Prompt 271
“Grandmother is visiting,” Damian suddenly said with no warning and with his usual not-quite demanding tone.
“Who?” Tim wasn’t the only one to startle, seeing as Bruce had practically froze, a downturn to his lips in a silent show of confusion.
Damian scowled. “Are you deaf Drake? Grandmother is coming to Gotham to, quote, make sure I am being properly cared for.” None of them had known that Ras was with anyone actually. At least Tim was pretty sure that would have been in the files.
“Oh?” Dick didn’t quite crouch to Damian’s height but it was a near thing. “She-” “He,” Damian corrected, interrupting him. They all exchanged a glance before Dick continued.
“Is he coming to the Manor or…”
Damian scoffed again, a tiny bit of a flush against his face. “No, Grandmother will most likely be staying with Akhi-”
Now wait one moment-
“YOU HAVE ANOTHER BROTHER?!”

Do I actually think Imogen is going to turn on the party? No. I don't think it’s any more likely to happen than I did Fjord releasing Uk’otoa, or Caleb returning to Trent and the Vollstruckers.
Given the nature of the game, any character turning fully dark is unlikely, seeing as it would take them away from the party for a time or potentially even turn them into an npc, replaced by a new pc. So far the only time we've gotten close to seeing something like it happen was Yasha siding with Obann, which could only happen specifically because Ashley was gone from the table for a long time (it was also the product of mind control, not an active choice to turn dark, and as such still doesn’t really count as a pc turning on the party in my eyes).
But the possibility is there. The seeds planted. Travis has talked about how, after he threw the falchion away, he briefly considered having Fjord leave the party and retun to the coast and Uk’otoa. Liam has mentioned that, early on, Caleb returning to work for Trent was a very real possibilty. It can happen, if the players and narrative are open to it.
And now, canonically, Imogen is desperately and understandably searching for a reason not to have to fight her own mother. She is, however briefly, questioning whether the Ruby Vanguard might have a just cause. Much as she hates it, she also feels the allure of the power Ruidus gives her. Her closest ally is someone who has repeatedly assured she will stand by her no matter what she chooses, even after she voiced the possibility of letting Predathos get out. None of these parts of Imogen are evil, and all of them are understandable and deeply rooted in pain and ostracization, but they could very easily be turned into justification, were she pushed enough.
The seeds are planted. Again, I don’t think it will happen (she seems firmly against the evil plan when reminded of how evil it is), but there’s certainly nothing strange or hateful about engaging with and being interested in the darker possibilities as presented in canon. It isn't character hate to acknowledge that Imogen has the potential to go dark, much as Fjord and Caleb and Yasha. To me, it’s what makes her character interesting. I want to see her clash with the party, whether because she’s desperate to save her own mother or because she’s high off the power of Ruidus and lured in. I want to see Laudna have to choose between the world and her promise to stand by Imogen no matter what. I want to see the fallout, the slow healing and redemption and coming to terms with bad choices. I eat that shit up, and if it doesn’t happen in canon I'll probably go read some fic about it to get my fix.

I am tired of people who are unironically woobifying homura and saying all of her actions were completely justified and she has done nothing wrong or made any bad choices in her life ever and cannot possibly be a morally gray character doing nuanced actions
I am also tired of people who unironically see her as the literal devil and act all of her actions were done with malicious intent and that she’s super obsessed with madoka and has never done a single good thing in her life and also cannot grasp that she might be a morally gray character doing nuanced actions
For the love of god the statements “Homura isn’t a horrible person she just wants to protect the people she loves” and “Homura has done some morally dubious actions and that should not be over-looked” aren’t two mutually exclusive statements and I’m tired of some people pretending that they are

There's something absolutely ironic and even compelling to me about the domino effect regarding Akechi and Sae's interactions. Akechi had to deceive everyone, including his coworkers. Sae in particular was closely tied to the investigations of the crimes he was committing, so of course appearing as non-threatening or even annoying as possible to her was in his best interests.
However, his petty but arguably feeble masquerade is what led to his cognitive self in Sae's brain presumably being easy for the Phantom Thieves to tie up? He was too good at deception and it led to Sae's perception of him being sopping wet cat, which was easy for the Thieves to subdue, so the threatening, real Akechi wouldn't stumble upon Sae's cognition of him as he went to murder Joker.
I know people usually discuss Shido's cognitive Akechi and the implications regarding Akechi's presentation of himself and his layers of deception, but Sae's is the direct contrast to Shido's, and it's very interesting to look at how being a petty little asshole to your stressed out hot lady coworker about her skincare routine can also contribute to her thinking of you a a nuisance at best (until it was almost too late for everyone involved, but hey, it worked out for the best? I think).
I love the layers of Akechi's deception because he was cunning to a fault. Sometimes I wish we could have seen how the Thieves interacted with Sae's cognition of him, because both Sae and Shido had a very biased perception of him, and it makes me wonder who really knew Akechi at all. I'm rambling here, but it's been on my mind for ages. I would love to see if her cognitive Akechi changed after 11/20, considering he went from annoying junior detective to a dangerous murderer in just one day for her, and she doesn't remember any of third semester or even 12/24 when he was there.

I think some folks MAY have gotten the wrong idea about how I feel about Circe with some of my posts. So, to clear the air...
Homies, I love that fucked up sorceress.
I love how we're never given a reason why she turns people into animals. That's so funny and so awful. And another potion-making magic gal?!?! I love that she's just basically vibing on an island doing whatever she wants. I even love the fact that she scares Odysseus shitless! She's morally gray and that's why she's FUN.
I just sincerely hate when people try to girlboss her or have her be a victim of SA when she never was Looking at you, Miller. Especially when she was actually the one who coerced Odysseus in exchange for his men being transformed back into humans. And even then, while he was clearly afraid of her, (it's in the language of the Odyssey) she likely meant him no harm after a certain point. He just didn't know that.
Why does she need a reason to do awful things? Why can't she just be a goddess who does whatever she wants? That's the reason why I love her!!! She's fucked up!!! :D
I hate what the Telegony did to her as well! >:( You're telling me, this sorceress goddess, who makes potions (!!!) wouldn't have magic contraceptives??? Would WANT CHILDREN?!?! WITH THE PATHETIC WIFEMAN?! No. Fuck no. Eugammon of Cyrene, I have beef with you 🤬
Anyways!!! Understand all the "#anti circe" I have is simply Anti "Girlboss Circe" or the book. I genuinely think she's neat af as her morally gray, fucked up sorceress self and just get frustrated with...everything :'D

gonna be real I don't get the takes saying Imogen's comment about Ludinus' view of the gods is out of left field or otherwise out of character for her. Personally I don't know how anyone didn't see this coming for her character from a mile away.
like, imogen temult? whose life was taken from her and twisted into something so miserable that before she met laudna she wasn't sure how to go on? imogen temult? who found that her mother was alive and left her because of the same powers that ruined her life to begin with? imogen temult, whose best friend is someone she was only allowed to meet to begin with because she was brutally tortured and murdered for display and wandered the world for 28 lonely years until she wound up in gelvaan? imogen temult, who watched fcg attribute the coin flip that took her best friend from her to the divine? imogen temult, who just learned that the person who killed her is working with her mother?
what in her entire life would have led her to feel anything but, at best, apathy towards the gods. she's probably been toeing the line of active disdain for divinity for longer than even she realized.
"they made some good points" isn't her agreeing with ludinus or falling for his pyramid scheme or whatever else. she isn't suddenly agreeing with the man who appears to want—to our and the players current understanding—to unleash a second calamity level event. she was specifically speaking to the effectiveness of their pantheon, of which she has been given every single reason to question.
the wildmother isn't leaving her magic imbued swords and backing winds. she doesn't have a coin to flip and leave her decisions up to some elevated being. she has her mother, who left her, and a god-eater trapped on the moon haunting her. given the entirety of her life, is it really so shocking that she is so ready to question the divine? even if it was a question presented from the antagonist?

i dont understand Paimon haters. thats my best friend, she’s LITERALLY just a silly little guy. She’s small and sassy and will follow you into terrifying battles with harbingers and literal GODS without a second thought despite the fact that they could swat her like a bug. The voice lines between the traveller and Paimon are delightful, they really are besties and its so fun!!
And maybe all the fan theories are right and she IS evil but you know what sometimes i support evil little creatures!!!!!

Okay Rom Headcannnon post (I’m thinking about her).
Her full name is Ramona- gets shortened to Rom by her friends.
Botany and Entomology expert!!
Actually just as fucked up and morally bankrupt as her peers (we LOVE that for her).
I can see her being the most outwardly mean to the hunters in this really passive aggressive way (all the scholars are rude to them for classist reasons Rom just vocalises that the most often).
That said I can see her being willing to help and cooperate more so than the other scholars too- especially if it concerns the feilds she’s passionate about.
I can see her getting close with Caryll and Ludwig specifically cus of their Great One connections.
Her relationship with Luddy starts specifically so she can steal his sword and run tests on it but she actually gets to know him and it helps her combat some of that afformentioned classism.
I think her and Micolash had like a thing. Not really romanic or sexual but they were closer than they were to anyone else.
That thing falls appart cus they’re both waaay more focused on their research than living people. Cus they don’t really see the point if they’re gonna ascend.
I think her and Mic were the people who decided to start cracking people’s skulls open at the Hamlet lmao.
I can see her putting herself forward for the “let’s eat Kos’ umbilical chord and see what happens” experiment very enthusiastically but over time she got disilusioned with the idea and regretted it deeply.
That said, Rom’s ascension was SLOW. Painfully slow. Like ‘did anything even happen?’ for the first few months after she ate the thing.
So life goes on as normal, she has some weird dreams but doesn’t really think much of them. Then everything comes to ahead at like senior year ball or smth.
And then it’s like SUDDEN and awful and traumatic and not what anyone (non the less Rom) was expecting it to be and she dies halfway through and her body is cut up and thrown into the lake.
Now Rom is a big spider without her big spider legs and she’s pissed off at her ex-peers for being complicit and that’s why she holds back the Blood Moon Mic wants I think.
Anyway she’s representative of women as test subjects that Laurence specifically goes on to do a lot more of as well as the more body horror aspects of ascension.
I also think she’s got something to do with those little eye spider guys in the Nightmare of Mensis but that might just be cus Mic’s thinking of her lmao.

never thought i'd see people try to argue or analyse wriothesley's murder in regards to his personality. i think people are missing the point. the situation has nothing to do with him and has everything to do with an extremely traumatic environment that made a small boy think the only solution so save himself and the people he cared about was to take the life of his abusers. it's not supposed to be rational, it wasn't premeditated, it wasn't about getting away with it. if you read his description of the murder you can see how out of it he was. his goal was to protect himself and his siblings and that's what he did. that's why he admitted to the crime so easily and why he is keen to associate the fortress as a rebirth place. he was just young, lost and traumatised and that's about it when it comes to the extension of it all.

teehees my way into your inbox. im bad at gauging unpopular stuff but i think evil spottedleaf aus are fun, especially if they're surrounding her discontent with dying so young and her wanting to stay within relevance by inserting herself into prophecy after prophecy.
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
I think it depends on the specific AU, but I think there’s good potential there! Canon Spotty was done dirty and I think there’s a lot you can do with her in a villain role.
The ones that don’t vibe with me are anything surrounding Firestar or Thistleclaw for obvious reasons but thankfully I don’t see a tonnnnn of that
That being said, I get why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea considering the discourse around her character.
