#rb in honour of his goal

Adding on to my tags in the prev rb kia/we is just so special to me becuz I can envision so clearly me growing alongside him as a person and it's so realistic and rooted in my current ambitions. Like for other f/os I selfship mostly for fun but for kia/we like. We can study topics of ecology culture and literature together like yah it's the poke/mon world and he wants to be a kahuna but that just translates irl into a heavily respected role with the power to honour the natural world, the culture and tradition As if that's not one of the most important things to me too. And Olivia said he has to travel the world to broaden his horizons if he wants to be a kahuna and for my s/i he also wants to travel and do conservation work! Like ok once again it's poke/mon but if it was irl I literally don't have a cause I'd die to dedicate myself more to than conservation of wildlife and so kia/we could literally travel the world with me and grow as people to help the causes we deem important to us LIKE IT'S SO. IT GOES DEEPER THAN casual selfshipping it makes me feel hopeful about my goals. And outside of ambitions, he'll encourage me to be more disciplined responsible you know which. It's hard to get out of my ways since it's like my personality but if I had the most patient boyfriend who little by little pushes me to keep up with him becuz we're in this together. I can achieve a lot..

okay here is the much anticipated english rb xi for miss eleanor my beloved (i will welcome any suggestions bc this was lowkey vry difficult lmaooo
GK: kyle walker - there was a game a few years ago where kyle walker went in goal for city tbh that was my main reasoning. also he’s fast and i can’t think of anyone else to put there
RB: KWP - do i even have to explain this one??? his development at right back mad how instrumental he is for southampton plus he’s cute and i think he plays the most traditional right back role here. plus i love him
RCB: reece james - very physically strong and mostly defensively capable, plus gareth loves him
LCB: luke ayling - he’s english and again he’s v defensively sound, also can provide aggression to defensive line - i don’t like him that much tho that’s why he’s on the left
LB: tripps - our fave long-standing english player that gets played in literally every position but his own ,,,,, in honour to euro 2021 he’s playing in lb bc southgate refused to play ben chilwell lol :/
RCM: taa my beloved, a more attacking role bc gareth seems to think he can’t defend, less pressure for him and he has the freedom to provide tons of assists to make gareth look silly xxx
DM: tyrick mitchell - young crystal palace rb, he’s fast and i think he’ll be a good link between defence to attack whilst also supporting the backline, he’s fast not afraid to put in a challenge and can also venture forward really well
LCM: james justin - idk much abt this guy but he has two first names and i think that’s funny,,,, defo more of an attacking rb which is why he’s in midfield
RW: livramento, again young but super good for southampton last season, very good attacking, creating and scoring goals
CF: tavernier,,,,, ok hear me out on this one - yes he plays for rangers but he’s english and also a rb - he’s so so good attacking wise he’s good a good aerial presence and he’s fast and is at the centre of so many of rangers attacks
LW: ben johnson - again young and still in the under 21s set up but he’s so so promising (also there was no way i was putting aaron wan bissaka in this )
ALEX OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!! THIS IS LITERALLY YET ANOTHER MAGNUM OPUS PIECE OF WORK BY YOU I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!!!! literally the greatest gift i have ever received in my inbox!!!!!!! alex new queen of right backs after this i swear down literally she deserves the crown!!!!
oh my god like all the reasoning makes so much sense and they logically fit so well in every position literally do NOT let gareth see this he will LITERALLY steal this word for word bar for bar reason for reason
FAVOURITES!!! include KWP keeping his RB role (though one day i would like to see him even try midfield because my dad suggested it once in 2017 and I've thought of it nonstop since), reece at RCB, tripps at LB we love a versatile old man, tyrick at DM and livramento at RW is literally so galaxy brained like wow

An All-Time Irish Liverpool XI via /r/LiverpoolFC
An All-Time Irish Liverpool XI
Howya lads. I'm a mod over at r/coybig (the subreddit for the Republic of Ireland national team) and during the quarantine, me and my Liverpool-mad Da have been chatting loads about football. One afternoon when we were bored we decided to come up with the best all-time XI of players who donned both the red shirt and the green. I thought some Irish Reds might get a kick out of me posting here, so without further ado, here it is!
GK - Caoimhin Kelleher
Young Kwee-veen is, to the best of my knowledge, the only GK from the ROI to have played for Liverpool. A young man with tremendous potential - just look at this close-range save vs MK Dons. Got a fair bit of stick for letting in 5 in the League Cup vs Arsenal, but to be fair to him, he made a decisive save in the penalty shootout. One for the future?
RB - Steve Finnan
A defender of the highest pedigree. Capable of mesmerising attacking football. Had a great eye for a pass, and a brilliant crosser of the ball. Not to mention he was incredible in the tackle.
CB - Mark Lawrenson
Although not born in the Republic of Ireland, Preston's Mark Lawrenson turned out 39 times for the Boys in Green, scoring 5 goals. Of course, he's best known for his 356 appearances as a Red, during which he struck up a formidable partnership with Alan Hansen that led to 5 league titles, 3 League Cups, the FA Cup and the European Cup in 1984. He was tremendous in the tackle, and was able to both repel and build from the back. Had an eye for goal too.
CB - Phil Babb
Perhaps best remembered for his ball-busting commitment to the cause, Phil was the lynchpin of Roy Evans' 3-5-2 formation, typically playing in the middle of the back three. He had a great eye for a pass and a crunching tackle on him.
LB - Steve Staunton
Ireland's first centurion had two spells at Liverpool throughout the 80's & 90's. Best known as a LB, 'Stan' had a keen eye for goal, once scoring a hat-trick vs Wigan. He was a thrilling attacker in his prime, with piercing runs and dangerous crosses galore. Honourable mention must go to his impressive moonlight as a makeshift goalie in the 1999 derby vs Everton.
RW- Steve Heighway
A bonafide Liverpool legend, Heighway won four league titles, two European Cups, two UEFA Cups as well as an FA Cup and League Cup over a decade at the club. A tremendous crosser of the ball, a mesmerising dribbler and a splendid finisher, he is widely considered as one of LFC's all-time greats.
CM - Ray Houghton
Although his most famous strikes were for Ireland, vs Italy and England, Ray Houghton also held high pedigree as a goalscoring midfielder with the Reds - just look at these finishes. He had a hell of a cross in him too.
CM - Ronnie Whelan
Possibly Liverpool's greatest ever Irishman. He scored some spectacular goals - just look at this screamer vs Man Utd. Originally nicknamed the 'Milk Cup Kid' due to scoring two goals in the final vs Spurs, he won six league titles at the heart of the Reds' midfield, eventually captaining the side for a spell. A smashing header of the ball, and a brilliant passer and tackler too.
LM - Michael Robinson
Perhaps an unorthodox choice given that he only spent one season at the club - but Robinson was a magnificent finisher, and starred in the European Cup final vs Roma.
ST - Robbie Keane
Yes, he only spent six months at the club, but you can't leave out a man who scored 68 (SIXTY-EIGHT) goals for Ireland. Just watch this goal vs Arsenal and tell me Rafa didn't make a mistake selling him.
ST - John Aldridge
Even though Aldo was only at the club for two seasons, he's remembered as one of the finest finishers in the history of the club - and for good reason. He scored 26 league goals as Liverpool marched to the title in 1987-88 and chipped in with some vital goals in the FA Cup too, such as this SF brace vs Forest. He also held the ROI's goalscoring record for a number of years, with 19 international goals.
Manager: John McKenna
Of course, Liverpool's first manager was an Irishman too. McKenna hailed from County Monaghan and led the Reds during their breakaway from Everton. He went on to serve as club chairman before becoming President of the Football League for nearly 20 years. At his funeral, his coffin was carried through the city by three Liverpool players and three Everton players.
Subs/Honourable mentions:
Jason McAteer
Jim Beglin
Mark Kennedy

Messi and Mbappe lead PSG to Champions League victory against Leipzig
Lionel Messi scored twice and Kylian Mbappe played a starring role but later missed a penalty as Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat RB Leipzig 3-2 in the Champions League on Tuesday (Oct 19).
Tumblr media
Mbappe had given PSG the lead at the Parc des Princes but a Leipzig side beaten 6-3 at Manchester City earlier in the competition did not crumble in the French capital.
Instead goals from Andre Silva and Nordi Mukiele had them in front, and at that point PSG looked as if they might pay the price for another occasionally disjointed display.\
However, they were rescued by Mbappe and Messi. The Argentinian was set up by the France star for the equaliser and then coolly chipped in a 74th-minute penalty awarded for a foul on Mbappe.
Mauricio Pochettino's team, who also saw Mbappe miss from the spot in injury time, are now top of Group A at the halfway stage, a point above City, who won 5-1 at Club Brugge earlier.
Leipzig, beaten by PSG in the semi-finals in 2020, are bottom without a point to their name.
For PSG, the win was achieved without Neymar, sidelined by an adductor muscle injury.
In any case, the world's most expensive player has not really been himself this season, his one goal so far coming from the penalty spot.
While Messi has been settling in to his new surroundings, Mbappe has been the main man for PSG.
Glitz and glamour
Those two were joined in the Paris attack by Julian Draxler, making a rare start with Angel di Maria suspended and Mauro Icardi missing for family reasons amid reports of relationship troubles with his wife Wanda Nara, who is also his agent and an Instagram celebrity.
Adding to the glitz and glamour of the Parc des Princes was Ronaldinho, the former PSG player and later a team-mate of Messi's at Barcelona. The Brazilian embraced Messi during the warm-up before performing a lap of honour.
Ronaldinho, for a brief period arguably the best player in the world, could not fail to have been impressed by Mbappe, who looked in the mood as he gave PSG the lead nine minutes in.
As Silva appealed in vain for a free-kick on the edge of the Paris box, the home side broke quickly and Draxler released Mbappe just inside the opposition half.
The France striker sped towards goal before unleashing a low shot past Peter Gulacsi for his sixth of the season, his first in the Champions League.
Yet Leipzig, who have been struggling for consistency in the Bundesliga under new coach Jesse Marsch, were a threat.
Silva hit the post with a shot on the turn, and moments later the German side were level in the 28th minute, Angelino with a low ball across goal for Portugal international Silva to turn it in.
Angelino was again the provider when Leipzig took the lead, crossing for French international Mukiele to stab the ball past Keylor Navas in the 57th minute.
PSG were struggling. They still don't look quite like the fully-rounded team that can dominate Europe, but their superstar individuals stepped forward when it mattered.
Mbappe set up Messi to equalise midway through the second half, the Argentine following in to make sure when his initial effort hit the post.
That was his second PSG goal following his stunning effort in the win over City last month.
He wasn't finished there, cheekily beating Gulacsi from the spot for the winner after the brilliant Mbappe had been fouled by Mohamed Simakan.
The Argentine might even have had a hat-trick when another penalty was awarded in stoppage time for a foul on Achaf Hakimi after a VAR review.
However this time Mbappe stepped up and blazed the kick over the bar.

Bundesliga predictions: Dortmund or Bayern? Alan McInally on Der Klassiker and other Super 6 games | Football News
Who will walk away from Der Klassiker victorious?
Der Klassiker takes place on Tuesday, with four points separating Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Who is Alan McInally backing in the Bundesliga’s main event?
A win for Bayern Munich will take them seven points clear of their opponents on Tuesday, while a win for the home side will cut the gap to just one point, with only six games remaining. Who is Alan McInally backing for success, not only in this blockbuster, but the other Super 6 Bundesliga matches across the week?
Follow live coverage of Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich on skysports.com and the Sky Sports App on Tuesday; Kick-off at 5.30pm
Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Bayern Munich (17/1 with Sky Bet)
Borussia Dortmund, with a 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg, looked pretty good. I didn’t think Wolfsburg gave them too many problems, but the same could be said about Frankfurt, who scored twice in quick succession to make it 3-2 against Bayern. Dortmund have started with 4-0 and 2-0 wins, while Bayern hit Frankfurt for five, so there is a not a lot between them.
Could you predict six correct scorelines to win £50,000? Play Super 6 for free
The away teams are coping much better in this scenario than the home teams – we saw that at the weekend. Bayer Leverkusen won at Borussia Monchengladbach, Dortmund won at Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen registered a shock victory at Freiburg, Mainz won at Leipzig and Augsburg thumped Schalke on their home turf. It does not enhance the home side at all without the fans and so that could be an advantage for Bayern – there will not be 80,000 packed inside the Signal Iduna Park.
It is either going to finish 3-3 or the odd goal will make the difference. Bayern will extend the lead to seven points with what I am predicting. It will be a great game to watch and there are some real players to watch. If Dortmund did turn them over, you could see how, with the quality of players they have. Raphael Guerreiro, Erling Haaland and Julian Brandt have all been great. Even Jadon Sancho could make his first start since the break.
But I will side with Bayern. There is more pressure on Dortmund to win here. Even if they do, they go a point behind. I think both teams have real quality right across the park, but the experienced quality lies with Bayern and I think that may make the difference.
Key Battle
I think it has to be Alphonso Davies, who will definitely be up against Achraf Hakimi and potentially even Jadon Sancho down his flank. The pace between those three is phenomenal so it will be a good one to keep your eye on. Erling Haaland will be a real problem for Bayern’s defence; Jerome Boateng and David Alaba played at the back against Frankfurt.
Alphonso Davies scored Bayern Munich’s fourth goal against Frankfurt. He will be key against Dortmund
Benjamin Pavard likes to get forward too down the right for Bayern, but then there may be Julian Brandt or Thorgan Hazard for him to contend with down their left, so it will be interesting. In the outside areas, to get the ball into the box will be pivotal and a real key area. Bayern will keep the ball and probably have more possession Dortmund will force them to play and try to hit on the counter. Bayern will have their work cut out, and Haaland going into every game thinking he will score won’t help. He may well do that.
Super 6: Der Klassiker!
Over 30 per cent of Super 6 players are siding with Alan Mcinally’s prediction of Dortmund 1-2 Bayern, leaving the away side with one hand firmly on the Bundesliga title. Who will you side with, as £50k is there for the taking. Play here for free.
Follow live coverage of Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich on skysports.com and the Sky Sports App on Tuesday; Kick-off at 5.30pm
Werder Bremen 0-2 Borussia Monchengladbach (10/1 with Sky Bet)
It was an unbelievable result for Werder Bremen at Freiburg, which will have given them a boatload of confidence. They will have to play even better than that here. Gladbach are a good team and I was disappointed by their performance against a team who are on their way up in the shape of Bayer Leverkusen.
Super 6: Gladbach to bounce back?
Despite a disappointing result at home to Leverkusen, 63 per cent of Super 6 entrants are siding with Borussia Monchengladbach, while 27 per cent are backing a 2-1 away win. Play here for free.
Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 Wolfsburg (12/1 with Sky Bet)
Bayer Leverkusen were brilliant against Gladbach. Kai Havertz is truly the man who is up and coming in German football. He goes and scores two against third place in the Bundesliga, and was class again. I expected it to be more difficult against Gladbach, considering they have got one of the best defences in the league. The whole team were class. Wolfsburg did not play too badly at the weekend, but they did not look like they were going to trouble Dortmund.
Kai Havertz celebrates his first against Borussia Monchengladbach
Super 6: Another statement from Bayer?
A hefty 87 per cent of Super 6 competitors are hoping for another Bayer Leverkusen win, with 35 per cent of those predicting a 2-0 win. Could Kai Havertz be on the scoresheet once more? Play Super 6 for free here.
RB Leipzig 2-1 Hertha Berlin (8/1 with Sky Bet)
Apart from the big one, this is by far the game I am most looking forward to. Both teams are flying with goals. Bruno Labbadia has got off to a great start, and I like his attacking style of football. A 3-0 away win at Hoffenheim was followed up with a 4-0 win in the derby against Union Berlin. They seem to go through spells where they can score a few in a matter of minutes. This will be a much tougher game for Leipzig than it was against Mainz. Timo Werner has scored two hat-tricks against Mainz this campaign, and could add to his tally again here.
Timo Werner impressed against Mainz and faces Hertha Berlin next
Super 6: End of the road for Hertha?
With seven goals and zero conceded from their last two, an away trip to RB Leipzig will be a different proposition. Only five per cent are giving Hertha Berlin a chance for the three points in this one. Will you too go against the grain, with £50k up for grabs? Play for free.
Hoffenheim 1-1 Cologne (13/2 with Sky Bet)
Hoffenheim have been so bad. A draw at Paderborn is simply not good enough. Looking at the table, they are in ninth, so despite their results, they are still in a decent position. Cologne squandered a lead and then managed to salvage a point against Fortuna Dusseldorf, by scoring two goals in around three minutes. This looks like it could be too close to call.
Super 6: Honours even?
With both sides taking a point from their last game, it is fitting that 27 per cent of Super 6 players are backing a 1-1 draw in this clash. Could one of these teams walk away with it? Have your say to land £50k here.
Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-0 Schalke (12/1 with Sky Bet)
I like what Uwe Rosler has done, but he will have been seething to have lost the lead like they did against Cologne. They did not manage to beat Paderborn either, but there is no way I can give Schalke another chance. David Wagner will want a response badly, but I cannot see them getting enough chances against Dusseldorf. Schalke will continue to frustrate themselves and their fans.
Super 6: Where do you play your cards here?
Staggeringly, just three per cent lies between all three predictions in this one. A healthy 32 per cent are backing Schalke, with 33 per cent backing Fortuna Dusseldorf and 35 per cent on the draw. Play for free here.
Super 6: Dortmund to keep heat on Bayern?
Super 6 is back. Do not miss your chance to land the £50,000 jackpot. Play for free, entries by 2:30pm.

We take a daily look at all the latest big Birmingham City transfer news and rumours. We also take a quick glance at the big headlines from the rest of the Championship. Birmingham City have been linked with a shock move for Stoke City’s Saido Berahino. The Potters forward, who came through the ranks at West Midlands neighbours West Bromwich Albion , is out of favour at the Bet365 Stadium after a highly public off-field issues. Costing Stoke £12m when they brought him from Albion in January 2017, Berahino has scored just three league goals in two-and-a-half years and they’re ready to cut their losses and moving him on. READ MORE The 25-year-old has returned from Egypt after representing his native Burundi in their first ever African Nations Cup campaign. According to the Sun , Blues will look to offer him a Wast Hills trial in pre-season to permit him the chance to earn a contract at St Andrew’s. Blues boss Pep Clotet is in the market for a new striker after losing Che Adams to Southampton. However, BirminghamLive has been told a move for the striker is unlikely. KEEPING KALVIN Blues’ Championship rivals Leeds United have opened contract talks with Kalvin Phillips in a bid to keep the midfielder amid interest from Aston Villa. Villa have been chasing Phillips this summer and still retain an interest as they mould Dean Smith’s squad ahead of the Premier League season. They have tested the water with an offer of around £14m but so far have been met with a determination from Leeds to hold onto the fan favourite. Che Adams and Kalvin Phillips battle at St Andrew’s (Image: TIM EASTHOPE/BIRMINGHAM MAIL) The Elland Road club are said to have placed an asking price of around double that fee on Phillips, who made 44 appearances for the beaten Championship play-off semi-finalists last season. Now, in an attempt to fight off transfer interest, talks have been opened with the academy graduate over a new deal according to Leeds writer Phil Hay. The deal on the table would place Phillips among the club’s top earners with his current contract set to expire in 2021. READ MORE WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BLUES? NEAL FEE The Standard are reporting Sheffield United will have to pay more than the £15m Southampton paid Blues for Che Adams. The French striker is reportedly interesting Chris Wilder after an outstanding campaign in the Championship which saw him score 28 goals. Maupay’s agent has been to Sevilla with La Liga outfit claimed to be interested but the Blades are also in the running. Wilder has already broken the Bramall Lane club’s transfer record once this week bringing in Luke Freeman from QPR. Neal Maupay of Brentford The undisclosed deal eclipsed the £4m United paid for John Egan last summer from Brentford. Brentford are believed to be demanding well over £15m for the forward signed from St Etienne for £1.7m in July 2017, which they say has cooled rival interest from Aston Villa. Maupay has previously made overtures towards a reunion with his ex-Bees manager – and current Villa boss – Dean Smith saying last season. “I have a really, really good relationship with Dean. So obviously if one day he calls me and says ‘Neal, I need you in my team’ I would consider it….Obviously, I really liked working for him, so if one day he wants to bring me to Villa or wherever I would listen to him because he has done a lot of good things for me.” READ MORE BAGGIES MOVE Slaven Bilic has made his first signing as head coach of West Brom , after securing the transfer of Filip Krovinovic from Portuguese outfit Benfica. Midfielder Krovinovic, 23, has agreed a one-year loan deal at The Hawthorns and become compatriot Bilic’s first capture since replacing Darren Moore last month. The Croatian moved to Benfica from Rio Ave in 2017, but has struggled to find regular football at the Estadio da Luz; he only made a handful of appearances last term, albeit some of them in the Europa League, and manager Bruno Lage has agreed for Albion to borrow him for the forthcoming Championship campaign. Albion have sold Craig Dawson to Watford this summer, but besides the number of senior players who were released at the end of their contract – including James Morrison and Gareth Barry – business has been low key thus far. Bilic and technical director Luke Dowling are working on a number of targets; the Baggies have recently been linked with winger Opa Nguette, Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou and Chelsea midfielder Trevoh Chalobah. READ MORE PALM-ED OFF Kasey Palmer has travelled with the rest of the Chelsea first-team squad to Dublin, casting doubt over any potential return to Bristol City. Bristol Live understands the 22-year-old is part of the Blues’ touring party for Frank Lampard to run the rule over following his appointment at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. The Mirror reported on Wednesday night that Palmer is one of a number of young players Lampard is considering keeping hold of for the Premier League season due to the transfer embargo the Blues are under. It is believed that has come from sources close to the player, who made 17 appearances on loan for City last season, and there is no definite confirmation at this stage that he won’t be leaving Chelsea on loan or a permanent deal. However, the fact that Lampard wants to take a closer look at the attacking midfielder delays any potential for a loan return to Ashton Gate, should Lee Johnson be interested in such a move. Steve Cotterill was interested in bringing Palmer to St Andrew’s in January 2018. READ MORE ARNIE WINDFALL Stoke City are expected to receive about £500,000 from a sell-on clause as West Ham United prepare to get shot of Marko Arnautovic, say the Sentinel . Arnautovic is due to return for pre-season training on Monday in Switzerland, ironically where he submitted his transfer request to leave Stoke just two years ago. Leander Dendoncker of Wolverhampton Wanderers is challenged by Marko Arnautovic Arnautovic is close to a move to Chinese side Shanghai SIPG for £22.4m and the 30-year-old told the Hammers he wanted to quit London Stadium earlier this week when he learned of renewed interest from China. West Ham’s initial reaction was to tell the Austria international, who signed a new deal five months ago, to honour his contract. But an increased bid has been received which is now likely to be accepted. Elliott became the youngest ever Premier League player – aged 16 years and 30 days – in May but he has failed to agree a new contract and Fulham are powerless to prevent him leaving. That has alerted some of Europe’s biggest clubs with Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid and RB Leipzig all claimed to be interested. Liverpool icon believes player who Klopp's a big admirer of should move to Man Utd over Anfield
In his column for Sky Germany, Liverpool icon Didi Hamaan has warned Timo Werner against joining his former club, instead insisting he’d be better off signing for Manchester United or Chelsea.
What’s the word?
Earlier this week, The Independent described Jurgen Klopp as a big admirer of the Germany international, while journalist Nico Schira has even claimed Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign him.
Werner has enjoyed fine form this season, scoring 20 goals and bagging six assists in the Bundesliga prior to this weekend, and with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah set to be involved in AFCON next season, he’s certainly the calibre of forward who could help the Reds fill that void.
However, Hamaan has warned Werner against moving to Anfield, insisting he’d be better off joining Premier League rivals Manchester United or Chelsea.
What did he say?
In his column for Sky Germany, he said: “I trust him to play in a very big team soon. It is of course an honour for him to be linked to Liverpool.
“The question is: does he match Liverpool? For me he is strongest when he comes through the middle and can use his greatest weapon: his speed.
“With [Roberto] Firmino, Liverpool have a striker who is always playable and connects a lot with his team-mates.
“If Werner went to Liverpool, I would rather see him outside, but there are two absolute grenades in the team with [Sadio] Mane and [Mohamed] Salah. If none of the three strikers get injured or move, he won’t play and I don’t think that’s what he wants.
“Liverpool is the absolute benchmark, but in my view he would be better suited to Manchester United or Chelsea.”
Who is that?! Nobody has been able to name the teams all of these obscure managers were once in charge of…
Forgotten Factor
Hamaan certainly makes a fair point about game-time. Between them, Salah, Mane and Roberto Firmino haven’t been involved in just six Premier League games this season, while the latter has featured in all 26 so far.
But for players of his elite quality, it shouldn’t be all about game-time – otherwise Werner may as well stay at RB Leipzig, where he’s clearly a key player and will be in the starting XI pretty much every time.
Liverpool are reigning European champions and barring a complete catastrophe will end up winning this season’s Premier League title as well – the simple fact is that they’re operating at a different level to Chelsea and United, who would both likely view mere Champions League qualification as a really successful season.
Werner should be embracing the challenge of matching the standards Liverpool have set under Jurgen Klopp, even if he has to fight for a place in the starting XI with arguably the best front three in the world. Muscling his way in would be an achievement in itself.
Of course, if Werner just wants headlines then he may as well join United or Chelsea where he’ll likely be treated like a superstar. But if he really wants to prove himself against the very best, then he should want to fight Salah, Mane and Firmino for the shirt.

Alaves v Athletic Bilbao Match Preview – 23rd February Sunday
Alaves v Athletic Bilbao – Mendizorrotza Stadium at 13:00 GMT live at La Liga TV
Alaves’ poor away record again came back to haunt El Glorioso last weekend as the Basque boys were beaten 1-0 at relegation-haunted Mallorca. Head coach Asier Garitano was frustrated by his team’s performance after starting the fixture on the front foot before slowly losing their grip on proceedings.
Defeat was Alaves’ eighth on their travels this term so Garitano and co will be keen to return to their Mendizorrotza base for Sunday’s regional derby against out-of-form Athletic Bilbao. The hosts have W5-D4-L3 in front of their home supporters this season with all three losses arriving here against top-six teams.
El Glorioso have proven stubborn opposition in their Basque backyard too. Real Madrid, Sevilla and Villarreal escaped with victories by the narrowest of margins and Alaves’ W5-D3-L0 return against bottom-half dwellers suggests they should have the capability of outperforming their bulbous odds against Athletic.
Alaves underrated?
Alaves have been chalked up as almost 2/1 outsiders for Sunday’s showdown with punters able to support the Mendizorrotza men at 1.70 with a +0.25 Asian Handicap hurdle start, a selection that pays a half-stakes profit should the hosts secure a share of the spoils, and a full win should El Glorioso take top honours.
Garitano’s group have conceded just 0.75 goals per-game on home soil in 2019/20 and are rated only slightly behind Athletic when viewing La Liga’s ratings for Expected Goals (xG) from open play. Chuck in home advantage, plus Athletic’s poor recent run and away day blues, and there’s value in Alaves.
The visitors might be on the cusp of qualifying for the Copa del Rey final but Les Leones have toiled in league action since early December. The Bilbao club are winless in nine La Liga outings (W0-D4-L5), failing to score in four and only once notching more than a solitary strike in their worrying recent lean spell.
Athletic have racked up a paltry average of only 0.75 goals per-game on their travels, winning just once in 12 away days this season (W1-D7-L4). Gaizka Garitano’s group are generating the fewest open play chances according to xG in Spain’s top-flight and that suggests Les Leones are overvalued for this fixture.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation:  Alaves +0.25 at 1.700

CELTIC will have shipped out the remarkable total of TWELVE players who were involved in last season’s historic treble treble – if Kieran Tierney and Scott Sinclair quit the champions before tonight’s English transfer deadline at 5pm.
The 22-year-old Scotland international left-back is about to bring a halt to the £25million saga with Arsenal by agreeing a four-year contract with the London outfit.
Sinclair, who has scored 62 goals for the club since his £4.5million switch from Aston Villa in August 2016, was left out of Neil Lennon’s 18-man squad for the 1-1 draw against Cluj in the Champions League qualifier in Romania last night.
That kicked off speculation he was about to return to England and newly-promoted Sheffield United and Championship outfit Preston have been linked with the 30-year-old forward along with Middlesbrough and Stoke City in recent weeks.
Moussa Dembele, of course, was the first to move after only six appearances – in which he scored three goals – when he was lured back to France with Lyon paying a record £19.8million for the powerful hitman – a deal which will be eclipsed today if there are no late snags in Tierney’s departure.
Since Odsonne Edouard chipped the Scottish Cup winner beyond Hearts keeper Bobby Zlamal on May 25 to seal the unprecedented nine domestic honours in a magical three-year spell there has been an exodus of talent through the Parkhead exit.
Dedryck Boyata didn’t figure at Hampden as the Belgian World Cup centre-back had made it clear in January he had no intention of remaining at the club and he duly signed for Bundesliga mid-table outfit Hertha Berlin at the end of his contract.
Filip Benkovic (Leicester City), Jeremy Toljan (Borussia Dortmund), Timothy Weah (Paris Saint-Germain) and Oliver Burke (West Brom) all returned to their parent clubs.
Swedish international right-back Mikael Lustig was not satisfied  with the offer of a one-year extension and left to join Belgian outfit Gent.
Defenders Cristian Gamboa and Emilio Izaguiree departed the scene at the end of their contracts, too, and veteran Dutch keeper Dorus De Vries, who was on the substitutes’ bench as back-up to Scott Bain in the run-in to the unprecedented campaign, retired from playing last month and will now concentrate on coaching.
Tierney and Sinclair could take that tally to 12 and that does NOT include midfielder Scott Allan who agreed a pre-contract with Hibs in January and did not feature in the first team at all.
Lennon also scrapped the contracts of two of predecessor Brendan Rodgers’ recruits when Marvin Compper, the £1.2million purchase from RB Leipszig who did not even complete 90 minutes in the top side, and midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu, signed as a free agent, were told they did not have a future at Parkhead.
It’s been a whirlwind changeover at Celtic – and there is still business to be done.

Here’s our Premier League Team of the week for matchday 26
If there was one fixture to pick out from this Premier League gameweek, it would’ve had to be the encounter between Chelsea and Manchester City. While many people expected a close game, City were able to put Chelsea to the sword, thanks to yet another Sergio Aguero hat-trick.
What this 6-0 defeat meant is that both Arsenal and Manchester United have leapfrogged the Blues, who are currently 6th. Elsewhere, Cardiff got another victory when they beat Southampton away from home. United and Liverpool both won comfortably while Arsenal beat Huddersfield 2-1.
Before we get to see the team of the week, let’s look at some honourable mentions:
Lukasz Fabianski (West Ham United)
Heung-Min Son (Tottenham)
Anthony Martial (Manchester United)
Ashley Barnes (Burnley)
Here’s the best XI of gameweek 26
GK – Tom Heaton
Burnley have been in fine form over the last few weeks and that is heavily down to Heaton’s showing in goal. He single-handedly denied Brighton the win, who had more than one chance to score.
RB – Daryl Janmaat
The Dutchman started Watford’s impressive 1-0 win against Everton and played a crucial role to maintain their narrow lead until the end of the game.
RCB – Sol Bamba
The Cardiff City man was brilliant for the Bluebirds in their impressive 2-1 victory over Southampton and deserves a place in this side.
LCB – Virgil Van Dijk
Another spectacular performance from the Liverpool leader as he commanded his team to a comfortable 3-0 victory against an upbeat Bournemouth side.
LB – Oleksandr Zinchenko
The youngster absolutely tore the Chelsea defence apart. His performance was inspiring and will tempt Guardiola to give him more game time.
RM – Mohamed Salah
Another goal and another commanding performance from the Egyptian magician who had once and for all cleared all doubts about whether he was a one-season wonder.
RCM – Paul Pogba
The Frenchman has been a man reborn under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He displayed his immense quality again as he scored a brace in the win against Fulham.
LCM – Christian Eriksen
The Danish wizard pulled out another magical showing out of his hat. He scored a very good goal and assisted Davinson Sanchez with a brilliant pass as well.
LM – Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling picked the perfect opportunity to showcase his full potential. He tore a haphazard Blues defence to shreds and got himself a brace as well.
RF – Chris Wood
Burnley’s unbeaten run in 2019 continued, thanks to two brilliant goals from central-striker Chris Wood as they destroyed Chris Hughton’s Brighton side by a 3-1 scoreline.
Read More: Here are the winners and losers from Premier League gameweek 25 including Man City and Chelsea stars
LF – Sergio Aguero
He broke another record as he equalled the great Alan Shearer for the number of hat-tricks in the Premier League. He absolutely dismantled Chelsea and is now level with Salah on top of the scorers’ charts.

Bundesliga Betting: Bosz to make an exciting return
(New post on FreeBetAlerts.com) - https://freebetalerts.com/2019/01/18/bundesliga-betting-bosz-to-make-an-exciting-return/ #Football, #Freebets, #Tips
Bundesliga Betting: Bosz to make an exciting return Please share.
The Bundesliga is back after the winter break, and after making a profit in the first half of the campaign, . has three more selections for us.
Bosz debut should be livelyBayer Leverkusen v Borussia MonchengladbachSaturday 19 January 14:30Live on Betfair Live VideoThe dismissal of Bayer Leverkusen coach Heiko Herrlich before the winter break was no big surprise, but his replacement by former Borussia Dortmund and Ajax boss Peter Bosz has raised a few eyebrows. Bosz made an extraordinarily good start to his spell at Dortmund (he took 19 points from the first seven games), but a remarkable collapse saw the Dutchman dismissed in December 2017. His stubborn insistence on a high defensive line cost him dearly, and when the team’s form collapsed, he seemed powerless to change things.Bosz takes over an incredibly talented group of players that has totally failed to find consistency this season. Jamaican winger Leon Bailey is a classic example of that underachievement, but he feels Bosz’s influence and a move across to his favoured right flank could kickstart his campaign. Certainly Bosz is capable of getting teams to score goals, and with the likes of Kai Havertz, Julian Brandt, Karim Bellarabi and Kevin Volland at his disposal, life at the BayArena shouldn’t be dull.Borussia Monchengladbach have had a much more successful season so far, and they begin the Ruckrunde in third spot. Alassane Plea and Thorgan Hazard have been exceptional in attack, but a jaw injury to Germany centre-back Matthias Ginter has proven to be a damaging blow. In December, BMG lost at RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, probably extinguishing any faint hopes of mounting a shock title bid.I’m tempted to lay Bayer at [2.04], but there’s a possibility that Leverkusen could enjoy the “new manager bounce” and they finished 2018 in decent form. Instead I’ll go for Over 3.5 Goals at [2.34] – three of the last six Rhineland derbies between the teams in league and cup have featured at least four goals, including Leverkusen’s 5-0 win at Gladbach earlier this season.Eagles to enjoy their opening flightEintracht Frankfurt v FreiburgSaturday January 19, 14:30Live on Betfair Live Video2018 was quite a year for the Eagles of Eintracht Frankfurt. Not only did they win the DFB Cup, their first major honour for 30 years, but they also managed an extraordinary feat in Europe. SGE became the first German side to win all six group games in the Europa League, as they finished well ahead of both Lazio and Marseille. In recent seasons, Frankfurt have started superbly but then lost momentum after the winter break, and avoiding such a slump is the challenge that now faces coach Adi Hutter. The terrific trio of Sebastien Haller, Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic looked sharp during the mid-season jaunt in Florida, and after scoring 26 of Frankfurt’s 34 Bundesliga goals between them, they’ll be expected to deliver in the final 17 Bundesliga matches of the campaign.Frankfurt’s first win under Hutter was at Freiburg on Matchday One, and I believe they’ll pick up another victory against the team from the Black Forest this weekend. Freiburg have once again worked miracles by staying well clear of the bottom three, but their away record is a cause for concern. They have lost three of their last six away games in the top flight, and they’ve only won three of their last 28 Bundesliga road matches.Frankfurt had a bit of a wobble before Christmas, but key players like sweeper Makoto Hasebe have returned, and I’ll back the hosts to win comfortably.Hoffenheim v Bayern MunichFriday January 18, 19:30Live on BT Sport 1 and Betfair Live VideoIf Bayern are going to win the Bundesliga title for the seventh season running, they are going to have to do it the hard way. The Bavarians are six points behind the leaders Dortmund, but they did at least finish 2018 in fine style with a run of three straight league victories against Hannover, RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt. A bit of the swagger has returned to Bayern’s play, and coach Niko Kovac is on a slightly surer footing than he was a couple of months ago. That said, Bayern face a really tough test to kick off the year. They lost at Hoffenheim last season as Carlo Ancelotti’s reign at Bayern began to wind down, and this is a Hoffe side that has lost just six of its last 55 Bundesliga games at the Rhein-Neckar Arena. Borussia Dortmund came close to defeat there this term, and Manchester City were pushed all the way in the Champions League before a late error gave them all three points.Hoffenheim have lost a slew of key players over the past few transfer windows, many of them to Bayern, but the real star is coach Julian Nagelsmann. The 31-year-old is nothing short of a football genius, and his loss will be keenly felt when he joins Leipzig in the summer. He will have something up his sleeve for Bayern, just as he did last season.Although Bayern have been boosted by the signing of Canadian starlet Alphonso Davies, they are without Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery against a Hoffenheim team that has consistently given them tough games, especially in Sinsheim. At [1.54], Bayern just seem a bit too short to me.

Transfer Talk Real Madrid to smash world transfer record for Neymar
The transfer window is open, and Transfer Talk has the latest rumours making the rounds. Follow live with our daily blog throughout the summer.
TOP STORY: Real Madrid to break bank for Neymar
The Sun claims to have a source close to Real Madrid that says Florentino Perez is willing to pay £307 million to bring Neymar to the Bernabeu this summer before a £263m release clause kicks in with PSG as soon as the window closes at the start of September.
The report claims that "Real are unwilling to wait until January for their Galactico" and that the "free-spending suitors would break the current transfer record by £109m to get him before the new season begins."
PSG reportedly put the Sept. 1 release clause in place to prevent Neymar leaving before 2019, but the rumour mill continues to swirl around the Brazilian's future after returning from injury with the whispers surrounding a move to Madrid refusing to go away.
LIVE BLOG
14:56 BST: Patrick Kluivert learned that leaving Ajax early in his career wasn't that simple and he hopes his son Justin won't make the same mistake.
Kluivert said he has advised Justin to stay with the Dutch club for another year even though the winger closes in on a reported €18m (£15.8m) move to Roma.
"If he's got the feeling to leave then he's got to do that, but he needs to know what things are coming on his way," Kluivert said.
14:42 BST: The Nabil Fekir saga has drawn on long enough for many people -- and the wife of Liverpool owner John Henry seems to be among them.
Linda Pezzuti Henry, the managing director of the Boston Globe, had a bit of a laugh with Liverpool fans on Twitter when a user replied to a post about an honour for Globe reporters:
Same.
— Linda Pizzuti Henry (@Linda_Pizzuti) June 9, 2018
Of course, this means the Liverpool communications team will really have to step up with their announcement should it ever arrive.
14:18 BST: Developing the Top Story, Marca is reporting that Neymar met with a Madrid representative in Liverpool while Brazil were training there last week.
According to the newspaper, Neymar reiterated that he is interested in joining the club to the official, who was in the city to make progress on the signing of Santos forward Rodrygo.
13:44 BST: Wayne Rooney's move to D.C. United has taken another step forward as the Everton midfielder and former England captain has applied for his United States visa.
According to The Sun, Rooney flew to Belfast on Friday to visit the U.S. Consulate and fill out paperwork that would allow him to complete the transfer.
Sources told ESPN FC on Friday that Rooney remains open regarding his future and still hasn't ruled out a return to Everton despite meeting with the United club hierarchy last month.
13:18 BST: Jack Wilshere may not just be leaving Arsenal this summer but possibly England altogether.
That's according to Tuttomercatoweb, who report that Wilshere will be offered a salary of €4.5m a season by the Serie A champions.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants to keep the 26-year-old with the club, but Wilshere could potentially seek a fresh start abroad.

13:04 BST: West Bromwich Albion have made a £7m bid for Bristol City forward Bobby Reid, according to Sky Sports.
Reid, 25, scored 19 goals in 44 appearances this past season, and City have the option of exercising a third year on the two-year contract he signed after the 2015-16 season.
He may not be the only City player heading to West Brom, as the Bristol Post reports they are in on defender Aden Flint after Jonny Evans finalised a move to Leicester City on Friday.
12:48 BST: Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has been linked to a number of clubs in recent months and now Robert Pires hopes the Belgium international will make the move to Arsenal.
Fellaini is out of contract this summer and with Arsenal's recruitment budget limited, a move to north London would make sense, according to Pires.
"If he wants to join Arsenal, I think it would be good news," Pires, the former Arsenal defender, told Sky Sports. "He needs a new start and I think, with his quality, I think he can help Unai Emery and he can help the Arsenal players in the squad."
12:37 BST: Could Everton be looking to add competition for Jordan Pickford this summer?
Finding someone capable of challenging the expected England No. 1 may be difficult, but that's what new manager Marco Silva intends to do, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Silva said he wants two players competing for every starting place, and with Joel Robles set to leave as he is out of contract this summer, 35-year-old Maarten Stekelenburg is currently Pickford's only challenger at the club.
12:28 BST: Liverpool's move for Lyon captain and France international Nabil Fekir has stalled, a source has told ESPN FC Liverpool correspondent Glenn Price.
Liverpool were hopeful that they would be in a position to announce the completed transfer on Friday after positive discussions with Lyon, and an image of Fekir's introductory interview with Liverpool's TV channel was leaked on social media.
But, amid reports of Liverpool having reservations about the 24-year-old potentially possessing an underlying knee issue, a source said the club are not expected to confirm any incoming transfers for the time being.
11:58 BST: There are plenty of reports in Spain on Saturday that Barcelona have decided to sign Clement Lenglet. Mundo Deportivo lead with it on their front page and say the 22-year-old will come in as back-up to Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti, with Thomas Vermaelen and Yerry Mina's places in doubt.
ESPN FC reported on Thursday that Sevilla defender Lenglet will take a decision regarding his future by the end of the month.

11:32 BST: Tottenham are weighing up a move for Aston Villa star Jack Grealish, sources close to the Premier League club have told ESPN FC.
Leicester City are also keeping tabs on Grealish's situation, but Tottenham are the front runners, with Pochettino viewing the 22-year-old as the type of player he can help develop into a better player while also strengthening the core of young English talents at the club.
11:10 BST: In case you missed this one on Friday, Manchester United and Tottenham are around £20 million apart in their valuations of Toby Alderweireld, sources have told ESPN FC.
United have been quick to move in the transfer market this summer, already snapping up Fred and Diogo Dalot.
Sources have told ESPN FC that United are willing to pay around £50m for Alderweireld, but negotiations have hit a sticking point with Tottenham valuing the 29-year-old at closer to £70m.
10:29 BST: When Mario Gotze left Bayern Munich to rejoin Borussia Dortmund in 2016 there was plenty of speculation that he could move to the Premier League. Now, he has revealed how close a move to Liverpool was.
"I decided to leave Bayern and Jurgen Klopp was interested in getting me to Liverpool. And I was also interested in working with him again," he told DAZN as part of a four-part documentary about his career so far.
" still exists. He is a world-class coach and that's why it's always an option. I decided to join Borussia Dortmund, but it was not a decision against Liverpool or Jurgen Klopp."
10:05 BST: While there is still the chance that these players may be offered a new deal, here are 10 players who are available on a free transfer, including Marouane Fellaini, Jack Wilshere and Emre Can.
09:30 BST: In Italy, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Inter Milan are set to offer Mauro Icardi a bumper pay-rise so they can keep him at the club.
Under the terms of the new deal the striker will get €6.3m basic annually and the potential to earn up to €8m with bonuses.

09:00 BST: Danny Murphy has told ESPN FC that Liverpool's fast start to the transfer window will help Jurgen Klopp build on this season's success. The Reds have already signed Fabinho from Monaco and Naby Keita is incoming from RB Leipzig, meanwhile Lyon's Nabil Fekir is rumoured to be joining.
"I like the fact they're getting their business done early," said Murphy. "I still think the keeper thing needs addressing and I think it will be, and maybe another centre-back. But in terms of attacking areas, I think they're alright. Strength in depth is a question mark maybe, in terms of when you look at the benches of United and City. If you look at United's front six it's incredible really. But I'm pleased. They're close."
Herrera set for Bilbao return?
Ander Herrera could be headed back to the club he joined Manchester United from, with AS suggesting Athletic Bilbao are ready to make their former midfielder the team's highest-paid player to lure him back to La Liga.
The 28-year-old was United's player of the year two seasons ago, but was in and out of the lineup in the latest campaign and his place could be further complicated by the arrival of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.
But even if Herrera were surplus to requirements in Jose Mourinho's midfield, the story says that the Portuguese boss is hesitant to let him go without a like-for-like replacement in the team.
Finances could further complicate the move as "Bilbao are also unlikely to be able to have the money to tempt United to sell," meaning both club and player might have to wait until Herrera's contract expires at the end of next season to be reunited.
Fekir deal hits roadblock
Just when it seemed like a deal to bring Nabil Fekir from Lyon to Liverpool was all but done, the Reds have pulled back following the player's medical evaluation in France, reports the Telegraph.
With the clubs in agreement on a £53 million fee and Fekir ready to sign off on contract details, the outlet says "enough concerns have materialised over the last 24 hours to ensure the signing has not gone ahead as planned" and "Liverpool are offering no indication as to the nature of the problem."
The France international, who is ready to head to Russia to take part in the World Cup next week, was meant to be the third piece of high-profile business for Jurgen Klopp's side this summer along with Naby Keita and Fabinho. Instead, it might be a case of Liverpool having to "switch to alternative targets as they continue the hunt for a new No. 10," says the report.
Tap-ins
- Harry Kane has penned a new deal with Tottenham and, according to the Mirror, that will have a knock-on effect and persuade both Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen to follow suit. The England frontman has committed himself to the club until 2024 and the Mirror says his two teammates "are the next in line to get bumper new pay deals."
- Benfica forward Anderson Talisca has opted to join Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande on a six-month loan following links to Manchester United.
The Brazil youth international had been linked to a move to the Premier League, with Portuguese outlet O Jogo claiming last month that United submitted a £35 million offer for the 24-year-old.
- Juventus have signed Italian goalkeeper Mattia Perin from Serie A rivals Genoa for an initial fee of €12 million after he successfully passed a medical on Friday.

Champions League Team of the Week: Gnabry, Suarez and Salah make XI – No Messi or Ronaldo | Football | Sport
Reigning champions Liverpool finally got the defence of their title up and running with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men raced into a 3-0 lead with early goals from Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah but were pegged back by the resolute visitors before Salah struck the winner with 20 minutes remaining.
Barcelona came from behind to beat Inter Milan at the Nou Camp and there were also wins for Chelsea, Ajax, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund while PSG and Manchester City continued their perfect starts to the group stages.
Real Madrid fought back from two goals down to earn a point against Club Brugge but the result of the week was undoubtedly Bayern Munich’s 7-2 demolition of Tottenham – so who joins four-goal hero Sergen Gnabry in our Team of the Week?
Champions League Team of the Week – Matchday 2
GK: Andriy Pyatov (Shakhtar Donetsk)
Shakhtar secured a vital win away from home against Atalanta to boost their chances of qualifying for the knockout rounds.
And Pyatov was at the heart of the 2-1 victory, saving Josip Ilicic’s early penalty before making a number of other stops to keep his side in contention.
RB: Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund)
Hakimi opened the scoring against Slavia Prague with a brilliant solo effort, running the length of the pitch and firing home his first ever Champions League goal to cap a superb counter-attack.
The right-back then sealed the points late on when he provided the finishing touch on another quick break.
CB: Carlos Cuesta (Genk)
Genk earned a brave point against a dominant Napoli side thanks to some stout defending and a big slice of luck.
Arkadiusz Milik hit the bar twice, Jose Callejon struck the post and Kalidou Koulibaly had an effort cleared off the line but Cuesta was at the forefront of the resistance, throwing his body in front of shots and marshalling his team-mates to a well-deserved draw.
LB: Renan Lodi (Atletico Madrid)
A fairly routine win for Atletico against Lokomotiv Moscow with Lodi part of a miserly defence that limited the hosts to few real chances.
Jan Oblak deserves an honourable mention for an excellent double save in the closing moments, but his rearguard offered him excellent protection throughout.
RAM: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
This was not a vintage performance from the European champions, with Liverpool allowing Red Bull Salzburg back into the match with some uncharacteristically sloppy defending.
However, Salah had his shooting boots on and the two-goal hauls once again demonstrated his value to the Reds.
CM: Marko Marin (Red Star Belgrade)
Marin captained Red Star to a late victory over Olympiakos, helping the Serbian side jump above Tottenham in Group B.
The midfielder, who moved from Olympiakos to Belgrade last year, tormented his former club all evening and was rewarded when the home side scored two goals in the closing minutes to take all the points.
CM: Donny van de Beek (Ajax)
Ajax lost Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt in the summer but you wouldn’t know it as Van De Beek, Quincy Promes and Hakim Ziyech all scored to help see off Valencia.
The Dutch side have won both their matches in the Champions League this season and look set to cruise into the knockout stages.
LAM: Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich)
The most obvious pick of the week as Gnabry put Tottenham to the sword with four second-half goals.
Robert Lewandowski also got a brace and Joshua Kimmich scored a wonderful long-range strike but the former Arsenal youngster was unplayable and rightly stole all the headlines.
ST: Emmanuel Bonaventure (Club Brugge)
Brugge may feel slightly disappointed to leave the Bernabeu with just a point after being 2-0 with 40 minutes left to play, but they would have taken a 2-2 draw at the start of the night.
Bonaventure opened the scoring from close range, bamboozled Thibaut Courtois for the second when he lost his footing and almost had a third but was denied by substitute goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
ST: Takumi Minamino (Red Bull Salzburg)
Salzburg gave Liverpool and almighty fright at Anfield, with Minamino at the heart of the Austrian side’s fightback.
The Japan international scored and then set up substitute Erling Braut Haaland in a livewire display that will have big clubs taking notice.
ST: Luis Suarez (Barcelona)
Lionel Messi made his return from injury against Inter Milan but it was Barcelona team-mate Suarez who was the key player in the 2-1 victory.
The visitors scored early through Lautaro Martinez but an outrageous volley from outside the area levelled things up before a lovely touch and finish sealed the win.
