Who is R6S' new villain?

The mysterious guy who killed Harry is evidently our new villain, but who is Deimos?

In mythology, Deimos is the god of dread and terror, who causes havoc in armies alongside his father Ares, brother Phobos (god of fear & panic) & goddess of discord Eris. Seems like he's making a statement with that name.

We also know he's ex-Rainbow. Before killig Harry, he says "Rainbow used to be feared in my time" and "you disgraced my unit". So definitely someone who used to be in Rainbow, maybe even an old Six? Let's see who are our candidates to be under the mask of Deimos 👀

Disclaimer: I'm getting all my knowledge of these characters from the wiki, if you spot any misinformation or have a better analysis, by all means, please do share!

Bishop: "Despite his excellence as a soldier, he does have a blind spot while leading; he sees the failures of his team as his own failures [...] Bishop is a driven individual, who is not above breaking rules." Sounds like a pretty good fit for the spot, except he never was Six. Although he was Deputy Director, so... maybe.

Ding Chavez: "He regards Clark as a mentor and father figure, and is fiercely loyal to him. [...] He is a natural leader, and an ambitious man who takes pride in his accomplishments." So not only was he Six for a time, he could also feel insulted that the unit Clark created has taken such a sharp decline in his eyes, and take that as a disrespect to Clark's legacy, whom he clearly admires. The motives are there, and by calling himself Deimos he could be alluding how Clark (his father-in-law and mentor) is in his eyes Ares! Probability of him being Deimos is rather strong.

John Clark: "A perfectionist, he cuts neither himself nor his men any slack. [...] His request is granted in 1999 with the formation of Rainbow." The founder of Rainbow, the original Six. There's a slight problem with this theory tho... he'd be seventy-something by now. Definitely too old to be Deimos.

Logan Keller: He worked under Bishop (and therefore under Chavez, who was Six during that time). Arguably the golden age of old Rainbow. He volunteered to join so he probably feels pride about being part of such prestigious organization. He was leader of a few teams, but never rose to the position of Six. Probability of him being Deimos: maybe, but lower than Bishop, imo.

James Wolfe: he was supposed to be Six in the cancelled game Rainbow 6: Patriots. It would be funny, in a meta way, if he turned out to be the villain, since his game got cancelled to work on Siege instead. He's mostly an unknown quantity, so it wouldn't offend old fans if he became a villain now. And he was Six apparently. Definitely has a higher chance of being Deimos than Keller or Clark, imo.

okay, i really like this prompt and i've seen it be done before but i wanted to add my own personal touch to it. i hope you enjoy this! these are also written in head cannon style.

timur glazkov;

he teaches your children about art from a young age, not exactly teaching about colours but rather lighting and shading techniques.

i imagine him to be a helicopter parent (sorry).

i head cannon him having two daughters and maybe one son and they all have his bright blue eyes.

ceo of stranger danger. "don't get in a stranger's car!". goes crazy if his kids' don't answer the phone after one ring.

scolds his children for swearing.

maxim basuda ;

camping trips (he's saving the skinning part until they're a bit older)

your children's first language is russian. english comes second. even if you don't speak russian. he doesn't care.

"your dad's scary. he's a scary man."

such a softie especially when it comes to his daughters but refuses to wear pink and dress up. might play with dolls but if you take a photo of him with the dolls it will be the end of that for a very long, long, long time.

expect moments of children running around with knives. maxim will laugh and then loose his mind when one of them trips (is not harmed)

shuhrat kessikbayev ;

shuhrat is very self conscious of himself as a parent. he worries that he's not raising them right. lot's of self doubt.

your children steal his ushanka especially in the winter.

bedtime stories galore, especially the ones from his childhood.

teaches them that rootbeer is real beer and water is vodka. it's a joke but the school your children attend worry for their safety at home.

"ice is just frozen vodka!" and such.

alexsandr senaviev ;

picks up his kids by the legs and swings them around in a circle or throws them over his shoulder and runs.

in the winter, he'll push them into the snow without winter gear on.

gives the biggest and warmest hugs.

he will spend all evening trying to teach his kids math or science, really anything just to help them better understand the content so they can do well on their exams.

nu pogodi every night before bed and will binge it for hours with your children on the weekend nights.

Also Blitz and Tachanka learning about the world of Terra and its parallels to the real world (Leithanien = Germany not quite that simple, pls see comments and the very good info provided by @draconis4s; Ursus = Russia) through the Rhodes Island operators from those countries was a cool touch (but also kinda sad, ha).

Especially Tachanka learning about all the suffering the people of Ursus had to experience 🥲 the mental image of him drinking vodka and vibing with the Ursus student self-government group members lives rent-free in my head.

Can we talk about how Nighthaven's latest operator is a psychopath who scared even the psychologist doing his evaluation?

“There is a coldness to him that makes me wonder what would have occurred had I not met his qualifications” - yup, completely normal stuff going on this job interview, not alarming at all...

As a child he had to defend his mother from an armed assailant, and that I can applaud tbh! But the fact that his agression was so precise and overwhelming that it send the attacker on a coma from which he never recovered, and Grim has no trauma from the incident (he was a child!!) is worrisome.

Then a former commander of his talks about how Grim deployed the soldiers under his command in a “dehumanizing yet effective” way, cause he only sees other people as tools? Boy, the red flags keep piling up!

And of course, Kali is all “yeah he doesn’t have trauma cause he doesn’t give a shit”, cause apparently this is the sort of people she wants in NH... and I’m not surprised at all, since her bio described her as being little better than a criminal overlord, so yep, it fits she’d want to hire psychopaths like Grim.

timur glazkov ; timur definitely likes to unwind the night by reading something. i personally feel like timur would enjoy old russian poetry, steven king, or a magazine collection of different global artworks. anything that doesn't involve too much violence (such as any tom clancy novel). he likes when you cuddle up into his chest while under the covers while he reads. he makes sure he dims the bedside light as low as he can while still being able being able to read his book.

maxim basuda ; in the start of your relationship maxim wouldn't show much physical affection now when he feels more secure and comfortable he turns into a cuddle bear. maxim will always be big spoon. no matter how bad his day was he will never be little spoon. it's too feminine for him. he lays his hand either over your thigh or your chest (squeezes your titty too and chuckles about it.)

shuhrat kessikbayev ; he has a hard time separating memories from you from his ex fiancé, especially into the first few months of your relationship. he tries to differentiate between the past and the present so therefore it might take him a while to warm up to you physically but particularly emotionally. he really likes cuddling. put on a older film from the mid-century and he's all yours. he enjoys being the big spoon but he does enjoy having your body weight and warmth on top of him. will occasionally be little spoon when he's having a difficult day and harsh memories, but not often

alexsandr senaviev ; alex is nine times out of ten the big spoon. if you have titties he will lay his head on your chest and pretend he's falling asleep on actual pillows. when spooning he will wrap his arm around your torso and one hand under your shirt. he doesn't care if you complain if his hand is cold.
