Barty shifted to the side, his heart beating rapidly. He felt shaky and like he might throw up. Clearing his throat he let his eyes jump to where Evan sat next to him casually.
He looked fucking beautiful,like always. His blonde hair was ruffled by the wind, his face slightly flushed. Barty watched with no little amount of affection as Evan closed his eyes and smiled.
"I love you." The words were out of his mouth before the words even formed in his mind.
The leafs around them rustled, the wind pushing against them. Bartys mouth open and closed, his stomach forming a black pit.
Fuck.
"uh.." Evan said awkwardly
"oh-" it felt like the word was punched out of him. Breathless and full of pain.
"yea...no YEA i-i was just- mm I'm going to..."
His limbs felt weird, his whole body felt out of place, his cheeks were warm with embarrassment. He cursed himself out mentally as he scrambled up and ran to the castle with a crumpling face and a breaking heart.
He didn't hear the faint call of his name too busy berating himself, he wiped at his face angrily and forced himself to keep going.

Evan sat at the lake dumbfounded.

He stared at the spot where Barty bolted from, his eyebrows pinched together. His heart thudding against his chest wildly, he pushed his hair out of his face as he tried to process everything that just happened.

This one was suprisingly hard 😅 because I can see too many of the clones fitting this quote, but in different ways. First thought was Rex, then literally all of thr Batch, Cody, Fives. There are just TOO MANY.
So, here's what I ultimately came up with:
It started slowly, in fact, looking back you can’t really pinpoint exactly when it started. It almost feels like it's always been there. Shared smiles, soft and affectionate, playful ribbing and laughing until your sides hurt. Silly dances to make you smile on a bad day, and eyes, intensely beautiful brown eyes, focused solely on you. He smirked and strutted around with such maddening confidence, but you couldn't look away. He could make you blush so easily and you'd made a game out of saying increasingly bold or embarrassing things, seeing what would make him blush first.
He knew your favorite drink at 79s. He knew how you took your caf in the mornings and how to perfect your bodies fit together at night. He knew you better than any other person before him.
Wouldn't he always be there? To kiss you goodnight and whisper a tired gentle good morning. Tousled hair and a cheeky grin, watching you get dressed and you'd shimmy playfully. Or dramatically exclaim he averts his eyes like a good gentleman just to see his flirtatious smirk. He'd chase you around your home until he caught you by your waist, tickling you then kissing you breathless.
Your eyes searched the crowd, seeking his close cut hair, the arubesh tattoo of a 5 on his temple, his bright smile trimmed by that dreadfully handsome gotee. Where are you? There is a cold pit in your stomach, but you push it down, you know Fives. He'd promised.
Hadn't he always been there? Hadn't he been the one to comfort you when you'd lost your parents, just another casualty in this seemingly endless war. It had been him who had commed you late at night before a stressful interview with the worst puns and jokes imaginable. He'd stayed with you until you fell asleep and left messages for when you woke up. He called you Mesh'la and Cyare and you desperately wanted to hear him say that again.
"Rex!" You call, finally getting a view of the blonde clone Captain. You push through the crowd with abandon, "Rex! Where's Fives?" You try and fail to keep the fear and desperation from your voice.
Rex regards you with sympathetic eyes and you frown, "What happened? Where is he?" You plead, eyes burning with held back tears.
"There was an incident-"
"What!? What incident?" "Rex- what happened!?"
"He was shot but I can't talk about-"
"Please, Rex! Tell me he's okay!"
He sighs deeply, his face pulled into a pained grimace. "I can't."
You're breath is struck from your lungs and your legs give way. Tears stream down your face and you gasp for breath, barely feeling hands on your back our shoulder, keeping you from collapsing completely. You hear words, but they have no meaning. Your mind is screaming - FIVES- FIVES! NO NOT FIVES !PLEASE NOT HIM!
He was meant to be here. He was meant to be with you. You simply wished you'd known the time would be so short. You wished you'd held him tighter, kissed him longer, memorized his laugh and the way he smiled. You wished you'd had more time.
