But there is also this 3-week-old kitten. HER problem, along with her siblings and mother, is they have a slight upper respitory infection. Which can causing gagging. Which means I get to panic that this small child is dying when, really, she's just choking the same way people do when there's mucus hung in the back of your throat. But, like...

I spent $152 Friday on an emergency vet visit to take this kitten's brother--his name is Steve--to the vet because he was acting like he couldn't keep his head raised and kept meowing pitifully. They gave me Nutri-Cal and dewormed them all and were like, "Maybe his sugar dropped? 🤷♀️" Because the bastard was seemingly fine two hours after my near panic attack.
I know more about cat health now than I ever wanted to learn in my lifetime.

Which is fine for a story! While the disease is fucked up in-universe, this is a story about metaphorical feelings regarding love and tragedy.
But some of us get uncomfy with that. So since Lore is subjective, some of us like the idea better if it's not so much 'unrequited love' that causes the disease, but the 'not confessing' part. Where someone accepting that they're in love and confessing to the other party, regardless of if the feelings are returned, is what clears the disease up. Because then it is entirely about the person dealing with their own feelings and the inability to be honest rather than 'love me or I die'.

The causation of BOAS in breeds like pugs are mostly attributed to their
stunted head size, but Jeffery Schoenebeck at the University of Edinburgh has also proposed that these problems may be genetic. He found that the Norwich terrier, which have better proportioned skulls compared to pugs, were affected with BOAS and similar respiratory diseases. According to the Smithsonian, Schoenebeck found upon further research that there were gene mutations—especially the ADAMTS3– that could cause dogs to have “fluid retention and swelling around the lungs” when possessing two mutated alleles.
Luckily, technology like genetic screening and breathing tests for puppies can identify the individuals most likely to develop respiratory problems and thereby reduce its prevalence on future generations. Nurse
Had appointment with the respitory nurse at my doctors and she has convinced me to try the Spiriva Respimat inhaler instead of the powder capsule, I stupidly (with hindsight) agreed, so I used it for several days before realising it is just as bad (and still Tiotropium !) as the capsule, So I am back to square one! I have decided to try and ween myself off this time rather than just stopping suddenly so I have gone down to just 1 puff a day instead of 2, and I have had to fork out £200 for a home oxygen machine, I have not even bothered to consult the doctors because they are quite frankly bloody useless! They got me into this situation in the first place, giving me a newish medicine that I don’t think I really needed, I was doing ok with my salbutamol and fostair inhalers, yes I have rescue packs I probably use a couple of times a year but having this awful experience with ‘tiotropium’ has taught me a harsh lesson and I will never go down this road again. My mental health has worsened a lot with ‘tiotropium’ I am at the moment having daily issues with anxiety, thoughts of death, crying a lot and terrible insomnia, aswell as the breathing problems, so thats were I am at the moment, not in a good place at all but I will carry on and update every few days or so, hoping for the best lol x

It's is t-minus
2 days till my birthday (Thursday, The 4th)
Sunday I discovered my brother's cat, Angel had a rectal prolapse (I will explain what this means later, there will be a warning bc it's gross) the vet was closed since it was... ya know... Sunday. We took her to the emergency vet in town (an hour or so away from where we live.)
We waited 2 ½ to 3 hours before we even got paperwork for her, after hearing a lady talking to a tech about her dog I decided we should just leave. The lady had brought her dog in because it had a seizure and was in respitory distress, the dog was triaged for 2 hours and only the vitals had been done.
So we decided to take her home and make her comfortable. Call the vet in the morning to be told they can't help. Called like 20 other vets just to hear the same thing. Started to cry, called my mom (retired vet tech) and she called the regular vet to explain in depth what was going on (I had explained but maybe I should have been more graphic with then about it, but I hadn't hardly slept)
The vet said we could drop her off and they'd look when they could. So me and my dad took her (I've been handling all of this because my brother is Autistic and gets SUPER overwhelmed by this stuff which makes him frustrated)
The tech took us back and weighed her, she told us we could leave if we were comfortable leaving her there for now and they'd call us when they knew what they were going to Do. Not 5 minutes after we left (the vet is half an hour away btw) they called to let me know the cat would need surgery. I agreed and signed off on everything. She's home in a very large crate recovering.

What is a rectal prolapse?
A rectal prolapse happens when an animal or person has been straining to defecate. If they strain hard enough sometimes in uncommon cases the intestinal tissue to come out from the Anus. In a minor case you may only notice when the animal is trying to poop. Call your vet as soon as possible.
A COMPLETE rectal prolapse is when the large intestinal tissue has come out of the Anus. You'll know if it's a prolapse if you look at the anus and see a red bulge where the anus should be. If you discover your pet has a complete rectal prolapse contact your vet immediately and get it corrected ASAP. This is very painful for the animal and is dangerous.
In layman's terms a rectim is like a tube sock, when a prolapse happens it's like reaching into the hole of the sock you'd put your foot into, and starting to pull it inside out, which is why it's so important to have your pet seen asap for any kind of prolapse.
There's also a thing called a uterine prolapse which is similar (pulling what's inside out) but is only possible in unspayed animals and usually happens during birth. If this happens while your animal is birthing let your vet know asap.
Any prolapse is an emergency.

Howdy! first and foremost thank you for the sweet ask and making aware of my silly little typo. (personally, i would LOVE to talk about rat cars if given the right audience)
This is probably going to be a bit of a longer answer because theres a lot of ground to cover when It comes to rat care, but I’ll try and continue posting about information for new and prospective rat owners.
So, before you buy a rat, you must know that you cannot buy a rat, you must buy RATS. Rats are highly social animals and must be kept in groups of 2 or more. In my personal experience, rats tend to thrive best in groups of three. These little guys are likely to become very depressed if kept in isolation, and are much more likely to develope health issues.
Speaking of health issues, rats have very delicate little respitory systems! rats tend to develop respitory infections fairly easily, male rats are particuarly prone. However, this can be avoided by taking the right preventitive steps. First off, do not light candles, spray perfumes, or air fresheners in the same room as you keep your rats. Scents in the air can irritate their airways and make it more likely for them to develop infections. Secondly, make sure to clean their cage once a week! waiting more than a week causes a build up of ammonia from urine, which can also irritate their airways. However, cleaning more than once a week can cause your rats to overcompensate and produce more natural musk to mark their area. If you really want to go the extra mile to keeping your rats’ cage clean and ammonia free, then you can litter train your rats! this makes it easier to maintain a clean cage as you can empty out the litter box indivually on a more frequent basis than you would clean their entire cage.
Now, lets talk cages. Many cages on the market are designed for hamsters, guinne pigs, and rabits, which means they are designed horizontally to give pets room to run around. However, with rats, you will want their care to extend vertically with multiple levels to climb. its also best to avoid cages with a lot of plastic built in, as rats CAN AND WILL chew right through that shit here are a few examples of good rat cages
Rat cages tend to run a bit pricey, so feel free to take your time and find a sale on one, or even purchase one second hand from former rat owners.
Once you have your rat cage secured, make sure to fill it with toys, espically hammocks. Rats aboslutely adore hammocks. It’s also a good idea to have spots for rats to nest in, such as these igloos, or even recycled cardboard food boxes
Lastly on the topic of cages, you will need to put material over some of the bars, such as fleece, baby blankets, or even old cotton tshirts, this is so your rats have a soft surface to walk and sleep on. If rats spend too much time walking on metal bars, it can damage their feet and give them bumble foot. Here a few examples of good cage set ups with bedding, toys, hammocks, and sleepy spots. Note that you will need to replace bedding and toys on a regular basis, as rats will eat through that shit like its NOTHING.
The one exception to these cages as examples is that they do not appear to have actual litter bedding, which is a topic thats pretty complex for rats and will need a post all of its own, lest I make this response much longer than it needs to. So I recently started working in a gastroenterology office. Interestingly, I dreamed about a part of my job but what was worded for a procedure was “schedule a Pokémon included procedure” and if I remember correctly, Mexican was the Pokémon helping not Chansey. I train a lot of Pokemon up for hospitals and medical uses, so I will list what I train, and what I know others use during procedures and daily life around the medical industry.
So I work with koffing a lot, like first and foremost they’re the biggest out-going species we have on the island outside of the grass Pokemon. When trained correctly they can purify air, making recovery for respitory issues faster and safer. If you need to disinfect them before entering a quarantined area, they can take severe chemicals that other species wouldn’t otherwise handle, and can be completely sterilised before entering without any damage to their body or internals. They may not be the Pokemon of choice for hospitality but they have a lot of applications, and can take pollens, fumes, and germs right out of the air, containing them in their body and breaking them down to harmless particles. There incredibly Pokemon and often get overlooked!
Grimer is our second export species, they are excellent once trained, for cleaning up messes. Patient just threw up? Grimer will clean it, blood on the floors? Grimer there. Dropped chemicals or biohazard items? Grimer can, and do touch corrosive materials with no affect to their bodies. You can also teach them to remove poisons and even foreign bodies from people and Pokemon, without heavily invasive treatments. They can take a little of the poison out of the patient, analyse it, and then remove the rest of the poison once they can isolate it within a body. They do all this without releasing their own toxins, and only take around 2% of body fluids that aren’t the initial poison they were removing. Meaning the patient will lose either bile, blood, or other liquids like these. It’s a very small percent and in emergencies (we see a lot of young children consuming things like soaps left too low and accessible) a Grimer will be able to fix this issue very easily.
You mentioned Medicham and Blissey, they’re both well known for their skill in the medical profession, not only with moves that can help, but their general overall natures are quite calm and collected, perfect for the industry. Comfey and Audino also fall into this bracket, making very caring professionals in their industry. Audino actually are favoured more in pediactric departments, as they are very good with children, and can do routine checks without a trainer or doctor present, when trained correctly.
The solosis line also have their place in the industry, being completely invulnerable to just about all airborne and contact based illnesses, so quarantines and areas where patients cannot be exposed to unclean conditions are perfect for this species. They’re jolly enough on average, and also you can disinfect them entierly without harm to the Pokemon. Once with a patient, they can be a great help both physically and mentally, and usually hospitals and doctors will pair one of these Pokemon to one patient, if they’re staying for a long time, or in for a delicate surgery or procedure. There’s also the Pokemon perfect for physical recovery, machamp and bigger species with muscles and strength can be there as support for rehabilitating those who may have lost the ability to walk, they’re excellent at motivation and care for slow progress, and are trained to help with stability, and have great patience. The bracket of Pokemon that are used for this is quite large, I’ve seen typical little Meditite, big muscly hitmonlee, Lucario, even Meowstic, to name a few. This area of the medical industry isn’t fitted to just one species, but usually they have a bipedal form, to mimic the humans they support and give better examples when helping in recovery. The fighting types also have a lot of energy to do this kind of work all day without strain on their body. The unsung hero’s if you ask me.

Minna come to mind as a classic therapist species, as they can induce comfortable rest, and vivid states of mind, they’ve been known to direct dreams too, putting people in hypothetical situations to face fears, without putting them in physical danger.
These are just some examples, there’s Pokemon for every job, and it’s not a pokemons type or skill that alwasy dictates what it’d be good at, you can train a lot of species to be real helpful despite their normal connotations. I’m sure during your career you’ll see many more incredibly Pokemon out there doing amazing work.

hi. im a young person who had been suffered from an unknown possibly respitory possibly skeleto-muscular disorder for likely my whole life.
for 4 or so years I have been suffering from chronic depression, thanks to a drug called montelukast.
When I was put on this drug it was not know to cause mental health disrupencies, but a little over a year and a half and 9 months after i was diagnosed with ocd and anxiety, and several weeks after i was diagnosed with major depression, a study came out.
It proved that this drug has unlocked inactive mental illness pieces inside people. For me it was depression. For others it has been psychosis, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and more.
There have been 82 completed cases of suicide in correlation with Montelukast discovered by the FDA. This drug that is still on the market, marketed and prescribed mostly to children and babies for asma, has killed almost a hundred people at least.
This information was fully discovered a year and a half ago, but some mental illness and montelukast associations where added to the side effects in 2008.
This medication is prescribed to people of all ages, but mostly effects children.
The FDA have said that this drug should only be used in extreme cases of asma and similar disorders, and only when patients respond to no other treatment.
If you are a patient or a parent on, previously on, or about to begin Montelukast, please, please, at have a conversation with your doctor about if the pros outweigh the cons.
Unfortunately, since so much is discovered about drugs and medicine every day, many doctors are unaware of the extreme side effects of this drug, and continue prescribing it like usual.
This drug can be helpful and good to some people, but it is very important to be informed about the side effects of every drug before you take it, especially if the drug has killed 82 people.
Please, please, do not let yourself or your family member become a victim to this drug like me, and signal boost.
