Modlite weapon lights
This weeks post is going to be about modlite weapon lights and why I am switching all of my weapon lights to them. For a few years now my go to has always been the stream light line of rifle lights. They are always a good light for the price and a great intro to weapon lights. One of the nice things about them is they pretty much come with everything you need they come with a Picatinny mound a clicky tail cap or a tape switch tail cap and they will get you going at a low cost and no hassle.
But what do you do if you want more than what the streamlight an offer. That’s where the more high-end weapon light companies step in. Things like your surefire, cloud defense, and my current favorite Modlite. My first one that I picked up second hand off Tac Swap is a FDE 18350 OKW weapon light. I was very impressed with the performance of the light had itself and the small compact size of it is fantastic for smaller rifle builds or pistol caliber sub guns.
Tumblr media
Some of the things that I really like about these modlites is just how customizable they are and the availability of different parts mounts switches caps etc. my 18350 is currently set up with the modlite clicks tail cap and it’s on a cheap arisaka knock off mount that I had in the parts drawer. I plan on switching the cabin mount and switch to something more like what my new modlite set up is which I will get into shortly. I really enjoy that unlike some other light companies these lights are interchangeable with a ton of different parts. They use the scout mount, They use surefire style tail cabs, I love that they use rechargeable batteries and if you buy the complete light kit it comes with one battery and the charger for them.
Now I will get into my newest weapon light set up that i picked up from brownells Thats on my odg geissele build. The light itself is a modlite 18650 okw light with a surefire ue tail cap. I do plan on changing the tail cap to the surefire ds very shortly. The mount is the arisaka I line scout mount which tucks up nice and tight to the mk16 rail at the 1:30 position. Again I do plan on switching the mount to the Unity light wing mount which will make sense with the switch that I am running. The switch is the Unity fusion hub/ modlite switch. I’ve really been really been digging this setup and I think I’ll like it a lot more when I switch caps and switch to the Unity mount.

Tumblr media
Now let’s get onto Performance, starting off with I’ll be honest I don’t have thousands of rounds through these rifles with these lights on nor do I run around every night using these lights. But I have used both of these a handful of times at night and the performance of them is outstanding. I will attach a photo underneath this paragraph that shows the beam pattern of my 18650 light hitting a tree line about 80 to 90 yards away. You can see the center hotspot of these OKW light heads is very intense in the overall flood of the rest of the beam provides a very nice circular outline of light.
Tumblr media
Overall I’ve really been enjoying these modlites and would highly suggest anyone looking for a good weapon like to head over to brownells and check them out. I’m excited to get more time using these lights because they are just so good. I might do a part two to this after a year or so of using it to give my opinion on them then.
Thanks for reading and happy shooting.

YOU BETTER GET THIS STRAIGHT WISE UP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! WE'RE NOT THREATENED BY YOUR LIES OR, YOUR GOOD-BYES!
SISTER SLEDGE - ALL AMERICAN GIRLS. 20 DECEMBER 2021.
One of those moments where a song inspires something kind of unrelated to the lyrics but is cool nonethless. I was still pretty new to drawing Elder-kun at the time, but I was really becoming inspired by certain Japanese Sky artists to improve upon how i drew them.
Items around him are Paracosm-related shenaniganry. Elder-kun. ♥

also like it’s just vibes but
I don’t think Combeferre is under any misapprehensions of being The Normal One or like...the Practical or Reasonable One
Courfeyrac is the Normal one. Enjolras is the pragmatic one. Combeferre is Chimeric
however
I think he very much does have a “let’s be Practical About This” mode where he tries to get very stern and focused and tries to act like the Pragmatic Rational One , it’s his Let’s Focus Now worksona that he uses when We Really Must Stop Getting Distracted
no one who has known him for more than fifteen minutes is ever fooled at all but he Tries

i'm changing tim's ts scar tattoos : triforce symbol → m4a1 under his right pectoral and a bullet with a vapor trail under his left pectoral. i think it better aligns with where he was emotionally at the time he got it ( angry , violent , and trying to turn himself into a weapon so that he could never be hurt again )

Hi. Personal opinion here but the way the Armada will literally just contort when hit then snap back to place a second later is horrid. Thanks.

This sabre is another one of those Georgian mystery swords that doesn’t quite conform to the rules modern day collectors like to apply to everything. Nominally it looks like a 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry officers’ sabre with a pipe-back blade.
A pipe-back blade is a style of blade that came into fashion in the very last years of the 18th Century. It is not known if the design originated in France or Britain, but it is likely that it is a modification of the T-cross section popular on the Kijiji swords of the Ottoman Empire. By re-enforcing the blade with a bar of steel, or ‘pipe’ along the spine, it allows for a thinner, sharper blade.
Tumblr media
While we see early examples of pipe-back swords, particularly among the officers of the light cavalry (although there are examples of heavy cavalry and infantry officer swords with them as well) it isn’t really until the 1810s that they came into any form of prominence. With the design becoming standard in later pattern swords.
Like many swords of the time, this one is un-marked, so it is impossible to determine its exact age. However small features like the lack of a yelman on the tip and the keyhole scabbard throat would roughly place it around 1810 – 1818.
Tumblr media
Most of the pipe-back sabres can be confidently attributed to the officers’ branch of service by the type of hilt, length of blade or what scabbard they have. This sabre, however, has a steel stirrup hilt, which could be rifles or light cavalry, however its’ blade at 805 mm is long for a rifles officer while short for a cavalry officer. The leather scabbard is unsuited for mounted use, but regulation for a cavalry officers’ dress sword and typical for a rifles officer. Of course, there were other mounted services that were issued the 1796 Pattern light cavalry sabre, such as the mounted artillery and the soldiers of the baggage train. So it could have belonged to an officer of either service as well, and in a way such a sword would made sense for a mounted artillery officer, who would normally expect to do most of his actual fighting on foot from a set position and need to defend himself while his guns were deployed. In contrast to the light dragoons, who would fight mostly from horseback.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ultimately, we are unlikely to ever know, but it is a quality sword showing the fine attention to detail the craftsmen of the era paid to their art to make a what is a fairly simple hilt stand out.
Overall Length: 925 mm
Blade Length: 805 mm
Grip Length: 110 mm
Inside Grip Length: 95 mm
Sword Weight: 630 grams
Total Weight: 1,010 grams
Point of Balance: 65 mm
Curve: 40 mm

New Light Guide to Scout Rifles
Tumblr media
I’m posting deranged scout stuff again.
The loot pool in D2 is so nonsensical rn that it’s impossible to tell what comes from where without someone spelling it out. So I’m gonna do that. These are all the currently accessible best in slot legendary scouts that you can go out and get RIGHT NOW* if you wanted.
Tumblr media
OVERVIEW:
I will only be going over scouts that CAN STILL BE REALISTICALLY OBTAINED. No Eternal Blazons from a random lost sector. There is a section for world drops at the end but if it doesn’t have an Origin Trait, it didn’t make the list.
Barrel, sight, mag, and masterwork options are all personal preference. Even on MnK I like to go for recoil direction first, followed by stability, handling, and then range and reload. Your mileage may vary based on personal aim skill, preference, control scheme, etc, etc. so just experiment with everything until you find what you’re comfortable with.
THE LIST:
Night Watch (not pictured): Lightweight Kinetic. Shaw Han gives you a god roll (overflow, explosive rounds) for free just for doing the New Light quest. This is a great scout and will serve new players flawlessly. For most this will be enough.
Trustee (not pictured): Solar Rapid Fire from the Deep Stone Crypt raid. Probably the strongest energy legendary scout in the game. I have been really unlucky with my drops and don’t have a good roll or crafted version yet. Go for Incandescent and Reconstruction and watch the world burn.
Randy’s Throwing Knife (not pictured): Kinetic Rapid Fire. Random reward this season (S21) from crucible matches and engrams. Will be focusable next season. A previous pinnacle weapon brought back with random rolls. Look for things like Zen Moment, Rapid Hit, Kill Clip, Box Breathing, Discord, Perpetual Motion, Cascade Point, and Kinetic Tremors.
Servant Leader: Kinetic Rapid Fire. Found from decrypting Gambit engrams with Drifter. Monstrous 2.6x zoom. Even more monstrous loot pool. Alternative to Randy’s if Gambit is more your speed. Watch for Frenzy, Kill Clip, Adrenaline Junkie, Rapid Hit, One for All, Shoot to Loot, and Subsistence.
Doom of Chelchis: Void 180 from the King’s Fall raid. Craftable. Perks to look for: One for All, Explosive Rounds, Frenzy, Repulsor Brace. Rare Dragonfly+Firefly combo.
Hung Jury: Kinetic 180. Nightfall drop. Best in slot Kinetic scout right now. Adept is not mandatory but recommended. Perks to look for: No Distractions, Rapid Hit, Box Breathing, Firefly, Kinetic Tremors.
Long Arm: Arc 120. Legendary version of DMT from the Spire of the Watcher dungeon. 120s aren’t the strongest rn especially with big brother DMT around. Nut it’s farmable on certain weeks and has good perks so I’d say it’s worth it. Recommended perks: Rapid Hit, Hip Fire, Explosive Rounds, Adrenaline Junkie, Opening Shot.
Nameless Midnight: Kinetic 180. Drops from Vanguard Ops. Will be focusable next season (S23) at Zavala. Reliable workhorse. Monstrous perk pool. Luckily it means you can get pretty much whatever you want on it. Some to watch for would be Kill Clip, Keep Away, Kinetic Tremors, Slideways, Rampage, Zen Moment, Explosive Rounds, and Perpetual Motion.
Vision of Confluence: Solar 180. Drops from Vault of Glass raid. A personal favorite. This is low on the list due to rumors about the raid getting refreshed i.e. Last Wish style. It’s been a little left behind but is still technically farmable. Small perkpool with good options. I recommend Killing, Wind, Kill Clip, Firefly, Frenzy, and Zen Moment.
Last Rite: Kinetic 120. Ritual weapon for this season. Can be earned at Rank 16 with Zavala, Shaxx, or Drifter. It’s an OK scout. Nothing stellar but it is guaranteed and I’d be lying If I’d say Reconstruction and Focused Fury were’t a ton of fun to play with. You’ll earn this naturally as you play but I wouldn’t seek it out over the other on this list.
Pointed Inquiry: Void High Impact. Found in Savathun’s Throne World. Craftable. Frankly, the sights on this scout are terrible and its stats are mediocre at best. It can get Genesis+Disruption Break but your time is better spent going after something else.
Transfiguration: Kinetic High Impact. Drops from the Last Wish raid. Newly refreshed. A very strong scout and contender for best in slot next to Hung Jury. Watch out for the stellar Kill Clip + Rampage combo. Can also get Explosive Rounds, Kinetic Tremors, Discord, Keep Away, Demolitionist, Rapid Hit, or Rewind Rounds.
WORLD DROP SECTION:
World drops are rare nowadays but there’s a handful of useful scouts you can get from the random purple engram you found on patrol. Good luck!
Jararaca SR3: Stasis rapid fire. You will need to get lucky for this one but Banshee and Xur sell it from time to time and it still drops in the world loot pool (i think). Perks to look for: Kill Clip, Rapid Hit, No Distractions, Tunnel Vision, Headstone.
Contingency Plan: Arc Rapid Fire. Same deal as Jararaca. Just lightning flavored. Perks to look for: Kill Clip, Rapid Hit, No Distractions, Tunnel Vision, Elemental Capacitor.
Perses-D: Stasis High Impact. The only stasis High Impact in the game. Very strong if you’re lucky enough to get one. Stats-For-All or Rapid Hit combined with either One-For-All or Headstone is the play here. (Getting multikills with the headstone crystal can proc Stats-For-All FYI)
Glissando-47: Strand 180. New this season. Is pretty much outclassed by every other scout in this slot. Still has some valuable perks if you’re new and is sold at Banshee VERY frequently. Watch for Hatchling, Reconstruction, Overflow, Box Breathing, and Discord.
Honorable mention to Vouchsafe which can still be earned in the Dreaming City via Blind Well and Bounties. It’s outpaced by DoC in nearly every category so I’d say go for that if you need a purple flavored scout for whatever reason.
There are also all the exotic options. Polaris Lance (my baby), Symmetry, MIDA, DMT, Jade Rabbit, Wicked Implement, and Skyburners Oath. Implement is available this season via the Deep Dive quest and the others can be retrieved from the Lost Light Monument in the tower. Touch of Malice is a fascinating but not very useful exotic scout from Kings Fall. It is getting an unknown buff soon so if you’re doing KF for Doom of Chelchis, keep your fingers crossed for that one too.
Hope this helps!
*some of these are on weekly rotators so pay attention to what is available at the weekly reset!
Here is my full non-sunset-but-not-necessarily-obtainable legendary collection if you want to compare to your own vaults to see if you have any hidden treasures. I recommend everything here. Complete w/notes.
