It’s really funny to me that the first real scene of HOTD was the gayest scene to gay:
Tumblr media
Like, right out of the gate they gave us a blonde-haired bi disaster and her wife, a smiley curly-haired brown-eyed lesbian, flirting and sighing at each other like newlyweds. As if they don’t spend practically every waking moment around each other.

JUDE LAW (reserved by Kate AA) conqueror; king/emperor -- has recently made a conquest of his largest and most profitable kingdom yet && has decided that this shall be the center of his new empire; definitely a lot of unrest in the kingdom here and they would all much rather see their rightful queen KATIE MCGRATH restored to the throne; JUDE LAW is pressuring her to agree to marry him and she and her fam are to remain under house arrest until she complies; he already has several other wives (he's married once for love, once for lust, once for lineage and he hopes to marry KATIE for her lands); his line of succession is currently unclear and even he isn't sure who his heir should be tbh; can be heartless and cruel but there's more to him than that -- was once a much softer man. he doesn't believe in this place's ~old religion~ and hopes to snuff out an already dying flame.
LEA SEYDOUX - JUDE LAW's eldest and only child from his deceased first wife. his favorite -- she can literally do no wrong. lea's mother loved JUDE dearly but once he started to take other wives, she became more and more a shell of her former shelf until she eventually died (LEA believes of a broken heart). She believes her dad feels very guilty about what happened to her mom and tries to shower her with love and affection because of this. LEA has a lot of complicated feels re: her dad and honestly her entire family. Doesn't especially want to be queen, but feels she would make a better one than her brothers but despises the stupid games her step-mothers are playing to try to win their sons the crown. Super smart!!!!!! Can be sarcastic af; lots of men have offered her her hand, but her dad doesn't think any of them are good enough.
EVA GREEN - JUDE LAW's second wife. some say she is an enchantress to have drawn JUDE LAW into her bed when he was so in love with his first wife, but at the time, his wife had given him no children and he decided to bring back the laws of old, which would allow him to marry as many women as he liked. EVA promised him a son -- which she did eventually give him -- but not before he grew impatient and married again. EVA's son is not his oldest son, but he is the eldest son of his second wife (as his first one gave him none) and she believes that this is enough for him to have a claim as his father's heir. hates REBECCA FERGUSON with a fiery burning passion!!! Not a fan of his other kids either and it is said that she once tried to have BRADLEY JAMES and JULIAN MORRIS killed. did she or didn't she? that's one secret she will never tell xoxo
TIMOTHEE CHALAMET (reserved by lizzy) - EVA & JUDE'S son; booksmart; loves playing chess; can be manipulative to get what he wants; believes he's the rightful heir thanks to his mom; can be competitive with his half-brothers but isn't as hot headed as MAX IRONS and enjoys riling him up; no match for BRADLEY JAMES physically but he knows he can outsmart him; has a sarcastic sense of humor; fiercely loyal to those he loves; shameless flirt; spoiled af; currently into EMILY CAREY
REBECCA FERGUSON - JUDE'S third wife and the first to give him a son; actually loves JUDE which made her incredibly jealous of his first wife .... but also jealous of his second, too, since it was clear he's always been attracted to EVA. Very proud that she was the first wife to give him a son and the only one to give him more than one child. Fiercely protective of her kids and their birthright; doesn't understand why it's even a conversation -- the first son of the king should be his heir????? BRADLEY JAMES is her pride; SUKI WATERHOUSE is her joy; and JULIAN MORRIS is her comfort
BRADLEY JAMES (OR POSSIBLY MAX IRONS???) (reserved by Kate AA)- has some Lancelot vibes tbh (or maybe it's just because he's making me think of this) No one can beat him with a sword (or so he at least likes to think); thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread; flirts with all the girls but no one is worthy of his being his wife (so far); smarter than TIMOTHEE gives him credit for but dumber than he thinks he is;
JULIAN MORRIS? - the quiet sibling; honestly Evie Beaumont vibes??? lives in the library; tries to keep the peace amongst his entire weird family; the son JUDE LAW forgets about (him?); keeps his siblings out of trouble/keeps his mom sane; honestly the kid who is probably most suited to rule is the one no one remembers! has a thing for FREYA MAVOR perhaps???
SUKI WATERHOUSE (reserved by lizzy)- the baby and it shows! rolls her eyes whenever anyone tries to bring up who is going to rule like it's no big deal (it doesn't concern her so????) lively af!!! charming!!! smiles like she doesn't have a care in the world b/c she doesn't!!! happy little fool
CHARLIE HUNNAM (reserved by lizzy) - JUDE LAW's bro; in love with KATIE MCGRATH; torn between serving his bro and his feelings for her
JODIE COMER (reserved by lizzy) - sister to JUDE LAW/CHARLIE HUNNAM; engaged to LUKE EVANS; was once kidnapped by the resistance but pretended to be a serving girl instead of the king's sister to escape && pretended to be on their side and now she's a double agent working for her bro against them but it's complicated because she's developed ~feelings
KATIE MCGRATH (reserved by Kate AA) - rightful queen to a land that has been conquered by JUDE LAW. currently under house arrest until she agrees to marry the new king. Obviously does not want to marry him -- nor does she want to solidify the fact that he's taken over her home, but she also knows that perhaps more is at stake here and as long as her sister remains under house arrest, the sooner they will open the door for both gods and monsters to descend upon the earth
ASTRID BEGRES-FRISBY - KATIES half sister who the people also call a witch thanks to her mum but she definitely is clairvoyant and can see things people cannot. Possibly one of the few who still practice the ~old religion and is the last mine of defense between this world and the demons of the next or something idk yet exactly what’s happening here but KATIE is one of the few people who know about what’s going on with her
LUKE EVANS (reserved by Kate AA) super ambitious!!!! charming af; schemer!!! big bro of eva green and has enjoyed the wealth that being the bro-in-law of the king has gotten him but tbh he's not completely satisfied and wants more!! ambitious!!!!!! supporter of his nephew as the next king and hopes to essentially be his ~hand; engaged to marry someone???
ORLANDO BLOOM - LUKE EVAN's & EVA GREEN's bro; as a second son he needed an occupation so he's now the captain of JUDE LAW's kingsguard --- very genuine!! has fallen in love with EMILIE DE RAVIN (or possibly LEA SEYDOUX?) but has nothing to offer her :*(
SEAN BEAN?? - JUDE LAW's uncle & hand of the king. responsible for a lot of the more sane choices JUDE makes and helps keeping him from going too far off the rails; has seen his decent into ~madness~ and hopes to help pull him out of it; knows he is driven both by ambition but also feels responsible for the death of his first wife
PEDRO PASCAL - JUDE’s mage who supposedly has magic but it’s just science. From a country JUDE conquered but has a “can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” mentality and has been a loyal subject but also only looks out for #1 and would sell Jude to the devil for 1 corn chip; suspects what ASTRID really is not because he has the sight but because his mom did and he knows what to look for. Unsure how he’s going to use this information yet
IAIN GLEN - former love of REBECCA FERGUSON; still in love with her; potential real dad of one of her kids just to complicate things further
—————
EMILIE DE RAVIN - grew up wealthy but her fam lost it all when her dad died in the war!! desperately wants a family of her own but also wants to marry well so she can provide for her sisters and they can stop relying on their evil stepmother!! Knows ADAM DRIVER has a huge thing for her and wants to marry. Not ideal but they would keep the estate and be provided for! Would ideally like to marry for love but doesn’t think that is in the cards. Loves books and storytelling and enchants her sisters with her tales.
IMOGEN POOTS (reserved by lizzy) - headstrong and wild. hair is always out of place; speaks her mind; wishes she was a boy tbh; despises her stepmother with the white hot intensity of a thousand burning suns; expert at archery and horse riding but can’t act like a proper lady to save her life
FREYA MAVOR — the quiet and shy one! the one who is taken most advantage of by their stepmother as she’s the sweetest and honestly just wants everyone to get along; deathly afraid of social situations and her stepmother has long since given up on marrying her off and instead wants to keep her as her servant for life; strong Cinderella vibes here; loves animals and has animal friends probs; also loves music and sings like an Angel but you probably aren’t lucky enough to hear it
EMILY CAREY (reserved by Kate AA) the youngest and most spoiled for sure; wants to marry for money and have lots of things and take care of her sisters; loves balls and fancy dresses; lots of energy and spirit; definitely naive and has been sheltered by her sisters; loves to paint and draw; helps IMOGEN play pranks on their stepmom and stepsister but never faces the consequences because IMOGEN always takes the blame for them both; flirting shamelessly with TIMOTHEE CHALAMET and likes him but certainly likes the idea that she could be queen 1 day (or at least the sister-in-law to one)
ANJELICA HUSTON (reserved by Kate AA) - evil stepmother to the above girls; mom to ADAM DRIVER; hates EMILIE with a passion b/c it is clear her son intends to marry her when he could do soooo much better; hates IMOGEN because she's impossible and a gd embarrassment; hates EMILY because she just might snag a prince; honestly FREYA is her only stepdaughter who is tolerable and she plays mind games with her to get her to want to stay and basically be her personal servant forever; manipulative af
ADAM DRIVER (reserved by Lizzy) thinks he's the greatest thing ever; his mom says he can do no wrong ever in his life and he believes her; demanding; angry when he doesn't get what he wants; thinks EMILIE DE RAVIN is the most beautiful women he's ever seen and he must have her even if she is his step-sister
NATALIE DORMER? - ANJELICA'S daughter
—————
CHRIS HEMSWORTH - ~member of the resistance~ that is trying to unite the men to carry out an assassination attempt on the king? possibly his heirs as well but possibly they believe there will be enough unrest and chaos re: who is going to take over that they will no longer be united and then weak enough for the locals to kick them out of their kingdom??? unwittingly has brought a spy into the group's mist b/c he's in love with her and has no idea she's working for the enemy??
SAM CLAFLIN -- Chris Hemsworth bro/ ~resistance member~
FLORENCE PUGH -- Chris Hemsworth's sister/~resistance member
HARRY LLOYD - stableboy working @ the castle who is in love with ASTRID BERGES-FRISBY; member of the ~resistance~
ALICIA VIKANDER - ~resistance member~
---------- later tiers -------------
DARIUS/MATT SMITH (reserved by lizzy) (god of death/ruler of the underworld???) comes to wreck havoc on the world; create chaos; drag a few souls back with him to hell but also here to party it up on earth as long as he's able to
XERCES/HENRY CAVILL (reserved by Kate AA) (matt's bro; god of winter??????) tired af; always chasing after his bro; crusty exterior

Rhaenyra x alicent is an interesting idea, especially since emma d'arcy, olivia cooke, milly alcock and emily carey all said they played their friendship as having romantic/erotic undertones.
right?! and they're doing it so well: rhaenyra sighing looking at alicent, alicent's obvious and masterfully depicted internalized homophobia, holding hands all the time, being protective of each other, standing up for each other...... the acting in this show is insane. and how their friendship and different personalities reflect the political landscape of the Dance: rhaenyra is wild and free and disruptive, alicent is bound to tradition and order ("don't you care about your position?" in the first episode; basically every scene with Otto; the scene with the low-key slut-shaming of Nyra going to a brothel, "i'm trying to protect you!" it's all there already!!!) whoever decided the dance should be about the most cathartic sapphic break up of westeros was RIGHT and they should say it. they took grrm's way of thinking about plot (as in, the plot blooms out of the characters instead of being imposed on them by some deus ex-machina mechanism, hello D&D?) to another level entirely xD
it's so bittersweet and i am looking forward to see them chasing each other to death, lol i particularly love love love the way this relationship impacts alicent's character. i don't know, man, i love characters who perform femininity perfectly, good girls who do as their fathers tell them to, who obey every rule, and still suffer for it. important characters, i think. hopefully, with the way they are investing screentime in her loneliness and her grief, and how it's not just a matter of "the good, feminist character" vs "the bad patriarchy side", we can treat her with the same tolerance we treat daemon (re: being nuanced, complex, etc) when we get to the proper Dance and things get ugly.
honestly, i can't help but think they were instructed to play it that way by the directors. or it was too clear in the script to ignore. in any case, i think it was intentional not only from the actors but from the writers’ room (and, i want to believe, with grrm's consent). i'm 100% for it.

once again you're on the right side of the discourse re: hotd whilst the fandom is still as vile as ever 🤮 miss your fics, hope you're doing well!
it's a talent of mine haha
In all seriousness, Alicent is a much more sympathetic and compelling character than Rhaenyra. Emily Carey and Olivia Cooke run rings around Emma D'arcy especially in terms of acting performance as well. Actually, the entirety of Team Green are so much more compelling. I'm not surprised by how disgusting the fandom is being though, especially towards Alicent and Aemond; critical thinking has never been the fandom's strong suit. (and yes that pun was deliberate LOL).
Thanks for your well-wishes, nonny, they are much appreciated! I've just finished my masters dissertation so I have more time for writing now. I'm getting back into the swing of things with TINTB. I don't want to make any firm promises on an ETA, but I'm working on the next chapter.

Character Analysis
THE BASICS:
Character’s name: Roisin Malconaire
Role in story:  Hot mess/Supporting character
Physical description:  Emily Carey
Age: 21
MBTI: ENFP
Enneagram: Type 7 (the enthusiast), 7w6, 749
Zodiac: Aries
INTERNAL: THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
What is his/her greatest fear?  Being deprived and in pain
Inner motivation: To be satisfied and content: to have her needs fulfilled, to maintian her freedom and happiness, to avoid missing out on worthwhile experiences, to keep herself excited and occupied, to avoid and discharge pain
Kryptonite: Someone trying to control her (looking at you, Valentina)
What is his/her misbelief about the world?  If she just accumulates enough wealth and fun and experiences she can actually live the perfect, flawless, pain-free life and give it to her loved ones, too!
Lesson he/she needs to learn: Oops, that’s impossible and money certainly won’t buy it! (Just ask Edmund!)
What is the best thing in his/her life?  Her sisters!!  Her home!!  Fun and doing what she wants and exploring all the opportunities this life has to offer!!
What is the worst thing in his/her life?  Probably her stepmom and stepbro #gross No, but honestly most likely the death of her dad if she was old enough to remember him :( Her mom, too, but I'm not sure she ~does remember her?
What does he/she most often look down on people for?  Being controlled, being boring, an uncooperative spirit, a lack of vision, an unwillingness to help others (tho tbf her viewpoint on this is a lil skewed bc she often fails to see the things ppl need etc etc her heart is ultimately in the right place she’s just kinda spoiled and blind bc of it)
What makes his/her heart feel alive?  Adventure!  Laughter!  Inside jokes!  Exploring!  Riches and excitement!  A new frock!  Poetry that inflames her emotions (yes, she’s def rocking those Anne of Green Gables vibes esp when she was little – cue her renaming Goat Road to the Way of the Shephard or smth more poetic etc)!  Spending quality time with loved ones!  Etc, etc!
What makes him/her feel loved, and who was the last person to make them feel that way? Her sisters were most def the ppl <3  Being paid attention to, being supported and shown affection, having fun, quality time, shared fresh air and experiences, shared laughter, etc!
Top three things he/she values most in life?  Her loved ones, fun, security!
EXTERNAL: NOT NECESSARY, BUT GOOD TO KNOW AND SAYS A LOT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
What’s his/her favorite book, movie, and band?  She’d love the Idylls of the King!  Ivanhoe and pr much anything by Tennyson and Scott and all the other Romantic Poets!  She’d also love Narnia and Pippi Longstocking and Amelia Bedelia and all sorts of fun, fantastical things as a kid!  Re: tv Bridgerton would be a go-to, and, speaking of regency things, pr much all Jane Austen!  I feel like the most recent Emma, P&P, and Persuasion would be her fav movie adaptations (and tbh she’d probs have more patience for those than reading) but she would loooove S&S just in general all editions of it bc she’d suuuuuper relate to Marianne and the whole sister thing would obv get her right in the feels, also Little Women esp the most recent Amy!positive adaptation too for similar reasons etc!  Gilmore Girls!!  Daisy Jones & the Six!!  Florence + the Machine <3  Fairy tales in general!!! dua lipa, ava max, fleetwood mac
Is there an object he/she can’t bear to part with and why?  She probs has, like, a bracelet or hairpin or smth from her mom that is hella sacred to her but tbh she probs rarely wears it, instead choosing to keep it in this tiny ornamental box where she knows its safe and tbh itll probs get burned asp and she’ll probs have a breakdown bc of it bc im mean <3
Describe a typical outfit for him/her from top to bottom.  This girl is O B S E S S E D w clothes and far more so than i am tbh so i probs can’t even comprehend of the sort of sick fit she’d come up w but suffice it to say she’s always glammed out and rocking the latest trends and probs helping to set them too lbr i also feel like she’s REALLY good at, like, taking her mom’s old dresses and spicing them up to make them ahead of the latest trend or like even making smth completely new out of her bedroom curtains like they might not have much?? since they got an evil stepmom?? but even if so she still living that haute couture life!  the best seamstress in the land tbh lbr! ;D  she ~will find a way!  and everyone will be drooling to wear that next week when she’s already moved on to the next look ;D
What names or nicknames has he/she been called throughout their life?  Rosie to her sisters, Rose to her friends, Roisin to everyone else thank you very much
What is his/her method of manipulation?  Lol, she’s the worst smh anyway that would be guilt tripping, judging you, annoying you
Describe his/her daily routine.  Only gets out of bed when positively FORCED tbh and probs kinda cranky in the morning whoops but omg she comes alive at night and just out there having a stupid good time, def the life of the party type, pranking!! joking!! leaving Brigit doodles of Valentina's face after the latest prank lol, honestly she’s not really someone who holds to ~routine bc that’s the bane of her existence and noT exciting (tho she does actually lowkey thrive on one when its enforced so she goes on jags where she holds herself to this standard...and then gets bored of it or distracted by smth and lets it go haha), but catch her laughing and flirting and dancing and teasing and planning outfits and frankly being impulsive af #facepalm
Their go-to cure for a bad day?  Pranking their stepmom w Brigit!!  drawing!!  whatever the medieval!fantasty equivalent of, like, eating ice cream directly out of the container while watching Gilmore Girls is, putting on her fanciest dress and going to balls and dancing w ppl who look at her like she’s the moon in the sky, probs actually wearing that bracelet/pin she has from her mom for once! making her sisters laugh! general escapism of every kind tbh, exploring awesome places everything from creepy forests to exquisite castles yknow!!  new experiences and having fun w her loved ones in general <3  the medieval!fantasy equivalent of going to one of Gatsby’s parties, etc
CHARACTER GOALS:
How is your character dissatisfied with their life?  Well, she’s an orphan w Valentina (fc: ANJELICA HUSTON IN EVER AFTER ;D) for a stepmom so…i feel like that kinda speaks for itself hahaha plus she wants to save herself and her sisters!!  and obv she hasn’t done that yet so lots to be bummed about :/  fortunately, she’s got a handsome prince on the hook so things’re looking up in that dept! and she’s defffff not considering the huge possibility that ~that won’t last since his ambitious parents almost certainly have other plans for him than some rando orphan!!!! even if she ~is technically nobility (actually she ~does know this but she ain’t looking at that too close up bc she’s a world class ignorer of truths she don’t vibe with <3)  Anyway, basically she’d love to be rich and just important enough to be consulted and included on fun things but frankly noT important enough to have to deal w the bad (but she doesn’t really think about that second part too much ngl) and have fine parties and intellectual but funny convos and be admired and adored by the glittering throng and make her sisters’ lives better w a wink of her eye!!!! but obv this fantasy existence isn’t playing out so!!! dissatisfaction!!
What does your character believe will bring them true happiness or contentment?  Wealth and importance bc that’d allow her to solve all her current problems!  of course, it’d also create a host of new and perhaps worse problems, but!!!! she does not consider this!!!  in her mind, if she were wealthy and important she could fix everything and then it’d be all happily ever after for everyone a la a fairy tale!
What definitive step could they take to turn their dream into a reality?  Marry Edmund and become a literal princess/empress so she can save her sisters and really stick it to her stepmom or, failing that (besides, it'd be pr cool to be bowed and scraped to and wear a crown and a pretty dress!) or marry pr much any of the other male characters so far that aren’t resistance members! bc she's looking to marry rich so she can save her sisters!
How has their fear kept them from taking this action already?  Well, she’d be pr tied down as the wife of an important person and she values her freedom greatly!  how else is she supposed to bask in her precious distractions and adventures?  she couldn’t just take off for the woods at a moment’s notice or prank Amira (she’d probs be executed for that tbh ;D) or smth, plus – and this is the worst one in her mind – lbr she probs wouldn’t be able to see her sisters nearly as much and, gods, she doesn’t know how she’d ever, ever do w/o them!  So!  her solution?  ignore all of this and just hope things continue 100% the way they are rn, forever, problems and all!
How does your protagonist feel they can accomplish their goal while still steering clear of the thing they are afraid of?  Change, of any kind, is anathema!  everything stays the same <3  failing that (bc inevitably that one’ll collapse around her and she knows this), marry someone rich and handsome and powerful who adores her and buy her way to success <3

House of the Dragon star Emily Carey cuddles up rescue pets at re-homing centre
New Post has been published on https://petnews2day.com/pet-industry-news/pet-charities/house-of-the-dragon-star-emily-carey-cuddles-up-rescue-pets-at-re-homing-centre/
House of the Dragon star Emily Carey cuddles up rescue pets at re-homing centre
In need of cute pics of cats and dogs to brighten up your week? We’ve got the antidote (Picture: PA)
If you’re having a stressful time at the moment and need some wholesome content to make you feel better, we’ve got just the thing.
House of the Dragon star Emily Carey recently visited the Blue Cross re-homing centre and, honestly, the pictures are too cute for words.
The TV star met both fury friends and members of staff at the centre in Kimpton, Hertfordshire, in celebration of the animal charity’s 125th anniversary this year.
Emily, who starred as Alicent Hightower in House of the Dragon’s first part, formed a bond with adorable cats Monty and Squid during her visit, and got to feed and play with them.
Squid was extremely fond of Emily, after he was taken into the centre as a kitten when a member of the public rescued him after finding him in a van engine at nine weeks old.
The star, who got their big break appearing in BBC’s Casualty, also looked in their element as they took two of the dogs for a walk in the fields – an 11-year-old husky cross named Carlie, and a seven-year-old terrier mix called Tilly, who are both looking for new homes.
The House of the Dragon star cosied up to the cats who are looking for new homes (Picture: PA)
The furry friends definitely took a shine to her (Picture: PA)
Resident dog Carlie was previously re-homed, but was returned by her owner after ill health meant they were no longer able to care for her, so she’s hoping someone else will scoop her up sometime soon.
And it seems the animals were a big fan of Emily’s too, as they didn’t shy away from cosying up to her – do they play House of the Dragon at the centre, we wonder?
Her appearance at the Blue Cross centre allowed her to speak to the workers about the vital work that they do for the charity, providing care for sick, injured, and homeless pets.
Emily got to see first hand how the work of Blue Cross changes pets’ lives for the better (Picture: PA)
The TV star got to take the resident dogs out for some fresh air (Picture: PA)
Emily described their visit to the charity’s centre as ‘wonderful’ (Picture: PA)
Blue Cross has been helping pets in need for over a century, and now with four animal hospitals, five pet care clinics, and 11 rehoming centres in the country, their selfless care for vulnerable animals has changed lives, which Emily got to witness first hand.
The 19-year-old actor described her visit as ‘wonderful’ and it’s clear she’s an animal lover, as she herself owns a cavapoo called Dottie.
‘I love pets and am so grateful to have my dog Dottie in my life and to have been able to visit Blue Cross’s Hertfordshire rehoming centre to see their work first hand, I am also extremely grateful to them for all they do to help pets,’ she said.
Honestly, our hearts have melted (Picture: PA)
‘The pets I got to meet all had their own stories, and it’s wonderful to know that Blue Cross were able to step in to help when they needed it.
‘Walking Tilly and Carlie was amazing, I’m so happy to have met them and had the opportunity to spend some time with them before they make their next step to live happy lives in new homes.’
As for their work on the Game Of Thrones spin-off, Emily has gained a whole host of fans after the series gained plenty of traction online.

In fact, the star admitting to finding comfort in a classic toy to cope with all the chaos – yup, it’s Lego.
‘Inside these four walls of my little flat, nothing has changed,’ Emily told Elle in September.
‘I went out to buy sweet potatoes yesterday. It was the first time I’d left the house since the show had come out, had a mask on, was picking up a reusable produce bag and filling it with sweet potatoes, and someone was like, “I love House of Dragon!” And I was like, “Oh, cool.” I kind of forget that I’m in it, I guess.’
More: Trending
‘On buses and billboards, I step outside my house, and the bus stop is like, House of the Dragon. It’s overwhelming. It’s intense. I’ve been building a lot of Lego to cope,’ she continued.
After starring in the show’s first part, Emily would love to return, but is unsure whether it could happen due to the secret nature of the show’s production.
House Of The Dragon is available to stream on NOW.

E oh come vola a Rhaenyra!
Immagina se House of the Dragon rallentasse, solo un po', e ci lasciasse vivere nell'incertezza.

@avatriceaf I've fallen off the wagon re: reading actual books and my memory is like cheese cloth so I read your question and blanked. It's probably easier for people to list books and for me to likely tell you that I haven't read it. Lol
I think everything I'd list is like a generation ago in terms of narrative. I went through an intense period when I was figuring myself out looking for books, so I was reading all the classics like Annie on my Mind. The LGBT scene has changed so fast. I haven't read the Priory or Gideon books, so I'm way out of touch. All those books I saw in the store today were complete news to me. (So many space gays.) I had no idea Valente had written anything LGBT! I really love Valente's Fairyland series.
The most recent novel I read and liked was The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins.
Novels I'll always be fond of:
The Miseducation of Cameron Post by emily danforth
A Love Story Starring my Dead Best Friend by Emily Horner
Ash by Malinda Lo
If I had to list a Sarah Waters book, Fingersmith. Was totally into The Paying Guest until the last third or so.
Jacqueline Carey's original Kushiel trilogy was my secret pleasure in that time I wasn't really out, even to myself, of which Kushiel's Dart, the first book, will always be the best in my opinion.
The concept of The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin has never left me.
The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith has a lot of value for me in a complicated way. Lol

Thank you all for your patience as we worked through the applications, and for your patience in the upcoming days as we update the pages and get everything started. All of these applications were incredible, and we thoroughly enjoyed reading every single one. We’ll be reaching out to some of you who have applied for skeleton characters (which received multiple applications) with ideas we have for how to make the character you’ve created into an original one, so be sure to check the inbox of the account that you used to send your application for a message. Otherwise, anyone who doesn’t receive a message from us is more than welcome to re-apply for a different original character during our next round of acceptances. We ask that you just create a new one to avoid characters being too similar.
We ask for your continued patience tonight when it comes to OOC interactions. As much as we’d love to get straight to plotting, the two of us are pretty much fried! We both are going to head to bed now, but we’ll be on in the morning to send out links to join the OOC blog and OOC discord if you so choose! Then we’ll have the whole day tomorrow to talk about Wade!

This is the first in my Graphic Reading Wrap Up series.
I read enough manga, comics and graphic novels that I figured I’d be better off doing separate wrap ups so I don’t find myself having to cram a shit ton into my reading wrap ups every month. I want to spend more time actually talking about what I read, especially graphic fiction/non-fiction, which I get through so much of that I feel like I don’t spend enough time explaining my thoughts.
If you would like longer reviews of anything I talk about in this post, let me know. I have some P L A N S for Christmas blogging to make up for what will be a smaller November upload month.
#1 is my first wrap up after my September wrap up, if you want to see what else I’ve read.
Assassination Classroom Volume 5 by Yusei Matsui
I’m very fond of this series, and the growth of its characters. The prioritisation of developing the students and their self esteem is so incredible: rather than beating his students down, Korosensei works them towards improvement, and it’s interesting seeing so many layers of characters who aren’t strictly good or evil. This volume has the end of the baseball arc, a fight against the new PE teacher, and the next arc is another assassination attempt on Korosensei, which is exciting.
Check, Please! Book 1: #Hockey by Ngozi Ukazu
I’ve been reading this webcomic since 2016, so finally being able to pick up this volume now I have money has been a long time coming. I hold every character deep in my heart and I know pretty much every chapter/episode like the back of my hand, so reading this was more like revisiting an old friend than something new. I HIIIIGHLY recommend this webcomic, and I will only discuss it with you if you also rate it 5 stars and love it unconditionally!
The Adventure Zone: Murder on the Rockport Limited by the McElroy’s (especially Clint) and Carey Pietsch
This is my favourite arc in the podcast, so I was expecting to love it more than I did. It feels like some of the humour isn’t translated as well over to these graphic novels, but I think changes made are important to fit the format. I think this works well for people who are fans of the podcast, but I’d definitely recommend the podcast first for other people, just to understand the characterisation and the D&D self-inserts Griffin has. But I will say…. Angus McDonald is still my baby boy and I love him.
Momo to Manji Volume 1 and 2 by Sawa Sakura
A very heavy series, while still being cute. Momo to Manji is set during the Edo Period and follows a male prostitute who is taken in by another man after growing too old to still serve. It has confusing moments, and has very dark material– some violence, obviously prostitution, as well as incest and very young characters having sex with adults– but the relationship between the two main characters is very endearing, and I really grew to care about Momo especially.
Welcome to Wanderland #4 by Jackie Ball (not pictured)
Finally got to read issue 4! A very quick and fantastical series, and I think the new artist did a great job helping finish up a series that was very dear to the hearts of the writer and the original artist. I was satisfied with this conclusion and I think I’ll end up re-reading it, maybe next year, just to experience the full story in all its glory.
Fragments of Horror by Junji Ito
This is a solid 3 star collection. None of the stories really lingered with me other than Gentle Goodbye, which is now one of my favourite short stories. It’s a beautiful and incredibly moving story for me, even if that wasn’t Ito’s original intention when writing it as a horror story. There’s something to be said about generational horror and ghosts, and what family means to different individuals.
Dissolving Classroom by Junji Ito
My new favourite Junji Ito manga! There’s a focus on body horror, as there always is, but this felt more… fun. Chizumi is a nightmare child, I think she’s so great and definitely up there with my favourite children in horror now. I know the ending will be hit or miss with other people, but it’s not like Uzumaki, where I waited 600 pages to be disappointed at the end.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Volume 1, 2 & 3 by Kore Yamazaki
A series I’m very much in the middle about. I’m enjoying the fantastical elements, but the setting and time period are so confusing to wrap my head around in terms of modernity. It very much reminds me of Lore Olympus in that regard, but that webcomic is more straightforward in explaining, so I just don’t know with this manga. There’s also something stopping me for completely loving the characters. I’m not a fan of age-gap romances that don’t spell out what’s going on: is this romantic, or is it purely platonic? If I don’t know where I’m supposed to stand, I can’t feel at ease reading it.
The Avant-Guards #7 & #8 by Carly Usdin
This series is so good! Great cast of characters who are believable in their love for one another and their basketball playing. There’s a genuine wholesomeness to this series that really reminds me of Check, Please! and Haikyuu!!. What is it with sports stories and exclamation marks? Anyway, I highly recommend this series, I’m glad it’s been longer running than Usdin’s other stories. Also, did you see the Heavy Vinyl graphic novel announcement? SICK.
Lovely Complex Volume 2 by Aya Nakahara
This series is getting better by volume. It definitely draws on cliches and tropes of the genre, but I really enjoy that, and I’m still attached to the characters and the slow burn complexity of the feelings between the two leads. It’s easy reading where the conflicts never linger and isn’t at all difficult to get through, which is definitely something I need more of in my reading.
Parasyte Volume 1 by Hitoshi Iwaaki
Meh. For some reason, I was really expecting to love this– a dude learning to live with a parasite who controls his arm is a great premise– but there was something about the writing that stopped me from feeling compelled. I can’t really feel any risk, and that’s something I like in my horror. The body horror is also not too great, which was one of the selling points for me. Sad! Not sure if I’ll carry on with this series, honestly.
Out of Skin  by Emily Carroll
Another freaky short story from Emily Carroll, who honestly does no wrong in my eyes. Amazing art– character design, colour palette, all of it, amazing– and the eerie story at its heart. I love Emily Carroll’s focus on more feminine voices and stories, it never feels exploitative of women and draws on violence towards women without feeling nasty or targeted.
Teen Dog by Jake Lawrence
The ULTIMATE graphic novel. Literally, one of my all time favourites. It’s the perfect balance of silly and existential, and I genuinely love every moment of reading this. It was my second read through and I just smiled the whole time.
Are you a fan of this new recapping format? I found it a lot more easy to only talk about manga/comics/graphic novels, and doing this means I don’t put myself under pressure to get wrap ups out at the same time every month and have about 40 things to get through in one go!
I’d love some recommendations in the comments.
If you liked this post, consider buying me a coffee? Ko-Fi.

>> Strange times <<The poll winners' party
It probably won't surprise you to learn that champagne corks were popping at 10pm prompt at the Baby Shard on Thursday night, as the Times and the Sun celebrated the projected result of the exit poll.
It's also unlikely to surprise you to learn that Rupert Murdoch, Rebekah Brooks, Les Hinton and all the usual News UK suspects were there too, getting their fourth and fifth trolleys of booze brought in to the office by the time Blyth Valley announced.
The one thing that might surprise you though is that in among the revellers was... Cate Blanchett. This year's series of Love Island has taken three of the top ten spots in Ofcom's list of most complained-about shows of 2019.
>> Straight shooter <<Randy Andy makes 'em standy
It's been a bruising few weeks for Prince Andrew since his cataclysmic interview with Emily Maitlis – but he's probably brimming over with remorse and humility now, right?
Erm.
Earlier this month, Handsy Andy went on another of his (straightforward) shooting weekends. At breakfast one morning, everyone else in the party was sat quietly reading the papers when Andy came into the room.
As no-one stood up for him when he entered, he bellowed "OH HO HO! LET'S TRY THAT AGAIN, SHALL WE?" Then walked out of the room and re-entered, so that everyone could oblige him. There's a This Morning team WhatsApp group entitled "We Hate Phillip".
>> Big Questions <<Who's asking what this week?
What could have caused the Mail to pull a recent exclusive of theirs about a French masseuse meeting with Prince Andrew at Buckingham Palace back in 2000? The story made the paper's front page at the end of November but, save for a report of the Mail's report in the New York Post, there's no trace of it online now.If you subscribe to Popbitch, chances are your internet search history is something you'd rather was kept private. >> Westwood ho <<Getting loose with Ivanka
Before she became the accomplished businesswoman and occasional threat to global security that she is today, Ivanka Trump had teenage ambitions of becoming a fashion model.
Thanks to her family connections, she was seen for a number of jobs in the late 90s and became a bit of a favourite of Vivienne Westwood. Westwood's team used to make a point of letting the models pick the music they put on in the studio as a way of helping them to relax and feel comfortable on a shoot.
Ivanka's choice of music, every single time? Jamiroquai. Which she would then sing along to.
Peanut from the Kaiser Chiefs is preparing to run his 100th park run over the Christmas holidays.
>> Bah humbug <<More drama at the BBC
The BBC is going heavy on trailing their version of A Christmas Carol this year, making a big song and dance out of the fact it stars Guy Pearce, is written by Peaky Blinders' Steven Knight and has been exec produced by Tom Hardy. One person who's been a little left out in the cold though is director Nick Murphy.
Poor Nick was so miffed that the BBC didn't invite him to take part in a special Q&A event about the show that he ended up turning up anyway to rage at the head of BBC Drama there. His ire hasn't just been reserved for TV execs either as he's started taking pot shots at Tom Hardy on Twitter too, claiming that the catering department was more involved in production than Hardy.
There may be some lingering resentment there, as Hardy was set to star in A Christmas Carol (as well as produce) until he suddenly decided to bail out. But if you ask us, Nick, you had a lucky escape.
On set at Hardy and Knight's previous BBC1 collab, Taboo, crew members reported that Hardy wasn't shy about staying in character, stark-bollock naked, for much of the time. And we can only imagine what it would have been like trying to direct with the Ghost of Christmas Past's dick and balls wafting all around.
Nick Cave Watch: Everyone's favourite goth dad was spotted at an Elton John concert in Melbourne this week.
>> Picture this <<More corporate creepiness
One of Jeffrey Epstein's former employees claims that Epstein kept a 6ft portrait of his mysterious 'fixer' Ghislaine Maxwell above the pool in his sprawling New Mexico mansion. Not just any old portrait though. One of her naked and "posing provocatively".
He wouldn't be the first icky businessman to have had a life-size nudey portrait of a close associate on their wall though. West Ham's porn-purveying chairman, David Sullivan, was once well known in the football world for having a huge painting hung in his basement office.
Of his now Vice-Chairman at West Ham FC, Dame Karren Brady.Andy Coulson has been advised by friends that having his own name in his new PR firm (Coulson Partners) is enough to stop most major organisations from hiring them. So far it's advice that he (and his ego) seem unwilling to take.
>> Shaky casting <<Merry Christmas everyone!
This year's bleak seasonal murder drama, Responsible Child (based on the real life story of a 14 year-old killer who was tried as an adult and jailed) has been getting rave reviews.
Whether it was the shocking nature of the story, or the impressive performance of the child actor who inhabited the role, we couldn't tell you, but for some reason most of the reviews have failed to mention the most important thing about the production.
The kid who plays the murderer is the grandson of Shakin' Stevens.
This week's Media Masters podcast is a chat with historian and broadcaster David Starkey. His outspoken, unforgiving style and trenchant opinions have earned him a reputation as being "the rudest man in Britain". In this in-depth interview he explains the impact it's had over his career.
[Listen/Download on Media Masters]
>> One love <<The race for Xmas No.1
Now that The X Factor is an utterly spent force, and December streaming is dominated by seasonal classics, the annual race for Christmas No.1 has become a much more unpredictable beast.
Re-releases are subjected to permanent ACR restrictions ('Accelerated Chart Ratio') with streaming, which basically means that old, established classics have to generate twice the number of streams as new tracks in order to compete. (Without this, three of the top four last Friday would have been Mariah Carey, Wham! and The Pogues.)
So who's in the running this year? There's another tedious song about sausage rolls from Ladbaby (hideous; but for a good cause). There's the inevitable Ed Sheeran (this year on Stormzy's record). And of course, there's the now traditional Facebook campaign choice.
Facebook campaigns are a bit of a lost cause but it has to be said: of all the songs that the British public could have picked to champion this year, Jarvis Cocker's "(Cunts Are Still) Running The World", is a pretty good one.
[Join the campaign]
REO Speedwagon's original of Can't Fight This Feeling has been streamed more than Bastille's John Lewis ad cover since its release in mid-November.
>> Electile dysfunction <<Another cock up on the Beeb
On election day, there are very strict rules in the UK which forbid news organisations from discussing politics until polling is closed. Which means that news teams have to ignore the biggest story of the day and compile their news bulletins from whatever innocuous filler they can drum up instead.
As part of their non-political Six O'Clock News broadcast last Thursday, BBC1 chose to air an item about the postal service and people sending tiny items in oversized parcels. Alas, it seems there was a very good reason that the Six O'Clock News hadn't touched that story previously.
One of the parcels that was prominently displayed as part of the pre-watershed segment clearly showed a cock ring.Nominative Determinism of the Week: The Senior doorkeeper of the House of Commons... Phil Howse!

October Recap:
I read more books this month than in any other month this year, and I actually read some really excellent books, too. Most importantly though, the book club I helped start had its first meeting, discussing Gods of Jade and Shadow :D My favorite books this month were Harrow the Ninth, Network Effect, and Beach Read!
Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir: 5/5
Felicity by Mary Oliver: 2.5/5
An Accident of Stars by Foz Meadows: 3.5/5
Network Effect by Martha Wells: 5/5
Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey: 4/5, re-read
Beach Read by Emily Henry: 5/5
One-Punch Man, Vol. 1 by ONE: 4/5
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia: 4/5
Strangers in Their Own Land by Arlie Russell Hochschild: 3/5
