Law & Order: SVU - First Date + First Kiss (Preferences)
Classification: Fluff
Pairing: Alex Cabot, Casey Novak, Liz Donnelly, Olivia Benson and Rita Calhoun
Warnings: None
Word count: +1000
Alex Cabot
Tumblr media
- The blonde quickly pulls herself together, trying to mask the confusion of feelings and the shock of seeing you after so many years without any contact, failing miserably. She feels a little lost, not knowing how to act, slightly out of it. And continues like this for the next few weeks, even showing up almost every day at the bakery until finally getting up the courage to ask you out to dinner. It's a fancy restaurant, at a table away from curious eyes and the atmosphere is pleasant, you talk about your lives so far, between laughs, wine and an occasional physical touch, like hands accidentally crossing, her touch on your back as you get up from the chair, pinky fingers so close as you walk along the sidewalk that one can feel the warmth of the other. Alex insists on taking you home, you stop in front of the apartment door and both smile nervously. "I missed you." She whispers, tucking a stubborn lock of hair behind your ear. "No more than I missed you." You stare at each other for a few seconds and ADA leans in, asking permission with her gaze to continue, then you nod, joining your lips in a gentle and needy kiss, full of emotion, longing.
Casey Novak
Tumblr media
- It was no surprise when, in the middle of dinner, Casey's phone rang and she was forced to run after some judge to get warrants, she had barely touched the food, nor had you, both immersed in a fun and spontaneous flirting. The following week she's waiting for you in the lobby of the precinct with a box of your favorite dessert, which was mentioned at dinner, and a mysterious proposal. She takes you for a apparently directionless walk until ending up at a softball practice cage, no one else there, all the equipment waiting. Her words are patient, hands soft around your waist, body warm and slightly sweaty behind yours as her fingers wander up the forearm to put hands together and teach you how to use the bat, it's almost too much, all the sensations and little things the ginger provokes without even realizing it. "Good shot, sugar." She celebrates happily when you hit one target, proud of the result of hard work, and lifts you, twirling in the air, faces coming closer and you kiss as if it were the right thing to do, it's deep and passionate, all the tension built up over weeks expressed in one act.
Liz Donnelly
Tumblr media
- Another night spent working late, it's become a kind of routine you've started to get used to. Long nights full of paperwork, words that start to blur together in a few hours and a dozen cups of coffee, sometimes energy drinks. The last folder has been checked and the notes reviewed, when the knock on the door wakes you up, surprised, as the building seemed empty except for the security team. "You know it's 1am, right?" Liz smiles, entering your office, a bottle of whisky and two glasses in hand "I thought you might need these." And offers one of them, a little fuller because she knows it's necessary. Hours pass without either of you noticing, the bottle is half full and you're both on the floor, high heels thrown on the carpet, messy hairstyles and trivial conversations. "So, Cabot and you...?" She asks suggestively. "Oh, no, no, actually... she's my sister." The woman is clearly surprised, you expect some kind of negativity, maybe a little suspicion, but she just smiles and approaches. "Great!" Closing the distance with a half-drunk, slow and sensual kiss.
Olivia Benson
Tumblr media
- Board game days become a bi-weekly program between you, the two families start to meet often and a bond quickly forms, not unexpected considering how close your children are, like flesh and blood. The kids have fun in friendly competitions and eat snacks, sometimes preferring to play in the garden or watch random cartoons until they fall asleep. This time it's different, the pair went to a sleepover, you opened a bottle of wine, sipping it between relaxed conversations, a nice meal and close to midnight you're still awake. "Finally some time for the moms." She raises her glass and knocks on yours to toast the break, you both love your children, but they seem to be plugged in 24/7. "And without having to watch Trolls, I've memorized all the songs." You mumble, drinking the rest of the wine and snuggling up on the sofa, the woman unconsciously rests her arm on the headboard, touching your shoulder, both smile and try to pay attention to The Golden Girls. Almost impossible to do when long fingers wander over your bare skin, the genuine laughter and the magnetism that leads you to stare at her, enchanted. Eyes meet, breaths become heavy and you stop fighting the urge to finally kiss Olivia.
Rita Calhoun
Tumblr media
- Her presence is very pleasant, bringing some kind of comfort to your tiring work days and boring shifts, there are delightful conversations when the restaurant is almost empty, occasionally she even makes a witty joke. As a result, you've become good friends, despite all the differences, from personality, age to social class. Bonds are created in the small details, maybe in the kind and gentle way she treats you, how she pays attention to the almost insignificant things you've left hanging in the air during a conversation, proof of which is the limited edition of your favorite book she brings to one of the dinners. Inside is a card with an address, a time and telling you to meet her there. So you do, wearing one of your favorite outfits and silently praying to be appropriate, in the end it doesn't matter much, she has prepared a candlelit dinner in the botanical garden, just you two, the nature and the stars. "I really enjoyed our night, it was lovely." You whisper and play nervously with the hands. "And what about me?" Rita teases, stopping walking, and you blush nodding positively. She tries to say something more, but is interrupted by your lips on hers in a clumsy impulse, there's a doubt in the air, answered by her hands on your waist pulling you in to deepen the passionate kiss.

Memory Case ~Rita Calhoun xFem Smart!Wife!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary— Some at-home fluff, Rita is working on her case that’s he’s taken home, while talking with her wife. Thoughts and conversations about memory ensue.
Mommy… Master List
Requests & Prompt-List
Warnings: all fluff, some science talk, talk of trauma, kissing, happy endings, etc.
Enjoy (;
It was the evening, and you and Rita had found a comfortable routine of doing your late night work at the dining table together, that way you two felt like you were still spending some time together as your jobs ate away your free time.
As you were nose deep into some paperwork, the sound of your name on the other woman’s tongue pulled your gaze up towards her.
“Mmmmm…?” You hum.
Rita paused for a moment, paper and pen in hand, tilting her head at something she was looking at. Your brows raised in curiosity.
“What’s up, babe?” You verbally asked.
“What’s the earliest memory you have…?” The brunette asked out of the blue, obviously having a train of thought behind her words, but having not yet revealed her thinking to you.
You thought about it for a moment, leaning back in your chair.
“Ummmmm… probably my childhood home… when I was around 2 to 3 years old… I remember the street I used to live on, and all the leaves falling because it was fall.” You replied.
Rita finally meets your gaze with a curious look on her face, her contemplation running deep.
“Huh. Interesting…” she commented, before scribbling something down on her notepad.
You put your things aside for a moment, your attention now grabbed.
“Why…?”
“I’ve been thinking about memory a lot recently…” she hummed, going back to her files.
You nodded along in intrigue.
“For a case?”
Rita took a prompt breath and nodded.
“What about it…?” You asked.
The woman then stopped what she was doing to collect her thoughts and meet your gaze once more.
“It’s correlation with how we process… how we remember certain things… how trauma can block certain memories…” She paused for a moment, “I’m thinking of using it as a defense…”
You nodded along, listening to the woman, as she went back to working.
“What do you know about memory?”
Rita snorted a little. Her snorts always made you melt.
“Not much. You?”
“A good deal.”
At your words, Rita put her things down and looked at you once more.
“Really?”
“Baby, I’m a therapist. Memory is like my domain.” You chuckled with a shrug.
Her hands then came forward above the table, nonchalantly prompting you to fill her in.
“Do tell.” She said, cocking her brow in wait.
You chuckled lightly and nodded, pursing your lips and thinking of where to begin, already picking up your hands in preparation to lecture the brunette on your expertise.
“Ok so firstly, Memory can be defined as the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information. Now there are generally four different kinds of recognized memory— those are sensory memory, short-term memory, working memory, and long-term memory.” You explain, waving your hands about in the way you always did when you were teaching.
Rita tilted her head and listened with intent, nodding along to show her understanding. Her eyes softened at the sight of your hand gestures. She found them to be the cutest rhing.
“Alright, I follow.”
“Good. So according to Baddeley and Hitch, the following is how memory works. First comes the input, this is filtered through our sensory memory, which is where the processing starts. Then with attention, the information moves to the short-term memory, this is where information can be stored for a brief period of time. Another word for this hold is the Central Executive, this is the function of working memory that delegates what information should be retained and processed and what should be forgotten. From there, the information stays in the working memory, able to go to the Visuospatial Sketchpad or the Phonological Loop, the former is for visual and spatial processing, the latter for auditory processing. Still following?”
At this point, Rita had started taking notes, and she eagerly looked up and nodded, prompting you to continue.
“Good good. So from there from the working memory, the information can go to the episodic buffer and then to long-term memory. That’s the basics, it can get more complicated easily, but that’s what I would teach anyone interested in starting to understand memory.” You explain.
Rita lets out an intriguing hum, and you can see the cogs turning in her brain behind those dazzling eyes.
“So what if someone can’t remember what they did…?” The brunette asked.
“Well sometimes it’s because you forget the exact neural pathway, the recollection to the memory. Memory goes through the episodic buffer, something that helps you recall things in episodes or in correlation. When you trigger memories near the one you’ve forgotten, you can recall the one you don’t remember.”
“Hmmmmm I see.” Rita mused aloud, “And trauma?”
You pursed your lips and nodded with a sigh.
“That’s more complicated… Trauma has a way of building blocks or obstacles let’s say for you to access the traumatic memories. It’s best to uncover those with a professional.” You explain.
“And how do you know if it’s just forgotten or if it’s trauma…? I want to make a case for trauma but I don’t want it to bite me in the ass if he suddenly remembers it all.” Rita explained.
You nod again.
“I see. Well then I would say get him clinically evaluated. They should be able to tell you if it’s suppressed, repressed, or just forgotten.”
Rita smiled lightly at your words and nodded in agreement. She didn’t respond immediately, seemingly in thought.
“You okay, babe?” You asked, sitting up a little.
Rita nodded, standing up and making her way over to you. She came up behind you, wrapping her arms around your frame.
“I love you. You know that?” She purred.
You blushed and squirmed in your seat a little. Even to this day, your wife using the L word made you all giddy.
“I love you too, Rita” you hummed.
The woman then swiveled your head to the side and gently connected your lips together. You pressed into the light, caring kiss with a hum of contentment.
“How’d I get so lucky with a genius like you?” She chuckled into your lips.
You shrugged accompanied by a little giggle, as Rita drew you out of your seat and into her close embrace. She literally kissed your breath away. You couldn’t have asked for a more perfect partner.

Whenever You're Ready
Tumblr media
Rita Calhoun x reader Warnings: language, some minor anxiety, major comfort, lotsa fluff. Covers a bingo square for @prentiss-theorem along with being a pretty self indulgent fic lol. rita come take care of me when?!
Rita Calhoun was not one to leave work early. She was one to stay in the office until her stomach was grumbling, finally pulling her away from her desk only to set up camp at a local lounge to work for another few hours before finally heading home.
But today was not one of those days.
Today she was home before rush hour even began, dropping her things by the door, stepping out of her shoes and padding down the hallway to strip out of her clothes and step into a luxurious shower. Once the grime of the day and the city was washed off her body she went through her full skincare routine, careful to make sure nothing was missed. After selecting a rather lacy lingerie set in her preferred colour of green she wandered to the walk in closet, lips pursed as she fingered through a couple of dress options for tonight.
She’d been waiting for this evening for what felt like weeks on end now. Thanks to work she’d had to cancel the last of your dinner dates, and what were supposed to be lunches were exchanged for quick coffee hand offs in courthouse hallways. She felt like she hadn’t seen you all month and the feeling was mutual; tonight was the special night to make up for it. She’s secured reservations at The Palm Court for cocktails and dinner and stopped by a few stores on the way home to pick up a bouquet of lilies, a few of your favourite treats and a couple of nice bottles of wine for the plans she had for after dinner, those of course, that involved not leaving the bedroom for the rest of the weekend. Ones that would reassure you of just how much she cared, how much she wanted you around and how much she simply adored you, ones that would calm her own worries.
The two of you hadn’t been together very long, it had started out casual, a coffee here, a dinner date there, one night of martinis that ended in the bedroom and you both became very aware that you simply couldn’t get enough. The following week you’d asked Rita to be your girlfriend, she’d instantly accepted of course, and that was seven weeks ago if she remembered correctly. It seemed like clockwork that no matter how good her relationships were going it was right around now that they started to fall back to casual, to not committed solely to each other anymore. She knew her work was part of it, that no one really understood what they were getting into, how many hours she actually put in, not to mention all the functions and galas that went along with it.
Which is why tonight had to be absolutely perfect.
She finally selected a dress, slipping it on over her head as she padded back to the bedroom, smoothing the skirt of it out as she went. It didn’t take long for her to work through her hair and makeup, leaving the curls from the day in, but brushed out so they were a little looser, pinning a couple pieces back so it was off her face. She was swiping on mascara when her phone buzzed on the basin, dancing dangerously close to the sink. Placing the tube back in her make up organizer she picked up her phone, swiping open the message from you.
‘Running behind. I’m so sorry.’
‘It’s no worry, I can push the reservation, just let me know when you’re on your way.’
Across town you watched as three bubbles popped up while she typed, letting out a breath at the message reply before you dropped your phone back down to the bed and simultaneously collapsed back into the pillows.
You were running behind, but that was in fact because you had yet to even start to get ready.
You wanted to go; you really did. You missed Rita, you wanted to see her, but you were exhausted past any point you’d ever been before. The last three weeks you’d taken on an extra load at work, covering the beginning of a coworkers maternity leave while they searched for a suitable replacement. You hadn’t realized just how much extra work it would be on top of your already crammed schedule, and how many more face to face meetings and calls you would be doing. You hadn’t had a moment to yourself the entire time, all you wanted to do was lie facedown on your bed in complete silence but even the Wi-Fi router was too loud for that. You thought about your noise cancelling headphones, maybe just five minutes with them on would give you the energy to get up and dressed but they were in your gym bag by the front door. Your body ached and no matter how much you craved the quiet, you weren’t willing to walk that far right now.
Your eyes closed for a moment, trying to remember the name of the restaurant Rita had picked for tonight and tears welled up in your eyes at the sheer idea of having to be out in the city tonight, much less surrounded by people, chatter, clattering of dishes, music, it made your skin crawl. Taking a deep breath to try and calm yourself your eyes scrunched open, if you wanted to bail on tonight, you were going to have to do it now, you didn’t want to keep pushing it off to the point that Rita was waiting at the restaurant, you would never do that to her. So you picked up your phone again, your thumb hovering over her contact while you debated between continuing to text or if you were going to have the energy to call. Eventually you decided that if you were cancelling, you should probably be more personable, clicking her contact and putting it on speaker so you wouldn’t even have to hold your arm up.
“Hello?” Her voice softly rang through the room and your lips couldn’t help but curve into a smile as your body began to let out some of the tension you’d been holding on to.
“Hey.” You replied, your voice muffled by the duvet, “Rita, I’m so sorry but I am utterly wiped, I can’t even fathom the idea of going out tonight. I feel terrible ‘cause I know you made reservations and were looking forward to it but I just… can’t. Is there any way we can reschedule?” You were once again, fighting the tears threating to blur your vision, hating yourself for even thinking of cancelling.
“Darling you sound exhausted.” Rita frowned instantly at the dejected tone in your voice, “and it’s not to worry, they won’t charge my card, I can move it to next week?”
“Are you sure? You’re allowed to be mad.”
“How could I ever be mad?” She chuckled, “I know you’ve been overworked recently; I was just looking forward to some time getting to spoil you. I miss you.”
“I miss you too.” You let out a quiet sigh, “I did really want to see you.”
“Well, why don’t you just come over? Whenever you’re ready, we can do takeout instead. I would really like to see you.”
You chewed on your lip for a moment while you thought it over. You did really want to see Rita, when you said you missed her, you meant it. The mere minutes outside the courthouse were never enough to get your fill and you knew if you didn’t see her now it’d be at least a full week before you got the chance. You huffed softly, frowning as you thought about the commute to get to Tribeca and Rita spoke once again before your brain could fully scare you.
“Just let me know when you’re close to recharged, I’ll send a car over for you so you don’t have to deal with the subway or worry about hailing a cab.”
“You’re the best, you know that?”
“I do get told relatively often.” She replied with a smirk and you chuckled.
“Give me like, an hour? I should shower and it’ll take me at least twenty minutes to psych myself up for that.”
“Then don’t.” She shrugged, “there’s a reason I’ve got a huge tub here. I’ll even wash your hair for you, one less thing on the to do list.”
“Now you’re spoiling.”
“Exactly as I intended.” She smiled, “now, hang up the phone and enjoy your hour. I’ll see you soon.”
“Thank you.” You replied with a tired grin, hand reaching out to the phone as you ended the call, letting out a low sigh.
As predicted, you stayed face down on the bed for the next twenty minutes, finally pushing yourself up with a groan as you stumbled around the apartment getting ready to go.
Back in Tribeca Rita hung up the phone with a small sigh, as much as she had been looking forward to going out, the important part had been you and she could tell you weren’t up for it. Keeping you happy was higher on her list than being out in the city, besides, a night in would honestly be nice for her too, a little break from society and no risk of running into anyone she knew. She quickly finished what was left to do of her make up and was honestly thankful she wasn’t going to have to put a pair of Manolo’s back on, wandering through the apartment barefoot.
Out in the kitchen she poured herself a glass of wine, sipping at it as she flipped through the mail, sorting take out menus from the flyers she immediately tossed in the recycling. She sifted through the menus, thinking about dinner, it was still early enough she wasn’t hungry but it would be nice to have a couple of options to present to you later on. Her phone vibrated on the island, alerting her that you were ready to go and she replied that the car was on its way.
Twenty minutes later you were knocking on her apartment door, opting for prime comfort you’d changed into leggings, a soft tank and a thin cardigan wrapped around you, weekend bag tossed over your shoulder. Rita pulled the door open only a moment later, a soft smile on her cheeks as she greeted you, leaning in to kiss your cheek briefly as you entered the apartment.
“You look… gorgeous…” You managed to get out, eyes wandering her frame and she chuckled quietly.
“Thank you.” She kissed the side of your head.
“Sorry it was for nothing.” You wrapped your arms around yourself, ducking your gaze and she let out a breath, finger curling under your chin.
“It absolutely was not for nothing.” She insisted, “at the very least, it was for you and that was a priority last time I checked. I just hadn’t gotten around to changing.” She shrugged, softly, leading you into the kitchen, “wine?”
“Please.” You replied, eagerly reaching for the glass she was passing you, taking a heavy swig.
“Would you like to talk about it?” She asked gently, taking a sip of her own wine.
“No.” You huffed, “I want to forget about it. I’m just tired…” you trailed off, looking out the large windows at the city as it shifted from day to evening.
“Alright.” Rita’s hand squeezed at yours and you nearly tensed for a moment before relaxing, “how about dinner?”
“Honestly I’m not really hungry right now, I mean….” You faltered, “I am, I barely ate lunch but I’m almost past the point, ya know?”
“Well why don’t you just look through some options?” Rita asked, “we can order later, whenever you’re ready. If you were to eat what do you feel like?”
“Comfort.” You mumbled, dropping onto one of the stools.
“Like pizza?”
“Like homecooked goodness.” You replied with a huff, feeling embarrassment seeping through you, Rita was just trying to help and you weren’t exactly making this easy.
“Well that can mean a lot of things.” She chuckled softly, fanning out some of the menus in front of you, “Italian? Thai? Fried rice, burgers, I think this place has meatloaf? McDonald’s may not be homecooked but I think it’s pretty high up the comfort chain?”
“I dunno…” you shook your head, eyes darting between the menus and you could feel the overwhelming sense of panic beginning to soothe through you, tears creeping into the corner of your eyes again, “I just… I don’t know what I want, it’s almost like there’s too many choices. Oh god…” you dropped your head into your hands, trying to keep some semblance of control, “I’m so sorry. I’m in a mood, I’m going to be fucking terrible company, I should just go. It’s not you, I promise, I just need like…silence…”
“Darling… it’s fine.” Rita cautiously reached out, a hand gently rubbing circles on your back as the other swiped away the menus and pushed your wine glass closer to you, “take the bedroom.” She nodded down the hall, “you know how to work the tv if you want to zone out, have a nap, sit in silence, whatever you want for as long as you need. I’ve got some work I should probably catch up on, I’ll stay out here until you’re ready.”
“Are you sure?” You glanced up at her and she frowned at the misting in your eyes before she nodded.
“Absolutely. Take care of yourself before you worry that pretty little head with anything else, and you let me know if I can do anything to help.”
“I will.” You pushed yourself off the stool with a huff, scooping up the wine before looking up at your girlfriend, “thank you.”
“Of course.” She shot you a warm smile before you turned and made your way down the hall, the bedroom door closing with a quiet click.
Rita sighed softly, hating seeing you like this and partially hating herself for dragging you out of the comfort of your own home when you were down. She hoped that you had actually wanted to come, to see her, rather than just doing it out of sheer obligation and because she wanted you to. Picking up her wine glass she meandered into the living room, true to her word, she actually did have some work that could be done. Considering your request for silence, she opted to not turn the tv on for background noise and plucked her earphones out of her purse for music rather than risk disturbing you. She remembered the days of living with obnoxious roommates or working for the DA’s office as a junior attorney where no one had their own private offices, they could be extremely overstimulating and she wanted nothing of the sort for you right now.
Across the apartment you’d instantly burrito’d yourself in Rita’s bed, how comfortable her bed was happened to be one of the few selling points that had gotten you to leave your own apartment that day. The memory foam topper let you sink into it with ease, feeling like you were on a cloud as you wrapped yourself in the high thread count sheets and fluffiest duvet you could imagine. You popped your phone on silent, tossed it on the nightstand and reached for the remote, flicking on the tv to scroll through shows until you found something you liked, making sure the volume was muted, subtitles already on as Rita preferred. It didn’t take long before your eyes fluttered shut and you were happily dreaming, finally beginning to recover from the hellish weeks you’d had.
*
The moon was high in the sky by the time Rita looked up through the window, her head tilting in near confusion at how much time had gone past. She had finished her opening argument, questioning for three witnesses and then gotten distracted by a book of crosswords before her stomach had started to growl. Glancing down the hallway she could tell that you’d left the bedroom light off, but there was a light glow from a small lamp and the television and she wondered if you were ready to eat yet or not. She thought about what you’d said as she moved through the apartment, packing up her work things so they wouldn’t get missed on Monday and began to peek through her fridge and pantry. While she knew she wasn’t about to whip up some masterpiece, she did spy a box of Kraft mac and cheese and she knew she could at least manage that.
She set about her work trying to keep as quiet as possible as she did so, music still quietly playing in her earphones while she waited for the water to boil. Rita opened the fridge again, eyes darting through it in search of the other cheeses she had, wondering if any of them would add to the dish, make it feel more homey for you. She settled on a mix of gouda, jalapeno Havarti and goat cheese, grating and chopping them into smaller pieces that would melt and easily mix with the pasta. It was done before she knew it, portioning it out into two bowls and tucking the bottle of wine under her arm while she managed to get everything down the hall to the bedroom. A gentle knock on the door before your voice quietly called out and she nudged it open.
“Ohoho…” she chuckled softly, “darling, you look cold.” You were still wrapped tightly in the blankets, an extra one tucked right around you, holding them up to your chin as you watched tv, curled in a little ball.
“A little chilly, I guess.” You replied with a tired smile, “that smells good, what is it?”
“Nothing spectacular, but at least I managed to not burn the house down.” She replied with a smirk, placing the wine and food down on the nightstand before she crossed the room, sliding the window shut so the cool breeze couldn’t get in any longer. “Sorry, I didn’t realize I’d left it open.”
“It’s okay,” you replied with a yawn, pushing yourself up to sitting, “gave me the excuse to snuggle up.”
Rita refilled your wine glass before perching on the edge of the bed, her hand coming up to caress your cheek, “are you feeling any better?”
“Kind of.” Your eyes darted to the food, “but I am definitely hungry now.”
“Alright.” She chuckled, leaning in to kiss your forehead, “well, boxed mac and cheese is about the best I’ve got, but there’s some extra goodness added in there, I hope it helps.”
Reaching out behind her she picked up a bowl as you shifted on the bed to give her space to settle beside you. You had of course, been sleeping on her side of the bed, the smell of her shampoo lingering on the pillow lulling you into a state of relaxation. You accepted the bowl from her, letting the blankets fall from your frame and your body broke out in goosebumps in the chilly air, your cardigan from earlier laying abandoned on a spare chair and you couldn’t help but shiver.
“Well now there’s no denying that you’re cold.” Rita stated with a knowing look and you couldn’t do anything aside from sheepishly smile at her, “hold on, but dig in.” She prodded at your side, earning a shriek like giggle as you smiled at her, watching her cross the room to the closet before you finally scooped up a bite of pasta.
“Oh my god…” you groaned over the first bite, “this is incredible.”
“Oh please.” Rita’s laugh came from the walk in, “you don’t have to lie to me, it’s edible at best.”
“No, it’s amazing.” You mumbled over a second bite, “you may not be a whiz in the kitchen but maybe this is your calling.”
“Sure.” She barked a laugh back, eventually emerging from the closet in a pair of leggings and a worn tee, in her hands her faved maroon Harvard hoodie for you to help combat the cold air in the room. “All I did was add a few extra types of cheese, I wanted to try and make it more homey for you.”
“It’s more than that.” You smiled up at her, swapping off the bowl for the hoodie so you could tug it over your head before taking the bowl back as Rita settled back on the bed beside you.
“Mmm?” She raised a brow, picking up her own bowl of pasta, “how so?”
“We had plans, that we were both looking forward to and that you were ready for. And I bailed.” You sighed, “and instead of getting upset, or mad, or being overbearing and demanding to figure out what was wrong you just let me be me. Hell you did even better than that…” you glanced up at her with a small smile on your face, “you took care of me when I didn’t know how to articulate what I wanted or needed. Sure, this is a meal a ten year old could make but it’s delicious and heartwarming because it’s you that made it with the intention of making me feel better. Does that make sense?”
“Yes.” She smiled across at you, her hand cupping your cheek “and I’m glad it helped.”
“Anything you do will always help.” You ducked your gaze for a brief second before looking back up at her, “because I love you.”
“Oh sweetheart.” A warmth bloomed in her chest, happy tears threatening to fill her eyes as she leant toward you to steal a tender kiss, her thumb stroking across your cheek, “I love you too.” She murmured, pecking you once more before leaning back, “that’s why I was so worried about you. I know you’ve had a rough couple of weeks and I know how crazy that can get, I understand why you would want to isolate right now so I am incredibly thankful that you were willing to come over tonight.”
“As much as I wanted to be alone, being with you sounded even better.” You admitted with a smile, “part of me wanted to just stay home but something in my gut told me to come over and you couldn’t have dealt with it in a better way. You just… know me…” a grin took over your cheeks, “and I don’t care what you say this mac and cheese is fucking phenomenal.”
“Well, maybe it’s just made with love.” Rita chuckled, leaning in to kiss you gently again, your lips curving up into a grin against hers before you reluctantly pulled away.
The two of you relaxed into the headboard, letting out happy sighs as you finally had the chance to fully divulge into dinner. Rita flicked the volume up on the television, glancing your way to make sure it wasn’t too loud or disturbing before she returned to her food, her free hand squeezing softly at yours between bites. There was no doubt from either of you, this was exactly where you needed to be, exactly who you needed to be with, and it didn’t matter that dinner came from a box.
A Michelin star chef couldn’t have made something that comforted you as much as this did, they would be completely unable to make something that tasted as good as this did, because it was made with love, by the person that you loved more than anything in the world and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Traitor
Tumblr media
Title: Traitor
Pairing: Rita Calhoun x Reader
Summary: Y/n's relationship with Rita brings tension to the SVU.
Word Count: 1141
Y/n knew to expect tension as they waited for the perp's council to get there. This case had been rough on everyone, and a good amount of the potential suspects were all represented at the same firm. Y/n had been hopeful that it wouldn't be Perez, but of course, she hadn't been so lucky.
The man was among the richest and most powerful in the city, and his counsel reflected that. Rita was the best of the best. Her rates were high, and there was a good reason for that. It didn't matter how concrete your evidence was, she could find another way to make someone on the opposition trip up.
She had been a force of nature back whenever she was a prosecutor. SVU had the highest conviction rate of any of the units back then. All of it had changed after Rita left however. A lot of things had changed, not that Y/n held any of it against Rita. She wanted her girlfriend to be happy and follow her passion.
"Why do you look all guilty like that?" Fin asked Y/n. He was eyeing her suspiciously. She had been tense since they found out that the DNA matched Perez's. He knew that Y/n knew something she wasn't telling them about. "You didn't help this asshole, did you?"
"No, but I know his counsel," Y/n admitted. Fin's face fell as he realized exactly what that meant for them. SVU had been lucky enough to not have gone toe-to-toe with Rita Calhoun just yet, but it was coming. Fin had heard about her, all the things that she was capable of doing.
"What am I missing here?" Amanda asked as she looked between them. Y/n just shrugged it off, hopeful that they wouldn't have to talk about it. Y/n had hopped around a few units before, none of which had ever received Rita warmly. They were always hostile, even if they hadn't ever gone up against her in court.
"Don't worry about it," Y/n muttered as she tried to find something to busy herself with. She hoped that she'd be able to be busy when Rita got there, but of course, that wasn't the case. Y/n had managed to completely finish the few reports that hadn't been completed just as Rita walked onto their floor of the precinct.
Y/n always loved watching Rita whenever she was working. Rita was the embodiment of power and grace. She sacrificed nothing of either of achieve exactly what she wanted most of the time. Everybody who knew about her tensed up, and even Amanda, who had never heard of Rita before, seemed to get the gist that they were screwed.
"Take me to my client," Rita ordered. She was curt, something that rubbed Y/n the wrong way. Y/n shot Rita a warning glance, one that didn't go unnoticed by Amanda. Unfortunately for Y/n, none of their interaction seemed to go unnoticed by Amanda. "Please?"
"Right this way counselor," Y/n said with a genuine smile. Rita blushed and followed Y/n towards interrogation. Y/n walked back to her desk, where Amanda was perched on the edge. "Can I help you with something Detective Rollins?"
"You and the bitchy lawyer, you're friends or something, right?" Amanda asked.
"Or something," Y/n said as she held her hand up. Amanda was taken aback by the wedding ring on her finger. Amanda knew that Y/n was married, but she had never in a million years thought Y/n would go after a lawyer. Much less one that worked for the defense.
"So you can keep her on a leash for this, right? She knows how important this case is for us?" Amanda asked. Y/n clenched her jaw as she glanced towards Fin for help. He looked completely off in his own world, despite the fact that Amanda wasn't talking quietly enough for only the two of them were hear.
"I can't control Rita any more than she can me, Amanda. She's here to do a job the same as us. So just go back to your desk and make sure that it's as hard for her to get this guy off the hook as possible," Y/n ordered. It wasn't often that the Y/n spoke to anybody like that. She knew that Amanda would be resentful about it for a while, but there wasn't much else that Y/n could think to do.
The bullpen was a bit tense for the rest of the afternoon, which only got worse when Rita walked right out of the interrogation room with her client. Benson looked pissed and pulled Amanda and Fin into her office. Y/n was terrified that Benson was ripping into them for something that Rita had brought to light in the arrest. Her fears were realized when Amanda stomped back over to her desk.
"Everything okay?" Y/n asked Fin. He just gave a curt nod as he sat back down in his seat. Things were tense and quiet until Amanda spoke up as everyone was leaving.
"Are you really going to just let her walk all over us with this case?" Amanda asked. "I bet you like the nice, cushy paychecks when she wins, don't you?"
"I can't do this again. I can't start all over in a new unit. Get over yourself and accept that Rita and I are going to be together even if she gets our perp off the hook. I can't run home screaming at her every single time she bats for a criminal. At the end of the day, it's a job. I can't lose the best thing in my life over a job," Y/n told her. It was nice to finally get all of that off of her chest, and it seemed like Y/n had really gotten through to Amanda. The blonde's expression softened signficantly.
"I'm sorry," Amanda apologized. She kept her eyes downcast liked a child full of shame. Y/n realized in that moment how much younger Amanda was compared to her. She had done her time in Atlanta, but Y/n had been on the force for nearly 20 years.
"I won't lie to you and say that it's all fine, but we can work past this. I'll have your back when you need it, but if you ever say anything to Rita like that, I'll wring your neck out myself," Y/n told her. Amanda swallowed fearfully as she nodded. Y/n was surprised that Amanda stood down like that, but she was grateful for the lack of physicality to their little argument. It wouldn't be easy, but eventually, Y/n's unit would get used to the idea of Y/n being with Rita.

If you made a scale of Law and Order (and/or SVU) lawyers based on "most to least likely to get jealous" what would it look like?
Pairings || SVU lawyers x GN!Reader
Warnings || Jealousy ofc, anger, mentions of NSFW
Authors Note || just doing some SVU characters in order of least to most likely— this post kept glitching so hopefully when i post it posts normal?
Tumblr media
6. Peter Stone
I feel like he wouldn’t care
But in a ‘I know I’m amazing and I have no reason to be jealous’
Just cocky
5. Alex Cabot
Not cocky, but still doesn’t get jealous
Doesn’t have much a reason to
And doesn’t want to waste time being jealous
She trusts that nothing will happen anyways
4. Casey Novak
Feels the hits of jealously/anger but doesn’t react much at first
But if something makes her jealous, she’s good at voicing it outright
And she’s blunt about it so you know exactly how she feels
3. Rafael Barba
Silent jealous type— but easily jealous nonetheless
Another man even tries to check you out or flirt with you?
He’s immediately jealous and protectively holding your hip tightly
Might let out some of his jealousy frustrations during sex
2. Sonny Carisi
Sonny is definitely a bit more jealous than he lets on
Someone is flirting with his person?
Absolutely seething on the inside, normal on the outside
Definitely has a hand on you somewhere (your thigh, lower back, hand, etc)
1. Rita Calhoun
Vocal about it and you can tell how completely angry jealousy makes her
Very protective of you and jealously comes easily
Fights sometimes happen due to this, but she’s not necessarily mad at you, just made at who made her jealous
Jealous sex jealous sex jealous sex
i love rita calhoun so much and i need more sapphic fics with her

Chapter 8 of Fade Into You
Warnings/tags: Fluff, soft smut,
Pairing: Rita/Reader
A/N: Picks up right after Chapter 7, click through for a refresher, because it’s been a year a while since I’ve updated. Covers the “Oh fuck. Do that again.” square of @prentiss-theorem’s bingo. It’s a rush job, partially because I wanted to at least attempt to participate in bingo, and partially because I’m sick of this story and not updating.
Brief summary of why I haven’t updated.
Tumblr media
Where last night had been frantic, fast and rough, and so very desperate. The dawn that this morning brought was a stark contrast, soft and gentle, both of you finally allowing yourselves to show your vulnerability, without hesitation. Your eyes were glued to the others’ as you watched the swirls of pleasure darken them, soft words fanning your necks as your pupils dilated, and lips parted.
It was so very different from the night prior, where your eyes had been scrunched so tightly shut, or looking away, focusing on something else, out of some innate need to protect yourself.
It was as if Rita could read your mind, that last night she knew exactly what you wanted, what you needed, without you even having to hint at it, you hadn’t needed to speak or contort your bodies, she just knew. This morning was no different, as your guard lowered to allow her to see you fully like this, soft kisses and intense gazes as you chased your peaks together.
Afterwards as you both laid there, the tips of her fingers travelled up and down your back, no clear path or pattern to the movements, and when they traced over your neck and into the nape where your hair met, you moaned softly and shivered against her.
She leaned in, as her hand wrapped itself in your hair, softly tugging against the roots as she started kissing and sucking against the skin below your ear, every so often delivering a bite before soothing over the mark with her tongue.
And later when she laid her knees next to your head, arching her back as your nails ran down her toned stomach, you’d never thought you’d seen anything so beautiful. The sun rose above the curtains and the windows, through the clouds and buildings, casting a luminous orange glow over the room, and the two of you.
The light pierced through the windows as she came undone, on top of you, and that’s when you knew, for certain, you’d never seen anything so beautiful. The glow from the sun spread across her chest as her hands gripped your head tighter and her mouth formed the perfect ‘O’, as she shook above you.
You both let out low laughs when she came down, and rolled over next to you, swollen lips meeting for kisses as your eyelids leisurely closed, soft breaths as you fell asleep once more.
Tumblr media
When you finally roused that morning, you did so with a lopsided grin on your face, the images of the night gone, and the early morning just been, flashing through your mind. A shiver travelled up your spine as your body remembered what she had done to it. The feeling of her tongue and hands as they memorised the length of you.
You rolled over, expecting to find her asleep beside you, instead finding the sheets pulled back and no sign of her. You rubbed the sleep out of your eyes, sitting up, and craning your neck towards the door, listening for any sounds of life on the other side. You stretched out, raising your arms and rolling your neck. That’s when you spotted the note on the bedside table, ‘Gone to get breakfast. Be back soon x’. You smiled and breathed a short sigh of relief that she hadn’t panicked and left you here. You laughed silently to yourself and shook your head, of course she hadn’t fled and left you in her own apartment.
You walked into the ensuite and as the bright overhead lights clicked on, and you were met with your reflection in the mirror, you gasped at the sight of the purple hues of bruising that were so vivid on your chest and neck. You traced your fingers over them, feeling where teeth and lips had met skin.
You took a moment to comb your fingers through your hair, settling it, sweeping it to one side and over one shoulder. You turned your head ever so slightly, as the light bounced off the mark she’d left on your neck, you circled it delicately with the tip of your finger, remembering the feeling of it, and how you desperately wanted her to leave more.
After freshening up, you reached for the first piece of clothing you saw, Rita’s oxford button down that laid neatly across the armchair in the corner. Slipping it on and buttoning the bottom buttons up until they stopped at your sternum.
When you walked out and down the hallway, you almost jumped out of your skin when you saw her seated at the kitchen island, demitasse cup in one hand, newspaper in the other.
“You’re awake” she smiled softly as she set aside the paper and cup, leaning forward and resting her head in her hand as she looked over at you.
“Well I was cold, and lonely.” you yawned “Why’d you let me sleep so long?”
“Seemed like you needed it.” She shrugged, then she drank you in, noting the tiredness under your eyes and the third yawn that escaped you as you stood there, leaning against the counter. “You get used to the long hours, don’t worry.”
“Thanks” You reached over to the sink, grabbing your glass from the night prior, rinsing it before filling it from the tap, trying not to gulp down the water. “Somehow I don’t think the reason I’m tired is because of work.” If you weren’t paying attention, you would have missed the quick flash of her lips that turned into a smirk, and the way her eyes flashed fleetingly with something that resembled a frantic mix of excitement and smug pride.
“Lonely huh?” she raked her eyes over you. The tension between the two of you was building again, like it had done last night, and for years prior, like a bubble waiting to burst. “Do you want coffee?” you heard her ask it, but it was faint, your mind elsewhere, you took a breath and blinked, shaking your head lightly, and when you met her eyes again, you simply smiled quickly and nodded.
You turned your head, looking for the pot, and your eyes widened when you saw that she had an actual espresso machine, and not a drip one like you were used to. “I don’t know how to use that” you pointed and she laughed.
Rounding the island, coming to stand behind you, her arms wrapped around your waist as she leant in and kissed your neck, and then the spot just below your ear. “I’ll show you” she whispered and you broke out with goosebumps when her breath hit your neck, and her words lingered on your skin.
She put her hands on your hips, gently moving you out of the way, and you could hardly focus, your stomach doing somersaults every time she touched you. You tugged on the bottom of your shirt, pulling it down to cover the tops of your thighs before hopping up onto the island, crossing your legs as you watched her. The marble was cold under the bare skin of your thighs, and sobered you momentarily, like plunging into the ice.
“Milk?” she hummed out in question as she flitted around, pulling out the beans and turning on the machine.
“Please” you answered before the whirring sounds of the machine and grinder filled the room. You took her in, your eyes tracing all the way up her frame, glued to the sway of her hips, the perfect curves she possessed, and her long hair that cascaded down her back. She stole a quick glance over her shoulder and she simpered, looking pleased with herself, much like she always did.
“Are you paying attention?”
“Hmm?” you ran the pad of your thumb over your lips and when you looked up to find her looking intently at you, a perfect smirk plastered on her face, you blushed and ducked your head down.
You uncrossed your legs when she turned, mug in her hand, wrist outstretched as she presented it to you. You took it from her, your fingers running over hers when you gripped the handle. She looked down at your thighs, and then back up at you, taking a few steps until you uncrossed your legs and she was standing in between them. Your breath hitched in your throat when she ran her palms over the bare skin.
“Nice shirt” She ran her hands further up your thighs, gripped down, as you sipped from your mug, she stopped abruptly when she reached the crease where they ended and your hips began. Realisation on her face when her fingers felt what was missing, “You’re not wearing…” she trailed off, and you placed the mug down on the counter, biting your lip as you felt the tension begin to bubble over, and when she swept her eyes up to meet yours, you gave her a coy smile, and that was all it took. She surged up, forcefully claiming your lips with hers.
Your legs wrapped around her waist, reeling her in closer as tongues battled, and lips rolled together. She unbuttoned the shirt and swept the seams off your chest, pulling back, she reached her fingers out, ghosting them over your nipple, watching the way it stiffened as it bloomed, before pinching it. Not hard enough for it to sting or burn underneath her fingertips, just enough for her to amuse herself at the way your body reacted, at the soft moan that escaped your lips, and the way your eyes changed colours as they slowly rolled back.
She trailed her fingers down your chest and stomach, watching the way you reacted, your skin pricking as goosebumps formed. You both let out moans when her fingers entered you, breaths swirling together as they danced between lips and mouths. Your hips rolled in time with the movements of her wrist, and when she pulled them forward deep inside of you, you almost came undone.
“Oh fuck. Do that again.” you sobbed through airy gasps and breaths, and you knew she was smirking, without even having to look at her, the arrogance radiated off her.
“Can you take another?” she husked and you couldn’t speak, a strangled sob leaving your throat as you nodded furiously. “Good girl” she bit your earlobe and in that same moment, flicked her thumb up to your clit. You swore you could have come right in that moment, and as embarrassing as that was, you probably would have, if it wasn’t for her pulling her fingers out, a huff of laughter on your neck as she took in your reaction. “You like it when I call you that, don’t you?” and when you didn’t answer she bit into your neck, into a bruise she’d left the night before. “I asked you a question.”
“Yes.. yes..” you closed your eyes, and bit down on your bottom lip, almost hard enough that it drew blood.
“Open your eyes, I want to watch you when you come.” you moaned involuntarily at that, but kept your eyes firmly closed. She pinched your thigh, forcing your eyes to come flying open, a wicked smile gracing her lips. She eased back into you with three fingers and your mouth flew open, breath hitching in your throat, at the stretch and how amazing it felt, this delicate swirl of pleasure and pain. She stared intently into your eyes and then dropped down to your lips, watching the way they arched as she fucked you.
When she pressed her thumb to your clit, rubbing intently, your eyes rolled back into your skull, screaming out as your entire body convulsed and shook, your hips almost levitating off the counter. You wanted to cry, scream, and even laugh. How was she so good at that?
She pulled her fingers out before you could continue to ruminate on it, drawing your attention back to her standing in front of you. You gripped her wrist, looking at her through hooded lids, raising her hand to your mouth as you cleaned off her fingers, one at a time.
“What am I going to do now?” she murmured, as she watched you take her fingers into your mouth, your tongue swirling around them.
“Hmm?” you were only fractionally listening to her, too consumed on the taste in your mouth and the look on her face as she watched you.
“I still want a taste” she purred, and you simpered as you laid back, blissed out. Wondering if it would always be like this, that every time she touched you, would leave you this breathless, this bone-weary.
“So, dirty talk huh?” she ran the palm of her hand over your stomach, and you could hear the infliction of laughter as she spoke.
“Shut up” you giggled, swatting her hand away. As you laid there, you heard her moving around and then the sound of something being put on the floor in front of you. You sat up, and laughed when you saw it was a stool. She raised her eyebrows at you, smirking as she pulled it forward and sat down, gripping onto your calves as she pulled you forward, and rested them on her shoulders.
“You can try, but I won’t be able to come again so soon.” You murmured softly as you gently wove your hands through her hair. Scratching at her scalp and tugging on her tresses as she kissed up your thighs.
“Yes you can.” she gazed up at you, a smug smile firmly in place as she spoke directly and frankly, even somewhat delicately when she kissed the inside of your thigh, resting her head where she had just kissed, gazing up at you, as if she was asking permission to continue.
“Knock yourself out” you shrugged in disbelief, being polite and not wanting to damage her ego, you expected her to tire herself out after half an hour or just there after, but instead you were shocked, and almost excited, when less than ten minutes later, you were crying out once more, shuddering as you gripped her hands, spilling into her mouth and once more onto her tongue, another wave washing over you.
Tumblr media
“So last night was a lot” she spoke softly from her position across from you, leaning against the counter, her eyes not yet meeting yours, staring into the distance as she raised her mug to her lips.
“Pent up sexual frustration, Rita.” you rolled your eyes, and she laughed for a moment before her tone changed, becoming softer and quieter as she looked at you.
“It wasn’t too much was it?” she hesitated “I mean, I should have probably…”
“What?”
“Asked you before I-” Oh, so that’s what she meant. She was skirting around saying it fully aloud, maybe out of some form of prudishness or out of some innate need to protect you, or maybe it was because despite her brash outward demeanour and facade, this was who she truly was at the core of her being, tender and gentle, and maybe just a little demure underneath it all.
“-Strapped me?” you brashly interrupted her, shrugging as you reached for your mug, and she started choking on her own breath, much to your amusement. “You did ask”
“I should have been slower… more gentle… checked in with you more.” she fiddled with the handle of the mug in her hands, and you could recognise the seeds of doubt she was planting in her own head.
“Rita” you said her name gently, coaxing her attention back to you. “If I had wanted that, I would have stopped you, and we would have had a conversation.” you watched as she exhaled and her features softened, some of the tension she was carrying beginning to ease.
“Is that what you really wanted last night? Something more akin to earlier this morning?” you searched her eyes, trying to catch a glimpse of the truth, and when she didn’t give you anything, you spoke once more, with more assertion this time. “You told me… well showed me. You showed me what you wanted, it was hot.” she smiled then, and the light in her eyes changed.
“So do you want pancakes?” she asked as she put the now empty mug down, and pushed off the counter to stand in between your legs.
“You made breakfast?” you looked at her perplexingly, she wasn’t, by her own admission, the greatest cook. You winced a little internally at the thought of having to feign interest in whatever she had prepared, or attempted to prepare.
“Don’t be ridiculous.” she laughed “I put an order in at Bubby’s.” and with that admission your stomach settled and you let out a quiet sigh of relief. “Okay, you don’t have to look so relieved.” she huffed, partially annoyed and partially amused.
“Come here” you tugged on her shirt “Thank you for not making breakfast.” you whispered teasingly as you kissed her.
Tumblr media
The two of you never managed to leave her apartment over the weekend, seemingly losing track of time. When you weren’t in bed, you both snacked, and ate where you could, take out dropped at the door, pizza consumed on the living room floor.
The nights were spent drinking red wine and listening to her record collection, talking and debating, much like you had done for years, except this time, you couldn’t control yourselves, and neither of you wanted to. You both yearned to learn every part of one another. You’d make it maybe halfway through an album, or a conversation, if you were lucky, before your eyes would consume one another, and your lips would devour the others’.

You loved going to all of Rita’s court cases. The way she cross-examined suspects and her overall demeanor in the courtroom was impeccable. Just like Sonny, you were interested in being an attorney, but while he was getting his tips from Rafael, you were getting yours from Rita.
Time well spent.
You would write down everything Rita told you because you knew it would come in handy one day, whether you anticipated it or not.
On top of that, you wrote down the things you observed during trials. How she delivered her opening and closing statements, how she called objections, how she handled cross, and so much more. You genuinely loved everything about her.
It was safe to say you were a tad bit obsessed with her.
Things started to change as your relationship with Rita became more than professional.
Rita would ask you if you wanted to grab drinks with her, and you would say yes. During those outings, the two of you were intoxicated just enough to shamelessly flirt with each other, but it was in a cute, innocent way. Of course you loved it, but it pained you a bit when you sobered up that she may not have actually meant what she said and did.
The going out for drinks started to become a part of the two of y’all’s routine, and it even escalated to dinner “dates” at one point.
“You’ve been dressing up a lot more lately. Someone you’re trying to impress?” Your friend asked you one night when you were getting ready at their place to spend another night out with Rita.
“No, let’s not put it that way.”
“Okay… but if you get laid, please fill me in on the deets. And be safe.”
You smiled, responding with a thank you.
All while secretly hoping you were gonna get laid.
•••
When you walked in the restaurant and laid eyes on the one and only, you could tell she was stunned. In a good way of course.
“Y/N, you look amazing.” Rita commented when you got closer to her.
“And you as well.” You smiled back.
You sat down across from her and it was just like old times within a few short moments. Chatting about anything that came to mind and sipping on martinis while waiting for the food to arrive.
The energy was the same even when the food came. Towards the end, when it was time for the bill, you felt a sudden urge to release your burrowed emotions.
“I think I might be in love with you.” You blurted out.
Rita turned a few shades of red and smiled. “In love with me?”
“I admire a lot of things about you.”
Suddenly, Rita’s hand met yours and shock waves went through your body. Her hand was soft and dainty, and it was the best feeling ever.
“How about you show me how much you might be in love with me?” Rita asked.
Oh.
A grin crept up on your face. “And how exactly would you like me to do that?”
“Well, let me pay the bill, and i’ll show you exactly how I want the rest of the night to go.”

Law & Order: SVU - You meet again (Preferences)
Classification: Fluff
Pairing: Alex Cabot, Casey Novak, Liz Donnelly, Olivia Benson and Rita Calhoun
Warnings: None
Word count: +900
Alex Cabot
Tumblr media
- It's been 18 years since you saw each other in person, during your teenage years you kept sporadic contact through letters and phone calls. You felt proud of her every step, supporting her in all the courses, internships, sleepless nights studying, but two months before high school graduation the blonde cut ties abruptly, there were many unanswered phone calls and letters that returned or were never answered. This didn't stop you, years later, from sending one last letter to congratulate her when you heard that Alex had graduated in Harvard, her dream since you were kids. In the meantime you went on with your life, graduated, bought a house in Texas and got married at 30, divorced at 32, the dream house was sold and you started your own business in NY, a coffee shop in a good spot. Weeks after opening a group of detectives walked in and you immediately recognized a blonde head accompanying them. Much taller than you remember, wearing a feminine suit that fit her body well, eyebrows coming together in a thoughtful expression that you know well. She took a moment to choose something in the display case, and when she looked up, she was in shock. Your name escaped through her lips in a whisper.

- A simple softball game got you three days off work, a mild concussion and a pretty purple eye. The ADA visited you every day since the event, on the day you returned to work the veteran detectives made a few unfunny jokes about you being able to handle big men but getting knocked down by a ball, giving you slaps on the back in consolation for the attempt. At lunchtime you received a bouquet of yellow roses, a box of Swiss chocolate and a handwritten apology card inviting you to dinner to make up for the hospital trip. You had exchanged phone numbers at the hospital, so making the appointment was easy, finding a space in your professional calendar was not, and after two weeks you met at a restaurant a few blocks from your apartment.

- As you work together you frequently bump into each other in the hallways, there are always cordial greetings and brief conversations about the case you are working on, but nothing beyond that. Two months go by quickly, you seem to have fallen in everyone's favor and perform your tasks with competence, making Alex proud and excited to celebrate your work, especially for being your first formal job in the law area, you meet after work in a chic Manhattan bar, not far from the office. About 15 minutes later another blonde joins you, dressed more casually than usual, a smile painting her lips as she walks toward you after meeting you by happenstance. "Well well well, Cabot and her ward, so what are we celebrating? I'll pay for the drinks."

- The same night of the misunderstanding the Captain sends you a message apologizing for the situation in front of your house. You talked for a few more minutes and she thanks you for always being the one with Noah on the occasions she can't, in the end you agree to let the kids meet on a weekend after their punishment. For your children it was long, but just two weeks forbidden to go out play after school and video games. Evelyn was anxious, running around the house to make sure everything is ready for Noah's arrival, initially you had arranged with the Bensons to meet at the park but the rainy weather made you change your plans, finally deciding on a day of board games. Catan, El Dorado, Detective, Monopoly, even Jenga and Twister, there is a table full of snacks and treats, a wine is kept in the back of the cupboard in case Olivia enjoys it, you don't know what they like so you buy everything. At the appointed hour the doorbell rings and you find mother and son as excited as you are. It would be a fun day.

- She didn't show up for weeks, every Tuesday you drove customers to other tables to reserve that special one in the hope that Rita would show up, which didn't happen. After the fourth Tuesday in a row you gave up. The new manager didn't harass you anymore, while he didn't make things easy at work, denying you overtime and events that usually pay a little more, after all, the generous tip from those rich people is what pays your bills. You chose to resign when you realized that there was no advantage or anything that bound you there, the emergency fund lasted long enough until you got another job, this time in an Italian restaurant, not as fancy as your previous job but much more welcoming. Monday is usually a slow day, you found out after two months as a waitress, so you are alone with the chef, working overtime late at night when she enters the homely environment, looking out of place in her expensive suit and high heels worth a rent. "Miss Calhoun?" you whisper, an involuntary smile on your lips. "I told you to call me Rita, sweetie." she sits up and signals for you to come closer. "What are you doing here? Forgive me, but this restaurant… it's not up to your level, it's not fancy." deep down you wait for the answer that comes next, not being able to think of any other explanation for her being on the other side of the city alone on a week day. "I came after the service of my favorite waitress."

Summary— Rita gets hurt badly and ends in the hospital. Her two closest people, you and Rafael, come running. But you’ve never met each other, and now your partner’s and his best friend’s life hangs in the balance…
Mommy… Master List
Requests & Prompt-List
Warnings: angst, then fluff, heavily implied physical assault, hospitals, near death experiences, bruising, implied scarring, crying, hyperventilating, implied anxiety attacks, happy fully ending, etc.
Enjoy (;
You rubbed your temples with a sigh as you stared at her dull computer screen and flipped the pages of your extensive notes. You was violently pulled out of your doctoral thesis research by the sound of your cell phone ringing. Eager for a distraction, you swiftly picked up the phone.
“Hi this is is Y/N!”
“Hello Ma’am. I am calling from Mercy Hospital, I have you listed as an emergency contact for one Rita Calhoun?”
Your heart dropped. Rita? What had happened? Was she okay??
“What happened? Is she okay??”
“She was brought in about 30 minutes ago… She’s currently in surgery, pretty banged up. I am just making my rounds and contacting her emergency numbers in case.”
“Ok thank you so much, I’ll be there in 15 minutes” you hastily replied.
As soon as the call had ended, you jumped up from your chair, your heart racing and your mind spiraling. You scurried around her apartment, collecting things that you or Rita might possibly need at the hospital, throwing all the miscellaneous items into a bag before storming out of the apartment. You were swift to hail a cab once out on the city streets, eagerly giving the address of the hospital. Was Rita going to be okay? What if they lose her before you got to the hospital?
The words hospital and surgery made your stomache sink. Your hands felt like they were going numb, and your mind seemed to only be able to come up with the worst possible scenarios on what could have happened to Rita. You bit at her lip anxiously, and you closed her eyes for the rest of the cab drive, too overwhelmed to bear the stimulus of sight at the moment. Did this have to do with Rita’s job? Maybe an ex-client or someone who’d threatened her? What was the last thing she said to Rita…??
As soon as the cab stopped outside of the hospital, you paid the driver and rushed inside the bustling ER doorway. You immediately found a nurse and asked about Rita, who led you to the waiting room for trauma surgery, a separate, more secluded area of the hospital. The nurse had not been able to tell you much, besides the fact that Rita was still in surgery. So you anxiously paced the little waiting room, biting your fingernails and feeling like you wanted to cry. ‘Pretty banged up’, how badly was her partner hurt? Why were you the only one here??
Memories of you and Rita flooded your mind. You remembered when you two first met, it was only a couple years ago, but you had grown so close since. You thought of all the late nights that you two had spent together, laughing and drinking until both of you couldn't keep your eyes open anymore. You remembered how much Rita worked, just how passionate she was about her job. And now in a matter of 15 minutes that could all be ripped away from you? Rita taken from so swiftly, so cruelly?
You approached the nearest nurses station and asked about your partner again. As you were trying to pry any and all information out of this poor young nurse, a man stormed into the waiting area. You had the slightest sense that she knew him from somewhere, but as he was pacing the room furiously, muttering certain choice words in Spanish, you couldn’t quite place it. Then the man came up to the desk where you were standing and spoke. What if these were Rita’s last waking moments…? How could you live with yourself if Rita didn’t make it…?
“Hi. Do you have any information about Rita Calhoun and how she’s doing?” The man asked rushedly.
Now that he was right next to you and after revealing he knew Rita, it clicked for you. This was Rafael, Rita’s best friend from her college years. The two had never formally met, you had seen a picture or two of him in Rita’s apartment (from the many nights that you’d had dinner and stayed over) and you had only heard about Rafael when Rita elected to talk about him. You knew that while they were good friends, there were wounds in their personal pasts, so you never pushed to meet him. Had Rafael and Rita ended on good terms in the last time they talked? Did he know if this was work related…??
“You’re Rafael…” you managed to breathe out.
You were surprised that you had even been able to get out one word with the lump in your throat. Rafael turned from the counter to face you, giving you a quizzical and slightly defensive look. How could this have happened? It had been going all so well, and now with a simple call, life has turned upside down…
“Yes. And you are?”
“Y/N. Rita’s partner.”
Rafael’s brows raised and his eyes glistened with intrigue. He seemed to decide that you were alright, because he sent you a confirming nod, before going back to grilling the nurse for more information. Had Rita been threatened…? Attacked? Taken??
Trying desperately not to cry in front of him or the hospital staff, your knees suddenly began to feel weak. Before you could catch herself, your legs buckled and you collapsed on the cold, hard, hospital floor. Rafael was quick to turn back towards you, giving you his hands to help stabilize your overstimulated state. Your weak form managed to make it to one of the waiting room seats, where Rafael promptly sat next to you. It was then that you noticed how much your entire body was shaking. Rita couldn’t die… No, she couldn't die… It just… She couldn't it…
“I… I didn’t know Rita had a partner.” He stammered aloud, breaking the silence of the two of you sitting in the hospital, both equally nervous wrecks.
You shrugged in response, not having the wherewithal to respond to that at the moment. Silent tears finally began to stream down your face, as you started to let it all out. You curled forward, holding your head in your hands as you sobbed for what felt like hours. How would you ever be happy again? You would never move on. You couldn’t. Rita was your everything… You couldn’t face losing her…
“I don’t know what I’ll… d-do if… If Rita…” you stuttered, not able to finish your statement, as your voice returned to choked sobs.
You felt a soft and gentle touch on your back, making you uncurl and meet Rafael’s own reddened gaze.
“Rita is one of the strongest, hard ass people I know. Ever since school… I have never seen a fighter quite like her. If anyone will make it, it’s her.”
“Thanks” you croaked out.
Awkward silence took the room, the only sound being the hustling and bustling of the hospital. Rafael eventually removed his hand from your back, as it began to feel like he was overstepping. But the second you lost that touch, you seemed to only feel worse.
“Do you know w-what h-happened…? Or w-why…?” You stammered out in a whisper.
Rafael leaned forward, his forearms coming to his knees with a heavy sigh.
“I know that she’s been facing scrutiny and backlash for the last case she took. but besides that I don’t know…” he breathed out.
You pulled your knees up onto your chair, wrapping your hands around your body for some semblance of control and comfort, as you let out a shaky sigh.
“S-so it is work related…?”
“I don’t know, Y/N, I’m sorry… Truthfully, I hadn’t talked to her since she took that case, I was the lead prosecutor and we… we had a bit of a fallout over it…” Rafael gritted out.
His defensiveness seemed to have vanished, all that being left being the vulnerable, close friend of Rita’s. His knuckles were white from how hard he was squeezing his hands.
“Christ the last thing I probably did was yell at her to get out of my office…” he confessed, looking down to the ground with shame and guilt.
“I… I can’t even r-remember what the last thing I said to her was…” you choked out through violent sobs.
Rafael looked up at your wailing and his hand came out, caressing your shoulder lightly. He squeezed your trembling form reassuringly.
“I’m sure you told her how much you loved her…” he softly comforted you.
“I don’t know… I d-don’t know…” you changed in a whisper, starting to rock back and forth anxiously in the seat.
“Hey. Take some deep breaths… She’s going to be okay.”
Your glossy eyes met his reddened ones and you two just connected. All because of Rita. You were so grateful that she had found a friend like Rafael. And Rafael was grateful that she had someone like you to support her as a partner. Suddenly you were both drawn back to the crushing reality by a nurse coming up to you with a file in hand.
Rafael immediately stood and walked right up to her, demanding answers. You couldn’t get yourself to stand, so you merely looked up at the two standing adults with pleading eyes.
“Are you family?”
You both nodded vigorously.
“How is she? What happened?? Can we see her…??” Rafael demanded.
“EMT’s responded to a Good Samaritan call who found her in an alley… The ambulance brought her here to Mercy and she’s been in surgery ever since. It was a little touch and go, she has a concussion, multiple lacerations, a four broken ribs, scattered bruising, and a shattered left forearm…”
Your mouth went dry at the nurses words and you couldn’t think as tears began to stream down your face once more. Your lip trembled as you bit it, attempting to stifle your sobs.
“Can we see here??” Rafael immediately asked.
“Yes you may see her, she’s finally out, and she’s somewhat awake. I’ll take you to her, But take it slow, she has a long road to recovery…” the nurse said.
Rafael let out a sigh of relief and he quickly turned to you. Extending his arm, he helped you up and down the hall towards Rita’s private room. The nurse let you in, closing the door behind the two of you.
Rita looked peaceful for a moment, lying in the bed, but as she began to wake up, pain flooded across her face. Practically all of her exposed skin was bruised and battered, the biggest being her black eye. Her eye widened as much as she could widen them at the sight of you and Rafael.
“Holy fuck…” Rita winced in pain as we tried to sit up.
You immediately rushed next to her, sitting at the edge of the bed. The older brunette leaned back again, giving up the idea of sitting up properly for her moment, instead meekly attempting to reach out to you with her right hand, and you eagerly met her more than half-way, taking her hand and kissing it over and over again as tears of joy steamed down your cheeks.
“Rita Rita… God I’m so glad you’re okay… How are you feeling…?” you whispered, continuing your love and tender assault on her hand.
“Hi baby… I’m… in a whole lot of fucking pain, but I’ll live…” she breathed out in confession.
Rita smiled lightly back. But even that seemed to hurt her, as she winced lightly again. Rafael was standing at the end of the bed with his hands in his pockets as he watched the two of you. His eyes softeners watching your dynamic, he scolded himself for being so goddamn stubborn. Because if he hadn’t been, Rita might have introduced him to you…
“Oh Baby don’t move, stay still. Doctors orders you need to rest. Don’t want you getting more hurt…” you pleaded caringly and with much love.
“She’s a stubborn hardass. Doctor’s orders won’t stop her…” Rafael teasingly cooed, meeting Rita’s gaze.
Rita rolled her eyes at her closest friend.
“Shut up, you idiot… Now come over here and hug me.” Rita shot back with the same teasing tone.
Rafael chuckled, looked down to the ground as he made his way around to the opposing side of the bed, releasing his hands from his pockets, the man leaned over and gave his friend a proper embrace.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry… I’m so glad you’re alive” Rafael whispered to Rita, before retracting slightly, but staying close and gazing at her caringly.
Rita wanted to cup his cheek and pull him close, tell Rafi that it was all good, but her drugs were at a heavy dosage and soon they began to pull her back into unconsciousness.
“It’s… okay Rafaellll…—” she mumbled before dozing off.
Your gaze then met Rafael’s, coming to an understanding that neither of you would be leaving anytime soon.

Rita knew she was home late, having worked through dinner and then gone for plea agreement drinks with an ADA from White Collar, but she didn’t expect to come home to such a quiet dark apartment. You were a natural night owl, often up into the late hours of the night, the television on a low rumble while you tidied up around the house, caught up on work or binged through something in Rita’s book collection. Even if you were out, she was used to Rafael motoring his way through piles of paperwork at the kitchen island, indulging in a very late dinner or Spanish ramblings coming from the other room as he had his weekly phone call with Lucia. Most days she came home late the two of you were some degree of tangled together on the couch, a glass of scotch in Rafael’s hand while the other scribbled through questioning, simply enjoying each other’s company in mainly silence.
Letting out a soft sigh she slipped out of her blazer, leaving it draped over the back of the couch while her bag was lightly dropped onto the cushions, when she spotted a bottle of wine on the coffee table and that spurred on her taste buds. Wandering back to the kitchen she pulled out a bottle of red, pouring herself a glass, a happy hum escaping her lips as she took the first sip, shoulders relaxing as the stress of the day finally began to wash away. She pulled the clip out of her hair, shaking it loose, fingers combing through the loose curls as she meandered down the hallway. She noticed the door to the home office cracked, a sliver of light coming from within it and her lips curved up into a smile, figuring Rafael was working away inside. Once in the bedroom she took out her earrings, slipping off the rest of her jewelry and placing it into the appropriate spots in the jewelry box. She scooped up the glass of wine, heading back toward the office with the thought of enticing Rafael away from work in favour of a drink and some positive socialization.
When she approached the door she heard a small giggle come from within, your voice murmuring softly along with Rafael’s and her lips curved up into a smirk. She was no longer wondering where you’d ran off to, you no doubt were already trying to drag Rafael out of the office and back to the couch where the half bottle of wine still sat. She pushed the door open and her brow raised at the sight in front of her, Rafael was, of course, sitting behind his desk, sleeves rolled up, shirt unbuttoned, tie and suspenders already gone. It was more you she was amused by, perched in his lap, facing her, your cheeks flushed, lips kiss swollen. Your eyes widened as you noticed her in the doorway and Rafael swore quietly, attempting to catch his breath before you managed to find your voice.
“You wouldn’t by chance believe me if I told you this wasn’t what it looks like?”
Rita chuckled, her eyes darkening as she stepped into the room, “oh really?” She cocked a brow in your direction, “you’re telling me you didn’t come in here all dolled up in a pretty little sundress to taunt Rafael? Get him all hot and bothered, distracted from his work?” She bent down, scooping up your discarded panties from the floor, letting them dangle from her finger as she approached the desk, “I’m so sure you’re intentions were innocent and you had no plans of his cock being buried in that pretty little pussy of yours, did you?”
Now standing in front of the two of you Rita’s free hand pinched at the hem of your dress, pulling it up to expose your bare cunt where Rafael’s skin met yours, your juices coating him and your thighs. Rita let your skirt drop, her eyes moving from where you were joined up to your face, a smirk on her lips.
“Always look so beautiful nice and full.” She leant back against the desk, crossing her arms over her chest, looking to Rafael, her head tilting, “well… don’t stop on my accord. Get the poor girl off.”
Rafael’s hands tightened around your waist, leaning back in his chair as his hips rocked up and you began to gently bounce on his cock again.
“Fuck…” You muttered; your eyes fluttering shut for a moment before you felt Rita’s hand cupping at your cheek gently. Her thumb rubbed at your chin affectionately before it traced your lips and you looked up at her, your lips wrapping around her thumb, sucking it into your mouth.
“Good girl.” She praised, pushing the digit deeper into your mouth, “always so skilled with your mouth aren’t you?”
“You know she is.” Rafael grunted, thrusting deeper into you and you let out a low moan.
“Well we should put it to good use then, shouldn’t we?” Rita’s hand disappeared from your mouth, slipping under her skirt to rid herself of her own panties letting them drop to the floor before she bunched up her skirt, settling on top of the desk, her pussy bare and on display as she spread her legs. You let out a louder moan and she chuckled darkly, “is he throbbing inside of you?” Her eyes darted to Raf, “like what you see?”
“Yes...” He groaned back.
“Figured I may as well have some fun too,” her hand stroked at your head, “lean forward darling.”
Rafael shifted, standing from the chair as his hold on your hips tightened, keeping you upright and in the right position as Rita relaxed on the desk and he flattened your back out, watching your hands brace against her thighs. He felt his cock twitch at the eagerness you presented, hands already tracing patterns across her skin, your pussy fluttering around him as he kept a steady deep pace of his thrusts. Rita quickly placed her hands on the desk behind her, supporting her weight as she leant back, feeling your lips press a quick kiss to her inner thigh before you bit into the supple skin and she let out a small hiss.
Your hands curled around her thighs, fingertips soothing back and forth as your surged forward, your tongue wide and flat as you licked her folds from bottom to top, flicking at her clit and she let out a satisfied moan. Behind you Rafael gave a particularly powerful thrust and you whined out, your nose bumping her clit with the forward push. He let out a small chuckle, watching your face bury between her legs as you started to eat her out with expertise, tongue plunging into her, eager to get her juices spread across her cunt and smeared over your lips.
“Fuck darling…” A hand came to tangle into your hair, “that’s it, you know just how I like it.”
“Mmmhmm.” You mumbled into her, sucking her lower lips into your mouth as your tongue probed into her, little whines and moans sending vibrations into her pussy, making her body shiver as Rafael continued to thrust into you. He began alternating pumps, throwing in the occasional swirl of his hips, his cock brushing right against the sensitive spot within you, your fingers clenching harder at Rita’s thighs.
You could feel Rita getting wetter with each ministration of your tongue, her moans getting more and more breathy as you continued. You couldn’t see her, but Rafael could, her head thrown back, her hips rocking toward the edge of the desk in time with your motions, matching the pace he was fucking you. Her sleeveless blouse was riding down as her back arched, the curve of her chest peeking out more each time she took a breath, her chest heaving, a shimmer of sweat breaking out across it.
“God you’re so fucking beautiful like this.” He muttered, a hand spanking gently at your ass before he squeezed the flesh, “both of you. Fuck.” His hips faltered as you clenched around him and he let out a moan, “always take me so well querida, tight little pussy loves this cock, doesn’t it?” His next thrust was more aggressive as he began to pick up the pace a little bit, rocking your body out of line and you surged upwards to not crash directly into Rita.
“Yes! Fuck. God I love it.”
Above you, Rita chuckled, her hand pinching at your chin, “oh darling, you’re always so good for us. You know, we should really stuff you full one night soon. How would you like both of our cocks at the same time? I think you’d rather enjoy that.”
“I would. Please ma’am.” You nodded quickly before ducking between her legs again, eager to show her just how much you would love to be used like a toy between them, even more so than right now.
“That’s my good little princess.” She cooed, letting out a gasp when your lips wrapped around her pulsing clit, sucking the nub into your mouth, “fuck! Oh god… I’m close.. more, darling.”
Hearing her words Rafael picked up his pace once again, hips slapping against your own with each thrust he gave you. You moved one hand from her thigh to her pussy, swiping two fingers through her folds, coating them in her wetness before you plunged them into her cunt.
“Shit!” She swore, her head dropping back once again as your fingers pumped inside her in the same tempo that Rafael’s cock plunged into you. Your fingers twisted, curling as your mouth continued its motions on her clit, tongue flicking across it as you sucked her.
You could feel the coil building deep within you, the fire coursing through your veins at the pleasure both of them were bringing you. You would never say no to being used like this, you would happily eat Rita out for hours on end, you had before and you’d do it again. Usually Rafael would watch from the chair across from the bed, lazily thrusting into his hand until he came across your tits or into your mouth, but having his cock buried in your tight cunt was a whole new level of sensation. You could feel sweat coating your skin and you half wished you’d decided to forgo the dress, being completely bare while the two of them were still dressed would be a different type of pleasure all together. If you’d had any sense in your brain you would’ve tucked the idea away for later but between Rita’s juices and the power of his thrusts you were nearly senseless already.
Rita’s hand tightened in your hair, shoving your face harder into her cunt as your fingers began to curl with each thrust, pushing into her g-spot with each pass. You could feel her squeezing around you, juices practically dripping down your wrist already as her hips continued to rock up towards the touch. Her eyes were tightly squeezed shut, string of swears and throaty moans escaping her lips as her chest heaved, pleasure coursing through her body higher and higher with each thrust of your hand.
“Fuck…” She groaned out and Raf spanked you again.
“So good querida, make her come.”
You crooked your fingers again, this time lingering on the sensitive spot right as you gave a powerful suck to her clit and Rita cried out, her thighs threatening to close around you as her orgasm washed over her, body trembling as she almost lost strength to keep herself upright on the desk. She shuddered as your fingers slipped out of her, your tongue kitten licking at her pussy to clean up the mess you’d made smeared across it and her thighs. You half straightened up, letting out a moan as Rafael plunged into you faster now, one hand still braced on Rita as you caught her eye, sucking your fingers into your mouth and cleaning them of her wetness.
“So good darling.” She panted, her hand caressing at the side of your cheek before her gaze turned to Rafael, “pull her up all the way, she’s almost there.” His hand grabbed at your shoulder, pulling you flush to him and you let out a moan, his cock hitting deeper within you, brushing past your g-spot at a whole new angle.
“Oh god!” You yelped, “Raf.. more… please.”
His free hand wrapped around you, shoving up the skirt of your dress to pinch at your clit, rubbing furiously at it as you clenched down around him your juices dripping down your thighs. You were so close, the fire about to burst from right under your skin when Rita slipped off the desk, quickly fixing her skirt before she tugged down the top of your dress, your tits popping out over the hem. Her hands slid up your body before cupping your chest, rolling your nipples between her thumbs and fingers, a smirk on her lips as you suddenly couldn’t keep your eyes open. The triple sensation was rocking through your body, your eyes clenched shut as you yelped, your pussy pulsing harder and harder, Rafael’s cock throbbed inside you and you were seeing stars. You did your best not to collapse against either of them, trying to stay upright as he fucked harder and faster into you, chasing his own release.
“Shit!” He grunted, “oh god… so fucking wet.” He groaned, his own eyes fluttering shut, “gonna come…”
“Come inside her.” Rita offered with a shrug, “I think you deserve it once in a while.” Her hand pinched at your chin, “think she’d like that. Wouldn’t you?”
You nodded at her, eyes barely breaking open as you panted, letting out a little whine and a moment later you gasped loudly at the feeling of Rafael’s cum painting your walls. He grunted, fucking into you a few more times until he finally stilled, shuddering at the way your cunt was continuing to flutter around him.
“Fuck…” he muttered, hands softly rubbing at your body, his lips coming to meet the soft skin of your neck, “you alright?
“Mmhm.” You replied breathlessly, turning your head to kiss him softly and his hand smoothed back a piece of your mussed up hair, “more than alright.”
“Seems like I should come home late more often.” Rita teased, pulling a chuckle from both of you, “now how about we get you cleaned up before bed?” Her hand softly pinched at your chin again and you nodded, whimpering as Rafael’s cock slipped from you and you could feel his cum leaking down your legs.
He laughed softly, watching his release for a moment before he swiped some of it up with his fingers, “someone definitely needs a bath.” He smirked before your lips wrapped around his fingers, sucking them clean with a quiet moan.
“Well, there’s a reason we have a three seater jacuzzi tub.” Rita replied with a shrug, a steady arm wrapping around your waist as she pressed a kiss to your temple, a hand squeezing at Rafael before she finally greeted him with a kiss.
Scooping up the abandoned pairs of panties and various drink glasses she guided you from the room, making sure you were on steady legs before she began to run the water into the tub, adding in whatever oils she deemed appropriate. It was in pure satisfied bliss that the three of you finally slipped under the water, letting the last of the day melt away as you truly enjoyed each other’s company as the evening came to a close.

Rita Calhoun x Reader
warnings: language, descriptions of violence, major injury to a character & i think this considered hurt/comfort with a teaspoon of angst.
an: I’d like to apologize if Rita is a bit ooc, it’s my first time writing her. Please be nice or I’ll cry lol.
The only thing you could hear in Rita’s office was the sound of her coffee cup shatter as it met with the hard marble floor.
“Oh my god.” She said as she almost fell. The only thing holding her up was her arm desperately grabbing her desk for support.
She had just gotten the worst call of her life from your captain Olivia Benson. Olivia had called her and told her you were shot and in critical condition.
Rita quickly grabbed her coat and left her office as fast as she could. She quickly grabbed a ride to Mercy Hospital.
All she could think about on that ride to the hospital was the argument you two had this morning before the both of you left for work. All it was doing was replaying in her head over and over again.
“Rita, you seriously can’t be defending him.” You scoffed as you tied your tennis shoes.
“You and your squad do not know the whole story, (y/n).” Rita looked at you as she stirred her coffee.
“He is a rapist, Rita! You know that! He brutalized that girl!” You stood up and walked over to the kitchen counter.
You and the rest of the SVU squad were working a big case. Ryan Brown, the CEO of one of New York’s largest tech companies had viciously assaulted one of his young interns. You all knew he was guilty except your girlfriend, Rita. His new defense counselor. You understood she had a job to do but you couldn’t help but take this personally. You spent almost 12 hours interrogating him. Countless nights looking over evidence. You all put so much work into this case.
“You know this is just business, (y/n).” Rita tried reassuring you as she tried to put her hand on your shoulder before you pushed it away.
“Is it, Rita?” You replied coldly.
Rita was shocked but also started to get agitated with you. It was still so early and you were badgering her with questions about this case. She was also upset that you seriously believed this was a personal attack. Rita would never do that to you but also her client deserved the right to counsel.
“You know what, I’m going to head out because it is way too early to deal with this.” Rita said as she rolled her eyes. She started to grab her bag as she got ready to leave your shared condo.
“Deal with what? Deal with me?” You said as you continued to argue and follow Rita.
“Yes, deal with you. I should’ve never gotten involved with some rookie NYPD detective who doesn’t know a thing about the law.” Rita snapped. She closed her eyes immediately in regret. She couldn’t believe what she just said to you. She could see the tears well up in your eyes. “I need to go, I’m going to be late.” Rita added trying to keep her composure as she turned around to leave.
“Ma’am, we’re here. Mercy Hospital.” Rita’s driver snapped her out of her thoughts.
“Thank you.” She said as she exited the vehicle to the emergency room. Rita made her way to the waiting room. She immediately spotted Olivia and the squad.
Olivia’s eyes had widened when they met Rita’s “Rita, I-“
“Olivia, what the hell happened.” Rita interrupted Olivia, absolutely furious at how this could even happen.
“We don’t know. She’s in bad shape. She almost bled out in the ambulance, I couldn’t even get her to answer if she saw the shooter before she passed out. ” Olivia said softly. “Her and Rollins were on their way to meet a witness and someone from a window in the building across shot her. ” Olivia added in a broken voice.
“They just shot her?” Rita choked, trying to catch her breath. Her legs felt like jelly. “Where’s the bastard?” Rita asked, her voice colored in anger.
“We’re still looking. We have uni’s and other detectives surveying the perimeter and looking for this guy.” Olivia said, as she took a deep breath.
“You don’t have the person who shot her?” Rita’s voice raised. At this point the squad was walking over to see what was going on. “He shot her in broad daylight and you don’t have anyone? No one saw him?”
“Rita, we’re going to find him.” Olivia tried to calm Rita down.
“Olivia, I don’t care who I have to go through. If (y/n) doesn’t make it, I will sue the NYPD and I will have your badge.” Rita warned before she walked over to talk to the hospital staff about your condition.
“Liv, it wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t any of our faults.” Amanda placed her hand on Olivia’s shoulder.
“I know… She just needs some time.” Olivia said as she watched Rita sitting alone on the other side of the waiting room.
Nearly five hours had gone by and you were still in surgery. Rita wanted to vomit. She couldn’t lose you. You were everything. Yes, you guys had your arguments about work but you both made it work. Rita wouldn’t have had it any other way. She slumped deeper into the uncomfortable hospital chair. She closed her eyes, hoping she’d wake up from this nightmare.
“You look like you need this.” Olivia handed Rita a cup of coffee.
“Thank you.” Rita whispered, as she took a sip of the coffee.
“Rita, I’m sorry.” Olivia said as she sat in the chair next to her.
“You’re okay. I’m the one who should be apologizing.” Rita turned to look at Olivia. “I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that. I’m just so scared.”
“I know, we are too.” The captain added. “What’s really going on? I get a sense something else is going through your mind”
“Oh, Olivia. Who could fool you?” Rita let out a soft chuckle.
“Tell me.” Olivia insisted. She knew something was going on. Let’s be honest, not very many people can hide their emotions with the queen of empathy.
“(y/n) and I got into it pretty bad this morning over the Brown case. I basically told her I should’ve never gotten involved with her.” The tough defense attorney could feel a tear run down her cheek. She quickly wiped the tear away.
Olivia handed her a handkerchief.
“Thank you.” Rita sniffled.
“Rita, you said it out of anger.” Olivia placed her hand on Rita’s shoulder.
“If she dies, the last thing I ever said to her was that.” Rita had tears streaming down her face at this point. “I couldn’t live with myself.”
“(y/n) is a fighter. She is going to make it. You can’t let your mind run off with that idea, Rita.” Olivia tried her best to comfort Olivia. She’d be lying if she wasn’t worried about you. But she knew Rita would be absolutely devastated if you didn’t make it.
“I just want her to be okay.” Rita mumbled as she wiped her tears away with the handkerchief.
“She will be.” Olivia insisted.
A few more hours had passed before your surgeon came out.
“Ms. Calhoun and Captain Benson.” The doctor approached the pair and your squad. “She’s stable.”
Rita felt like she could finally breathe again. “Oh my god.” She said relieved. Relief filled the room.
“She’ll have full use of her leg, where she was shot but she’s going to need physical therapy before she’ll be able to get it back to normal again.” He explained. “She’s awake if anyone would like to go in.”
“Thank you so much.” Rita thanked the doctor before he left.
Olivia looked at Rita and said “Rita, you go first.”
Rita entered your room, quietly closing the door behind her.
Your lips curved into a soft smile as you both met eyes. “Hi.” You said softly.
Rita rushed over to sit next to your bedside, and gently held your hand. “(y/n), I’m so sorry. I just can’t believe what I said to you this morning and I just-” Rita tried to muster out trying her best not to choke up. Tears once again fell down her face.
“It’s okay, Rita. I’m not mad at you.” You cut her off. You held her face as you wiped her tears.
“All I could think about was you and if you didn’t make it how those were the last words I ever said to you.”
“You don’t have to worry about that anymore. I’m okay.” You held her hand, you tried to squeeze it with what little strength you had. “Did they catch him?” You asked. “It all happened so fast I didn’t even see him.”
“They haven’t, but I promise you when they do there’s gonna be hell to pay.” Rita assured you.
“I believe that.” You chuckled but then groaned in pain. “Damn, my fucking thigh.” Your face scrunched up. “Well, whoever the dumbass was had a horrible aim if all he could do was shoot me in the damn leg.”
“Oh, (y/n)!” Rita laughed. “You shouldn’t say that.” You had such a twisted sense of humor sometimes.
“Oh, but I bet this scar is gonna be so sexy.” You joked.
“You are such a masochist, I swear.” Rita playfully rolled her eyes. Rita reached over and gave you a gentle kiss on the lips. “I’m just so relieved.” She whispered to you gently petting your hair.
“I love you.” You smiled at her.
“And I love you.” She pecked your lips again.
“You know, you definitely didn’t deny the scar comment.” You teased Rita.
“Oh, we both know I love those thighs, scar or not.” Rita gave a soft chuckle as she kissed the top of that beautiful head of yours.

Possibly working on opposite sides and the others find out that you are dating a defence lawyer and them being all bitter about it and believing that you would bypass Rita stuff. And then realising that no matter who you are in a relationship with you still fight for you clients.

No one was supposed to find out yet. You and Rita hadn’t come up with any plans on how you’d present the news of your relationship yet, but it wasn’t supposed to happen like this. It was a rainy day and you and Rita weren’t working and were finally taking some time to be together. The two of you were sitting in a tiny coffee shop together, talking and laughing quietly. One of your hands was on the table and Rita was holding it.
Neither of you were really trying to hide it, but you also didn’t expect Olivia and Rafael to be walking by that shop, Rafael making a comment on how good their coffee is, but pausing when he saw you and Rita through the window.
“That… could be a problem,” Olivia sighed, quickly pulling Rafael past the coffee shop before you or Rita could see them.
“You don’t think that Y/N would… do anything, do you?” Olivia asked quietly.
“What do you mean?”
“I’m just worried about how whatever that was can effect futures cases. And our current one.”
“Rita’s smart… but so is Y/N. I don’t think that they’d date if they weren’t smart enough to know the issues that’ll come with it. And I’d hope neither becomes corrupted enough to help each other with their cases to see one win instead of the other.”
“I’m still going to talk to Y/N about it tomorrow.”
“Liv… do you really think that’s a good idea? That alone might compromise your case.”
Olivia sighed, “I know.”
-
You were at SVU the next day to speak with Olivia about some detailed on the case when she brought it up.
You were taken by surprise, “You saw us yesterday? Where?”
“In a coffee shop in Chelsea. You two looked… close.”
You sighed, your grip on your brief case tightening, “Look, I know what you’re thinking—“
You were cut off, “Do you?” Olivia questioned, “Because I’m thinking I shouldn’t be bringing you anymore cases.”
“Are you really questioning my ability to do my job?”
“Your relationship with Rita could get in the way of what you’re supposed to be doing.”
“You know me better than that, Olivia.” A silence followed for a few moments.
“I’m going to win this case, whether I’m going against Rita or any other defence lawyer. I’m on the sides of my clients,” You left her office before she could say anything else to you, not wanting to hear any more of her accusations.
Rita knew that you wouldn’t take it easy on her during the trial, and you knew she wouldn’t take it easy on you either. This wasn’t the first trial the two of you had gone head to head in, and Rita had won the last one. You knew that this case was a slam dunk, but your anger towards Olivia made you even more confident in yourself and the stacks of evidence against Rita’s client. Olivia was witness to the entire trial, watching you and Rita make sly remarks at each other during your cross examinations of each others clients. Rita was, well, Rita as usual. Olivia didn’t notice any different behaviours in the two of you, and it made her feel a little foolish for what she had said to you a few days previously. Especially when the jury came back after only a few short hours of deliberating with a guilty verdict, putting another win on your belt.
Olivia approached you after the jury was dismissed and Rita was speaking with her clients parents. “Y/N… good win.”
“Thank you,” You sighed, putting your papers away and closing your brief case.
“Im sorry that I doubted you.”
“You had every right to be weary… but I don’t like being accused of not being able to do my job properly just because of who I love.”
“Love?” Olivia quirked an eyebrow at you with a half smirk.
“Yes,” You gave her a small smile. “We were going to come out with it eventually, we just didn’t know when the right time was. It’s not really the easiest thing to bring up to your colleagues.”
“I understand.”
“I’m sure you do. Barba, huh?”
“I won’t confirm or deny anything.”
You chuckled as Rita approached the two of you, “Our reservation is in two hours. I’ll see you there?”
You nodded. Rita glanced at Olivia, “Nice to see you, Captain. I heard you and Barba found out… he’s been making comments all week. Might want to tell your boyfriend he’s going to get a briefcase to the head next time he says something,” She said before leaving a kiss on your cheek and walking out of the courtroom.
“Boyfriend? Really?”
“Please, Liv, it’s so obvious.”

Chapter 9 of Fade Into You
Warnings: Word crimes, thesaurus crimes, soft smut, fluff.
Pairing: Rita/Reader
A/N: Picks up directly after chapter 8. It's a little long sorry. I tried to write it the best way I could to describe what it feels like when you're hopelessly in lust with someone. But it's a little muddled. It wouldn't let me put a chapter title/header in, so idk, I guess it's untitled? Also I strongly dislike the series title, so if anyone has an idea for a new title please let me know.
I have most of this series written in dribs and drabs on a big working doc, but I don't really have a structure, so therefore I don't know how to connect it all yet. Also I don't think I'm very good at writing smut, and it sort of intimidates me. So it's hard to update more frequently because I overthink it and constantly rewrite.
Tumblr media
The two of you performed a delicate dance throughout the week, hidden glimpses as you passed one another in the halls, fleeting and restrained touches as you slipped past each other in doorways, lingering looks shared in an office wide meeting.
You caught her gaze once more as you walked past her out of the meeting, walking in the opposite direction, rounding the corner of a dimly lit hallway, the soft glow of the wall sconces illuminating your path, casting shadows as they danced across your features.
You leant against the wall, nearing the exit, as you waited. And for a brief moment, you considered giving up, with the thought that she hadn’t followed you, or had gotten caught up in conversation, then you saw her out of the corner of your eye.
You ran your eyes over her as she approached you, her long, warm and rich brown hair cascading down her back, her tailored suit that clung to her in all the right places, and the faint smile that tugged at the corners of her lips.
“Hi” she said in a low, husky voice, as she stood in front of you.
“Hi” you replied, your voice a little breathless.
You both stood there for a moment, your eyes locked in a silent exchange that spoke volumes. You felt a rush of heat spread through your body as you watched her gaze flicker down and then back up again. The attraction between the two of you was undeniable, and it hung in the air like a tangible force.
“Are you free on Friday evening?” Rita asked, breaking the silence, though her voice still held that seductive tone.
You nodded, or at least you thought you had, your words momentarily escaping you, before realising you hadn’t actually spoken or given her an answer. “Maybe, why?” you eventually answered.
“Rafa, against my many protests, has organised farewell drinks with some of the other staff at Whiskey Tavern.”
“That place is so not your scene.” You were right about that part, but you knew Rafael had most likely organised drinks there because it was a block away from the office, it was cheap and a pretty popular bar amongst the young District Attorney’s office staff. Exactly the sort of place that Rita would never be caught dead in.
“I know, but at least they have halfway decent scotch.” She took a step closer, closing some of the distance between you, her fingers brushing against your arm, the touch sending shivers down your spine.
“Plus you can’t really call yourself a New Yorker unless you’ve made out in their photo booth.” your eyes shone as you said it, and her gaze dropped down to your lips once more. She leaned in, just slightly, as if she was testing the waters. “I’ll see you on Friday” you whispered next to her ear as your cheeks brushed together, and you slid out from between her and the hallway.
Tumblr media
You pushed open the heavy wooden door, the soft ambient hum of conversation greeted you. Warm, dim lights bathed the room, revealing a mess of weathered wooden tables, each one crowded with company, and littered with peanut shells.
“Got stuck at the precinct, sorry I’m late.” you said brightly as you approached the table.
“Hey!” Rafael’s eyes widened as he greeted you excitedly, standing from the table to embrace you in a friendly, but hasty hug. “Sorry I haven’t had a chance to say hello at the office yet.”
“Don’t be sorry” you touched his arm and smiled sincerely “So, will we see you at Thanksgiving again this year? You know, to protect Rita from the wolves?” you teased and he grinned, from a mix of liquor and playful amusement.
“I think my mom would probably beat me senseless, if I missed another year.”
Across the table, Rita sat relaxed in her chair, her fingers tracing the rim of her glass. Her hair was pinned back with her natural waves flowing down over her shoulders, and her hazel eyes framed by dark lashes, locked onto you with an intensity that made her almost impossible to ignore.
Your eyes finally met, and a jolt of electricity seemed to pass between you both. The air thickened with anticipation as your gaze held for a moment too long. Rita’s lips curled into a knowing smile, as your heart raced just a little faster.
You tore your eyes away before it became apparent to everyone at the table that there was palpable tension between you both, saying a quick hello to people you didn’t quite recognise or remember, before offering to buy a round for the table, pointing at everyone one at a time as you memorised their order.
You settled into the open chair next to Rita’s after you dropped the tray of drinks into the middle of the table, leaving everyone to reach for them, while you and Rita exchanged false pleasantries. Rafael introduced you to the group as you sat, and Rita’s hand moved to your thigh, out of sight, something reserved for the two of you.
The hours melted away as her peers continued to share stories and amusing secrets, while the two of you shared stolen glances, your connection growing stronger with each passing moment. The bar’s dim lights cast shadows on your faces, enhancing the intrigue of the situation.
And when the conversations seemed to pair off and you found yourself speaking directly to her, your conversation danced on the edge of intimacy as you exchanged stories, lingering touches, and smouldering glances. The playful banter masked your desires, but every word and gesture secretly revealed the simmering passion that threatened to consume both of you.
Tumblr media
“Alright” you stood from your seat at the table, “Does anyone have a silver dollar?” you asked, holding your hand out flat and waving your fingers. One of them handed you the dollar out of their pocket, and after a thank you, you turned to Rita and tilted your head towards the opposite end of the bar. “You can’t leave the DA’s office without a memento.” you said with a glimmer in your eye, she knew almost immediately what you were alluding to, and so without hesitation, she followed you with intrigue.
As you both stepped inside the booth, the heavy curtain fell behind you, cocooning you in a private world of dimmed, flickering light. The soft hum of the booth’s machinery enveloped you, drowning out the noise of the crowded bar.
The camera counted down - three, two, one. The flash illuminated your faces, capturing a moment of shared vulnerability. And as it started to count down once more you both turned your heads, gazes heavy as they fell over one another’s lips, three, two, one. The flash went off and in that moment, you crashed together.
Your lips were greedy and you could taste the sugar that coated her tongue, a low moan escaped you and your arms wrapped around her shoulders, your fingers threading through her hair as you consumed one another.
Three, two, one. You both moved together, as the flash went off once more, your hands now scrambling for the others’ body, desperate to feel the touch of skin on skin.
“Do you want to get out of here?” she whispered against your ear, sending shivers down your spine. You swallowed, hard, and nodded in response. With that, you both knew the night had just begun, and the tension that had been building between the two of you was about to ignite into a fiery passion that neither of you wanted to resist, finally feeling free after all these years.
Tumblr media
Rita reached for your hips and you swung your leg over, fingers gripping onto her shoulders as you held yourself upright. She ran her hand along your cheek delicately, and her thumb traced along your lower lip, and as your swollen lips parted, you drew the digit in, encasing it and running your tongue over it. She was powerless not to moan at the sight, and ever so quick in arching her shoulders and craning her neck, exchanging her thumb’s place with her own tongue.
Rita reached down in between your bodies, her fingers moving through you, and into the pool of desire that awaited her, grinning at the wetness she found. Her thumb curled up to rub with intent over your clit, and you moaned into her mouth.
Your hands joined at the base of the toy, as you both lined it up with your entrance and you slowly sunk down, both of your gazes fixated on the sight of it, and you let out a shallow breath you’d been holding in your throat.
She felt the exact moment you relaxed and for a moment you were both still, your hips flush, eyes locked on one another. Until Rita gripped your hips and you rose up on your knees, as she drove a little further, a little harder, into you. Your eyes fell closed, and your mouth flew open and you went slack jawed. She shifted her hips slightly, allowing herself to feel the friction at the base of the strap, and the movement caused a loud moan to spill from your throat.
“Right there” you gasped, your nails raked down her back and she moaned in response, before reaching a hand around to deliver a sharp spank. The feeling of her hands on your skin, the soft contact, your chests pressed together, and breaths and moans fanning over skin, it all promised to overwhelm.
“Do that again.” you groaned, and instead of acting on your demand, she pinched you suddenly, and roughly on your inner thigh. You let out a high pitched whine and before you could even think to question her, you realised why she had done it. “Do that again, please.” you said slowly and deliberately, and you could almost hear her smirking with your eyes closed.
You moved your hands, one down to your clit and the other alternated across your chest, pinching and twisting. Her gaze followed your movements and she moaned as she watched you, feeling herself falling closer to the edge. She watched when your breathing started to become more erratic and frantic, and pulled your hand away from your clit, and you let out a loud whine, your eyes flying open, gazing down at her through hooded lids.
“Not yet” she said breathily, and you leaned back down to kiss her, your hands weaving around her neck. The kiss was a mess of teeth with little control or coordination, but it didn’t seem to bother either of you as you chased your peaks together.
She moved two of her fingers down to rub your clit, “Be a good girl and come for me”, and the combination of her words and her movements pushed you over the edge. When you came, your knees tightened against her hips and your back arched, right at the moment you heard her let out an almost feral sound.
Your tongues slid together lazily as you both came down from your highs, floating back. The room was filled with a serene stillness, a stark contrast to the frenzied passion that had just consumed you both.
Your hearts continued to race in tandem, gradually slowing down as you basked in the shared intimacy of the moment. You traced your fingertips gently along the curves of her body, your touch mirroring the depth of your own emotions, and everything left unsaid.
She raised her head up to look at you, her eyes filled with a soft, affectionate gaze. But it was fleeting, you noticed the moment she trapped her vulnerability from spilling further, and when the light in her eyes changed.
“Well that was a spectacular farewell.” she smirked and raised her eyebrows, and giggles erupted from both of you.
“You should quit every day.” and you both laughed
“You wanna go again?”
“Knees” you said, a mix of sighs and laughter.
Rita understood, and so she gently gripped your hips and shifted you both until you were on your back, with her on top of you, the heels of your feet resting against her back. She pulled all the way out and you groaned a little at the loss, and just as you went to ask for her to come back, she slid back in, with more force this time, and at a more intense pace.
Tumblr media
The room was cast in a tranquil hush, the remnants of your night still lingered distantly in the air, the warm sheets and her arms enveloped you. Then the shrill and incessant ringing of your phone shattered the fragile peace, jarring you from your shared cocoon of intimacy.
You blindly reached for it, feeling around the nightstand until it was in your hand, holding it up to your ear as you whispered in conversation with the detective on the other end. Your voice still carried the remnants of sleep, and their words, a blend of apologies and urgency, rudely awakened you to a new day. Rita kissed your shoulder, as you hung up the phone, and you turned in her embrace to drop a chaste kiss against her lips.
“I have to go get a warrant” you whispered as you pulled back, and she let out a drowsy sigh in response, nestling into the pillow beneath her head, you smiled as you drank her in. Her tousled hair that spilled across the pillow like a dark river, and her eyelashes that cast delicate shadows on her cheeks. You traced your fingers along the contours of her face, marvelling at the peaceful expression that adorned her lips.
Reality, however, began to nudge at the edges of your cocoon of affection. Responsibilities beckoned, and the detectives in the world outside were awaiting your arrival.
“I can feel you staring”, she murmured, stirring as her eyes fluttered open, and a sleepy smile met yours.
“Can I borrow some clothes?” you hummed, the urgency of time bore down on you, as you tried to savour this precious moment, etching it into your memory.
“Only if you come back with breakfast” she teased, another smile tugging at the corner of her mouth as she fought to repress a yawn, “Bagels.”
Tumblr media
You knocked softly on the car window, handing over the warrant to Fin as he wound down the window. “Brought you this as well” you smiled as you extended the coffee tray, he plucked one of the paper cups out with a thank you, as he stepped out of the car, and the two of you leaned against the doors, waiting on the other detectives and officers.
You looked off into the distance, taking in the city around you as it unveiled its quieter side. The occasional taxi hummed past, its yellow hue a vivid contrast to the still muted palette of dawn. A lone jogger, headphones in place, raced past you both, his feet pounding against the pavement, as if the sound was the slow heartbeat of the city, still in transition from the night’s revelry and the day’s responsibilities. Your mind cast back over the night, and you couldn’t help the involuntary smile that graced your features at the flashes of memories.
“You’re in a good mood.” Fin commented as he watched you, “You get laid last night?” and when you didn’t give him a verbal response, instead glancing down, a soft breath of laughter leaving you and your smile growing wider. He let out a low laugh, “Good for you.”, he commented with genuine candour. “Is it serious?”
“It’s all still relatively new, but it doesn’t feel new.” you reflected “It feels like we were always going to end up here. I don’t quite know how to describe it.”
“The two of you friends?” he asked, and you nodded softly.
“I don’t know if we were ever just friends though.” you murmured in thought, losing yourself in the threads of the past. “Sorry, I’m oversharing.” you shook your head, pulling yourself out of your own introspection.
“It’s cool.” he said without hesitation, and with authentic sincerity. “My old partner, back in Narcotics, was a woman. So, you can talk to me, if you want.” he tipped his head over to look at you “You’re part of the squad, we like you, you know? Stabler just has a hard way of showing it.”.
He was trying his hardest, and persisting through his stammering, to form a deeper connection with you. One that extended beyond the surface level of professionality that you all operated with.
“Thanks. I appreciate that.” You smiled at him, and put your hand on his shoulder for a brief minute, before the moment you were sharing was interrupted with the arrival of squad cars, and that same earlier responsibility beckoned.
Tumblr media
You returned back to Rita’s, letting yourself in with her keys as you juggled the brown paper bags cradled in your arms. You carefully set everything down on the counter, and bent down to remove your shoes.
Quietly walking down the hall, you ran your hands over the bedroom door, gently prying it open. You watched her for a fleeting moment, the soft rise and fall of her chest, and the peaceful expression on her face as she slept soundly. You hesitated on whether or not to wake her, but before you could make your mind up, she stirred amongst the sheets.
You walked over to her side of the bed and gently brushed a strand of hair from her forehead, planting a soft kiss there. “Good morning” you whispered, keeping your voice as soft and gentle as the morning light streaming in through the curtains. “Breakfast is on the counter.”
“Where’d you go?” her eyes flickered open, and she rubbed at them, trying to remove the traces of sleep.
“Well first I went Russ & Daughters for the bagels and appetizers, then to Ray’s for beignets, and then I dropped by the newsstand on the corner to get you the paper.”
“Mm thank you” she murmured with a suppressed yawn, she sat up, the sheets pooling around her, as she ran her hands through her dishevelled hair. “Which Judge did you wake up?”
“Ridenour”
“I bet he was mad.” her eyes widened just slightly for a moment, and she held back her laughter.
“That’s… putting it politely.”
“Judge Taten lives about ten blocks from here, and isn’t as cranky, for future reference. She even puts on coffee, and sometimes she’ll give you pastries.”
“Why didn’t you tell me that four hours ago? I went all the way uptown!” you hit her arm as your face contorted in irritation, and you looked at her with your mouth agape.
“I was asleep.” she shrugged, but the brief glimpse of a smile gave her away, revealing it was far more likely she had deliberately withheld that information. Presumably for her own amusement at the thought of you uncaffeinated, with a throbbing headache after a night of drinking and sex, being shouted at and scolded while she slept soundly.
She climbed out of bed, stretching out her arms and rolling the muscles in her neck as she suppressed a yawn. When she walked into her wardrobe, your eyes were glued to the back of her.
“Follow me” she tied the belt of her robe tighter around her waist, and beckoned you with one finger.
You did as she commanded and followed her down the hall and into what you presumed was her office, glancing around the room briefly as she unlocked her desk drawer and pulled out a worn leather notebook.
“This is my black book” she closed the drawer and turned back to you, holding the item in both hands, looking at you expectantly.
“Okay..?” you looked back at her confused, your eyes narrowing and your expression motionless.
“Let me rephrase.” she smiled as she looked away for a moment, then back to you. “This is a notebook with every sitting judge’s name, phone number, address. As well as the names and phone numbers of their clerks and assistants. There’s also notes under each Judge, their kid’s names, pets, hobbies, political affiliations, and so on.” She raised an eyebrow as she took in your reaction.
“How did you get this?” your eyes went wide and your mouth opened, almost in disbelief. It was a secret roadmap, one that would help you not only pick and choose which judge to grant you a warrant, but also how to pander to them in court and build up rapport with them; she was giving you the keys to winning.
“I didn’t ‘get’ it, I made it.” she scoffed “It took me a couple of years which is why-”
“Gimme” you reached for it, snatching, almost childlike, and she pulled it back, staring at you with a stern but amused expression.
“-Which is why, I have never ever shared its contents.”
“But… you’re now going to share it?... With me?” you spoke slowly, tilting your head to the side, trying to ascertain her intentions.
“You may borrow it for one week, to copy it and to make your own. But you are not to share it with anyone else, and I expect it back this Friday.” She slowly extended it, and right as you reached for it she pulled it back, and you looked back to her. “And you now owe me.” She smirked, knowing you had no choice but to agree to that term.
“I hardly think that’s fair considering I just brought you breakfast.” you rolled your eyes, and she went to put it back into her desk drawer until you snatched it. “Fine! Fine. I owe you.”
“And?” she looked at you expectantly.
“Thank you” you leaned in and kissed her, backing her into the desk. Your hands blindly reached for the tie on her robe, fingers gracelessly undoing the knot. “So this is how you always win.” you teased, whispering against her neck and you heard her scoff loudly before she smacked you.
“I always win because I’m the best.” she mumbled, her breath catching in her throat as your fingers swept over her stomach, tickling her.
“Yes, yes you are.” you murmured as you sunk down onto your knees, winking at her as you pulled her leg onto your shoulder.
