Another Magic Mixies Pixling Review!!
This time of Marena and how she compare to similar themed dolls.
So many fins and shades of blues!
Here is a close up of Marena herself. She’s really cute (I have been loving the Pixling dolls). She’s similar to the other dolls in the line, with a ball joint in the head, shoulders, hips and elbow joints, a (very nice) fabric skirt, and a molded on top.
She’s supposed to be a mermaid Pixling, but she gives me more of a water nymph vibe…..yup, that’s just going to be my head canon.
A close up of her face up. Her screening is lightly pixelated, but it’s not distracting like what Mattel uses on their Fashionistas. I love the little scale pattern around her eyes and wish that’s what would have been printed on G3 Lagoona’s forehead. Her ears look to be added on as separate pieces and have a tiny bit of glitter in them.
While her shirt is molded on, it is a very cute mold and “ties” around the back. The extra molded detail, paint, and unique design adds to her cuteness (they could have just had the same top design for all the dolls, but instead they have made separate molds for all the characters….so far).
Her skirt is silky (but not the paper-like silk that Disney/Jakks Pacific/Mattel uses), hemmed, with a tule around the bottom (along with the cut, it is is reminiscent of a mermaid tail).
Even the shoes have cute little pear, heart and scale patterns (matching her skirt).

Marena was swarmed by some adorable, big haired aquatic monsters. Marena meet the Mermalades!
I always like to compare the Pixlings with Moose’s Zelfs. Their ancestor of sorts.
Marena likes the look of these sea buddies.
Mermalade is a darker blue, and the newer Mermalades actually has more fins than Marena does (I wish she did have some webbing in between her fingers and maybe some fins off of her forearms). Interesting to note, that the fins are more curved than the pointy fins Marena has.
She actually has a much closer color pallet to Sealia or Oceana. But I do not own these little guys…yet.

You can also see how basic the molded (granted I acetoned some of it away) and fabric pieces are compared to Marena. I mean it’s not really a fair comparison because I think of Marena as more of an aquatic mammal, fish, or amphibian and Taylee is more of a:
Here are Dolce Dolphin and Sedda Seahorse.
Yeaaaaah, the skirts might look a bit more inspired, but none of them have fins sculpted to their legs or arms, and their shirts are still kinda boring.
Also wanted to compare her to this unreleased mermaid Novi Star, just because her decorations around her eyes and her large ear fins reminded me of them….and actually the large head, small torso and hands are kinda reminiscent or Marena too, huh….
Okay, Taylee wandered off when I was looking at the other Enchantimals and Nobvi Star concept, soooo, let’s compare Marena with Ebbie Blue, the youngest of G2’s Blue family.
“She’s like a mini me!”
She is both less and more detailed than you Marena (I LOVE the scales on the arms and under her pigtails, her little fins on her arms, and how the scales merge into her tail, but she can’t tip her head up and can move her arms out).
Also, she’s got widdle, round fingers that look like they have not finished growing.
Let’s compare you to someone a bit older: Kelpie Blue from G2!

Well….that’s a little better. Kelpie has really cute and unique scales, fins, and shortened webbing in between her fingers, but her articulation is REALLY poor (she can’t move her head up/down, or move her arms/legs out).
Her ears were also added on later, like Marena’s.

After chasing the speedy G2 around, she finally got to look at her tiny little ear fins while playing with her hair, and Freshwater Lagoona and Saltwater Lagoona both couldn’t get over how cute she was.

She’s actually closest (design wise) to both G1 Lagoona’s. A lack of scales, she’s in-between both their colors of blue and she has the added pink accents too.
Side tangent about Lagoona:
Thought I should add a quick summery of my thoughts on my different generation Lagoonas.
G1 Lagoona:
pros: All the different material used in her clothing, her face-up, her personality, her addition of a diary, her fully webbed hands (with different colored webbing and see through fins).
cons: she has an ill-fitting swimsuit, her fins keep falling off, her thin joints make her pretty delicate, glue head (this one is treated with La’s Totally Awesome cleaner, but I still need to treat Freshwater Lagoona, and de-yellow her head), and the elastic hip joints make her floppy. Her character being ALL about Gil in the series (I really don’t hate his character and I LOVE his G1 design, I just wish there were more to her stories than just him).
G2 Lagoona (I’m still looking for the OG G2 Lagoona, so have the Beast Pet one here):
pros: Her softened face is kinda cute, her sculpted scales around her arm and leg fins, her stronger joints, her fins stay in SO MUCH BETTER.
cons: I remember her being a lot more hyper and speedy than G1 and it’s an odd choice to me, her eyes were changed from green to blue, her webbing decreased in size and is no longer another color (and many of her dolls didn’t have this much articulation).
G3 Lagoona (I originally gave her braids to make her have kinky hair, but the braids are kinda growing on me).
pros: torso joint on most of her dolls, see through legs, her fins stay on pretty well, larger ear fins, a really fun personality on the show, her joints are stronger/her doll feels sturdier, I like many of her shoes and themes (jellyfish/tentacles/pearls).
cons: I didn’t like her first couple of releases, her pink (while it reminds me of an axolotl) is a bit too sunburnt looking for me…? Maybe a paler or darker pink. I would have liked it if they would have painted her ears/and had a blue to pink fade on her arms as well…also her dots on her forehead should have either been sculpted scales or drawn scales like Marena. Biggest disappointment: should have hand webbing, a diary, and accessories that have to do with her love of telenovelas!!! I’m still getting used to her being really different than G1 Lagoona and would have really liked it had she been her cousin from the Amazon (because I want to see them interact with each other SO BAD).

Unbeknownst to you, you weren’t the only one checking the reef. When Mingi noticed the diver, he quickly hid behind a large formation. He silently observed as you swam along your way, curious what your intentions were.
Once he realised you didn’t have any ill intentions, Mingi even dared to swim closer. He still stayed hidden - at least for now. It intrigued him to see you interact with the life around you.
When you dove down to pick up a few empty shells, you noticed a large shadow above you. You moved your hands to kneel down on the sandy ocean floor, while your head turned around.
You nearly dropped the mouthpiece as you gasped upon the view above your head. The long orange scaled tail immediately caught your focus and you forgot all about any safety regards.
Mingi turned around and swam right back towards you. He noticed how his tail appeared to be double the length from your bottom half. He looked at you curiously, unsure whether he should say something.
Your eyes wandered over his features, the vibrant hair, the defined upper body, his black claw-like nails and definitely his beautiful tail. You looked back up to his wide almost puppy-like eyes.
Technically you had to add him now to your research and report but you knew if you’d actually do that, the reef would suffer even more. If anyone else would know about him, they would either hunt him down or make an attraction out of him. So you decided in that exact moment that you would take the knowledge of his existence to your grave.
Mingi looked down at your hands, seeing the few shells in them. His mouth turned into an o shape and he pushed himself through the water with his strong tail.
You watched him in confusion as he swam down to the ocean floor and picked some things up before he returned to you. One of his large hands grabbed yours and placed more shells into them.
Mingi grinned excitedly and pointed at the shells. “They are beautiful!”
You nodded and tried smiling as much as possible with all the diving gear you were wearing. You motioned for him to hold the shells momentarily and got the little bag you had on you for samples. Today you’d forget about the samples though, using the space for the small gifts he got for you.
The excitement that radiated off of Mingi when you let him place the shells inside of your bag, reminded you of youthful innocence. Especially when he swam off again and grabbed even more.
You’d let him be for today since you weren’t really able to tell him anything but you secretly hoped you could meet him some day where you’d be able to communicate. Though only following him through the reef and seeing him that excited was already enough and close to a miracle in your eyes.

Meet my new au Finding Our Paths. A Kraang Zombie Apocalypse au heavily inspired by 2012 and Rise. I finished designs for the turtles, April, Casey, and Casey's little sis kast night so i figured I'd share!

And separated so you can see parts that are covered.
For some info:
Donnie is a Wood Turtle. She goes by They/She and is 17. They are the oldest sibling and are traveling with her Uncle, Oroku Saki, their cousin, Oroku Karai, amd Karai's girlfriend Shinigami.
Leona is a Common Snapping Turtle. She goes by She/Her and is 16. She is traveling woth her Aunt, Hamato Mio, and her new best friend(and crush) Miwa!
Mikey is a Chinese Softshell. He goes by any pronouns and is 15. She is staying at a camp run by Baron Draxum and is dating their campmates Mondo and Renet.
Rafi is a Leatherback Sea Turtle. They go by They/Them and is 15. They are traveling with their new friends April O'Neil, Casey Jones, and Casey's little sister, Delilah.
April O'Neil is part Kraang. She goes by She/They and is 15. As stated above she travels with Casey, Delilah, and now Rafi. Due to being part Kraang they have powers but is often too scared to use them because people have tried to kill her. They stick to their metal and nail filled bats.
Casey Jones is a human. He goes by He/They/She and is 16. They use their old hocmet supplies and spray paint bombs as defense. She has taken care of his little sister since the Apocalypse started.
Delilah Jones is a human. She uses She/her and is 5. She has to wear leg braces do to a condition that makes her leg muscles weak but since they are old she still cannot walk.
I may decide to create an ask blog for them. Who knows.

Levi hcs!!
I'll be using 🐚 for casual form, 🪼 for demon form, and 🪸 for apperance!
🪸 I gave levithian fins for ears because I wanted him to have more sea monster-esque look, also some soft looking frilly gills for his neck, also has siren like webbed fingers + they're transparent! The fins, gills, and syndactyly in-between his fingers change color due to weather/emotions! He now has messier hair (because I did NOT like his haircut b4.) and now has a racoon stripe in his hair! .•°☆°•. My chance-leviathan 1:00 ─〇───── 3:16 .•°☆°•.
🐚 I wanted him to have some scene clothing! Like a gir hoodie, kandi cuffs/anything kandi, ect! Also more baggy clothing bc I feel like he's slightly self conscious of his slightly chubby + lanky form, and has sea animal keychains (like jellyfish, fish, turtles, ect.) he likes the jellyfish ones the most bc according to him "they're so silly, they look like little furin!" (Furin are wind chimes found in Japanese/Asian cultures!)

🪼 I wanted to give him a thicker tail and there's some scales on his back that lead to it! And to give him more of a sea monster-esque look I gave him sharper teeth and fins and sharp looking eyes and his nails are sharper, almost like claws! Also has heat seeking☆

My Billy Hargrove Art - 2/28/24
Starting off I wanted to just figure how how i would draw Billy. Like with Cal I'm not super use to drawing fanart of live action characters. If you didn't read this Billy post I made I HC Billy nonbinary using He/Him but Fem leaning and uses Female titles with people he trust.
This is canon divergent so Billy survived the mind flyer (and now lives with Joyce) but I since it is post season 3 - he tends to wear alot more clothes now - its rare for most people to see him without his arms, and chest full covered due to the sever scaring he has from his time being possessed.
Billy will wear make-up; it started out before moving in with the Byers to hide bruises. But now he always wears beach colors nail polishes liking the way it looks, but he will wear blush and lip gloss (not lip stick cause he doesn't like the way it feels) in softer colors when he's feeling on the more fancy or mature fem side. His eyeshadow is always in some shade of blue if he puts eyeshadow on.
He’s a premaregressor and a Trauma & Vent Regressor of Baby to 5 year old with most his drops are involuntary. His biggest special interest regressed or not is everything relating to the Ocean or Sea.
As you can see in this picture first Billy doesn't have his dangle earring like he normally does - thats because whenever he drops who ever is around will either switch the dangle earring with the matching non dangle earring, or get someone Billy will trust to switch them. Joyce is really accepting of Billy's age regression but doesn't like the idea of anyone mentally or physically under the age of 10 wearing dangling earrings due to the risk of injury. So its a house rule.
Fun fact all of the stuffed animal Billy have here i own IRL. Since he has a hard time with being gifted things he's slowly collected these since moving in with Joyce from various people.

Ariel, the jellyfish plushy by his hand, was the only one he had before moving in with the Byers from his mother. She is modified to have a rattle box in her body and years ago when she lost an eye Billy stole a stuffed animal eye from a craft store to replace it.
The sea bunny thats on his leg. Joyce gave it to him when he was in the government hospital - The sea bunny's name is Sea-yah.
The sea turtle was also given to him pretty early one by El - her name is Apple. Why? Cause shes green like a apple.
Aegir is a black tip reef shark that Billy got when the whole Byers-Hopper family (including him) went to the aquarium. Jim surprised him with Aegir because he refused to pick out anything from the gift shop not wanting to be a burden. (El told Jim which one Billy liked the most having read his mind). His name is Aegir because Billy knows the name of every sea or ocean themed god. And he thought the shark looked like an Aegir.

Do we know if amphibians and fresh water creatures became sentient? I could be oveethinking but its been bugging me to what extent did aquatic life evolve to take over land?
there are sentient freshwater fish. ryuu chang (sashimori's drummer) is a koi carp, and nails (naut couture shopkeeper) is supposed to be a pond snail. amphibians are a mystery but id lean towards....no? idk it seems like the vibe of splatoon is ' only water dwelling fish, crustaceans, mollusks, or whatever sea creatures that the devs think are cool became sentient' the impression i get is that reptiles and amphibians to me cross some sort of line of not feeling so... sea creature-y? making the splatoon world feel more like a 'generic furry world' or something rather than 'fish world'. idk. that could be proven wrong in the future.
sea snakes, sea turtles, and axolotls are candidates for reptiles/amphibians that i could maybe see the splatoon team making sentient but i personally wouldnt make an oc out of those because of how uncertain id feel about that being a thing. frogs id have a harder time imagining becoming sentient simply because of Vibes

hi could you make headcanons (separate) of raph donnie leo and mickey 2018 dating a reader who is part of the addams family the reader is 5.4 tall and white as a dead man and has very dark circles under his eyes and always with black painted nails and the reader does not usually wear fancy clothes, but rather loose clothes but always black and the personality of the reader is a very calm boy who rarely smiles (the reader only smiles around his turtle boyfriend) he is quite introverted and loves to read and draw gore he also has a rather dark mood always making questioning jokes about murder and death etc…… the reader even introduces his turtle boyfriend to the family and to the turtle's surprise the reader's family is more than happy that the reader is dating a species of sea monster

But he never gave you criticism in it just nodded nervously and tried not to make it seem as though he doesn't like it
And every joke you make about death or just something dark makes him just stop

When he met your family he wasn't surprised that you were like them but he was shocked they liked him
He didn't expect them to like him since he's a turtle
But after a while of hanging out out them he realized the main reason they like him is because he's a turtle
He wasn't offended by it actually it was the opposite

BRIDGETTE HEADCANONS CAUSE SHE DESERVES MORE LOVE AND IM INSPIRED
• she tries to make her nails sometimes but since she surfs so much and is constantly in "aggressive water" they end up breaking and messing up everything so Bridgette keeps them short and natural
• I believe Bridgette lives close to the beach so surfing is regular on her daily basis
• when she was a child she used to believe in mermaids and would stay the WHOLE DAY waiting for them to show up (she still kinda believes in them ♡)
• when needing a time for herself she hunts sea shells but barely bring them home unless if they are reaaaally pretty and rare
• her love language is giving gifts (sea shells and handmade necklaces and bracelets), also physical affection, yknow...
• Bridgette has rescued a few animals before and keep them until they have an owner or feel health enough to release them. Like turtles, birds and cats
• nobody will change my mind that she was dating before joining total drama, only because of her audition tape (ik it could be a friendly "babe" but still 😭)
• she loves barbie idc idc she's obsessed and her favorite movie is life of mermaid IDC
• she smells good no matter what
• believe or not, she likes shopping. Not as much as Lindsay but still likes buying new surfing swinsuits!
