also not to rant all day but I saw a post earlier tangentially related and it made me realize why I have such a problem with a lot of recent YA (and was part of the reason why I got annoyed with Seasonal Fears, which I'll use as an example bc it's freshest in my memory):
I feel like you can hear all the fucking Twitter arguments the author has had on-page. Like, I feel like some authors spend more time trying to convey THEMSELVES and THEIR OPINIONS on socio-political issues, or (in SF's case) waste a ton of words trying to explain why a thing the internet has decided is Bad, Actually (ie. beefy jock boyfriends with fragile chronically ill girlfriends) is Fine in this scenario, because undoubtedly a bunch of randos on twitter took them to task for it, and instead of saying "yeah, I'm writing this, you need to stop making assumptions in bad faith" they went "oh shit everyone who reads this book needs to know exactly where I stand and that I would never write a Bad character so they don't use the most bad faith interpretation to come for me!!!"
Like I didn't need a ramble every other paragraph about how Harry from SF is good and kind and supportive and not abusive or an asshole, and oh gawd if he has a steamy thought about Mel it's all over! like, author. you told us they've been dating for like 4 years at this point, I don't need a disclaimer that he's Not a Rapist every time he thinks about her. He doesn't even do anything terribly questionable on-screen except some mildly poor driving due to exhaustion and distraction by magical shit, and yet every action comes with a (*not a bad guy here's a paragraph about it)
Also I feel like this is contributing to the idea that every book an author writes has to be a direct reflection of themselves and their thoughts and feelings on certain issues, and every book needs to be treated as a manifesto of their current beliefs, and I hate that. The more you give into the idea that you need to justify and bargain and plead with your readers to think of you as a normal human and not a monster, via a FICTIONAL STORY THAT YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BE A PART OF, UNLESS YOU'RE MAKING SOME AUTHOR SURROGATE LIKE LEMONY SNICKET, the more you contribute to people not being able to write books with grey morality or villain protagonists or thought exercises instead of clear black-and-white morals without getting hunted for sport.
And like, I get the idea. but THE STORY DOESN'T NEED AN (A/N LISTEN I KNOW I WROTE A BEEFY STRAIGHT RICH FOOTBALL PLAYER BUT HERE'S ME PRETENDING TO BE HIS INNER MONOLOGUE JUSTIFYING WHY HE'S A GOOD GUY AND WOULD NEVER HARM HIS GF, A NORMAL THOUGHT PROCESS EVERYONE HAS ALL THE TIME NOT REFLECTIVE OF MEAN THINGS PEOPLE SAID/MIGHT SAY ABOUT ME ONLINE) EVERY CHAPTER. If it relates to the story or is natural for your characters to say or think, cool, but I don't need your poorly-disguised flustered rants practically titled Twitter Might Cancel Me For This So I'm Trying Harder To Explain Myself. It's HELLA boring.

as anyone who knows me will know, my house is a zoo i am a sucker for small rodents, especially guinea pigs and hamsters. last year for my 17th birthday i shared these deco guinea pigs, so this year today, for my 18th, have the natural progression of that post: a 4t2 conversion of @kaisosims' rodents pack! 20 new, modular, decorative fur-baby items & accessories for your sims to adore 🥰
everything that could have fitted slots has slots; the hamster shelf, notably, has a grand total of 15! all of the cages are stackable, i.e.: you can put the animals (which are purely deco) in them, then stack them on top of any other surface--the given ones, or a counter, study table, etc.! more info can be found under the cut 👇
this set was originally supposed to be my... wow... 1000 followers and 17th birthday gift. but back then my cc skills honestly kinda sucked and the slots + transparency drove me to insanity. over a year, 1500 more followers, and a mental crisis later, here we are, with the final product of over 30 hours of hard work! 👏 in any case, thank you all so much for 2500 followers!

THINGS TO NOTE
Pretty much everything that can have a slot, has a slot!
All cages can be placed on other surfaces, like tables, counters, etc.; if you want to place an animal inside of them, do that first, THEN place them on the surface.
Everything is decorative; nothing is functional… yet.
Art pieces are in the Paintings category, surfaces like the Cage Stand are in Surfaces -> Misc, and everything else is in General -> Pets.
You may note that some items have drastically different polycounts from the TS4 originals; this is because TS4 automates the appearance of backfaces, but TS2 doesn't recognise them, so I had to add my own.

I always love more variety in my game, and I love the conversion of The Sims careers to The Sims 2 by LientebollemeiS2I. I wanted to make them more integrated though, so with the permission of LientebollemeiS2I, here are my amendment's to these careers to include:
Chance cards (for every level)
Different career levels (since some of the levels match other careers)
Connection to University Majors
LifeTime wants! The only things they don't have are specific career rewards and Wants that will roll in the Wants and Fears panel.

There are four files per career (eg. AdultCareer_AnimalCare, AdultCareer_AnimalCare_Conditions, AdultCareer_AnimalCare_LTW and TeenElderCareer_AnimalCare).
All four files are required and can just be put straight into your downloads folder.
You will notice some of the above career levels do not match the original careers. Some of the levels are already represented in other careers in the game, so I decided to swap some around and include some new jobs.
These files have new GUID numbers, so they should not conflict with other downloads, even the original versions of these careers.
The Lifetime Wants are also compatible with @lamare-sims 50 New Lifetime Wants for Sims 2: https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=669675

Accessibility: In the last 10 days I visited the San Francisco Zoo and Safari West.
Surprisingly, unlike the rest of the city, the SF Zoo was relatively flat. I used a wheelchair the whole time with no issue. There's a bit of a slope at the entrance but that's basically it. They even have lower unobstructed viewing areas for people in wheelchairs (or kids I guess). I do think it's fucked up that places are allowed to charge to rent a wheelchair, though.
Safari West you're carted around in a vehicle, so as long as you're able to get into the vehicle it's accessible. There's a small walking portion at the end, including through an aviary. It was on a slight slope but nothing crazy. Personally I didn't have any issues getting around it, and I have a lot of mobility issues.
I have been to both of these places, and agree with your assessments!
Some of Safari West - near the cabins - is a dirt road, but unless you’re staying overnight there most guests won’t encounter that. What I don’t know is if/how the safari carts are for people in wheelchairs (I assume you have to transfer), because I didn’t end up going on the standard vehicles.
San Francisco was pretty easy to traverse. Some of the current construction made navigation a bit messy, and it’s also a big site, but pretty flat with good path maintenance iirc.
Yeah, I wish wheelchair and electric scooter rentals were cheaper or subsidized, but it’s the reality of running a business. They get damaged and need to be repaired and replaced, and paying for them I think encourages people to be more careful. Some of the prices are feel like extortion though, and zoos rarely have enough of either available on a given day. (Shoutout to The Living Desert for having the most ECVs I’ve ever seen at a zoo, and they have shade canopies!).

i found a podcast about animal attacks! the first episode is about the tiger that got loose at the sf zoo - i was actually living in the bay area when that happened & i remember visiting a few months after & seeing all the signs. actually i think i remember visiting before it happened & getting some really beautiful closeup photos of the tigers thru the nest window, i remember they were very interactive. but i wasn't being a dick or teasing them obviously.
i did my zoo internship across the bay at oakland zoo in 2009-2010 which was just a couple years later. tigers were my favorite animal as a kid & i did get to go visit the tiger nighthouse at oakland during a feeding time. we had to stay very far from the bars since feeding is obviously an intense time & you didn't want to give the tigers the impression that you were there to take their food. it was really fucking intense just to be in that space so close to them.
i think that was the same day they sent me standing in the back of a pickup, unprotected & holding trash barrels full of hay, into the huge elk & bison enclosure. the male elk was in rut & thought we were after his does, & came chasing after the truck trying to fucking murder us with his antlers. what a goddamn day.
