The Princess Bride Musical Dreamcast
The fact that with all the new broadway musicals are adaptations and NO ONE has done the Princess Bride yet is absolutely criminal, so if that were to hypothetically happen, here's my dream cast list.
Framing Device:
Grandchild: I can't really put anyone for grandchild, since I don't know many child actors, but I do think there should be a rotating cast, like they had with Mathilda on Broadway.
Grandfather: Mandy Patinkin, aka the original Inigo Montoya.
Mother: Robin Wright, aka the original Princess Buttercup.
I think it would be really sweet and fun to have two of the original movie's cast play parts in the framing device, almost like they're passing the baton of telling the story to the next cast.
Main Story:
Westly: Joshua Henry
I don't know if this is a controversial statement, but Westly is a baritone, and I think Joshua Henry would be absolutely perfect. He's charming as fuck, he's a phenomenal actor and vocalist, and he's absolutely gorgeous. Perfect leading man for a story that is about telling the best story ever.
Buttercup: Maria Bilbao
I think Buttercup would be a legit soprano, and as a big fan of Sweeney Todd and the recent revival, Maria Bilbao, who played Johanna, would be absolutely perfect for it. Just go listen to her Green Finch and Linnet Bird and you'll get it.
Inigo Montoya: Colman Domingo
Does Colman Domingo sing? I don't know. Could he act the absolute SHIT out of the confrontation between Inigo and the Six-Fingered Man? ABSOLUTELY. I have this vision of how to adapt the scene, which would also kinda translate Inigo's arc to a musical version. So in the original, the Six-Fingered Man trying anything to manipulate him, mocking him, that great "you have an overdeveloped sense of vengeance line, and Inigo is just not having it. He just keeps repeating the iconic line over and over again. In the musical, I would have the six-fingered man sing, like he's trying to get Inigo to sing with him, to give in to the performance, but Inigo won't sing, he just keeps repeating his line over and over. He refuses to conform to the typical "rising above" narrative and leave the Six-Fingered Man alive, he will be true to himself and his mission and won't let himself be distracted. Anyway, I don't know if this is a good idea, but Colman Domingo would be amazing either way.
Prince Humperdink: Aaron Tveit
I think Prince Humperdink should be the archetypal tenor boy and who is a better representation of current archetypal tenor boys on broadway than Aaron Tveit? Also he's really talented and I think he would act the shit out of this smarmy bastard role.
Count Rugen aka The Six Fingered Man: Josh Groban
I need Josh Groban on Broadway more, and I think he would do great at a quieter villain role, especially coming off a more angry and bloodthirsty role like Sweeney Todd. Also he looks a bit like the original Count Rugen, so that's a bonus.
Vizzini: Alex Brightman
I don't really have much behind this one, other than Vizzini is a weird little guy and Alex Brightman plays weird little guys really well.
Fezzik: Jason Segal
So ideally, I'd actually be able to cast an actor with gigantism to play the part, but I don't know of any, and couldn't find any while googling, so this is my backup essentially. During the lockdowns, a bunch of celebrities did The Princess Bride over zoom, and the scene with Rainn Wilson as Vizzini, Pedro Pascal as Inigo and Jason Segal as Fezzik is genuinely really great, but Jason Segal's Fezzik impression is spot-on and actually amazing. Also, we know from the Muppet Movie, How I Met Your Mother and Forgetting Sarah Marshall that he can sing so, I think he would do great.
Miracle Max and Valerie: Joey Richter and Lauren Lopez
I assume posting this to Tumblr, more people would know who Joey Richter and Lauren Lopez are than the average social media platform, but they are part of Team Starkid and Tin Can Bros and do some fantastic original musicals (please look up the Hatchetfield Trilogy and Spies Are Forever if you haven't seen them yet). They're both extremely talented performers, and also married in real life, so they would absolutely kill this.
Clergyman(Mawage guy): Brian d'Arcy James
I don't really have much of a reasoning behind this, I just think he'd do a good job.
Backups/Close Calls:
Denee Benton as Princess Buttercup
She's one of the best parts of Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, and that's saying something because that musical is (in my opinion) one of the best of all time
Pedro Pascal as Inigo Montoya
I don't know if he sings, and he would be amazing for this, but I wanted to challenge myself to think outside the most obvious choice. However, sometimes the obvious choice is a good one.
Bernadette Peters as Valerie
If the Witch from Into the Woods found love and inner peace

[image description: a cropped photo of a bullet journal page. there are four icons drawn inside squares in shades of green. the icons are a play button, a scene board, an open book, and a writing quill. they are minimalist and stylized to have no curved lines. beside each square something that corresponds to the icon is written in a matching shade of green. /end ID]
Media I Loved Last Week
My favorite thing I listened to last week was Quinine by Dessa. Eddie my girl Eddie, Eddie my girl. My girl Eddie. My girl. Eddie. Also it sounds nice lmao. Made it to #1 on my On Repeat in three days. My housemates wish death upon me. 10/10
My favorite thing I watched last week was Cooties. Polyamory between Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, and some girl. And they beat up a bunch of school children. Docked it a point because I thought it was more uncomfortable than funny in most cases, and that's not my personal style. 9/10
My favorite thing I read last week was The Verifiers by Jane Pek. I started reading this uhhhh September last year?? RIP. I started where I left off, and I don't remember every detail but it's pretty easy to follow for a mystery! Which is a feature for me (right now), not a bug. 10/10
I wrote 6341 words total last week. All of that went toward Curse The Messenger, and I finished chapter three on Saturday. I'm still waayyy behind, but I'm slowly catching up. Pretty happy with this progress.

Non royal related but what do you think of Rainn Wilson?
I’ve only really seen clips of him in The Office and he seems funny. My level of knowledge around B list TV actors from iconic shows is clearly not strong lol

This is a little off topic but not really I love how humble Phil was as a person and actor not a lot of actors are, for example Rainn Wilson seems at times to be almost resentful of being known as Dwight Schrute from The Office and I can understand how it would be frustrating to get Dwight jokes all the time but he’s still doing better than most actors out there
Yeah absolutely! I think Phil’s range and willingness to explore unconventional roles is one reason why he wasn’t identified with one particular performance — even though he won the Oscar for playing Truman Capote, everyone has their own favorite iconic PSH character (Lester Bangs, Brandt, Plutarch, Dusty, Dodd, etc) which is neat :) It’s probably rough, as an actor, to be pigeonholed into one character like Rainn with Dwight (or anyone from The Office tbh lol)
Unfortunately I think some of Phil’s humility came from his self-doubt and not ever really believing that he was good enough, too… But generally he was just a modest guy! and always said how grateful he was to spend his life acting :)

I could possibly Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey agreeing but maybe not Steve Carell or John Krasinski and certainly not Rainn Wilson cause he seems very bitter now.
the show was no where near as good once steve left. it’s not the same without michael whether you love or hate his character. he was the glue of the show! every comment i’ve seen on the news of a reboot is someone saying they absolutely do not want a reboot or revival and i really can’t see why they would try to reboot it with new characters when the original US office is so iconic. they cannot live up to it.

Jenna Pam's going to walk back to her desk, which is very confusing to Jim, because he was pretty sure that she was sitting at her desk. But it's not her. It's Dwight in a Pam wig wearing Pam's sweater. And he starts pelting Jim with snowballs.
Angela Yeah, we find out, I guess, that Dwight has wigs for every person in the office because you just never know.
Jenna Mm hmm.
Angela I have a question for you.
Jenna What is it?
Angela Was that really Pam's sweater or did they get him another sweater?
Jenna No, they squeezed him into my sweater.
Angela  Okay.
Jenna Yes. The arms were very, very tight on him. Both Mindy and Kim Ferry talked about this wig sequence on OfficeTally.com. Mindy said, When I was writing this episode, I just thought how funny Rainn would look in a Meredith wig. And my stage direction for him was he, quote, Whips around like a dramatic hamster. She said, The Stanley is probably my favorite because of the way Rainn held up the crossword puzzle with so much seriousness. Kim Ferry said that the direction she was given was that these wigs should not be perfect because Dwight would have made them himself on the farm. So they're a little bit off, but a close match. She also said that we did all those shots in really quick order, and that she and Sherri Perry would rush in and put a new wig on, get the shot, and then do the next one. It was all really fast. I think we were on a deadline.
Angela Well, you'll see some great reactions of everyone because we were just reacting as ourselves. Again, watch Phyllis's face as John gets pelted. And Jenna, I'm just going to need to know for future reference, what is a dramatic hamster?

Do you think sitcom actors like Matt Leblanc and RIainn Wilson really do have a difficult time getting roles cause of their iconic characters?
You're right this is an interesting one! So I'm not entirely sure if it's that they have trouble getting roles or if they kind of...can't act outside their schtick? Looking through wikipedia, it looks like Rainn has actually done a lot and never has really slowed down. Nothing nearly as big as The Office of course but also some diverse roles. Matt on the other hand seems to stay in sitcom and comedy land and I honestly think it's very possible that that's the only thing he's good at. Because some of their costars have broken free from that. From The Office, John Krasinski has done drama & action & horror, Steve Carell has done literally every genre--and super well, even Phyllis like she's great in The OA. On Friends, David did dramatic roles (even tho it was kinda comedic because of what a putz he was in Band of Brothers), Jennifer for sure, etc. I think it's more about desire to expand horizons (it seems like Matt might just be kinda chilling with his fuckload of cash and fancy cars tbh, but who knows) versus just hanging out. I think with talent and desire, it's definitely possible to break out of their old characters, if they are willing and able to do so
