Okay, random-ass beauty tip of the day:
If you have dark circles and can’t seem to get rid of them, try eating vegetables. I swear it works.
I get dark circles every time I go days without eating enough veggies.
That is all, hope it helps someone

One of the best things I did when it comes to discovering new music... is simply adding a new song into my rotation. If I hear something that I even remotely like on the radio or something, I'll add it into my big playlist of all my songs. From there, it'll eventually come up in my rotation, and I can decide if I really enjoy it. This is specifically for people like me who struggle to step outside of your musical comfort-zone and try something new.

Random writing tips that work strangely well #3
This was an accident.
But in my attempt to create a character that overthinks so much that reality happens in the background/through a very heavy lens....
I ended up following a lot of writing advice, it improved my writing, and I have an overthinking character! (Although this works for pretty much every type of character, just edit the writing style to your needs.)
In essence:
Give your character a lens with which they view the world. For my character, they are a storyteller and will make a story about the clouds and the wind. For a character that has a deep knowledge about... physics and statistics for example, might make metaphors to that and notice such things more often
Tumblr media
But don't stop it at just interests! If you can combine the lens with the internal conflict (desires, fears, current perception of the world) It has a whole layer of depth.
~What does this new information mean to the character? ~
For example, you can have the musician character notice the sounds of everyone's voices, and that will reveal what the musician character thinks of others.
You can have a character that's analytic try to decode their sensory perceptions and try to figure out what they are feelings and why. They may spend a lot of time trying to figure out their past and what specific moments made them the way they are, and they might do the same for others. This will reveal that the analytic character cares a lot about knowing everything and they might be scared to leave things up to chance/unexplained.
Jealous characters will see other people's achievements and either downplay those achievements or try to imagine themselves surpassing them. (The 'smart child' that's slowly falling behind anyone?)
Tumblr media
AND MY BEST ADVICE IS TO PRACTICE WRITING THIS BEFORE YOU START INCORPERATING IT INTO YOUR WIP! For me, I would plot like crazy then... kind of go off the rails in my actual writing. Then I'd get upset that my writing didn't match my ideas.
And it's okay! Getting to know your character takes time.
What works for me is to write some loose notes down, then I'll do some practice snippets. Random ideas with no coherent structure or events... it's just practice for the character.
Backstory also helps! (and it doesn't necessarily have to be tragic... just informative to the character on how they should navigate the world)
Tumblr media
If you have your character reacting and analyzing what is happening to them and what they are going to do about it, then pretty much every type of paragraph (scene description, describing another character, actions etc.) are going to be a lot more fun to read and write!
And as always - the best writing methods are the ones that work for you, take what you need, modify it for your wip, or make something up on your own. There's no need to take advice as the end all be all!

hey i don't know what writer needs to hear this today but you can have characters in your work who exist only to move the plot forward. you can create an oc for a fanfic who exists to ask a question at the right time and is never seen again. you can create a novel and have random characters that exist to move the story. characters are elements of narrative. not every single one has to have a whole backstory and a life fleshed out. sometimes they can just be there for a scene and then never be involved again. isn't that how life works? don't we meet people and then they vanish? aren't our lives simply moments spent to drive forward the plots of others? your character can be pointless. you character can exist in a moment. your character can take up space. your character can exist, even if you don't know their birthday and their mother's favorite song.
characters are not people. you do not have to make them into people unless you want to. you owe them nothing. use characters however you want in your story. develop them as is relevant. otherwise, it literally does not matter.

Chronic pain is. Such an unfathomable concept to people. I’ll be like “hey I’m gonna rest for an hour or two because I reached my limit on walking/exercise and I’m in a lot of pain right now” and then a family member or friend will say”actually this article says that’s really bad for you” and the article in question is always something like “Health Tips for the Average Normal Healthy Person by Mike Ablebodied”
Not to mention finding resources like. I’ll find resources by disabled people and it’ll be like “hey exercise is important, but find a way to workout that uses less spoons, and if you’re having a high pain day then take a break, and here’s some exercises you can do from bed”. And then I’ll find some able bodied persons fibromyalgia tips and it’s like “if you don’t walk sixteen miles every day your muscles will atrophy and you’ll die also your mobility aid makes you weak”. Guess which one of those sources I trust more. And now guess which sources the people around me always seem to find and listen to. Are these kinds of things common or am I just unlucky? Does anyone else have this problem?

Ever drawn anything from "Tipping the Scales"? >:D Good dragon practice if ya think about it! just a suggestion if ya haven't ! ໒(⊙ᴗ⊙)७✎▤ (its another work from the same person who created Winged Multiverse, its flipping goooodddd, don't know if you checked it out already but i just found it ) ♡( •ॢ◡-ॢ)✧˖° ♡
I haven't done dragon art, but I once drew a doodle of a scene (Chpt 4) that made me roll on the floor. (/ω\) I respect so much the work that Kinzy's dragon anatomy requires and I recognize that my limited knowledge makes any attempt at art a real challenge;
I've always enjoyed seeing how Kinzy brings authentic life to their dragons through their incredible designs and dynamic poses ✪ ω ✪ (Dream's drago form is my favorite, as well as his expressions, he's such a sweetheart!!)
I'm not sure I feel prepared to illustrate these magnificent, winged creatures yet. What I am sure of is rereading this beautiful story once again. Thanks for your question (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

how to make your writing be remembered forever and possibly be well loved.
(incredibly stupid and silly fanfiction line at the end of this post) I know that title is incredibly daunting but listen, its very simple. you ready?
MAKE STRONG CHARACTERS
"but kat! surely its not that simple! " nononono listen. bear with me. I want you to think of your favorite thing. Now ask: what do you remember the most about the thing you love? I will go first:
Tumblr media
I love team fortress 2. and guess what: this game has been around since 2007, and was in development hell since before I was even born. The game has been around for 16 fucking years. And guess what? in the strong year of 2023 team fortress 2 Is STILL getting memed about. and do you want to know the crazy part? the character designs to the naked eye are not special at all. ok sure from a designer standpoint, these are very well designed characters made so that you can easily tell who they are based on their silhouette. but from the average joe.... tf2 is iconic but overall it looks ok. it doesn't seem special to a stranger to tf2. look at this completely random and arbitrary example of a game in the same genre:
Tumblr media
I don't know shit about the characters in overwatch. Yeah i have a BASIC idea on what their personality is like based on voice lines and some videos i guess... but in-game they just exist. these characters are brightly colored, they have beautiful unique designs, hell they have even more diversity such as robots and people from other cultures! but i don't remember shit about these characters. Maybe I remember the ice lady and tracer, but nothing else. and yeah part of overwatch struggling right now is incompetant development, BUT: The characters in team fortress 2 are SO remember-able because the characters have such a vibrant personality. I am an orange box owner, its been a decade and a half and I am still remembering this game and enjoying art about it.
"but kat! that is a comedy game! Overwatch is a very serious game! are you saying comedy is needed to make a character more noticeable?" no. though I think allowing your characters to lighten up every now and then would humanize them. Not full on goofy, just give them something that makes them likeable. and if you cant do that, you can STILL make a compelling character even though they are mostly seriousness. I have an even more awfully thought out example:
Tumblr media
kung fu panda is a masterclass in making a serious comedic movie somehow work. Master Oogway.... he isn't a comedic character at all. Yeah we made memes about him, but ignoring that, he is a wise and resourceful person. He is at calm and has faith in this intuition. there are a lot of characters like this. What makes Oogway stand out is that he is also a little bit kooky and sassy.
youtube
this youtube clip sums up what I mean. It is a funny line, it fits the character, and It doesn't ruin the seriousness of the moment. Some of the most successful series in history have something about them that has appealed to people. In my opinion: characters with strong personality and interesting traits is always a good way to ensure your writing is successful. The second most important is the characters bouncing off of each other in terms of their chemistry with each other. There is a reason why I spent years playing the first Destiny game and all of the DLC, but I remember fuck all about the characters. I think I maybe remember the bootleg star lord robot guy.
A writing exercise
here is an exercise to get you in the spirit of character making. step 1- get a random character from a random bit of media. In this case let me bring you master Oogway. Step 2- Get a completely different character from a completely unrelated series. I am going to give you Scout from team fortress 2. step 3- write a random ass thing about them interacting. Think about how the characters would react to each other and why. Think about each characters values in life and think about how they would bond and conflict with each other. Think about characters similar to the character they met in the past and how they reacted then, and if they have never interacted, make something interesting with it. Step 4- keep experimenting. Once you get into the spirit you can apply this to any new character you could want to make anyways thats it byeee- "arent you going to do that ?" do what? "make a writing thing about oogway and scout. " ........
Scout: let's go turtle you got nothing on my speed- Oogway: The one who first resorts to violence shows that he has no more arguments. Scout: that sounds like chicken talk! come on tough guy let me have it- Oogway then proceeds to make scout eat shit before vanishing in a cloud of cherry blossoms and dust from the desert. If this post isn't popular I want you to know my dignity was lost for nothing.

hey readers! ever find yourself without something to fulfill you? maybe you’re tired of all the soul crushing, degrading smut that circulates this app on the daily with THOUSANDS of notes because no one could possibly like such treacherous filth, could they? I mean, what type of slutty, self hating jezebel would even think of such things? Perhaps you’d like a sweet, powder puff fluff that you just can’t be vexed to reblog from other writers because let’s be honest, it takes too much work, doesn’t it? 🥰 I mean, who wants to waste time supporting ACTUAL writers when it’s much easier to twiddle those dirt stained thumbs together and construct useless, harmful critiques that really aren’t worth two farts in the wind. But boy, do I have a solution for you all! This new, innovative technology will help you create the fic of your dreams! Follow these steps below:
1. go to your browser of your choice (Google, IE, Edge, Opera for all my gaming nerds)
2. search ‘Google Docs’ and from there, you’ll get a screen. Perhaps it’ll look like this or maybe this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Click that pretty little plus sign and you’re on your way to achieving fictional bliss.
and remember kids, the next time you feel the strong urge to post another meaningless, recycled bait post because no one in real life loves you and attention is scarce so you seek it the only way you know how…your old buddy Google Docs will be right there to fill that void. Let’s hope you can make it past the spelling of the name stage ❤️ have a good day everyone!

Pro tip for writing siblings:
It's not just that directly calling your siblings "brother" or "sister" to their face is not something that happens, but additionally it's only a term I will use if people I'm talking to don't know who my sibling is, and won't have a frame of reference for who I'm talking about unless I spell it out. When talking with friends about my brother, when talking to my brother's friends, and especially when talking with family about my brother, I never use the term brother, it's only ever his name. I know this makes it much harder to get across the sibling exposition, but it makes it feel so much more realistic.
