Not be to the literal last person on earth to post about the ghost-maker catman dc pride appearance, but I’ve just read it and I have thoughts.

So catman, Thomas Blake. A character my old old man of a father was familiar with, but I had never seen before in my life. This is probably because he’s made no significant appearances since like 2014(as far as I could tell). His list of accomplishments on Wikipedia is depressingly short(but does include being raked 9th on this list of comic sexymen) and his bisexuality was established...kinda(to be fair it was 2014 and I think the writer did her best) (this was in Secret Six vol 4 #1 btw)

Also he looked good back in 2014 wowza

So why him and ghost-maker? From a character perspective, Catman seems to have been in the game of pissing off batman(something I’m sure ghost-maker appreciates), and hes also got a level of skill and moral compass that are compatible with ghost-maker’s. From a writer’s perspective,,,ghost-maker wants to be Better Than Batman, anything batman has he has too. Batman has a vaguely villainous cat themed lover, so ghost-maker needs one also.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this short story, best of luck to these bisexual nerds. (We also get the first ever Khoa narration!!!)

Sidenote: can we apreciate this exchange

Okay, so I just went and looked this guy up and his name is Peter Merkel, Jr. and her backstory is so wack but I'm lowkey obsessed with this murderous store-brand Robin and I want you all to know that

Bane saving kids is so sweet. Also I like how this could be read as Bane saying, "The Batman saved your child because his influence caused me to make the decision to save her" but also "I am the Batman and I saved your child."

Ohohoho, this is getting good!

Catman: You want to be Batman so bad.

Bane: No, you want to be Batman so bad.

Ragdoll: I want to be Robin. I want it so bad.

And the reference to Jason Todd's death is just mwah *chef's kiss* beautiful

I mean, not giving yourself permission to bleed out is a very Batman-like trait. The spine thing, not so much.

I cackled through this whole issue. I'm not even joking it was so amusing and I don't even know any of these characters. Fucking spectacular.

Oh, and getting back to the actual Battle for the Cowl-ness thing, the writing is on the wall for Nightwing

Earth-8: Red Planets The Universe is Burning. A flaming crusade has spread across the stars turning whole worlds to cinders. Nothing remains in its wake.
