My mother got me a St. Michael (the archangel) medallion. But little does she know that I'm going to make it protective with Norse magick. Checkmate bc witchcraft is creative, no matter the image you are intending to be a vessel.

What started as a semi pleasant conversation has moved quickly into a very heated argument today quite unexpectedly. Attempting to nullify the verbal aggression seems pointless no matter what tactics you employ to calm the situation down. It is not a good idea to stand your ground today as the likelihood that it will progress into a physical altercation is very real if you are not careful. The only saving grace in retaining your dignity is to drop the issue and walk away.

I should really start making these again. Only sold a few in my brief stint on etsy, but just making them was so much fun.

Rune Art: Heidi Richardson
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A collection of rune art by HEIDI RICHARDSON.
The collection was posted originally on Tumblr via her blog: @mystrangebones but combined by gifts-of-heimdall-runes for this blog entry.
With regret, neither Ehwaz nor Laguz were shared by Heidi to complete this collection.

For the past couple of years, I have pulled a rune and a tarot card for every month at the beginning of the year. I've used these foretellings to help me map out my year ahead both in the mundane and the magical worlds. It's proved fruitful for me so far but this year I would like to take it a step further.
A major goal for the year is to return to these notes at the end of each month and write a bit reflecting on how they showed up in my life personally and in the world at large. I am hoping to get a deeper understanding of the ways that the runes and tarot interact with each other and also what they mean to me.

Good morning! The rune for this week is Gebo.
Gebo is the rune of partnership, giving, equal exchange, generosity, honor, love, and self-sacrifice. Gebo is a partnership rune, so a partnership may be on the horizon (this could mean romantic relationship, business partnership, or a collaboration of some kind) or there could be shifts in a current partnership. Changes in a contract could reflect a fairer, more equal exchange. Gebo can also indicate a gift in all its forms, including a talent or spiritual gift. Some of you may be giving or receiving a gift in the next seven days. This could include a physical or monetary gift. This could also mean a talent or spiritual gift coming to light.

Hagging Out December: Twelfth Night for the Wild Hunt
For several years now I have honoured the Wild Hunt - the fierce spirits who hunt evildoers across the worlds. In my practice I consider Wōden as leader of the Hunt, and with Him at their head they ride throughout the dark half of the year, with their activity reaching a head during the liminal time between the Winter Solstice and Twelfth Night.
During this time I try to observe nightly devotionals and contemplation, culminating in ritual on Twelfth Night itself.
This year I offered loose-leaf berry and rosebud tea, its redness recalling the blood of the Hunt's prey. Offerings to the Hunt are both propitiatory, to encourage them to leave me and mine unharmed, and in thanks for the work they do to punish and destroy evil.
As part of my ritual, I recited rounds of my Wōden prayer beads, nine times nine heiti of the Old Man. This led me into trance and deep communion with Him and with the spirits of the Hunt. It also seemed an auspicious time both for some rune-casting divination for the year ahead, and for a spot of old-fashioned blasting with the aid of my blackthorn athame.
This calls to an end both the time of the Hunt's greatest activity, and the most important phase of my two-month Gēol season.
[With thanks to @graveyarddirt for running Hagging Out monthly.]

The god Heimdall reaches out for your attention in the three runes that have surfaces today within his family group. His quiet demeanour cautions you that it is not the right moment to instigate changes to any pre-planned events happening today. It is far better to focus on your contribution on what is already in place in making this gathering into a day of great delight and happiness rather than focusing on improving insignificant elements that don’t really in the long run matter to your enjoyment.

RUNE READINGS ARE OPEN
I'm currently in a rough financial situation, so I'll be opening up Five Slots for rune readings! Once I finish the first bunch, I'll possibly open them back up again. I'll have whether or not the readings are open in my blog title/description.
~*~*~STEPS AND RULES~*~*~
To claim a slot, simply send me an ask in my inbox with the information requested below, as well as the amount you're intending to pay. Make sure you have read all the rules. I have anon turned off, but if you do not want the reading public, just let me know in the message.
Readings may take a minimum of 1-5 days to get to depending on the detail of all the readings I get.
I will let you know if your slot has been claimed and I will send you a message back with the link to my payment info. Once I've let you know you're on my list, please be patient and do not spam/consistently message asking about the reading. I want to take time to make sure the readings are accurate and not rushed. Please do not send your question in DM's, I will just direct you to my inbox.
1.) In order to do the reading, I need the following info: *Your Name/Initials *Name and initials of any others involved in the reading *Your pronouns and the pronouns of any others involved *Any info regarding your question that you're willing to share. (Please be as specific as possible. Vague questions result in vague answers. The more open ended the question, the easier it will be to interpret. Try to avoid yes/no questions.) *What payment method works best out of Venmo, CashApp or Paypal
2) I will not be doing any readings for the following subjects: *Love Readings/Does (name) have a crush on me? *Medical, Financial or Legal Questions *Future partner/spouse readings (I reserve the right to deny any reading request if I am uncomfortable with the subject matter.)
3.) These readings are on a first come, first serve basis. If all of the requirements are not met, I will send your ask back asking for adjustments. Even if you have met all the requirements I've asked for, it does not guarantee you a spot. Please be respectful if I'm unable to do your reading.
4.) Send me a 🌸 emoji with your ask so I know you've read all my rules.
5.) Respect my gender identity and pronouns. I am nonbinary and transmasc, and I use they/he pronouns. Bigots, T*RFS, and F*lkists will automatically be blocked.
Feedback is GREATLY appreciated, and if you're open to a discussion afterward about what resonated/didn't resonate, or about the reading itself, I'm happy to chat!
Thank you in advance, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Skadi and Hel have been supporting me a lot lately, answering my questions and bringing my attention to opportunities. Yesterday I was given the Othala rune.
I have a tricky time with this rune (along with Sowilo) because while they are generally positive in meaning, they were used extensively in WW2 by the Nazi party. They became symbols of fear and hate, and are still used this way by some.
I still use runes and go by their meanings, but I must be conscious about how these runes have been used and to be respectful of my own usage of them. As Heathens, it’s important to be self aware and to be actively inclusive and actively anti-racist.

I created a rune website
I have tried to write it from a modern Heathen approach, while still being based on actually historical information. It is split into two main parts:
The main part is my commentary on the Old English Rune Poem, and my attempts to contextualise the verses and interpret them in ways that can be meaningful today.
The other part gives a small bit of general background information about the runes and the poem, as well as talking through the history of runic divination and its Modern and largely racist roots (this is mostly based on the hard work by @thorraborinn, @mannazandwyrd and @obligate-rebel), and actual historic uses of runes in magic. I have also included some of my ideas about using runes for both divination and magic today (that isn’t just taken from Thorsson/List).
I have tried to take a somewhat different approach to what you find in most metaphysical sites/books you can get about runes today. I hope some of you find it useful!
