Nugs is feeling festive!
You may notice that Nugs has nubby toes. She is one of my rescue babies. Her original owners just didn’t want her anymore and stopped caring. ALL of her toes are nubby, and on some feet she’s missing some completely. But she’s happy and safe now.

Help me help these kittens rescued during Hurricane Ian!
hi friends! this is Nashira, the moderator of @dear-fillintheblank. I hope you are well. I am not sure how many followers here are still active but I wanted to share this here in case anyone is still around!
On Thursday, November 29 we found five kittens as the hurricane arrived here. The lightning, thunder, and flooding was *really* bad and their mother had been scared off as well as every other cat/stray animal in the neighborhood.
I'm grateful to share that things are going back to normal now, and the kittens are doing well. They are taking kitten meal replacer, keeping warm, and getting bigger every day. I secured their first vet appointment and they will be dewormed on schedule as well as spayed/neutered when big enough.
I'm sharing this here because while I have other pets I'm taking care of -- the reason I have a credit card is because of them -- earlier this month, my dog had to be taken to the vet for a total of $800.
She was diagnosed with IVDD, arthritis, and osteoporosis. I'm really happy to share she's doing wonderful now and her issues are managed by medication!
Everything will be okay, but I really wasn't expecting these two things back to back. If anyone can help us out, I would greatly appreciate it 💗💗💗

Our foster puppy Charlie had his second and third heartworm treatment! He was very brave and his buddy Eureka provided good moral support. Our resident pup Idgie is happy to have "her" boys home and everyone is resting comfortably now. We are looking ahead to 6-8 weeks of strict rest, but luckily Charlie is a chill guy who loves to cuddle, and we are entering hibernation season here in New England anyway!

To this beautiful girl, Dusty aka Stormy. When I rescued her a year ago I never imaged my life would become rescuing animals in need. When we met her fur was just Matts that took several weeks to cut away due to poor socialisation her and her son has been suffering. It took a very long time for the fur to grow back afterwards too. She loves to be pet behind her heterochromic eyes and will sit nice on your lap at times but getting to that part takes a lot of stomping on her part before picking up. Even though I try to groom her as regularly as possible she does try to avoid it by hiding from me so I do have to trim away Matts sometimes, recently I cut her under wool and mane which honestly will help keep her cool at this time of year anyways. Before they came into my life I knew nothing about lionhead bunnies and have had to learn a lot and am still learning, I appreciate any advice too.
She was neutered sometime near October as after 2 years the risk of uterine cancers increases year on year and it's essential to neuter asap to prevent. So here's for many more years together Dusty (who should be coming up to about 3 years now so should live another 6)

I haven’t posted about him yet because I wasn’t sure if he would pull through. But he seems to finally be recovering a bit and getting stronger, so here he is!
Meet Zucchini! He’s been passed around owners for about 7 years or so, was on calcium sand, emaciated, and weak to the point he still can hardly catch his food. Tons of stuck shed on his toes that I’ve been slowly working through because he is not a fan of handling. He’s managed to put a bit of weight on and gain some strength with proper husbandry, critical care and superworms! It doesn’t help that he’s super picky about food, but he’s a tough little cookie and I’m proud of him and finally letting myself get emotionally invested in him now that I think he’ll pull through.

I found this little man at the train station with no nest anywhere. He was overheated, so i took him with me, gentle cooled him down with a wet towel and placed him in a box. He also got some meal worms and cooked egg. Now he chirping my head off and i am making a call to the ornithological station to turn him in tomorrow. The little guy should grow up proper ;w;

I took this pic of Skyler on our way to see the vet yesterday!
She was born with some sort of autoimmune issue and she is a hospice-foster which means she lives with us but she gets all her medical care through the shelter. The vets we worked with retired recently and we are transitioning to a new vet who is very cool and proactive and he wanted to have an official exam with her to go over her treatment plan.
Skyler did NOT behave herself and was very grumpy and growly during the visit but we were able to get her checked out and discuss what her future might be like. Our goal is for quality of life and keeping her as happy and comfortable as we can. When I took her home 10 years ago I never imagined she would still be here with us today so every day is a bonus. Her health issues are still kind of a mystery but I am always happy to discuss more if anyone is curious :)
Once we got home she was right back to her sunny, cheerful self, snoozing in her carrier. She's such a funny cat!

rehoming over
a woman has made her plans with taking in Dusty and Snowy now and we're meeting halfway at Birmingham. She's from Worcester and we're both taking the train to exchange the buns on Monday.
My mum's planning a farewell party for them on Sunday so we can say our goodbyes and give them some final love before there journey.
They get to live with some guinea pigs in their new home and I hope everything is wonderful for them on the other side. I'll miss them so much and I've paid for some photos to commemorate the year we've had together.
I'll never forget about them and I hope they'll always remember me too but it's okay if they don't, as long as they are happy.
also, we could really do with donations towards animal care as our newest kitten is being neutered on Monday too and then she will need vaccinations and we are saving up for surgery for the dog to have a lump removed from his cheek.
