In the continuing guerilla warfare of Tristan vs Containment, the latest addition to our pasture gate is a PVC pipe to shrink the gap between the gate and the post. It's bolted in place with two chain link fence panel clamps, tightened down as far as possible so it won't spin.
The two previous adjustments, the landscape tiles & gravel under the gate and the secure gate latch continue to work well. Tristan simply continues to innovate. It's been at least three months, so the previous configuration had a good long run before Tristan managed to beat it again.

An exciting day for the ladies yesterday. Phase 1 of the shelter renovations is complete! When we moved in, the shelter had a metal roof that was not in great shape, and was super holey and leaked when it rained. It got progressively worse, so we temporarily fixed it with the tarp, but after a year, that too was starting to break down. Luckily the wood supports were still in good condition, so we pulled the metal and replaced the roofing with PVC panels. It looks significantly better than the tarp, plus it's been properly sealed so it should actually be water proof for winter.
Since this is all DIY, we're working on it in phases. Phase one was getting the original part recovered, so at least they have somewhere dry to stand before cold rains hit for the season, while we work on the next parts. Phase 2 is planned to extend out the front by another 8 feet or so, so that it's a little less cramped for them, and putting in a wind block wall to give them protection in storms, not just rain. That will require us (figuring out how to) putting in new supports. Neither my husband nor I are truly handy, nor do we have any family in the area that can help us, so it's gonna involve some research to make sure we're doing it properly so it's safe for the girls and long lasting. Phase 3 is getting the chicken coop also fixed up so that maybe this spring we can get a flock, as well as adding in angled pipes to wind block between the current shelter and that smaller fence.
Bonus weekend project was also getting the barn ready for my winter hay delivery, which is coming today. We reused the tarp from the shelter to line the inside of the barn, because the back wall has quite a few gaps, and even though the tarp has seen better days, it should be solid enough to help with any wind blown rain. Just an extra level to make sure everything stays dry, we lost a few bales last year after a big rain storm and it coming from every which direction, not just down.

Daytime halfway house for the ducks and geese. It's not as secure as their main enclosure but it's a lot more interesting!
They're all enjoying munching on the grasses and dotseed plantains around the tree, which has drip irrigation... they get variety, I get less mowing, the tree gets fertilizer.
The pen is made of four cattle panels (50" x 16') wired together at the corners as hinges; simple wire catches keep the fourth corner closed when it's not open as a gate. The panels are lined with 36" welded wire fence (2"x4"openings) because the ducks can walk right through the cattle panels. Finally there's a 12'x16' tarp (folded to be 6'x16') held onto the panels with lightweight carabiners with a simple pvc pipe supporting the middle. It can all be folded up for "easy" moving (ok it's still going to be 16' long and weigh about 180 pounds but it's possible at least).

This type of PVC resin, produced via suspension polymerization, is known as Suspension Polyvinyl Chloride, playing a predominant role in PVC manufacturing due to its effectiveness and widespread utilization.
