Park Mae Yi

Seongyeom probably thought Mae Yi being asexual meant that she wouldn’t want to be in a romantic relationship. She identifies as asexual but she’s not aromantic. She is comfortable with romance and dating someone. She represents a wide range of the spectrum. Asexuality doesn’t mean just one thing. Sexuality is complex and personal and is different for everyone.

It stuck out to me that when they first met Ji Hyun asked Mae Yi if she was okay with dating men. Even though he fell in love with her at first sight he didn’t automatically assume that she would be straight or that she’d date him. He was considerate of her feelings and made her feel safe before he even knew her.

#RUNONWEEK Day One: Emotional Support Character of Choice

Ki Seon-gyeom.

Not your usual male lead. He is a bit introverted, quirky, unfailingly polite with a strong moral code. He never hesitates before apologizing. It was beautiful to watch him grow out of his shell during the show - from someone who took the path of least resistance and did not get very involved with those around him (his friend had been dating the same girl for 10 years and he had no idea!) to taking charge of his life, learning to love himself, and forming deeper bonds with all those around him. Still waters run deep and you can certainly sense that with Seon-gyeom.

One of my favourite scenes is when he finds MJ in the hospital and he asks her what she needs. She complains that the ladies beside her won’t stop talking to her. So instead of telling the old ladies to be quiet, he gets their attention to himself and drawns them away from MJ, making everyone happy.

I love this character. I love his relationship with Mi-joo. How respectful he is of her space. How he admires her confidence and independence. But that is for another post lol

My Run On Vocab List

Hey! So I'm an A2 level Korean lever, which means I'm not fluent yet. If you see any mistakes, feel free to let me know! This is a list of words and sentences I thought to be easy for me to understand. I was going to keep it to myself, but it might be useful for someone, so here it goes!

Random Words

알쓰 - 알코올 쓰레기, or alcohol trash. It means someone who can't drink alcohol well. font

관종 - attention seeker. font

실수 - mistake. font

꿀 - honey. font

자만추 - so, as for this word, the kdrama describes it as meeting someone accidentaly. there`s even a scene when they meet two characters by coincidence and they say "자만추". however, this and others font describe as a slang for "meeting your soulmate naturally, not by arranged dates", which i guess it's somehow the same. looks like an abreviation of 자연스러운 만남 추구.

답답하다 - frustating. font

용기 - courage. font

예술 - art. font

헤어지다 - to break up. font

갑자기 - suddenly. font

배부르다 - to be full, stuffed. opposite of 배고프다. font

자판기 - vending machine. font

동거인 - a roommate or housemate. font

대표님 - if I understood correctly, the top representative of a company. font 1 font 2

모레 - the day after tomorrow. font
