27. A taunt, with one eyebrow raised and a grin bubbling at your lips
["The Way You Said I Love You" prompts. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do for this, apologies! Akiraha, in the weeks after 5.3.]
"You're sure you want to do this, Raha?" Akira stepped into a small clearing near Seventh Heaven, across from her beloved, eying his frame nervously as she sought out any signs of lingering weakness. He shot a cocky grin her way, not unlike the young scholar she'd once met in the pursuit of Allagan secrets.
"Not afraid I'm going to win, are you?" he teased, and she felt a small smirk break free.
"You do remember that I regularly kill gods for a living, yes?"
"If you think I spent a hundred years resting on my laurels, you're sadly mistaken."
"Maybe on the First, but this body's been taking a nap while I ended wars." G'raha scoffed at her words as she twirled her overlarge sword in her hands, summoning his glowing sword and shield to his hands in response.
"Give me your all," he challenged, eyes bright.
"Just wanted to make sure you really wanted this," her smirk broadened to an outright sneer. "Do remember that I love you when I knock you on your ass in front of all these people." Indeed, a small crowd had gathered around them as they verbally sparred, mutters going around that she was sure were bets. Oh, everyone in Mor Dohna knew she was more than a match for G'raha, but perhaps they thought her fondness would lead her to go easy on him.
A silly thought. After all, she didn't have to hurt him to win the spar.
They clashed, metal clanging loudly as the small crowd of spectators cheered for whichever side they'd put coin on, both Akira and G'raha dodging each others' blows deftly, blasts of magic occasionally bouncing off shields. Watching for her moment, Akira coiled and struck when she saw her opening. With one hand she put the whole weight of her not insignificant sword against his shield, knocking it from his arm. Hands now free, she turned and grabbed his sword arm, twisting it behind his back and relieving him of his own sword.
"I win," she grinned at him, though he could just barely see it over his shoulder, and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek as his ears flattened in what would be embarrassment if she couldn't see how his eyes glowed when he looked at her.
They made their hasty exit amid bettors exchanging coin before they could be missed.

19. While someone’s sick + Akisako
“You can try, but I’m telling you, it’s futile,” Hisako told the diner chef waiting in the parlor to bring a heavenly smelling garlic soup up to Erina’s room. “Whenever Erina-sama gets sick it interferes with her god tongue. She won’t take anything but plain rice and clear broths.”
Yukihira smirked at her. “She told me before, but I think I’ve figured out the trick to it this time.”
The medicinal cuisine expert shot him an incredulous look, but felt way too tired to argue with him, and said nothing as he went upstairs with the soup, a deck of playing cards, and a stack of manga in tow. At the very least, Erina-sama—who became quite demanding whenever she felt out of sorts—would be entertained for a little while.
She took a seat on one of the parlor chairs and got to work on rearranging the Elite Ten event schedule.
“Yukihira’s definitely earning his boyfriend credentials,” said Alice, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. She giggled a bit at the thought.
“I guess you could say that.” Hisako sighed and closed her eyes for a moment, rubbing her temples. Between looking after Erina and managing all the extra paperwork she’d taken on as Elite Ten members dropped like flies to whatever flu was going around, she’d barely slept all week.
“He’s still nowhere near Ryo-kun’s level, though,” the fifth seat said wearing a besotted smile.
“I daresay you’re a bit biased,” Hisako replied dryly before willing herself to stand up. She sniffled lightly, waiting for her sinuses to adjust to the change in altitude. “I’d better go now.”
“Where? To bed?” the Nakiri heiress asked, giving her a once over. “You’re looking pretty rundown, Hishoko.”
The seventh seat rolled her eyes. “Forgive me.” She stifled a sneeze in the crook of her elbow, only serving to make her headache worse. “Next time I’ll be sure to prioritize my beauty sleep over the reports.”
“You totally should. It’s way more fun that way.”
Far too fatigued to argue the logic of responsibility to a person like Nakiri Alice, Hisako merely took her leave and started towards the Elite Ten offices. And because the universe was a cruel master indeed, halfway through her commute it started pouring.
Usually Arato Hisako was the person one counted on knowing the weather forecast, but she’d been feeling scattered for days now and arrived at Totsuki’s parliament soaked.
“Is that you, Arato?” Hayama called from his office when she came in, and she smiled in spite of herself. For the past week or so, she’d only seen him in passing, getting signatures on forms and printing documents in the copy room.
“Yeah, it’s me.” She stood in his doorway, wet blazer folded over one arm.
“You didn’t look at the weather?” He sounded surprised, and if Hisako didn’t know any better, she’d say there was a hint of concern in his emerald eyes.
“There’s been a lot going on, okay, so don’t…” The seventh seat cut herself off with a series of harsh sneezes that bent her forward. Hisako brought a hand to her head, massaging the pressure point just between her brows.
The third seat wrapped his blazer around her shoulders, and the sudden warmth quelled the shivers she’d been only vaguely aware of. “I knew you were going to catch this,” he said. “You’ve been letting Nakiri and the rest run you ragged all week long.”
Hisako glared up at him. “I am not having this argument with you today. Besides, I didn’t catch anything,” she replied petulantly. “I don’t get sick.”
He shot her a half amused glance and then brought his forehead down to hers. “Hardheaded,” he told her, smirking. “And warm.”
Hisako felt her cheeks flush with a heat that had nothing to do with the fever she definitely didn’t have. “It’s just from the walk over here,” she said lamely before turning away to sneeze again. She sniffled miserably after the fit ended. “I’m fine.”
Less than hour later, Hayama Akira had her laying with her had in his lap on the office couch, wrapped in a blanket he’d found somewhere and filled with a spicy chickpea soup he’d made on the fly. It was heaven.
“I should go back and check on Erina-sama soon,” she said when she felt her eyes getting heavy. “And I still need to finish the report.”
“Yukihira’s got her,” the spice expert said, rubbing her back lightly. “And don’t worry about the report. Tadokoro Megumi agreed to finish it.”
She gave a slight smile at this. Tadokoro-san was the definition of reliable. “Thank you, Akira,” she said before letting herself drift off.
It seemed that Yukihira Souma wasn’t the only one earning his boyfriend credentials.

Drama CD: [SEVENTH HEAVEN] Vol.5 -Shion-
[Synopsis] The Seventh Heaven are the 7 Gods of Death who can deliver people into a blissful death by serenading them with their songs. They only appear to those who truly wish to die. Once they have been seen, you have to stay with them in their Hiiragi Mansion until the final moment of death arrives.

You meet Shion (CV. Suzuki Tatsuhisa) when you are trying to slit your wrist, and he mocks you for not making a bolder statement, and asks you to come with him if you don’t want to suffer eternal pain.
In the house, he briefly explains his position and tries to get you to entertain him. When you fail to deliver, he sneaks up on you from behind. You struggle and (accidentally) elbow him. He complains that he’s badly hurt (’dying’, in fact XD) and asks for a kiss to heal him. You are strangely obedient. You even agree to give him another kiss, which makes him suddenly lose interest and he goes off to take a nap.
Kanade’s messenger raven wakes him up in the middle of a good dream, and he discovers a wandering spirit. He whistles and sends it off to the Other World to free it from its misery. ♪～(￣ε￣；)
Later he finds you and drags you round to... invade the privacy of the other Gods of Death. In Akira’s room, he finds an instructional book about humans (Akira even put a fake cover to keep him from finding it.) He draws obscene doodles in the book and asks you to write a note confessing that you did it. In response, you shiver in fright (lulz), and he writes it himself.
Next is Hinata’s room, which is locked. He breaks in anyway and ransacks it. He eventually finds a locked box, which contains Hinata’s diary entries. Apparently one time, Itsuki ate something he cooked and went MIA the next day... I wonder why... XD
Shion is angry that Hinata didn’t write anything about him. The two of you move on to Yuuri’s room, which contains some creepy life-like dolls that he has made, and is apparently filled with a bunch of booby traps. Just then he hears Yuuri coming in, and you two hide in the closet. While in hiding, he notices that your soul smells delicious and asks for permission to lick you, because that’s what closets are for. ~_~
Afterwards, you tell him that you saw him saving the wandering spirit with his whistling. He is embarrassed and enraged, and goes off to play billiards. You interrupt his game to ask him why he saved the spirit, and he gets more embarrassed and enraged not wanting to admit that he did it out of the goodness of his heart. Then he suggests going to the beach for a change of mood.
At the beach, he is wayyy too protective of his sandcastle, which ofc gets destroyed by a tidal wave to his cries of despair. You laugh at his childishness, and he responds by splashing you with water. The two of you have a fun splash-fight. But when it’s time to go back to the mansion, you are reluctant, because it’s your last day on earth. Tomorrow will be the night of the full moon and your death.
He asks you why you wanted to take your own life when you seem so... well-adjusted. You thank him, and tell him that you’ve just been over-exerting yourself on all fronts, and don’t know which is the hardest thing that pushed you over the edge anymore #toorelatable. In response, he calls you a バカ, which I’ll admit warmed my heart more than a little :’)
Death Night. He asks if you want to get it over with swiftly. You say yes, but he wants to see your soul. You have a beautiful soul, you 大馬鹿, and he starts kissing you and making you ‘show the unknown parts of yourself’ to him. Just as things are starting to go in the R-18 direction, the clock strikes.
You start to cry, and he comforts you by saying that he will immediately forget you... while holding back tears. In the final moments, he tells you to keep your chin up.

[Thoughts] I wasn’t expecting it, but this turned out to be my favourite volume/character of the series. With Suzuki Tatsuhisa as the voice I was expecting the gangster/violent-type personality, but he is also quite straightforward and sweet. And the thing that really touched me is how he put his own feelings aside and comforted the heroine in her final moments, so that she could die without any lingering worries. He’s clearly a pretty twisted individual, but at the same time his love for her is so selfless and wholesome. #damnthesefeels.
