I’m a bbc presenter, a successful one with rows of teeth and bright eyes.

The queen’s been sickly.

I start presenting my show in a banana yellow suit à la the mask. Halfway through filming a loudspeaker announces to the studio that the queen has died.

I stand up morosely, and sombrely rip my yellow trousers off to reveal black ones beneath and remove my jacket, turning it inside out to reveal a reversible black lining. Pulling it back over my shoulders, I sit down again and start gently weeping.
