Kojun - The Water Garden - reissue of 1993 electro-Asian LP
A buoyant masterpiece from the early 90s, “The Water Garden” was created by Okinawa-born Kojun Kokuba under the inspiring image of a “happy Asia” thriving in the sea-based trading networks of the medieval to pre-modern era, with the concept that various types of music, as well as physical goods, were distributed and dispersed across the seas connecting various parts of east and southeast Asia. Fittingly, the music here has definite and distinctive Ryukyu island roots, but is informed by a number of other Asian musical traditions, layering phrases derived from numerous Asian scales, often altered by Kojun, eschewing typical Western chordal harmonic movement. Kojun uses the synths and multitrack recorders of the early 90s to, in his words, “pile up lines” in sweet and not at all overbearing melodic accumulations, with a desire to distribute and disperse a new energy from Okinawa to the rest of Asia and the world. Despite a pleasing and compelling rhythmic lilt and the use of synths and drum machines, this music was not created as a product for the dance floor; Kojun envisioned a type of electronic salon music, a “light music” made with contemporary technology. This is the first LP edition of the self-produced original 1993 CD release and includes bonus tracks and liner notes in English and Japanese.

Overwhelmingly well received upon its initial release, this remastered version sounds better than ever.
“In the Nineties when grunge and hardcore reigned in Austin's clubs, Knife in the Water pushed back against that with quiet audacity.” - (The Austin Chronicle)

I'm so fucking excited for this.

Nervous Gender - Music From Hell is getting a fucking double LP reissue.
I've wanted a copy of this album for years and could never get myself to spend the nearly $200 it would cost for an original pressing.
This right here is the type of albums that need to be reissued, not the 500th variant of fucking Thriller.

Another random pull…
Stereolab “Emperor Tomato Ketchup” 1996/2019
If you have interest in Stereolab at all get these reissues! Great sounding triple albums at very reasonable prices. Really nice packaging too. ETK is my favorite of their albums but I’ve liked most everything I’ve heard from them. Probably the peak of their commercial appeal on this one.

Rhino to reissue “For The Roses” on vinyl for 50th Anniversary
“I introduced myself to her and the second or third thing I said was, “Your album, “For The Roses” is one of my all-time favorite records by anybody!” She squeezed my arm and said, “Y’know, everyone talks about "Blue” but "For The Roses” is my favorite.”—Fuzzbee Morse on meeting Joni Mitchell

Folk Magic Band - s/t LP (Jazz Al Folkstudio) - Black Sweat Records reissue of 1976 LP - the "magic" is some spirited free jazz!
Folk Magic Band represents one of the most interesting and original, yet lesser-known experiences of the italian jazz scene of the 1970s. In the legendary alternative environment of the Folk Studio in Rome, an open 18-members lineup is inspired by the free jazz of its time, a music that encompasses the whole world and its polychromy of sound. The echo seems to resonate the pan-ethnic motifs of Don Cherry and his Organic Music Society, but also the spiritual jazz of Pharoas Sanders and the orchestrations of the Sun Ra Arkestra. The textures chase a chinese melody, ignite with african scents and south american jungles, flow into fusion violin drifts a la Archie Shepp's Attic Blues or Mingus-like orchestral sections. The fascination of this collective affair still strikes for its playful and ironic nature, still impressing for its strength and willingness to open and influence new directions.

A new & revived interest in vinyl records has raised the profile of this long forgotten medium. To celebrate, we're selling copies of this seminal record. The theme tune to Britain's first black music pirate radio station. Illegally broadcasting from West London in the early 80s, the Dread Broadcasting Corporation #DBC both pioneered the Pirate Radio scene & brought music of black origin to the ears of millions in a time when very little of it was heard on mainstream platforms.
Our close relationship with the original members allows us to stream #vintage shows & create new productions on our 24/7 #livestream. The #DBC phenomena continues to live in the heart of West London UK.
