(Lists for both TD and DC might be edited in the future, but this is just what I’m comfortable with for now.)
I will do paci edits, headcanons, and fics. For fics, I’m honestly fine with writing whatever. As long as it’s nothing too angsty, NSFW, or with toxic pairings, I’m completely fine with it.
Requests are always open, but sometimes they may be a bit slow.
For requesting fics, please include who you want as the little(s) and who you want as the caregiver(s). A plot would also be greatly appreciated and would help get the fic out quicker, but if you don’t have one, I can try and think of something.

april rotation roundup
keepintouch- love you later: the way i have been abusing this song for the past month... the beat is everything and then the lyrics socked me in the face. something something the passage of time and losing friends while trying to find yourself something something. perfectly captures that liminal and confusing period after graduation imo and just getting older in general. immediately added to my ‘songs to sad twerk to’ playlist.
taste- sawyer: you know how sometimes people describe things they like as wanting to eat them? this is that in song form.
i know- micah & julia: this is one of the most different songs i’ve heard in a while, most notably in the composition and how they sing and harmonize. it’s amazing. i want to belt the chorus out with them
that’s where i am- maggie rogers: as always, miss maggie knocks it out of the park. the vocals are insane. the vibes are impeccable. also ‘wherever you go that’s where i am’ MAGGIE?????
walk with you- michael & michelle: honestly? did not think i would be as obsessed with this song as i am. the imagery and overall tone of grief is beyond gorgeous as well as the vocals. it’s comforting. it makes me cry. i don’t feel alone when i listen to it. this is a song you have to listen and sway to with your eyes closed.
gasoline- ralph: when i say this song has got me shaking crying screaming throwing up i mean it. it’s not even a song to me. it’s a ballad. it’s an anthem. it’s everything. not to blorbo this and i WILL. i will blorbo this. derek hale.
better by now- abby holliday: an absolute bop. really emphasizes my fear of loving someone more than they love me and vice versa. definitely a song about guilt and expectations but one you can’t help but groove to
secret- fleur electra: the perfect song to dance with someone to and singing it to each other. it feels lighthearted and magical
sidelines- phoebe bridgers: oh man. this song came for my soul. i want to gently cup it in my hands like a wounded animal. i’ve laid in bed cathartically crying listening to this more than once
every shade of blue- the head and the heart: the opening notes of this remind me of almost heaven by isak danielson so i loved it at the start then i fell further in love with the lyrics and the imagery and how the vocals remind me of sleeping at last. but this song is it’s own entity and i adore its sappiness and how gentle it is
i blame the world- sasha sloan: another song on my sad twerking playlist. perfect song to lose yourself in. you get lost in the rhythm and never want it to end.
crystalline- dakota deyoc: this is something you play when you’re road tripping through the mountains. the synth is other worldly. big 80′s vibes. every time this came on from my playlist i got very happy. another song i think would be on the twilight renaissance playlist

The SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act: An Update!
The US Senate bill that would let disabled & elderly people save more money while still keeping their Social Security benefits (and which is pegged to inflation so we don’t need to keep passing increases over and over!) aka baby’s personal favorite legislation of the 117th Congress, has a little update!
On 06/06/2022, the bill’s original sponsors, senators Sherrod Brown (OH Dem) and Rob Portman (OH Rep), were joined by two new sponsors, Senator Ron Wyden (OH Dem) and Senator Bill Cassidy (LA Rep). (Source: official congressional website for the SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act, also known as S.4102) The more bipartisan support, the better a chance it has of actually passing, so I’m excited!
Right now, it’s still in the Senate Committee on Finance. Keep in mind that Sherrod Brown actually introduced this legislation (or something very similar) in a previous year and it didn’t go through, but now he has Portman on board and Portman is going to get replaced in 2022, probably by a far worse Republican (fucking JD Vance, a massive capitalist who thinks welfare is Bad), so the time to get this passed is now! We don’t know what the 2022 midterms will bring.
Here’s all the current Senate Committee on Finance members, with links to their Wikipedia page. If one of these belongs to you, now would be a great time to call or send a letter! If you enter in your state on the official Senate site it will tell you their official Senate contact info. If you'd like to read the full text of the bill, I recommend it, it's very short, probably shorter than this post! I don't have a head count of who supports it at this point, but it wouldn’t hurt to let them know that they should! (I mean, I’m guessing Elizabeth Warren’s on board, lmao, but.)

Ramble of the month December 2023: Phase 4 of the Batman Begins-Led DCEU
We now come to the last ramble of 2023, and to keep me from feeling more stress than I need to around the occasion I often call Stress-Mas, I’m sticking with my comfort zone of superhero film universes that could have been.  In this case, it’s back to imagining the DCEU that could have been if Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins had launched DC’s live-action film continuity instead of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.  So, let’s get right into it by quickly re-capping phases 1-3.
Phase 1:
2005: Batman Begins
2006: Man of Steel
2007: Wonder Woman
2008: The Dark Knight, Green Lantern
2009: The Flash, Man of Steel 2
2010: Aquaman, Justice League
Phase 2:
2011: Wonder Woman 2, Green Lantern 2, Green Arrow
2012: Hawkman, Batman/Superman, Aquaman 2
2013: John Constantine, The Flash 2, Suicide Squad
2014: Justice League 2, Green Arrow 2, Batman: The Long Crusade
Phase 3:
2015: Shazam, Man of Steel 3, The Atom
2016: Wonder Woman 3, Batgirl, Teen Titans
2017: Green Lantern/Green Arrow, Shazam vs Black Adam, Suicide Squad 2
2018: Justice League: Darkseid Rising, Aquaman 3, Doom Patrol
So, phase 1 is basically there to establish the DC universe in a film format and get the Justice League together.  Phase 2 builds on that foundation, but it also takes a big whack at it by having Batman’s caution over his colleagues going rogue cause issues within the league.  With Green Arrow 2, the caution proves apt and brings about a lot of change, which is followed up in phase 3.  Now with the third Justice League film focusing on a prelude to an attack by Darkseid, one may assume phase 4 will take a similar tack to phase 3 of the real-life MCU and play into similar plot threads to Infinity War and Endgame.  However, when we look into phase 4, things aren’t totally what you’d expect.
Phase 4:
2019: Superman: Doomsday, New Gods, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract
2020: Suicide Squad: Arkham, Knightfall, Green Arrow 3
2021: Reign of the Supermen, Green Lantern: Twilight, Knightsend
2022: Justice League: Armageddon, Teen Titans 3, Justice Society
Looking at this, the more knowledgeable DC fans out there can probably see what I mean when I talk about phase 4 maybe not going where you’d think.  We’re channelling some major shake-up story arcs from the 1990’s in this phase, so expect the unexpected is definitely a must.  However, for those who may be less knowledgeable and for those who want to get into the blow-by-blow details, let’s check these hypothetical DCEU phase 4 films.
Superman: Doomsday (2019) Directed by JJ Abrams
Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent = Brandon Routh
Lois Lane = Kate Bosworth
Kara Zor-El/Supergirl = Dakota Fanning
Doomsday = Terry Notary
Lex Luthor = Kelsey Grammer
Mercy Graves = Scarlett Johannsen
John Henry Irons = Aldis Hodge
Hank Henshaw = John Kraskinski
Terri Henshaw = Kate Mara
Martha Kent = Diane Lane
Jonathan Kent = Kevin Costner
Jor-El = Russell Crowe
Dr Emil Hamilton = Richard Schiff
Perry White = Sam Neill
Jimmy Olsen = Rider Strong
Cat Grant = January Jones
Steve Lombard = Josh Brolin
Capt. Maggie Sawyer = Jeri Ryan
Insp. Turpin = Colin Farrell
Bibbo Bibbowski = Luke Hemsworth
Mongul = Ioan Gruffudd
Guy Gardner = Damian Lewis
Dinah Lance/Black Canary = Malin Akerman
J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter = Chiwetel Ejiofor
Barry Allen/The Flash = Matt Damon
Booster Gold/Michael Jon Carter = Alexander Ludwig
Fire/Beatriz Bonilla da Costa = Selena Gomez
Ice/Tora Olafsdotter = Kristine Froseth
Mari McCabe/Vixen = Lupita Nyong'o
To date, the Death of Superman story arc of the 1990’s has had three adaptations in film.  The first was an animated home-release film called Superman: Doomsday, which heavily shortened the death arc and went a long way off the original source material story regarding Superman’s absence and eventual return.  Next came Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, which essentially shoe-horned a version of the story into its ending, then mangled the resurrection arc between Snyder and Joss Whedon in the 2017 Justice League film.  Third were the DCAMU film adaptations from 2018 and 2019, with the first being a fairly accurate adaptation of the Death arc, while the second film was similarly good quality on part 2.
For this alternate DCEU, I’d want to borrow the title of the first attempt, ignore anything Snyder-based and try for a longer and slightly different variation on what the DCAMU gave us.  As a result, we still get a good quality adaptation without being a carbon copy.  The plot is roughly the same, in that Superman would have to go up against an alien monster called Doomsday, and has to lay down his life to end the threat.  However, changes include the Justice League line-up aiding him, Lex Luthor isn’t trying to pass himself off as his illegitimate Australian son (don’t know what the comics were thinking on that one), and of course it’s the more modern Supergirl on hand instead of the 90’s version.
The cast is mostly retained from prior films, though a few are new in this film, specifically Doomsday, the Henshaws, Bibbowski, Mongul and JL members Fire, Ice and Booster Gold.  In addition, there’s a change of direction; up to now, each Superman film has had different directors, going from Roland Emmerich to Ron Howard to Guillermo del Toro, with Rob Marshall directing the Batman/Superman film in phase 2.  This time, it’s JJ Abrams taking up the reigns, having previously been my selection for the two Flash solo films of this alternate DCEU.
New Gods (2019) Directed by Ridley Scott
Scott Free/Mister Miracle = Charlie Cox
Barda Free/Big Barda = Lindsay Kay Hayward
Darkseid = Bernard Hill
Izaya the Inheritor/Highfather = Brian Cox
Orion = Tom Hardy
Solis/Lightray = Charlie Hunnam
Bekka = Danielle Fishel
Metron = Jonny Lee Miller
Forager = Steven Yeun
DeSaad = David Wenham
Mantis = Winston Duke
Virman Vundabar = August Diehl
Granny Goodness = Stockard Channing
Bernadeth = Rachel Weisz
Bloody Mary = Jennifer Stone
Lashina = Kristin Kreuk
Mad Harriett = Hannah John-Kamen
Stompa = Ronda Rousey
Steppenwolf = Ciarán Hinds
Kalibak = Liev Schreiber
For this film, we’re following up on events from the previous Justice League film as well as our Death of Superman adaptation.  With Superman down, the heroes Mister Miracle and Big Barda return to their home-world of New Genesis in an attempt to bring their kin to Earth’s defence against an almost-certain assault by Darkseid.  However, their leader Highfather is unwilling to violate a non-aggression pact between their world and Darkseid’s planet Apokolips.  However, Darkseid is less scrupulous and facing potential usurpation by Virman Vundabar, so it’s actually New Genesis that comes under attack.
This film is very much about getting a better look at Darkseid and his supporting cast, while at the same time getting to explore the New Gods and paying cinematic homage to one of the more notable Jack Kirby creations from his DC Comics work.  Mister Miracle, Big Barda, Darkseid, DeSaad, Steppenwolf and Kalibak are brought back from the last Justice League film, while everyone else is introduced for the first time.  The castings of Danielle Fishel and Jennifer Stone attest to the attention I’ve paid at times to Disney Channel sit-coms (in this case, Boy Meets World/Girl Meets World and Wizards of Waverley Place, respectively), while most others are from a smattering of various mainstream films and shows.
As we’re dealing with alien worlds, I picked Aliens director Ridley Scott to helm this one.  This is a first-time pick for this alternate DCEU.
Teen Titans: The Judas Contract (2019) Directed by Matthew Vaughan
Richard Grayson/Robin/Nightwing = Patrick Schwarzenegger
Koriand'r/Starfire = Elle Fanning
Donna Troy/Wonder Girl = Ciara Bravo
Wallace "Wally" West/Kid Flash = Calum Worthy
Raven = Maisie Williams
Victor Stone/Cyborg = Ashton Sanders
Garfield "Gar" Logan/Beast Boy = Dylan Sprayberry
Tara Markov/Terra = Emma Bading
Joseph Wilson/Jericho = Brenock O'Connor
Slade Wilson/Deathstroke = Daniel Day-Lewis
Sebastian Blood/Brother Blood = Tyler Hoechlin
Mother Mayhem = Jennifer Connelly
Adeline Kane = Kristin Davis
Wintergreen = Martin Shaw
The Judas Contract is a 1980’s story arc for the young heroes that’s seen a couple of adaptations, first in the team’s animated series of the early 2000’s and then as a film within the DCAMU.  It’s a good tragic story, as well as a coming-of-age story about being careful who you trust.  This film version would try to adapt it a bit closer to the comics, including the incorporation of Deathstroke’s mute son Jericho, his estranged wife Adeline and his best friend Wintergreen.  The film would also showcase Dick Grayson’s shift from Robin to Nightwing, and since Terra is of Eastern/Mid-European descent like her brother in the Outsiders, the casting takes this into account.
While the main Titans and Deathstroke return from past films, Terra and the other characters are new.  Emma Bading is a German actress with a decent filmography who would be of comparable age to the other Titans, hence her selection.  Direction-wise, I’m looking to Matthew Vaughan, having previously picked him in this alternate DCEU for the solo Green Lantern films, based primarily on the work he did on X-Men: First Class.
Suicide Squad: Arkham (2020) Directed by Guillermo del Toro
Amanda Waller = Viola Davis
Rick Flag Jr. = Joel Kinnaman
Floyd Lawton/Deadshot = Christian Slater
Captain Boomerang/Digger Harkness = Hugh Jackman
Dr Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn = Margot Robbie
Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger = Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Cheshire/Jade Nguyen = Rila Fukushima
Nanaue/King Shark = Sylvester Stalone
Claire Selton/Volcana = Kirsten Stewart
Killer Croc/Waylon Jones = Tyler Mane
Cluemaster/Arthur Brown = Martin McDonagh
Cavalier/Mortimer Drake = Kit Harington
Sonar/Bito Wladon = Silvio Simac
Baffler/Titus Czonka = Michael Chicklis
Bane = Rodrigo Santoro
Angel Vallelunga/Bird = Diego Luna
Zombie = Stephen Merchant
Trogg = Luis Guzmán
Dr Jeremiah Arkham = Dan Stevens
Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin = Sean Astin
Det. Crispus Allen = Djimon Honsou
Det. Peter Foley = Matt Le Blanc
Barbara Gordon/Batgirl = Bella Thorne
Having used Guillermo del Toro of Blade 2 fame to helm a third solo Superman film and the second Suicide Squad film of this alternate DC film universe, I’ve brought him back for a film that leads directly into the Knightfall/Knightsend duology.  In this case, Amanda Waller has heard rumours of a new player in Gotham City planning to make some kind of move on Arkham Asylum.  To that end, she recruits two Suicide Squads; one made up mostly of lesser Gotham villains who are to find out who the new player is and stop them, the other as back-up in case the first team fails or turns traitor.  As to why team 1 lacks the usual explosive fail-safes, this is so Waller can avoid being found out, as Batman is wise to such things.  However, as the film progresses, it’s more Batgirl and Detectives Allen and Foley of the GCPD who periodically disrupt the operation.
As the plot develops, the threat of Bane is ultimately revealed, at great cost to the Squad.  In fact, this is where the first real shock probably comes in, because this film will see Harley Quinn killed by Bane.  This is done largely to show that no one is safe from Bane and increase the stakes for the upcoming Batman films, but it also sets up for a Joker-related film plot in the next phase of this alternate DCEU.  I won’t go into unpicking all the new versus old casting on this one; if you look through my Ramble articles past on this alternate DCEU, you’ll be able to see for yourselves.
Knightfall (2020) Directed by Matt Reeves
Bruce Wayne/Batman = Christian Bale
Alfred Pennyworth = Michael Caine
Tim Drake/Robin II = David Mazouz
Lucius Fox = Morgan Freeman
James "Jim" Gordon = Gary Oldman
Bane = Rodrigo Santoro
Angel Vallelunga/Bird = Diego Luna
Zombie = Stephen Merchant
Trogg = Luis Guzmán
Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael/Batman II = Connor Jessup
Nomoz = Michael Klebba
Det. Harvey Bullock = Donal Logue
Det. Renee Montoya = Penelope Cruz
The Joker = Willem Dafoe
Dr Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy = April Bowlby
Edward Nygma/Riddler = John Barrowman
Arnold Wesker/Ventriloquist = Giovanni Ribisi
Burt Weston/Film Freak = Luke Mitchell
Jervis Tetch/Mad Hatter = Matthew Jaeger
Aaron Helzinger/Amygdala = David Denman
Victor Zsasz = Elijah Wood
Maxie Zeus = Goran Višnjić
Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow = Cillian Murphy
Carleton LeHah = Lambert Wilson
Jack Drake = Tobey Maguire
Mrs. McIlvaine = Sinéad Cusack
Dr Shondra Kinsolving = Aisha Tyler
Mayor Armand Krol = Eli Roth
Dr Jeremiah Arkham = Dan Stevens
Dr Simpson Flanders = Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Knightfall is an epic-length film that covers much of the comic story arc of the same name from Batman comics on the 1990’s.  In the original arc, Bane breaks out all the villains of Arkham Asylum, forcing an already weary Batman to exhaust himself chasing down the escapees prior to a showdown with Bane.  In that showdown, Bane broke Batman’s back, forcing Bruce Wayne to hand the cape-and-cowl over to apprentice superhero Jean-Paul Valley, who was trying to overcome brainwashing he’d undergone to be an assassin of sorts called Azrael.  After an opening act to introduce Azrael a few months prior, the film then jumps in at the moment the preceding Suicide Squad film ends; with Bane firing a rocket at Arkham to bust the villains out.
With a montage here and there to expedite matters, Batman wears himself down as before, only to be broken by Bane as in the comics, and as before, Jean-Paul is handed the mantle of the Batman.  However, it soon becomes clear this may have been a mistake, and when Jean-Paul confronts Bane, it’s uncertain whether the new Batman will triumph over his mental trauma or not.  The film contains a huge ensemble cast and covers a wide range of Batman characters both good and evil.  To direct, I’ve picked Matt Reeves, who did the Planet of the Apes reboots and in this alternate DCEU has already helmed the third solo Batman film.
Green Arrow 3 (2020) Directed by Rian Johnson
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow = Ethan Hawke
Dinah Lance/Black Canary = Malin Akerman
Connor Hawke/Green Arrow II = Levon Hawke
Eddie Fyers = Seth Green
Roy Harper/Speedy/Arsenal = Cameron Monaghan
Veronica Dale/Hyrax = Anna Kendrick
Leopard/Leonard/Ed Pinkwater = Ian Somerhalder
Camorouge = Émilie Dequenne
Callendar = Jon Cryer
Dreyfus = Method Man
Nathan = Sam Worthington
Paine = Michael B Jordan
Monroe = Jon Bernthal
Belle = Sara Paxton
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan = Ben Affleck
As 90’s DC fans might guess, this film is all about adapting Oliver Queen’s death from 90’s comics into film, though I swap Superman out for Green Lantern on three counts.  First, slating this film for in-between Superman’s death and return prohibits his involvement.  Two, Hal and Ollie have long had a major bromance to add greater importance to the climax.  Three, it makes the built-up to our solo GL film a bit better, as we will see.  Aside from Hal Jordan, only Oliver Queen, Dinah and Roy are returning rolls, while the rest of the characters are all new and largely exclusive to this film and its storyline.
What is the story line, beyond killing the original Green Arrow?  Well, like the comics, Ollie goes undercover with a group of eco-terrorists to uncover their plans, but he starts to fall for a member of the group, and at the same time, Ollie’s illegitimate son shows up looking to connect with his dad.  For film direction, I’ve gone with Rian Johnson, a new selection for our alternate DCEU based on his work with the Star Wars film The Last Jedi.
Reign of the Supermen (2021) Directed by JJ Abrams
Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent = Brandon Routh
Lois Lane = Kate Bosworth
Kara Zor-El/Supergirl = Dakota Fanning
Hank Henshaw/Cyborg Superman = Brandon Routh
The Eradicator = Brandon Routh
Conner Kent/Con-El/Superboy = Asher Angel
Mongul = Ioan Gruffudd
Lex Luthor = Kelsey Grammer
Mercy Graves = Scarlett Johannsen
John Henry Irons/Steel = Aldis Hodge
Jaina Hudson/White Rabbit = Hayley Kiyoko
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan = Ben Affleck
Martha Kent = Diane Lane
Jonathan Kent = Kevin Costner
Jor-El = Russell Crowe
Dr Emil Hamilton = Richard Schiff
Perry White = Sam Neill
Jimmy Olsen = Rider Strong
Cat Grant = January Jones
Steve Lombard = Josh Brolin
Capt. Maggie Sawyer = Jeri Ryan
Insp. Turpin = Colin Farrell
Bibbo Bibbowski = Luke Hemsworth
Obviously, this film covers the return of Superman arc in much the same way as the comics do in the broadest sense; four Supermen turn up, Lois tries to work out who the real one is, one turns out to be a villain in league with the alien tyrant Mongul, whose role is expanded in this film.  Their plans destroy Hal Jordan’s home town of Coast City, but Metropolis is saved by the returning real Superman.  The film borrows a bit from its DCAMU counterpart by simplifying the Eradicator’s history, and indeed over this film and the previous Superman one we’ve done the same with Hank Henshaw.  This is because the characters had prior history with Superman in the comics, but our film continuity wouldn’t cover that, so a bit of a tweak is in order.
Now because both the Eradicator and Henshaw were meant to resemble Superman outwardly to some extent, the casting of them is now a matter of putting Brandon Routh into those roles as well as playing his original Superman role in the third act.  We also get another step on Hal Jordan’s descent into darkness, something that hasn’t had a proper adaptation in any media.  The closest we’ve come is the last Green Lantern solo film in DC’s Tomorrow-verse continuity, which frankly isn’t that good, but more on this under the next film.  JJ Abrams remains the director here to keep things consistent within this duology.
Green Lantern: Twilight (2021) Directed by Sam Raimi
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan/Parallax = Ben Affleck
Carol Ferris = Liv Tyler
Tom Kalmaku = Taika Waititi
Thaal Sinestro = Mark Strong
Kilowog = Tyrese Gibson
Kyle Rayner/Green Lantern II = Taylor Lautner
Alex DeWitt = Hunter King
Clifford Zmeck/Major Force = Luke Evans
Mongul = Ioan Gruffudd
Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent = Brandon Routh
Boodikka = Gina Carano
Ke'Haan = Kevin Durand
Laira = Emma Stone
Kreon = Ryan Philippe
Ganthet = Patrick Stewart
Sayd = Glenn Close
Appa Ali Apsa = Hugo Weaving
Tomar Tu = Tom Hiddleston
Jack T. Chance = Colton Haynes
Hannu = Lee Pace
Graf Toren = Hiroyuki Sanada
As you might imagine, this film would be filmed in close proximity to the two before it to facilitate the various cross-over aspects of it.  This time, we’re doing the Emerald Twilight/New Dawn story arc, in which Hal Jordan suffers a mental breakdown after his home town is destroyed during the events of Superman’s return.  In a fit of anger, he rampages across the stars to Oa, home planet of the Green Lantern Corps, defeating fellow lanterns and swiping their power rings.  After a final showdown with his friend Kilowog and enemy Sinestro, Hal takes all the power of the central Lantern battery, becoming a villain known as Parallax who plans to remake the universe to prevent the destruction of Coast City.  However, a last member of the Guardians travels to Earth and bestows a last Lantern ring on freelance artist Kyle Rayner, and thus a new Green Lantern is found, but one who must master the ring with no GL corps or Guardians to guide him.
Again, not going to unpick who is new and who is long-standing for this film as it would be a bit long-winded to explain.  However, as we don’t really include Golden Age superheroes like original GL Alan Scott, exposition regarding Hal’s actions to Kyle ends up coming from Superman’s appearances in the film, as well as human GLs Guy Gardner and John Stewart.  Due to the way Hal acts in this story arc, not to mention this film adapting the infamous murder of Kyle Rayner’s girlfriend, I picked Sam Raimi to direct this film based on his horror film background.  Raimi was also my pick to direct a John Constantine one-off film in phase 2 of this alternate DCEU.
Knightsend (2021) Directed by Matt Reeves
Bruce Wayne/Batman = Christian Bale
Alfred Pennyworth = Michael Caine

When Bruce’s doctor Shondra Kinsolving is abducted, the crippled Bruce Wayne begins a search that leads to the healing of his back at great cost, while Jean-Paul Valley grows increasingly unstable.  Now heavily armoured and armed, this Batman is more brutal, and when a man dies from Jean-Paul’s behaviour, the recovered Bruce Wayne must begin a crash-course in the fighting arts in order to confront his errant replacement and reclaim the mantle of the bat.  Again keeping Matt Reeves in the directorial position for duology consistency, this film focuses on the follow-up to Knightfall as the defeated Bane is moved aside and the battle comes out as original Batman versus would-be replacement.

Our latest Justice League film brings a few different plot threads in from past films.  Following the events of Justice League: Darkseid Rising, the death and return of Superman and the New Gods film, Darkseid finally dares to try and assault Earth.  Forewarned by survivors sent from New Genesis, the Justice League gathers what heroes it can, and also reaches out to the Suicide Squad.  The Doom Patrol also appears, but at the climax of the film, as Darkseid takes to the field of battle, there are two major shocks; the death of the Flash, and the arrival of Parallax, who decides to wipe out the forces of Apokalips.  Suddenly it's not an alien tyrant who threatens the armageddon of the film’s title, but one of their very own turned to darkness by grief and fear.
The film has a huge ensemble cast, largely reprising roles from past films.  Debby Ryan as Suicide Squad member Nightshade is the sole piece of new casting in this film, and as for direction, I decided that the work done by the Russo Brothers in the MCU, especially Infinity War and Endgame, earns them the chance to direct this film and one or two subsequent instalments in this film universe.

Dr Arthur Light = James McAvoy
Cassie Sandsmark/Wonder Girl II = Amiah Miller

Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle = Iñaki Godoy
Tim Drake/Robin II = David Mazouz
Conner Kent/Con-El/Superboy = Asher Angel
Roy Harper/Speedy/Arsenal = Cameron Monaghan
Tempest/Garth = Luke Benward
For this film, we retain Matthew Vaughan from our last Teen Titans film for directing and explain the absence of the Teen Titans from Justice League: Apocalypse a little.  Following an arc over all three Teen Titans films, Raven is struggling to contain her father’s presence, but after a major fight with the villainous Doctor Light, Trigon manages to possess Raven and attacks the Titans through her.  With the main team decimated, a group of new, younger teen heroes rise to aid their predecessors.  By the end, what Titans remain would not be in much shape to fight, win or lose.  Much of the cast is retained from past films, with the characters of Doctor Light, Wonder Girl II, Miss Martian and Blue Beetle being the newcomers for this instalment.

Hal Jordan/Parallax = Ben Affleck
Black Adam/Teth-Adam = Dwayne Johnson
Metron = Jonny Lee Miller
Closing out phase 4 of my alternate DCEU is a take on the Justice Society that borrows from a Justice League animated series story line and Marvel’s Wandavision series.  In this film, Hawkman, Hawkgirl and Shazam wake up in a world where they’re part of the Justice Society, a superhero team operating in a 1950’s-style American mid-west town.  Though they initially suspect nothing wrong, Hawkman’s past life memories and Shazam’s wisdom of Soloman begin to disrupt a strange mental hold, and as they do, the infamous Injustice Guild becomes much deadlier.  In reality, Parallax is doing a test-run of his proposed plans to the time stream, but as the test is disrupted from within, the New God Metron convinces anti-hero Black Adam to interfere from without.
For direction, I went with James Gunn out of curiosity to see what he could do with this, given that in real life he’s become the DC film-verse’s equivalent to Marvel’s Kevin Feige.  In terms of casting, the individual characters mentioned in the paragraph above are all returning actors, while everyone else is new and exclusive to this film.  As for why I think this would be a good approach on the Justice Society, that’s down to a desire to pay homage to the early comics in a way that’s nostalgic while also advancing the Parallax story arc.
So, that’s it for phase 4 of this alternate DCEU.  More to come on this and my alternate MCU in the new year, but not right away as I’m hoping to get more variation on the go in the new year.  So, until next month, Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating that occasion, Happy Holidays for those celebrating something else, have a prosperous new year when we get to the end of this year, and otherwise ta-ta for now.

In mid-October there were laments from Academy and guild members that the screening rooms had paltry offerings for the then-impending awards season, but  now as we're sliding December that has all changed.
Tumblr media
Screenings and panels have been running rampant, a  far cry from last year when  the  pandemic  put everything on ice. It hasn't-however- reached the level of pre-pandemic days.  Pre-pandemic there were so many events  happening  all at once at the same location -it was like Comic Con, whereas now there is breathing room. Let's see if that changes come December as a few more films enter the fray.  As we go back to  in-person events each studio has their own way of handling it.  I've been to screenings where you just need to show your vaccination card, one studio requires vaccination and a negative  Covid test 72-hours before the event; Deadline held their annual Contenders  panels - an all day event - which required a vaccination and a Covid test 48 hours before the event. Netflix took it further with requiring vaccination and a negative PCR Covid test 24 hours prior to the event. Netflix was facilitating the testing as it was short turnaround. But they have now backed off of the Covid test requirement. I'm unsure if it's because they got pushback due to the short timeframe or because of the fact that the 24 hour rapid testing is prone to produce false positives. Case in point, Don Johnson, father of Dakota, was seated for the premiere of Dakota's Netflix film THE LOST DAUGHTER (which won Best Screenplay at tonight's Gotham Awards) when he was asked to exit the theater and was told his test came back positive. He argued that the result was wrong but, of course, still had to leave. When he re-tested it came back negative. While Netflix's FYC site is pushing many films/documentaries, it's easy to tell which films they are truly championing. The ones they are rallying behind are Jane Campion's THE POWER OF THE DOG, Maggie Gyllenhaal's THE LOST DAUGHTER, Rebecca Hall's  PASSING, and Lin-Manuel Miranda's TICK, TICK..BOOM!, but the one that seems to be Netflix's favourite child is Adam McKay's DON'T LOOK  UP.
Tumblr media
I wrote off McKay's DON'T LOOK UP due to the large cast, chalking  it up to being zany bit of nuttiness like Tim Burton's  MARS ATTACKS!  or those classic disaster films with Hollywood legends. But seeing how Netflix is going all in on it has made me realize that Netflix is  truly looking  at this as a contender.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which shouldn't surprise me as McKay  has managed to get Oscar nods for the fantastic THE BIG SHORT and the  less fantastic, but no  less well-received VICE. McKay - a executive producer on HBO's SUCCESSION has come a long way from just being Will Ferrell's writing and producing partner (the two created the now defunct website "Funny or Die" and co-wrote Ferrell's biggest hits like ANCHORMAN, TALLADEGA NIGHTS:THE BALLAD OF RICKY BOBBY","STEP BROTHERS" and "THE OTHER GUYS" and ran the now dismantled production company Gary Sanchez Productions.
Tumblr media
Ferrell has continued on with the off-shoot of Gary Sanchez, Gloria Sanchez Production which produced HUSTLERS, BOOKSMART, BARB AND MAR GO TO VISTA DEL MAR and Netflix's DEAD TO ME and the Will Ferrell/Paul Rudd starrer THE SHRINK NEXT DOOR). The film is already receiving acclaim for and even a few nominations already. Recently at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi's "Don't Look Up" was nominated for Best Song (Feature Film)
Tumblr media
losing out to Billie Eilish's "No Time to Die" and Best Song (Onscreen Performance) losing out to Emilia Jones from Apple+'s CODA. There was a win for the film with Nicholas Brittell taking Best Score (Feature Film) beating out notables like Hans Zimmer, Alexandr Desplate, Harry Gregson-Williams and my dude Jonny Greenwood. Zimmer got his win in BEST SCORE (Sci-Fi / Fantasy) for DUNE.

I don’t like rewarding shouty clicktivism, so I won’t reblog it, but there is a bill in the Senate to fix a lot of problems with disability payments.
The bill is S.2065 - A bill to amend title XVI of the Social Security Act to update eligibility for the supplemental security income program, and for other purposes. It would raise the standard payment, increase the asset limit from $2000 to $10,000, and make it possible to earn moderate amounts of outside income and be not quite as perverse - currently you have your disability payment reduced 1:1 for income with a very broad definition of ‘income’. It also would remove the clause that removes benefits if the disabled person gets married.
This is a pretty worthy cause and seems fairly unobjectionable even from a small-government perspective, so it’s probably worth calling/emailing/etc. your Congressional reps. It’s currently in committee - Finance Committee membership list here.
Current list of cosponsors:
Sen. Brown, Sherrod [D-OH] (primary sponsor) Sen. Sanders, Bernard [I-VT] Sen. Warren, Elizabeth [D-MA] Sen. Padilla, Alex [D-CA] Sen. Baldwin, Tammy [D-WI] Sen. Van Hollen, Chris [D-MD] Sen. Markey, Edward J. [D-MA] Sen. Booker, Cory A. [D-NJ] Sen. Duckworth, Tammy [D-IL] Sen. Hirono, Mazie K. [D-HI] Sen. Blumenthal, Richard [D-CT] Sen. Murray, Patty [D-WA] Sen. Wyden, Ron [D-OR] Sen. Durbin, Richard J. [D-IL] Sen. Whitehouse, Sheldon [D-RI] Sen. Menendez, Robert [D-NJ] Sen. Casey, Robert P., Jr. [D-PA] Sen. Smith, Tina [D-MN] Sen. Peters, Gary C. [D-MI]
ATM the most valuable people to contact are (1) the ranking Republicans on the committee; that’s Mike Crapo [ID], Chuck Grassley [IA], and John Cornyn [TX]. And (2) the Dems on the committee who haven’t sponsored it - Debbie Stabenow [MI], Maria Cantwell [WA], Thomas R. Carper [DE], Benjamin L. Cardin [MD], Michael F. Bennet [CO], Mark R. Warner [VA], Maggie Hassan [NH], and Catherine Cortez Masto [NV].
TL;DR: If you live in Idaho, Iowa, Texas, Michigan, Washington, Delaware, Maryland, Colorado, Virginia, New Hampshire, or Nevada, this is probably worth your time to do sooner rather than later. If you live in South Dakota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Lousiana, Oklahoma, Montana, Indiana, Nebraska, or Wyoming, there is a Republican senator with less seniority that might be worth your time to contact soonish.

round up // JANUARY 21
Tumblr media
New year, not-so-new Crowd vs. Critic! It’s another batch of films, TV, music, and reads that were new to me this month and think you would enjoy, too. As we cozy up inside for the winter, nothing warms you up like a good piece of pop culture.
January Crowd-Pleasers
Tumblr media
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Does this sequel reach the heights of 2017’s Wonder Woman? No, but I wish more superhero movies were like this one. I explain why at ZekeFilm. Crowd: 9.5/10 // Critic: 8/10
Tumblr media
21 Bridges (2019)
A solid action crime thriller with a solid Chadwick Boseman at the center. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7.5/10
Tumblr media
The Lethal Weapon Series (1987-98)
I watched the first Lethal Weapon in 2017 for ZekeFilm, but now I’ve a decade’s pleasure of progressively over-the-top action sequences and progressively more absurd ways to destroy Roger Murtaugh’s (Danny Glover) house. The Murtaugh/Riggs bromance holds this progressively sillier series together, and an supporting cast of charismatic actors (Jet Li, Darlene Love, Chris Rock, Rene Russo) are game for whatever comes their way. Joe Pesci is the true MVP. Series Crowd: 9/10 // Series Critic: 7/10
Tumblr media
The High Note (2020)
Tracee Ellis Ross’s Grace Davis is a diva in every sense of the word. A high-strung and highly successful singer, she’s also highly demanding of her assistant Maggie (Dakota Johnson), who wants to step out of her shadow and become a music producer. This rom-com-adjacent flick is one of the most fun escapes I’ve had from a 2020 movie, and it’s perfect for a girls’ night in. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7/10
Tumblr media
Double Feature—Rom-Coms With a Magical Twist: Just My Luck (2006) + When In Rome (2010)
Disclaimer: These movies are not good. In fact, they’re junk, but they’re my kind of junk. In Just My Luck (Crowd: 7.5/10 // Critic: 6/10), Lindsay Lohan loses her life-long lucky streak when she kisses schlimazel Chris Pine. And When in Rome (Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 6/10), Kristen Bell attracts unwanted admirers (Will Arnett, Danny DeVito, Josh Duhamel, Jon Heder, and real-life future husband Dax Shepard) after she steals their coins from a wishing fountain. To their credit, both of these movies know they’re silly, which means you have permission to just sit back and laugh along with (or, honestly, at) them.
Tumblr media
WandaVision (2021)
I sometimes fear for the world of entertainment when I think of how much intellectual property Disney has gobbled up, but WandaVision is evidence the company is a benevolent dictator at least for now. This odd delight is a send up and a tribute to sitcoms like I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeannie, and The Brady Bunch, and Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen are so charming and weird I don’t need whatever mysterious sub-plot they’re building.
Tumblr media
Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993)
If you want to make the most of watching Robin Hood: Men in Tights, first watch Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), an action flick I saw last February and didn’t include in my monthly Round Up. This Mel Brooks spoof is a direct response that self-serious Kevin Costner adventure, even down to copying its costumes. While I wish I could find a Mel Brooks comedy with any substantial female character (in every movie I’ve seen so far, the joke is either, “She’s got a great rack!” or “Wow, she’s an uggo!”), I still couldn’t stop laughing at this 104-minute version of the Robin Hood scene in Shrek. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 8/10
Tumblr media
Aliens (1986)
Peak ‘80s action. Peak alien grossness. Peak girl boss Sigourney Weaver. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 8/.510
Tumblr media
Big (1988)
After talking about Laverne & Shirley with Kyla on SO IT’S A SHOW?, I had to check out Penny Marshall’s classic. While a few moments haven’t aged so well, its heart is sweet and the script is hilarious. And that Tom Hanks? I think he’s going places. Crowd: 9.5/10 // Critic: 8/10
Tumblr media
Unstoppable (2010)
I’ve laughed at SNL’s spoof of this movie for a decade, so it’s about time I got around to enjoying this action thriller very loosely based on the true story of a train that got away from its conductor. Denzel Washington (“You’re too old!”) and Chris Pine (“You’re too young!”) are our heroes in this over-the-top ridiculousness, and their chemistry is so extra it makes me hope they team up for another movie again. Crowd:  9/10 // Critic: 7/10
January Critic Picks
Tumblr media
Double Feature—‘90s Space Adventures: Apollo 13 (1995) + Contact (1997)
I have no desire to join Tom Cruise as he films in space, but I know I’ll be pumped to watch whatever he makes because I love sci-fi and space  adventures. Apollo 13 (Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 9/10) tells the story of an almost-disastrous NASA mission in the ‘60s, and it taps into our hope for the human spirit to overcome obstacles. Contact (Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 8.5/10) surmises what might happen if we received communication from extraterrestrial life, and it taps into our struggle to reconcile faith and science.
Tumblr media
McCartney III by Paul McCartney (2020)
I spent January catching up on the albums on Best of 2020 lists, and the one I listened to for hours and hours was Paul McCartney’s latest solo album. Catchy, thoughtful, and musically surprising, it ranges from pop to rock to folk in 45 minutes and still feels like it’s over too soon. Like Tom Hanks, this Paul McCartney guy is going places!
Tumblr media
The Thin Man Series (1934-47)
Like Lethal Weapon, I watched the first installment of The Thin Man awhile back, and Kyla and I even covered the series on our podcast. But thanks to a full series marathon on TCM earlier this month, I’ve now laughed through all five. When you talk about great chemistry, you’ve got to talk about William Powell and Myrna Loy, who make Nick and Nora’s marriage feel lived in and romantic as they solve crimes together. Witty, suspenseful, and jaunty, this series is still sexy cool over 80 years later. (Also, Asta? Still one of the cutest dogs in cinema.) Series Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 8.5/10
Tumblr media
The King and I (1956)
Here’s your regularly scheduled reminder Hollywood works differently now, and many casting decisions of the ‘50s wouldn’t fly today. What has aged well in this film: The Rodgers and Hammerstein music and the sumptuous costumes and set design. I love extravagant musicals of yesteryear—perhaps it’s time for Hollywood to revisit and remake The King and I for modern audiences?
youtube
Inauguration Day
In a year with no major televised events with celebrities in a room together, Inauguration Day felt like the most exciting cultural event in ages. We’ve been missing major fashion, but then we got Lady Gaga! We’ve been missing live performances, but then we got Amanda Gorman! And I got a lot of tears during that poem—not just me, right?
Tumblr media
Good Reads
Writing that made me think and smile this month:
Steven Soderbergh’s list of everything he read, watched, and listened to this year, Extension765.com (2020) – An indirect inspiration for these monthly Round Ups!
“My Year of Making Lists,” NewYorker.com (2020) – I made a lot of lists in 2020, so I feel this author’s #mood
“Betty White Says She Will Spend Her 99th Birthday Feeding Two Ducks Who Visit Her ‘Every Day,’“ CBSNews.com (2021) - “Betty is a treasure,” I say as I watch The Proposal for the 99th time
“A Sculpture’s Unusual Journey to SLAM [St. Louis Art Museum],” SLAM.org (2020) – With a casual mention of an attraction I never knew about in St. Louis
“The Culture Is Ailing. It’s Time for a Dr. Fauci for the Arts.” WashingtonPost.com (2020) – An idea that occurred to me a few months ago: Why don’t we have an Arts Cabinet?
“The Arts Are in Crisis. Here’s How Biden Can Help.” NYTimes.com (2021) – Partly in response to that Washington Post piece, a historical look at how artists have made it through difficult times in the past and how we can revive artists’ livelihoods mid- and post-pandemic
“The Right’s Message to Silicon Valley: 'Free Speech for Me, But Not for Thee,'” TIME.com (2021) – A more thoughtful and less reactionary take on a volatile moment in the history of modern technology
“'It Makes Me Sick With Grief': Trump's Presidency Divided Families. What Happens to Them Now?” TIME.com (2021) – A study on how politics has done damage to family dynamics in America
“Help, the Only Cinema I Can Handle Is Zac Efron Prancing Angrily in High School Musical 2,” Vulture.com (2021) - In a lot of ways, same
“50 Easy Things To Do When You are Anxious,” ShopTwentySeven.com (2021) – I especially endorse coloring, puzzling, and watching happy movies!
Tumblr media
Double Feature—Miss Marple Mysteries: Murder at the Gallop (1963) + Murder Ahoy (1964)
Remember when I was all like, “Watch these Agatha Christie movies so you’re not sad Death on the Nile is delayed”? Remember when I said I was just a few movies away from becoming an Agatha Christie junkie? Well, I think I’m there because I can’t stop with the murder mysteries! Margaret Rutherford is a treasure whether she’s solving a murder at a horse ranch or on a boat, and a cast of colorful supporting characters (including Rutherford’s husband) makes these breezy instead of heavy. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 8/10
Tumblr media
8½ (1963)
File this with 2001: A Space Odyssey—I don’t know if I really understood this film, but I think I liked it? Federico Fellini’s surrealist, male gaze-y drama blurs the lines between reality and imagination, love and dysfunction, and the past and maybe some future that involves clowns? What resonated with me was the story of a director with creative block, wondering if he’s already peaked and if he’ll create anything worthwhile again. Crowd: 6/10 // Critic: 9/10
Tumblr media
Sense and Sensibility: The Screenplay and Diaries by Emma Thompson (1995)
Sense and Sensibility is not just one of my favorite Jane Austen adaptations—it’s one of my all-time favorite films. One of the co-hosts of one of my favorite podcasts has raved many-a-time about Emma Thompson’s journals from the making of film, so it was only a matter of time before I read them myself. Witty, informative, and all-around lovely, Thompson’s journals are an excellent insight into the filmmaking process and how novels are adapted.
Also in January…
I reviewed the new-ish documentary Flannery for ZekeFilm, which is all about the writer Flannery O’Connor and feels a little like going back to high school English class.
In addition to the Lethal Weapon and Thin Man series, I rewatched all of the X-Men series this month. You can see everything I am watching on Letterboxd, including favorites I love returning to (i.e. X-Men: Days of Future Past) and the movies I try that don’t make my monthly recommendations (i.e. The Wolverine).

   ⟶   who doesn’t love hugh grant?
30+ YEAR OLDS BASED ON HUGH GRANT'S FILMOGRAPHY
this is a really ridiculously simple but fun request for a group of 30+ year old friends based off of....hugh grant's filmography. i've capped it at eight, and you’re welcome to switch out a film if you have one you prefer!
basically they all have personalities based off of the films below and they all are friends because they all have worked/currently work on the same street in santa flora’s downtown. they met working on it with most of the workplaces right beside each other. so they all swap free things and meet for lunches and then get plastered together when they are off!!! its a lot of fun for this early 30s crew okay.
i have magnolia woods (32, margot robbie) and she works as a pilates instructor! but some other options are: a bookstore, a cafe, a dispensary, a law firm, a tech business, a sandwich shop, a ups store, marketing firms in downtown, anything really.
below you’ll find the different films + personalities to go with them!
INSPIRED BY LOVE ACTUALLY
perpetually single but just really wants to be cuffed regardless of it. obsessed with christmas and a hopeful romantic when it comes down to it, probably the first to suggest a romcom to watch. hopeful!
alistair “cheese” goode 34 • high school teacher • oliver jackson cohen played by amanda
INSPIRED BY ABOUT A BOY
lowkey a piece of shit. perpetual liar and has gotten really good at it. an absolute “womanizer” and overly confident despite the fact everybody tells them they really shouldn’t be. lazy!!! and probably a nanny for a living [a male nanny would be ace for this].
richard “richie” sommers 36 • nanny • ben barnes played by cassibod
INSPIRED BY TWO WEEKS NOTICE
very wealthy but also very indecisive. can be an asshole but does it unknowingly because they are a “child” when it comes down to things. only has a job because it’s a “fun addition to their life” and they are bored. likely has no idea how to do anything without somebody’s help.
first last name 30+ • job • dakota johnson played by mc
INSPIRED BY FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL
perpetually late and lives in a tiny place. cannot hold down a job for the life of her and has gotten really good at lying on her resume. would rather die than work in an office every single day. a serial dater that is currently dealing with multiple of their exes getting married and doesn’t know what to do about it.
magnolia “maggie” woods 32 • pilates instructor (at the moment) • margot robbie played by liv
INSPIRED BY NOTTING HILL
considers themself painfully average and has never had a significant other in their whole life. but!! they would probably be very romantic if they got the chance. very nose in a book type of person that smashes trivia out of the park.
first last name 30+ • job • richard madden played by alyx
INSPIRED BY BRIDGET JONES
she's a disaster in the sense that her life just is falling apart at the seems -- she can never hold onto a relationship because she either gives too much or not enough and it's always to the wrong person. desperately in need of her mr/s darcy.
marnie finch 30+ • BUDtender • phoebe tonkin played by am
INSPIRED BY SENSE AND SENSIBILITY
very sweet and slightly poor but it has never bothered them. they know their worth without needing money for it. a hopeless romantic but also a very hard worker. believes in the good of everybody and what is “sensible” to do.
josephine “josie” larson 33 • teacher • jenna coleman played by cara
INSPIRED BY MUSIC AND LYRICS
was a child prodigy of sorts but now is lost and has no idea what they are doing. desperate for any sort of approval from anybody. very earnest though, and puts care into the things they do even if they aren’t happy with them. struggles with their self confidence.
milo weiss  32 • florist • aaron taylor-johnson played by zoe

Netflix Acquires Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Venice-Bound ‘The Lost Daughter’ In Deal With Endeavor Content
EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has taken remaining worldwide territories including in the U.S. on Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut The Lost Daughter. Starring Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Dakota Johnson, Peter Sarsgaard and Paul Mescal, the drama is set to world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival next month. The deal was negotiated by Endeavor Content and includes most major markets.
Oscar nominee Gyllenhaal also produced the project and adapted the script that’s based on the eponymous 2006 novel by Elena Ferrante. The story follows a woman whose beach vacation takes a dark turn when she begins to confront the troubles of her past.
