My priggish Commander Vespera chatting with the infamous Count soon after the siege of Drezen, fully recognizing his oblique speech strategies by now and getting amused by his unsuccessful verbal manoeuvering.

Super late to the party with the fanarts, but I still wanted to finish it since this questline was one of the biggest highlights of my Angel playthrough. I will never run out of praise for how well-crafted character Daeran is and how much his story nails my absolutely favorite tropes and themes.

The Last Portrait of a Crusader

Hanging from the wall is a painted memorial of the famed Caius of Lastwall, an elven crusader whose bravery and sacrifice shaped the First and Second Crusades. During an attempt to take Iz by subterfuge, he and his small group of soldiers were lost in the Worldwound. It’s believed that his mysterious and unexplained disappearance only helped to fan the flames of paranoia that consumed the Third Crusade. Many think that the aasimar’s painted wings used to be white, but his and Iomedae’s displeasure with the Third Crusade caused the paint to be consumed by the same flames with which innocents were burned. Now his wings are charred and blackened as if by fire. The greatest of rumors that circle this portrait is that Caius was the paramour of Queen Galfrey, and that should his mission had been a success, they would have married and united Mendev and Lastwall in their attempts to purge the Worldwound from Golarion. The painting has been nicknamed “the Queen’s lover” among such circles.
