Marilyn Monroe as the guest of honor at Ray Anthony’s party at his home in Sherman Oaks in the San Fernando Valley of California, August 3rd, 1952. Anthony believed it to have helped advance her career. However, already by this time, she was the biggest rising star of the time.

Garden of Secrets - Extra Scene 2
Tumblr media
“Are you insane?!”
Well.
That was a very valid question after tonight.
Benedict let out a breath and sat down on the sofa across from Anthony’s desk, grabbing a glass and pouring whiskey into it.
“Benedict,” Anthony said, his voice already on edge. “If this is a jest—”
“It’s not a jest,” he said before taking a huge sip of his drink. “It’s the truth.”
Anthony shook his head, pacing in the room.
“You were caught unchaperoned with her—doing what, exactly?”
Benedict pursed his lips, the faint taste of her still lingering there, her intoxicating scent tickling his nose. Even the flash of what happened just an hour ago was enough to make his head spin, and this adrenaline rush didn’t seem like it would go away anytime soon.
His silence served enough of an answer for Anthony because he gawked at him for a moment.
“…Outside?!”
“I didn’t plan this, as shocking as it may sound.”
“Did she?”
Benedict’s gaze sharpened. “Anthony.”
“It’s a rational question.”
“It’s an accusation,” he said tersely. “And I will not hear any of that.”
Anthony ran a hand over his face and leaned back to his desk.
“I accept that she’s very beautiful but what you’ve done was a huge mistake, Ben.”
Benedict frowned. “If you’re suggesting I should have left her to those vultures—”
“That’s not what I’m saying!” Anthony insisted. “Of course you have to be married now, you’re honor bound to her! You shouldn’t have been alone with her in the first place!”
No.
It wasn’t just his honor. He knew exactly what it was, and he had been aware of it for some time now, and this whole night—
Even in the aftermath, even in this situation that was going to change both their lives, he didn’t feel the slightest trace of regret or anything of the sort. His whole being was so consumed by his love for her that he didn’t think he could feel anything else even if he tried.
The circumstances hadn’t been ideal, he had to admit, and yet…
“She’s not a modiste, nor is she a habitue of those so-called art parties you like to attend.”
Benedict’s frown deepened. “How did you—?”
Anthony shot him a knowing look. “You’re hardly subtle about your past time activities, brother,” he said. “But she’s a member of the ton, a debutante with one of the richest men in the ton as her uncle, and you thought you could risk both your reputations for a tumble in the dark—”
“That’s not what that was about,” Benedict cut him off and shook his head. “I wouldn’t put her in danger like that, ever.”
A silence fell upon them and Anthony took a deep breath.
“Benedict I saw the painting.”
Benedict’s eyes shot to his as he swallowed thickly. “And you still question me about my motives?”
“You wouldn’t be the first artist who was drawn to his muse on a physical level.”
Benedict let out a chuckle. “It’s not just that.”
“Then?”
“I’m in love.”
Anthony rolled his eyes. “You’re in lust as usual, just another—”
“I’m in love,” Benedict repeated, his voice so decisive that Anthony turned to look at him better as if trying to see whether he was genuine but then pulled back slightly when a look of realization dawned on his face.
“…Fuck.”
Benedict raised his glass in a mock of toast. “It’s not lethal or contagious Anthony, you don’t have to look that terrified.”
“You’re in love.”
“Yes.”
“How do you know it’s love and not just desire?”
Benedict leaned back on the sofa, deep in thought.
“The very thought of her consumes my whole being, and no matter who I am with, no matter who I touch, no one can even come close to the euphoria of spending a couple of seconds in her presence,” he muttered. “She is in my dreams when I’m asleep and in my thoughts when I’m awake, and I feel like—her mere existence makes everything else wash away.”
“Yes Benedict, because that girl is a maelstrom.”
Benedict shook his head.
“She’s not,” he said. “She’s as annihilating as one when she wants to, but she’s not. She’s…the first ray of sunshine after the storm.”
Anthony frowned at him and Benedict smiled to himself.
“I didn’t even like painting flowers until I met her.”
“How is that relevant?” Anthony asked and Benedict took a deep breath, then shook his head again.
“Nothing.”
Anthony clenched his jaw and narrowed his eyes. “And what about Charlotte?”
Benedict lifted his head. “Hm?”
“The amount of disrespect—what about Charlotte?”
“What about Charlie?”
“You threw away years of courtship with her for this muse of yours and you didn’t even think about Charlotte?”
Benedict scoffed. “I don’t know how many times Charlie or I have to say this, we weren’t courting.”
“Does she know that?”
“Of course she does! She’s my best friend Anthony, not my lover and just because all of you are hoping for us to be together does not mean we’d…” Benedict ran a hand over his eyes. “We’ve never seen each other that way. If anything, I’d say Charlie will be happy for me.”
Anthony pinched the bridge of his nose and Benedict downed his drink, then stood up.
“So?” he asked. “Do I have your approval?”
“Since when do you need it?” Anthony asked back and Benedict shrugged his shoulders.
“It’s serious this time.”
“At last we agree on something,” he muttered. “Make things right with Charlotte first.”
“Anthony...”
“I don’t care what you think you two were doing,” Anthony said. “Make things right with her before you go back to your ice queen— or your Venus Flytrap, whatever it is that they call her nowadays.”
Benedict heaved a sigh. “You do realize me and Charlie weren’t going to get married with or without her in the picture?”
“I realize that you think that,” Anthony said. “Charlotte on the other hand, I have no clue.”
Benedict shot him an exasperated glare and Anthony smiled slightly, giving him a chiding look.
“You’d better know what you’re doing you goddamn rogue.”
Benedict let out a laugh. “Oh that title means a lot, coming from you.”
“I’m not the one getting married.”
“Yet,” Benedict said. “Mark my words brother, love will hit you out of nowhere. Charlie agrees.”
Anthony’s head shot up. “What?”
“She’s convinced you will fall in love even if you claim otherwise,” Benedict pointed out. “And we will both enjoy it when it happens.”
“That will never happen.”
“Tell that to Charlie, not me!” Benedict called out as he walked out of the door, then made his way upstairs with a small smile on his face.

Two new experiences in one tonight, both courtesy of the arcade bar bear meetup:
Attending any event for bears
Going to an arcade to participate rather than just watching
Observations:
I am much worse at original Tetris than online knock-off Tetris
I enjoy pinball. The machine I played was Addams Family themed
I do not enjoy when gay men are like "ewww vaginas" in front of me but find it a mildly unsettling reminder that people almost always read me as a cis man
One person defended vaginas but complained that they were complicated, saying that the clit is "like the uvula of the vagina" (???)
Someone called me "petite" (?)
There were, among others, four Mikes, two Anthonys, an additional Ray, and one Eduardo
Apparently the organizers of Denver's main bear group are mostly in their 60s and 70s, and they're trying (and failing?) to get younger guys to join
I noticed someone's boyfriend, a 22-year-old twink in a Scream t-shirt, intently ogling me
A different person told me on my departure that I give good hugs
I have been invited to a party on Friday night
The other Ray is trying to organize a paint n' sip where the subject of your painting is a naked man. I hope this happens because it sounds fun

ଳ⋆。˚ | anthony lockwood x (gn + aspiring musician) reader
ଳ⋆。˚ | the last 900-something words to the song of a sea's tide | grieving, ghost-lock
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Did you know that the piano was originally called the gravicembalo col piano e forte? It means ‘the harpsichord that plays soft and loud.’”
Lockwood nearly sobs out loud when he hears your voice transmitted directly into his ear drums. The sounds of a street scene fade in, cars bumbling on asphalt, the clinking of rapiers, tourists, children, ivory keys pressed lightning-fast to improvise an upbeat, jazz-like tune.
People rustle by, and he’s almost with you on that winter’s day, watching the sun part the clouds with its rays. The sensation is nebulous, dizzying, to hear something of yours from a year ago right here, right now in the present.
A bike horn startles the boy, and he grips your cold fingers just a bit more firm.
“Get out of the way, for Marissa’s sake! People need to get places!”
Lockwood laughs, the first in a while as your voice crackles back into the narrative.
“Eventually, the name got shortened to pianoforte, then just to piano. It means soft, like the way I play it.”
String orchestra--a horrid medley of out-of-place notes, second rate violins and the shy, creaky baritone of a cello, underlined by ivory velvet. This is the song you accompanied at the Fittes party, played in a minor key. Percussion is the sound of bodies standing from chairs to the backdrop of applause, harmonized with a short segment from Aria of the Night.
“As an accompanist, I play my part quietly as to not overshadow the actual ensemble.”
Jingling keys swung around a finger. The tip of a rapier and the swish of a coat brushing gravel. Ghost-lamps coming to life and reflecting silver over the Thames. Watercolor night skies.
“But when I’m not with anyone, I get to play forte. It’s loud and messy and totally up to me. It’s beautiful.”
He can hear it now, an unfamiliar layer of symphony under the clips of your life together. Your composition, with its many flaws and borrowed favors, brings with it the grind of a bike chain against wheels, bumping over runnels of lavender scented water.
First date, says the voice in his head. If you’d backed out then, this never would’ve happened.
An inkling of a xylophone chimes into the symphony as you say, “I think that I like playing piano for you though. Forte isn’t, well, my forte.”
The you immortalized in the recording laughs. Lockwood wants to engrave the sound into the underside of his skin where no one can reach it.
It is now that strings come into play, violas dipping downward, woodwinds fading out into rest. Harmony is a bass-line, dribbling up and down like a basketball, or better, the rhythm of laughter. It seems that you’d pulled favors with the orchestra in order to get an ensemble for your amateur song. No, not just a song, Lockwood corrects himself. A masterpiece.
“Anthony John Lockwood,” you’re whispering quietly under the blanket of static, “you’ve no idea what you’re doing to me, don’t you?”
“Say that for yourself,” he responds, quiet as you had been. “I love you so, so much, I--”
“Re, a drop of golden sun.”
It’s him singing, dulcet and polite. You join in with the harmony, left and right, pianoforte.
“Mi, a name I call myself.”
“Far, a long, long way to run,” Lockwood sings along, words cracking under the burdening weight of sorrow.
( He’d run to the ends of the earth if it meant he could tell you that he loved you one more time. )
The duet fades out with the sound of bows pulling notes together in a slur. Xylophones lend light chimes into the melody, reminding Lockwood of the ring of a bell at the door of an ice cream shop one bittersweet summer ago. This too stops soon, notes erased in the process of mixing.
He finds himself missing all this. Even the gentle chords you’d been playing have stopped, and he can hear the quiet ticking of a metronome keeping speed as you’re left in the dust. Slip-up, feet sliding in wet sand on a rainy beach.
“Ah, I lost the last page of notes…”
The silence rolls on, the sound a film makes when it’s reeling.
“Sorry, Anthony, it seems that my story’s incomplete.”
Don’t go.
“Besides, I can only keep so much stored on one tape. This one’s severely rushed, basically a prototype. You’ll get a better one eventually, more suited to your tastes, know what I mean? Love you. Signing off--”
“Angel.” He completes the sentence with his favored term. Lockwood can imagine a scene in the library where you’re curled around each other, listening to a fairytale told only in sound. You’d cringe in embarrassment when the end approaches, mumbling about how stupid the hum of your voice had been, turning away in fits when Lockwood would try to tickle you admitting your own excellence.
“There’s this girl I hired, Lu--”
“Lockwood.” It’s George. The researcher’s knuckles rap sharply on the doorframe. “Lucy’s getting antsy. I think it’s because Barnes keeps scrutinizing her. We should go.”
The agent wilts. “Right.”
The researcher strides over, tugs fondly at a finger on your free hand. He leaves a little sprig of lavender by your wrist. “Later, Beethoven. Shame you can’t be here for my birthday. I’ll keep you in my wishes, though.”
George disappears behind the doorway, leaving a wake of light footsteps. Lockwood twines his fingers with yours, a knot of callused and scarred knuckles, presses his lips to your cold hands, remembers the feeling of ice cream against his lips, the sweetness of it and your kiss.
“Thank you, angel."

i’m making my own post about the LS Dunes twitter drama because i have a LOT of thoughts.
the hate that LS Dunes is receiving on twitter is some of the most unfair bullshit i’ve ever witnessed within this fandom. if you’re not like me and you keep away from toxic places like dunestwt, good for you, but you also might be unaware of some of the things this band is facing at the moment. let me break it down. a full history and my own take. (there’s an entire fucking essay after the cut) <3
the internet blew up when the AI scandal happened. people who had never even heard or cared about LS Dunes before suddenly had fully formed opinions and were flooding Dunes’ comment sections and Anthony Green’s DMs. when this happened, trust me when i tell you that NO ONE was on LS Dunes’ side entirely. even us who were and still are fully a part of the fandom were disappointed in them. it was a horrible idea, lacking research and insight. something they probably had to double down on due to contracts that made them release the video despite the backlash. but do you know what the fans did? we didn’t watch the video. that’s it. it’s that simple. however, there were some individuals who decided that an appropriate response was sending death threats to Anthony Green. i think i speak for all of us Dunes fans who say to that; fuck you. that is the lowest low anyone could’ve gone to and anyone who messaged him that, you should be ashamed of yourself.
when all of the sudden this cool new band that had a smaller fandom compared to that of MCR, Thursday, Circa, and Coheed, got shoved under a spotlight that opened the floor for apparently anyone to say whatever they wanted to the members of Dunes, fans of My Chem especially were now paying attention to Frank Iero, despite never having cared about his projects outside of MCR before. He was under a microscope, just waiting for him to say something about Anthony or about AI. When he finally was spotted active online, it was in the comment section of his friend's Instagram post. This is where the irrational anger and hatred began, when the screenshots were shared all over twitter and labeled Frank as antisemetic. something that would've been a harmless joke if Frank wasn't already in that AI spotlight, now it fans the flames.
after that, most of us moved on. the small community of angry people on twitter, however, did not. if you remember earlier this year, there was a group of people who decided that Frank Iero was "cheating" on MCR due to the fact that he plugged both the MCR Australian tour and the LS Dunes California show in the same instagram post. essentially, this only escalated. there are people on twitter who genuinely believe that Frank is single-handedly preventing the production of MCR's fifth studio album due to his dedication to LS Dunes. as if Dunes didn't function as a band that worked around the members' schedules, assuring that an LS Dunes tour never collided with the touring or recording of MCR, Thursday, Saosin, Coheed, etc. etc. do you actually, genuinely believe that Gerard, Ray, and Mikey are currently sitting in a recording studio in Los Angeles, just waiting for sweet sweet Frankie to stop touring and return to them in Cali so they can FINALLY record MCR5? obviously Gee, Ray, and Mikey have NOTHING else to do in their lives and Frank is totally just destroying everything by using his free time to make amazing music with LS Dunes.
LS Dunes is a band of 5 dorky dads who, guess what? already have money! they have bands that are HUGE in the scene. LS Dunes exists because Tucker, Tim, Anthony, Frank, and Travis LOVE doing it! so yes, sometimes the band pulls funny stunts because they can do whatever they want. like selling vip tickets for a fucking pizza party. there is literally nothing harmful about Dunes wanting to hang with a few of their fans who are willing to pay to eat pizza with them. if you go to twitter, this will be one of the many many things that people are angry about. why? because they have NOTHING else to be mad at. all they know is that they want to be angry at Dunes and to be angry at Frank because they don't have MCR5 yet. however, when they can't find anything to be mad about, i guess it means we can be mad at pizza?
finally. the very recent video that is still circling. the video that was posted by one user and then immediately was thrown into a completely different context than anyone had intended in the first place. the video in question is LS Dunes on tour with PTV, between songs on their set with Anthony chatting up the audience. now, i'm not sure about y'all, but i would say that if Anthony in any way has seen the kind of shit people say about him on twitter, he would have every right to distance himself. i would say that for anyone. the internet is a horrific place where you can get attacked and insulted for pretty much anything. Anthony knows this, and he knows what kind of effect that can have on someone's mental health. believe it or not, Anthony cares about his fans and their mental health, too. so, as a word of advice, he told this particular crowd that it was okay to stop and take a break for a few days. it was okay to put a pause on constantly having to respond to anything and everything going on in the world. because if you don't take a break, you're hurting yourself. you will burn out. and no one wants that. Anthony doesn't want that. in the heat of a rockin LS Dunes set, Anthony tells his crowd "don't post political shit". lets be real, politics is one of the MOST emotionally draining things online.
now, what does the angry twitter mob say about Anthony advising people to take care of themselves? why, they make it out to seem like Anthony was spreading hate for real world tragedies and bluntly stating that he didn't give a shit about the state of the world!!!! because of COURSE thats what you got out of that!!!!!
it isn't JUST that Anthony and Dunes are getting unnecessary hate thrown at them, it's the gleeful attitude that people on twitter have when talking shit about this band. as if its okay. as if its justified and NORMAL to beat down musicians like this. (and it's not just twitter. i see the dunes haters on tumblr too. i see you. and i hope if you're reading this it means you'll take some time to re-evaluate). the main problem i run into with this attitude is that i have noticed that the people who complain on twitter are JUST on twitter, and they do not see the LOVE and the SUPPORT that Dunes has from their real fans. in their minds, EVERYONE thinks like them, so that must mean EVERYONE has decided to take a fat shit on LS Dunes. i just want them to zoom out. zoom out of your twitter circle and realize that there are real things to worry about than trying to make Anthony Green look like a villain.
if you feel the need to spread lies and hate about the members of LS Dunes, send threats or nasty messages to them and their families, and boo them off stage at the PTV tour, and yet you STILL have the audacity to consider yourself an MCR fan, take a look at yourself in the mirror. still don't see it? fine. you may not see where you're wrong, but i know Gerard, Ray, and Mikey would. you can't consider yourself an MCR fan and continue to shred apart the livelihood of 1/4 of the band.
you don't have to love LS Dunes. hell. you dont even have to LIKE LS Dunes. i would never shut you down when you share your opinions that LS Dunes' music isnt for you. the music you love/hate is for you and you only. what i WILL shut you down for is nonsensical hate against the PEOPLE who make the music.
my name is J, LS Dunes is my favourite band in the whole damn world. they saved my life, and Anthony Green continues to save my life every god damn day. clearly, i am passionate about it. if you read this far i am fucking amazed, but i hope you learned something. my asks are always open.

Dating Christian was like the best thing ever. He was the ray of sunshine in a usually very dark place. When you met him at that party six months ago you knew you were in for it. You knew about his crazy lifestyle and his band that he and his lifelong best friends had been working on, and the album they were about to put out was nothing short of amazing. Their first few singles had started to gain some traction and the album was projected to do very well.
“Oi babe!” Christian comes up behind you, putting his hands on your shoulders, “you wanna come down to this party with Mitty and I later tonight?” You flash him a small smile before replying.
“Yeah, i’ll go, where’s it at?”
“Just down the street, love.” he beams at you.
You had spent all night getting ready for this party, throwing on something just fancy enough so that it would pass, but just comfortable enough so you could dance. You heard a knock on your door which you assumed to be Christian.
“Come in!” you shout, finishing the wing on your eyeliner. To your surprise, Mitchel comes through the door.
“Hey y/n” he speaks in that voice of his that just makes everyone want to listen.
“Hey Mitty!” you say, cheerfully. You and Mitchel had gotten pretty close over the time you and Christian had been dating and although Christian knew it was all purely friendship it didn’t stop him from being jealous. He couldn’t help it, he was just a jealous person. So when he came across your closed bathroom door and heard you and Mitchel talking on the other side, he couldn’t help the jealousy from boiling over in him. He knew you were so loyal to him and Mitchel would never be attracted to you. But still, it was just the way he was. So when he opened the door and you smiled at him it almost took everything in him not to lunge at you and kiss your lips but he knew you had just done your lipstick. He gave Mitchel a look that he thought was discreet but you and Mitchel knew him all too well. You both knew what Christian  was doing and it made you have butterflies. Even more so when he came up behind you and wrapped his arms around you, still giving Mitchel that look. Mitchel laughed to himself and excused himself from the room.
“I’ll catch you later y/n” he said, shutting the door behind him. Christian planted a small kiss on your lips.
“What was that about?” you ask him, to which he responds with nothing but a head shake and another kiss.
“Nothin’ babe” he smiles against you.
