My SunnySideUp design explained

Exhibit A:

This picture was the first time I ever drew Sunny. I was figuring out how rich people/modern princesses look in cartoons basically. Because she's a little kid and she's not gonna know how actual rich people dress. I was also looking at different Sunny fanarts and ultimately fell in love with the idea of her being black/mixed.

Exhibit B:

This is a colored version of the design i decided on. She does not have any "dragon" features here because I was lazy. I'm pretty sure her dress was pink and then I remembered that her color was orange. Note that she still has the clasic glasses here. (ignore them being purple on the left, that's just smth i do in my sketchbook)

Exhibit C:

It's my pinterest board for Sunny. I haven't been drawing for over a month when I made this (health issues) and I rlly wanted to draw Sunny again bcs QSMP being closed was driving me nuts. I actually researched protective hairstyles for this.

Exhibit D:

As you can see her outfit is pretty similar to the first one I decided on. The differences are: Different colors. Her sleeves aren't as poofy so they could be more practical. Glasses are star shaped. (She's a star!) Shoes. I originally drew her with ballet flats but here I gave her sneakers (specifically balenciaga bcs expensive) but ultimately decided to give her boots with butterfly wings. That's an omage to the cosmetic wings she wore on QSMP. (plus being around trains and machines it's more practical to wear boots) And of course the hair. She has mini twists tied into two buns. She has blonde kanekalon weaved into them. Considering coily hair is really dry bleaching is not always a good idea+she's literally a kid. (I know it's fiction, leave me and my brain rot about protective hairstyles and coily hair in general alone.) She also has a toolbelt. She only wears it when she helps her papa around, but it's still stylish and matches her outfit.

Drawing in procreate to try out different color combos. (I liked the left one the best, but still changed it, lol)

Exhibit F:

(I forgot about her tail pls don't point it out) She has cornrows here instead of twists. (I'm gonna be using both of these hairstyle for her) I turned her yellow glasses black to pay respect to her actualy egg form. (the glasses might be compltely different shade but at least they're black) and in the light of that i made her boots black instead of white. And I added diamond earrings bcs she needs to have diamonds in her design.

I really want her to have the vibe she wants to dress like a rich person but she's a kid so she doesn't really have a grasp onto how rich people dress so she resolves to princess, but her dad literally works on trains and other machines so having a big poofy skirt and fur coat and the feather thingy is not practical. So she still manages to dress like a princess while being semi-practical. I think she wore big skirts and feather thingies and white fancy gloves at the beginning, but stopped bcs practicality. And beinfg able to spend time with her pa is more important than looking like a princess. (I might draw that one day but rn my hands are dying.) If you got here I applaud you. This is more text than I have written for my seminar work so far-

TRANSSLUGCAT

[id: The 1st flag is a 8 stripe flag with a plain white slugcat in the middle. From top to bottom the stripes are a red-orange color, yellow, yellow-orange color, red, white curvy line, blue, purple, and green.

The 2nd flag is the exact same as the 1st but is missing the plain white slugcat in the middle. /end id]

Meaning: A flag made for those who believe they are, were, or should be a slugcat from Rain World.

Woo!! My first ever flag, not the best but it's a start. Each stripe is made to represent a slugcat in the game <3 I don't know if someone's ever made this before though. I'm not really sure what would be a good emoji combo for this or if it should have a emoji combo but you guys can always decide and make one up.

Usually I'd say purple but like a lot of things I struggle to decide.

Other stand outs are that dark green has been coming up in stocks lately hehe and a very specific combo of light green and orange is my usual favorite combo :3

(Not the yellow) Because that's the aesthetic I went with over a decade ago in the best rhythm game ever made (rock band 2, you're not allowed to insult my baby boy it was a different time)

Weather would probably be a tie between HEAVY AS HELL RAIN at night or that heavy wind and bright, beginning to gray skies of a coming storm in mid-day. We're talking like "An hour or so from now" but the wind is going from breeze to kicking heavy over that hour- during warmer months at least so I can enjoy the wind :3

Favorite food is no contest at all. Ramen. I fucking, I'm gonna froth at the mouth and start biting over just the thought of it, I fucking love ramen.

Pretty much every ramen above top ramen, because top ramen instant packs just taste like chicken farts and the illusion of beef to me now -.- Used to like them as a kid though!

But all those fancy packaged ramens- FAVORITE, going to a ramen place- LOSING MY MIND, fucking LOVE ramen.

My favorite animal is also no contest, Frogs!

I've loved the little guys since I was a damn near baby :3 From like birth to like 10 years old when I moved away from the promised land of frogs and toads I would go out every night with a flashlight and search for them and catch them and keep them in boxes and the like :3

I... Definitely caused the death of a lot of them because I was a stupid kid and didn't know what I was doing, I'd keep them in a box outside and release them in the morning, but keeping a bunch of toads in a box for a night is a good way to dry out and kill some amphibian babies- I was literally less than 10 it's fine I learned lol

During my late teen years I kept some toads and some, what were they, fire belly frogs? It's been a long time lol, I kept some as a pet for a good handful of years- quite a dang while :3 Loved them.

I haven't had one as a pet in a long while because I want to go all out- I want to make an amphibian vacation spot for the little guys and then get some various (safe to be together) frogs and toads (or just a lot of 1 if I struggle to find 'safe to co-habitat' guys).

Some day, I will again! :3

this leads to more ideas because there's at the very least two scenes you can do.

maybe hints along the way (Pigsy could've sworn that there was a spider demon dressed in red robes on the hill, but then he blinked, and the man was gone.)

OR A GREAT IDEA I THOUGHT OF WHILE THINKING OF THE ASSUMED DEAD THING

tang goes undercover

he hides his identity and pretends to be someone else (maybe like a traveler from another land, maybe a demon who's a librarian, etc idk) he changes some parts of him, maybe growing out his hair, maybe using a different color pallete for his clothes, (he uses red and warm colors right now so maybe blue-green? just more cool colors. or color combos, purple and gray, green and black, yellow and white, etc)

this leads to the gang seeing parts of Tang in, well, Tang but disguised. maybe pigsy sees a bit of tang in the librarian, who knows.

this leads to more ideas because now there's at least five scenes you can add

If you want, you can also make it both. Tang is assumed dead and because he is assumed dead, decides to hide his identity and check up on the gang every once in a while just to make sure they are safe.

If this is the case Tang's spider family could either know Tang is alive, or also think Tang is dead. If they also think Tang is dead, there could be two separate reveals of Tang's identity.

There's many reasons as to why Tang might disguise himself, add on to whatever reason he might have.

What if Tang doesn't know that he's Tang? What if that's why he's undercover?

ALSO WRITE THE STORY, TRUST. THERE WILL BE AT LEAST ONE PERSON WHO READS IT.

Sorry I'm late with the women's FS review, you-know-which dress took me out, and now I'm also reeling from H/B's WD. Why does god hate me? Anyway, redemption fashuns from many this time around.

Young - a decent dress, very pretty skirt, but I'm wishing away the darker shade at the top. If she's already skating to an autumnal theme, if the soft yellow had continued up and they'd just used rust-colored rhinestones, she would've looked like a leaf changing colors and it would've been light and bright, which she needs rn. One of several kinda stereotypical skating dresses here, but what're ya gonna do. I feel really bad for her because we can see the sadness in her eyes and I wish she'd allow herself to take a break. The Korean ladies already look tired and we know why 😡.

Our poor baby Clare. Her presence here is less reflective of her preparedness and more of her coaches' seemingly pathological need to insert themselves into the conversation at any cost, regardless of whether they have anything to say. A mindless Yuna knockoff with matching styling from 10-15 years ago. Truly random stoning on the dress, and don't even get me started on the back. It's like they fed Yuna programs into ChatGPT and this is what it spat out. If we're doing over-the-boot tights, then why not cover the heel as well? Somebody pull this sweet child out of Colorado because she did incredibly well considering the material she was given.

Seoyeong - massive improvement, beautiful colors, great shading, but again - we've seen this exact dress in a million different iterations. Nevertheless, it doesn't offend me because it follows the lines of the body amazingly and it enhances rather than detract. They might wanna work on opening her shoulders a little bit. Exogenesis is officially overdone.

Hana is so cute! She kinda looks like a blend of Riku Miura and Akiko Suzuki, don't you think? The construction of the dress is good, but the appliques and rhinestone shapes seem truly haphazard. I don't know what the deal with the one red glove is, but I would've put it on the other hand. Kinda random combo of music pieces. A bit of a leg wrap they'll want to address but there were some moments of real sensitivity in this, I'm excited to see how she develops.

Omg Nini again. This could've been a spectacular dress, which is why I was in physical pain watching this. The color is fabulous, I love the lacy shoulder straps and neckline, but everything going on between the bust and the knees is a felony. Why is the bodice so narrow? Why are the side cutouts so big and asymmetrical? Wth is that medallion in the middle of her back? Why the chewed-up skirt? Just imagine if the tan gloves were purple lace matching the dress. I'm livid, I'm filing for emergency custody.

Okay, Katya - possibly the best dress she's ever had, but lbr it's a low bar. Nice colors and ombre, but I wouldn't have slit the sleeves and I would've just had them run to a point over her hands for extra flowiness and sense of extension, since she's itty-bitty. The V in the back and front is well-placed and the flowers I didn't mind since the front needed something, but they're a bit outdated. Not a fan of the opening signature Russian miming, but they're clearly working with her to mature her, it'll just take time. And can we please retire the arms above the head in the jumps? Btw, didn't Brian get a hip replacement, like, yesterday? I didn't expect to see him here at all. I see his tie is from the same fabric as Ilia's FS shirt and for that, he's canceled.

This will again be in two parts out of consideration for those who will have to scroll past my ramblings.

when i was like, twelve or thirteen?? my friends and i all kinda figured it out around the same time together so it was a very like, "hmmm i think i like Women" "oh me too" "yeah i think i'm like. Gay" casual thing (at least, it was to me)

well im still fucking emo LMAO. uhhh but literally now i cut my own hair and have bangs and bleach it and dye it in ways i never got to. i'd say i'm more comfortable now?? idk my style hasn't changed hugely bc i've always been a "hoodies and skinny jeans" person, but i'm def more comfortable in Formal Clothes now, like button-ups and dresses. also 13yo me would never be caught dead in shorts above the knee but here i am, somehow less Girl yet more Comfortable With Femininity ??

idk i was going to a private lutheran school and also didn't have a lot of freedom in general with my style so obviously things have changed since i've become an adult and the inherent difference in appearance that one takes over the course of a decade and adolescence. this answer is probs v different for people who realized later in life which is fair but like. my queerness has always been an aspect of my identity ever since i was at the age where i was FORMING an identity, so it wasn't like a huge game-changer for me, it just helped explain who i was better.

🦚 - Are there any queer books/shows/etc. that you would suggest?

for the anime gang, Given is a big one, as well as Sasaki To (And?) Miyano (sometimes i see the title as "sasaki to miyano" and sometimes "sasaki and miyano," idk) - both are mlm high school romances and they're SO GOOD.

the owl house is a huge one for me. our flag means death. what we do in the shadows.

technically the six of crows duology isn't like, A Queer Book (Duology) but there are explicitly queer characters and who DOESN'T love a good heist??

YES THE BISEXUAL FLAG IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT <333 blue/purple/pink is THEEE best color combo, sorry not sorry <333 there are def other pretty flags (aro and ace flags each are fantastic, love the black/gray/white with a pop of color in them sm) but i love the bisexual flag so much. i absolutely wear it frequently. i have multiple tie-dyed clothing items that are this color scheme. i love wearing it, i love dyeing my hair this combination of colors, etc etc.

the genderqueer flag is fine enough but idk i'm not a huuuuge fan of the green/white/purple (esp also now that TERFs on twitter use it to identify each other?? bc those are also the suffragette colors. suffragettes: cool. TERFs: uncool. genderqueerness: banger)

the nonbinary flag hits the aro + ace "black/white/[color]" sweet spot but at the same time it feels like the yellow and purple are from different palettes..... there's a post abt it floating around somewhere that i big agree with......... hmmm

the aromantic flag is banger as previously stated, we love to see it

Winx Club as Specialists

So, as some of you may know, I'm planning to do the girls in their Bloomix forms (With some creative liberties), but I'm calling it Draconix. But before I post those, I want to have how each of them earns their Draconix figured out, which I'm not finished with yet. Anyway, the girls have lost their powers, due to the newly freed Ancestral Witches using the Whisperian Crystals to take their magic. Only Bloom has a small spark of magic left in her because of The Dragon Flame. However, it's still weak and it's as useless as that puny blast of magic dust she tried to attack The Trix with when she first met them in episode 2 of season 1. But she can divide that small spark of hers amongst her friends and each of them will gain Draconix through brave and noble actions (And I mean REAL ones, not the nonsense from the actual show).

Anyway, because the girls are all powerless, they need to have an alternative that allows them to be able to fight. So Saladin gives the girls some Specialist bracelets/morphers that will allow them to wear their own Specialist outfit and be able to fight (With some training, of course). The outfits are all individualized and the girls (Except for Tecna) will all have their hair in ponytails when they are transformed into their outfits.

Bloom

For Bloom, I went for a combo of the motorcycle outfit she had in the finale of season 1 when she's powerless and Diaspro's season 5 outfit. It had very much a dragon vibe to it and I love how it turned out. For her hair, I used her hairstyle from her Onyrix look, only with some creative liberties. I really love the way she turned out and I just adore her in red and yellow.

Stella

With Stella's outfit, I took inspiration from the spy outfits from World of Winx, specifically the one where they wear long jackets. I also used Musa's ponytail from her date outfit in season 4 and Stella's bangs from season 5. I really LOVE how she turned out. She looks like a warrior but also fabulous. Perfect for Stella. For her transformation background, I decided to have it be purple because of how her original transformation background felt too similar to Bloom's (Despite being different shades of blue) and I feel like it helps to represent her space powers.

Flora

For Flora's outfit, I took inspiration from the adventure outfits the girls got in season 5. It felt very nature-like to me. I did take liberties, of course, to help it look more like an actually warrior's outfit (Any warrior who would wear pink into battle is the toughest person EVER and y'all know it). For her hair, I used the hairstyle she had for her Onyrix look. I really love how she turned out.

Aisha

YES, I'm starting to call her Aisha instead of Layla now. I really love the way she turned out and think that the turquoise blue and the pink look amazing on her. I took inspiration from the adventure outfits the girls had in Secret of the Lost Kingdom, though I did NOT include those weird shields they had on their breasts. I tried to do that but it just looked really weird. For her hairstyle, I used her Onyrix hairstyle. For her background, I gave her pink because of her morphix power and because the color she had before was just Bloom's background.

Musa

Musa's was a lot of fun to do with the purples and reds. Plus, I really love her hair and how it has a clear Asian influence, which suits her, since she's East Asian coded. I took inspiration from her space outfit from season 8 because it really had a dancer vibe to it that was perfect for Musa's specialist outfit. I made her background gold because the original purple would've clashed with her outfit, same if I made it red. Plus, gold is an important color in Asian culture.

Tecna

Lets be honest, Tecna has the BEST Specialist look. It was hard to figure out her hairstyle because she has short hair, but I ended up deciding to have it tied up into a bun of sorts. I based her outfit on the videogame outfit she has in season 2, only with more color to it. I made the armor lavender purple as a call back to her original color from the show. Plus, it helps the outfit pop more along with the green lights that move around under her armor, giving her a sci-fi technology feel. Perfect for Tecna! I went with this background because it felt more technology-like and I already had yellow for Musa's background.

Have you ever met someone new and you don’t know anything about them, but you still want to introduce yourself without making yourself look like a deer in headlights? This podcast is perfect for you without wasting your time by getting straight to the point. So, let’s begin, shall we?

To make the perfect introduction, you must fit the setting you are in. You want to make sure your clothing is appropriate for the setting. For example, you are at a party, and the theme is Halloween. You can’t be too basic or too extreme. The best way to fix this problem is to wear clothes you are most comfortable in and that reflect your personality the best. Clothing has the biggest impact on the people you see every day.

The color of clothing affects people's emotions. Red is seen as sexy and angry. While green is known as peace and greed, Let’s say that this random stranger is wearing a red shirt, and their expression is brighter than the sun outside. People can assume many things about this person based on the color of their clothing. They can assume that they are prideful. While others think that they are too loud, disturbing the peace of the public outside, Colors like red, orange, and yellow are bright and represent a large amount of energy. While blues, greens, and purples are soothing and calming for relaxation, If you like the color pink, you might actually be a very excited person ready to have some fun at parties or just want to have fun in general.

You want to match with everyone and don’t want to look like a clown. In the party, instead of being that one person that everyone wants to be, But they can’t because no one beats the original. Let’s say you are going somewhere. This place has the biggest impact on your life, and you look like a failed lab experiment from 1887 created by a 1-year-old child walking around like a stray animal in the tropical rainforest. Your clothes look like those of a 2nd grade child in art class. People will talk the worst of you, and they always start with your outfit. Society will always adore those who wear expensive jackets like leather, denim, trenches, puffers, etc.; hoodies like sleeveless, cropped, oversized, etc.; shirts like crop tops, V-necks, tank tops, sleeveless, turtlenecks, long sleeves, short sleeves, etc. Pants like jeans, leather pants, shorts, leggings, skinny, etc. Shoes like boots, heels, sneakers, etc. Jewelry like necklaces, rings, earrings, pearls, chains, etc. Society falls in love with those who love to spend money and spoils them hard.

But, back on topic on colors of outfits. I got a couple of good color combinations. You got to believe me on this and let the colors do their thing. Jamming with creamy honey peanut butter with a side of dill pickles. What do you think? Oh. Oh! Isn’t that a weird snack combo that I enjoy? Does anyone find eating eggplant with waffles covered in maple syrup wonderful? It’s just me, right? Y-yeah, it’s just me. Permit's pass decreases once more to the difficulty all yet again.

Back to where we last left off before I begin rambling about my interesting choice of food. One, two, three. Red talks with the green, sitting on a grassy hill while the sun rises. Red-Orange goes on a date with Blue-Green every day at a fancy restaurant. Orange relaxes with blue on a sunny day at the beach. Yellow Orange goes donating and does community service with Blue Violet. Violet dances with yellow in the forest while the stars above them shine brightly. Red violet parties with yellow-green, with the loud music blasting and spreading positivity about the world.

Any color is good with each other if they work together as a team. The designs of the clothing have to give each other compliments. The outfit has to be clean and free of winkles. If someone spots a stain on your attire, they will take note of that stain, bark about it, use it as blackmail, or, the most common of them all, talk behind your back to others. There are people out in the wild that are barking at those who don't fit their standards; they pick on those who are not beautiful in their eyes. Society favotize those who are beautiful in their eyes. They don’t care if that person's IQ is low. All they care about is those who are willing to obey their demands.

Don’t let those mirror-obsessed pick me—pick one, pick two—but pick me instead and bring you down. Never ever let society bring you down and force you to be someone you are not because they don’t see you as beautiful in their eyes. All bodies are beautiful, and that is not what society understands. Everyone's bodies are beautiful, and no one is perfect. No man or woman is born perfect. No one is raised perfectly. No one lives perfectly. No one is perfect.

Everyone has to face the truth about the world. How are we, as a world, expected to adapt and live peacefully? If there are people out there who can’t accept the fact that there are people with different body shapes, hair styles, hair colors, eye shapes, nose shapes, lip shapes, ear shapes, face shapes, skin colors, beliefs, opinions, personality traits, raison d'être, IQ levels that are low or high, nationality, tone of voice, how they speak, age, etc. They will find a way to hate on someone for the smallest things alive. The world will be a better place if all criminals get executed with hard-core proof of why they deserve to be executed. It's giving those who the criminal did wrong solace that Mumpsimus will never hurt another soul and suffer death. Violence is what causes the world to face our backs to one another. All of us are blinded by red and let anger control us like puppets, controlling our actions and making us think, “If I beat up this person, they will like me. I’ll be respected, and people will love me.”.

No, just no. Respect is earned because of hard work, not because of your status.Everybody is a human being. Why are we fighting against our own kind? What will it take for you people if you guys can’t live with each other? All of you are blinded by red, anger, orange, superficiality, yellow, betrayal, green, envy, blue, sadness, purple,pomposity, and pink, nativity.

Your colors are so vibrant sometimes it feels like I can step into another world just by looking at your art... I'd love to be able to make other people feel like that one day. Do you have any advice for an artist who's just starting out?

!!!!! this is genuinely the highest compliment we've ever received on our art, thank you so much!!!

as for advice, i'm not sure we have much that would be useful! we're primarily self taught, so most everything we know is just from trial and error! i'll put a few tips we usually rotate in our head when drawing under a cut in case it helps anyone out! it's pretty wordy and text heavy, so if you want something more condensed, just say so!!

specifically regarding colors, overlay layers are your best friend. try to make the colors match the mood of the piece! if it's more happy red/orange tones are great. sad: blue or purple tones! romantic/homey/etc we do a combo of magenta/pink and orange. we try to keep away from cyan, yellow, and green overlays, but that's just a personal taste thing! test it out and put more than one on! we usually default to red, orange, and purple for most drawings

further about colors, keeping a color wheel on hand is good. we definitely don't have complimentary colors memorized, but being able to understand basic color wheel info-graphics can help! it also helps with associating colors together (see: our ocs for kapteyn usually have some sort of relation within their color schemes to their friends, if that makes sense?)

onto more general advice for drawing: references are a god send. use them for every drawing. take your own reference photos. make your friends pose for you. take pictures of stuff you see outside and draw it later. draw from life it seriously helps. its annoying as hell to hear art profs tell you that still life is important but really it is. being able to physically see how something takes up space is different from seeing it in a photo (NOTE: always share your reference if 1] you didn't create it yourself and 2] you heavily referenced it. i personally think its okay if you only glanced at a reference on occasion, but people have different morals regarding it :P)

genuinely, trace art. if there's a style you like, trace it. if there's a coloring style you like, color pick. just DO NOT POST THOSE DRAWINGS. those are purely studies, something for yourself to look back on. never claim someone else's style as your own, but being able to know how to trace will get your mind and your hand working in a way you'll want it to later on. ideally get permission from an artist if you're going to do this, but i think if you're not sharing it amongst anyone, including your friends, it's fine.

even if you want a cartoony/anime/etc style, you'll want to try realism too. we don't like this fact. we ignore this fact. unfortunately, though, learning realism has helped our art improve. knowing where something is placed on a body will make it easier for you to stylize it. if you want to draw cartoon chickens, you'll need to know how a real chicken is laid (haha) out.

onto less art things and more... getting people to think your art has other-worldly feelings to them... i really don't know how to advise you. we struggle with this a lot, and still constantly feel as though we haven't reached this. get friends who support you and encourage you to keep creating. but you can't really... anticipate anyone outside of your immediate circle even tolerating your art. it's hard to gain any sort of following, so just try to focus on how your art makes you feel.

okie, so some tips!

so, the chats that pop up usually don’t really pertain to the main story anyway & are just for fun most of the time. I believe most chats are time-based, so you likely won’t be getting chats that are past your current place in the main story unless a certain amount of time has past! so, you can read them no problem most of the time since they’re mostly just for fun fillers and such!

in terms of winning dance battles in order to get to the next main story part, your cards are EXTREMELY important!

you can acquire cards from gacha pulls in Nightmare (as you likely already know) and also by combining card pieces that you obtain from “pop quizzes” which are essentially special events that are available for a certain timeframe.

(If you haven’t noticed, parts of the story & dance battles are called “lessons” & events are called “pop quizzes” since it’s supposed to be that we are attending RAD and doing schoolwork there.)

From highest level to lowest in terms of card rarity (ie. power potential) is UR+/UR, SSR, SR, R, & then N (anything below SSR doesn’t matter in terms of using for dance battles BUT some of them have wallpapers, outfits, & chats that you can unlock in “Devil Tree” which I will get to later!

Basically, you should prioritize leveling up your highest power potential cards first! I recommend having a strong enough card in each sin category since each dance battle varies in what sin they focus on (which you can see in the top right corner of each dance battle panel), which is Red: Gluttony, Blue: Pride, Yellow: Greed, Green: Wrath, Pink: Lust, Orange: Envy, & Purple: Sloth. It also helps to have two strong cards for each sin but with different characters on them since then they both can be used in the dance battle that wants that sin, but that’s more for when you already have strong cards & have the time to level up more. It also may help leveling up your cards with the best special skills! Any special skill that bans the opponent’s skills are extremely helpful, but honestly just having high level cards is the most important.

In order to continuously keep leveling your cards, you will need to unlock places in Devil Tree that you do so by using Grimm (easy obtainable through clearing lessons you’ve already obtained 2 or 3 stars on by clicking the Clear x5 button, though note that this uses AP, or through “:D Jobs”) and also items used to strengthen cards (they vary, but are usually obtainable through specific lessons that give those specific items or during Levi’s Otaku Boot Camp that comes around every once & a while to help with getting these items. it will tell you if you have the correct amount to unlock spaces in Devil Tree & if you don’t then it will show you specific lessons that give you those items).

Memory cards are also really important (but your main cards should be your priority nonetheless). You can obtain memory cards through “Chapter M” in “Nightmare” and they essentially work the same as cards.

There are also items called “glow sticks” that help you win dance battles that you buy from “Akuzon” with Devil Points. They’re extremely helpful, especially once you hit about lesson 30. I, personally, always only buy rainbow ones since they strengthen your cards much more than the other colors and pertain to everyone, even though they cost more it’s worth it in terms of strengthening.

During dance battles, you’ll see bars under your characters (on the ride side) that pertain to when their special attacks are ready. I recommend clicking them as soon as they are ready, so there is more time for the bar to regenerate & for them to be able to use their special attacks again.

so, yeah! that should be the basics & what is the overall priority of obey me! I hope it helped & promise you’ll get the hang of it lickety-split!

here are some actual “tip-tips” that are really helpful to know: (these are actually really helpful)

you are essentially given a free 18 devil points EVERY DAY by completing 7 of your daily to-dos, which are very easy to complete! I recommend doing it everyday bc it really adds up! (the daily to-dos refresh at 11 pm)

If you’re struggling with not having enough AP, then there is a deal that saves Devil Points that available once daily. Once depleting your AP to below 10 I believe, they will offer you 600 AP & some Grimm for only about 10 Devil Points. TAKE IT! It’s a wayyy better deal than manually buying AP with Devil Points.

Similar to the last tip, you can save money on rainbow glow sticks once every day. Simply lose a dance battle (making sure you have at least 20 Devil points) and they will offer a deal for 5 rainbow glow sticks, some Grimm, & some AP all for just 20 Devil points! mind you, one rainbow glow stick from Akuzon is 6 Devil points so do the math.

You’re smiley face character doesn’t ALWAYS dictate if you’re going to win the dance battle or not. The smiley face can be blue & crying & you can still win as long as you look at your opponents’ special skills & your total strength is only a few thousand points below that of the opponents. I recommend your smiley face character to be smiley when the opponents have any stun, paralyze, or confusion special skill that keeps your characters from being able to use their special attack. You can gauge how many glow sticks or leveling up you need by just going into the dance battle with either nothing or a few non-rainbow glow sticks equipped & seeing how far away you are from the line/the opponents special attack pattern.

Since the opponents’ special attacks pattern usually changes with every attempt at a dance battle, some of their patterns may be more advantageous to you than the others. If you have rainbow glow sticks equipped & believe you can win by trying again, simply close out of the game completely and reopen it. It will ask if you want to resume where you left off which you will click “resume” to & then it will restart the battle with your glow sticks still intact. This had saved me so many times. ESPECIALLY LESSON 4O’s BOSS BATTLE LEGIT JUST KEEP DOING IT OVER & OVER & YOULL EVENTUALLY GET IT!!

In terms of the fun customization part of Obey Me like the profile pics, Majolish outfits & wallpapers, special chats, etc. I found it extremely helpful to just go through Majolish & click on the item you want. It will tell you the card you can get it from & whether you have it or not!

Oh, & choosing the characters with sparkles around them for :D Jobs gives more of a chance of special drops!

Make sure to make a obey me save password for if you ever delete the app/get a new phone! They also reward you with 30 Devil Points if you do so, so there’s rly no point not to.

For surprise guest combos, you either memorize them or find them on google. But I can give you the main ones here off the top of my head:

Any of the brothers if they ask for a high-five EXCEPT FOR LUCIFER, SATAN, & BEEL: high-five, Head-rub, Head-rub

If Lucifer or Satan ask for a high-five: high-five, YOUR right/THEIR left shoulder TAP, hand tap (they usually have it on top of their chest)

If Beel asks for a high-five: high-five, chest-rub, chest-rub

Mammon if he says “muahahaha”: Head-rub, YOUR right/HIS LEFT arm rub, face-rub

Lucifer if you get 3 stars but he doesn’t ask for a high-five: lip-rub, Head-tap, Hand-tap

Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior Arceus?

Arceus!!!! The Original One!

Arceus is a pretty big deal. According to legends – or at least the legends of Sinnoh – Arceus is responsible for the creation of the entire pokemon world, and potentially the entire universe. Mythology was a heavy theme of the Sinnoh games, as was the continual conceptual power creep of Legendary pokemon. The version mascots of Diamond and Pearl – Dialga and Palkia – respectively represent time and space with reality-warping powers to match. Arceus, in turn, is essentially the ultimate culmination of this power creep – an almighty creator god hatched in a void before the universe existed. Again, just according to legend.

That said, the only creation-y thing Arceus was ever shown to do was manifest an egg containing Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina in HGSS as part of a special event. This is probably the means it created the universe with – it just made Dialga and Palkia then they did all the actual creative stuff. This event was also accompanied by a very surreal cutscene featuring real-life photographs of space, landscapes, cities, and even blood cells, along with some arcane symbols. Frankly the sheer insanity of this cutscene is probably the strongest argument for Arceus being a legitimate godlike being. There has never been anything quite as jarringly strange in this franchise before or since.

Another question Arceus raises is how many are there, exactly? Legendary and Mythical pokemon are both established as incredibly rare, but not even the human-modified Mewtwo and Genesect are treated as truly one-of-a-kind. As such, I highly doubt Arceus has just one sole member of its species. The dex entries make reference to how it shaped the universe with its “1,000 arms”, which is obviously a peculiar statement given Arceus has no visible arms at all. My theory is that the term “arm” is being used metaphorically here – the universe was actually created by 1,000 different individual Arceus. Assuming it did create the universe, I mean. And of course, that might not be an exact number.

Anyway, as a Mythical pokemon, Arceus historically isn’t available through normal means, instead being distributed through special real-world events. Notably, it was one of several Mythical and Legendary pokemon of the era intended to be obtained through capture, with Arceus spawning in a special location atop Mt. Coronet known as the Hall of Origin. The Hall of Origin would be accessed using the Azure Flute (or Heaven Flute, in Japan) – an item distributed by the associated event. Unfortunately, though, the Azure Flute event never actually materialized, apparently because Game Freak believed it would be “too confusing” for players to use. Instead, Arceus was just given to the player directly without any special fanfare, and this became the norm for almost all Mythical pokemon thereafter. Still, the Azure Flute and Hall of Origin maintained a certain mystique, especially due to their lack of official use.

To represent Arceus’s omnipotent nature, it has an ability known as Multitype. Multitype allows Arceus to change its type based on what elemental Plate it holds, with one Plate for every type besides Normal (Arceus’s default type). The Plates bear engravings describing their legend, each supposedly being a shard of the universe left over from its creation. Each different type yields a slightly different appearance, usually changing the yellow components of Arceus’s design and sometimes the gray parts as well, generally corresponding to the main thematic color of each type. Dragon is a notable exception, as rather than using the usual color of indigo, Dragon Arceus uses a dark green and purple. Arceus also bears a signature move known as Judgement, which changes its type to match Arceus’s current form.

While the other forms are sometimes more aesthetically interesting, it’s the Normal-type Arceus that really best-captures the intended vibes of the pokemon. The yellow and white combo gives off a certain “holy” appearance. Paired with the moves “Judgement” and “Punishment”, Arceus seems to particularly allude to Abrahamic conceptions of God, though thankfully it does so in a decidedly unique way. Although the basic silhouette of Arceus is a rather “normal” animal, perhaps most resembling an alpaca, but its specific features remarkably uncanny. Its legs end in footless points, its stomach is oddly engorged, and its body is covered in peculiar points and knobs. Its face is also wholly unnatural, with no clearly defined features beyond its colorful eyes and green circles below them that almost evoke another pair of eyes. The ring around its body seems intended to represent a halo, but does so in a way I’ve never seen on anything else. Arceus definitely feels “godly”, whether it’s truly a god or not.

Appropriate for a god, Arceus has a history of breaking some established conventions of the TCG as well. Its original appearance in the eponymous Arceus set had an Arceus card corresponding to every type in the TCG, with a special Arceus-specific ruling that you can have as many Arceus cards in your deck as you want, rather than being limited to four. These cards weren’t actually that great, though. It wasn’t til relatively recently that Arceus got a card truly appropriate for a deity: a Tag Team card alongside Dialga and Palkia. Their GX attack, Altered Creation GX, allows them to do more damage to your opponent for the rest of the game in addition to taking an additional prize card for every pokemon you knock out. This is anunprecedented degree of power, and the ADP archetype has become a format-shaping force.

Arceus’s shiny is kinda mediocre. It replaces the white with a creamy yellow, clashing horribly with the yellow accents of its Normal form and generally being kinda hit-or-miss with the other forms. Shown here is the shiny variant of Arceus’s Fairy form, which I chose to showcase because the Fairy form isn’t shown above and because it’s probably my favorite of the bunch. It actually looks pretty alright with the yellow body, thankfully.

Overall, Arceus really isn’t my personal style, but I don’t dislike it. I don’t think the franchise really needed an all-powerful creator god, but I do think Arceus is a pretty cool one. Hopefully Legends: Arceus does something cool with it.

Day 12: Extra Credit.

Wait, what it that noise? Oh look, it's canon falling off the rails, whoops!

Kaito's extra bits of the Echo is fantasy synesthesia, with a dash of empathy. When someone talks or makes noise he sees that as colors that best represent their soul. Much less intense is the flavors he tastes that he asociates with each person he meets and change sligthly with strong feelings.

Prompt: Adversary.

n. one that contends with, opposes, or resists: an enemy or opponent.

He isn’t sure what he's seeing and tasting at first, in those first weeks after being dropped off in Limsa Lominsa by Hana, who was deep blue and pink with bursts of yellow and whose words tasted like that green tea from her homeland. He still remembers the bitter tang her parting words left in his tongue, the same he tasted each and every time she checked on him while pretending she was doing other, more important, things and he was a pit-stop.

Hana had been terribly confusing.

It takes him a while to figure out the basics beyond see and taste words and sounds. He realizes that people are palettes and no two persons have the same color combination or hue, it is as good as having a personal ID on everyone he meets. He doesn't figure out the taste for the longest time, not until Ifrit, when those tempered went… wrong. Their colors smothered under the same hue as the primal and all their individual flavors taking on the same sweet/rotten tang. It had been incredibly disturbing and disconcerting at the time, but be had put together a theory afterwards.

Even so, he hadn't realized this strange ability of his was anything to write home about. So he can see sounds, what of it? It's not very useful, now is it? In identifying those tempered, sure, but unless someone pulls a switcheroo, why would it matter?

'Why indeed', he thinks wryly as he enters the Solar in the Walking Sands and stops dead in his tracks, eyes immediately zeroing on the anomaly in their midst.

“My friend, welcome…” Minfilia greets him with her customary warm smile, which falters when she sees his expression. “Is aught amiss?”

“Yes, yes there is,” Kaito says calmly, far more calm than he feels. He prowls forwards, eyes fixed unerringly on Thancred, who raises an eyebrow in a wordless question. “Let’s start easy with the easy question. Who the fuck are you?”

Around this strange stand-off the other scions, already worried at his uncharacteristically hostile actions, all tense in alarm. They are uncertain and he can't really blame them. Fond of him as they are, Thancred has been one of them for much, much longer. However, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear to him, they trust him a lot more than he would have dared believe, newcomer that he is. It’s for this reason that they don’t immediately jump on him, choosing instead a watch and see approach.

For his part, Thancred's eyes widen at the accusation, the shock in his expression completely genuine. He has caught the interloper by surprise it seems, but instead of the worry and alarm that Kaito would expect Thancred to betray in the face of an accusation such as this, all he sees behind the façade is an icy cold and shrewd intelligence that is now entirely focused on him. He can practically feel those eyes dissecting him and rapidly reassessing the situation. It’s unnerving on the extreme.

Not that the real Thancred isn’t smart and sharp as a tack, he's definitely one of the smartest people Kaito knows, and he can be ruthless, certainly, but Thancred isn’t cold like this. If the minute shuffling and the taste of stale dark chocolate on his tongue is anything to go by, then Y'shtola has also noticed the discrepancy.

“Now, why would you think that?” ‘Thancred’ asks with a worried air about him and a shake of his head. “Did you perchance have some peculiar encounter on your travels? I wouldn’t put it past our robed foes to concoct something while you were on your own.”

The words confirm it. Like will-o'-wisps, they paint the air around 'Thancred' with colors… a fiery red crossed with bright orange and stabbed everywhere with a deep virulent purple. It is utterly unlike the warm pink, orange and soft yellow threaded with cool blue that Kaito has come to associate with Thancred, either a sunrise or a sunset, constant all the same. Everything about the stranger's colors is more, somehow, deeper and richer. Saturated to the point of provoking a headache.

As the wisps fade away, they leave behind a strong aftertaste of burnt sugar. Kaito clicks his tongue, as if that would serve to dislodge the sensation.

This… ability or whatever, it isn’t something Kaito has thought too deeply about, not when other matters had been so pressing at the time. He should have given the matter more consideration. At the very least he should have given his allies a heads up, because he probably is coming off as addled if not deranged to everyone minus the imposter who is probably laughing at him.

"Aye, but unlike Thancred I was never on my own, was I? I was surrounded by people all the time and then I hitched a ride with the aetherytes in between. Unless you're suggesting our foes can pluck people from the aether currents, then I don’t see how I could've had a tête-à-tête with them." He glares at the other man who has the gall to look disturbed. Everyone else is still on edge and Kaito knows, knows, they’ll run out of patience soon. He can only hope the intruder is as short-sighted as the other robed fool they met. "The difference is like day and night; you look nothing like Thancred."

Finally, for some reason, it is this what makes the stranger drop the charade. His alert but not-quite-tense posture changes and the bewildered air around him immediately morphs into one of utter menace. It's like seeing a housecat shed its skin and turn into a chimera while sitting on your lap.

The scions, who had remained guarded but made no move for or against the proceedings, immediately ready their weapons, the sounds exploding in a rainbow of colors that is strangely calming in their familiarity. It's Urianger, ever watchful and cautious Urianger, that gently tugs a shocked and vulnerable Minfilia closer to him, a topaz carbuncle bursting into existence in front of them both at his silent command.

Kaito's axe, always close at hand, is now drawn and pointed at the enemy wearing a friend's face.

“Well, well, well, color me impressed.” This time the wisps don’t just float around, they practically lash out, glowing so violently that for a moment Kaito is afraid they will gain tangibility and wreck everything. He gags as the taste of burnt sugar turns into sweet charcoal. “That one of you broken creatures could have such an unusual Echo in this pitiful age. Hydaelyn’s chosen, no less!” With liquid grace, not-Thancred stalks closer until his chest is touching Kaito’s axe, seemingly unconcerned about the threat. “Tell me, adventurer, do you really think you can stop me?”

Kaito grits his teeth against the sensory overload and the headache that pounds away inside his skull, a retort full of bravado already on his tongue. Before he can answer, however, a fireball whizzes past his ear, forcing not-Thancred to retreat.

“It’s not just him you have to contend with, fiend,” Papalimo warns, coffee cookies washing away the rage and death that choked him before. Aether gathers and swirls around the thaumaturge as he prepares another spell. A spell that never comes as Yda takes the opening her partner gave her and uses it to land an impressive combo full of punches and kicks that would have broken bones on any normal man.

Unfortunately, whoever this impostor is, normal he is not.

Disappearing and then reappearing closer to the door, he looks at each of the scions until his gaze zeroes once more on Kaito.

“So it seems,” he acknowledges with a bored air that is simply galling and has all of them bristling without meaning to. “Enjoy your futile resistance while you can then.”

“Wait!” Minfilia cries out from behind the protection the combatants provided. She’s pale and her knuckles are white from clutching the edge of her desk. “Is Thancred… What did you do to him?!”

Not-Thancred smirks. It’s an expression that has always been at home in Thancred’s face, fond and mischievous and always a bit flirty, but right now is full of malice. “Who knows.”

And then he is gone.
