Stand on the side of understanding. Just as firmly as others pick one side, chose to remain here viewing both sides. Finding understanding and openness of many views. Self-righteousness plants the seeds of bitterness, hostility and sadness. Where understanding cultivates sweetness, kindness, and growth. Instead of being on a side of the fence, be on the fence. There are many views, does one view have to be the right and only view?

Listening to you little pishers one would think that no one had ever tried peace in the Middle East before, like it’s something you just thought of, as though Israelis haven’t been working hard at this for decades. No, it’s much easier to believe that they’re warlike monsters who like nothing more than a bit of genocide in the morning.
I’m not saying that Israel is perfect – far from it – or that the IDF doesn’t have its share of bad apples. I simply challenge you to find one army that doesn’t, or one country that is. I ask you to look at some of the other nations in the region and tell me yeah, that’s a place I’d like to live. But no, Israel is held to much higher standard than the rest of the world, and even if they become better than all the rest, it still won’t be enough. It will never be enough so long as they still exist.
Speaking of double standards, it’s funny how you get all over people who say they aren’t racist despite the racialized community telling them otherwise. You always said that groups are entitled to define the boundaries of their own identity and decide for themselves what is and isn’t considered hatred towards them. Every group except… you guessed it (are you really going to make me say it?) Even more, if any one of us dare challenge a single line of your orthodoxy, you take it as an invitation to threaten and intimidate us in the worst ways you can think of.
My dear left wingers, we’ve stood side by side for so long. We got through the Trump presidency and all manners of horrors. Why do you abandon us now? Because we won’t stand for your dehumanization of Israelis or stand idly by while your thoughtless words and mindless chants stoke the flames of antisemitism here at home? It’s seems to me that you really don’t care, and maybe you think we deserve it for having the tenacity to say “maybe that solider was trying to help that child, not murder them”.
These are scary times for all Jews everywhere. If you can’t even feign to care, or if you react with hostility for being called out for not being kind, don’t you dare call yourselves allies. I don’t want to hear any of you ever say how if you were alive during WWII that you would have given shelter to the Jews, because you couldn’t be further from the truth. We are right here, hiding in plain sight, pleading with you to bring it down a few notches, but you refuse to see. Our existence threatens your sense of self-righteousness and outrage.
I refuse to beg for your understanding anymore. If you want to block me, please do me that favour. Honestly, Tumblr has been a much nicer and saner place since you all dropped off my timeline. I’ve learned more about antisemitism in the past seven weeks than in all my life prior. It’s been eye-opening, to say the least, so I might as well thank you for helping me understand what it truly means to be Jewish… but on second thought, no. You can all go f*** yourselves.

Jesus Christ had nothing to say to the self-righteous. He left them to rot in their own conceit, He boycotted them, He would not deign to speak to them; for they did not realise their need of Him, and until need is realised prayer is impossible.

Never confuse righteousness with self-righteousness. They sound similar, but they are opposites. The righteous see the good in people; the self-righteous see the bad. The righteous make you feel bigger; the self-righteous make you feel small. The righteous praise; the self-righteous criticise. The righteous are generous; the self-righteous, grudging and judgmental. Once you know the difference, keep far from the self-righteous, who come in all forms, right and left, religious and secular. Win the respect of people you respect and ignore the rest.

We keep delaying adulthood in our culture. People are doing adult activities later and later in life, taking on less and less responsibility, serving less, helping other people less. Why? Because our whole life has begun to revolve around getting our life together. You getting your life together, me getting my life together. It shrinks your life down to being all about you. This message is too small for our souls. And while it begins in a really beautiful place, and it sounds like really good news, like “Oh I can be the shepherd of my own life,” can we really do it? The secular gospel leaves me feeling like an aimless sheep, trying to shepherd my own life and failing miserably. I see this mentality turn more people into cynical, fatalistic types of people where they just believe there’s no better reality out there, there’s nothing but meandering around like lost sheep on this earth until we die.

2 Thessalonians 2:4-6 NRSVA
"He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God. Do you not remember that I told you these things when I was still with you? And you know what is now restraining him, so that he may be revealed when the time comes."
Study questions:
(1) The author is describing "the one destined for destruction" from the previous verse. Who is this description about?
(2) If the author had already told their listeners that this would happen, why did their listeners forget?
(3) This mentions the enemy seated in the temple of God; is this a literal or symbolic temple? How can you tell?
(4) What do you think is restraining the lawless one? How would the original audience already know what it was?

Verily, pretending is the worst crime of all, indeed.
Indubitably, confidence men are a menace to civilized society and the moral fabric of our cultural values, henceforth.
Ersatz social workers are the scum of the Earth. Phony lawyers and doctors are demon savages participating in an hysterical masquerade. They are spiders waiting in a web for their victims.

Command Fire
“…When His disciples James and John observed this, they said, Lord, do You wish us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did? But He turned and rebuked and severely censured them. He said, You do not know of what sort of spirit you are,” Luke 9:54-55AMPC
James and John, in our text, were indignant because the Samaritan village snubbed Jesus. I don’t know of any other time in my lifetime, when it’s been easier to become indignant and offended. In fact, at times I’ve had many ‘calling down lightning’ desires towards various DOJ, Senators, Congressional members and the people currently running the White House.
Nothing rankles me worse than those involved in pedophilia, and child sex trafficking. I too was molested. The molestation hasn’t given me the desire to fantasize and sin against children. What it has done is give me a huge stretching of the love of God in me for offenders.
John 3:16KJV “For God so loved the world…” What is the world made up of? Some Believers in Christ, yes. Decent self-righteous people? Even more blatant sinners? Many desperately wicked people? God loves them all. Gave His Son’s life for each and every individual, no matter their bent towards sin or Him.
Jesus didn’t give us an option to hate and pray evil towards wicked. “…I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” Matthew 5:44NIV. Praying for the death of enemies and persecutors would be very easy to do— “command fire.” Instead Jesus taught we’re to love and pray for them in order, V45 “that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
I always thought that King David “commanded fire” on his enemies. Psalm 3:7NLT “Arise, O LORD! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked!” This isn’t exactly calling for a lightning strike on the enemies, but a huge wake-up call and loss of power to his enemies.
There’s a great difference in calling for an enemy’s death and a huge wake-up leading possibly to salvation. We’re to be known as lovers of other Believers, John 13:35, and loving those in need of salvation. Praying for those lost in sin and darkness to be saved is the opposite of “commanding fire.” This is much more pleasing to our Lord mainly because those prayers are a remembering of the fact— except for grace I’d be going the same direction.
Pray for the wake-up calls and salvations of those enemies, and persecutors. Allow God to be the One Who decides their fate, as we remain out of sin in this matter. We may the reason one evil person arrives in heaven. Meanwhile we won’t be like them wishing malice on another. It’s your choice. You choose.
LET’S PRAY: Sovereign God please keep us from the sins of hatred, malice, and desiring wickedness on the wicked. Help us please to be more like You, in the name of Yeshua Hamashiach I pray.

The Surprising Value of the Concept of Sin
The idea of sin makes people feel uncomfortable, and people blame sin for making them feel bad about themselves.
Many people bristle at the Christian idea of sin, and many people fault Christianity for its emphasis on sin. Richard Dawkins criticized Christianity in his book, The God Delusion, that it’s all about sin, sin, sin. His sentiment seems to be a popular one. As a long-time Christian, I have a “robust” view of sin not just because I have robust respect for the Bible. I see sin in myself, and I see…

Are You Fighting Against Yourself?
Judging Pharisees and Lawyers
Luke 7:30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him (John the Baptist). We can even learn lessons from the religious leaders who sought to thwart Jesus, if we pay attention. Self-awareness plays a key role in these lessons. One might ask his or her self, Are any of these traits found in them, existing in me? It is easier to see faults in others than it is to look at our own. Perhaps, instead of being quick with a pointy finger, we might quickly do a self-examination with Holy Spirit’s help. It’s easy to be judgmental of others while overlooking our own hypocrisy in so doing. Romans 2:1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. Other people’s attitudes and actions often serve a mirror, which reflect back shortcomings we despise in ourselves. Obviously, this is one reason we can be quick to point the finger. Those who are the most critical of others, generally have a lot of criticism reserved for themselves. The irony is it’s easy to be critical of critical people. Maybe, we can tap into compassion instead, because they are dealing with some inner conflicts of various shapes and sizes.
A Lesson From Pharisees and Lawyers
Notice our opening passage says, “they rejected the counsel of God against themselves.” It is clear these particular religious leaders did not recognize or acknowledge John as a prophet. They rejected the message of repentance, which was underscored by the fact they were not baptized by him. His baptism was the baptism of repentance. Self-righteous people seldom see the need for it, because in their view they are righteous. Unfortunately for them, it is not the righteousness received by faith in Jesus. By rejecting God’s counsel, which came through John, they fought against themselves. Moreover, they rejected God’s will for themselves. This passage can also be rendered as, “But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected God’s purpose for themselves, not having been baptized by John.” The bottom line is when a person rejects the Word of God, he rejects His counsel, will and purposes for his life. In so doing, he is not actually fighting against God; he fighting against himself. Think about it: who is going to win a fight against God? That is spiritual suicide.
