We just moved to a smaller apartment recently, which means we looked through all our stuff (until we hit our TIME TO MOVE NOW deadline and needed to just start throwing shit in boxes and slinging it to the new place), and I decided to take the Buckland's Big Blue with us. Buckland's is a witchcraft book by Ray Buckland that is, in some circles, considered THE starting point for beginners.
I haven't spent a lot of time with it. What I've looked at in it, I haven't been impressed with. But I'm keeping it anyway. Because I'm reasonably sure this is my second copy, and that SOMETHING would conspire to drop it in my lap AGAIN if I didn't.
Cuz again, I'm PRETTY SURE I bought a copy in high school, hid it from my parents, and got rid of it before or at college, since Secret Book Space was at a premium.
I didn't buy the current copy. I'm not even supposed to still have it.
I DON'T borrow books from people. I'm well aware I'm flaky, and had I Don't Borrow People's Books (libraries are Different) as a standing rule for myself by the time I was in college, when I joined a Pagan group that met weekly at the Interfaith Center. It was good, I made friends, we did some Sabbats, and went to the leader's house a few times, a dude in about his 60s or so. Since only 2 of us group members were still college students, the rest just lived in town or had graduated and stuck around, the whole group had a nice, very laid back, "we don't have any deadlines to worry about in our relationship with each other" vibe.
So of course, the leader guy felt himself to be in a mentorship role of us newbies.
And he Swore By Buckland's Big Blue.
When he learned I didn't have a copy, he Insisted I borrow his.
No, that's fine, I don't borrow books from people.
No, he insisted. Just bring it back.
No, I don't borrow books, I'm too flaky.
No, it's okay, I trust you, just bring it back.
Gods Damn It!
So that's how I got our copy (not actually ours) of Buckland's Big Blue.
I really should mail it to him, or something.

hi! so i am a very new witch, and am wanting to learn from reliable sources. Are there any specific ines you recommend? i want to understand the history properly and thoroughly as well, not just how to cast spells and such. If you dont mind pointing me me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate your help!! thank you<3
Firstly, welcome! I hope the Craft holds what you're looking for.
So here's the thing, every book you'll ever read or site you visit or person you talk to will be a source. And to be fair, most are reliable - based on that person's experience or tradition. Take it all with a grain of salt.
Some sources may appropriate culture or take certain beliefs out of context (chakras, smudging, etc.) It's a case of learning to discern what is open for you, and what is right for you to practice.
I've read books on Satanism, Chaos magick... A famous collection of spells compiled by Judika Illes that's riddled with closed culture practice (Book of 1000 or 5000 spells). The things that aren't meant for you will become apparent - either by others saying it's a closed practice, or it simply falling out of your practice.
I started by reading Wicca For One by Scott Cunningham & The Complete Book of Witchcraft by Ray Buckland. They're deeply religious in a Wiccan sense & certainly not without flaw, but also full of valid information. The key is to just keep learning. Forever. You don't get a degree in witchcraft - you practice it. Been doing this dance for 13 years, and honestly?
Learn something new every day, still.

Her family was killed during a civil war in Piena. She can make blades appear out of nothing to use as projectiles. Since he could not become a Saint (only women can become Saints) he went and found Altro, a hermit adept in various fighting styles and in science. His reason for wanting to become a Brave is revenge. Teguneu appeared at his village when he was a child and destroyed it while capturing all the villagers except Adlet. He fights using tools and trickery to catch his opponent off-guard. He is the self-proclaimed strongest man in the world.
