now that ATOS is almost over, would you say it’s been easier or harder overall to write with pre-existing plot beats? like in Recoil you were taking the setting of Avengers and RotTMNT and making your own plot, but here you’ve mostly stuck to ATLA’s canon. i suppose both have pros and cons, but i’m just interested to hear what you think!!!!! ^^
Great question! It's been A LOT harder than I thought it would be. For me, there were times when I couldn't mentally break away from atla canon. I think it's difficult when you're working with a piece of media you really enjoy and respect (atla), so you unconsciously try to justify why certain events need to happen. That mindset can be very limiting creativity-wise. Looking back on early chapters, I could've deviated more from atla events and still had the drill since that was in motion long before season 2.
I had ideas -my could've, would've, should'ves- that I didn't add because I was too married to the avatar canon. Plus, it's easier to justify staying the course when the first few story beats were necessary to get everyone moving in the Earth Kingdom.
Personally, I wish I didn't stick so close to canon in the middle, but you write and you learn.
When it comes to Recoil, my only issue was making sure that the character voices stayed consistent. I'm going to be honest, Recoil was one of those one-in-a-thousand crossovers for me that just worked lol. The plot just fell together so easily for me. The only thing I had to do was make sure the character voices stayed consistent and reel in my crazier ideas (at one point I had Bruce and Mikey go into one of those orb things from battle nexus: New York, where Mikey would spar with Hulk in what was supposed to be a bonding moment for them (ridiculous I know)).

Ring Shout. & Initiations In Hoodoo
Tumblr media
A Ring Shout: is a religious ritual, that was practiced by Africans men and women in the West Indies and the United States.
This is not a part of hoodoo. This is an dance that is still used to this day in some places it is used in church services but not the actual spell work.
The worshipers or practitioners move in a circle while shuffling and stomping their feet and clapping their hands. (Despite the name, shouting is not apart of the ritual).
When men and women moved in a circle, in a counterclockwise direction, shuffling their feet, clapping, singing or praying is used to invoke the spirits of the ancestors and for spirit possession. Like music and instruments like the rattle dance is use to bring forth spirit's.
When shuffling your feet on the floor or ground without removing their feet from the floor creates a form of static electricity from the earth this helps you to connect with the spiritual energy of the earth or "mother earth". By connecting with the earths spiritual energy you are also connecting with the spirit of the creator it's self, because God created the earth; this is called bringing down the spirit. This is done to connect with ancestral spirits.
Preforming the ring shout is similar to African or Haitian spirit possession it's used to become touched or by the Holy Spirit and to communicate with the spirits of your dead ancestors.
Hoodoo Initiations: Yes, there are actually initiations in Hoodoo. In the American South it would depend on the family or community each may have there own initiations. It's not fancy or is it similar to let's say Vodou or Ifa initiations but it's away to connect, like a baptism.
Another is under an apprenticeship of a teacher or if you were born into a family of practitioners. There would be a candles set up a ritual this would be for a people who becomes a apprentice. Then if it's family it might be different. But all said and done it's there are no special requirements to become a Hoodoo root worker.
Sometimes I've seen some mixing West African initiation practices with Christian practices basically learning about your fath and getting in touch with the spirit.
But you must practice as often as your can this helps you connect to the earth God and the spirits.

I love your art what is your thought process when making a drawing theres any artists that inspired you?
Both of these questions are difficult for me to answer, but I'll try!
When it comes to commissions my thought process is dictated a lot by what the client wants. It's always nice to get a client who will play to my strengths or allow me to do so myself, but that doesn't always happen. When I do a picture for myself I always try to have an idea of what I want to do before I start drawing anything. It's very hard for me to find a direction for a picture unless I have one already in mind when I start. As for artists who have inspired me? I don't think there is any one particular artist who has inspired me. I have pieced my style together from all sorts of influences. Maybe that's why it's taken me so long to find what I wanted to do, and why I jump around from style-to-style so much. Another thing is that when I started drawing I wanted to draw comics, and all of my time was spent building those skills. I paid a lot more attention to storytelling and stuff like that, rather than figure drawing or who I thought drew the best robots, or who colored the best, etc.

WHO IS ASHITO AND SHUN'S FATHER?
Answer:
No one knows. But it is not Fukuda. That's for sure.
Until now, (volume 30), the author didn't mentioned him once. Maybe he's not planning on writing him, but knowing Kobayashi sensei, I wouldn't be surprised if he's gonna give us another bomb of an info in the future.
Here are some theories regarding Ashito and Shun's father
Maybe their father is already dead, and the author is not planning on writing him anymore because it's not really important. Afterall, sports series doesn't normally include character's backstories or families.
But we all know Ao Ashi is different. The author cherishes family and cares about character's backstories and family backgrounds especially for the main character Ashito Aoi, and he's not the type to leave something unanswered. So it's intriguing how he's not showing nor mentioning him at all.
Maybe the author has another surprise in his sleeve?
And that results to another theory.
This one is what I really like in all the theory: Ashito and Shun's father is a former football player or an experienced football player.
Noriko, their mother, doesn't know anything about football, nor interested in football. But surprisingly, Shun and Ashito are both very talented and passionate in football since they were young. So maybe they inherited these characteristics from their father. I'm also guessing, Ashito's bird's eye view ability and Shun's left foot is somewhat related to the existence of their father.
But unfortunately, maybe he left when Ashito was born (Shun is 1 year older than Ashito) to pursue his professional career in football. Maybe that's also why Noriko is very hesitant to let Ashito go to Esperion and play professionally because she feel like football is stealing one of her love ones again. She feel like Ashito is going to choose football and forgot about her later on like what their father did.
What we don't know though if their father is alive or not. And we don't know if Noriko and their father is in good terms or not. We don't know if they really broke up, or just lost contact to each other.
But seriously, I want him alive. I want a family reunion. Just imagine Ashito's father being also a very talented football player and showing up... isn't that awesome! I really hope the author wrote it like this.
I'm hoping!
BUT THESE ARE ALL JUST THEORIES
Maybe were just overthinking things. Maybe it's not that complicated. Maybe their father is just a simple man.
We're not sure, nobody knows what's gonna happen in the future. Only the author can decide about that.
But from the fact that Shun and Noriko have come this far in the story, dead or alive, I'm sure that their father's existence is also definitely meaningful.
DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THEM? SO PRECIOUS🥰❤️

From the Neil Gaiman: Dream Dangerously 🥺❤ (you can watch it here in US or with US vpn :) <3) (or just this bit on youtube here :))
Neil Gaiman: I miss him most when I get stuck. You know, I'll just be working on something and I'll go, "Oh, this isn't quite it," and all I want to do is just call Terry, tell him what's going on and have him say, "Ah, grasshopper, the answer is there in the question." And I'd go, "Oh, for fuck's sake, Terry, just tell me."

The Killer
So I was hanging out with some friends last night, and for whatever reason, we got onto the subject of whether or not we sleep with the bedroom door closed. Apparently it's safer in case of fires? But it turns out that most of my friends keep their bedroom door closed because of concerns about The Killer, aka, a person breaking into their house at night with the express intention of murdering them.
For the purposes of this poll, "I share a house/apartment" is for situations where you have your own bedroom, but there are other people living with you; "I share a bedroom" is for situations where there is another person sleeping in the same room.

Hi!
First, I must say your fanfic “A Tale of Spirits” is super neat! I really enjoyed reading it.
Second, since you are open to questions about that story, I do have a question about what Leo said to Azula at the end of their fight; “Zuko’s way better than you.”
It’s typically shown that Azula is more skilled than Zuko with her fighting and fire bending. Even when comparing the two siblings’ fight lengths with Leo, Azula’s lasted a decent amount of time while Zuko’s only lasted a couple minutes (granted he was starving and Leo was mad, while Leo was specifically playing a game of defense with Azula, but still). Knowing these things, I’m curious as to why Leo thought Zuko was better. Is it because he found Zuko’s skill with the swords more impressive? Did he find Zuko’s way of fighting more noble? Did he prefer it over Azula using the avatar’s more vulnerable position against him?
Thank you! I'm glad everyone enjoys the chapter.
So, I've gotten a few questions about why Leo said that to Azula, and here are some of my reasons below:
Short Answer:
Leo is more impressed by Zukos skill with duel swords. I feel like he doesn't get to fight someone who wields swords the way he does that often, so it means a bit more to him.
Not only has he peeped the tension between Zuko and Azula, but he's also caught on a bit to her perfectionism and need to succeed. So he decided to poke the bear. He has siblings, so he knows how to rile them up, and the easiest way is to compare them to the older ones. I'm also a younger sibling and it used to (and still does lol) burn me up when people said my sister was better than me at something that I knew I excelled at lol.
Now, does Leo know the complicated, antagonistic, and damn near murderous history between Azula and Zuko......no 😂 He was just bantering with/insulting an opponent. I GUARANTEE you that for him this was a throw-away insult. Something similar to 'I'm not touching you.' Personally, I love playing with misconceptions like this. Things that mean nothing to one character could possibly mean everything to another.
Alright! Rant over.

Three Questions That I Keep Hearing.
Please take the time read and tell me your thoughts.
Is There Such Thing As Head Work In Hoodoo? No. I've also heard of this so called head working. But it's not a thing in hoodoo. A skull candle don't just work on a person's mind.
Question: I Read There No Blood Sacrifice In Hoodoo? Yes there is. Okay there are online comment that is speaking on this saying probably from spiritual online community saying how Hoodoo isn't strong enough because they don't do any sacrifices.
People can I correct these people and say That's incorrect, because we do sacrifices when its need. It can be use for hex's, healing the body of disease, sending petitions to ancestors.. So people if you know your history especially black Americans then you should know that they did sacrifices right so how can someone believe we still don't do it when it's called for, when most religions even Christianity have sacrifice goats to ansestors. That's like saying Vodou or Palo or Santeria don't do it.
Even see on line some of y'all put your petition paper in a casket / coffin for working like say hex or curse. That can also be use to send messages to ansestors.
But you know some of the older ways to send a petition to ansestors was to make a petition paper burn it to ash put it in the mouth of a goat sacrifice it, That will take it to the spirit world ansestors.. I seen it in the mouth of a pegon.
All I'm saying don't be ignorant to this.
Question: Do Some People Go To Hoodoo For The Wrong Reasons? Yes.. I would say so.. Some do it for Good reasons like starting a botanica or a online shop.. Others do it they may do it because they may think hoodoo is more powerful.
Online you see online all this this pretty shit, the altars, the pretty spell candles with glitter inside or bottles that have to have the wax perfectly dripping down and the authors who write books on hoodoo that is fake. I'll tell ya real magic isn't pretty and if you think this is real hoodoo then you have seen it.
Then some get into this is because they get tired of the church or going to church is one big reason.
After they leave the church and maybe even Christianity they now want to get back to their roots which I think is is Great 😃👍
Now This What I Think Is The Wrong Reasons Some Get Into This. Now after they leave the Christian church they want to get into Ifa because they read all this stuff online about the religion or see celebrities talk on it and they want to become a Babalawo or maybe a Santero... Because they watched a movie like Eves Bayou, Skeleton Key, The Craft or The Believer so now they buy and put on they elekes and want to be a priest or priestess and they get a reading done.
So they pay for a reading with a Babalawo or Santero and they tell them you need to be initiated. Great, there happy now," How much is it going to cost they ask around $200, $300? " No, it's will cost around $15,000. Now reality hit them they get mad and say shit like. " This is a rip off $15,000 they ain't shit. I'm going to to learn Haitian Vodou.
So now you fine you a Mambo or a Houngan get a reading don't for $50 to $100 and they tell you that you might have the gift to become a Houngan or Mambo Asogwe. Again your happy to hear that right.
"How Much Is This Going Cost Me? It'll cost around 12,000 and time in Haiti". "I don't have that kind of money, This is Bull Shit they just trying to take my money making me go to Haiti, This is shit is fake too". So what's next.
I'm going to do Santeria or another Orisha practice. Same thing you get a reading done and ask what it cost. "The average price in the United States is between $8000 - $12 000. More if it's a warrior Orisha and some be up to $20,000. "This Is Bull You Say."
So now what may be a Palero. "That'll be a start of around $2,500 just for a initiation. So now they need to find something cheaper. So you pick Hoodoo, you look online and you find a online course like Lucky Mojo gives and it only cost $200, $300 dollars and you think.
" You mean I can become Pro in Hoodoo after intaking a 2 week course", and reading a few books, (that are badly writing books that nothing to do with real hoodoo). So you take the course and now you get you little certificate and a tarot deck and start calling yourself Papa and Mama and telling people your hoodoo is traditional and you been doing this for 10-15-20+ yrs. Only to promote a new business.
That's sad people. 😢😭
What happens now is when someone ask you for help you do a reading tell them what your going to do they say" WOW 😳 I never heard of that before" well that because I'm it a secret and my Hoodoo is different and you believe it because you can't check to see if this person is legit or not because now one really knows the real outside the real communities.
But if you pretend to be Houngan Asogwe voodoo priest or a Santero, or a Palero, or a Babalawo etc if you lie they'll know. Because if you can answer who your God parent is; or what this is or that means then we know you not a real priest.
All I'm saying is if you get into a practice do it for the right reasons, don't do it because you don't want to spend the money to become a priest and rather take a online course because it's cheaper. That's make the people who do train and practice for years look bad.
