Could you do a Jay Halstead x Sister reader store where she and Jay have a car accident and she is seriously injured and then Will blames Jay for the accident
Tumblr media
painful ride - jay & will halstead x sister reader.
overview: you get into an accident because you were late home while living with jay, your oldest brother blames jay.
trigger warning; angst, arguments, pain, car accident, hospitals, injury, almost death.
AHH i’m half way through writing and i just re-read the request and found out i read it wrong! it’s 3am i can’t rewrite this now, but i still want to post it! if you want another version more accurate please send another request! i’m so sorry!!
i kinda hate this, but i guess i could make this into a two part fic where the reader gets through everything with the help of her brothers, and who is named at the end, maybe a little love story could come from it.
let me know if you’d like that ^^

you were late. it’s not that jay was controlling he just liked to set boundaries while his 20 year old sister was staying at his. you couldn’t be home any later then 10:30pm, it was currently 11:15. you were out with some friends having lost track of time when you realised you were late.
rushing out to your car you got in glancing down at the phone seeing 3 missed calls from jay. you loved your brother but he had the tendency to get a bit too over protective sometimes especially when he’d had a bad case.
his over protectiveness wasn’t a bad thing, but you preferred living with your oldest brother will. his hours at work more set in stone so he was home more, and he was a better cook.
you sent jay a quick message ‘i’m okay, i’m sorry i’m late i lost track of time. on my way now, i’ll be as quick as i can’ you sent the message and started driving. jay knew you never meant to be late it just scared him having seen the things that happen to young women alone on the street at night.
you began driving, trying to get back to jay’s apartment as fast as you could but getting stuck at an intersection made you sigh, you hated being late you didn’t want to make jay worry. when the light finally went green you began to drive across the intersection, everything happened so fast. your phone ringing looking down to see jays caller ID when you looked back up someone smashed right into the side of your car, causing your car to be pushed closer to oncoming traffic, you felt another hit to the front of the car as pain consumed your body, and you felt drowsy.
the pain almost unmanageable, like nothing you’d ever felt before, the blood rushing to your head, you could feel the pulse in your ears as you fell in and out of consciousness your chest tightened making it harder to breathe, a pain shooting down your spine before it became to much and you fell unconscious.
you heard someone calling your name, it sounded so far away. your eyes fluttered open seeing you were still stuck in the car struggling to breath, the amount of pain you were in causing a sob to leave your mouth. the sound of someone calling your name became louder as you looked around you saw firefighters recognising the one stood right outside your window. kelly.
“y/n! can you hear me? i’m gonna break the back window and get in with you okay?” your brain barely processing what he was saying but you managed to nod which caused you even more pain. you heard a smash from the back window and what sounded like a bit of a struggle before kelly showed up again next to you.
“it’s okay kid we’re gonna get you out.” he tried comforting you while putting a neck brace on, tears slowly falling from your eyes.
“kelly- i ca- can’t breathe-“ you mumbled, your voice raspy which caused a look of concern to show up on his face which made tears fall faster down your cheeks making your difficulty breathing more severe.
“it’s okay breathe slowly in and out with me. i’ve got you. squad is working really hard to get you out. does anywhere else hurt?” he asked, which made you realise you couldn’t feel your legs. the panic you felt was like nothing you’d ever felt before.
“i- i.. can’t feel my legs” you managed to say while gasping for air, kelly had an idea as to what was wrong with your lungs, but what you just said could confirm a spinal injury. the lack of oxygen to your lungs made your vision blurry and begin fading. and eventually everything became too much causing you to fall back into darkness.
“will!” will heard his name being called as he was walking back into the ER from radiology to collect some x-ray results. he rushed into the ER after hearing his name being called, it had become a habit that normally when he hears that it’s jay.
but upon entering the ER and getting closer to where there was commotion his heart dropped and his blood ran cold as he saw his baby sister begging transferred from a gurney to a hospital bed covered in blood. disregarding the x-ray results on the side he ran into trauma one to begin treating you.
“y/n? it’s will i’m here okay you’re gonna be fine” he said not knowing if he was comforting himself or his unconscious sister as he began frantically taking your vitals.
“pulse is weak, oxygen levels are low! possible internal bleeding she needs emergency surgery now!” will exclaimed, he wasn’t a surgeon, he couldn’t do it. and legally he wasn’t even allowed to be treating you.
as they began take you into surgery the bright lights made your eyes sting as you gained consciousness again, squinting still in excruciating pain you saw familiar ginger hair.
“will- jay called.. i was at- i was at the- intersection i looked down-“ hearing your weak raspy voice broke something inside him.
“it’s gonna be okay y/n. you’re safe now” he offered a soft smile walking beside you him and other doctors surrounding your bed as they took you into a surgery room..
“i can’t feel- feel my legs will-“ he watched as tears brimmed in your eyes as you struggled keeping them open, he gently brushed some of your hair from your face, revealing the dried blood almost entirely covering your face.
you struggled keeping your eyes open but the only thing you could think of was if you didn’t make it, you wanted to make sure the last thing you saw was family, before everything returned to darkness as your eyes closed for the third time.
by the time will had left you in the surgery room he’d found out a few things about your condition before returning to the ED were jay was stood with maggie, running his hand through his hair concerned utterly etched onto his face. when jays eyes landed on will he rushed towards him.
“is she okay?! why didn’t you call me? kelly told me” jay exclaimed out of concern for you, wills was so overwhelmed. he was pissed off at jay.
“you’re stupid curfew jay! she’s 20 years old, you called her she looked down at her phone now look at what’s happened!” jays face dropped at his brothers outburst, guilt now flooding through his veins.
“what? i just- i just protect her. will is she okay?!” he didn’t care if wills was pissed off, he could take it he just wanted to hear the latest on you first.
“she’s in emergency surgery, cracked ribs punctured her lungs, internal bleeding, possible spinal injury she told me she couldn’t feel her legs. she lost a lot of blood, she had fluid coming out of her ears which indicates a head injury so no! no jay she is not okay! well done for protecting her. could’ve got her killed” will exclaimed the frustration not even beginning to help with his feelings. jays heart dropped the hairs on the back of his neck standing tall as he listened to the extent of what will currently knew about your injuries.
“the curfew is to make sure she gets home safe! i know what happens to girls out late on the streets of chicago.” jay said in an attempt to make will see it from his point of view and make himself feel better.
“yeah, you should also know what happens when rushing people and calling people when they’re driving on a time limit so they don’t get shouted at when they get home!” jays guilt made bile rise in his throat, as he attempted to swallow it down wills spoke again.
“might as well go home and bring her some stuff. she’s not gonna be out of surgery for hours if she makes it” will stated in complete grief he knew as a doctor the extent of your injuries would be hard to survive let alone make a full recovery from. and in that moment will needed someone to blame. jay stood in disbelief infront of his older brother as wills walked away back in the direction he came from.
jay walked into the waiting from and began pacing, the guilt consuming him as he ran a hand through his hair. he stayed stood pacing trying to come to a conclusion in his head where it wasn’t his fault, he should’ve known better. he didn’t know if you would make it, and if you did he didn’t know if you’d even want to see him? would you hate him?
hours past and jay was still pacing up and down the waiting room so many different scenarios racing through his head, when finally will walked in his eyes rimmed red and that made jays heart drop, jay had never felt so scared in his life as he approached will.
“is she alive?” jay asked his voice weak as he looked at his brother. as he shoved his shaking hands into his pockets.
“she’s alive, she’s not paralysed. she’s in the icu. the fixed her lungs and repaired all the internal damage. but she essentially fractured the lower part of her spine. it’s a hairline fracture we believe will heal on its own she will be able to walk again with physio therapy but she’ll suffer with back pain and possible other complications indefinitely. she also fractured her skull and has a brain bleed but we believe that should also heal on its own but will be extremely painful. she’s living with me, i’ll get her to her appointments once she gets out of here i’ll look after her” will explained in full detail to jay as tears brimmed in both brothers eyes, jay couldn’t help but feel responsible.
“and jay, what i said earlier.. was wrong. this isn’t your fault. it’s just she got here on the brink of death she couldn’t breathe and all she told me was she was on the intersection you called her she looked down then this happened. it’s not your fault okay, things happen i shouldn’t have taken it out on you like that” a tear slipped down jays cheek as will brought him into a hug, jay had never felt like this before. so helpless, and responsible.
“can we see her?” will nodded and gestured for jay to follow him up to icu, jay still felt exceptionally guilty. the feeling still not having left the pit of his stomach.
his chest tightened with anxiety the closer to your room he got, will looked back at jay before approaching the door and slowly opening it. both brothers walked into the room going to opposite sides of your bed and sat down.
the sight of you attached to machines, and being covered in cuts and bruises made jay second guess everything, all he ever wanted to do was protect you, he knew he was over protective but he never thought something like this would be the result.
they sat next to you, one brother on either side of your body. loosing track of the amount of time they both sat there. hours felt like days. both brothers still processing what happened.
you groaned, as your eyes fluttered open the bright light stinging your eyes as pain shot through your head and spine. jay and wills heads both shot up to look at you.
“y/n? how are you feeling?” will jumped up onto his feet checking the machine you were connected to that read your vitals.
“like i got hit by a truck” you groaned voice raspy and weak, your throat dry as a bone. jay watching as you didn’t even look over at him just looking up at will.
“are you okay kiddo?” jay voiced looking to see if your head turned to him which it did.
“yeah.. i’m sorry i was late” you whispered looking at your protective brother, you still felt bad for being late. not wanting jay to be upset with you.
“hey no no it’s okay. it’s fine i’m sorry” he spoke softly moving a piece of hair from your face and tucking it behind your ear.
“what happened? will it hurts” you looked across to your oldest brother who turned around as he heard you speak injecting something into your IV, pain meds.
“that should help with the pain.. you got in an accident.” will said moving round to the end of the bed pulling the blanket away from your feet.
“can you wiggle your toes for me y/n?” you nodded trying your best, both will and jay had a look on their faces you hadn’t seen before which filled you with anxiety.
“what? will?” you asked with panic laced in your voice, looking back at jay.
“you had a spinal injury, but you’re going to be okay. you just have a lot of physio therapy ahead of you” will offered a small smile but tears began welling up in your eyes at the thought, jay reached for your hand in an attempt to comfort you.
“y/n you will be able to walk again, you just got out of surgery a month or two of physio and hopefully things will start going back to normal.” will said returning to his seat next to you.
“we will be here for you every step of the way. blake gallo from 51 said he’s here for you whenever. you know blake he’ll help you too. you’re not alone.” jay said, he wasn’t wrong. you knew you had plenty of people to help you and the mention of blake made your heart flutter slightly. you nodded at your brothers words knowing you wouldn’t be alone throughout all of this.

Jesse is back directing episode 12 of Chicago PD and I’m just gonna say one thing about it bc my soul needs it lifted off me
The fact that he’s so excited is amazing and he’s literally having so much fun doing it which is incredible
But the elephant in the room has been swirling in my head for a few days and I’m over it:
If Hailey Upton gets as atrocious of a character exit as Jay Halstead did there are a couple of conclusions we can come to.
(Basically if Gwen decides that Hailey And Jay can’t find a way to re mend their relationship off screen in some sort of way at the same time as whatever Hailey’s next journey will be that is true to her character)
1. Gwen just doesn’t have what it takes to translate how a fandom can support and lift up a show (or understand how it’s impact benefits or hurts said show) (ie. pd having some of its lowest ratings in show history)
2. Gwen has some extremely strange obsession with women’s trauma making them “stronger” and that isn’t gonna be something she’s gonna let go of.
3. It won’t be a matter of “Jesse had other obligations and the schedule just didn’t work out”. It will be because she doesn’t actually care about these characters that much. If she wanted to she would and right now I see like a 5% chance if it’s entirely up to her bc the bottom line is really what she’s concerned about. And that’s sort of why I’m not a fan anymore bc that’s not worth my time and effort
✨other shows complete casts and crews have shown how much their fans matter to the core of their shows much better than Gwen ever has and I personally gave her the benefit of the doubt in the beginning that I no longer afford her✨
(And just to be 100% clear none of this is directed at any of the cast and only Gwen because they make none of these decisions at all:))))

20 questions for fic writers
tagged by the fabulous @cfr749. Please go read her fics and join me in screeching over them!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 28
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 103,520
3. What fandoms do you write for? The Rookie (Chenford), and previously for Chicago PD (Linstead)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? - stay - i want you to be happier - i don't wanna think of anything else (now that i thought of you) - all at once this is enough - now everything is easy (cause of you)
5. Do you respond to comments? I didn't when I first started posting fics (though I often think about going back and replying to them now, but that would probably be weird lol). But yes, now I definitely respond to comments. I am absolutely giddy over every single one I receive, and so I love to express that appreciation!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hmmmm I don't think any of them? I tend to leave even the angstiest fics on a hopeful note. But I suppose either just close your eyes (you'll be alright) or you know the greatest films of all time were never made just because of where they land in relation to the events of the show?
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably in paper rings, in picture frames, and all my dreams, because, hello, 💍
8. Do you get hate on fics? Thankfully I have only seen positive feedback, which is so so lovely. This fandom is wonderful 💖
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do not, because I'm too chicken. Maybe one day? (iykyk)
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? No. I can't stand crossover fics. 😬
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?  Not by me!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! My babe @timandlucy and I have a collab that we started a while ago and have recently talked about picking up again! And we have an idea for another one brewing too! And @makeitastrength and I have on that's sitting on the backburner, but hopefully we will make happen!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Chenford!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I want to say none because I'm way too fucking stubborn to give up on anything. But *sigh* Home... 😬😬😬😬😬 (it's been 5½ years, so it's not looking particularly hopeful)
16. What are your writing strengths? Oh man, I don't know? I hope I do a decent enough job of getting their voices right? Dialogue is often a battle, but that's probably because of how insane particular I am. I will say things out loud, play around with words, etc. to make sure it really feels like something they would say.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Being too indecisive and my lack of confidence (which, frankly, go hand in hand).
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I haven't done it, but I would definitely be looking to lean on a native speaker to ensure I do it correctly!
19. First fandom you wrote for? Chicago PD (Linstead)
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? So hard, but i want you to be happier has a special place in my heart. It was a challenge to write, but the words still came so easily. And when I go back and re-read it, I don't cringe, so that's a win right there!
Thanks Lana! 🥰
Tagging @timandlucy @roguetwelve @makeitastrength @silverskull @goodgirlssayiloveyoutoo @chenfordspiral @sisterofficerlucychen @thisnightissparkling089 💕

Yet You’re Still Here | Tommy Shelby x Reader
Tumblr media
Request: no - part of @solomons-finest-rum ‘s 800 followers celebration
Pairing: Tommy Shelby x reader
Summary: An unexpected visitor late at night has pulls (Y/N) into Tommy Shelby's world in a way she never imagined.
Warnings: language, smoking, sexual situation (PG-13 rated), weapons, violence (typical to series), minor character death, possessive behavior
Word Count: 3993
A/N: I really hope that I captured the essence of film noir correctly in this story — I’ve never seen one but did some research and tried my best to include some characteristics in the story. The prompt I chose was “what are your plans?” “for what?” “for the rest of your life.” ... I also used some dialogue and a plotline from an episode of Chicago PD that I felt would really tie in nice with Peaky. Also congrats again to @solomons-finest-rum for hitting 800 followers! Enjoy! :)
I’D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! - YOUR COMMENTS & REBLOGS HELP ME WRITE!
Let me know if you’d like to be tagged in stories similar to this one!

"Are you sure, Tommy?" (Y/N) asked in a rush as she shut the door to his office. She'd just heeded to his request to join him, and from one look in his eye, she knew exactly what he wanted.
"Yes. No one's here," he answered her as he stood from his chair to meet her in the middle of the room. "No one's gonna come in either," he continued his assurances as his hands found her hips. He held her steady, his firm grip allowing him to bring her body even closer to his.
"But...what if..." her rebuttal was cut off by a kiss.
"You can either keep worryin' about someone coming in at one in the morning, or we can get to doin' what we both want to do," he told her, his one eyebrow quirked as a grin took over his features.
"Fuck, Tommy," she breathed, her statement sounding more like a moan of enjoyment rather than a groan of discontent. She didn't quite remember how she went from being one of the Shelby Company Ltd.'s secretaries to privately seeing her boss on the side, but she wasn't at all upset with the arrangement.
His grin only grew as he took her hand and brought her over to the other side of the room. "Desk or chair?" he asked her between the kisses he was littering onto her neck.
"Desk," she answered him, allowing him to promptly lift her up onto the piece of furniture. He slotted himself between her legs and pressed his lips to hers once more, their kisses becoming more heated with each second that passed. (Y/N) hooked her legs around his waist, pulling him even closer to her as her fingers carded through the longer locks that sat atop his head.
Tommy's hands moved from her waist down to her thighs, where he slowly started moving the fabric of her dress up to her hips. Once it was sitting pooled around her waist, he began to undo the buckle of his belt.
"Mr. Shelby! Help!" a frantic voice rang out from the other side of the office door, making the couple's actions come to a screeching halt.
"Fuck," Tommy breathed, disappointment stark in his tone as he stopped his actions and stepped away from the desk. (Y/N) couldn't help but let out a soft whine of displeasure as she watched him re-buckle his belt and straighten up his tie.
"Mr. Shelby!" the person outside called again. It was a voice that (Y/N) hadn’t heard before.
"What?!" Tommy yelled back, now becoming slightly annoyed that this person was pestering him during a time where he thought that they'd be alone.
"You need to get out here," they practically pleaded.
"I'm fucking coming," Tommy responded, letting out a huff before he started walking to the door. (Y/N) turned slightly on the desk and watched him leave. Before he was able to open the door, he turned back to look at her. "Come," he motioned for her to join him.
"Why?" she questioned, her eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"I may need your help," he answered. She didn't question it, but instead got off the desk and made sure that her dress was straightened out once more.
She then quickly made her way over to the door to stand behind Tommy, who nodded to her before pulling his revolver out of the holster inside his jacket. He then turned the doorknob and opened the door. (Y/N) immediately gasped at the sight in front of them. There were two younger men standing in the reception area. They couldn't have been older than twenty. One was standing upright and the other had his arm wrapped around the first's shoulders. He looked to be beaten pretty badly, and he was clutching his side, where blood was staining his white shirt.
"I didn't know where else to take him. He's down bad," the man who was holding the other up spoke in a frantic manner.
"What the fuck happened?" Tommy asked as he re-holstered his revolver.
"I don't know, Mr. Shelby. He...he was like this when he came back to me," he stammered, "he needs help."
Tommy tipped his head back slightly as a sigh escaped his lips. He ran his hand over his face before he pursed his lips, obviously trying to think of what to do next. "Sit him in the chair," he then directed the man who was holding the other up, waving his hand to one of the chairs in the room.
He nodded, helping the other man limp over to the chair so that he could sit down. Once he was sitting, the injured man let out a groan of agony, his hand still clutching onto his side. "I've gotta go now. I...can't stay here," the man who had been helping then said, fear still clear in his eyes.
"Don't speak a word of this to anyone," Tommy told him, his eyes wide and intimidating.
"I won't, Mr. Shelby," the young man vigorously shook his head, the tone of his voice showing that he was speaking the truth.
"Good. Go," Tommy nodded to the door, and that was the cue for the other person to quickly exit the office area. "Fuck," he breathed then, dropping his head for a moment as he took a deep breath.
"I can call the police, Tommy," (Y/N) finally spoke up, the initial shock of it all starting to wear off, "maybe even get an ambulance here."
"No!" Tommy was quick to disagree with her, turning to her with a serious look on his face. "Don't call the police."
"Why not?" (Y/N) was confused. The person sitting in the chair obviously needed medical help.
"Because we cannot go to them with this," he insisted, staring at her for a few moments longer before he turned back to the injured man and began assessing the situation. He moved over to him and slowly lifted his shirt to show a deep gash on the right side of his abdomen. (Y/N) cringed at the sight, but Tommy stayed stoic, his eyes locked onto the younger man's. "We're gonna get you fixed up, yeah?" he assured him before turning to look at (Y/N) again. "Go into me office...get the first aid kit and a bottle of alcohol," he instructed her and with a quick nod, she hurried to get what he needed.
Seconds later, she was setting the items down on the desk next to where Tommy was kneeling. "I don't know if we should do this, Tommy..." she trailed off, her voice unsteady as she watched him lift the bloodied shirt up again, "medical personnel would know what to do."
"(Y/N)..." Tommy sighed as he reached over to open the kit and get some gauze out of it. He then grabbed the bottle of alcohol and dumped a copious amount into the material in his hands.
"I could call the cops. They'd find who did this to this boy," (Y/N) continued, slowly moving backwards to grab the phone from the receiver.
"Don't fuckin' touch that phone, (Y/N)!" Tommy yelled just as her fingers had gripped around the receiver.
"Tommy, why?" (Y/N) was confused, her heart now hurting for the man, who hadn't stopped groaning since the second he sat down.
"We can't call the cops because it was the cops who did this," he told her, the sense of grave honesty laced into his voice making her jaw drop. She blinked a few times, frozen in her spot as Tommy went back to pouring more alcohol onto the gauze. "This is gonna hurt like hell," he told the young man, his eyebrows raised as he then focused on the cut.
Without much warning, he placed the gauze onto the man's abdomen, making him scream out in agony. (Y/N) squeezed her eyes shut at the sound, unable to watch the scene in front of her. Tommy continued on with cleaning the cut, using a fair amount of alcohol to make sure that all of the excess blood had been wiped away.
"One more time," he announced before taking the bottle from the table and dumping some of the alcohol right onto the wound. "Finished," he said, setting the bottle back on the table before he nodded at the man, who at this point had a white-knuckle grip on the side of the table. "(Y/N)..." Tommy then called for the woman standing behind him. He got no response. "(Y/N)!" he tried again, louder this time as he turned to see her standing with her eyes clenched shut.
"What?" she snapped out of the state she was in, her eyes opening again to see that the cut had been cleaned out and Tommy was now standing next to the man, who was still slumped in the chair.
"I need you to sew him up," Tommy told her, motioning to the cut that still looked bad, even though it was less bloody. It wasn't one of those wounds where you slap a bandage on and continue with your life.
"What?" she repeated her previous response, though this time there was confusion laced into it.
"I need you to close up his cut," Tommy reiterated, "you surely know how to sew, yeah?" he raised his eyebrows slightly.
"I do," (Y/N) nodded hesitantly.
"Good. There's a needle and some thread in the box. Close him up so that he doesn't bleed out," he told her what she needed to do.
She sent him a dumbfounded expression, still not wanting to fully accept what was being asked of her. "Tommy, I can't...I..."
"It doesn't need to be perfect...just needs to be closed," he cut her off as he reached into his jacket's pocket and pulled out the pack of cigarettes; desperately needing one at the moment. "I'll be in me office," he then told her, nodding his head to the closed door.
"You're not staying out here with me?" (Y/N) responded, now shocked by this new information.
"No. I have a phone call to make," his answer was definite, and nothing (Y/N) could say or do would change his mind.
"Ok," she nodded her head and swallowed again, trying to get rid of the feeling of a lump in her throat. Tommy nodded in response before he made his way back into his office. (Y/N) took a deep breath and looked at the injured man again. His groans of pain had quieted down, but it was obvious in the way that he was sitting that he was still hurting. "My name's (Y/N)..." she started, trying to put a smile on her face as she slowly moved over to the man, "what's yours?" she desperately tried to make conversation then as she grabbed the things she thought she'd need from the first aid kit.
"Paul," the man's voice was hoarse and weak.
"It's nice to meet you, Paul. I'm going to do everything I can to help you here," she assured him, a polite smile on her face as she got the needle and thread ready. "This will hurt, I won't lie," she prepared him for what was to come, but her words didn't matter as he began groaning in pain the second the needle pierced his skin. "You're ok, Paul, you're ok," she tried to console him as she gritted her teeth and continued on with trying to sew up his cut.
The further she went, the louder the groans got, and the more worried she became. She hated that she was causing him this pain, but on the other hand, she knew that she needed to do this. "Calm down, Paul...take a deep breath," she continued trying to console him, but to no avail, and by the time she had completely stitched up the gash, there were tears in her eyes.
"Is it fucking finished yet?" Paul asked through gritted teeth, his eyes closed tightly.
(Y/N) looped the needle one more time through, making the man groan in agony again, before she used the small scissors to cut the excess off. "It's finished," she told him in a whisper, using the back of her hand to wipe the tears from her eyes.
"Thank you," he said after exhaling a deep breath.
(Y/N) only nodded, also taking a deep breath as she stood from the ground and brushed off the skirt of her dress. "I have to go tell Tommy," she said to the man, "I'll be right back." Surely he didn't care that she had to go, but she didn't want to leave him alone without him knowing.
She walked the few steps to get to Tommy's office and knocked softly on the door. She then opened it once she heard him call for her. He was sitting at his desk, smoking a cigarette when she turned from shutting the door behind her. "I'm finished," she told him, her voice timid.
"How is he?" Tommy asked, his eyebrows raised slightly as he then stood from his desk.
"I'm not a nurse, Tommy," (Y/N) answered him, a bit of anger at the fact that he left her to sew the man up seeping through her words unintentionally, "I've never been a nurse, so I don't know how he is," she continued, the anger prevailing until she finally met his eyes. Once they were locked, she broke. Trying to stay strong though, she choked back a sob and shook her head, "it's bad, Tommy," she said then, her voice turning soft once more.
Tommy recognized this shift though. He stamped out his cigarette in the ashtray on the desk before he walked over to where she was standing. "Hey... he trailed off, his voice now soft, a stark contrast from what it was earlier. (Y/N) glanced up at him after hearing his voice, and he was able to see the tears welling up in her eyes. He let out a sigh and stepped forward, taking her body into his arms. "You did good," he told her, his hand gently rubbing her back.
(Y/N) wanted to let her walls down and just cry all of the pent up emotions out into his shirt, but she couldn't. Some of her was still processing what had happened and what she had to do. Because of that, she wanted to get as far away from the shop on Watery Lane as she could for the night. So she bit her lip and tried as hard as she could to hold the tears in before she took a step out of his embrace. "I have to go home," she told him, then taking another breath to keep herself steady.
Tommy nodded before he spoke. "Ok, you can," he agreed with her decision.
"Thank you," she smiled slightly at him. It felt weird thanking him, but despite the initial reason for her being there so late, he was her employer and she felt the need to.
"I've called someone to help get the boy home," he told her then, "maybe they can also take you to your place," he continued with a suggestion.
(Y/N) shook her head at it, "no, I'll be fine on my own. Thank you though,"
Tommy nodded in response before adding a quick 'ok'.
The two stood in silence for a few moments then before (Y/N) took a deep breath and pulled herself from the haze that she was quickly falling into. "I'll go now," she awkwardly stated, motioning to the door. Tommy nodded again, and (Y/N) finally made a move, turning to walk the few steps back to the door of his small office. "Goodnight, Tommy," she turned once more to send a soft smile in his direction.
"Goodnight, (Y/N)," he returned her farewell, rubbing the back of his head as he watched her exit the room. Once the door was shut, he exhaled a long sigh.
This wasn't how he wanted his night to go. What he thought would be a pleasurable rendezvous with the woman he couldn't seem to get enough of turned into another headache of his thanks to what seemed to be a plan gone wrong. He now needed to talk to Paul and see what happened, as well as loop his brothers in so that they could go and clean up the mess that was most likely made.
The second (Y/N) stepped out of the betting shop, her shaky hands were digging in her purse for a cigarette. As soon as she found them, she brought one to her lips and struck it with a match. A sigh of content was exhaled along with the smoke of the first drag. Sure her mind was still racing, but the nicotine that would be coursing through her system shortly would help to calm her down.
Tumblr media
The next morning, (Y/N) took a deep breath before entering the betting shop on Watery Lane. She was relieved when she found no one else in the small reception room when she entered it, and she immediately went to her desk and began working.
It only took a few minutes for her to be so deeply consumed by the files that she was organizing that she didn't even notice Tommy entering the area.
"Good morning, (Y/N)," he greeted as he approached her desk, his voice finally pulling her out of her work, "you're here awfully early."
"Wanted to get an early start," she shrugged her shoulders as she looked up at him.
He raised his eyebrows slightly, pursing his lips as he nodded his head, "good," he agreed with her, breaking their eye contact for a moment as he looked around the room. He then nodded again before taking a step to his office.
(Y/N) stopped him before he could get too far, "Tommy wait," she called for him.
"Yes?" he asked her, his eyebrows raised as he turned to face her once more, an unlit cigarette now perched between his lips.
"I, uh..." she trailed off, the breath getting caught in her throat for a moment, "I wanted to say sorry...for last night," she continued, her voice lowered as she said the final three words.
"Sorry?" Tommy sounded confused, his brows furrowed now.
"Yes. I'm sorry for stressing you out...for adding more into the situation than there needed to be because of how I reacted to it," she explained herself better.
Tommy blinked a few times, his brows still furrowed as he tried to digest her words and make sense of them. He took a breath before speaking again: "you know what I do."
(Y/N) was slightly confused by his statement, and a bit of an uneasy laugh escaped her lips before she nodded gently. "I mean I'm not an idiot," she responded. She knew what he was getting at, and although she wasn't closely invested into the business that he ran, she knew about the things that the Shelby family had their hands in.
Tommy was still stone-faced, his intent eyes boring into her. "No, you're not," he agreed with her, "you know what I do..." he then repeated himself, his eyes still focused on her. (Y/N) felt the anticipation rising in her as she hung onto his words, waiting to see what he'd say next. "Yet you're still here," he pointed out after a few silent moments, "and you're sorry," he added, turning his head slightly to add to his curious nature.
(Y/N) felt the desire to shrink under his gaze. She'd never been on the receiving end of this particular side of Tommy, and now she knew how he managed to make everything work in his favor. "I...I am," she said, her voice coming out in a whisper as she felt the need to agree with him.
Tommy only nodded slightly at her words. His lips pursed for a moment before he finally dropped his gaze and continued on to his office. (Y/N) let the breath of air she was holding leave her lungs once his door was shut. Her mind was now dizzy from the intense encounter. It was obvious that there were still words left unsaid between them. But for now, she had to get back to her work.
Tumblr media
Some time later, the man from last night came into the reception area where (Y/N) was working. She looked up upon hearing footsteps, and a slight smile formed on her face when she recognized who it was. “Hi, Paul. How are you feeling now?” she asked him.
“I’m doing better than I was. Is, uh...is Mr. Shelby in by chance?” he asked her. (Y/N) didn’t miss the hesitance in his voice and the stiffness in how he was standing. There seemed to be something either bothering or worrying him.
“Yes, he is,” she answered him, deciding not to comment on her observations as she stood from her desk to knock on Tommy’s door. He then asked who it was, and she told him the reason behind her knocking, to which he promptly told her to send the man in. “He’ll see you now,” she told Paul, sending him one last smile before he entered the office and shut the door.
Getting back to work, (Y/N) paid no mind to Tommy’s raised voice. She learned rather quickly that he often spoke in that manner to get his point across to whomever he was talking to. She didn’t really have much time to wonder why he’d be speaking in this manner to Paul, because only several minutes after the young man entered the room, a gunshot rang out. The loudness of it made (Y/N) jump in her seat and quickly look in the direction of the door. She immediately started wondering if she’d actually heard that, as no one else in the building seemed to be reacting to it.
But then the office door opened and Tommy stepped out from behind it. His jacket had now been discarded, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. A lit cigarette was dangling from his lips as he shut the door behind him and took a step into the room (Y/N) was occupying. “I’m going to need you to put a call to the Garrison...tell Isiah to come over and get rid of the body,” he told her nonchalantly, like he was explaining a monotonous task to her.
(Y/N) couldn’t believe what he said. “The body?” she questioned him with shock laced into her voice.
“Can’t have my men going and giving information to specials,” Tommy answered her, taking a drag from his cigarette after he spoke.
(Y/N) swallowed thickly as she nodded and grabbed the phone’s receiver from her desk. She then went about calling the tavern and asking for the person Tommy had wanted. “He’s on his way, Mr. Shelby,” she told him, the formality slipping out before she could stop it.
Tommy noticed it, his eyebrow raising slightly before he nodded his head and began to walk to the archway to the main betting floor. Before he was able to leave the room he stopped and turned to look at (Y/N) once more. “What are your plans, (Y/N)?” he asked, a hint of curiosity behind his voice.
“For what?” she was confused by his sudden question.
“For the rest of your life,” he answered her question, taking another drag before he continued, “you’re mine now, love.”
(Y/N) didn’t respond to him, she didn’t know what to say, and he turned and continued walking out of the room. Her eyes widened slightly as his words sunk in. Maybe this life would be worse than the one she was running from.

"Hey, Kev," I greet my boyfriend as he entered my apartment. "You're late. I thought you just had to finish up some paperwork at the district?"
"I did. But I also had to have a conversation with Voight about all that stuff going on with the blue wall," Kevin spoke.
I frowned. "I thought all of that was over? I thought all of that stuff with you and Doyle was in the past?"
"It's not. In fact, it's only gotten worse. A lot of police officers heard that I wanted to go after Doyle, and now they're coming for me. For my job. They've done some terrible things, Y/n. They showed up to my house one night and parked up and down the street. The following night they jumped me when I got out of my car and beat me up. One of the officers planted dope in my car and then had some other patrol guys pull me over to try and find it. They even broke into my house and planted a bug," Kevin explained.
"Kevin!" I gasp. "Why didn't you tell me any of this? I mean, when I asked about the bruises, you told me you got them from falling off a ladder when you were doing construction at your house."
"I didn't want you to worry, and I definitely didn't want you involved in all of this. I talked with Voight tonight to see what I should do about Nolan, and he said I had two options. One, I get an official complaint put on my record, which means I can never be promoted to detective nor leave Intelligence. Or two, I lose my job," Kevin told me.
"What? That's ridiculous," I comment. "Those options are shit! You didn't even do anything wrong. Doyle was a racist son of a bitch who got himself killed for exactly that. That's the truth about what happened. You have every right to expose him for that."
"I know," Kevin confirmed. "And I didn't like those two options either, so I chose a third one. One I was happy with. I confronted Nolan and told him I'd come after him if he came after me again or anyone in the unit. I told him I'd expose everything he did to me, from the intimidation to the drugs."
"You're so brave, Kev. I'm proud of you," I praise and give him a big hug. "Now, I left your plate of dinner in the microwave. After you eat, want to do something to get your mind off of all of this?"
"Spend some time with my girl? I'm always down for that," Kevin responded and kissed the top of my head. "Want to watch that movie I've been telling you about?"
"I would love too," I answer.
..................................................
The few cases following Kevin and Voight's talk were difficult to get through, to say the least. The tension between the two of them was so thick it was hard to get work down. And the constant arguing didn't help. What I didn't think though, was that Voight would put all of the anger he had about the current situation towards the job.
"L/n, he's getting away. Take the shot," Voight ordered over the radio. I was positioned as a sniper on the roof of a building nearby while the rest of the team was on the ground, blending in at the meeting spot where Adam had set up a drug deal.
"Sarge, he's not armed," I notify my boss. "And we don't even know if he has any product on him."
"Did you not hear me? Take the shot," Voight repeated.
"Voight, I don't think I feel comfortable taki-"
"Take the shot, L/n! Now!" Voight demanded. I hesitated for a second, letting myself lose sight of the target. A moment later though, I re-aimed my scope before firing off one shot that hit our offender right in the leg. On the ground, I learned our offender was indeed unarmed, however, he did have product on him. Back at the district, I was sitting at my desk finishing up some paperwork from our previous case when Voight exited his office and leaned against the doorframe. "L/n, I need to speak to you for a moment. Come to my office."
"Boss, if you've got something to say to me, you might as well say it right here in front of everyone," I declare without looking up.
"All right. What the hell was that back there?" Voight implored. "I gave you the order to take the shot."
"And I did. Surgeons at Med are pulling a bullet out of our guy as we speak," I remind him.
"That man was a dealer who has killed almost a dozen teenagers because of his bad dope. If I tell you to take the shot, I don't want him down a leg. I want him on the brink on death," Voight announced.
"Yeah? Well I wasn't comfortable with taking that shot," I argue and set my pen down, finally glancing up to meet my boss' eyes. "He was unarmed, and he wasn't violent when we were doing our meet. You were asking me to go against everything I've ever been taught in the academy and on patrol. You were asking me to go against my morals, Sarge. What I believe to be right."
"You knew what you signed up for when you joined my unit. You knew how I ran things around here. If you didn't like how I ran things, you shouldn't have joined this unit in the first place," Voight stated.
"Maybe I shouldn't have," I retort. "You're not being a just cop, Voight. You're not even being a good boss. I mean, what kind of person orders one of their officers to do something their not comfortable with? More importantly, what kind of boss tells their officer that he either has to get an official complaint put on his record, meaning he can never get a promotion, or he has to quit. What it sounds like is that you're not standing next to Kevin when he needs you. What it sounds like is that you're taking the other side. You did wrong by Kevin, and now you're doing wrong by me. I don't think this unit is the right place for me anymore, Sarge."
"Y/n," Adam warned.
"No, Ruzek. Let her say her piece. Keep going, L/n," Voight urged. "If you're not in my unit, where are you gonna go? No one wants a cowardly officer in their unit, especially a disobeying one at that."
"I've actually gotten three offers from three different units in the past month," I announce. "I can call up any of them right now and have myself another job."
"Great. Then do it. I expect your transfer papers on my desk tomorrow," Voight spoke before disappearing into his office, slamming the door behind him.
"Y/n, what did you just do?" Jay asked.
"Wasn't it obvious? I just quit," I disclose and get up from my seat, swinging my jacket onto my shoulders. "We should all go to Molly's tonight and celebrate. One last hurrah, you know?"
"So you're just gonna leave us? What the hell, Y/n?" Hailey muttered and pushed past Jay to exit the bullpen.
"I'll go after her, talk some sense into her," Jay said and chased after his partner. I didn't blame Hailey for being upset. Afterall, her and Kim were two of my best friends. Kim got up from her desk next and pulled me in for a hug, squeezing me softly.
"I'm gonna miss you up here," Kim voiced. "Seriously. Who am I supposed to make fun of Adam and Kev with?"
"Hey!" Adam exclaimed. "The two of us are right here!"
"Don't worry, Kim. You're welcome over anytime," I assure her. "That goes for you too, Adam. And Jay and Hailey as well."
"And me," Kevin added and pulled me in for a side hug.
"You already have a key," I point out. "But yeah, you too. Well, I should get going since I technically don't work in this unit. I'll see you guys later. And I'll be by tomorrow to pack up my stuff."
"Y/n! Wait up!" Kevin called out and followed after me, stopping me at the platform past the first set of stairs. "Did you only quit because of what happened between me and Voight? I don't want you to leave if that's the only reason."
"Kev, I quit because this job is ruining me," I confess. "Sure, I also considered what happened between the two of you, but it was mainly because I felt like I wasn't myself when I was here. I don't want to be in a unit that turns me into a version of myself that I don't like. I'm uh, I'm really gonna miss working with you everyday. And I'm definitely gonna miss everyone else. They're my second family."
"I'm proud of you, you know," Kevin told me. "For following your heart. For doing what you think is best for yourself. I'm gonna miss you like hell up here, but I know that you're gonna do great things elsewhere."
"Thanks," I mumble and lean up to give him a quick kiss. "So, Molly's later. Don't forget. And tell Hailey and Jay for me, would ya?"
Kevin nodded. "Sure thing. Now, you know Platt is gonna go on a rampage when you tell her you quit, right?"
"Oh yeah," I confirm. "Trudy Platt will be pissed off, but I'm sure she'll understand. She always does. Speaking of her, I should go talk to her now. I'll see you later, Kev."

I’m a useless lesbian so tell me about Erin, Hailey, and/or Kim in the hockey au!!! 🏒
oh god that's multiple people I have to figure out, huh? uh... I honestly hadn't thought about Erin and Hailey yet. in theory, they have a place in this universe, but it's hard?
Erin
I don't want to keep using the "Jay's girlfriend who left him" thing for Erin because, as much I use it as a plot point, she deserves better than that. I think she'd still have grown up around the Voight family, still had her teenage rebellion, still wanted to do something to pointedly distance herself from her mother and keep something solid under her, if that makes sense? I don't know if I'd make her do the whole Follow In Hank's Footsteps And Be A Cop thing tho.
It would be neat to see her interact with the law in other ways, though? Maybe she went to school, got a degree, isn't exactly a lawyer - because woah that's a lot of school and not quite what I envision for her - but like... I don't know where I was going with this. Maybe some kind of social service job? Maybe doing a community outreach thing? Helping teens who are in a rough spot like she was, running a substance abuse help center? Something like that. Still helping people, just without the badge, if that makes sense.
It's a rich boy Mouse AU, maybe she's loosely friends with Greg because one of her programs benefited from a charity gala one year and they're the same age (canonically!!!) so they ended up talking at the event and now they're Facebook friends and wish each other happy birthday every year and meet up for drinks every few months to catch up.
Hailey
Another difficult one. Because this is very much so a Moustead AU, not Cozy Trio (as much as I love them, I took on too much with YOTP this year and I feel burnt out, so I'm taking a break).
As much as I don't want to do it (because I'm already basically doing it with Chefs AU eventually), it would make a lot of sense, in this universe, for her to be a part of her parents' restaurant, in some way. Not in any meaningful way, at first, but maybe she's the one who suggests expanding? Buying a space in the little arena that the Mice play in and selling food there during games to make a little extra money for the business. And, because it was her idea, it's hers to run with over summer breaks and when she finishes high school - whether it succeeds or she crashes and burns with it.
So she knows Jay, very loosely? Because he was at practice for a few of her location scouting trips, and she was just a kid, and there's no games during the summer so he only saw her on scattered afternoons when he went to skate. She doesn't actually run the little outlet of the restaurant, so to speak, full time until the summer before Jay and Greg meet and start to get together. But like... they know each other's names? And he'll get a late dinner from her if the game goes into OT? They've talked and they're friendly but they're not friends.
Kim
I'm still figuring out the exact details of Kim. Because @fighterkimburgess mentioned that this could easily be an actual siblings AU (Greg and Kim as half siblings because Gregory's a whore), and they're right. And if that's the case for this AU, I want it to be closer to the Gerwitz Siblings AU instead of something where they meet later in life? Where they were kinda-sorta raised together near the end of their teens but aren't as close as they are in that one?
Because it's kind of obvious that Kim is only included in the family for the sake of appearances, and Greg is very clearly being groomed to take over the family business and, presumably, he's the one who will actually pass on the family name to kids (he won't, he's very gay, but it's cute that everyone thinks that), and she definitely falls off the public radar a bit more when she starts dating Adam Ruzek, a player on her father's minor league hockey team. Her decisions don't matter in the grand scheme because the entire family legacy isn't on her shoulders, so she's kind of lucky, in that respect.
She gets to date Adam, and cheer him on openly at games, and be happy. Unlike her half brother, who is closeted, and when he does start dating someone, he can't be open about it, and he can't just start suddenly showing up at games and cheering on the Mice louder than everyone else when he's openly frowned upon the fact that his father bought the team at all. Kim gets it easier, and she knows that, and she's thankful for it. (yes, Burzek is here, because it's me, but also because canon gave us them literally playing hockey with Mack and I was supposed to let the opportunity pass me by???)

I've just re-read YHBOTHL for the hundredth time and even now, several years later, I just cannot get enough. I've been a fan of PD since S1 but only really got into fandom around S6/7, but I distinctly remember this being the very first fanfic I'd ever read - during the pandemic, at a time when I think a lot of us used fanfic as some sort of escape from the reality of what was going on the world.
When I tell you that this fic healed my soul! It feels like a warm hug. Every single chapter is a masterpiece that I fall in love with more and more each time. The banter, the flirting, the smuttiness, the softness, the emotion, the little details describing the scene, the dialog, them. It doesn't stray from who they are as characters. The way your writing makes me feel everything they feel. It's all just perfect.
'Home isn't Chicago, or the district, or deep-dish pizza or the wind. Home is Jay' 😭 - This line absolutely melts me every damn time. It just cleanses the soul. And the fact that myself and the majority of the Upstead fandom lose their minds and obsess over this one line in particular and immediately know the context and where it's from just proves how good a writer you are.
It's such a beautiful story! It has the absolute perfect ending, & I'll forever regard it as one of the best PD/Upstead fanfics out there.
You're so talented! Thank you for sharing this absolute masterpiece with us. It really is something so special 🥰❤️
Hi!
I saw your anon message and it made me realize I hadn't checked tumblr in several days - so your message DID go through, I'm just bad about remembering to check tumblr lol.
Thank you so, so much for this. It was such a lovely message to read and I really needed this bit of warmth and support 🩷
I came into PD around that time (after 7 ended and during the extended hiatus) too, and writing that fic was exactly what I needed then - it was amazing leaping into the fandom right at that time.
Reading this really, really makes me miss those days (at least the fic aspect) and Upstead in general.

https://screenrant.com/chicago-pd-season-11-hailey-upton-exit-theories/ from that 7 exit theories in how many % will happen every theorie what do you think?
It's taken me a few days to answer this because I wanted to do it on my computer, but let's break it down:
Upton joins Halstead in Bolivia: I feel like this definitely will not happen. She has no ties to the military and has never even made a comment about possibly wanting to join either as a contractor or as a reservists.
Upton Gets Back Together With Halstead & The Couple Leaves Chicago Together: I think one is logical and a great option to what could happen. Two things need to happen in order for this to happen. First thing is something needs to get Jay's attention to come back to Chicago, and then something needs to happen to Hailey either at CPD or in Chicago that completely rocks her world. I could see them using something happening to Hailey as the catalyst for Jay to come home, and then together they decide to leave Chicago and all of the ghosts it holds for them.
Upton Is Offered A New Position In The CPD: This is also a logical option, and would make sense. If she simply transferred departments and stayed in Chicago, just in the background... It would make sense. I don't really see this one happening only because with all the characters that have left the franchise from PD they have either gone to the feds or died - I don't see Hailey being an exception here, particularly because they didn't do this with Jay.
Upton Leaves The CPD & Joins The FBI: Again, this is a theory that is rooted in some sense and logic. I don't see this one happening, only because this is what happened with Erin. Furthermore, they already sort of threw this storyline with Hailey and she chose PD over the FBI, so I don't think they would re-tell the storytelling... Even with Jay somewhat in this picture because it would mirror how Erin left, and I just.. Hailey deserves better than a rehashing of Erin's storyline.
Upton Quits The Intelligence Unit & Police Work Altogether: Strangely, this one sort of seems out of left field. Being a cop has more or less defined Hailey Upton for SO long and for SO many years... It's all she knows, except for the house she grew up in. In conjunction with what has happened to her this past year, I could see something happening that really shifts her foundation, and makes her reprioritize her life - and that means that she has to leave the CPD. Maybe she decides to become that lawyer and change the justice system from a different angle, or something else. This option is actually one that I have been thinking they will use for Hailey's exit since we heard the news. The good (and bad) thing about this option is that they can do it for Hailey by herself (if they don't bring Jay back) but they can also do it and somehow incorporate Jay into it too. So, it works well for both sides there.
Upton Moves Out Of Chicago After Divorcing Halstead: This one is self explanatory.... I just... No. I don't/won't entertain this one
Upton Dies: Sadly, this could be an option. This option kind of scares me because they haven't offed a character since Al, so it's been a minute. The shock value that this would cause is a network's dream in the sense of the viewers and numbers, but for the life of me, I don't see why doing this to a well loved, fan favorite character would bring. I don't see this one happening.
My guess is that we will get a mix of these two: Upton Quits The Intelligence Unit & Police Work Altogether with Upton Gets Back Together With Halstead & The Couple Leaves Chicago Together. I think more or less something is going to happen to Hailey - whether it is getting shot, something at the hands of Voight again, something happening to Jay, etc.... Something just really, really big that shatters her whole world and the foundation she's built her life on, that really causes her to evaluate her perspective and what she wants. From there, she'll leave the unit and move on with her life. (Hopefully with Jay!!!) And the good news with these options is that they can write it this way, with her ending up with Jay, and we don't necessarily have to have Jay on our screens to do it. Of course it would be much better if we see Jay and I sure hope we do - but it could be done both ways.
I don't see her taking another position within the CPD because they didn't do that with Jay and they haven't done that with any other characters - everyone else has left Chicago for the most part or died. I don't see her joining the feds because they have already used that storyline with her and it'd be too similar to Erin's departure, and I don't think they'd do that twice.
But at the end of all of this too, I really have no clue, and given what happened with Jay last year, I'm not scared to admit I am horrified at the thought of what they might do with her. This is also very contingent on how many episodes she will be given when they write her out. I am holding on with bated breath and a single shred of hope from JLS saying "trust the process."

Big Brothers' Reunion Goes Wrong
Jay and Will Halstead x Sister || Healstead Sister one shot
There is an episode in PD season 2 where Jay is in his kitchen, and Will's one night stand appears out of nowhere and she just greets him. It's kinda funny. I took that scene to write this, more or less.
I have always felt that in these CPD episodes Will seems to be a jerk, so I'm sorry if I wrote him with that same vibe (Don't get me wrong I really like Will).
I just wanted to write more about Becca becoming a theatre girl and I took the chance 🥺 Cherish this phase of Becca Healstead.
It was earlier than usual when Becca opened the fridge to drink some orange juice. She was wearing a sports top and joggers, also a thin black sweater, her hair picked up in a high ponytail. She started to prepare coffe for her brother, while she ate a slice of bread.
-"Oh! You woke up early". Jay said really surprised while entering the kitchen, still in the clothes he slept in.
-"Yeah. I'm trying to practice".
-"Practice what?" He said looking at her outfit.
-"My acting teacher gave me some exercises to improve my movements, they are really tough to do. I also want to keep working on my flexibility. I don't really have so much time during the afternoons, so I figured I could wake up earlier to do it".
-"Wow!" Jay said, raising his brows. -"You are really into it, aren't you?". He was genuinely happy for her.
-"Yes!" She said with excitement. -"All thanks to you, Jay Jay".
-"Hey! Now that you are into a sporty phase, maybe you can come with me to the gym, or we can go together for a walk. You can also show me your exercises, I don't know. A brother-sister thing, sounds like fun".
-"Sure, I'd love that!" Her exercises had nothing to do with that type of training, but she tought it was a sweet idea, also she was always up to spend time with her big brother.
-"What about the coffee, anyway? You can't drink it, still too young. It's prohibited".
-"I was doing it for you, dummy". Becca gave him a playful push as Jay laughed.
-"Sit down, silly". Jay grabbed a pan and some other kitchen utensils. -"Now, what do you want for breakfast?".
-"Scrambled eggs and bacon and toasted bread". They said at the same time, Jay imitating Becca's everyday answer.
-"Shut up! As if you knew how to cook something else".
-"Ok, kiddo. I need to tell you something. It's nothing bad, I'm just not sure if you are going to like it or not".
-"What is it? You are scaring me".
But their conversation got interrupted by the sound of a door opening from inside of the apartment. An unknown woman came out from one of the rooms half dressed, finishing putting on her clothes.
Becca's eyes went wide in surprise and she just put her head down not being sure of what to do. Jay instinctively walked to his sister's side. He kinda knew what was going on, but didn' know how to react with the little girl's presence.
-"Oh, good morning!" She said, -"You must be Jay, nice to meet you!".
-"Nice to meet you too". He said with a smirk and without even noticing he placed a hand on Becca's head so she wouldn't look up.
-"I'm so sorry. I didn't know your daughter was here. I should be going".
When she left, Jay took his hand off Becca, but she remained in the same position
-"O-K, that was weird. What's going on?"
Jay bit his lip before answering: -"Will is back to Chicago...".
Becca quickly raised her head with what looked like excitement, but Jay couldn't really interpret that reaction. He was a damn good detective, but most of the time it was hard to read his sister. In that exact moment, Will made his entrance. He was shirtless, puting on his pants.
-"And he's staying here...".
-"Pff, sorry about that!". He said laughing. When he was going to continue with his story, Jay gave him a sign to cut it off. He hadn't noticed their little sister's presence.
-"Oh! Becca? What are you doing here, girl?" He stroked her head not so carefully which made her pull a face. -"Shouldn't you be with dad?".
Jay was reclining on the table with his two arms outstretched, looking at his siblings reunited at his place.
-"Nice to see you too, Will". Once more, she was hard to read.
-"Why don't you go to get a shower? Get ready for school". Jay instructed. -"Breakfast will be ready when you come out again".
-"Why isn't she at her house? Shouldn't she be with dad?".
-"This is her house, Will...basically. She stays here during the weekends, that's granted. Sometimes on weekdays, but that's not usual".
-"Why?" Will asked strangely.
-"There are a lot of things you don't know. I'm glad you had fun yesterday, but as you can tell this can't happen anymore...well, at least not so often. I hadn't told you about Becca staying here from time to time, because there was no need. She called me last night and when I came back with her, it never crossed my mind that you had a hot chick in your room. It was late".
-"So...you are playing the dad role? Jay--".
-"Hey! We're not talking about this, you don't even have the right". -He stopped him. -"And put on some clothes, man. You are taking her to school today".
Thanks for reading. If you liked it, it would help my soul if you give it a like, comment or share 😌♡
