Hi. Santa Claus is not real.
There's this like. annual category of post I see on this website where the userbase of grown adults will, en masse, pretend that Santa is real ('santa believers' vs 'santa deniers' and chad vs incel type memes). This is the smoothsharking part; knowing that something is not true but insisting with unyielding false sincerity that it is true.
The reason I experience this as a microaggression is: I'm Jewish. Christmas, despite what gentiles insist, is not in fact a universal secular cultural experience. It's a Christian holiday. I don't celebrate it. My whole life, because I live in a Christian-majority country, I have nonetheless had it forced upon me in ostensibly secular spaces (like public school). This experience is both alienating, and functionally a mainstream form of proselytizing. It's a miniaturized version of a door-to-door missionary, cheerfully informing you, unprompted, that Christianity is of course the one "true" religion.
From the point of view of gentiles, these Santa posts are just a silly fun thing and don't mean much. Since celebrating Christmas is a mainstream tradition to which these users belong, the idea that the meaning would be different for, say, a Jewish person, does not occur to them. This is why, unintentional though it is, insisting Santa is real constitutes a microaggression. It's a broad exclusion of Jewish people (and other members of minority religions) from...well, reality itself!
Instead of being a fun, culture-specific mythological figure, the broad-strokes approach inherent to these types of casual humor posts has a pretty grim knock-on effect if you happen to be outside the category of human that has, like, fond Santa-related memories.
What does it actually mean, if "Santa is real?" Like, putting aside asinine jokes about math and physics. Let's get philosophical for a second here: Santa, mythologically, gives presents to all the good kids of the world. Jewish children do not get presents from Santa. Therefore, if Santa is real, and Jewish children do not receive presents from him, then...Jewish children are...bad?
And that's just speaking from personal experience. I'm not going to speak for members of other minority religions; or, for that matter, for Christian children who are too poor to receive 'presents from Santa'!
I know this is an extremely long response, and more likely than anything to solicit a bunch of really horrendous trolls grinning from ear to ear insisting that Santa is real / just a bit of fun, that I should get the stick out of my ass or whatever. Because, you know. These sorts of people are unable to conceptualize experiences outside of their own.
But, you asked, so I thought I'd try to answer.

I'm a 100% Santa truther, even beyond the memes. If your Santa denier child asks me if I think Santa is real who am I as a model for how to participate in society to ever deny them the reality of his existence?

“I just want enough people to enjoy my music where I can be paid doing what I love” - #MusicMoney meets John White
Tumblr media
Where are you from?
I'm from Austin, Texas
Describe your sound:
My sound is a blend between early 2000 flows with a modern twist.
Tell us about your latest track:
My sound in this track is aggressively Christmas spirited. There's a lot of memes that come up around this time called "Santa denier" memes, where people make fun of other people that don't believe in Santa. I always found them hilarious, so I wanted to make a song with that same attitude. I also wanted people to have a laugh, because there's a lot of people that are hurting this season, and I wanted to make something that could make them smile even if only briefly. So far from the feedback I've received, it's worked.
Who inspires you?
There was a time where I'd name my top 3 rappers: Biggie, Jay-Z, Eminem, but now who inspires me comes from a lot of different genres. I'm inspired by artists that achieved greatness: James Brown, Beethoven, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Otis Redding to name a few.
Where do you see your career in 5 years?
I see myself making a living from my music. I don't care about mega-fame. I just want enough people to enjoy my music where I can be paid doing what I love.
Where can we check out your sounds?
Right now my Soundcloud is where I host my music https://soundcloud.com/johnwhitemusic1
I also have a TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@the.johnwhite, and a Youtube where I do singing covers. TikTok @the.johnwhite . Youtube @John-White1
Tell us something about yourself that people need to know…
I used to be a bartender and can make the best Old Fashioned you'll ever have. I made a cinnamon one this Christmas that's out of this world, not your run of the millin'!

which batkids believe in santa?
Dick: doesn’t believe, will occasionally pretend he does. buys his siblings extra gifts and labels them as “from santa” to keep the magic alive
Jason: does believe in santa, but also thinks santa’s a dirty capitalist exploitater who discriminates against kids on the basis of class, religion, and race
Cass: casually believes, the strength of which is determined by how recently she watched the polar express
Tim: believes, and studies Clausian economics. argues with Jason that santa’s actually a based marxist and that the north pole is a co-op where elves are paid in joy
Damian: doesn’t believe, thinks everyone else is an  absolute idiot for believing
Duke: makes memes about santa deniers, is in a santa believer discord server, argues profusely that santa is real, doesn’t believe
BONUS: Bruce: believes, because Alfred never got around to telling him otherwise
