Having been on tumblr since 2011 (when i still had my old aEsTheTic cyberpunk blog) all those "here's how to tumblr right" posts are very funny to me and come with a lot of subjectivity. Tumblr was never a single entity, there were fandom blogs, art blogs, aesthetic and reference gathering blogs, all with their own styles of posting.

HAVING SAID THAT, reblogs are what runs this platform. It's like, the main gameplay mechanic, if you will.

If you don't want to clutter your artblog, you can always make a sideblog just for things you like or a specific fandom or whatever.

no but idk i just. am nice to people?? go and scream about their fics or their art or their posts and sometimes it clicks and y’all end up just talking about other stuff outside of that, and sometimes it doesn’t. i’ve been very fortunate that my coming in screaming and crying over some people’s work, or reaching out myself to people who have done that for ME on MY stuff, has made me some wonderful friends this year. there’s not a lot of premeditation to it yk? i like to make other people feel good about what they’re doing and if i make a friend in that, great! if not, i still feel happy that i could potentially make someone smile that day. you have to be okay with it not working out sometimes bc it doesn’t every time, you’re not entitled to someone being your friend just bc you’re nice to them or like their stuff.
