Yeah! So. I think it's most commonly agreed that in cardverse the royals - king, queen, and jack - have a mark. Whether it's passed on/they are born with it or if it spawns on their body later throughout life more or less randomly, the mark of the kingdom determins who shall rule it.
Now what I was thinking about is this. What if it's not that the king and queen are destined by fate, god(s), the aracana, the universe to fall in love and rule the kingdom together, it's more like that they do not have a choice. Think of soulmates, but these are strangers who meet for the first time, are forced into a life in palace by the system surrounding them. As soon as the mark is discovered on their body, the future royals are taken away from their family, their friends, ripped right out of their life and they start to forget.
At first it's just the realisation that they haven't thought about their family for a while. Then confusion when they discover an old picture with a sibling they don't remember anymore. Soon all memories of their friends and family, even their lover, maybe a spouse is gone. Replaced by an unbreakable bond with their new partner, heir king or queen that a higher power chose for them.
What if the mark and the higher power deciding the fate and history of the kingdom isn't some kind spirit, what if it's a curse that uses the so called royals as nothing but vessels like a parasite?
