a/n: when I tell you I'm like so seriously embarrassed about posting this LMAOJAKSJW I'm gonna post this once pretend I never did it and hide in my other acc just you wait-- welp, this is a very small scenario for my oc x canon, supposed to be the vignette story of the p.e. clothes for my oc. I understand that this kinda stuff is not everyone's cup of tea so if you're not into that pls just walk away ty. Also, you may change my oc's name for yours if you wish to read this as a reader x ruggie fic, I don't care much if I'm being honest

Daisy sighed as she sat down on a bench, trying to catch her breath. Savannaclaw's morning training was no joke, it was way more intense than she could ever imagine… but then again, if they were the top of their school when it comes to Spelldrive — well, at least second to Diasomnia — then she guessed it shouldn't be a surprise. She grabbed a water bottle and drank most of it in practically one go, she was exhausted, and she still needed to get that picture for Azul… today was gonna be rough.

"You're already tired?" Ruggie's voice popped out of nowhere, making Daisy flinch at the sudden sound. She lifted her head and saw the beastman standing in front of her, his head tilted with a smirk on his face.

Daisy huffed as she frowned. "I'm not used to this training, you know?" She glanced at his arm for a second, her expression softening a bit. "...is your arm ok?"

"You're such a worrywart, I'm fine." Ruggie groaned, instinctively caressing his arm. "You should worry more about yourself, you know? You have a contract with Azul."

Daisy became quiet after that. It was no use trying to voice her worry for Ruggie's wellbeing, ever since Leona's overblot she has been checking up on him, worried about his health, but all she got was a groan and a 'worry about yourself, prefect, I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself'. It was frustrating, but there was nothing she could do about it.

Ruggie sat down on the bench, taking her bottle from her hand despite her complaints and drinking from it. She sighed in defeat.

"So? You have a plan?"

"About my contract?" She thought for a second after he nodded. "Well, I'm… not really sure. I'm just gonna try and go to the museum, see how things are and if I get lucky I'll be able to get the picture."

Ruggie hummed but didn't say anything, so it became quiet between them, the only sounds being the students walking and talking occasionally, Grim almost picking up a fight with Leona who promptly ignored him, and Jack who sighed at the monster.

Daisy shifted her gaze to the side, taking a look at the guy sitting beside her. Ruggie was… annoying, she thought; he was self centered and seemed to know exactly what buttons to push to get on her nerves, yet… she found him intriguing. He tended to Leona and did exactly as he was told, but only if he could get something in return, he wasn't one for blind trust but, in a weird way, he seemed to really do trust Leona and his plan — well… until the lion beastman gave up, that is. He was hurt but he actively avoided getting help from anyone, it was almost as if he didn't believe that people would want to help him; he was annoying and had a way to piss her off, but he seemed to be way softer than he said he was, at least that's what she could gather by observing him for the past few days.

His ears were big, bigger than Leona's, rounder than Jack's… his eyes were a beautiful blue color and she noticed he had freckles all over his face; he was smaller and skinnier compared to the others in his dorm, but he was just as capable of handling himself during Spelldrive practices;

Daisy glanced at his lips for a moment, recalling his cheeky smile and how his eyes tended to smile together with it. It usually meant he was messing with her but… strangely enough, she couldn't help but think his smile was really pleasant.

"Are you done checking me out, prefect?"

Daisy's cheeks went red upon realizing he noticed her stare. The girl cleared her throat and looked away, scratching her neck, nervously.

"I wasn't checking you out, I was just- I was thinking." Well… she wasn't exactly lying, she was thinking.

"Sure you were." He teased, turning to look at her. "What were you thinking of? I saw you staring at my lips."

"I wasn't- I wasn't doing it on purpose, and I wasn't thinking anything like that." Daisy quickly said, trying to defend herself.

At that, Ruggie hummed and tilted his head, a smirk forming onto his features. "Like what?"

Gosh, he was insufferable.

Daisy decided she wouldn't answer. She couldn't let him get on her nerves.

"You just gonna ignore me now? Aw, you hurt me like that, Daisy."

"You really do enjoy annoying me, huh."

"Your expressions are priceless, so yeah." Ruggie laughed that signature laugh of his and despite the situation, Daisy felt the urge to laugh with him… was he using his spell on her or something? Ruggie seemed to catch the very small smile she was trying to contain, and smirked at her mischievously. "Is that a smile I see? Did I make you smile?"

"No." Daisy tried to contain herself, clearing her throat and covering her mouth.

"Worrying about me, staring at me, and now smiling at my teasing… you know, if I didn't know any better-" he paused, as if taking delight in her curious expression. "-I'd think you have a crush on me."

"A crush? On you?" Her eyes widened in pure shock, now letting a small, shocked and neevous chuckle escape. "Well, I'm all for believing in your dreams so if that's what you're dreaming of, go for it." She rolled her eyes, the smile being unable to contain at this point.

Truly, she was starting to question what was the matter with herself. Part of her was annoyed at his teasing and at the insinuation he just made, but another — a part that seemed to grow each day she spent in Ruggie's presence — seemed to weirdly enjoy it, like having him try to pick on her was fun somehow, like hearing his laugh was worth the frustration he made her feel.

Ruggie chuckled, and Daisy felt her ears turn pink. There it was, the confirmation that she truly was going crazy.

They both heard Leona call for the last training session, though he himself seemed to want it all to be over already. Both of them got up and Ruggie continued on his training as if their exchange never happened, and Daisy couldn't help but be a bit bothered by it.

There was nothing she could do though, not right now at least.

Oh how I adore you. You who works tirelessly. You who grins at most anything. You who has the most joyous outlook on the future, yet whose heart seems to ache at the thought. Constantly searching for an opportunity, something to fuel you, something to sink your teeth into. You who moves unnoticed by most, stripping them of their valued items. I wish I might, I wish I may, I wish upon the guiding north star far above in the sky, that you would look my way. I want to be what you're looking for. Your next opportunity. Your future. I could give you the world, priceless jewels, all the food you need, anything you could ever want. If only you looked my way. Even if you would only view me then as a way to quick cash and a comfortable life. If it is you, I do not mind you using me. Robbing me nigh blind as I let you steal even my precious frozen heart and light it's very core on fire.

Oh how I ache, how I wish for you to sink your teeth into my very soul. I crave to shield you. Shield you from the cold harsh blizzards of my homeland as I hold you under the warm down feather blanket sat by a fire. Shield you from praying eyes that may catch you when you steal, cover you when you do get caught. I wish to feed, to shield, to be used, to care, to love. A little Flynn x Rapunzel fic for @midnightmah07's OC Daisy x Ruggie. I hope yall enjoy!! <3

The Lantern Festival

The day was crisp and new as two guests rolled out from the forest, crossing the arched stone bridge with a guard horse in tow into the opened gates of the kingdom. For one of the two seemed excited to be here, while the other seemed to be a bit grumpy at the fact that he had returned to the kingdom he was wanted in. For this was no ordinary kingdom, for it had spectacular sights and many things to do for today was the festival of lanterns!

Also known as; The Lost Princess' Birthday.

For the King and Queen will light the first lantern in hopes of their precious post princess to return to them, and who was this princess, you may ask? Her name was Lady Eléa, with golden hair like the sun, freckles upon her face and the most dazzling eyes ever. Unfortunately, they had no image of how their daughter would look now, for she was kidnapped as a child by an evil witch only to hope and pray that their precious princess will see the lanterns and return home one day…

"Ruggie! Come on! You're slowing us down!" Daisy exclaimed out softly in a teasing manner, reaching forward to grab the man's hands and pulled him towards the crowded marketplace. The hyena could only blush as his ears folded backwards in embarrassment as he was pulled to the rows of vendors, hoping that no one would notice the thief that stole the princess' tiara. Daisy was a polite, but excitable person, this having been the first time she was ever taken out from her tower to finally go see the lights; but this time, she wasn't watching them from her window.

Baked goodies and colorful tapestries were out and about within the festive market, and Daisy's attention was caught everywhere. Pulling out the little bit of pocket money that she had taken from her stepmother, which was technically her 'allowance' for purchasing things from her mother for her mother to go grab them from the market or supplies to make said item before gifting it to Daisy. Yet, it seemed like Ruggie was already on it as he pulled out some leftover change from one of his heists and as much as he hated seeing it go, he liked seeing a certain someone smile because of his genuine kindness.

"Shishishishishi… I got you this, Daisy." Ruggie stated out as he held out a piece of clothes with the symbol of the kingdom on it; a decorative sun that shines brightly upon the purple cloth. "I thought it would be a nice token to remember today." Ruggie finished as he looked over at Daisy with a small smirk on his face, grateful that no one was paying them any attention within the crowded market. Daisy could only smile as she held the cloth close to her before nodding her head slightly, she would keep this token forever once she had returned back to her tower; as she had promised within the deal. Yet, part of her wished he would take back the deal so that they could stay together for a bit longer, at least.

"Thank you Ruggie, the gift is perfect." Daisy spoke out sweetly to the hyena, causing him to clear his throat slightly. A hand reached up to rub the back of his neck as he seemed to smile while looking away, a small 'shishishi' coming from him as he seemed a bit sheepish to have been gifting something so simple to the young woman. After all, he promised to take her home after this but what's a few more hours… Maybe days… Months? Forever? He couldn't decide on which one he wanted more at the moment.

Cheers and joyful instruments fanned out within the street as the two continued onwards through the market. Daisy had bought some donuts that Ruggie had insisted that they got just because he wanted to share that delight with Daisy. As she watched the merry band play their music, a thump in her feet as she began to dance around the merry crowd began to gather, clapping their hands together to the happy young woman who began to slowly drag someone in each time. Then lastly was Ruggie.

Oh, how he could not dance but attempted it embarrassedly with Daisy, for he couldn't resist her pretty smile shining up at him.

It felt like hours that the two danced, getting ever so closer to each other that Ruggie could've sworn that their lips accidentally brushed into each other when they had bumped into another dancing couple. Having flung some apologies, the hyena being the most embarrassed out of it all, Daisy could only giggle as she would've handed him a donut from the bag within her satchel. A small token to cheer him up.

"To the boasts!!" A few people shouted out, screams of joy ripping through the crowd as Ruggie grasped Daisy's elbow ever so gently, bringing her towards one of the docks, having passed a mural of the lost princess with the king and queen upon it. Ruggie was gentle as he helped Daisy into the smaller boat that was secluded from the other boats as he pushed off and began to row the boat into the setting sun. Daisy could only look at the surroundings and the sunset in awe as she could only pray to let this moment last forever. Her and this mysterious thief, Ruggie.

"I wanted to show you something." Ruggie would've stated out, his face a little pink from all the rowing and perhaps what he was about to show to Daisy within this moment. The air felt intimate even as the sun kissed the horizon, leaving its warmth behind upon the shining waters around them. Daisy could only tilt her head in confusion as she gave Ruggie a sheepish smile. Without a moment's pause, he pulled out a beautiful flower and held it out to her. For this flower resembled the sun itself, a beautiful lily that seemed ever as bright as the sun itself.

"Oh Ruggie. Thank you!" Daisy would've murmured out happily, as if her voice was scared to break this intimate air they found themselves in as the sun continued to set over the horizon. Daisy snitched the flower slightly, for it smelt of the earth and as warm as the sun. What type of sorcery had he pulled to get such a beautiful flower? She didn't know but by the look on Ruggies's face at seeing Daisy's happy expression of getting the precious treasure, whatever it cost (or technically what danger he put himself in to steal it) was worth it.

"I wanted to give this to you as well. I know I have been holding back on you but… And I know our deal as well but, I just wanted to give it back." Daisy blurted out as she pulled out the crown from her bag, offering it back to Ruggie. Now, Ruggie would've at any time taken the chance to steal it and dip, especially when she was offering it back graciously to him without knowing the effects of what might happen afterwards. Yet, Ruggie felt changed as he reached forward and pushed the tiara down, looking ever so sweetly at Daisy.

"It doesn't matter anymore. I'm just glad to be here with you, Daisy. Celebrating your birthday under the stars with you…" As Ruggie leaned closer to Daisy, and she leaned in too. As their lips were about to connect, something bright was sparkling within the now night sky, filled with sparkling stars above them but this was much more warmer. A lantern! The first lantern! Standing up abruptly, rocking the boat ever so slightly which threw off Ruggie, he could only stare up at Daisy in shock before his gaze followed hers to the bright sea of lanterns now filling the sky around them.

The water's surface did wonders of reflecting the lanterns, as if they were in one big mirror as they were the only two who seemed to be in the world right now. Daisy couldn't help herself as he leaned on the side of the boat, watching the lanterns around them float as Ruggie's hand went to her back to prevent her from falling into the cold water. This look of awe, this look of amazement upon Daisy's face caused Ruggie's heart to convulse and beat even harder. He felt his cheeks warming up even more as he looked at the woman on the boat with him before clearing his throat slightly.

Daisy's gaze was torn away from the lanterns around them, turning to Ruggie who was assembling two lanterns for the both of them but seeming to struggle ever so slightly. Daisy could only giggle at his misfortune as she reached forward to help him out slightly to help build up the lanterns.

All at once, everything looks different. Now that I see you.

Ruggie looked up towards Daisy who had assembled the last little bit of the lantern, as if he were looking through brand new eyes; everything had changed around them. He could feel his heartbeat pounding against his chest as they raised their own lanterns up into the sky yet he could only keep his gaze upon her. For her eyes held the twinkling lights of the lanterns and the stars within them, her smile was just as bright as the sun, and she smell was just as crisp as if biting into a farm fresh apple.

Is this love?

"Daisy… I…" Ruggie started as he continued to stare at her, only for her gaze to drop down to meet his. Her gaze finally tearing away from the lit up sky as she smiled at him ever so sweetly. Lanterns drifting amongst them, as if playful wisps egging Ruggie even closer. The lily within Daisy's hair shining just as bright as the lanterns surrounding them. Ruggie couldn't help himself anymore against such a patient, pretty woman.

"I love you." Ruggie whispered out, his heart pouring out for Daisy to see as Daisy could only smile, reaching forward to grasp his hand as she leaned in to softly kiss Ruggie. Truly, things have changed for both of them.

Now that I see you.

Ruggie's BirthdayBash!

Shiki's gift?

After an interview that went from melancholic to comedic to nostalgic (in that order) and learning of Ruggie's birthday philosophy that goes something like:

" Celebrate others birthday in hopes of getting lots of even better stuff on yours!"

Honestly, Shiki couldn't judge. If possible she would do the same but getting gifts to every student and pleasing them at the same time…

" Sounds more expensive than intellectually and emotionally draining, I could never give something without thought. Not to mention I suck at handmaid stuff."

" But you have to admit it's a nice scheme~ Grim-sama shall make the most of everyone's festivities for when my time comes! And you are joining Shiki, I want the double of tuna cans on my Bash!"

"But I just said I'm bad with these stuff…"

They discuss as the others dig in some doughnuts, mostly Ruggie though. How jelly~.

Anyways after that and hearing about last year's baseball cake throw from Jade that surprisingly didn't put Ruggie into a coma or with any cranial traumatism (which I'm sure the average human would get), I, Shiki Butterfly, was at a loss.

" I should have done a more thorough research but I wasn't expecting to get excited over another Bash right after Vil's. Which maybe I wasn't as festive as I should have been…"

Is it because Ruggie is a simple sophomore instead of a freshman? He is younger than Vil and so like a little brother? I never had any siblings, wondering how that works.

"Oi, Shiki! Can we eat something now?"

"Ah, sure. I…I guess I'll save my gift for the after party or something."

" Hmm…Don't tell anyone else I said this but…they are cool. And probably practical enough so stop fretting and let's dig in!"

I chuckle at Grim's insistence and gluttony. Hopefully there are still doughnuts left and not just cronuts. Although if those have European influences they might feel nice~.

" Yo! Anything left for the interviewer this year?"

" There's enough for a whole neighborhood, he hehe! But you two better start taking eating what you can get your hands on, don't wanna the vultures to steal everything~"

" And who would these vultures be? The creepy twins?"

Jade and Floyd eerily smile as if ignoring that comment.

We better lock our doors tonight.

I take a handful and shove one in Grim's mouth.

" If I end up as shark bait under the sea, I'm letting them swallow you first."

"Glaghhhmph!!"

It's early evening. A few more gifts were open, the last bits of food saved for later and the venue is thinning out. Savanaclaw is not as inviting as Pomefiore, who would have guessed.

" So, what are waiting for? Thanks for coming and all, but I'm kicking you out once my nap time arrives."

" L-Leona-senpai! You surprised me, oh my…"

I put a hand on my chest, Leona always managed to put me on edge, even if he could be cute when he gets flustered.

" Ah, well… I guess I'm on…whatchamacallit? Crossroads! Ya. That."

" Well, you better chose one. Tomorrow comes soon and by then it would be awkward to offer any gift. Although not unheard of…"

Leona adds with a knowing smug, characteristic of him. I'm aware he is aware which makes me feel like speaking on the same level would be more efficient and welcomed.

"Wouldn't want to beat around the bush, would we?"

" Did you say something?"

" Nothing too important. I just… feel this might be worthless in comparison. I hate dissappointing."

" So you never think for yourself? I might not be the best person to talk to about meeting expectations but you won't find a better dissapointment. Do not quote me on that. Dissapointing would be never giving that and have wasted money on something you found to be precious one way or another. Wasting resources cuz you are being selfish is actually pretty sad to be honest. You are basically giving yourself to the jaws of a beast."

" … when you put it like that-"

Leona yawns and stretches.

" This conversation just started and I'm already bored to death. I'm taking my nap half an hour earlier after all. So skedaddle with whatever you have to do."

And with that he turns his back waving me off as he walks away.

" I wonder if someday we'll be able to have a normal casual conversation."

I ponder in a meek voice.

" Oii~ Shiki-kun you almost forgot your pet!"

" P-pet?! My name is Master Grim and that's my henchman-"

" Ya ya, been there heard that. Yosh! "

He ends by throwing Grim with a Spelldriver expertise into my outstretched arms. To which I clumsily manage to use to catch the demon cat thing.

" Hey! What's with throwing me around…"

Grim almost seems teary eyes. He is probably too tired to argue back.

" Go to sleep Grim, I'll call you to dinner when we go back to Ramshackle. Thanks Ruggie. Ah… omedeto! It's…never too much I guess."

" Apreciated. Ya know, you should probably hang out more with your Heartslabyul friends, they seem social enough. I mean, because you are socially awkward, you are aware right? "

Ruggie slowly starts doubting his own words but still delivers them with a nonchalance unique to him.

" I would but, between us? I'm afraid I would lose brain matter the longer I am around them!"

We both laugh.

" Uhm, before you go! Or before the celebrations end… here. It's my gift. It's small but I found it to be perfect at the time. I feel like you could use them."

I nervously extend a hand after fishing for the long yet slim box on my backpack. With a cute purple ribbon but otherwise a yellow animal themed wrapper. The childish looking ones.

Ruggie looks at me slightly surprised by my abruptness and then looks at the box, carefully taking it out of my hand. He starts shaking it close to one of his giant ears, but not too close just in case.

" Thanks! I did notice I couldn't find one of yours in the pile but I thought it could have been my mistake or…you simply didn't plan much since you were responsible for the interview. Hmm… this sure feels light and there's a few thund sounds but they are so soft. I wonder what's inside! "

He continues playing the guessing game, inspecting the box from side to side, smelling it which looked less weird than I thought it might.

" I'm afraid you'll never guess until you actually open it. Just do it quick though I dont like the sound or look of destroyed paperwrap, haha…"

I laugh nervously scratching left arm.

" Then I guess I'll try to be careful. Usually the kids back home don't even take one single breath before ripping stuff with how impatient they are."

" Or excited?"

" Exactly! Cute cheetahs by the way."

He adds, using his claw to carefully cut the wrapper, full of cartoonist cheetahs.

" Yah, I couldn't find hyenas. Plus cheetahs are my…second or maybe first favourite animal!"

" I was hoping I could find an hyena type person for once…"

" When it comes to mammals of the savana? I gained a certain admiration for hyenas, not gonna lie. Specially after watching that movie based on the other Great Seven."

" Ah, the Lion from Royal Sword Academy one? Not a bad movie although the story has a few big differences from our version. It's so weird."

" I find it incredible! T-that there are two sides of the story. I once read a book like that about the… Beautiful Queen! That's her title, I always forget these~ And then the Maleficent movie became a hit and part of the historical canon which makes you see the villain as more than just… an evil fairy who threw a tantrum because no one wanted to invite her, as rude as that is."

" The Thorn Fairy? You sure are bold talking about such a figure so nonchalantly. You should share more about your…world or whatever someday. Ah! Got it. Do you want the wrapper? "

He offers the neat paper and my heart jumps of happiness. He took such good care of it! I'm honestly glad and surprised by how neat it looks.

" Sure. Thanks. Open it!"

" Alright, alright, what's the hurry- "

" Oi, is that herbivore still here?! "

Comes to booming, tired voice of Leona which prompts Ruggie to open the box as he nods at me in sudden understanding.

" Oh. These are…badges? "

He inquires picking two of the patches curiously. A glaced doughnuts one and one of a yellow heart that says 'Back off'.

" Velvet patches actually! Ahm…I never worked with then closely but I used to see then a lot back in middle school. They won't probably be useful when mending something like clothes but they will hide the mending on jackets, maybe some shirts and if course backpacks~! And in a cool way cuz they'll know the stuff is mended and you hust have an awesome patch covering it! Like you know…rebels and maverick like people, those who fight the system or don't care about what ithers think and that just makes them cooler… I'm rambling!"

" …I dunno what maverick means but these are neat! Thank you."

" Y-you actually like them?!"

" Of course, any gift is a good gift as long as it isn't spoiled food. It's not valuables but it's something I will certainly use. What do you think those on my varsity jacket are?! They are the originals but it took some work putting them back in place~ "

He smirks and then sighs wistfully at the memory.

I just smile, feeling more relaxed after giving his gift.

" I'll have to check them better tomorrow. Which should I use first…? "

" Sure. I better go anyways…if Grim managed to fall asleep, I'm sure Leona already is and won't be happy if we are still here. Have a great rest of the day Ruggie-senpai!"

Leona grumbles, still half awake leaning in the wall closest to the exit of Ruggie's den.

" I knew you would still be awake Leona-senpai~ Don't be too harsh now. Kantokusei has a hard time connecting with people. They are insightful though… they also don't have the best cunning of minds but you'll learn they have a certain sly attribute to them. That's how she is able to socialize in the end."

" Are any of those pronouns correct? "

" Here I am trying to 'sing praises' about the subject of our conversation and you ask that. Sure, she is fine with 'they'. People tend to forget since this is a boy's college so she doesn't bother."

" I simply got an headache from all the changes. Hmph. I knew she had something good to give you. She worries too much. Good night Ruggie, try not making too much noise."

So Leona decides to lay right there. In Ruggie's carpet.

" Wah-?! B-but we still didn't have dinner yet!"

" Too loud…"

Leona growls before rolling on his side.

This is rlly just a silly thought about Faith and Ruggie

As fingers interlocked together Ruggie became panicked, this would be his first kiss.

"Ruggie? Are you okay?" Faith looked at him, pausing right before their lips touched. She felt her face heating up as he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

"Yeah, don't worry too much..." Ruggie lead forward. He finally closed his eyes, Jack might've been right about going with the flow. But this was something new, a new experience. He squeezed Faith's hand as he finally planted the kiss on her lips, feeling the cold piercing on her bottom lip.

Faith felt her face heat up, her face frozen in shock and happiness.

So this is what love feels like?

"Waited All Night..."

Prompt - NRC is in upheaval. A video of Yuu singing a song has been circling around the school about her being "bewitched," and everyone is trying to figure out by who. Yuu is embarrassed and upset about her private song being the subject of gossip, so she decides to hide from everyone only for her crush to find her and reveal he has been "bewitched," by her...

Leona hated the fact that he couldn't get to Yuu. He tried calling her but she didn't answer, he tried going to Ramshackle but the ghost kept him out, and when she didn't show to any of her classes or to clubs that is when his patience broke. He knew the Yuu had feelings for him and was waiting for the right time. When the song came out, he knew the time was now and he had to get her out of the stampped of gossip.

He was in an irritable mood for most of the day and by the end of it, Ruggie was ready to snap Leona's neck. Anytime Leona heard her name or the song or head and tail of the betting pot, he would snap at the closes person to him... which was often Ruggie. The last straw was the absolutely grueling Spelldrive Practice. He worked them harder than Vargas ever would and by the time it was over, half the team was crawling back to their dorms. Ruggie stayed to "help" clean up, but he had anterior motives. Leona was toweling off after showering, still scowling from hearing the guys discussing "the pot." apparently there was a lot of money on names that weren't his... but also the sum on his name was hefty. "Go." Ruggie said, done with the grumbling mess. "What?" Leona spat back. "Go. To Yuu. I'm done with this- whatever this is." Ruggie gestured to Leona, "You've been in an awful mood all day and taking it out on everyone around you. Namely ME. So Go. Talk to her. and PICK SOME DAISES. I don't care what it takes. But if you keep acting like this, I promise to make your life a living Hell if you keep all this bottled up." Leona knew Ruggie meant and could keep that promise. And that is what he needed to hear. "Fine." Leona threw his shirt on and grabbed his bag before leaving. "But If I hear your name anywhere near winning 'the pot', You're a deadman." "Wouldn't dream of it!" Ruggie chuckled as Leona made his way to Ramshackle. He had no clue what he was going to say. but he had to say something. By the time he made it to her door, Leona debated just barging in... but he knew if he did that it would make her even more scared than she already was. He knocked and called for her, when she didn't answer, decided to say what came to his heart; "Herbavior... let me it... I wanted to tell you this sooner or later but... I've been bewitched by you for a while now."

Leona was growing tired of waiting. He had to see her, he had to know how she felt, he had to fight for the one thing he was not going to let pass him by. As he reached his hand out to the know, the door opened.

On the other side, Yuu looked completely exhausted and relieved. She looked into his eyes and asked him, "You mean it? Truely?"

Leona sighed and said, "I won't repeat myself again. So listen." He placed his outstretched hand on her cheek. "I like you. Herbavior. A lot. You're my favorite pillow and one of the few people I can stand being around. But you drive me crazy at the same time." He looked into her doe eyes and closed the gap between him. "So I need to know. Your song. Do you mean it?"

Yuu placed her small hand on top of his and her eyes pricked with tears, "I wrote that song to work out my feelings... for you."

Leona never felt more relieved. He gave Yuu a smug smile and caressed her cheek with his thumb, "I knew it."

He leaned down and claimed her lips. After waiting around patiently, listening to the chatter of his classmates, and getting radio silence for a day, he finally had her in his arms. She wanted him. No one else.

When they parted he placed his forehead on hers. He finally saw her smiling and she had a blush on her cheeks that boosted Leona's ego. "I'm guessing you liked the song?"

"What do you think?" Leona chuckled, "I was hoping to hear it in person..."

That made Yuu divert her gaze and turn around, facing her back to Leona. "I-I... I would love to but... n-not yet..."

He could smell how nervous she was. Ever the smooth prince, Leona wrapped his arms around her mid-section and nestled his head into the crook of her neck. "I'm a patient lion. I'll wait as long as you need me to, herbivore."

Leona walked her to the bed and plopped down with her in his arms. And for the first time today, Leona and Yuu were able to nap.

Leona knew it would take time for her to become comfortable enough to share her voice, and thankfully he was a very patient man. The two spent a lot of time together, and after seeing Leona's arm around Yuu's shoulders all the vultures flew away and Ruggie became very happy. Leona was a lot easier to find, and Spelldrive practices became bearable again! In his opinion, Leona and Yuu getting together made Ruggie a very happy Hyena.

Over time, Yuu began to show Leona some of her songs and hum them, but nothing more. Until one evening after Spelldrive practice, Leona was lying in bed using Yuu like a pillow while she mindlessly played with his hair. The moment was peaceful, and Yuu was mindlessly humming. Leona was about to drift to sleep when he got a pleasant surprise, Yuu began to sing, "While You Were Sleeping,"

Ruggie has an uneasy feeling in his gut all day. He was doing laundry when he heard some of his dormmates talking about Yuu's song, and his heart sunk. He knew Yuu had terrible stagefright, she told him this when directly when they were both doing chores the other day. He tried to call her and text her to see if she was alright but she left him unread. He listened to her song before bed the night before, and his gut began to twist.

He wanted to check on her, but she never showed up to class or clubs. What was worse was hearing the debates. Everyone was taking their bets and at times he would hear his name in the midst:

"It HAS to be Ruggie. They are always together! I saw them doing laundry like an old married couple the other day!" One of the Savannaclaw Underclassman pointed out. This made Ruggie start to blush and his stomach feel light.

Then, a scarbia student pointed out big wall in his way that has kept him from pursuing anything beyond a friendship with Yuu: "Why would she pick Ruggie when she has Kalim asking for her hand? Why choose a pauper when she could have a prince?"

That comment has been haunting him for weeks. Ever since he realized he liked Yuu as more than a friend. He had been able to brush off the feelings for a long time, but Yuu's song and the debate around it made him confront these feelings. He spent the day in a daze and out of it. He got his work done, but he nearly ran into a pillar twice that day and almost walked square into Jack.

During Club, it got dangerous as he nearly got hit in the head with a disk if not for Leona. Leona pulled Ruggie aside and called him out. He knew Ruggie has been crushing on Yuu, it was plane to see, but he also knew Ruggie's dilemma and was sick of it.

Leona dragged Ruggie into the locker room and threw him his duffle bag, "Go."

"What?" Ruggie thought he was being thrown off the team for a second.

"Do I need to spell it out for you?" Leona was incredibly annoyed and shook his head, "G. O. to HER." Ruggie just looked flabbergasted at his dorm leader. "B-but-" "If you give me that 'I'm too poor' bullshit again, I will knock your head in." Leona pinched his brow before grabbing his wallet and throwing a bundle of cash at his friend, "You work to the bone. You deserve to be happy. She makes you happy and she is happy with you. I can smell the attraction between the two of you and if I have to hear you whine about it or make dopey eyes at her one more hades-damned time. I will lock you two in a room and make you work it out." Leona sounded threatening, but Ruggie knew this was Leona's way of 'encouragement'. The lion-beastman walked past Ruggie and opened the locker room door before looking back at him. "If you are here by the time I get back and not taking Yuu out to a nice dinner. I swear you will be doing all of the teams laundry until you do." Then stormed out. Ruggie just sat there shocked before looking down at the cash in his lap. He could only smile. Leona may not show it often, but he does care. He decided to shower really quick before leaving for Ramshackle. On his way, he tried to think of what to say, and still even after stopping by Sam to get dinner, he had no idea by the time he got to her door. He hesitated to knock but just spoke what came to him in the moment. "Yuu. I know I'm not the... best choice. I don't have anything in the prospects of money or career besides Leona's runner, but... you've bewitched me and I don't want to get out from your spell..."

Everything was still, and Ruggies heart was teetering on the edge of breaking. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe the fleeting moments were just made up in his head. Maybe Leona was lying. Maybe she loved someone else...

He was about to walk away when he heard her move towards the door and twist the handle. As the door opened, he saw Yuu look at him with tear-stained eyes and a slightly agape mouth. "Do you mean it?" Yuu asked holding the door tightly, "You... feel the same?"

Ruggie nodded. His heart was beating out of his chest, his stomach was twisting in knots, but he pushed through those things and was able to give her a small smile, "I do. Every word." He scratched the back of his head and looked at himself then at her, "I know I don't have much, but I will work hard to give you the life you deserve." He looked her in the eyes and took a deep breath before professing his feelings, "I will work hard to be with you because you make me forget my situation for a moment. When we... when we walk together, do chores together, or even just hang out, I feel like a normal student for once instead of the hyena at the end of the food chain... So please," He reaches out and takes her hand in his, squeezing it gently and smiling sweetly, "please give me a chance?"

Yuu stared at him for a moment. She looked like she was about to cry again and Ruggie was readying an apology when she surprised him. She stepped forward and placed a gentle kiss on his lips.

Ruggie tensed for a second before melting into the kiss. He dropped the bag of food in his one hand and used it to gently hold the small of her back while the other still held her hand. She adjusted the position of her hand to lace her fingers with his and deepen the kiss.

They eventually parted and she was finally smiling. "Is that a good enough answer for you?" She asked with a coy grin.

Ruggie's signature smile returned to his face for the first time today. "Shishishi, I don't know, maybe I need to hear it one more time?~" This time he leaned in and kissed her deeply. She let go of the door and looped her arms around his shoulders this time.

It didn't last as long since Yuu's stomach interrupted the kiss.

Ruggie leaned back and chuckled again, "Someone hungry? Guess I made the right call." He crouched down, picked up the bag, and held it up, "Chicken sound good?"

Yuu nodded and giggled, "Sounds delicious!"

The rest of the evening, Ruggie felt like he was dreaming. Between a nice dinner, snuggling on the couch, and her falling asleep on him as they watched some TV, he didn't want to wake up.

Ruggie has never been happier. He and Yuu spent as much time as they could together between school, work, and chores. The gossip halted quickly as Ruggie made it clear the SHE chose HIM. Leona was also a smug ass for the week after and would throw smug comments at the two in the vain of "finally," and "You're welcome," that even though they annoyed Ruggie, he was grateful to his friend.

It took a while for Yuu to feel comfortable enough to show Ruggie her notebook, and it was even longer for her to start humming. Sometimes, when they are doing laundry, dishes, or some other chores alone together, Ruggie and Yuu would hum or softly sing together to pass the time. Until one night, after a particularly rough week, Ruggies was enjoying a rare night in with Yuu. They were snuggled together on Yuu's bed, just enjoying eachothers embrace. He was enjoying the peace, and Yuu's humming turned into singing, "Dandelions"

Jack was on edge all day. From the the gossip that surrounded him to his friend (who he has had a crush on since the octanvinelle situation) disappearing and ignoring all attempts at contact, Jack felt cornered all day. Anytime someone brought up Yuu's song or the bet going on, Jack's hair would stand on end and he would get tense. Epel, Ruggie, and Leona all knew Jack had a huge crush on Yuu for a while and the former two would ask him if he was alright and check in on him all day which only proceeded to annoy him. When Jack saw Grim, he had to contain himself from punching the cat. He betrayed Yuu's trust and privacy, he hurt Yuu, and Jack wanted to protect her but he had no clue how. Due to this energy and rage being pent up for most of the day, Jack was like a cornered canine all day. He snapped at his classmates, his friends, and what got him was snapping at VIL. Jack was jogging around the school and down the main street where the Film Club was shooting a scene. They were packing up for the day and Vil was talking to an Ignanhyde student about something or other. Jack was distracted trying to think about anything other than Yuu and ran into Vil accidentally. Due to Jack's size, he knocked Vil into the Fairest Queen Statue behind him. "JACK!" Vil called and dusted himself off with grace. Jack stopped and bowed, his ears flattening, "Vil, I-I am sorry." The Ignanhyde student was frozen in place and looked Jack up and down. Vil looked at the student and gestured for him to leave, which his clubmate appreciated. "I didn't see you there. I'm so sorry." Vil looked at his childhood friend and sharpened his gaze, "It's alright." He nods for the underclassman to follow him behind the statue. Once out of sight, Vil crossed his arms and asked, "What is going on? According to Epel, you have been on edge all day. It isn't like you to not keep an eye on your surroundings." Jack shook his head and said, "It's nothing. I'm fine." Vil stepped closer and tilted his head, "It's Yuu isn't it?" Jack's cheeks went red and he looked away. "No." Vil kept pushing Jack as he knew the freshman was lying. He knew he pushed the right button when he said, "You're in love with her aren't you?" "WHY CAN'T YOU LEAVE IT!" Jack snapped at the upperclassman and immediately regretted it. Vil wasn't phased but had a stern look on his face, "Jack. Because you are a good friend of mine I am going to let that go. But listen to what I say and take it to heart." Vil's tone was sharp and the beastman listened intently, "Go find her and tell her how you feel before it is too late." His eyes softened and he placed a hand on his friend's shoulder, "Yuu is a shy person and you obviously have very strong feelings for her and a desire to protect her. She is probably scared right now and needs someone to lean on. Go to her and do what you do best. Make her feel safe." Jack rubbed the back of his neck and felt small, "But what if... what if she doesn't feel the same?" Vil sighs and says, "You don't know she doesn't until you try." Jack nodded and released some of the tension in his body. "Thanks, Vil." The Pomefiore Dorm leader nodded and released the freshman in the direction of Ramshackle. Jack jogged over to the dilapidated building and was finally able to get inside. He stood in front of Yuu's door, took a deep breath, and let his heart speak. "Yuu... I'm here for you and always will be... I don't want you to feel any pressure, but I need to get this off my chest... I-I... ever since you saved everyone from Azul's contracts, you... I've been bewitched... by you."

Jack's tail never stopped wagging for the next few weeks. Anytime Yuu's scent was in the air or they were sitting together, his tail would give away his joy at having her near. The other first years did point this out (Ace), but he didn't care, and Yuu found it endearing. Vil smiled when he saw the two and Jack thanked him personally saying that he always knew they were meant for each other (Rook and Vil had known about the two's mutual feelings for a long time now, but it wasn't their place to tell).

Jack felt incredibly self-concise about his size, his hair, his smell... everything. He had no clue how to stand, where to put his hands, and his heart was beating out of his chest. He felt like he was standing there for hours and debated leaving when he heard footsteps on the other side. He looked up in time for Yuu to open the door. He looked directly in her beautiful doe eyes and saw a glint of hope.

She stood there silent for a moment, both of them searching for words. When words failed to come, Yuu hugged him. Her small frame fit snug against him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and the back of her head. He held her with such gentleness as if he was scared to break her.

Jack needed no words to express his feelings, he expressed them in the way he held her close. His large hand cradled her head and stroked it with such love. His lips barely grazed the top of her head, but that is all that was needed. He loved her. He wanted to protect her. And no words could express how much he felt for her, and no words were needed. She knew how he felt.

"... I love you too Jack ..." Yuu said softly and it made Jack's heart jump again.

His tail began to wag and a smile graced his lips. His large hand moved to her cheek and gently guided her to look at him. He stroked her soft cheek with his calloused hand and leaned his forehead against hers, "I know I am not much for words but... I promise, I'll protect you, no matter what comes our way. And I will love you with all my being."

"I know," Yuu smiled, "and so will I,"

With that, the two leaned in and sealed their promise of devotion with a tender kiss.

Eventually, Yuu had gotten comfortable enough with Jack to work on her songs while he was in the room. It was a random Thursday night, Jack was working on homework and Yuu was working on her songs. She caught Jack by surprise when she asked him his opinion on a song. He put down his homework and agreed to listen. He curled up behind her and listened as she sang the song she had been working on the past couple of weeks, all while Jack's tail lightly wagged on the side of the bed; "Lovesick"
