馃巼resolutions are great, but change doesn't happen overnight! nobody's perfect, and it's important to celebrate our progress (it's part of the journey!)

Don't let perfectionism hold you back from making progress towards your goals. Take a deep breath, start with small tasks, and let the feeling of accomplishment motivate you. Use to-do lists to stay on track and celebrate each completed task. Remember, progress doesn't have to be perfect. Just take that first step and keep going.

Look at you. Out here. Making it. Figuring things out as you go. Pushing through fear. Pushing through anxiety. Learning from your mistakes. It's not easy. It's not always fun. It doesn't always feel like you're making progress. But you are. Slowly but surely, you are.

馃専 Progress Over Perfection 馃専
Do you ever feel like you're held back by your own perfectionism? Trust me, you're not alone! But here's the thing - small progress is still progress. And sometimes, all it takes is a little nudge to get started on pursuing your goals.
So, let this be your sign. Take a deep breath, open up your textbook or learning material, and dive right in. Start with the smallest tasks first, and let the feeling of accomplishment motivate you to keep going. With each small step, you'll gain confidence and momentum to tackle the bigger workloads ahead.
Another great tip is to use to-do lists to keep track of your tasks. There's something so satisfying about that little "bing!" sound that happens when you check off a completed task in apps like Microsoft To-Do. Plus, having a clear list of what you need to accomplish can help you stay focused and on track.
Remember, progress doesn't have to be perfect. Sometimes, the most important thing is just getting started. So go ahead and take that first step - you've got this!

Sometimes the best goal you can set is just to get out of bed every day. If you can succeed at this, then other things become possible.

Time to finish another challenge. Giza!
One thing that I have been learning this year and a half is CONSISTENCY.
Have a daily habit that is part of your every day life.
For my, the virtual challenges have been a great way to track my progress and stay more consistent.
Another thing is: Fuck perfection.
Perfection stops people from getting shit done.
If you feel like the perfect workout is 60 minutes and you never have a 60 minute block of time, you workout will never get done.
Start where you are. It doesn't have to be "good" to get a benefit. It just has to be done.
Real progress has come from having a really low bar. 20 minutes a day on the elliptical. Then it become 2.2 miles. Then it was maybe I can do 25 today. Some days it is longer. Some days I stick to the 20 minutes and call it good. Over time, the resistance has gotten higher. I work backwards and forwards in different amounts depending on what I am feeling.
But you know what? It gets done.
PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION.

task-related anxiety
i deal with this a lot, especially when it comes to studying. i tend to get overwhelmed if there's a lot of stuff to do, or if i don't know how and where to start. but it is at these times that i try to remind myself that i have two choices:
i could either let the anxiety and stress take over me and avoid doing the task at all and procrastinate, which would further lead to more stress since it isn't like i'm getting any work done, so it remains the same. it just means putting off my work till later and later and before i know it, it's a day before the deadline and here i am, panicking. or,
i could acknowledge what i'm feeling, but also at the same time, try to grow through it. this means that i literally have the choice to just get started with the task and make some kind of progress. so what if i study a page? better than not studying at all. i'm literally so fucking limitless that i could just get started with it. start somewhere. progress over perfection.
it's literally about perspective.

Very personal ramble post therapy
I have finally come to accept that whatever dysfunctional relationship I have with the other half of my child鈥檚 genetic code, it鈥檚 absolutely, 100% not on me. I鈥檓 not responsible for her choices, which tend to mostly be her NOT doing a goddamn thing. This grief process is very particular and follows a recognizable pattern. I recall in the wake of a breakup with the guy I was with all through undergrad, there were years I regretted my choices I made during the relationship and that I wanted to somehow fix or repair the dysfunctions and mismatches there, but after a certain point, after a certain number of years-- I can鈥檛 tear myself up about how much my ex doesn鈥檛 like me because -- years! It鈥檚 been YEARS of us not talking and whatever is going on in the ex鈥檚 head is on them now. It鈥檚 theirs to wrestle with and theirs to put to rest if they can manage it. I cannot and will not give myself responsibility for a thing I am not contributing to.聽 (oh.... hm. When you flip that and note that the ex has not contributed to the parenting of the kid we made.... anyway....)聽

Perfectionism: a word that simultaneously sparks inspiration and dread. We all know that pursuit of excellence can lead to incredible achievements, but it can also become a never-ending cycle of self-criticism and unrealistic expectations. So how can we harness the power of perfectionism and use it as a force for good in our lives?
Imagine this: You close your eyes and allow your mind to wander to a future that ignites your passion and fills you with excitement. It's a place where your dreams have transformed into reality, where you have become the best version of yourself. The vision is so vivid, you can almost touch it. Now, open your eyes and let that vision become your guiding star.
When we visualize the future we aspire to create, it becomes a source of motivation that propels us forward.
Perfectionism, at its core, is driven by the desire for progress and excellence. We want to do our best and achieve greatness in all that we undertake. However, it's essential to recognize that perfection itself is an illusion. Visualizing the future we aspire to create serves as a reminder that our journey is about more than just achieving goals. It's about becoming the best versions of ourselves, constantly evolving and pushing our boundaries.
Instead of chasing an unattainable ideal of perfection, let's shift our focus to progress. Embrace the idea that growth is a journey, and each step forward brings us closer to our aspirations. 馃尰馃挱
