How I’m Looking After Myself (simple self care and beauty)
Hair
- High frequency on my roots on wash days (2x week), followed by onion serum meant for hair
- Homemade hair mask of egg + mayo for 15 mins before shampooing (dry hair) and applying Shikakai powder + water mixture to my roots
- Apparently air drying is bad for your hair, so I’m trying to use very little heat from the blow dryer instead
Face
- 1 clay mask/ the ordinary’s red serum mask (AHA+BHA) a week
- Morning routine: face wash, toner, vitamin C, eye cream, sunscreen and moisturiser
- Night routine: face wash, toner, hylaronic acid, eye cream, moisturiser
- Lymphatic drainage massage on mask days
- Occasionally using high frequency
- Waxing upper lip/ chin/ eyebrows myself once a week/ 15 days
- Black head removal twice a month (i steam my face while doing this)
- Minimal make up, even on work days to prevent clogged pores
Body
- a gentle body wash of mint and some other herbs
- A combo of body oil and moisturiser after shower
- Red nails and toes, always
- Waxing instead of shaving - especially down there to reduce growth, waxing lasts so much longer than shaving; I wax once in like 1.5 months
- Oil massages at my local masseuse once a month

Brand: Olive Tree People
Product: Hyaluronic Acid Intuitive Oleuropein Serum
This brand boasts waterless skincare, instead using olive fruit and other super ingredients as the base instead.
Pros:
Very nourishing.
Promotes a dewy appearance.
Absorbs easily.
Very affordable (only 10 bucks)
Cons:
Applying too much may cause irritation. I hypothesize that it's due to the lack of buffering ingredients. Their formulas seem to be simple and straightforward. Patting in a few drops is best.
Consistency might not feel nice to everyone. This serum doesn't feel watery, more of a semi-dry oily liquid. Your feelings may vary.
As with most hyaluronic acid serums, apply to damp skin for maximum effectiveness.
Follow up with a moisturizer.
I like it, just has a slight learning curve is all. I'd prefer no irritation as it does make skin dewy and glowy when it absorbs, but we all react differently.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SERUMS AND BOOSTERS…
A serum like our Hydrating Serum is able to hydrate more effectively than even the heaviest creams. The molecules are able to truly penetrate the skin and hydrate on the deepest level, while the heavier creams more so sit on those top layers.
This does not mean that one replaces the other, while a serum like our Hydrating serum works to draw moisture into the skin, a moisturiser helps to lock in that moisture so that it does not evaporate.
Our boosters and serums are made to be versatile! They can be layered in any fashion once or twice per day, or used on alternate days, or you can apply one or more in the morning and different ones at night. There really is no single right way; everything is adaptable as you develop the method and frequency of application that you discover works best.
Come for an evaluating facial to see what your skin type and skin condition is @ only R250 (R250 will fall away when you purchase your recommended home care products)
We are committed to our clients wellbeing - the condition of your skin and your budget. Giving you an affordable skincare line that get positive results is one way we can do that.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about our products or treatments. We look forward to helping you achieve healthy, glowing skin.

7 Serious Mistakes You Are Making in Your Skincare Routine
This is the era of pollution, where the harsh conditions of the environment, such as smoke, UV rays, and harsh winds make our skin dull and dry. You can improve and restore your skin by having a skincare routine. Following are seven serious mistakes which you are making in your skincare routine and you need to avoid them.
Tumblr media
Not Applying Moisturizer to Oily Skin
People think that oily skin does not need moisturizer, and if you use it, then it will lock more oil in your skin. However, the reality is different because moisturizers provide you with hydration. Every type of skin needs hydration. The moisturizer balances oil regulation and hydration for the skin. The use of it leads to less oil production in the skin if you apply it regularly.
Using Products Right Before Sleeping
When you put cream on or apply any products to your face right before you lie down, it might get on your pillow. That could make your pillow dirty, and the products might not work as well. Because it does not stay on your face. The product will not enter the skin layers, so it will not give you the desired results or benefits. Do complete your skincare routine an hour ago before going to sleep.
Trying Out a New Product at Night
Another common mistake that people make is try new products at night time. Especially the products that contain active ingredients such as Retinoids and Niacinamides. Always use these products during the day to observe and notice their possible reactions and results. If you use them at night, you will not have the opportunity to monitor the response of the products. It can cause allergic reactions, so it's better to avoid it.
Using a Shared Towel
Here, you should know two things about this mistake. The first one is that you should not share the towel with others. Always use your own towel; it will save you from pimples, acne, and other skin problems. The second thing to remember is that there should be a separate towel for the face and body. It can help you avoid transferring microbes. Wash your towel regularly, preferably in hot water.
Thinking that Breaking Out is Bad
Breaking out means showing up with new acne and pimples due to the use of the product that you have added to your skincare routine. Many people think that breaking out is bad as it leads to a purging effect. But it is good because once your skin brings out all the impurities under the skin. They will expel after a few days. After expulsion, it will make your skin clearer and healthier. Use the product instead of leaving it. Do not worry if you get breaks out.
Not Adapting Skincare Routines
People are not changing their skincare routines according to the weather. Instead, they are using the same routine throughout the year. Our skin demands different skincare products in different weather conditions. So, it is necessary to change the products accordingly. For example, in dry or cold weather, your skin demands more hydration in order to prevent dryness. Similarly, in hot weather, your skin demands things or products according the humidity level. For example, you should avoid heavy creams or moisturizers. Use light-weight and gel-based products to prevent sweat.
Not Changing Pillowcase
Not changing the pillowcase is a very common mistake that many people make, and they do not know its harmful effects. If you do not change your pillowcase regularly, it can cause skin infections and acne. The surface of the pillowcase is full of germs, sweat, and dust. It is a harbor for bacteria if it does not change. Wash the pillowcase in hot water and disinfect it to remove sweat and bacteria. Change the pillowcase at least 3 to 4 times a week.
In conclusion, we can say that these are the mistakes that we should avoid while caring for our skin. These mistakes will not give us any benefits and can cause damage. So just avoid them if you want happy and glowing skin. Be kind and consistent in using the products, and see the results.
