaggerated “oh my god” coupled with a double thumbs up as you waved goodbye after Taehyung was already out the door. You playfully rolled your eyes but blew her a kiss anyway.
“I didn’t realize you lived so close to me,” Taehyung said as he pulled away from the curb.
“Yeah, it made the job even more appealing,” you nodded.
“I really am glad that you applied,” Taehyung said softly, as if to himself.
“Sorry, what was that?” you couldn’t hear him properly.
“Nothing! I said I’m glad you agreed to accompany me tonight!” Taehyung quickly stated.
“Thanks for inviting me out! I’m actually pretty excited,” you admitted.
The gallery was somewhere in the swanky part of downtown. You gazed out of the window at all of the high end stores Taehyung drove by. Everyone walking around the stores looked like supermodels, which was actually pretty intimidating. What if the people at the gallery looked like that too?
“We’re here!” Taehyung announced, interrupting your thoughts.
There was a decent amount of people wandering around the venue when you both entered. It was basically one big dimly lit room with spotlights on pieces scattered around on the walls plus some sculptures in the middle. Thankfully, the patrons already inside looked like normal people, most of them probably students like you.
“Taehyung!” someone called from the side of the room.
You both made your way towards the voice, only to find a man who was just as handsome as Taehyung greeting you with a bunny like smile. He had long hair that almost covered up his assorted dangly earrings. He definitely had art student vibes mixed with a dash of bad boy. The boys greeted each other with a ferocious hug, indicating that they’re probably good friends.
“Oh! What’s up, I’m Jungkook,” the boy shook your hand once he noticed you.
“She’s my babysitting partner this summer,” Taehyung said proudly.
“She’s replacing Jimin huh?” Jungkook laughed, “Taehyung and Jimin are like my brothers. We were all pretty close in college and are batchmates, even though I’m younger than them,” he stuck his tongue out at Taehyung.
“Yeah yeah okay whatever. Skipping grades in elementary school and bringing in a ton of transfer credits will help you do that I guess,” Taehyung shook his head even though he was still smiling.
“Are these your pictures?” you asked Jungkook, motioning to the mounted pictures behind him.
“Yeah! I took most of these in Madrid, I’ve been working abroad for my dream company,” Jungkook answered you proudly.
“Who’s this?” Taehyung pointed to a picture of a girl laughing by a giant tree.
“Yeah, she’s gorgeous!” you added.
“She’s um...a good friend. She was the perfect model,” Jungook said with a faraway look in his eyes that told you there was more to the story.
“Tell me more about her on our next phone call. Tonight is for celebrating you!” Taehyung picked up on Jungkook’s sudden change of tone.
You enjoyed listening to their old college stories as the boys reminisced about their past together. Jungkook relished telling you all of Taehyung’s embarrassing moments at various parties. Taehyung returned the favor by recalling Jungkook’s past run-ins with women. Despite his natural charm and god like looks, apparently Jungkook gets really nervous around girls.
You and Taehyung were on your own once Jungkook was flagged down by an older patron interested in purchasing some of his work. Taehyung stayed close to your side as you explored the rest of the gallery. Each artist was so incredibly talented as their pictures told  stories with just a single frame.
“____ look! They have those fancy charcuterie boards!” Taehyung grabbed your hand and excitedly dragged you over to the snack table. You couldn’t help but smile at his childlike elation.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’ve been getting tired of being force fed fruit snacks every day,” you laughed as you ate the assorted appetizers.
“I completely understand. Unfortunately, the kids are too sweet when they want to share. I don’t have it in me to turn them down,” Taehyung agreed.
Once the food was eaten, you resumed walking through the gallery. It was fun making up stories to go with each picture. Taehyung seemed to gravitate towards adding a romantic twist to each story, while you opted for a bit of mystery. At the end of the event, Taehyung met up with Jungkook once more to say his goodbyes.
“Thanks again for coming with me, I had fun! I hope you enjoyed yourself,” Taehyung said as he drove you back.
“It was really neat! I liked hanging out with you outside of work,” you nodded.
“Would you say it was a successful date then?” Taehyung raised an eyebrow with curiosity. Your heart skipped a beat as your eyes widened with surprise.
“Was...was this a date?” you asked quietly.
“Did you want it to be?” Taehyung teased.
“I wouldn’t have gotten so dressed up otherwise,” you said defensively, taken aback by his sudden cheekiness.
“I realized I should’ve clarified that after you had already left. My bad,” Taehyung shot you a boxy grin, “But then I figured maybe you would be more relaxed if I didn’t mention it.”
“That’s odd logic, but I guess it worked,” you admitted begrudgingly.
Taehyung walked you back up to your house. He sweetly kissed your cheek and bid you goodnight, leaving you frozen in place.
“S-see you on Monday!” was all you were able to stammer out, to which Taehyung just smiled and waved back.
Hyuna happily freaked out with you once you were back inside. She was watching you from the moment Taehyung pulled back up. She shrieked with excitement once you told her that Taehyung confirmed that it was a date. Hyuna didn’t let up with grilling questions about how your night went. She even asked if the Jungkook guy you met was single, to which you truthfully answered that you didn’t know.
“Besides, he told me himself that he’s scared of girls. You’re scary enough as is,” you teased her.
“Oh shut up. So is Taehyung like, your boyfriend now?” Hyuna asked the million dollar question.
“I don’t think so. I think it was just a date, but that’s a good start!” you declared optimistically.
Babysitting on Monday went on like normal. Taehyung didn’t act any differently, which was both concerning and relieving. You were in the backyard pretending to eat whatever dirt concoction the little kids were serving you.
“This one is for you,” Lucy quietly offered Taehyung a clump of dirt sprinkled with blades of grass, topped with a dandelion.
“Oh, how pretty! What is it?” Taehyung played along.
“It’s a love potion. The next person you hug will fall in love with you,” Lucy smiled.
A smirk crept on Taehyung’s face as he pretended to eat Lucy’s love potion. He made a satisfied “Ahh” sound that made Lucy giggle.
“Tae has to hug me now! He loves me the most!” Sam yelled as he ran over to latch onto Taehyung.
“No, Tae loves me!” Bel argued as he pulled on Taehyung’s shirt.
“That’s not how it works!” Lucy huffed as she yelled at the boys.
You watched with delight as the little kids chased Taehyung around the backyard, demanding that he has to hug them. It was easy for him to juke them out as they constantly ran back and forth. You were content with just watching them until Taehyung began to make a beeline for you.
“Oh no no no,” you cried as you got up to run.
Taehyung (and the kids) chased you around for a little bit. The backyard was on the smaller side, so there wasn’t much space to evade all of them coming for you at once. To make matters worse, Taehyung actually started to try and catch you. His speed was no joke; he was much more agile than you gave him credit for.
With one pounce, Taehyung tackled you to the ground. Somehow he managed to whip himself around while you were falling, so you ended up falling on him. Now wrapped up in his arms, Taehyung smiled up at you with a shit eating grin.
“I guess you have to fall in love with me now,” he smirked.
“You wish,” you laughed as you pulled yourself up.
“Aw now he loves Miss _____,” Sam pouted.
“No, now Miss ____ has to fall in love with Tae,” Ava corrected him.
“That’s dumb,” Kota shook his head.
“Tae! Kota said a bad word!” Bel immediately tattled.
“Kota, remember what I said about bad words. No one wants to play with someone who says mean things,” Taehyung chided him.
“Sorry,” Kota mumbled.
“Let’s play go play inside. Who wants juice?” Taehyung patted Kota’s head.
The kids followed Taehyung inside like little ducklings. You loved that sight, you always thought it was the cutest thing. The rest of the day went by without a hitch.
The topic of favorite movies came up during lunchtime the next day.
“I like Frozen 2,” Ava stated, and Lucy nodded furiously in agreement.
“Detective Pikachu was better. Pikachu is funny,” Sam interjected. The other little boys then began to argue about which pokemon was better/stronger.
“I’m not really a big movie watcher,” Taehyung confessed as he took a bite of a dino chicken nugget.
“Have you at least seen the classics? Harry Potter? Lord of the Rings? Star Wars?” you listed with concern.
“I’ve seen Harry Potter and Star Wars. I think I saw the Lord of the Rings? I can’t really remember. I know I wanted to watch the newer Lord of the Rings movies,” he chuckled at your growing disbelief.
“Newer Lord of the Rings? You mean the Hobbit series?” you were disgruntled.
“Yeah those. I didn’t realize you were a nerd,” he nudged you.
“What of it? All of those are great movies. I have copies of the Hobbit series if you ever wanted to watch them,” you offered.
“Do you wanna watch them with me?” he perked up.
“Sure, I love them! You wanna do a marathon? It’ll take up a full day though,” you warned.
“I’m down. Are you free this Sunday?”
“I believe so.”
“Great! I’m excited to see you geek out over hobbits. Okay kids, naptime!”
Tumblr media
You drove up to Taehyung’s place Sunday morning, you weren’t kidding when you said it would take all day. Taehyung said to dress comfortably so you showed up in your sweatpants and oversized college tee. He answered the door wearing gray sweatpants and his favorite CELINE shirt. His dark fluffy hair fell over his forehead and was almost long enough to cover his eyes.
“Good morning! I hope you’re hungry. I made some waffles to eat while we watch the first movie,” he greeted you.
His humble abode smelled heavenly as the scent of dough tinged with a hint of cinnamon wafted through the air. The soft belgian waffles were delicious as they practically melted in your mouth. Taehyung asked a ton of questions with nearly every scene, but you didn’t mind. You were happy to flex your knowledge of Tolkien lore.
Hours later, you found yourself cuddled up with Taehyung as the final credits of the Battle of Five Armies began to roll. Taehyung was still trying to process everything that happened as he asked you clarifying questions about each character.
“Well crap, now I’m sad,” he pouted.
“Yeah, the ending is kind of a downer, but that’s what makes it so good! The Lord of the Rings has a happy ending if that makes you feel better,” you look up at him from his chest.
“You look cute like that,” he observed.
“Like what? Tiny from your angle?” you tilted your head.
“I guess so? Tiny, maybe submissive,” Taehyung’s voice lowered with his suggestion.
“Submissive? Is that how you see me?” you sit back up completely with defiance.
“Not at all. You’re pretty feisty, which is why making you be submissive is even more alluring,” he raised his eyebrow in a suggestive manner.
“Do you want me to be a damsel in distress for you? Not happening,” you smirked.
“Pretty princesses are good for one thing,” Taehyung hopped off the couch.
Before you could say anything, he promptly grabbed you and swung you over his shoulder. You were too shocked by his boldness and physical abilities to retaliate.
“They’re perfect for kidnapping!” he let out a dramatic evil laugh as he carried you off to his bedroom.
Once there, he roughly threw you on the bed. You couldn’t help but look around curiously since this was the first time you’ve ever seen his room. It was surprisingly neat; his bed was made and there were no messy clothing piles in sight.
“Are you an evil dragon then? Capturing princesses and such?” you teased.
“Evil dragon, dashing captor, I can be anything you want me to be. Just please not an orc,” he let out a chuckle before getting back into character, “Just know that you’re trapped here with me. No one is going to rescue you.”
“Oh no! What a terrible situation to be in! What on Earth is this extremely handsome dragon going to do with a poor defenseless princess like me?” you taunted.
“Ok this is all very hot but before we go any further, are you okay with this?” Taehyung asked sincerely.
“I can’t think of anything that I’ve wanted more,” you nodded.
“Perfect. Safe word is red,” he winked at you, “Now strip for me, princess.”
“And if I don’t?” you challenged.
Taehyung grabbed a fistful of hair on the back of your head and forcefully brought you up to his face, “I suggest not making me angry,” he sneered.
You didn’t think you were one for being manhandled, but god damn that was hot. There was already a tingle between your legs and he hadn’t even really touched you yet. You complied with his request, and quickly tore off your shirt and pants. Though you weren’t wearing any fancy lingerie, you were wearing a gray bra and gray panties that could pass off as matching.
“Mmm what a pretty treasure. It would be a shame to let it gounappreciated,” Taehyung stretched out that last word as he gently ran his fingers from your torso up to your neck before firmly grasping it.
Taehyung straddled you as his long fingers were wrapped around your neck. Slowly, he leaned down to kiss you. Though apprehensive at first, he gradually got more bold with it. His tongue dipped into your mouth the instant your lips parted. His other hand crept under your bra to fondle your breast.
“You take your clothes off too,” you said as soon as the kiss broke.
“You don’t get to make any demands, silly princess,” Taehyung shook his head.
You pouted and reached out to tug at his pants anyway. Big mistake. Taehyung slapped your hand away and slammed you back onto the bed.
“You don’t listen, huh? I’ll have to do something about that. Stay still or else you’ll make things worse for yourself,” he ordered.
You reluctantly obeyed, partly because you were curious about what he was going to do, and partly because you were actually intimidated by him. He returned back to the bed a few seconds later, but with a familiar silky red belt in hand.
“Give me your hands. Good girl,” he smiled deviously as he bound them together, “Remember the safe word is red, okay?” he gently reminded you.
He looked down at you with a satisfied grin as he began to take off his sweatpants. He had an obvious bulge in his underwear that outlined his massive dick. You were further entranced by his physique when he took off his shirt. He wasn’t ripped, but he was still fit, as you could plainly see when his chest was finally revealed.
“Open wide, princess,” he demanded.
You opened your mouth, and even flattened your tongue out a little bit for him. He pulled his cock out of his underwear, finally exposing his full length. You doubted you could fit even half of him in your mouth, but at this point it wasn’t up to you.
Taehyung lowered himself down to you, and teasingly tapped the tip of his cock on your tongue. He slowly eased himself into your mouth, forcing you to open your mouth even wider to account for his girth. He made his way back out once you gagged. He grabbed your head to hold you steady as he fucked your mouth once more. He got closer and closer to the back of your throat until he finally hit it. All you could focus on was breathing as tears welled up in your eyes. Taehyung thrusted a couple more times before he pulled out completely.
“Good girl indeed. Well done, princess,” he softly stroked your chin before wiping your tears away. All you could do was smile meekly back at him.
“Don’t worry, it’s time for your reward,” Taehyung smiled down at you as his hand slipped under your panties, “Oh you’re so wet. I can’t wait to taste you.”
He positioned himself between your thighs after he tore off your panties. His thumb fiddled with your clit, causing you to squirm. He placed a strong grip on your thigh to hold you down as he circled your clit faster. Your helpless whimpers were music to Taehyung’s ears.
Without warning, he easily stuck two fingers into you. He didn’t even let you adjust as he rapidly fingered you, his fingers curving to graze your g-spot with every stroke. His tongue swirled around your clit, adding even more toe curling sensations.
Him adding a third finger was the catalyst for the strongest orgasm you’ve ever had in your life. There wasn’t even a build up, everything just hit you at once. Suddenly you were crying out even louder as you violently came. Did it occur to you that you were squirting all over Taehyung and his bed? No. Were you doing exactly that? Absolutely.
“Delicious,” Taehyung said as he licked his lips, “Look at the fucking mess you made.”
“I-i’m sorry,” you managed to stutter, you were still recovering from your orgasm.
“It’s only fair that it’s my turn to make a mess now. Do I need to get a condom, princess?” he cooed.
You weakly shook your head. You needed to feel all of him, right now. Taehyung chuckled at your neediness as he aligned himself with your pussy. He slowly inserted his entire length into you until the base of his cock touched your soaked pussy. You moaned together as he stayed still for a second. You looked up to see Taehyung’s face lit up with pure bliss.
“You’re still so fucking wet,” he growled as he began to mercilessly buck his hips into you.
You moaned with every thrust as Taehyung shook the entire bed. Taehyung placed both of your legs on his shoulders, allowing him to hit you even deeper from this new angle. He leaned over to plant his lips on your neck as he fucked you. What started as a gentle peck took a violent turn as he harshly sucked on your neck. He left dark spots wherever his lips touched, and soon you were covered in dark blooms.
“Do you want me to soil your back or your chest?” he asked in a guttural tone.
“Back?” you answer dubiously.
You were immediately flipped over. You were laying flat on your chest waiting for him to prop up your ass, but he never did. Instead, he simply spread your legs wider and fucked you flat against the bed. Taehyung grabbed your ass and spread your cheeks to get a better view of your sopping pussy. You could feel another orgasm brewing as he fucked even deeper into you, and his cock was continuously dragging against your g-spot.
“Taehyung, I--”
“I know, princess. Let it all out. I want to feel you come on my dick,” he demanded.
A few more strong strokes was all it took for you to go limp under him as your orgasm took over. Seconds after you hit your high, Taehyung pulled out and came all over your back.
Once you were all cleaned up, Taehyung untied you and kissed your forehead.
“How was it, princess?” he asked as he stroked your hair.
“I’ve never been fucked by a beast before, but now I don’t want anything else,” you admitted before kissing his neck.
“Good. I was worried about going overboard. As I told you before, I really like getting into character,” he laughed.
“I’ve never been into roleplay but I’m willing to change for you. Oh shit, it’s late already,” you noticed the time on his alarm clock.
“Just stay the night. I don’t think the kids will care if you’re wearing sweatpants or not. I can lend you a turtleneck to cover up those hickies though,” Taehyung yawned.
“Are you sure?” you questioned.
“Yeah, I don’t mind. Be warned, I’m a cuddler,” he pulled you closer to him.
“I guess I can sleep in a little later then,” you reasoned.
“Perfect. Goodnight, princess,” he quickly kissed your lips.
“You’re sleeping like that?”
“Like what?”
“Butt naked?”
“I can put clothes on if it makes you uncomfortable. I just figured it would make things easier for tomorrow morning,” he said sleepily.
“Tomorrow morning?” that got your attention.
“You’ll see! Be patient, princess. Night night.”
Never in a million years would you have guessed that applying for a babysitting job would result in this, but you weren’t complaining.

Guys Like You Chapter 4
Title: Guys Like You
Chapter: 4
Chapter Summary: It’s not a date, but I’m totally calling it a date in my head
Rating: 18+ for later chapters
Warnings: Mentions of blood
{Prologue} {Chapter 1} {Chapter 2} {Chapter 3}
So, what are the odds of getting an entire day just canceled? Like, everyone just collectively agrees to go back to bed and skip the entire day for the good of mankind? Or at the very least for the good of one very tired single mother?
Briar had a bad dream the night before and came flying into her room just after midnight. Then the little girl had curled up against her mother in a way that had Faye contorted into an odd position, which led to the backache of the century.
Combine that with Briar's constant rolling and kicking and she also didn't sleep worth crap. Her alarm going off that morning sounded less like a happy little chime to welcome in the day, and more like execution bells leading her to her death. Naturally Briar had hopped straight up, entirely too happy to greet the day, and bounded off to plunder the kitchen for snacks. Faye on the other hand, ended up calling set to let them know she wasn't feeling well enough to come in.
Sometime around eleven in the morning she was met with horrific stomach cramps that had her wondering just what she had eaten the day before. Nothing Briar hadn't eaten, and she seemed just fine. Was this how she dies? A bleak implosion on an unassuming Thursday? Was she really going to go out like this?
It was during her next trip to the bathroom that she realized it probably wasn't death coming for her, the cramps were more likely caused by her monthly visitor showing up to kick her while she was down. Weird, usually she didn't really get cramps. Figures she would get stuck with this mess today. Now her back hurt, her stomach hurt, her head hurt, she felt like a walking zombie, and upon further inspection, she was a tired hurting zombie that had forgotten to replenish her supplies after Briar had mistaken them for candy and stickers. Just what she wanted, a trip to the store while she felt like death, with an energetic threenager in tow.
Half an hour of wrestling with Briar to get dressed and actually put on pants later, her phone started going off. That was when she remembered inviting Henry over for dinner that night under the guise of "wanting to try a new recipe and needing another adult to try it". In all honesty she was just trying to lure him back. She'd gotten a taste of having him around and found herself quickly becoming addicted. In truth, it was a recipe she had mastered while she was pregnant with Briar but hadn't made in a while. What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him, right?
Unfortunately, it was looking like she was going to have to postpone their "it's not a date but I'm totally calling it a date in my head" for another time. A time when her body didn't feel like it was imploding and when she had slept for more than twelve minutes. A time when she could feasibly pounce and possibly even have a reason to break into the unopened box in her bedside drawer. It had been a going away gift from her sister when she had moved to England, with the explicit instructions to "go and getting that English dick" or something. It had been ten months and she still hadn't opened it. Turns out having a child that you are responsible for running around your house can take a toll on your sex life.
"Hey, Henry." Faye sighed, hitting the speakerphone button and setting the phone on her bed to grab something for herself to wear.
"Hello, Miss Warren. I must have missed you on set today." Ugh, ever since Mrs. Anderson had called her that, he had been a dog with a bone.
"No, I wasn't in today." Faye sighed, grabbing an old ratty bra to throw on along with her "I give up" sweats.
"Did you have the day off?"
"No, I'm just not feeling great. Sorry I didn't call you earlier. I hope you haven't left yet, Briar and I need to run to the store."
"I'm already on my way." Henry informed. "I can grab whatever you need, I'm already out after all."
"I need pads and tampons, Henry. I doubt that's too high up on your list of things you wanted to go shopping for today." Faye sighed, digging her knuckles into her lower back to try and relax the knotted muscles.
"Anything else?" Wait, seriously?
"Not that I need right now?" Why was that a question? Was this some vivid hallucination or something?
"Alright, I should be to your house in about half an hour."
"Uhh... yeah... see you then. Just let yourself in if I don't answer the door, I may be sobbing hysterically into my rubber duckie." Faye really needed to have a talk with that voice in her head that keeps her from saying or doing anything weird. It seems to have gone strangely MIA in the last few months.
"The toddler won't attack me if I walk in, will she?"
"She'll probably be in the bathroom reminding me I'm naked every few seconds."
"She did seem to enjoy that the last time I was over."
"You have no idea."
"I'll see you in a bit, enjoy your bath." Yeah, right. Who wants to bleed into their bathwater?
Naturally, her hyperactive daughter followed her into the bathroom, pointing out everything she could as her mother tried to shower. "Mommy, you look like a tiger!" "Mommy, you have a big butt!" "Mommy, when will I get boobies like yours?" "Mommy, you're nakie!" "Mommy, do you have a boo boo on your butt?" "Mommy, when do I get pictures on me like you have?" "Mommy, are you in the shower?" "Mommy, why are you nakie in the shower?"
Briar, her little womb nugget. Her angel. Her reason for getting up most mornings. The light of her life. The fountain of endless questions.
"Henry! You're back!" Briar gasped from the other side of the curtain, the sound of her little feet on the tile letting Faye know she had left her station at the edge of the tub to greet their guest. "Mommy has stripes, I'll show you!"
"No! No, that's ok." Henry quickly deflected, snatching her up in his free arm before she could scurry back to the curtain. Once was enough of that for right now. It had taken her mother almost a week to look him in the eye after that day. It had taken him almost as long to tear his eyes from her backside every time she turned away. It wasn't even like he was actively trying to stare, his gaze just kept being pulled to it like a magnet. If she caught his rubbernecking however, she never let him know.
"But she's a  tiger! RAWR!" Briar giggled.
"I can hear you!" Faye grouched.
"I'll leave this on the sink for you. I forgot to ask exactly what you wanted, so I grabbed a lot of options." Henry called over the sound of the water. "Briar, why don't you show me how you make that tea again?"
He must be an alien. That was the most obvious explanation for him. Guys like him don't make the dreaded tampon run. Especially unprompted. He does realize he's too damn pretty to have to do such things, right? They also don't entertain your tiny clone for you to give you a moment's peace. Nope, he's clearly an alien. The MIB would be by any minute to wipe her mind.
When Faye finally put away the veritable stockpile she had been graced with and redressed herself, she wandered back to her living room, half expecting fire and mild chaos. She wasn't expecting to find Henry reading a Greek Mythology book to her overly fascinated daughter.
"The minotaur! Oh no!" Briar squealed excitedly when he turned the page, a depiction of the beast staring back at her.
"Don't worry, little one. You see that man? His name is Theseus, and he takes care of that mean minotaur." Henry soothed.
"Snaps his neck actually." Faye provided, curling up at the other end of the couch.
"Oh, you're familiar with the story?" Henry chuckled.
"Who's book do you think that is?"
"Just because you own it, doesn't mean you've read it." Henry pointed out.
"Those were my bedtime stories. Now Briar keeps wanting me to read them to her at night too."
"A little mythology nerd in the making." Henry chuckled, poking the toddler's side, making her squeal in delight.
"Books are for nerds!" Briar declared, snatching the book from Henry's hands and racing down the hallway.
"Yeah, don't even ask me what that was about." Faye sighed, shaking her head at her daughter.
"Feeling better?"
"Feeling more human." Faye forced out around a stifled yawn.
"Why don't you lie down and rest? I'm pretty sure I can keep Briar entertained and manage something for you guys to eat."
"You don't have to, Hen. You've already done so much." Faye declined, pushing herself up and mentally steeling herself for the meal prep she had ahead of her.
"Nope." Henry quickly interjected, popping up from the couch and snatching Faye up like she weighed nothing, ignoring her surprised squeal. "You're laying down, I've got this." He insisted, replacing her on the couch.
"Henry!"
"What? Don't think I can handle one toddler? Do you forget I have nieces and nephews? I'm sure one child will be a breeze for an hour or two."
"You don't know my daughter." Faye mumbled.
"I'll handle it. I had to go all morning without my favorite artist. If watching Briar for a little while means you'll be back tomorrow, I'm game."
Clearly someone forgot to inform him he was an incredibly attractive, successful actor. Faye decided she should catch some rest while she could, just in case someone decided to let him in the loop within the next hour or so.

world state: refresh, chapter two
Last chapter: “—From the description, it’s basically the same as the synopsis of your run of the mill VRMMORPG anime, except the virtual games are real worlds.”
“Sure, but if they’re real worlds, then what does being a Game Master mean?”
Shen Yuan grins down at him.
“Hey, Airplane,” he says. “How do you feel about being an actual god?” [Read ch. 1]
“Oh, yaaawn!” She throws herself back onto the plush surface behind her and stretches her arms above her head. “Man, what a chore! Hey, Dorazou, make a note to always double check the Mission Rating before accepting an Assignment in the future. No way in hell am I gonna be doing that again!”
“AwRAWRight!” The tiny avatar cheers, pumping a little red scaled fist into the air. “Reminder set! Hey, Host, if it’s any consolation, this system thinks you totally aced it!”
“Hmm,” she crosses her arms and stars at the collection of screens that have popped into existence before her. “The mission grading will be the judge of that. Let’s see, here…. Oh, awesome! I earned a double S score! You know what that means!”
Dorazou gives another little roar cheer that sounds more like a kitten's mew than anything. Ah, so cute! “Host may close her next Assignment! Congratulations!”
The agent gathers her hair up into a loose and messy bun at the top of her head, breathing out a sigh of relief. “Awesome. Let’s choose something easy, why don’t we? That last world was only an A-rank, but it gave me a lot more trouble than I bargained for. It should have been labeled at least S-tank! Dorazou, bring up all available Assignments. B-rank or lower only, please!”
“Gotcha!” The tiny dragon-themes sprite gives a little twirl, it’s clunky arms flailing adorably. “Assignment list set to: Easy!”
“Perfect, thanks! Let’s take a look, now… Otome-world…. Fantasy style cooking show star, haha. I have zero talent in that area, so please decline it for me, Dorazou…. Another Knights Order needs a Pure Heavenly Maiden for such and such ritual, ah, that honestly just sounds so sinister, decline! And here we have yet another otome assignment, damn. These things are such pests. Oh, what’s this?”
Sitting up, the agent leans in and peers closely at the screen, eyes bright in excitement. “Hey, Dorazou! This one calls for a team of agents!”
“That is correct!” Dorazou says, beaming. The dragon floats up to sit comfortably on the girl’s shoulder. “System Agents 74 and 81 have put in a request for additional manpower in the Game Master Assignment for World-120MAX. If Host accepts, she and four other agents will be tasked with working under the leadership of Agent 74 in creating and managing a Game World.”
She tilts back again, kicking her legs up into the air with some excitement. “What’s the deadline?”
Dorazou is quiet for a moment as it studies the screens. It gives a hearty cheer and pats the agent on the head. “No deadline! Host will remain on Agent 74’s GM Team until it is decommissioned by the Team itself!”
She jumps off the beanbag entirely to float up into the air, catching the little dragon sprite and hugging it to her chest. “Awesome! So it’s basically a neverending paid vacation, if we want it to be? That totally rocks! Dorazou, we lucked out with this one!”
“AwRAWRight!” The tiny system cheers, looping its scaly arms around her neck in a hug. “Is Host choosing this Assignment, then?”
“As if I’d ever turn down a chance like this! System Agents hardly ever get to work together! Dorazou, please confirm my acceptance!”
“Assignment chosen! Does Host wish to rest in the home space before starting?”
“Nah, I’m way too pumped now,” she clenches her fists and grins. “Dorazou, let’s go meet our new friends!”
“RAWR! World-120MAX loading! Twenty-eight percent! Fifty-percent! Eighty-three percent! World load complete! Entering database now!”
The agent grins as she dissolves into light. This is gonna be sweet!
“Nice to meet you! My name is Myra Khol, System Agent 23! I’m here for the Game Master Team Assignment!”
“The what?” The boy says, expression just positively befuddled as it has been when she’s first loaded into the world, and Myra tilts her head in slight confusion. Has this guy never met another agent before?
She hops down from the tree and steps over to him, a little surprised when he takes a step back in return. Man, this guy is shy! How cute!
“Wait a minute, did you just say ‘System’?” The boy straightens up, his eyes going even wider than they’d already been. “Does that mean you are also a transmigrator?”
“What else would I be?” Myra huffs out with some bemusement. “You guys clearly haven’t put any people in this world yet, so the only ones you’d be seeing are yourselves or another agent.”
“Agent…” the boy echoes, holding the fan up to his lips in thought. It’s an endearing gesture, something so old fashion being slightly out of place with the futuristic fantasy design of the boy’s outfit, and yet it still somehow fits him.
Myra blinks at him, and then decides to take pity. From the looks of it, this kid is a noob at the job. She remembers when that had been her. The good old days!
“Didn’t your Systems explain it to you guys yet?” She asks.
At her words, the boy’s expression darkens. “The System? No. Why would the System explain anything?”
Oh. That sounded like anger, there. Myra reaches out a hand and nervously scoots her precious Dorazou over until it’s hidden behind her back. The little dragon makes a tiny noise of confusion, but goes along with it.
The boy narrows his eyes at her action. “Speaking of systems… is that one yours?”
“Um, well,” Myra coughs. “Yes? But! Dorazou is such a sweet little thing! Wouldn’t harm a fly! Please take care of it!”
The boy looks confused. “Wouldn’t harm a fly! Have you never been threatened with Punishment Protocol?”
Myra gapes, aghast. “No! That’s reserved for triple S class worlds on the highest difficulty setting! Why would an Assignment like that be given to newbie agents?”
The boy stares at her, face pale.
“Oh.” Myra presses her hands over her mouth, staring at him in horror. “I mean, I’ve heard it happening only once. Someone being given an extreme-difficulty Assignment for their very first world. It was basically an impossible mission, but she luckily managed to complete it successfully. The Assignment Parameter glitch that led to it was suppose to have been fixed since then, though. Are you really saying…?”
The boy lets out a weak sounding laugh, bowing his head. He rubs the back of his arm across his eyes, and Myra feels something in her chest ache at the sight. These two agents… they’ve really been through the wringer, haven’t they?
Clearing her throat hesitantly, she asks, “The Assignment said there were two agents behind the request. Since you’re here, where’s your partner?”
“He’s on the other side of the Level, touching up on some persistent glitches that are occurring in quadrant five,” the boy releases an aggravated sigh. Then, he glances at Myra in surprise. “Oh, I haven’t introduced myself yet, have I? My name is Shen Yuan, it’s really nice to meet you.”
Myra grins back at him, relieved. “Is it? For a moment there, I thought you weren’t happy to see me.”
“Are you kidding?” Shen Yuan laughs again, and this one is much lighter. It suits him way better than the faintly grieved sound from before. “I am ecstatic to meet you. It’s nice to know that we’re not as alone as we thought. Here, I’ll take you to my… partner. He should be about finished by now.”
Myra bounces onto her toes in excitement. She grabs Dorazou by the tail and troops after Shen Yuan when the boy turns his back and begins to walk away.
“Man, not being given a tutorial world really sounds like it sucked,” Myra says, side eyeing her new teammate as she comes up beside him.
Shen Yuan has an odd smile on his face when he replies. “It was… definitely something, yes.”
“You want me to lodge a complaint with Management?” She asks, a pinch of worry between her brows. “If all three of us do it, they’ll have to take another look at the glitch and make double sure that it doesn’t happen to anyone else.”
Shen Yuan is quiet for a long while as they walk along the quaint little dirt path. The silence stretches into minutes, and Myra decides to leave him to his thoughts, because it looks like he’s pondering something pretty deep.
She busies herself with checking out their surroundings as they move along. Shen Yuan has called this area the Level, and she’s assuming it’s the first of its kind, and therefore intended to be the Starting Area for the Players when they enter into this world. She’s done her reading while loading into the Assignment, so she’s fairly confident in her ability to assist Shen Yuan and his partner with whatever sort of administration work they need help with. So far though, from what she’s seeing, the two of them are actually off to a really good start. One or both of them must have some sort of experience in world building.
What a perfect Assignment for them, if that’s the case.
Especially if what Shen Yuan says is true, and he really had suffered through a triple S class of extreme difficulty for what was suppose to be their tutorial world. He really deserves a paradisal vacation such as this, where he can recuperate from the troubles he’d faced.
“It shouldn’t have happened in the first place,” Shen Yuan finally says, voice so quiet that Myra wouldn’t have heard it if the rest of the world around them wasn’t dead silent. It seems the audiosphere hasn’t been set up, yet.
Myra glances over to her side, and finds Shen Yuan staring down at the ground with a frown on his pretty face. His hands are clenched into fists at his sides.
“You said they already patched the glitch, so it shouldn’t have happened. They — whoever they are — clearly didn’t do their job.”
Myra bites her lip, and hugs a strangely quiet Dorazou to her chest. “Yeah, so we should file a complaint, right? And we can get the rest of the team on board with it, too, once they get here. I’m sure they’ll agree, too.”
“The rest of the team?” Shen Yuan asks, frown still present. He flicks his wrist, and the fan opens with a sharp snap and a skillful flourish. Myra stares at the action in awe. So refined! So graceful! And the fan itself was exquisite.
“I’m sorry, could you elaborate on the… Assignment Parameters you mentioned before? Xiao Lei and I just needed help, and the system said we’d have it. It didn’t explain what that help was, or where it would come from.”
Xiao Lei must be the other agent, Shen Yuan’ partner. Myra files the name away and directs a bright smile in the direction of her new teammate.
“Sure thing! Basically, your request generated a new Assignment in the listings for agents. It asks for five agents to form a team directly under you and your partner, though Agent 74 is suppose to be the team leader. That wouldn’t happen to be you, would it?”
Shen Yuan blinks at her, before his frown returns in full force. It looks faintly irritated this time, and the boy calls out, “System, what is my, uh, Agent number?”
There’s a faint sound of static, before a slightly stilted and robotic voice replies, “Host is filed as Agent 81.”
Myra glances down to see a Siamese cat, tail poised elegantly in the air and ears perked upright, weaving between Shen Yuan’s every step like a ghost. The cat glances up at her and blinks it’s bright blue eyes at her with an indifferent gaze.
“Oh, is that your System? It’s so cute!” She squeals.
The cat glances away from her, and Shen Yuan huffs.
“It’s an absolute snob, is what it is,” the boy refutes.
His system doesn’t look back up, and Myra feels a little bad for it, but…. Well, she supposed, if she’s been trapped in an SSS-rank hell world for her first Assignment, she might have some resentment toward her system, too.
She clutched Dorazou to her chest at the terrible thought, and is comforted when the little dragon spite turns around to nuzzle her back. It seems she’s really lucked out, huh?
“Does your system have a name?” She asks, scratching Dorazou behind the ear.
“Does it need one?” Shen Yuan asks coldly.
Myra cringes, glancing down at the aloof-looking cat that darts between his legs. It doesn’t even twitch at the way that it’s host speaks about it, and Myra decides to change the subject least the air becomes too awkward.
“So, um, I guess your partner is the designated team leader, then!” She tries, her smile fixed in place.
Shen Yuan shrugs. He flutters the pretty fan in front of his face and holds his other arm behind his back. He looks like some sort of regal young master of an ancient dynasty, with a posture like that. Myra wonders what the setting of his last world had been. Imperial court drama, perhaps? That sort of plot was almost always a guaranteed S rank.
“It suits him,” Shen Yuan says. “He has the most experience in creating worlds, so I guess I’d follow his lead even if he wasn’t the boss. Though, I’ll definitely be there to advise him, so he doesn’t get too carried away.”
“Carried away?” Myra wonders.
“It happens, sometimes.” Shen Yuan grimaces. “If it’s true that we’ll be a team, then I’ll be counting on you to keep an eye on him, as well.”
“Yes, of course!” Myra is a little confused, but Shen Yuan obviously knows his partner best, so she’ll take his words to heart. She salutes him. “You can definitely rely on me for that!”
This gets her a faint smile, and she inwardly cheers. This boy is surprisingly difficult to get a response out of. Myra hasn’t met someone like him in a long time.
Suddenly, Shen Yuan pulls to a stop, and gestures ahead of them. “We’re here,” he says, and then sighs. “Looks like he’s not finished… I wonder….”
Myra looks ahead of them, to see a huge structure looming in the distance. The forest they’ve been strolling through has given way to an open plain, grasslands mixed with an opaque sandy desert. A few hundred meters away sits a hulking building, which in closer examination is not a building at all, but in fact some sort of autonomous being. It’s collapsed on its side, limbs askew, a central panel of its torso gaping open to allow its mechanical insides to be strewn about throughout the grass and sand around it. There’s faint noises of metal hitting against metal coming from within it, and when Myra squints, she can just make out a tiny figure perched on the very edge of the thing’s opened chassis.
Shen Yuan takes a step forward, and Myra keeps back. He closes his fan with a satisfying clack and slips it into the pocket of his shorts, and then cups his hands around his mouth. “Hey, Shang Lei! Come here!”
Oh, so the other agent’s name was Shang Lei, not Xiao Lei.
Myra pokes at her lip in thought as she watches the distant figure poke it’s head up out of the mechanical innards of whatever creature they were tinkering around inside of. Shen Yuan, Shang Lei… those names both sound pretty Chinese to her. And in Chinese, Xiao is often used as a diminutive or an endearment. So, this must mean that Shen Yuan and Shang Leo are actually very close friends, right? Myra covers her smile with a hand.
Due to context gathered from Shen Yuan's earlier words, it must also be likely that they were partners in their last world. Meaning that Shang Lei also experienced what was, in layman’s terms, called a Hell Assignment. And it is likely that the Hell Assignment was also Shang Lei’s first Assignment, given that Shen Yuan has no idea about a lot of System Agent common sense.
If they were partners all this time, if Shang Lei had previous transmigration experience, he’d have schooled his partner on it by now. And yet, Shen Yuan was ignorant of a lot of things.
Myra presses both her palms to her cheeks and sighs quietly as she watches Shang Lei approach them. Shen Yuan has stepped up to meet him, but she can clearly see the hesitant way that Shang Lei holds himself, the wary way that he eyes her. The way that he slides himself into the shadow of Shen Yuan’s barely taller stature when he realizes she’s looking back at him.
She sighs in her heart, as well, and clutches Dorazou in one arm like a teddy bear. Her system pays her on the hand.
“—apparently posted an assignment asking for other agents to come and lend us a hand.” Shen Yuan is explaining quietly to his partner — his friend. He gestures at her with a hand. “This is Myra Khol, the first one to accept the mission.”
Myra steps forward the smallest step she can take without it seeming like she’s wary of them, too. It still makes Shang Lei duck even further behind Shen Yuan. She does not let it dim her smile.
“Hi, I’m Myra, System Agent 23! I’m pleased to meet you, boss!”
Shang Lei peeks out from behind his friend with wide eyes. There’s a complicated expression on his face.
“... Nice to meet you, too,” he mumbles, and curls back behind Shen Yuan as soon as the last word is out.
That is it! Myra has decided! She will help these two to the best of her abilities, not because it’s the Assignment, but because she wants to!
Dorazou! Edit Assignment self parameters!
[[Host!]]
The dragon sprite makes a soft noise from within her grasp. She sees the way that Shang Lei’s eyes dart down to it, and the frown that graces his face as he glances shyly back toward her with an expression that almost looks faintly concerned. For her. And given the fact that it’s very possible that Shang Lei’s opinion of systems is the same as Shen Yuan’s, due to their not-so-great past experiences, the look that he’s sending her now makes Myra’s heart melt.
[[Assignment parameters, self edit mode!]]
Myra’s smile broadens.
Take care of Agent 74 and Agent 81! Priority!

Humans are Space Orcs, “They Will Eat You.”
“RAWR! I am a hungry human and I’m going to eat your face off and wear your skin as a coat!”
“No, stop, you’re scaring me.”
Footsteps and the older Tesraki chases her younger brother into the other room.
He is screaming “Stop! Stop! It’s not funny.”
She pulls to a stop but grins at him, an unnatural facial expression for a tesraki. He squirms away from her, “b-besides. H-Humans don’t eat people.”
She stalks forward, “Oh they don’t do they. Because My teacher told us that humans are MADE to hunt and eat people. They have binocular vision so they can more easily POUNCE!” She lunged for him and he squealed rolling away.
“And they can smell too. They can detect chemicals in the air so like they can probably smell your ear.” She stalked closer, and he backed away.
“No they can’t.” He whined
She held up her hands, “Oh yes they can, and they have razor sharp claws that they can use to RIP YOU OPEN!” She lunged at him again and he screamed running away.
“Stop.”
She pulled to a halt, “Plus, humans are so fast and strong that they run their prey to death just to mess with them, so even if you try to run away from a human it wont work. And AND they always hunt in packs so you want to get away anyway.” She leaned in closer, “And once they have you, they’ll cut you into little chunks and then light your bits on fire before eating them. Then they’ll take your skin and wear it.”
“MOM!”
“Shhh! I am a human, so if you scream ill bite your throat out with these razor sharp bones that grow through the skin in my mouth.” She raced after him again.
He kept screaming.
“Even if you manage to get away my bite is so dangerous, you’ll get sick and die!” She skidded to a halt with him trapped in the corner, “Plus humans can breathe acid you know.”
“No they can't, you’re just making that up.”
“No, I’m serious. Their bodies produce some of the strongest acid we know of, and they cant regurgitate it.”
“Ewww, please stop.”
She ignored him, “And with their predatory instincts, they don't hesitate to RIP YOUR HEAD CLEAN OFF!”
He screamed even louder.
“Paxi! What are you doing to your brother?”
She turned around her large ears drooping in guilt, “Nothing.”
Her father pulled his ears back, “Paxi, stop telling scary stories to your brother. Humans aren’t going to eat him.”
Her ears pulled back, “But my teacher.”
“Your teachers is a paranoid specialist. Need I remind you that it was humans that came in for disaster relief when the earthquake happened, They went into the wreckage and carried the injured out in their arms and on their backs. A lot of humans died that day to save members of our species.”
She frowned and looked at her brother whispering, “They’re strong enough to carry dad over their heads.”
“Paxi stop that. Humans may be a predator species, but they don’t eat aliens, and they certainly don’t rip people open with their teeth. They are too advanced for that. Not to mention that humans are omnivores, which means they are likely to eat more plants and other products than they do meat.” he walked over and picked up her little brother, “Why did you have to do this the day before we go into the city.” He sighed, “honestly paxi, he is going to be scared the entire time.”
She cocked her head, “Why.”
Her father sighed, “Because sometimes humans come to visit the city for trade. The UNSC has a docking station there which means humans SOLDIERS.”
She looked up at her brother, “That means the most dangerous humans.”
He squealed and hid his face.
Her father sighed.
***
He glanced around nervously clutching his mother’s hand. She dragged him along in frustration. He had been like this all day, hyper-vigilant and nervous looking for any sign of a human. Expecting one to pounce at them from the dark corners of an alley.
“Come on Timor. Try to keep up.”
The walked into one of the shops, and he was momentarily distracted by some trinkets left out on the shelves. His sister had gone off with their dad to look at something. His mother sighed, “Alright Timor, just stay here and look at the toys while I go pay for this.”
She walked off and he was left to happily look at the trinkets, when a voice rose up from beside him.
“Hey kid.”
He turned his head confused to find another Tesraki standing close by, “Those are pretty expensive you know.”
He sighed and wilted, “yeah, I know.”
“You know there is a shop just down the way that sells those for really cheap. I bet you'd have enough to buy it yourself.”
He lit up “Really!”  he was proud of the idea, his parents would be so happy that he found a good deal.
“How far away is it?”
“Oh just around the corner, here, I'll show you.” He motioned Timor closer, and the little tesraki followed.
It was just around the corner after all.
Of course about five corners later, and he --too late-- figured out that he did not know how to get back .
“I thought you said it was just around the corner.” He whined, growing more nervous by the second.
“Don’t worry, it's just here.”  He turned a corner with Timor following, and froze as he found himself in a tight dark alley.
“But where?”
A shadow passed behind him, and he turned his head to see an Iotin standing over him,  its long snakelike body blocking out the sun behind him, “Selling out your own species, Tesraki, that is a new low.”
The tesraki snorted, “I’d sell my own mother for the kind of credits your boss is willing to pay. Those Prodigum have more hunger than they have sense.”
He turned in a wide circle as a burg and some other Tesraki appeared from the shadows.
He was so scared, he tried to scream, but nothing came out. He tried to Run, But the Iotin caught him by the scruff and lifted him in one hand towards the sky.
“Don’t go running off little Tesraki. You wouldn’t want to spoil our pay, now would you. He tried to squeal again, but no sound came out.
The burg opened a large bag and began approaching.
That is when he heard a deafening roar.
The entire group yelled in surprise as a massive white and black shape leaped past them barreling the Burg to the ground.
The two of them went spinning across stone. When they came to a halt, the burg didn’t move, but the human straightened up and turned to look at them. It blinked one large green eye at them and bared its teeth.
This time Timor did manage to scream as the Iotin dropped him and tried slithering away.
It didn’t get far as it was hemmed in by another tall shape.
Large brown eyes narrowed.
Timor crawled to the side of the alley face hidden behind his hands.
Loud footsteps, and a massive blue shape appeared from around the corner end of the alley. The Drev held three Tesraki in her large arms throwing them flat to the cobbles.
“You should have stayed out of this human.” The Iotin snarled  raising a hand.
A rattling form above alerted Timor to at least ten other figures descending from above.
“Ten to five.” The human said its voice strangely melodic. It made an eerie sort of revving sound deep in it’s chest, “Those odds are almost laughable iotin.”
And then the brawl began
Timor tried to scoot away, but a burg caught sight of him, and thinking he could use the little Tesraki as a hostage, he grabbed for him
And was clobbered right in the side of the head.
It took timor a moment to figure out that it had been a human foot that knocked the Burg in the head.
The human hit the ground rolled and jumped back up again rattling the stone around them.
Timor screamed as a large arm grabbed him about the middle and spirited him off the ground.
The human held him closer pressing the small body tight against his chest as he dodged to the side of another iotan returning the favor with a powerful elbow to the face. He leaped forward rolling and tucking the Timor closer to his chest.
Timor rode out the roll pressed against the human protected from impact by the powerful corded muscle in the human’s chest and back, and the cage afforded to him by the creature’s harder-than-steel bones.
The fight was over almost as soon as it had started.
The human pulled out of the roll in a skid three limbs on the ground, one curled up around Timor.
The blue Drev stood from a crouched position and dusted off her hands, “Well, that was almost laughably easy.
The human that held Timor stood up flexing the muscles in his back and neck, “A pity, I was just getting warmed up.”
And that was when Timor started to cry -- or the tesraki equivalent.”
The human looked down at the little Tesraki large green eye relaxing from it’s narrowed state, “hey, hey, it's alright.”
“P-please d-don’t e-e-eat me/”
To his surprise the human cocked his head in confusion, “Eat you, ew, no. Why Would I want to do that?”
He looked up at the human pulling back his large ears.
The other humans had gathered around them.
“B, but my sister s-said that-”
One of the other humans laughed, “Your sister was trolling you kid. We don’t eat Tesraki.”
The human bared its teeth again, and Timor shied away, “You’re gonna rip my throat out with your face bones.”
More weird noises from the humans. The one eyed human made a face, “Gross. Why would I want to do that. Human’s don’t bite unless it's a self defense kid.” he opened his mouth, “See not razor sharp.”
The tesraki peered up at him and was surprised to find that…. Yeah while the human’s teeth were comparably sharp to other species, they were also….kind of lame.”
He examined them a bit closer.
“So… you’re not hunting for food?”
The human snorted, “Why hunt for food when Ican buy a bagel from a street cart.” He motioned back to the groaning bodies.” he motioned towards the groaning bodies on the ground, “We were hunting, but not for food.”
“You aren’t going to eat them.”
The human made a face, “Not if you paid me. “Now where are your parents.”
Timor began to cry again, “I don’t know.”
“Its ok,we’ll help you find them.” The human patted the tesraki on the head with his large hand.” The gesture was actually very soothing, and the human was warm. If what he was saying was true, than he felt very safe.
No one was going to mess with him if he had a pack of humans.
“Sunny,” He motioned to the Drev and then to the downed aliens, “Take out the trash will you.” The Drev lifted her head with a nod.
Timor looked up at the human as they walked from the alley. “Do you breathe acid.”
The human looked down at him with a bemused expression, “DoI do what? No…. well” he paused, “Not because I want to, and not in the fun way. Just…. No.”
Timor looked at him confused, “Where are your claws? Did someone cut them off?”
The human shook his head and held up a hand, “Nope, all i’ve got are fingernails.”
“Do you wear the skin of your enemies as clothing?”
“What! No I….” The human paused glancing down at the black jacket he was wearing. IT had a shiny sort of sheen to it.
Timor began to get very nervous.
The human shook his head, “No of course we don’t do that.”
He continued to ask questions, and was surprised to find that most of it wasn’t true at all. The human was actually very nice and helpful and empathetic and concerned, and he let Timor sit on his shoulders so he could better see above the crowd, “See them yet?” The human asked. Timor stood halfway, holding onto the human’s hair to get a better look.
The human tilted his head about the same time that Timor heard it.
“Timor! TIMOR! Where are you!”
“TIMOR!”
“That’s them!” He exclaimed.
Before he could direct the human further, the creature turned and began following the noise.
The voices grew louder, and finally he saw them frantically pushing through the crowd and calling his name.
“i’M HERE.” he shouted waving his hands and nearly falling before the human grabbed him.
“Timor!” His parents screamed in unison Pushing through the crowd and stopping dead in their tracks staring up at the human with wide eyes. HIs sister Paxi squealed and hid behind her parents.
He waved at them from his perch atop the human’s shoulders.
“It’s ok. He doesn't eat Tesraki.”
The human lifted Timor from his shoulders and set him down allowing him to run to his parents.
His father worked his jaw for a  moment before finding the words, “I suppose…. Thanks are in order.’
“Don’t thank me,but I'll watch him a bit more closely. Looks like slaves had lured him away.”
“Slavers!”
The human nodded gravely, “We caught them, and they are being detained, but I would still be careful.”
Timor ignored the adult conversation and pointed to the human looking at his sister, “This is my human friend Adam, and if you are mean to me again, he’s going to make you into boots.”
The human turned and frowned having heard him, “No one is getting turned into boots.” He turned back to Timor’s parents, “Anyway I should get going. Keep an eye on him.”
“Yes of course.” As the human was turning, they held out a hand, “What’s your name…. Who do we have to thank.”
The human glanced over his shoulder and waved a hand, “Don’t thank me. Thank the UNSC.”
And then he vanished into the crowd.

Trembles ran down your spine, cold sweat on your forehead and you kept checking everything was alright.
The number one hero was coming to your house in about 15 minutes and you felt like having a heart attack; not sure what would happen.
Yes, Izuku was one of the most attractive people you've ever encountered, but he wasn't him.
Yes, he was such a sweetheart, but then again, you weren't in high school anymore, holding hands and blushing at sweet is simply not a turn on.
You checked yourself in the mirror once again, straightening your skirt and applying gloss one more time.
DING!
The sound the doorbell startled you enough to get you out of your thoughts.
"Hey, Izu!" You greeted him at the door, stepping aside to let him in.
"Hello, love." He kissed you on the cheek, before making his way in "I brought a bottle  of wine, hope you aren't working tomorrow because tonight I plan passing out drunk, preferably on a comfy surface but if it´s next to you I guess the floor is okay." That comment made you giggle, but it also intensifies the anxiety.
"Sure, Izuku. Let's just have dinner first, okay?"
Time passed, after dinner, you decided to just watch a movie while drinking wine and just have small talk. You were laying on the couch, your head resting on Izuku´s lap while his fingers ran across your hair, massaging your scalp. You felt at ease, you couldn't deny it, the last few months had been rough, the heartache wasn't a pretty thing, and while writing did help, you couldn't push Katsuki out of your mind.
"Hey I have a question, I thought you and Todoroki were a thing after all those headlines and magazine covers where you appeared coming out of different clubs and bars the world was waiting for that ship to sail, also Katsuki told me you guys were a thing."
He snorted, "Kacchan told you that? Well, I'm not going to lie, there was more than a few times where things happened between me and Todoroko, but nothing serious." He took a big gulp out of the wine glass, tinting his lips a dark tone of red before continuing "Back when we were in UA while everyone was busy wondering if Uraraka and Bakugou were going to be a thing, I had little escapades of my own with icy-hot." He giggled, "Besides, it's no news that I'm not straight."
"Wait, are you serious? How come I didn't know that?"
"You must be oblivious if you didn't see me checking out Shinsou's ass in his new costume every time he came into the room while we were working." He giggled while scratching the back of his neck.
"Oh my god! I thought you guys just joked around like that, I'm such an idiot." You covered your face in shame while laughing, "So Midoriya Izuku, the number one hero, is also our number one gay hero."
"Well, yeah, I don't consider myself gay, but sure number one queer hero."
"I am sorry for not noticing it earlier if you don't know, I'm not good at taking a hint." This time you frowned, sorrow swallowing your heart and drowning you, once again, in a void.
"Why do you say that now?"
"Because I couldn't take a hint in the six months Katsuki and I were together that he wasn't over his ex-wife, don't know what I was thinking I could be with him, he has a family."
"Hey, hey, do not say that, if anything he's the one to blame. And while Uraraka is one of my best friends she can be quite obsessive when she wants something." You rolled your eyes at the comment, ha! If you didn't already know that. "Look, I saw it, we all did actually; I genuinely thought you guys were end game, but I guess not..."
"Thank you for being here tonight, I couldn't bear to be alone for any much longer." You mumbled, not sure why you were being so shy about it.
"Of course, I enjoy your company anyways Y/N." You pushed yourself up, this time your faces were just mere inches apart, and the beating of your heart increased, the blushing of your cheeks being a mix of alcohol and... lust? Your eyelids barely open, but the glossy look in your eyes shined bright in the tv glow.  "Y/N..."
"Izuku..:" You leaned in.
His lips were soft, warm and inviting, the feeling of his hands on your sides caressing your thighs was nice, and the smell of his essence filling your nostrils made your mouth water.  He slowly pushed you into his lap, the sweet kisses had turned into more aggressive ones, hands kneading your ass while grinding into you, his lips going down and sucking into your skin making it red and bruised. God, why does it feel so good? You thought. Your hands ran across his back, scratching his neck while allowing him to mark you down, your hips moved along him, his name came out of your lips along a series of moans Was it the alcohol in your body? Or just desire? No idea, but the pleasure was envigorating.
But you also knew that all of this only showed you how lonely have you been, how much you miss his love and his body next to yours. It wasn't Izuku, it was the feeling of him.
Replacing it might work at first, but just for a few months you might be happy but after that? Would it be worth a try?

Puyo Puyo PC-98 Manual Translation
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, in the age when the power of magic was bestowed upon the world, a powerful sorcerer created a great spell named "Owanimo." One of the strongest spells of all, it could banish monsters to a space between dimensions, but he sealed it away, recording it only in his "Book of Magic."
Not because it was forbidden knowledge or incredibly hard to use, but because to him, it seemed useless. And thus, the spell entered a dormant state, awaiting a day when a new sorcerer would come forth...
Tumblr media
Years came and went until finally, the seal came undone with the appearance of a great sorceress: Arle Nadja. One day, this auburn-haired girl with golden eyes came across the Book of Magic.
"Owanimo...?" Arle studied the chapter on forbidden spells for what seemed like hours. "When four monsters of the same color are in your sights, chant this spell loudly. The Goddess of Time shall listen, and whisk the monsters away to a space between dimensions."
Arle continued to read, learning the Owanimo spell, but then closed it with a heavy sigh once she finished.
Tumblr media
Why set it aside like that? Well, Arle had never seen "four monsters of the same color" as the spellbook described.
"I spent so much time reading, and it's not even a spell I can use for anything..."
But just as fate brought the Book of Magic into Arle's hands by chance, so it brought from the world of darkness the very monsters she had read about.
And thus, a great battle awaits. With her great magic abilities, and the newfound power of "Owanimo," Arle Nadja sets out to protect the world.

CHARACTERS A・C・P
Arle Nadja The protagonist of the game and the (aspiring) sorceress who released the spell "Owanimo". Nobody knows how she ended up this way, but despite looking like she wouldn't hurt a fly, she's actually a merciless girl that slaughters innocent Puyo. She currently attends a magic school, but she's already too scary for anything to stand in her way. That's my opinion, anyway.
Carbuncle During the game, when you find your eyes moving towards the center of the screen... Awww~! He's sleeping!!! This is Carbuncle. When he's lying still, he almost looks like a loaf of bread, but as he sings and dances he shows off a wide range of movement and facial expressions. A truly profound deuteragonist.
Puyo Puyo Despite their fate as short-lived, jelly-like monsters who are stacked and popped, they have managed to secure a leading role this time around, and even get to dance on the title screen. They're sure to enjoy this special opportunity to perform on a grand stage in five different colors. Looking at them with an empty stomach will reveal their appetizing nature and make you hungry. Hehe.
Arle, the protagonist, is brimming with curiosity.

PRACTICE STAGE ENEMY MONSTERS
Skeleton T While he appears as the epitome of a tea-loving Japanese man, he is a fine monster as well. He will be the first opponent you face during your trials. But you'll find that in a rather endearing way, he's a miserable fool who doesn't even know how to rotate his Puyo. Boohoo. Sipping bitter green tea during battle will instantly make you one of his tea-drinking buddies.
Nasu Grave An eggplant. Specifically, a Kamo eggplant. On top of that, he makes for a rather strange presence. Just what the heck is this thing? Despite appearances, his defensive power is high, so novices might find themselves struggling a bit. You'll have no choice but to keep at it and apply a steady technique. But in the end, your opponent is still just an eggplant. A regular talking eggplant. …Heh.
Mummy Even though it's called Mummy, it isn't a mommy. It's a mummy. What? You already knew that? Oh, deary me, I'll wrap it up then. (←One-man comedy routine.) Mummy is an opponent that makes you want to bully it because the crying face it makes when it's about to lose is just too cute. Sorry, Mummy.
The Goddess of Time whisking the monsters away.

BATTLE STAGES 1-6
Draco Centauros As you might expect from someone who shouts "Rawr", this half-dragon being takes pride in those sharp horns. Appearing as the first obstacle of your quest, this opponent has top tier judgment and piece precision but takes forever to think things through. Because of that, she's a pitiful lass who is only ranked as a third-rate monster girl... You heard me right! Draco is a girl. I'm sure someone around you thought she was a boy...
Suketoudara A pollock who has an aura of coming from some far-off sea. However, he seems to have the character of an Edokko. He's an athletic-type who tends to err on the side of caution. However, he's also arrogant. When he wins, he makes a face that screams "You're no match for me!", which is truly aggravating. Many say they especially don't want to lose to him.
(TL Note: Literally meaning “Child of Edo”, Edokko is refers to a person born and raised in Edo (renamed Tokyo in 1868). It implies personality traits such as being assertive, straightforward, cheerful, perhaps a bit mercantile.)
Sukiyapodes Let's just get this out of the way; he has a giant foot. It measures about 16 mon. Even though he has a complex about it, he directs that frustration into bettering himself. Well, we're not sure if that last part's true, but he always has a cheerful expression on his face as he slowly and steadily builds precise chains. He's a bit of an unpleasant guy.
(TL Note: mon is a unit of length for measuring the size of one's foot. 1 mon is equivalent to 2.4 cm. His foot is 38.4 cm, or 15.12 in.)
Harpy Now then, it is time for Miss Harpy's song. She loves singing more than she loves having three meals a day. She could sing for ages if no one stopped her. If there was something like a "Puyo Puyo World Karaoke Tournament", she'd win for sure. But unfortunately, this is only Puyo Puyo.
Sasori Man “How d'ya do, partner? I’m a famous Naniwa salesman known 'round these parts as Sasori Man. Put 'er there! Huh? Yer askin' for my secret to success? I ain't spillin' the beans no matter how much ya beg. That's somethin' to look forward to when we do battle. Till then, happy trails.”
Panotty A flute-playing boy. But honestly, he's nothing more than a noisy, mischievous brat. He disrupts his opponent's chains by dropping large amounts of Nuisance Puyo on them. Everyone has fallen victim to his antics at least once. What a truly ruthless Puyo technique. For when his last flute sounds, the dead shall be raised. Just kidding.
Tumblr media
BATTLE STAGES 7-12
Zombie A zombie. All of his lines are stuff like "Ugheeee." This zombie is quite the formidable trickster. Sometimes he will be swiftly defeated, and other times he will take you by surprise and suddenly pull off a huge chain. If you don't take him seriously, you'll find yourself in a tough spot. Battle with caution.
Witch In the forest stands a grand mansion. Living there was a very ordinary family whose lineage can be traced back hundreds of years. The family's only daughter was born and was raised in a very ordinary fashion. But there was one thing that was not so ordinary...That young lady was a haughty witch. Ohohoho! Ohohohoho... *fadeout*
Zou Daimaou Pawoo! The mammoth mogul has arrived! A young aristocrat who comes from an ancient and distinguished line of royal Indian elephants. An irritating fellow who likes bad puns, gives his words an elephantine quality, and casually rhymes. He also enjoys Puyo Puyo. Plus, he's strong. An aphant-garde aristocrat whose ground-shaking chains are as sharp as his tusks.
Schezo A silver-haired man with deep blue eyes. Schezo, the embodiment of picturesque beauty. However, he's been deemed a pervert thanks to Arle, and strives to restore his honor by challenging her.
B-E-A-U-T-Y! Perfection won't pass you by!  P-R-I-N-C-E! Of the Puyo Puyo World, it's meant to be! Go now! Go forth! Show us what you're really worth!
...Well, this has turned into something rather silly..
Minotauros Risking life and limb for his duties, a bull who lives by the code of chivalry, leaving a flurry of cherry blossoms in his wake. That is Minotauros. Ever since Rulue rescued him long ago, he has served as her devoted attendant like a faithful dog. Seeing him like this brings some to tears. For Rulue, he'd go through hell and high water. He's giving it his all today, and his one-eyed look is as cool as ever.
Rulue A woman truly worthy of the title of "Fighting Queen". The queen of the Puyo Puyo world. There's nothing that she can't obtain... Oh wait, there is something — Satan's love. Possessing a very jealous nature, Rulue is always lying in wait, ready to obliterate anyone who gets close to Satan. It's rumored that her true strength is even greater than Satan's.
Tumblr media
BATTLE STAGE 13
Satan He is the king that rules over heaven and earth. He soars the skies with wings that slice through wind. His two horns point towards the heavens. His sharp eyes are like glistening gems. Cloaked in the veil of night, his devilish hand beckons you in. He is darkness’s cherished protege. It seems playing Puyo Puyo is a guilty pleasure of his. His true strength is unknown. It's said he's won the Puyo Puyo World Championship a countless number of times. In any case, he's obviously a bigshot. Can you truly defeat Satan, who boasts of elite skills in speed and chaining?

Prompt: “Maybe I’ll work up the guts to actually tell you that to your face someday.”
🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂 ~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂~🍂
It’s a warm, sunny morning in Paris when Adrien remembers that today’s the end of Marinette’s commission week, and decides to ask his driver to drop him off at the bubble cafe and let him walk the rest of the way; the Gorilla agrees on the condition Adrien brings him something out from the cafe before he turns the car around. Adrien obliges, leaving the shop with three cups instead of just the two he’d planned. The Gorilla gives him a knowing look as Adrien hands over the Matcha tea, but as ever he says nothing and simply pulls the car around, taking a quick sip before heading back in the direction of the Agreste Mansion.
Adrien hurries to catch up to Marinette as she walks to school, holding a cup in each hand and feeling thankful for the lids preventing the precious boba from spilling out. “Good morning, Marinette!”
Marinette mumbles tiredly, not quite computing who it is, and waves a tired hand in greeting. “Mornin’,” she yawns, then blinks in surprise. “A-A-Adrien?!”
“I got you a boba tea if you want one,” he smiles fondly. Her stuttering is always so cute.
Marinette blinks, then takes the offered cup with a smile. “Thanks,” she smiles back, her cheeks turning a charming shade of pink. She takes a sip, her eyes widening. “Lychee?”
“Yeah…” Adrien frowns, a little worried. “Do you not like it? I got Honeydew for myself if you want to trade -”
“No,” Marinette shakes her head, her smile widening. “Lychee’s my favourite! How did you know that?”
Adrien sips his own tea to hide the way his cheeks are suddenly matching her jeans. “Luck, I guess.” He glances up when someone shouts his name, and sees Nino waving for him to come over. “Hey, see you in class?”
“Sure,” Marinette beams. “See you.” He waves to her as he heads over to see what Nino wants, and she sips her drink happily.
You always find a way to make my day, Adrien Agreste. Maybe I’ll work up the guts to actually tell you that to your face someday.
It’s just after lunch when an Akuma announces its presence with an explosion of glitter that goes off with the force of a small nuclear bomb; judging from the ripped jeans, mismatched fingerless gloves, doodled-on converse, glittery heart-shaped deely-boppers, and too-big T-shirt with Adrien’s face splashed across it, it’s a tweenage fan-girl who just got told that Adrien is not, in fact, going to marry her.
“I am The Fanged Fangirl!” she screams as she lands on the roof of François-Dupont. “Anyone who stands between me and my Adri-poo is going to get bitten! RAWR!”
It does sound like a fairly idle threat at first - then Chloé tells the Akuma where to stick it, gets bitten, and learns very quickly that The Fanged Fangirl’s fangs are, in fact, venomous.
Obviously, letting her get her hands on Adrien is not a viable option, so Marinette ‘hides in the bathroom’ and Ladybug swoops in to swing the model out of there.
“Thanks, Ladybug,” Adrien beams at her as she carries him bridal style across the rooftops of Paris (and focusses very hard on the middle distance and not the fact that Adrien is currently smooshed up against her). “I really thought I’d bit it back there.”
Ladybug allows a little giggle to slip out as they land on the roof of the Pompidou Centre. “You’ll be safe here,” she tells him. “If you hide next to one of the big pipes, I doubt she’ll see you even if she can fly or something. Which she might be able to,” she adds worriedly. “She does seem to be vampire-themed. Maybe she can turn into a bat or something.”
“I hope she can’t,” Adrien smiles. “That would be really batty.”
Ladybug stares at him, letting out an involuntary burst of laughter. “Oh my gods, you’re as bad as Chat Noir,” she giggles, wiping a tear out of her eye. She takes a deep breath, getting her laughter under control. “Are you one-hundred-percent sure you’re going to be OK up here?”
“I’m sure,” Adrien nods. “If you think I’m safe here, I know I am.”
Ladybug’s cheeks might turn pink under her mask, but before he can get a closer look she’s saluting him and arcing gracefully away on her yoyo. He slips into the shadow of a pipe to transform, smiling as he remembers her genuine concern for his wellbeing. You’re not just Paris’ hero, Ladybug, he thinks, you’re my hero. Maybe I’ll work up the guts to actually tell you that to your face someday.
It’s just becoming evening, with the sun slowly setting and darkness beginning to glitter above, when Ladybug and Chat Noir finish their patrol and meet at the top of the Eiffel Tower. It’s a quiet evening in Paris; no sign of anything related to Hawkmoth since the Fanged Fangirl was defeated that afternoon, so they decide to relax in their favourite spot and just chat for a while. Chat Noir has been far more serious of late, clearly worried about her since - well, she doesn’t like to think about the events that made her the new Guardian. But he’s been a real rock since then, especially since the weight that comes with Guardianship has been giving her near-extreme mood swings between normal-ish and near-breakdowns.
It’s odd, though, how sometimes she finds herself missing the less serious old Chat Noir and his playful banter. He doesn’t do that so much any more.
(He still laughs when she jokes, don’t get her wrong, but it’s almost like he’s afraid to joke now. She really, really wishes he wouldn’t be.)
In spite of her sombre thoughts, Ladybug can’t help laughing as she tells him about rescuing Adrien Agreste from the Fanged Fangirl that afternoon. “Oh, it was hilarious, Chat,” she giggles. “He was making puns so terrible they were worthy of you!”
“Was he, now?” Chat Noir smiles, sounding a bit like he’s holding laughter back himself.
“Oh, you should have heard him! I said that I hoped the Akuma couldn’t turn into a bat, and he straight up told me it would be batty if she could!” She breathes out with a smile. “I think you two would get on really well.”
“Trying to set me up?” Chat Noir laughs, nudging her. “You’re forgetting, I’m a taken cat now.”
“Oh, yeah,” Ladybug feels her heart bump in her chest. It’s not a good bump. “Right.”
“Hey,” Chat Noir says softly, his voice laced with concern. “You OK, Bug? I’ve been worried about you. You haven’t seemed yourself since… that day.”
That day. The day Ladybug led Hawkmoth right to Master Fu in a moment of thoughtlessness. The day she’s been trying not to think about.
The day everything went wrong.
And suddenly she can’t stop herself; she remembers the battle with Miracle Queen and remembers how Master Fu is gone and remembers how it’s her fault and remembers how Chat Noir is not her kitty anymore, he’s someone else’s, and she’s realising all of this far. Too. Late.
All of a sudden, she can’t stand the soft way he’s looking at her - it just hurts too damn much.
She needs to get out of here before she starts crying.
“It’s… it’s late,” Ladybug says, her voice shaking a little. “I should be going home; I don’t want to keep you from your bed.”
“You don’t have to -” Chat Noir starts, but she shakes her head, finding her unwelcome stutter making its way into her throat.
“No, no, I should get back before… before someone notices I’m missing. Or something. Yeah.” And before he can protest, she yoyos away into the distance, only pausing to look back when the Eiffel Tower is simply a shape in the distance and Chat Noir is a tiny black dot near the top.
I miss the old you, Kitty, she thinks sadly, her eyes beginning to prickle. I miss the way things used to be between us. Maybe one day I’ll work up the guts to actually tell you that to your face.
It’s not-quite midnight when Chat Noir manages to stop running around the rooftops in frustration over whatever it is Ladybug’s not telling him, and impulsively drops down onto Marinette’s balcony to investigate why her fairy lights are still on. To his shock, he finds her passed out in her deck chair, only wearing her pyjamas. There are noticeable bags under her eyes, and her hair’s loose and tangled about her shoulders, and there is something distinctly vulnerable about her in this position. Like she’s a little kid again. He almost feels like an intruder.
But he can’t leave her like this.
He decides to stay.
“You seem so much younger when you’re asleep,” Chat Noir murmurs, watching the rise and fall of Marinette’s breathing. “You’re always so tired when I see you. In class, with our friends - even when it’s just the two of us. I think you’re wearing yourself thin, Marinette. You’re so busy being Everyday Ladybug that you don’t give yourself any actual downtime - and believe me, I know about downtime.” He can’t resist the urge to smooth her hair, tuck it behind her ear, and in doing so notices the way her cheeks are a little streaky, like she’s been crying recently. His heart might just break a little at the sight. Apparently Ladybug’s not the only girl in his life keeping her sadness to herself of late.
“Oh, Marinette,” Chat Noir mumbles sadly. “What are you bottling up? If you can’t tell Alya what’s the matter -” (and, since she appears to have been crying herself to sleep up here on her balcony, fully alone, that seems to be the case) “- you can tell me. I want to be there for you.”
Marinette gives a little choked-up sigh in her sleep, and shivers. He realises she’s probably freezing, and looks around for a blanket. There isn’t one, and he comes to a decision.
“Let’s get you to bed,” he tells her.
It’s a little awkward, trying to lift his friend without accidentally waking her - or worse, touching something he shouldn’t - but he manages it eventually, and carefully carries her over to the still-open hatch. It’s very awkward trying to maneuver her through without dropping her or clunking her head on the side, and it’s nearly four minutes before he gets them both fully through. But at last, they’re both down and safe, and he carefully plumps her pillow, then arranges her cat plushies around her like a ring of little guardians who’ll look after her on his behalf, and tucks his dear friend into bed. She lets out another little sigh, but this one sounds comfortable rather than sad, and he can’t help but smile at her.
You’re one of my favourite people in the entire world, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, he thinks. I can’t stand to see you hurt. Maybe one day I’ll work up the guts to actually tell you that to your face.
Then he climbs out of the hatch, glances back to make sure she’s alright, and lowers the trapdoor behind him. “Goodnight, Marinette,” he murmurs. “Sweet dreams.”

Summary: Winry sat in the optimal place to study in the school cafe for the entire fall semester. Then spring came, and suddenly some self-entitled twit who dressed like off-brand Gerard Way decided it was his territory. He was so not going to get off easy.
Rating: T
Word Count: 1.8k words of coffee shop/college AU with a side of enemies to almost-lovers
A/N: It's finals week, I posted this on Ao3 at almost 5am, and if the rest of the sentence didn't make it obvious, I'm writing from unfortunate experience. Not beta-ed or proofread, although I happened to see one thing to fix when I woke up this morning. Feel my raw power. Rawr.
It wasn't that big a deal.
It kind of really was, though.
Every Thursday morning during the fall semester, Winry sat in the same spot at the same school coffee shop. It was the spot sent by the entire patron pantheon of cram papers. Maybe one person didn't need an entire booth, but it was in the corner, and the tops of the bench seats had opaque plastic barriers that just so happened to be perfect for minimizing excess visual chaos. For the most part, there weren't loud conversations, and the jazz music that came through the speakers helped her tune out people ordering coffee. Add to that the fact that she could use campus flex dollars and not her own bank account that was begging for mercy, and it was the perfect spot to get papers done.
But apparently not this spring.
As soon as Winry walked in, she noticed him in the corner. Some emo wannabe guy on his computer. Probably on Reddit complaining about how women didn't appreciate the amazing pics he sent them on Tinder. Or at least, it was a fair guess based on the sour look on his face. Why did this guy of all people have to steal the holy grail spot? Ugh. She was still gonna get her coffee, darn it.
"You know the deal, Sciezska. Medium roast with a shot of espresso and vanilla creamer."
"On it! You paying in flex?"
"Yeah." She scanned her student ID and lowered her voice. "Who's off-brand Gerard Way in the corner?"
"Who's Ger—"
"The punk kid."
"Ohhh. I can try to get his number for you, if you want."
"No, he looks like a total tool! And not the kind I like dealing with!"
"Which means you think he's hot. I didn't think you were into that type, but you're not wrong."
"For the last time, no, Sciezska! He took my spot! And I'm trying very, very hard to keep this to a stage whisper, but if you keep trying to set me up with some random creep, I won't be able to!"
A distinctly male voice grumbled, "I'm not a creep."
"Keep telling that to the girls on Tinder. I'm sure they'll understand eventually."
"Yeah, and I'll bet if you look at your 'Live, Laugh, Love' sign a little more, you'll understand it eventually." He mumbled something under his breath.
"What was that, Mr. Nice Guy?"
"Lay off, it's eight in the morning. I said the only reason I even have a Tinder account is because my roommate stole my phone while I was going to the bathroom."
"Well, if you didn't want it, why didn't you delete it?"
"Eh, I figured if I really got sick of being single one day, it'd already be there."
"Never would have guessed you were single," Winry said dryly.
"Come on, it's way too early to be rubbing that kind of crap in. Who says I'm not fine with being single anyway?"
Sciezska timidly spoke up. "Medium roast with espresso and vanilla creamer?"
Winry thanked her as red jacket boy continued. "'Edward Elric, Bachelor.' Almost sounds as good as 'Edward Elric, Bachelor of Science.'"
"B.S. degree. Sounds about right."
"About time you stopped acting like I'm an idiot!"
Winry snorted. "That's not what I meant."
"Hey!"
"And with that, I'm going to go find some other spot to write my paper."
Edward, as his name apparently was, scoffed and mumbled something that sounded like "good riddance". Maybe the librarians wouldn't get on her case too much for bringing in coffee.
-----
A week later, Winry walked into the cafe, assuming the circumstances of the previous week were an anomaly. They were not.
"Medium roast with a shot of espresso and vanilla creamer," she grumbled and sulked in the direction of the corner seat.
"Hey, don't start with me again, blondie. I've had a whopping four hours of sleep and I can't promise you'll like what comes out of my mouth."
"We're at a coffee shop. Get some coffee. I can't help it if you're too hung over to be polite."
"Now look, genius. I did not stay up until 4 A.M. working on a stupid chem paper for that sadistic pyromaniac excuse for a professor just for some random chick to accuse me of being hung over."
"Oh."
"Yeah. And for your information, coffee doesn't really help me wake up. It just helps me focus on homework." He lifted up his empty cup and gave it a shake.
"That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard."
"ADHD is a weird thing, and yet, here I am."
"Huh, interesting."
"Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to pick up where I left off with the same stupid ten page paper I started last night."
"Oh right. Sure," Winry stammered. "Listen, I'm really sorry I just assumed things about you. It was wrong of me, and I'd like to make it up to you, if that's okay."
Edward eyed her suspiciously. "What do you have in mind?"
"Well...I could look over your paper once you're done writing it? I've got a paper of my own to write while I'm waiting, and I can sit right across the table here so you don't have to come get me. I won't try to talk to you or anything. Neither of us need that kind of distraction."
"Alright, alright. Get your coffee and sit down. The girl at the counter's been up there waiting for a good minute or two while you've been at confessional over here."
"Wait, she has?" Winry's eyes widened, and Edward laughed at her expense. He was kind of attractive when he wasn't scowling...wait what? She pouted and got up to retrieve her coffee. When Winry returned, she plopped down on the bench opposite Edward and opened her laptop. Peeking out from behind it, she added, "By the way, I'm Winry. I figured you ought to at least know the name of the person who's proofreading your paper."
"Well, Winry, you're the one who volunteered." The corners of his mouth twitched upward. The two worked on their assignments in silence, occasionally speaking up when necessary.
-----
Edward was in the corner again the next week as well.
"Hey, Edward! Mind if I join you for homework again?"
"Normally, I'd say no, but you didn't bother me too much last week, so you might as well." He turned away slightly.
"Great! Have you gotten your coffee yet? I didn't see a cup, and you got something the last two times."
"Eh, I haven't been here long. If you're going up and getting yours, would you mind ordering a caramel macchiato for me?" He asked, sliding his ID across the table.
"Yeah, no problem. I'll be back in a sec."
She returned and slipped his ID back before pulling out her computer. "Do you have anything for me to look over this time?"
"Not this week. But if you have anything you need looked over, I can do that, too."
"Actually, I do, if you wouldn't mind."
"Winry, I just volunteered. Just send the paper to my school email. Mine's 'elricedwa'," he instructed as he proceeded to spell it.
"Medium roast and a caramel macchiato?" Sciezska called out.
"Coming!" Winry replied and turned to Edward. "I just sent it, so you should be able to start while I'm getting our stuff." Eyes glued to his laptop, Edward gave a thumbs up.
Once she returned with their drinks, Winry sat down and wordlessly set Edward's drink next to him.
"Thanks," he muttered distantly. His lips mirrored the words he was reading. Though his lips weren't plump by any stretch of the imagination, they were shapely. His steely concentration made the air leave Winry's lungs. To top it all off, the first rays of sunlight came through the window just right, hitting Edward's hair in a way that made it positively glow.
What was she thinking? Those were only the sorts of things people thought when they had a crush. She'd only had two positive interactions with him, including this one. ...well, maybe it was a crush. She could certainly do worse than someone with a questionable fashion sense. After all, he worked hard, and he got good grades, if the quality of his writing was any indication. Okay, fine. He was also drop dead gorgeous, if you could see past his clothing choices. Yeah, she had a crush.
"Did you hear anything I just said?"
"...no."
"Figures. I finished reading your paper. It's not bad, I just left a few suggestions for sentence structure. Now I am going to enjoy my caramel macchiato." He took off the lid and breathed in the steam with his eyes closed, nearly drooping into the cup in content. When he opened his eyes slowly, Winry was awestruck by the similarity between the color of his eyes and his drink.
"What?" Edward furrowed his eyebrows.
"Nothing. I didn't say anything. At all. Nope."
"Okay." He shrugged. She reopened the document and went through his suggested edits. Gnawing her lip in concentration, she leaned forward a bit to settle in and tackle the editing.
"...hey, uh, Winry?" Edward gulped. "Are you going to drink your coffee?"
"Oh! Yeah, I almost forgot. Thanks, Edward!" she smiled.
"No–no problem. And you can call me Ed, you know. Most people do. Except for that excuse for a professor that calls me pipsqueak. Can you believe he's my advisor? I mean, come on, I'm a grown man. I'm not that short."
Winry made a poor attempt at containing her laughter. "Okay then, Ed. Prove it. Stand up."
"Fine." He slid out of the booth and stood. Winry followed suit and appraised their respective heights.
"Well, I'd hardly call you tall, but you're at least taller than me by a few inches, for whatever that's worth."
Edward grinned as if he had won some sort of prize. "Time for shorties to sit down now!"
"Watch it now. You're not too far from that label yourself, mister."
They both returned to their positions in the booth and worked steadily for the next hour. At the end of that time, Winry closed her laptop. "Ed, are you okay? You seem distracted."
"ADHD. I'm always distracted," he dismissed.
"No, like, are you sick or something? You did get more than four hours of sleep this time, right?"
"No comment." Ed's mouth twitched. He mumbled barely loud enough to hear, "Wouldn't have mattered anyway."
"Are you sure? If you're not feeling well, I can drive you over to the health center."
"N-no. That's not it." He exhaled, then slid a napkin across the table. His hands trembled slightly. "Anyway, here's my number. In case you need me to look over a paper. Or whatever. I've got a class soon."
Winry blushed, but tucked the napkin in her laptop. "Thanks, Ed. See you next week?"
"Yeah. Next week."

Leena deserved better
So we’ve made our way halfway through s4 of Warehouse 13 and I have so much feelings and a whole lot of salt. I love this show and its found family, but oh boy, do I also have issues and most of it revolve on how Leena gets treated.
I love Leena a lot. Despite how... well for 3 whole seasons this show does not know what to do with Leena. It’s so painful to watch. They threw in a character who was all heart and could see a little too much. Her aura reading made her rather mysterious and a little mystical, and she obviously is very empathic to all the other characters around her. She’s able to sense artifacts and the strange energies they resonate... and unlike with Pete’s vibes or Steve’s ability to know when someone is lying, the writers did not know what to do with that or did not really want to bother trying to write around it.
So they kept Leena in the background. Sometimes there to lend an ear, to do the jobs others were too busy to do, but in general, Leena was shoved towards the background.
It took them until S4 before they let Leena venture away from the B&B and the warehouse, and god, that moment is so good that it’s painful. We get a glimpse of who Leena is, of how she can read these artefacts and keeps them in balance. Her reactions are so amazing and it just makes it all that more painful that we never got more of any of this. Even when the show was focussing on Leena with the pearl of wisdow, Leena had to carry that burden on her own. She didn’t get to confide in anyone else, she didn’t get the team around to support her. (Not on screen anyway, but let me headcanon it.)
In comes S4 where Leena is suddenly thrust forward in an attempt to build up the character they neglected for 3 whole seasons so... well her death would have a bigger impact on their story. It’s rather telling that we come to understand her true impact on the warehouse, that we come to see what she did, after she’s gone. Through the eyes of Artie so we could understand his guilt and his grief. While all the other characters around are more focussed on Artie. There is no pause in the show for them to remember her by, to show how much she is missed.
The grief over Leena is shown solely through the eyes of Artie. Leena’s death is the greater evil Artie has to live with as payment for using an artefact to change the world. It’s so gross and so disappointing, and it doesn’t work. At all.
What strikes me as odd is how this death closely follows everything happening with Steve. The writers set up a big storyline here. Steve dies for them, to save them. Steve sacrifices himself, and Claudia is so eaten up by guilt that she does the wrong thing. She does exactly what Artie says they should never do.
They bring Steve back and show us just how bad it is. Claudia ties herself to his fate, she binds them together and every hurt he feels, gets transferred to her. It’s an interesting storyline and the potential had me on the edge of my seat. Claudia has spent so much of her life trying to get her brother back. Only for him to walk away and leave her behind, and Claudia is left fumbling until she find her home with this little family.
Only for history to repeat itself and Claudia once more being faced with potentially losing a brother, and putting her own life on the line to get him back instead of learning to cope with her grief. The parallels are so obvious and it’s obvious where this storyline was meant to lead. Steve realising the danger he poses to Claudia, convincing her that he had his time and he would not let anyone get hurt in his place. Steve taking himself off the metronome after being able to say goodbye to Claudia and allowing her to move on.
It would have been beautiful, even if it would have been painful. Except, that’s not how it goes. There are no consequences to Claudia’s actions. They go back to Steve’s mother, have the weirdest kind of ceremony that felt not really cathartic and mostly confusing, but they do it. Easy as that. A moment of love, the metronome gets destroyed and Steve can live happily after.
Steve’s death would have had meaning. It would have resonated and he would have died protecting everyone. He would have been a hero, and he would have been a good brother keeping his found sister safe. Except, he lives.
Steve being alive leaves a bad taste in the mouth when a few episodes later Leena gets killed. And it doesn’t resonate. Claudia’s angst is about Artie and while that is understandable, Claudia’s lack of grief for Leena isn’t. They got Steve back without any great negative consequences, but no one pauses to think about getting Leena back. No one mentions while they angst over having Artie use the astrolabe again and that it would kill HG, Steve and Mrs Frederic, it would ultimately mean saving Leena.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think using artefacts to bring the dead back is a particularly good idea, but the show just literally made it clear that in fact, it can be done and you can get a happy ending. For the while male character, at least. (And even for HG Wells as well.) The black woman? No, she isn’t worth it. Heck, no one even wants to stop and think about what it means that Pete actually saw her. That’s just the Warehouse, apparently.
There’s so many ways they could have handled this better, even if she still ended up dead in the end. Heck, just the group sitting together in the B&B telling stories about Leena would have been something.
The closest we get is Artie showing us four seasons too lately exactly the type of work that Leena did. All the things, the show didn’t bother to include before as they shoved Leena’s character to the side. And it just makes the character’s death that much harder to swallow, because we never even got to see her shine. And in the same instant, we see Steve (the boy who lived) take the seat and do what she was good it in her place.
I realise I’m like 8 years too late with my indignation, but it still sucks, dammit. I’m still mad as hell because Leena was an awesome character and she deserved so much better than any of this bullshit.
And now I need like 500 fixit fics. I need the entire team dogpiling on Leena as she’s safe and sound with them again. I need Claudia clinging to her and showing her relief that she didn’t have to lose Leena too. I just... Rawr.
They couldn’t even bother to give her a frigging last name, goddammit.

You poke Pope’s sides after he’s discarded his shirt, leaving him bare chested. “Damn pope! Looking good.” You smirk at him.
“T-Thanks..” The heat rises to his cheek at your compliment.
“I mean.. have you been working out?” You give his bicep a squeeze, “Cause you look like you have.”
He nods, smiling, “I uh.. I have actually.”
“Well I can definitely tell.”
“Really?” His eyes are wide and hopeful at you.
You smile and nod, “Yes really! Better be careful on this beach. Some girl might try to swoop in and grab you.” You give him a wink and hurry off after Kie toward the water.
He watches as you walk away, sighing in content. Gosh, you were beautiful. He’d never be able to tell you that though. You were way out of his league.
“Dude, she’s so into you.” JJ announces walking up next to Pope.
“She is not.” Pope defends, “She’s just.. being friendly.”
“Friendly my ass.” JJ grips his bicep like you did, “oh! Pope! Have you been working out?” He says in a girly voice, then makes kissy sounds.
Pope groans, pushing JJ off him, “she didn’t sound like that. She was much more beautiful.”
JJ rolls his eyes, “You’re so whipped for her and don’t even have the balls to tell her.”
Pope looks back out at the beach where you’re entering the water. You’re laughing at something Kie said, “She’s way out of my league…”
“Nah, you’re out of her league. She likes you man, why not take the leap? Tell her how you feel!” JJ encourages.
Pope sighs and hangs his head, “She’d never like me back.. it’s just her being friendly.”
~
“the most handsome one of this group has arrived!” You announce as Pope walks toward the small bonfire.
JJ makes kissy sounds as Pope walks by and Pope pushes him off him, causing JJ to laugh.
“and there’s the most beautiful girl ever..” He whispers under his breath.
You blush at what he says, acting like you didn’t hear him and continue talking with Kie. Pope takes a seat next to John B and talks with him about fishing tomorrow. “I’m going to get another drink. Anyone want anything?” You say as you stand.
JJ nudges Pope, “Now’s your chance, go with her!” He whispers to Pope.
Pope clears his throat and stands, “I’ll help you.” He follows you back up to the house.
“I like that hat on you.” You comment as the two of you walk up toward the house. Your hand brushes his and you blush, hoping he didn’t realize it was intentional.
“Thanks.. I uh, like your tank top.” He points to it. He internally groans at his effort at flirting.
The two of you walk into the house and you head to the fridge, opening the door and grabbing another water, “Want one?”
He nods, “Sure.”
When you hand him the bottle, you keep your grip and pull him closer to you, “Pope Heyward.”
His eyes go wide, “Y/n y/L/n.”
“Have I not sent enough hints that I want you to ask me on a date?”
His mouth falls agape as he stares down at you, “I mean… I thought you were being friendly…”
“No silly. Am I that friendly with any of the other pogues?”
He thinks for a moment and furrows his brows in thought.
“Yeah, no I’m not. It’s only with you and I really hoped you would have gotten the hint with all the flirting.” You sigh and let go of the water bottle. “It’s fine if you don’t feel the same way.. I mean I’m really not your ty-”
“I like you too.” He quickly blurts out, interrupting you. “I like you too.” He stands a little taller, puffing his chest out as you look up at him, suddenly feeling confident, “Have for a long time and honestly I figured you were out of my league and didn’t like me back.”
“Does that.. mean you’ll..” You begin again but he’s quick to interrupt.
“Will you go out on a date with me?”
You laugh a little, “If I say yes, promise not to interrupt me with every sentence?”
He chuckles and nods, “yes.. sorry. It’s just I’ve waited a long time for this moment.” He lets out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. Seems like Pope just needed a little encouragement.
“Then yes. Pope Heyward, I would love to go on a date with you.”

A Not So Secret Relationship
Prompt List
 Day 3: Secret Relationship AU
 A Not So Secret Relationship
Team __BY was hanging around without their other two respective members. Who knows where their date had gotten them on, according to Yang. Blake was just sitting near a coffee table with biscuits and tea in front of her.
“Hey, Blake. Why is a coffee table still a coffee table even when you drink tea in it?” Asked Yang. Blake stared at her and brush her off, taking a hold of her book.
Yang stared at her and began tracing whatever she can trace on her face. Her eyes. That lovely shades of amber. Her nose. I mean, those are one hell of a cute sniffers, wink wink. The set of cat ears. Those ears are sensitive, and very expressive. Like right now, she can tell how uncomfortable Blake is feeling, then the book snapped close.
“Yang. Please stop staring.” Grumbled Blake. Yang grinned at her. “Come on, Blake. I’m just admiring.”
Blake coughed and looked away. “What do you want?” Yang hummed. She then perked up an idea procuring in her mind.
“Wanna talk about something interesting?” Asked Yang.
“That depends on the plot.” Said Blake. She then observed how her girlfriend's smile curved into a mischievous one. “A whiterose plot.” That caught her attention.
Blake nodded, urging her. “Do continue.” Yang chuckled.
“A secret relationship, really? They think that we haven’t noticed how close they are. I mean, all of Beacon knows they’re dating, except Jaune of course.” Said Yang, making Blake chuckle.
“Well yes, they’re not really, that subtle. It’s fairly obvious. Now I believe you’ve got a story to tell?” Asked Blake. Yang grinned and spoke. “It's about Ruby giving her flowers.”
 “Weiss!!”
Weiss was busy studying for an exam when she heard a certain high pitched call from her friend Ruby. She inwardly sighed and placed a bookmark in her book, before closing it and looking at Ruby.
“What is it, Ruby?” Asked Weiss. Ruby shuffled in her feet, taking an interest in her shoes. Weiss raised a brow and observed how fidgety Ruby is. “Is there something wrong?”
“No! I mean—no, I’m fine. It’s jus… erm…” Ruby stuttered. Weiss continue to look at her. “I, uhm… uh… h-have this!!” Ruby extended her arms out, her hands holding two stem of white roses. Weiss was dumbfounded at the action.
She reached out and took the two flowers. “T-thank you, Ruby. I appreciate it.” Blushed Weiss.
“And how did you know this?” Questioned Blake. Yang smirked and shook her finger and head.
“Tsk, tsk, Blake. You underestimate my stealth skills.” Yang said. “I was actually just around the corner from where Weiss was sitting.”
Blake chuckled at her. She then leaned in and said. “I may also have some, stories to tell.”
Yang grinned. “Oh ho. Spill the beans, kitten.” Blake rolled her eyes affectionately.
“It’s about Weiss giving Ruby a blanket when she fell asleep on the dorm.”
Weiss was still up late in the evening for some ‘light’ reading. She didn’t noticed the time passing by, and simply continue indulging herself in fine literature. She took notice of the time when she stretched her tired arms and looked up at the wall clock. 11:58, it says. Weiss inwardly winced at the time and stood up to take the books back to their shelves. She then left the library quietly.
Weiss was walking down the hallway, admiring how the shattered moon shone bright in the night. The breeze was cold to the skin, yet it doesn’t seem to bother her as she took her time going to the dorm.
It’s rare for Weiss to have these kinds of walks, so she rather take her time in doing so. She love how cold and humid the air felt. She loves how the wind rustles the tree leaves. And most importantly, she loved how the night is so quiet, it brings her in peace. A break from a very loud day.
She then, was in front of her dorm’s door. She’s certain that everyone in that same room are now sound asleep.
She opened the door and was about to tiptoe to her bed, when she noticed a figure sitting on the desk. It was Ruby. Piles of books and scattered papers were lying around the desk, no doubt she was probably studying or making paperwork that made the former confused. Weiss know from experience that her partner doesn’t like doing schoolwork, or better yet, she rather do it when the due date is near. But the things the latter is doing was due for the next two weeks. That was rather surprising.
Weiss then noticed the girl was actually asleep on the desk, something then tells her that she was working on the desk until she somehow fell asleep. She shook her head and made her way to her side of the bed and grabbed a spare blanket from her closet and draped it onto Ruby's shoulders. She saw how Ruby smiled and reciprocates the notion as she saw how peaceful she looked like.
She brushed a finger on the girl's forehead and said. “Good night, Ruby” And then retreated to her own bed and fall asleep.
“And before you ask how did I know this. Simple. I woke up that night and saw how everything unfold in front of my eyes.” Said Blake.
“Oh yeah, night vision. Or cat vision.” Grinned Yang. “Although, why were you up?”
Blake blushed and looked away. “I was, supposed to, well… head to your bed and… snuggle.”
Yang was wide eyes at the revelation, but then smiled. “You’re always welcome in my bed. Rawr.”
 “I know.” Blake replied, affectionately.
“Speaking of sleep, I also had a similar story, except this time, the sleeping beauty is, Weiss.” Said Yang.
Ruby was fast asleep every time the night and drowsiness hits in. Although sometimes she found herself staying up until in the early mornings. And this day is one. She was staring at the ceiling, only the light breathing from her teammates can be heard throughout the dorm. Is it weird to know your friends breathing patterns? In actuality, this weird knowledge helps her to know what her friends are actually feeling, if they’re experiencing pain or not, or any other stuffs.
For sleeping Yang, she huffs and her breathing is soft yet a hard exhale. There were times that she heard her whimper, her breathing gone ragged, and her huffing was more harsh and hard. She usually peer from her bunk, only to find out that she was having a bad dream and had to wake her up. It was a scary sound.
For sleeping Blake, it was soft, almost no sound at all. It was calm. But sometimes her breathe hitches when she dreams. And occasionally she would smile. I wonder what her dream is.
And for sleeping Weiss, it was… cute? Her breathing smooth and controlled. Some times she would exhale a puff of air, as if huffing. Like now… wait, where is she?
Ruby sat up and peered down, only to see a certain white haired girl missing.
“Weiss?” Called Ruby. Then she panicked. ‘Omg, where in Remnant is Weiss?’
She jumped down and landed on her feet in a soft thump. She looked up and saw her two teammates all asleep and sighed in relief. She then tip toed to their door and head out.
Now where, oh where could Weiss be? Ruby walked around the halls to look for Weiss. The training room, nope. The garden, nope. The classrooms… still nope.
“If I was Weiss Schnee, where would I be?” Pondered Ruby.
The lab? Well, she does goes there for dust examinations, but that rarely happens. The kitchen? If it’s for coffee, yes she’ll be there, but up until this early in the morning, that’s a no. But there is one place she’d be willing to stay in for hours, the library.
Ruby speed walk towards the library to tell Weiss that’s it’s already late, well early in the morning. But why would she be still up so late? Could it be, she fell asleep? No, that can’t be. Weiss is too… proper? Was that the right word—no, domestic? Ah, responsible, right.
She reached the library, and lo and behold, she instantly saw her partner's white hair poking through the corner.
“Weiss?” She whispered-yelled. She heard her voice echo and winced at the sound. She went to Weiss.
“Come on, Weiss. It’s late. Well, super early actually and the sun is already poking outside and the lights will open in the lib—wait, are you asleep?” She peered at the hunched position of her partner and saw how peaceful Weiss is. But in that position, not for long.
“I wasn’t expecting this.” She looked around the desk and saw a multitude of books laying around. “I should probably put this back in the shelves before waking her up.” She did so.
After her clean up, she head back to the heiress to wake her up. But then she saw how peaceful she looked like. And she remembered how she gets cranky when she gets woken up.
Ruby gulped at the idea slipping in her drowsy mind. “I’m sorry for this Weiss.”
She went near the chair and took hold of the latter’s shoulders and back to lean her in the chair. She saw the heiress’s head lolled down. She then scooped her in a princes carry, hands on below her knees and back to balance her. She felt her nuzzle in her chest.
She then start walking back to the dorm and upon reaching the dorm she laid the princess down in her own bed and tucked her in.
“Sleep tight, Weiss.” Yawned Ruby, before returning to her bed. Then her alarm clock blared. She quickly snooze it off, exhaling a breath. She looked at her scroll, only to see the scheduled advance class she needed to attend.
“Right. Right.” Muttered Ruby, heading out. “Sleep well, guys. Love you.”
“Ruby is too pure for this world.” Blake commented. Yang nodded.
“I know right. We must protect her.” Declared Yang, her fist up. Blake chuckled and sipped her tea.
“Need I remind you that, your sister wields one of the most deadly weapon in Remnant. And with said weapon, combined with a shotgun of high-caliber dust infused bullets. I’d say she needs no protection, if she can put bullet holes and cleave anyone on her path.” Pointed Blake, shivering at the thought of the reaper in action.
Yang’s smile dropped. “Right. I sometimes forgot how scary she can be.”
“Hey guys, what are you doing?”
They looked to see team JNPR walking towards them. They waved at the four and urged to join them, and they agreed.
“Whatcha’ guys talking about?” Asked Nora, taking biscuits.
“Some whiterose moments.” Said Yang, grinning. Nora squealed in delight. “Oh, oh, I’ve got some.”
Ruby and Weiss was out and about around Vale, stopping by stores to stores. Weiss, taking a hold of a list, while Ruby carry their items.
“Weiss, are we done yet?” Asked Ruby, gesturing her tired arms.
“ Not yet. This list are quite longer than I thought.” Said Weiss. Ruby pouted at her. “How much more?”
“A little more, don’t worry.” Assured Weiss. “I didn’t know Yang needs this many hair conditioners.”
Ruby shrugged. “Eh, that’s Yang for ya.” Ruby took a glance at a nearby café. “Hey Weiss, can we make a stop on that café?”
Weiss looked at the café then to her partner. “Sure. I’m sorry, were you tired?”
Ruby shook her head. “Not really, but my arms are a bit… you know.”
Weiss sighed. “I’m sorry.” Ruby just shrug and smiled at her to reassure her. “What would you want to order?”
Ruby just smiled. “Nah, I’ll do it. Compare to me, you’ve been walking around from store to store.”
Weiss looked at her incredulously. “And you’re carrying a months worth of goods.”
“Eh, it’s okay. I’ll get your order.” The redhead said, putting down the bags and grinned at Weiss, and walked towards the counter. A few moments later, Ruby came back with a tray filled with food.
“Black coffee and blueberry pancakes for Weiss, coming right up.” Grinned Ruby, putting down the tray. Weiss smiled at her. “Thank you, Ruby.”
“Anything for you, princess.” Teased Ruby.
“Shut up.” Said Weiss, rolling her eyes affectionately. Ruby only giggled.
“Isn’t that sweet?” Squealed Nora. The girls nodded in agreement.
“Well, they're friends. I guess that’s sweet of Ruby.” Said Jaune. The others can only look at him in hidden disbelief.
“Oh ho, Jauney boy.” Nora shook her head. “You’re missing the point.”
“Entirely.” Ren continued. Nora grinned. “Exactly!”
“Speaking of moments. I think, I may have seen those two around.” Started Ren.
 “Weissss!!” Whined Ruby.
“What are you doing, dolt?” Questioned Weiss. Ruby pouted at her.
“What are we doing in here?” Asked Ruby, looking around the forestry. Weiss rolled her eyes in annoyance.
“Haven’t you forgot that we are here to collect herbs for Doctor Enigma.” Said Weiss. Ruby looked at her. “There’s another doctor-professor?”
Weiss stared at her. “Yes. There is another one.”
Ruby looked down in surprise. “Oh. I didn’t know.”
“What do you mean you don’t know? Are you not taking Introduction to Dust Medical Properties?” Asked Weiss, earning a shake from Ruby. “Really?”
“Yeah. I think, only two or one member per team are required for that.” Answered Ruby. Weiss’s eyebrows narrowed.
“Two members? That’s preposterous!” Exclaimed Weiss. “But then, that means it’s just Blake and I who are the ones attending in that class.” Ruby shrugged. “Probably.”
Weiss gaped and huffed. “That’s a bit unfair. What about the other two members?”
“From what Professor Ozpin had told me. We’re attending a separate advance class.” Said Ruby. Weiss gave her a confused look. “Introduction to Dust Medical Properties or whatever, is an advance class. I mean, ask the third years or other students. They wouldn’t know about that. It’s a special class for selected students.”
“Oh.” Said Weiss. “Tell me more.”
Ruby nodded. “So yeah, basically we're attending in an advance separate class. You and Blake are in the Introduction to Dust Medical Properties, because, well, you both are good in handling dust? Yang is in the Advance Martial Hand to Hand Combat class, because obviously. And I’m actually monitoring, whatever you are doing in that class. Taking in both your good and bad sides in your class, to add it on our team ups.” Explained Ruby, while Weiss listened attentively.
“And you?” Asked Weiss. Ruby stopped and smiled sunnily at Weiss and walked ahead, Weiss staring at her back in confusion. “Ruby?”
“Trust me, you don’t wanna know. But don’t worry, I’m taking that class with Ren.” Stated Ruby. Weiss blinked at he leader's secretiveness.
“That, answer, makes me more worried.” Admitted Weiss. Ruby stopped on her tracks and looked at her wide eyed.
“No, no, no, no, you don’t have to worry. I’m fine. It’s just, a kind of a class that is suuuuuper confidential.” Said Ruby. “We're being taught by Ozpin himself. So you don’t have to worry.”
Weiss still wasn’t convinced. “Why wasn’t Jaune with you?”
Ruby laughed nervously. “Weeell, he was supposed to be. But Ozpin was, kinda reluctant. So instead he send Ren. And made Jaune attend the Advance Training Program for Leaders.”
Weiss looked at her. Ruby can feel the tension. She then went to Weiss and saw how rigid her posture is and how tense she is. “Weiss, are you okay?”
Weiss shook her head. “No. I’m not. I just—I worry about you, Ruby. You’re our leader and you’re very important to m—us. And, I just have this nagging feeling that, whatever your class is about it’s hurting you or something.”
Ruby sighed and smiled, sadly. “Or something.” Weiss eye's widen. “But it’s alright. We wouldn’t use, what we learned in that class, yet. Unless, it is really necessary.”
“Ruby…” Whimpered Weiss. Ruby held her. “Shh, Weiss. I’m fine. Don’t worry.” Weiss nodded in her shoulder.
“I trust you.” Ruby smiled softly and hummed.
“Yeaaah. Ren would also not tell me what that class is.” Pouted Nora. Ren shook his head.
“One thing is certain, it is really beneficial.” Said Ren.
“Pyrrha? You got something to tell?” Asked Yang, brushing off that suspicious class of Ruby and Ren. Pyrrha tapped her chin in thought. “Oh. I have one. And I thinks its very sweet. And very rare.”
“Rare?” Blake asked. Pyrrha nodded. “It’s so rare, it’s makes it more sweeter.”
Ruby was out. Yes, on her own. Trying to get some alone time, to take a break from everything. Ruby hiked a nearby hill from the Emerald Forest, and that hill had a cliff nearby and it’s surroundings are padded with a variety of vibrant flowers.
Ruby then went to a tree planted in the middle and leaned on its trunk. She began to look at the flowers that sways in the wind and looks at the clouds that drifts ahead in the sky. It is peaceful. Then she felt her scroll ring.
“Hello?” Asked Ruby, waiting for the response on the other line.
“Ruby? Where are you?” She heard a familiar voice asked.
“I’m on the hill, Weiss. Is there something wrong?” She asked.
 “Uhmm… no?” A sigh. “I don’t know. Can you—I meet with you?”
Ruby perked up and stood from where she is resting, dusting herself. “Sure thing, Weiss. Park?”
“Park.” Stated Weiss. Ruby hummed and ended the call. In a matter of seconds, roses filled the empty space.
Weiss sat at the bench, waiting for Ruby. She fiddled with her skirt. Her mind counting of flowers beneath her feet. Capturing the scent of roses in the air.
“Ruby?” She looked behind her, only to come face to face with a smiling scythe wielder.
“Hello, Weiss.” Greeted Ruby. She took a hold of the white tresses and gently combing it in between her fingers. Weiss tapped the space beside her to urge the former to sit.
“Are you okay?” Asked Ruby. Weiss sighed deeply. “I’m… great. Better even, it’s just—tiring.”
Ruby frowned and looked down. What could make her partner feel relaxed and happy?
 A thought.
“Weiss. Be right back.” She grinned at her before disappearing in a swirl of roses. Weiss looked at the empty space beside her, then blinked when roses filled her sight.
She looked at Ruby and froze. What was she carrying? Why on Remnant would she bring a guitar?
Ruby laughed at her reaction. “Wanna sing?”
“Sing?” Questioned Weiss. “And what should we sing?”
Ruby let out a bright smile and began strumming and chucking chords. Took a deep breath and sang.
=Do you hear me? I’m talking to you
Across the water, across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I’m trying=
She closed her eyes, throwing her head back and looked at Weiss grinning, her eyebrows wiggling making the latter giggle.
=Boy, I hear you in my dreams
I feel you whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard=
Weiss smiled as she sang the last part of the verse, thinking on how true and accurate the verse is. She braced herself for a duet, taking a breathe.
=Lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again=
The two hummed as Ruby plucked the strings in melody. Their body swaying ever so slightly as they go. The hidden message didn’t make any scene as they sang in the park.
=They don’t know [They don’t know] how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this=
The sound of birds harmonize with the guitar. The wind picked up their pace and leaves was swirled in a mini tornado around the two without them noticing. Their voice vibrates and echoes as they made a perfect blend.
=Every time [Every time] we say good bye
I wish we had a one more kiss
I’ll wait for you, I promise you, I will=
“Ohhh oh!” Sang Ruby. Weiss giggled at her theatrics.
They both continued singing around in the air. Nature seems to see what is the unknown for the both of them. The skies painted in hues of red and orange. The clouds, oh so swiftly, forming a mirage of heart. The leaves, grass and flowers dance around them.
Unbeknownst to them, a figure in awe was staring at the event unfolding in front of their eyes. It was… intensely sweet. The sight may give you diabetes in one go.
The song ended and the two huffed and looked at each other, before giggling, transcending to bouts of laughter. Their eyes twinkling in delight and soft smiles were shared after the laughter.
“That… is sickeningly sweet. I can’t believe they’re not, together together.” Huffed Nora.
“Oh I betcha 20 lien they’re together.” Yang challenged. “Better yet, they’re just in a secret relationship.”
“I second the motion.” Said Pyrrha. Blake raised her hand and Ren followed suit.
“Hey, guys, what are you talking about?”
The group looked at the two new comer. Seems like they're done with their date. Jaune was quick to explain.
“We were talking about you. Your moments and whatnot. You guys are really close, you know that. And that is awesome. And then this five was pointing out how the two of you are actually in a relationship. But like, that can’t be right. You’re not dating, right?” Asked Jaune, hope in his voice.
The two blinked, silence hanging around the air. Ruby broke it. “We’re not?”
Weiss stared at Ruby, flushed and wide eyed. “Ahh… pfft… what? What do you mean we’re not?! “ Shrilled Weiss.
Ruby tilt her head, genuinely confused. “We're dating, right?”
 Weiss sputtered. “W-what?! Dating?! How?!”
Ruby's arms flailed around. “I mean, we go out on dates.”
 “Th-that’s just a hang out.”
 “We hold hands.”
 “That’s normal.”
 “I always kiss your cheeks.”
“That’s—wait, what? Isn’t that what normal friends do?” Weiss had her eyebrows furrowed, her eyes darting to and fro.
“A minute in this conversation and I’m already in a friend zone. Wow.” Said Ruby, sarcastically. The five could only stare at the two conversing. Amused, and confused in Jaune’s case.
“So we’re not dating?” Pondered Ruby. Weiss shook her head vehemently. “No we’re not! What makes you think of that?”
“You know, at the park. In the hill. In the library. I could list more events. Or do you want it in detail?” Asked Ruby. Yang was kind enough to break the conversation… only to fuel it more.
“So wait, you're not in a secret relationship?” She asked, gesturing at the two.
“No! Why—why would you all think that?!” Yelled Weiss. Blake answered. “Lingering stares. Love struck smiles. Shoulder touching.”
Weiss looked at the Faunus. “Are you describing yours and Yang’s relationship?” Burn.
Blake looked at her wide eyed. “I… right… are we?” She looked at Yang.
“We kinda were… yeah—like that.” Winced Yang. Blake didn’t get over the initial shock.
Weiss faced Ruby. “So, back at the problem at hand. Why would you think that?”
“Because I like you?” Answered Ruby, more like questioning. “I mean, I thought I had already shown it pretty well.”
Weiss sputters, again. “I—wha… you, uhmm… really?”
Ruby gave her an exasperated expression and Weiss awkwardly grinned at her. She cleared her throat. “I wouldn’t opposed with the thought.” She whispered.
Ruby perked up and grinned. “Really?” Weiss nodded. “But I still don’t get why you think we’re dating when you didn’t even asked me out—” Ruby was about to retort, but was cut off. “Officially.”
“Weiss Schnee, will you be my girlfriend?” Stated Ruby in confidence. Weiss booped her nose. “Not until you give me a proper date.”
Ruby grinned and held her hand. “Deal.”
The went off on their own and back to the city and left the group staring at their backs. Yang blinked and spoke. “Well, that happened.”
The rest of the group looked at her. Pyrrha looked away. Ren drummed his fingers on the table. Blake sipped her tea, loudly. Nora shook in her sit. And Jaune, well, still Jaune.
Jaune then face planted on the coffee table. Whoops, I spoke to soon. Jaune groaned and Pyrrha rubbed soothing circles at his back.
 “Such misfortune.” Grumbled Jaune.
“I’m still here.” Offered Pyrrha, smiling. Jaune smiled weakly. “Thanks Pyrrha. I appreciate it.”
Pyrrha visibly frowned. Jaune didn’t noticed. Blake rolled her eyes. And the rest face palmed. “Dense.”
Jaune looked up in confusion. “What?”
 Notes:
This one was actually, it was hard to think of a thing for it. Like, I don’t want to make the prompt, literal. I want it on a different light, than your typical secret relationship AU where you know, hide then got found out and angst ensues. Nah, I don’t want that. I want it fluff-friendly.
The idea of the scene by scene didn’t get to be after I was writing Yang’s story.
I want to see more fluff whiterose. So yeah.

Hey there Cutegirlmayra, I was wondering if you would like to do this fanfic. In Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and Amy are married with kids ( they are now adults in this fic ) before Sonic goes to stop Dr. Eggman, his kids were cheering him on and say "Your our hero, Dad!!! You never fail to save the day!!" then Sonic's reply with a wink, "I'll come back home before you know it!!!"... But he failed and changed form, "What will my kids think of me now?"
I would love to do this fanfiction, thank you for the opportunity!
Tumblr media
PROMPTS ARE ON SHUTDOWN! Do not submit any prompts! the grand reopening has yet to be announced, please wait patiently until then, my faithful Cuties!
Prompt:
“Take him down, Dad!”
“Left kick, then hit him with the right!”
“Woooahhhh, so cool!”
The three triplet boys all climbed and weighed on their Mother, who patiently, but clearly feeling uncomfortable seemed to enjoy the boys enthusiasm over their father’s victory on the television.
“Blast that-!”
“HEDGEHOG!” the three children mimicked, laughing and mocking Eggman as the youngest two slid down the couch and landed beside Amy, giggling as she ticked them in their excitement.
What a joyful family moment.
Her oldest was laid on her head, pushing himself up constantly by having his hand slack down and then smush her face with his continual attempts to remain on top.
“Alright, boys. That’s enough t.v for one day.” She picked the boy up off of her head and placed him on her lap, smiling, “Your dad still is pretty cool, isn’t he?”
“Yeah!” the three boys exclaimed before looking over her shoulder and gasping. “Daddy’s home!!!”
“Hey! Did you see the news?” Sonic, who had zipped in like a gust of wind from the window, made his triumphant entrance known as his hands held to his hips.
Hanging from his arms, grocery bags.
But not for long.
“Daddy!!!” The kids all clambered over the other to get a better view of him behind the couch, “Kisses, daddy, kisses!”
Sonic moved over to Amy and gave her an affection head bump on her forehead before rubbing the kids’s head.
“Kisses?” He scoffed, “Since when?”
The kids all giggled and quickly scrambled over to the other side of the couch, but he ran quickly to the side they were once on, and they all piled over the other to get to him first.
“Kisses, Daddy, kisses!!!”
Amy gave Sonic a sly look with a smirk, as though he wasn’t going to get out of this one, especially since it was the kids asking.
Sonic faked a long sigh, bending his knees and leaning back a bit to over-exaggerate as the kids all laughed at his antics.
“Fine.” he pretended to ‘ignite’ his lips like you would a car engine, then fully got it in throttle and began zipping around, threatening to overwhelm them with kisses as they all hurried away in a game of chase.
He didn’t pursue though, after giving them each one kiss he came back to the couch, “You better hide! Cause you can’t run!”
The giggles gave them away but Amy just got up from the couch and readjusted her clothes that were stretched from all the kids climbing over her.
“I haven’t seen that engine revved up in a long time.” She teased, looking a little pitiful but failing to keep up the appearance.
She blushed and smiled when he pivoted his form to her and took a macho step forward before swaggering closer over to her.
“A while? I’d say you were the one that got it started.” he gave her a look she knew too well at this point but taunted him by flinging her face to the side and tilting her body, just giving him her cheek.
“Ah! The rejection!” he dramatically held his chest as though his heart was breaking. “Such a cruel wife.”
“Such a monster of a husband!” she grabbed the tuff of quills that were positioned on the top of his head, forcing him to stay put. “You left to fight Eggman without so much as eating a bite of dinner!”
“I took a nibble,” he argued, trying to submit a little more to her brute strength and not fight her on this one. He knew by now, too, that this was her way of showing affection. “And I’m about to take a bite! Rawr!” he had feigned submission!
“Ah! Sonic! Ahh! No, wait, what if the kids-Eeee~!” In a loving tussle, Sonic got the upper hand. It’s clear the relationship with the family was strong, but then there was a sudden alarm that came from the still playing television.
The kids all peeked their heads out, one at a time, trying to spy on their mother and father before seeing them still slightly holding one another while their full attentions were on the news.
“Dark Gaia? That can’t be. He shouldn’t be awakened, not for a couple of thousand or so years, a millennia even, right? Oh, I forget after this long.” Amy tried to remember, lightly hitting her head before looking worriedly up at Sonic.
“Last time… you became-”
“Not again,” Sonic’s eyes glared forward. “I won’t turn into that thing again.”
Amy saw the hatred in Sonic’s eyes… she knew he lost a friend that day, but also couldn’t fight well enough to protect him. Light Gaia… Or chip, as Sonic knew him… used his own power to stop Dark Gaia.
“Wouldn’t that mean Chip’s back too?”
Sonic knew she was reaching for hope, it was one of her many great qualities, but that didn’t seem likely.
He didn’t want to worry her either…
In typical Sonic style, he remained silent a moment, in serious contemplation, before turning back to her and smiling warmly with an air of comfort about him.
He placed his hands lightly to her arms, “It’ll be okay.” He assured her, “You keep the kids safe, I’ll deal with Eggman.” he lightly kissed her and sped off.
“Your our hero, Dad!!!” A child ran out the door after him, but clearly couldn’t keep up just yet. “You never fail to save the day!!” Another child exclaimed, having been scooped up by Amy who held him on her side in her arms.
She looked out with that same loving worry on her face.
With an infamous cocky attitude, Sonic’s reply was nothing that wasn’t expected. “I’ll come back home before you know it!!!” He winked, hearing his children cheer him on in glee.
3 months later…
Huffing like a train that had just breaked at the right moment, Sonic’s werehog form fell to its knees and watched as Dark Gaia slowly fell back into the earth…
“Gotta find… gah… Chip.” He moved his hands out in front of him and struggled to push up from the edge of the broken world.
Tails had found evidence that Chip was still asleep, without him, he couldn’t put Dark Gaia to rest again… he needed his old friend, but this time, for more than just the world.
“How’s my family, Tails?” Sonic put a hand to his ear, a small device inside of it. “Tails? What’s the reading on Chip? Have you located him? Is he close to waking up? Tails? Tails?! Answer me!”
When nothing came back, he slowly lowered his hand… but the worst-case scenario zapped into his mind like a raging bullet, and he quickly drew it up again, “Tails! Please! Is Amy and the kids okay!?”
No response…
He groaned, walking back before pacing back to the cliff, “I can’t show up to the house looking like… like this!” he looked over his claws, his large stature. “Ugh!” he swiped his head back, “But I have to know if they’re safe…” He kept walking but stopped again. “No… I should trust Amy! She can handle it.” He paced back to the edge, looking down at Dark Gaia regaining consciousness, roaring a piercing cry, and slithering down into the earth’s core again.
“He’ll be back… I’ve only agitated him.” Sonic thought out loud, moving back away from the edge. “I can’t find Chip without Tails giving me a location. And in order to find Tails… Home is on the way…” he made a fist with one of his hands, fighting his own pride on the matter.
“I’ll just take a peek. I’m not as fast as I once was in my day form, but this is all it takes… one second to see them all safe and sound. One moment to know I did good, that everything’s alright still… Eggman… If you did anything to my family… you can do whatever you want to me! But when you jeopardize the world and people that I love-!” he almost looked angry, turning his fangs to the sky as he gritted his teeth, feeling like he was making a vow to the universe or something now… “I won’t forgive you so easily.” he narrowed his sights… and ran on all fours, stretching his arm out to swing all the way int the direction of home.
Upon arriving, he was surprised. The lights were on and music was playing.
Amy’s typical ‘good motherly instincts’ telling her to keep everything lively and happy while Sonic was away, not wanting to distress the kids too much…
He smiled, “Good on ya, Amy…” Though he knew her reasoning,… the warm atmosphere of home drew him to crawl closer to the window, going for a peek.
When he did, he saw Amy dancing with one of the boys, the other two were keeping the rhythm going. One was clapping while the other insisted on hitting pots and pans like a drummer, wanting to be in a band.
Sonic’s heart softened from it’s raging thumping to one of a still beat, glad to see his worries were for nothing.
“What am I doing? This is too risky. They’re safe. That’s all I needed to know so…”
He kept staring in on the happy home, wishing he was apart of it too.
“Why do I feel this isn’t enough?”
“Daddy?”
He blinked his eyes and looked down.
“GAH!” he quickly stood up, flinching back in surprise at seeing his kid.
“AHHH!!! THE MONSTER!” the boy screamed and drew down the curtain, while Sonic’s balance was put off, his eyebrows also bent in hurt.
“M…Monster? Wa-ah!” he fell on his back. “Ouch.” he rubbed his head and tried to get up, but in the middle of the night, Amy with her powerful Piko Piko Hammer stepped outside to look around in the bushes.
“A-Amy! Wait!” PIKO!
As Sonic awoke the next day, the kids were amazed the monster was actually their father.
Embarrassed, Sonic dashed off to find Tails.
However… that night…
“It’s alright, It’s daddy.” Amy coaxed her oldest towards Sonic.
“H-how did you know I was..?” Sonic, backing away, looked to Amy but saw out of the corner of his eye–Professor Pickle nodding to him. “But… why?!” He glared slightly, “Amy, this isn’t-!”
He stomped his foot down, something that should have been light in his old appearance, just as yesterday’s surprise fall should have made the kids roll on the ground with laughter.
But instead… this spooked his oldest, who went running back behind his mother.
“N-no… Kid, I’m sorry…” he outreached his hand to him, but pulled it back. He pressed his eyes shut and turned away from them, “Get out of here… all of you.” he tightened his fist, but then loosened them in defeat. “Your dad has to save the world, keep you all safe… just forget you ever saw this… this monster and get going. Listen to your mother and head straight home.”
With that growling voice, the children were still hesitant. But the oldest heard something in that voice differently. It stood out to him, when his father used to tell him stories and the hero’s fall would be followed by a swift revival of righteous virtues that would put an end to injustice.
He slowly approached the monster’s back… then, tilting his head, he sniffed as his nose bounced around.
His eyes brightened a moment, and he held his arms up to his father, “Daddy..!”
As he stumbled forward, he called again, seeing Sonic’s eyes turn back to him, amazed by his son’s courage to see past the frightful appearance, especially for a child.
“Daddy! Daddy, up!” he groped the air as a child his age would, bouncing up and down excitedly.
Sonic’s shoulders slumped and his heart melted yet again to the sound of his children wanting his attention.
“Alright… one up, then you have to go home.” He gave in, hoisting his son up.
The child laughed, but as he was being pulled back down, he gripped Sonic’s hair and began to poke around in it. “Daddy got hairy.”
“Daddy has to shave?” The middlest child stuck his head out from behind his mother. “Daddy grew a beard?”
“All over his body!!!” the youngest overly pointed out and laughed, running over to his father, “Daddy, daddy, you’re a beard monster!”
“Daddy’s not a monster!” The oldest snapped back, “He’s just gotta get a haircut…” He continued to fiddle with his father’s hair.
“I like it! He’s fluffy now! Up, daddy!” The youngest jumped to his arm, feeling the new size and texture of it before jumping as though on a ride, waiting for the coin to slide in Sonic’s heart and help him jump start the small entertainment.
“Me too, up daddy! I want up too!” The middlest ran over and at this point, Sonic was too choked up to say anything.
“Daddy!” “Dada!” “Daddy’s crying!”
“I am not!” Sonic lifted his arm up, the one where his youngest was, who ‘weee!’d at the movement as Sonic draped his arm over his eyes, leaning his head back. “Daddy’s just happy.” he sniffed, “To have amazing and empathic kids like you.”
“We’re empty?”
“No, honey.” Amy giggled, also emotional as her hands covered her smiling mouth. “The complete opposite.” she was tearing up too.
The acceptance of his children, playing with them in this new form and really making the game ‘monster chasing us’ a new thrill, Sonic learned that it wasn’t just his friends who chose to see him differently…
His children would always love their affectionate, and heroic, father. Regardless what he looked like, they would always accept him as the greatest hero in their lives.
BONUS:
“Are these your kids?”
The kids all dog-piled Chip who was hovering in the air.
“Woah, hey! No biting! Easy on the tail!” he was kicking his legs out everywhere as the kids all loved on him.
When he finally got away, he pulled out some chocolate, “I LOOOOOOVEEE them! Hey, who wants chocolate? Who wants chocolate~? Anyone? Oh you do~ and you, and you~ Hey, give me that chocolate bar back! I want some too! Heeeyyy~” He flew after them as they laughed and played keep-away.

Summary: Luke and Caroline adjust to life with Charlie.
A/N: This might be my new obsession. Feel free to come chat about any ideas you have about this family so I can continue to drag this out from here until forever.
Content: *wonders why I still bother with this when we all know the content I create* Soft. It’s soft.
Word Count: 3.4k
And away, and away we go!
__
Luke rolled over in his sleep, Caroline’s side of the bed warm, but empty. His eyelids were heavy as he struggled to open them. He was about to call out for her when the green blinking of the baby monitor caught his attention. With a yawn, he pushed himself out of bed, shuffling across the hall. There, in the soft glow of a nightlight, Caroline sat up with Charlie, gently swaying back and forth in the rocking chair. “I know,” she was murmuring softly. “I know you want to be held. I know it’s scary. And I want to hold you and make you not scared. But, Charlie, Momma needs sleep.”
Luke leaned in the doorframe, the wood creaking. Caroline’s head snapped up to see him smiling at her, curls wild from sleep. “I’ll take him,” he whispered, crossing the room to her. “Go get some sleep, Care.”
“Lu, I’m fine,” she protested as he lifted the baby from her, tucking Charlie against his shoulder.
“Shh, little man. I gotcha,” he soothed when the infant let out a noise of dissatisfaction from being moved. “When did he last eat?”
“Couple minutes ago.” She stretched back into the rocking chair, her mouth dropping open as she yawned. “There’s more in the fridge if he gets hungry again. Just warm it up a little. Not too much. Just to ro-.” Her sentence got cut off as she fell asleep.
“Shit, Momma’s asleep, little man. No, I know, it’s a good thing. But I can’t leave her in the chair all night. And I can’t put her to bed while holding you. So I gotta put you down for a second, okay? Yeah, I know you’re not gonna like it, but I’ll be quick.” Luke placed Charlie in the swing, clicking it onto the first setting so it gently swayed side to side. “Right back,” he promised before turning back to Caroline. “Okay, up we go.” He placed one arm under her knees, the other just under her shoulder blades, cradling her to him.
“Charlie,” she mumbled in her sleep as her fingers bunched around Luke’s tank top.
“Shh, I got it. Just rest, Momma,” he told her as he placed her in bed and covered her with the blanket.
Caroline woke up to find both her boys asleep in the guest room, Charlie tucked safely between Luke’s chest and his boppy.
~~~
“Happy Father’s Day, Lu,” Caroline grinned as she passed him the gift after a lazy morning of breakfast in bed and plenty of baby cuddles.
Luke sat up to rest his back against the headboard of their bed, Charlie sitting on one of his legs. “Oh, what do we got, little man?” he asked, his tone high with excitement as he reached in the gift bag and pulled out a picture frame with a picture of him asleep on the couch with Charlie asleep on his shoulder already behind the glass.
“I know it’s not much, but,” Caroline started, but Luke cut her off.
“No. I love it. Thank you, baby.”
“Well, it’s your day. Whaddya wanna do?”
“Kinda liking just laying here with you guys.”
“Really?” she frowned. “Lu, it’s your first Father’s Day. I know he’s little, but if you want to go out, we can.”
“Nah,” Luke waved her off. “I got you guys. That’s all I need.”
~~~
Caroline’s pout didn’t leave her face the whole drive over to Ashton and Britt’s. “Care, he’s gonna be fine,” Luke told her, his hand giving her thigh a squeeze. “It’s just one night.”
“I’m still gonna miss him, Lu,” she sighed, looking over her shoulder into the backseat. She waved at Charlie through the little mirror, who stared back at her those grey eyes. It was a much softer grey than when he had first been born, and she reveled in the fact that he would have Luke’s eyes to go with that little pixie nose. And Luke’s curls, even if they were the same dark brown color as her own hair.
“I’m gonna miss him too, Care. But,”
“But he loves being with Britt and Ash. And we deserve a night out,” she deadpanned the reasons they’d been telling themselves for the last month.
“Hey, look at me,” he coaxed, putting the car in park in Ashton’s driveway.
Caroline peeled her eyes away from her son to look at Luke. Her bottom lip quivered. “Lu…”
His thumb caught the tear halfway down her cheek. “Do you wanna take our boy back home?”
“What?” She wasn’t sure she heard him correctly, having not expected the question at all.
“Look, I can tell Ash that something came up. I can cancel the room. And we can go back home and have a night in.”
“Lu, I- no. No, we’re doing this. The plans are already made. We’re already here. Plus, the longer we put this off, the harder it’ll be later. We deserve this. We all do.”
“That’s my girl.”
~~~
“Oh, fuck,” Caroline marveled as they walked across the lobby. “When’s the last time we stayed in a hotel this fancy?”
“Mmm, Korea. When you surprised me for my birthday that one year.”
“No… has it really been that long?”
“Nah, probably not. There were probably others. But that one sticks out.”
“Is that so?” she teased, knowingly.
“Oh, yeah,” he grinned. “Korea was awesome.”
“You call Britt damn near killing me the first day ‘awesome’?”
“Yeah, cuz that’s what made it awesome. Plus, Britt never woulda actually killed ya.” He shot her a wink before turning his attention to the receptionist behind the desk. “Hi, room for Bennett,” he said, giving forth her last name that they always booked their room under.
The receptionist tapped away at the keyboard before getting their keys. “Room 3405. Elevators are to your left. Enjoy your stay.”
“Room service or hot tub?” Caroline asked, practically skipping her way to the elevator.
“What if I told you I got us the room with the fancy tub so we don’t have to choose?”
“I’d said I love you Luke Bennett!” she laughed.
“Oh, we’re taking your name are we? See, here’s the problem with that,” he said, wrapping her close as they waited for the elevator. “Our son already has my name. And I quite like my name, too.”
She rolled her eyes playfully. “You’re supposed to say ‘And I love you too, Caroline Hemmings!’”
“How about I ask you to be Caroline Hemmings, instead?” he asked. One hand dropped from around her to reach into his pants pocket, producing the small ring box.
She whirled around in his arms to look up at him. “Lu…”
“Say yes, Care. Say yes, so I can spend all night showing you how I’ll make this the best choice of your life.”
“Yes!”
~~~
“So, how was your night, Mrs. Merch Girl?” Ashton teased when they dropped by to pick up Charlie early the next afternoon.”
“You knew?!” Caroline asked in surprise, taking Charlie from his arms.
“Course I knew,” he smirked.
“Then maybe you could have coached him better on his proposal.”
Luke crossed his arms over his chest, fake glaring at his fiancee and friend. “Hey! I did what felt right in the moment. And you said yes, didn’t you?”
“Aw, mate… ya butchered the delivery? Well, I guess not everyone has your girl’s expertise.” Ashton clapped Luke on the shoulder, his cocky smirk wide as ever.
“Don’t tease him,” Caroline defended Luke, swatting at Ashton’s arm. “At least it doesn’t take Luke forever to ask a question he knows the answer to.”
Ashton’s eyes flashed at the laughed insult and Caroline danced away from him. “Nuh-uh. Can’t hit me, I have the baby.”
“Fine,” Ashton muttered before punching Luke’s arm instead.
~~~
“Can you say ‘rawr!’?” Caroline asked, as she drew up the hood of Charlie’s dinosaur jacket. “Ready? Rawr!”
Charlie blew bubbles at her.
“Eh, close enough.”
“Care, are you sure we can’t squeeze in just a little bit of trick or treating in before the party? Like around the block?” Luke’s voice asked as he came into the baby’s room.
“Lu, he’s only five months.”
“So? We can eat his candy.”
“We have candy here,” she pointed out.
The man pouted. “Please, Care? We can take him over to the guys’ places and just pretend.”
“Fine. Take dino-boy.”
“Yes! You hear that, little man? You’re going trick or treating!” Luke swooped Charlie up and sat back carefully in the rocking chair while fake screaming “Aaahhhh! Dino-boy’s gonna get me! Oh no!”
Charlie Hemmings was the cutest trick-or-treater his aunties and uncles had ever seen.
~~~
Charlie’s eyes were wide as he watched the lights twinkle on the Christmas tree at Luke’s parents house. “Yeah, they’re pretty, aren’t they Charlie?” Liz asked him as she held him on her hip. “You know I was worried you guys wouldn’t want to come this year.”
“What? Mum, I always spend Christmas with you,” Luke laughed.
“I know, but I wasn’t sure how you’d feel about flying with Charlie. It’s a long flight for anyone, much less a baby.”
“Oh I bet it was nothing,” Ben started to tease.
“Yeah, Mum. Luke’s a big shot with a private jet, remember? Had the whole flight to themselves,” Jack joined in.
Luke rolled his eyes while everyone else laughed. “Honestly, Mum, it was fine,” Caroline told Liz.
“Your parents weren’t upset?”
“Mum, we’ve been over this,” Luke cut back in. “Care’s parents get Thanksgiving. You guys get Christmas.”
“Thanksgiving...” the Hemmings shuddered collectively.
“It’s not all bad,” Luke shrugged. He had personally come to like the American holiday because of all the food.
~~~
Caroline could hear the happy babble as she walked downstairs. “Can you say ‘Dada’? Try it! Dada. Dada, dada, dada. Ow, no, that’s my nose.”
She giggled watching Charlie grab at Luke’s nose, bubbles around his lips as he tried to make sounds beyond his high-pitched coos.
“No, not ‘eeeeAH!’,” Luke mimicked the coo. “Dada. Dada. Dada. Dada. Oh! Look, there’s Momma. Can you say ‘Momma’? Momma. Dada.”
Caroline sat next to them on the couch, hand ruffling at Luke’s hair before smiling at Charlie. “C’mon, little man,” she encouraged, tickling his ribs to make him laugh. “C’mon. Momma. Mom-ma.”
“Mmmuhhh mmmomm,” Charlie babbled.
“Yes!” she cheered, snatching him close to her. “That’s right! I’m Momma. Now who’s that?” She shifted so that the eight month old boy could see Luke. “Who’s that?” she asked again, poking at Luke. “Is that Dada?”
“Ppppaaa papapapa,” Charlie shrieked happily, grabbing for Luke.
“Works for me!” Luke grinned at his son. “Yes. That’s Momma,” he pointed at Caroline. “And I’m Dada or Papa, I guess. We’ll work on that d sound. And you’re Charlie!”
Charlie responded with a babbled shriek that followed Luke’s own pitch change.
~~~
“Can you believe that we met four years ago?” Caroline asked, her eyes soft with amazement.
“And now you’re my wife,” Luke answered her, his voice thick with emotion.
She leaned her head back in the pillows, giggling. “I’m your wife! Fuck! That’s so fun to say!”
“I’m sorry it didn’t happen the way it should’ve.”
She turned on her side to face him, his hands crossed underneath his head, peering up at the ceiling. “Hey, don’t do that.”
“You deserved better than a wedding thrown together in six months. You deserve a honeymoon traveling through Europe for a month, not a weekend out of town. You deserve so much more than I’ve given you.” He kept his gaze on the ceiling, finishing his train of thought with a sniff.
“I just said not to do that,” she said as she rolled on top of him, grabbing at his chin to tilt his head so he would look at her. “It’s not about the wedding or the honeymoon. It’s just a day. It’s just a trip. You want to know what does matter?”
He looked at her expectantly.
“It matters that you’re a good dad to Charlie, and a good partner to me. And you are. You do so much for me and that little boy. And we love you so much for it. And,” she would have gone on to express that she meant every word of her vows about loving him until the end of time, but both of their phones started ringing. She checked the caller IDs, frowning. “It’s Britt, hold on.”
“Yeah, Ash is calling me, too. Take it,” he said, showing her his own phone lit up with Ashton’s contact.
“Hello?” they both answered their phones.
“Hhhheeeey, sorry to bother you on your honeymoon and all,” Britt started, much too slowly for Caroline’s liking.
She cut her friend off with a tense, “What’s wrong with Charlie, Britt?”
“Long story short, we think he has an ear infection so we’re taking him to the doctor.”
“I'll meet you there as soon as I can.”
“I’m sorry!”
“It’s not anyone’s fault, Britt. We’re leaving now.”
“Nah, man, don’t worry about it. Shit happens. We’re on our way,” Luke was saying as Caroline hung up with Britt and started gathering their stuff. “Okay, I will definitely make this up to you,” he told her as he stepped into his jeans that were pooled up by the side of the bed.
“Did Ash tell you what happened?” She threw their belongings back in their suitcase, not caring enough to fold them properly.
“Had a fever last night. Gave him some medicine. He went down for the night. Woke up crying, rubbing at his ear, and the fever’s back.” His voice got muffled as his head went through his shirt. “You ready to go?” he asked, sitting on the edge of the bed to put on his socks and shoes.
“Yeah, I’m ready,” she nodded, eyes darting around the room. She was missing something.
“Care?”
“Yeah?”
“I know my shirt falls practically to your knees, but you wanna put some real clothes on?”
Her eyes went wide with realization before throwing the suitcase open and digging through it. “Yep. Great idea.”
After another frenzied dash about the room, her teeth worried her bottom lip as she kept her eyes glued to the numbers signally the floor level in the elevator. “C’mon, c’mon,” she hurried under her breath.
“He’ll be alright, Care.” Luke’s fingers slowly worked to unclench her fist, crescent shapes dug into her palm.
“I know. I just-”
“I know.”
Caroline wasn’t sure what was worse. The look in Luke’s eyes that went so much deeper than just concern for their son; like somehow he personally had failed his family. The slow elevator ride- did elevators move this slow all the time? Or the somehow even slower Uber ride to the airport, flight back to Los Angeles, and then the last Uber ride to the hospital. They didn’t say a word, instead communicating via worried glances, troubled sighs, and holding each other tight.
“Hemmings, Charlie,” Caroline’s voice was hurried and breathless as she gripped the receptionist desk.
A sharp whistle cut off whatever the nurse was going to tell her. “Luke, Care, we’re in here,” Ashton said.
Caroline sprinted over to Ashton while Luke muttered a fast, “Thank you,” to the nurse before following his wife who already had a- very happy- Charlie cradled to her.
“Just a little ear infection,” the doctor was saying. “Nothing to fret over. I told your friends they were free to take him home, but they insisted you were on your way and would want to talk.”
“Dadadada,” Charlie babbled, writhing in his mother’s arms when he saw Luke.
“Hey, little man,” Luke smiled, taking him from Caroline. “You think it’s funny scaring everyone?”
“Care, we’re so sorry,” Britt started.
The other woman held up her hand. “There’s nothing to apologize for.”
“But your honeymoon…”
“Not important.”
“I’m gonna run over to the pharmacy to get this filled. Then Britt and I will take Charlie back to our place if you guys wanna head on back to your trip, or...” Ashton let the end of his proposition hang in the air, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
“It’s up to you, Care,” Luke told her.
Caroline looked between her friends and son. Charlie was fine. Happy even. But she wasn’t sure she wanted to deal with another flight back up to San Francisco just to fly back home again tomorrow. But they could still enjoy an empty home, knowing that if anything did happen, they’d just be a short drive away. “If you guys don’t mind taking him, that’d be great. But I just want to go home, if that’s okay, Lu.”
“Whatever you want, baby,” Luke nodded.
She smiled, reaching forward to rub at Charlie’s back. “Whaddya think, little man? Want to go back to Uncle Ash and Auntie Britt’s house?”
“Sshhhh, bbbbb!” Charlie responded, clapping his hands.
“Okay, but stop scaring people, mister!” She made a fake stern face and wagged her finger in front of him.
“Mmmuhh mmmmomm.”
Ashton took that as his cue to run over to the pharmacy while the rest of them moved to the waiting room. “Okay, seriously, can you two stop with the whipped puppy dog look?” Caroline scolded her husband and friend in a hushed whisper as Charlie started to nod off on Luke’s shoulder. “Nothing is ruined.”
“But-”
“Lu, what did you tell Ash on the phone?”
“Not to worry about because shit happens.”
“Exactly. Shit happens. Our son got sick, and we did what we do when our son gets sick. That’s all that happened. So just… stop. Whatever guilt trip you’re taking yourselves on, stop.”
~~~
Charlie’s signature high-pitched screech had Caroline’s eyes snapping open. “Ow! Geez, little man,” Luke winced, holding Charlie out at arm’s length. “I thought we agreed to go on three.”
“What are my boys upto?” her voice rasped, still heavy with sleep.
“Ha-ppy Mother’s Day!” Luke cheered as he fell backwards on the bed, still holding Charlie away from him, arms fully extended. “Oh, no! Flying baby! Incoming! Aaaahhhh!” Luke moved his arms, Charlie moving with him, as he made airplane whooshing noises, the bedroom coming to life with laughter.
“Are you ready for your present?” Luke asked, breathless, as they laid amongst the pillows and blankets after the laughter died down.
“Aw, you got me a present?”
Luke’s eyes twinkled as he reached down beside the bed, grabbing blindly for the bag he’d been hiding. “Don’t gimme that fake innocent surprise. Of course I got you a present.”
Caroline gasped happily as he dropped the bag in her lap. “Oh, Lu!” she marveled, running her index finger across the soundwaves and the translation of “Happy Mother’s Day, Momma. We love you,” underneath it engraved in the wooden plaque. “It’s perfect. Thank you.”
“Happy Mother’s Day, baby.”
~~~
“Okay, but what do people even do at a one year old’s birthday party?” Luke wondered as he tacked up the decorations around the house.
“I- you know what, I have no fuckin clue.”
“Then why are we doing this again?”
“Because our baby is one, Lu! And it’s just family, so it’ll just be like any other family get together.”
“But with cake, and presents, and shitty decorations.”
“Exactly.”
“Hey, Care?”
“Yeah?”
“I love you. And I think you’re doing an awesome job as a mom.” With each word he took a step closer to her. “And you’re one hot ass wife,” he finished with a wink, his hands grazing along her hips before resting firmly on her ass.
Caroline’s cheeks flushed as she swatted at him. “Stop! You’re gonna make me blush. And cry.”
“Hey, I mean it. I don’t say it as often as I should, but I do mean it. You’ve made my life better, and complete than I thought possible. And I know I technically have Ash to thank for that, it’s because of you that we made it this far. You and Charlie are the best parts of my world.”
“I told you you were gonna make me cry!” she whined into his chest, sniffing back the tears. She felt his chest rumble with his throaty chuckle as his hands ran up and down her back. “And if we’re being sentimental, then I hope you know that you are the greatest love of my life, and the best dad to our son. And, no, I don’t tell you as often as I should, either. But I mean it, Luke. And I promise I’ll try to tell you more that you’re an amazing father and husband you are, and how I’m going to love you until the world stops turning, because you, Luke Hemmings, are my best years.”
